More common sense on the Chinese virus

And I just like the name "Birx" for some reason.

Dr. Birx said the coronavirus cases are currently concentrated in urban areas and the focus should be on getting medical resources into those areas from nearby parts of the state that are unaffected by the virus or from other places in the United States. Nearly 40 percent of the country, 19 out of 50 states, have reported early cases of the Wuhan coronavirus but, despite continued testing, are maintaining extraordinarily low numbers of infections, according to Dr. Birx. About 86 percent of people presenting with "significant symptoms" continue to test negative for the virus.

 


We're getting more data.  And that data says that while this is a significant virus, there's still no need to panic.  The more data we get, the more that we see how inaccurate the early models were.  I think a big part of that is the people making the models were using the data they had at the time, i.e. the data from China and Italy, neither of which can be trusted.

We've had one death in Utah from the Kung Flu, and that guy picked it up while traveling outside the USA.  Other locations have had more.  Apparently, New Orleans is getting hit hard.  I've been to New Orleans.  I could see a contagion starting there, just based on the climate and the actions of the folks who live there.  But should we shut down the entire country because people couldn't stay away from Mardi Gras?

We need to open back up, before the "cure" becomes worse than the disease.

More common sense about the King Flu

From Oxford, apparently.  They're of the same mind that I am - this virus has been in our countries since at least January, it's been running it's course for three months now, and the curve we're trying to flatten is skewed by bad data based on the fact that they're not counting all the infections that happened before they officially made it a "big deal".

How many deaths attributed to Influenza actually are the fault of the Wuhan virus?  Nobody knows.

I want to know who the fuck put that $25 million in the bill

Is there a list somewhere of who demanded what?  $25 million for the Kennedy Center?  Why?




You know who has a fuck-ton of money?  The Kennedy family.  Let them send $25 million to the organization that bears the name of their political legacy.

Thank the good Lord I have plenty saved up.  I was thinking about picking up a few boxes more so my range trip wouldn't dent my supply, but I'm now looking around and wondering if I should just stay home and pet my ammo boxes while whispering "My PRECIOUSSSSSSSSS!"

Interesting data from the Diamond Princess and South Korea.  I still say that the Diamond Princess was the worst case scenario we could have come up with:  An at-risk population confined in close quarters with shared ventilation.  This is a floating contagion that should have killed everybody.  But the data doesn't show that.

So why is everyone getting their panties in a bunch?  Because the media is a toxic dumpster fire of garbage humans who care more about hurting OrangeManBad than actually helping this country.  As a side note, any program that has on the witless bartender yet again needs to be shut down as a "news" agency.  If you actually push the googly-eyed, horse-faced socialist as a serious thinker rather than the drooling retard that she is, you do not get to call yourself "news".  Or "serious".  Or any pleasant adjective.

This virus has been here long before the officials said it was.  We're not all dying in droves.  We're not building mass graves.  And the data that we can actually verify shows it to be a serious virus, but not the plague.  I wouldn't want my parents to catch it.  Hell, I wouldn't want to catch it.  But we are not all going to die in the next month.  Calm the hell down.

Yes, the data we can actually verify.  If Italy is labeling anyone who dies after being diagnosed with this virus a Wuhan Flu death, despite whatever the cause of death, then we can't trust the data from Italy.) (Oh look!  He guzzled five liters of wine a day and smoked three packs a day, but he got the Kung Flu so that's obviously what killed him!  Not.)  We could never trust the data from China.  We cannot trust the data from Iran.  We can trust the data from Japan and South Korea.  We can mostly trust our own data, so long as it hasn't been filtered through the shit-spewing parasites in the MSM.

See, this is why I like Trump.  He doesn't worry about what money the Big Pharma lobby is shoving in to his pockets, because they're not shoving any money into his pockets.  The Congresscritters who wrote Obamacare?  BIIIIIIIIG money.

But that question right there is the right thing to ask.  Will chloroquine kill any patients?  No, so long as you're not the idiot who took the version that was for aquatic parasites.

Seriously, we have this medicine.  Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't.  We don't have anything else to counter this virus.  If we give the patients chloroquine, they might get better.  They might not.  But if we do nothing, we already know what will happen, so what the hell do we have to lose?

I hope it works.  In the meantime, I'm taking the organic compound that chloroquine is based on, on a daily basis.  That compound is called quinine.  It's found in tonic water, and it goes well with gin.

China lied. People died.

The Chinese virus, which started in Wuhan, China, was covered up by the Chinese government until it was too big to cover up any more.  At that point, the globe was pretty much screwed.  The CCP knew about the Wuhan virus back in November.

Based on what I've seen, they might have known even earlier.  And as I've already stated, this bug was here in America by December, we just didn't know it was here because we assumed it was another flu virus.

Had a very interesting chat with some in-laws last night.  They went and visited their progeny in a large mid-west city in February, and the way they described the people on their flight was jaw-dropping.  There was at least one woman who was visibly, massively ill at the front of the plane, and at least half the plane was coughing and hacking the entire flight.  They got home and were absolutely hammered with some sort of virus.  103 fever, pains and aches, breathing issues.

Sound like any virus you might know about that's been in the news lately?

Folks, this Wuhan flu has been in America and making the rounds.  We're just testing for it now, which means we're finding cases that docs would have written off as an Influenza Like Illness back in January.  So the number of cases will skyrocket and the media will continue their shrieking, hair-on-fire panic and hysteria.

But it won't change anything.

If the media reported auto deaths in the same fashion that they report the Wuhan flu, nobody would drive.

Democrats, being Socialists, care more about power grabs than helping Americans.

But you knew this already.  I have to say, this $Trillion-plus boondoggle wasn't going to fix everything, and there were way to many give-aways of other people's money.  But it was an attempt to help.

And Granny Rictus McBotox doesn't give a shit.  She wants her government funded abortion.  She wants her political power.  She wants to shit all over Normal Americans and destroy their freedoms, so she's going to use a political crisis to do it.

More common sense about the Chinese virus

It is not as bad as you think it is, and it's nowhere near as bad as the media makes it out to be.

Now, this doesn't mean that I'm going to go visit dad if I've been exposed to it, because I'm still going to take precautions based on HIS statistics.  But I'm not going to die from this.  You are most likely not going to die from this.  This hysteria is manufactured.

He's been "quarantined", due to age and health reasons, but he hasn't caught a darn thing so far.  That's a good thing.  My dad's an introvert.  The older he's gotten, the more introverted he's become.  I'm somewhat following the same track, but he could be quite happy alone in the house for weeks at a time.  In other words, he's been preparing for social distancing his entire life.  "Oh, you mean I get to stay home, eat good food, and don't have to talk to anyone?  SOLD!"

If there's a silver lining to this whole Chinese virus panic, it's that people are finally waking up to just how much of our life has been shipped to China.  And they might actually start wondering who did that, and who profited off of it.

Wuhan virus has been here since at least January if not earlier.

Also, expect to see the number of Wuhan virus cases climb in the USA due to expanded testing.  Undersatnd that it'll be reported breathlessly by the same half-wit Democrat operatives as somehow new and dangerous, because they're morons parroting whatever line they think will hurt Donald Trump.  But what it will actually mean is that those cases were here all along, not dying, not turning into zombies, because this is just another virus that we have to fight off.

Anyways, this virus has been here for a while, which makes all of the official pronouncements of numbers worthless until they start to count the people who reported Influenza-like illnesses.

In all likelihood, the best thing that happened to control this was when President Trump stopped travel from China.

I am more and more convinced that the hysteria over the Wuhan virus is being manufactured for the benefit of the Democrats and their allies.  Just like how the Democrat Media Complex is now screaming that calling the Wuhan Flu the Wuhan Flu is racist, despite the fact that this virus came from Wuhan and the Chinese government did everything wrong and caused a pandemic.

They had a perfect experimental petri dish to see what the Kung Flu did.  Here's the raw data.

We needed adults with backbones during this crisis.  We have wet, limp, brainless tapeworms.

If we get through this, it'll be because President Trump once again dragged the GOP to victory.

Here's what I want, just for once.  I want the President to take that bill and hold a press conference, and I want him to go through the most egregious points of that bill, and demand that fucking botoxed bitch explain exactly how funding abortion will help stop the Wuhan Kung-Flu.  Oh, you want millions for diversity centers at Tranny U?  How exactly will that stop the spread of the Wuhan virus?

Hammer.  Them.  In.  Public.

And then, after reading off item after item that are nothing but Leftist wet dreams, publicly declare that the Democrats don't care about the USA (which is true), the Democrats don't care about stopping the Wuhan virus (which is true), the Democrats don't care how many people die as long as they can gain political power from it (which is true), and that the Democrats need to stop their games and actually come up with a bill that does it's intended purpose; i.e. aid in the prevention of the Wuhan Kung-Flu.

I know, it's a dream.  But still, at some point if you refuse to speak the truth, you are going to be smothered by the lies the Democrats produce at a prodigious rate every single day.

A bit more sanity

Look folks, we're all gonna die at some point.  The Wuhan Kung-Flu might getcha.  Probably not.

It's a virus.  It belongs to the type of virus family that causes the common cold.  I guarantee that you know someone who's had it, and they didn't even know it because the symptoms are a sniffle, a sore throat and maybe some coughing.  In other words, a cold.

Here in Utah we have a big tourism economy.  Well, we did until it all shut down last week, but I digress.  We have people come from all over the world to hike the national parks, ski the mountains, and do what tourists do.

Do you really think that we magically don't have the Wuhan Kung-Flu in Utah?  Really?  What magic barrier do we have that kept it out as people from China and Italy came here to party and relax?

We are going to experience far more damage by the hysteria and panic caused by the Democrats and the Media (but I repeat myself) than we're going to suffer from the virus itself.  And that statement will be true even if we suffer 100,000 deaths from the Wuhan virus alone.

And there's still no TP in the stores.

It looks like it's riding season again

I had one of those "DUH!" moments the other week, as I was looking at the weather report and scratching my head.

See, I always thought of Utah as "northern", because it's on the southern border of Idaho, and Idaho is "North", at least where the USA is concerned.  Mountains, colder winters, etcetera.  And because I spent much of my growing-up time in Idaho, I just naturally thought that Utah was North as well, especially when I lived here in the mid-90's for a few months and saw all the snow.

But take a gander at a map, and you'll see that Salt Lake City is just north of the Mason-Dixon line.  As in Maryland and Pennsylvania.  Which in the grand scheme of things isn't very North at all.  It's not Washington.  It's not Montana.  We're pretty much smack-dab in the middle of the country as far as latitude goes.  This state literally sits between Idaho and Arizona.

Which means that when I looked at the weather report and saw I could ride today, in the middle of March, I should not be surprised.

Good thing I take care of my riding leathers.

And tomorrow is the high and holy feast day of St. Patrick.  The boss has giving me permission to wear a kilt.  Muah-hah-hah!

Just a note - there will be no kilt on a motorcycle.  Not at 40 degrees.  I don't want to experience that kind of shrinkage on the interstate.

Amongst all the people screaming about how we're all gonna die in the next 30 days from the Wuhan Kung-Flu.

Keep in mind that despite any problems with paying for it, we have the best health care in the world right here in the US. Italy? Not so much, which is why their mortality rate is higher. China? Not even close. Iran? 7th Century medicine is not up to the task.

None of the people I know, including my 100 year old Mother in Law, are hysterical about this.

This is not the plague.  We're not all gonna die.  Wash your hands.  Don't trust the Chi-Coms to do anything other than grab and maintain power through any means necessary.  And remember that the Wuhan virus came from a communist country with single-payer health care, and has thrived in countries with single-payer health care like Italy.  I won't even go into what's wrong with Iran, because I don't have the time required to write it all down.

The EU is most likely fucked.  They have single-payer health care, which is essentially a death sentence to older folks under these situations.  They have millions upon millions of 7th century barbarians who wipe their ass with their hands and then go rape the local women, which is NOT a good thing for sanitation or hygiene.

We're not Italy, or any of the EU.  We're not Iran.  And we're not China, although the Democrats are working to change that as quickly as possible.  We will get through this.  Don't panic.  Wash your hands.

Because of the Wuhan virus.  By the way, every time you mention the Wuhan virus, make sure you call it by its proper name:  Wuhan virus.  Apparently, the Left is now claiming that calling it the Wuhan virus or Chinese coronavirus is racist.  Because in the twisted, drug-addled brain of a Leftists, naming something after where it first appeared is racist.  But that's life when you mainline Marxism with your meth, I guess.  So I'm going to call it the Wuhan virus from now on.  "Coronavirus" is a name for a family of viruses we've been dealing with for millennia now, and Covid-19 doesn't piss off enough Leftists.

Take your pick.  Use 'em all at once for multiple head-popping effect!  Call it the Wuhan Kung-Flu and see who's head spins off in outrage.  Then you'll know who you can trigger in a crowd.

Sixth, Democrats are ignoring a salient point about the coronavirus: it started in a country with socialized medicine (China) and is having its worst effects in two other countries with socialized medicine: Iran and Italy.  There's a bright, flashing message in that that American leftists refuse to read.

The NBA just cancelled it's season

My give-a-damn meter barely budged.  I do feel sorry for all the folks who work at the arenas, because they just took a massive hit to their pay checks.  That sucks for them.  But I haven't watched an NBA game in well over a decade.  Maybe fifteen years?  I don't know.  I refuse to watch what used to be a team game devolve into thugball for narcissists.  I think the only reason I know the Toronto team won the championship last year is because of talk radio being all gaga about it.  If you asked me to name a player, I'd have to say that dude who's now in Los Angeles that nobody will shut up about.

Everybody knows who the points leader in the NBA is.  Nobody knows who the leader in steals and assists is.  And it's the same guy who holds those records.  But he didn't talk shit, he didn't play trash.  He was the consummate professional.  And the average NBA fan just doesn't care about that very much.

So buh-bye, NBA.  I never missed ya, because I really don't give a crap about ya.

I'm dragging ass this week

As I get older, the multitude of 12 hour days repeatedly kicks my ass.  Not having a weekend or a day to get crap done kicks my ass.  Not having a recovery day kicks my ass.  So I apologize for the lack of coherent posting this week, but my ass is kicked.

I'm watching the continuing freak-out about Covid-19.  One of the training summits I was to attend in April has been cancelled.  I have a training later this month, and another in early April that are still on for the time being, but I wonder for how long.

The unit commander (who actually is a medical professional) went on a little diatribe during the last CUB, basically saying that at this point, 90% of the people in that room were going to contract the coronavirus, and of that 90% at least half of them won't even know they have it.  Of the half that actually feel sick, most of them will suffer a sore throat and some sniffles, but that's about it.  A small minority of them will actually have a fever.  And unless you are older or immuno-compromised, the risk of death from this virus is small.  The whole point being, Covid-19 is in America, it's going to spread because people are stupid, but the actual effects will be minimal.  In America.

In other countries where hygiene and sanitation aren't really a thing (like China or Iran), the effects are going to be much worse.  We in America can go by some Thera-Flu, stay home, drink hot tea and recover.  In China, they work you till you drop, then toss you in your front door and seal it behind you.  Health and Nutrition aren't exactly a thing in China, you get me?  Living in a society where people piss and shit in public means your immune system is already overloaded just trying to keep you alive from the toxic crap you're tracking in to your house, and now you add a respiratory virus on top of that?  Bad juju.  Here in America, where only liberal cities allow people to piss and shit in public, the risk is far lower.  In fact, the vast majority of cases that have popped up in America are either contracted overseas and brought back here (as is the case for the people from Utah who came down with it), or it's from people who live in cities where people piss and shit in public.  Seattle, San FranFreakShow, Lost Angeles, etcetera.

Wash your hands.  Avoid places that allow hobo druggies to piss and shit in public.  Don't panic.

Got my Coronavirus briefing yesterday

You want to know what the top docs in the USA think?

Don't panic.  Wash your hands.  Stay away from infected people.

Look, the actual death rate of Covid 19 is essentially unknown, because it's hard to calculate percentages when a good portion of the people infected with the virus don't even show any symptoms!

Let me restate that:  At this point, at least 14% of the people infected with Covid 19 that they know of do not show any symptoms.  That means that the actual effect of this virus on a normal person's body is lesser than the seasonal flu.

That's not to say there are no problems.  This bug seems to hit older folks hard, and it hits a statistically significant percentage of males more than females.  But it's not Flubola that we're dealing here.  The fatality percentage being bandied about is 2-3%.  As the doc briefed yesterday, how can you make that claim when you know for a fact that there are thousands of people who got Covid 19 and didn't go to the hospital because it was just the sniffles and a sore throat?  That 2-3% fatality rate is based on the cases we know about, which is a remarkably smaller number than the cases we don't know about.

Also, what kind of condition were these folks in before they got this virus and died?  Is it taking down perfectly healthy adults?  The flu does that sometimes.  Or, is it as I suspect, that this virus is taking out the infirm and elderly, just like the flu does every year to less fanfare?

The greatest threat we face from this virus is not the physical effects on any person or group of people here in the USA.  The threat is from the fact that China, being a filthy, communist-run shithole who we've given ALL of our manufacturing capability, won't be able to supply the things they used to make but now cannot make because entire cities are quarantined.  We're going to take an economic hit, and maybe, just maybe, the right people will get a wake-up call.  But stop thinking we're all going to die.  We won't, not yet.

Don't panic.  Wash your hands.  Stay away from people you know have the virus, if possible.  And quite frankly, get outside if you can.  Fresh air and sunlight seem to be a better treatment for this virus than any man-made medicine.

People around here have lost their damn minds

The Mrs went to Costco the other day to pick up a few things.  She reported back that all the toilet paper was gone.

All.  Of.  It.  That aisle looked like a supermarket in Venezuela.  The bottled water was hit hard too.  Bottled water!  Folks, the water coming out of your tap is CHLORINATED, it'll kill any virus that might somehow make it in there!  We have to have a reverse osmosis filter to REMOVE all that chlorine.  Ain't nothing coming through those pipes alive.

We have a month's worth of poop tickets here at Casa de Rage, and now I'm wondering if that'll be enough because if people are freaking out and buying every single roll of TP within a hundred-mile radius right now, will they keep doing that as the news pushes more panic every single day in an attempt to bring down Trump?  Are there going to be houses with rooms full of toilet paper as the occupants run around in a panic because they refuse to turn off the TV?

Hell with it, we have a bidet.  I'll wash my ass clean every morning if need be.  The poor folks at Costco couldn't even begin to guess when they would have more TP in stock.  It's a freak-out like Y2K all over again.  I think some people aren't happy until they have something to panic about.

We always have enough food in the house for several weeks, just because you never know what Mother Nature is going to throw at you.  But I'm now looking around and wondering if I need to prep for more, because if people freak out like this over a virus that's the equivalent of a mild flu, then what the hell will they do if anything serious happens?

Donna Brazile lost her shit over fairly straight-forward comments

They were determined that Hillary have her coronation and then Trump, thankfully, squashed that Democrat fever dream in the general election.

Brazile made sure that Hillary had debate questions in advance, made sure that the Democrat Party super delegates voted for Hillary, and cleared the way for Hillary to run rough-shod over Bernie in 2016.  So her "Go to hell" moment now just rings hollow, because Brazile is nothing but a party hack covering for other party hacks.  I just want to see what McDaniel has to say back, because unlike the squishy wimps of previous years, McDaniel doesn't back down.

A few weeks ago Matt Yglesias published a tweet (since deleted, which I don't totally understand as I thought it was pretty innocuous from a Progressive viewpoint) saying that he wanted to spend more time focusing on "relative child poverty."  What the heck is "relative" child poverty?  I want to spend a bit of time discussing why this is a useless metric, helpful only if one want to try to sell socialism in the US.

Capitalism in the USA has lifted more people out of poverty than any other force.  Period.  Go check out the data he presents.

I just got a thrill up my leg

I saw this last night, but I couldn't stop giggling long enough to post it.  Pissy Chrissy Matthews, one of the worst loudmouths on TV, retired on air and walked off the set.

Maybe he was actually told he was going to be let go, maybe after the election. But maybe decided, the hell with that, I'll leave them without a host.

Another suspicion: MSNBC was happy to cover all this up until Matthews started taking on the progressive wing, and then leftwingers and Bernie Bros decided to cut him loose.

We went riding yesterday

It was supposed to be a warm day.  Up in the 60's.  It was not.  It was in the 40's, which isn't bad, but not optimal for a long ride

We rode up Ogden Canyon.  There was snow on the sides of the road and frozen waterfalls.  As we rode out of the canyon and began following the shoreline of the Pineview Reservoir, we saw people ice fishing.  They all looked up to see who the insane idiots on motorcycles were, and what the hell we were doing.  Here's the camera from this morning that shows the road we were on.  All that snow and ice was there yesterday.

We turned on to Trappers Loop, which runs in front of Snowbasin Ski Resort.  The pavement was dry, but there was snow everywhere else.

We made it to Morgan in time for my fingers to lose all feeling.  A stop for coffee got that feeling back.  First ride of the season.  The Mrs. was not too fond of me, but I made sure she had all the heating gear, so she fared better than I did.

We now know what kind of cold weather gear we need.  We thought we had everything covered.  We did not.

But now, the people who made this ride get to call everybody else a bunch of wimps for at least a year, until the next "First Ride of the Year".

The corona virus effects on shipping

As an aside, I've pushed my investments into purchasing more stock index funds.

Why?  Because I think the panic over this is just that:  a panic, but not really based on much other than the brainless hysteria of people who want to use this as an excuse to attack Trump and gain political power.

More people are going to die in countries that refuse to stop Chinese people from coming in.  Italy.  Lots of European countries.  South Korea.  If you allow plague rats to wander into your house, don't be surprised when you contract the plague.

It will eventually hit here.  We have a political establishment that refuses to close the border.  It'll come to Mexico, and it will then just walk across the border to the USA.  And then?  Well, who do you think a virus that is also transmitted through fecal matter is going to hit hardest?

People who don't wash their hands.  Who don't bother with sanitation or hygiene.  Who live outdoors with other people who publicly defecate.

If it gets a foothold in Lost Angeles, San FranShitShow, Seattle or Portland, you can expect to see significant numbers of homeless people die off.  Possibly some of the people around them.  But for people who wash their hands, who aren't smoking meth, who aren't shitting in public?  Low mortality rate.  Any real death counts coming from rural areas of America are going to be associated with the migrants and illegal aliens.

I don't think we're coming through this unscathed, but I don't think it's going to be as bad as people say it is.  As horrible as it sounds, this virus takes out people who cannot or do not have the faculties to take care of themselves, sanitation-wise.  Most other folks will catch a cold.  Which leaves most of America in a pretty good place.  So I'm not freaking out.  And I won't freak out.  Panic over a virus does nothing good.  Follow the advice of Douglas Adams and the Hitchhiker's Guide.
