"What do we have to lose?"
See, this is why I like Trump. He doesn't worry about what money the Big Pharma lobby is shoving in to his pockets, because they're not shoving any money into his pockets. The Congresscritters who wrote Obamacare? BIIIIIIIIG money.
But that question right there is the right thing to ask. Will chloroquine kill any patients? No, so long as you're not the idiot who took the version that was for aquatic parasites.
Seriously, we have this medicine. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. We don't have anything else to counter this virus. If we give the patients chloroquine, they might get better. They might not. But if we do nothing, we already know what will happen, so what the hell do we have to lose?
I hope it works. In the meantime, I'm taking the organic compound that chloroquine is based on, on a daily basis. That compound is called quinine. It's found in tonic water, and it goes well with gin.
You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. - Robert A. Heinlein -

It looks like it's riding season again
I had one of those "DUH!" moments the other week, as I was looking at the weather report and scratching my head.
See, I always thought of Utah as "northern", because it's on the southern border of Idaho, and Idaho is "North", at least where the USA is concerned. Mountains, colder winters, etcetera. And because I spent much of my growing-up time in Idaho, I just naturally thought that Utah was North as well, especially when I lived here in the mid-90's for a few months and saw all the snow.
But take a gander at a map, and you'll see that Salt Lake City is just north of the Mason-Dixon line. As in Maryland and Pennsylvania. Which in the grand scheme of things isn't very North at all. It's not Washington. It's not Montana. We're pretty much smack-dab in the middle of the country as far as latitude goes. This state literally sits between Idaho and Arizona.
Which means that when I looked at the weather report and saw I could ride today, in the middle of March, I should not be surprised.
Good thing I take care of my riding leathers.
And tomorrow is the high and holy feast day of St. Patrick. The boss has giving me permission to wear a kilt. Muah-hah-hah!
Just a note - there will be no kilt on a motorcycle. Not at 40 degrees. I don't want to experience that kind of shrinkage on the interstate.

So a part of Oregon wants to break off and join up with Idaho
Huh.
Well, it would probably give Idaho another Representative in the house. A conservative one, because Eastern Oregon is like the Central Valley in California - a conservative area dominated and abused by liberal fascists in the urban blight. I don't see why not. And we wouldn't be creating another state, so no worries about senators, or who gets to make their own state next. I say go for it.
And don't tell me Portlandia would be sad to see those conservative folks go. Portlandia hates conservatives and wants them to die.

So a basketball player died
Yeah, I don't watch basketball, and I understand that he died young, but he had accomplished everything he wanted to in his life. Don't cry for him. Cry for his daughter who died with him, because she never got the chance to grow up.

Things can go to hell in twenty years
Just take a look at National Review. At this point, they've gone from being a freedom-defending publication, to having to be scolded for implying that Jews are responsible for Antisemitism.
Seriously, I used to keep old stacks of National Review in my house so that I could bone up on any topic that I was going to have to argue about with my co-workers. Now? I wouldn't take a copy of NR if you paid me to do so. I knew their boat was sinking when my dad, who had subscribed to NR from the beginning, said he was dropping his subscription. He couldn't handle their whiny soiboi anti-Trump-all-the-time bullshit.
He's also ditched his Forbes subscription. We've gone from having Thomas Sowell on a monthly basis to liberal Democrats extolling the virtues of socialism in every episode. Dad used to read it religiously, as he was an investor for decades. Stocks, bonds, real estate, you name it and dad probably invested in it. And a couple of years ago he decided that he didn't need to be preached to by some snot-nosed know-nothing kid with a fancy degree and no experience what so ever in anything resembling the real world, which is pretty much the entire slate of Forbes writers these days, with an exception here or there.
It doesn't take long, once you stop defending civilization, for the Morlocks to take over. They've taken over NR, they've taken over Forbes. Hell, they've taken over vast swathes of our government because they were installed there by the proto-morlocks of the 60's and 70's. The freedom we had in this country is essentially gone. No kids today are going to remember riding in the back of pick-up trucks. Hell, parents are getting visits from the police for the crime of letting their children walk to school alone. The safety nazis of today would shit a brick if they saw what my brother and I used to do when we were kids. I was six, he was nine, we lived in a suburb, we had bicycles, and mom would shoo us out the door in the morning. We'd come back when we were hungry, and she'd shoo us out the door again. Figure that for the sixteen waking hours we had, we were indoors for maybe three of them.
Unless they're growing up in the country, away from the cities and Morlock nests they contain, most kids can't even comprehend growing up the way my generation did. And that is how a civilization dies.

The Democrats are now simply pushing Iranian propaganda
And Trump is using them as the tools they are.
In their attempt to be anti-Trump all the time, the Democrats have jumped whole-heartedly into the Pro-Iranian Regime mode. Don't think that won't be brought up during the election season.
In the meantime, Trump has actually supported the Normal Iranians, unlike Barry O'Bumblefuck, who never passed an opportunity to suck the Mullahs goat-scented dick. And don't think that Normal Iranians aren't noticing.
Trump is showing all the supposed "experts" how things actually get done in the real world. That's because Trump operated in the real world before he ran for president, unlike all our supposed "experts" in D.C. who haven't been exposed to reality for about oh.... four decades now, if not longer. And I'm pretty sure that's why the Deep State response to him is so unhinged. Iran was murdering Americans with impunity under Bush and Obama. They were ramping up their efforts to murder more Americans under Trump, because they thought he was going to do what Bush and Obama did. Instead, we have the leader of the terrorist Quds force turned into ashes and smoke that smell like goat-rape. The Mad Mullahs don't know what to do. The "experts" in D.C. don't know what to do. And every last prediction those "experts" have made has been wrong, while Trump goes about doing the things he sees that need to be done.
The "experts" have been proven wrong every single time. The political class has been completely exposed as either incompetent or completely corrupt. The media has been exposed as a rabid mass of Democrat Party operatives who's tenuous grip on reality has been completely lost. All because we elected a businessman instead of a politician.
Indeed, President Trump’s series of tweets in Farsi represent not an aberration but a doubling down on the stance his administration has held for the entirety of his presidency.
Meanwhile, not one 2020 Democratic contender has offered comments on the current protests in Iran, where dissenters are risking life and limb to voice their overwhelming dissatisfaction and frustration with the Iranian regime. This silence marks a startling pivot from the frequent mention of Iran we witnessed prior to the eruption of the protests. What changed?

In an act of brave defiance against the Iranian regime, video has surfaced of student protesters in Iran refusing to walk on the US and Israel flags on the ground.

Insert fancy New Years post here
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a new year. The Ragin' Mrs and I are finding it harder and harder to celebrate New Year's Eve, which means we really don't. We have a drink and go to bed. We don't go out, because I don't feel like sharing the road with all the drunks out there.
I guess this is where my MP background bites me in the ass a little bit. I hate driving on holidays, because I know just how many drunks are on the road.
Meh. Anyways, what's coming up in the new year? Well, there's Election 2020, where Trump will most likely beat the margin of fraud that the Democrats are going to pull. Which means we get four more years of the Left going absolutely apeshit.
I know some people don't like Sinatra, but it's Count Basie and his orchestra playing. I don't care you who are, if you don't get goosebumps from the horns swelling in the background at 1:15, you don't love music.
Oh, and speaking of the Left going apeshit, here's a sing I like to sing with my windows down when I know there's a feminist nearby.
Remember, when a Wokescold cries, the baby Jesus smiles.
Anyways, it's a new year, and personally it'll be just like the last year. Work my ass off, try to get ahead, and see what rolls around the bend in the fall.
I need to buy more ammo.

Oh damn, I forgot to post something today.
Mea Culpa. I was out doing family stuff. Also, art gallery stuff. There's a Norman Rockwell exhibit in Spokane that the Ragin' Mother wanted to go see, so we went. I saw one of the Saturday Evening Post covers that I think I'm going to have to buy.

Understand that I play the ukulele, and my dear wife puts up with my yowling and yodeling with much the same look as that young lady in the art up there. So when I saw this, I just started giggling. And then I grabbed the Ragin' Mrs and showed it to her, and she started giggling as well.
Your regularly scheduled posts should start back up on Monday.

I got nothing this morning
I do feel better than I did yesterday, so at least there's that. I don't know what is going on with my gut, but yesterday was bad for that as well. Today is much better, although as I was stumbling towards the commode after waking up I ripped out a good long fart that released so much gas I could feel myself deflating. I'm pretty sure that's not normal. On the plus side, I no longer have to use a scraper to get the paint off that section of the hallway.
I have been constantly amazed at how partisan the media in this country is, and I see it driving straight off a cliff as more and more information from the IG report comes available. Every time you think it can't get any worse, it gets worse. And of course people aren't being held to account for the crime that were committed, and the slander and lies that were spewed. Does anyone actually think that the criminals at the FBI who forged documents will be held accountable? Does anyone think that the people who ruined the lives of various Trump associates on trumped up charges will be held accountable? Does anyone think that the multiple criminal acts will be punished?
Hell no, we don't think that will happen. Which is why Civil War 2 is coming, because a government that protects criminals and punishes the law abiding makes a war inevitable. When the law becomes tyranny, resistance becomes mandatory.
Anyways, it's off to another fun day at the salt mines. BACK ON YOUR HEADS!
(Y'all have heard that joke, right?)

Did ya have a good Thanksgiving?
I did. Surrounded by friends and family, eating lots of excellent food, followed by a mellow evening, topped off with cigars and a delightful Japanese whiskey.
The Mrs. is out doing some shopping right now. I'd rather cut off my left foot than go shopping on Black Friday.

Tomorrow, we might go shopping for some specific things, but right now? Nah. I got a good run in this morning, and I still haven't showered yet. Maybe it will happen by noon.
See ya later!

Veteran's Day
And I'm brain-dead. I got nothing. No fancy words, no speech.
I truly hope and pray that America doesn't squander the blessings provided by the sacrifices of millions of men in uniform.

Why are sports writers such marxist idiots?
In this case, their wistful masturbation about Colin Kaepernick, that Castro-loving, America hating one-trick pony of a quarterback.
Every time you turn around, there's another article being written by a do-nothing, know-nothing idiot who works for some "sports" journal or another, wondering why Kaepernick isn't hired, or blaming racism for Kaepernick not playing, or some other worthless bullshit like that. None of this makes me think any better of Kaepernick at all. Instead, I now regard sports reporters as some of the lowest journalistic pond scum. The same people who howled and screamed at Tim Tebow for being a Christian are the people howling and screaming at the fact that nobody wants to hire a locker-room cancer who defenses figured out years ago.
"Oh, but he's totally a starting QB, Dave!" Really? That's why he got benched? Defenses figured out that he can't throw on the run, and his default action is to run when there's a teeny bit of pressure in the pocket. So you assign one guy to flush him out, another guy to run him down, and keep your secondary awake to pick up the wounded ducks he would float as he was running.
He was never a great quarterback. He was just a stupid idiot who could run, and now that he's even older than he was, he can't run as fast as he used to. But he hates America, and he loves to call this country racist, so sports "writers" slobber all over his afro and wonder why he doesn't have a job.
And no, I'm still not watching the NFL. I'm just sick of seeing yet another garbage article about this particular dumb-assed piece of shit.

Damn, I'm tired.
We're past three weeks in a row and working on four. I damn near bit the head off of someone in the airport last night just for standing too dang close to the baggage carousel, because I couldn't even see my bags coming around. Do we need to stand right at the edge of the carousel like cattle at a feed trough, hmm? Apparently, yes. And people also need to stand in the aisles, re-assembling their crap that they could have been re-assembling for ten minutes while the plane was taxiing to the gate, but no, that would have been to hard, so let's be mouth-breathers and hold everyone up while you rediscover basic motor control. It's not like I've been cramped in this fucking sardine can for three and half hours. I certainly don't need to use the latrine at all, no. Just go ahead and take your time in the middle of the aisle. Everybody else appreciates it!
Gah. I bit my tongue so hard last night, on so many occasions, that I might not be able to talk today.

It was a little cold here in Utah.
Given that this is my first winter here, I wasn't prepared for the sheer amount of hysteria over sub-freezing temperatures. I mean, it's high desert, folks. We're just on the other border of IDAHO, which in case you don't know is kinda northern. Most of this state is above 3000 feet in elevation, with my current patch of land more in the 4000 foot range.
So, it gets cold from time to time.
You'd think they would expect it.
My mom was warning me in August that it was going to be colder than normal. The horse's coats were already coming in thick back then.
Anyways, we didn't have many trick-or-treaters because it was "cold". We even set up coffee and hot cocoa for the adults. The few that showed up greatly appreciated it. Maybe we and the Mrs. are just weird, but it really wasn't that cold. Talk to me in January.

When good people get punched in the face
Sarah Hoyt describes the moment the Left made her break.
I don't think I've ever had a moment like that. Because unlike Sarah, I didn't start out thinking people were good. People are, as stated by Dr. Cox on the show Scrubs, "Bastard coated Bastards with Bastard filling". And that's on a good day.
Mankind is fallen. They have been ever since Eve and Adam ate the apple. Our whole existence is one big attempt to raise ourselves up from that fallen state, and that's the story of mankind from then to now, to forever. Mankind is not naturally "good". That has to be taught. And America is teaching that less and less these days.
I don't trust humanity. I have absolutely no reason to trust humanity. I have seen what humanity does to itself over and over and over, and it doesn't shock me when one group kills another group, or burns down their section of the city (other than the basic shock of seeing humans act worse than dogs, who instinctively know not to shit in their den). Civilization is a thin veneer of plaster trying to keep a house together in an earthquake, and it will fail at some point. It's not if, it's a matter of when.
My mom always told me that if you want to see what people are truly like, watch them playing sports and driving. That's when the mask comes off, because no one is watching, or so they think. Take a drive through any major urban area these days, and tell me what you see. Flip on any sports event on TV, and tell me what you see.
“Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
Robert Heinlein's quote is true, and everyone recognizes it's truth, because humans don't start out "good", and they don't magically become "good". That has to be taught, either through the luck of having good parents, or through harsh lessons from reality.
Hard times make hard men. Hard men make good times. Good times make soft men. Soft men make hard times.
Take a glance at the Gen-Xers, the Millennials, and tell me how many hard men you see there. Hell, the entire Democrat Party Platform is made to appeal to soft men. Soft men, and those who enjoy the destruction of civilization as we know it.
Buy more ammo.
Through more than fifty years of seeing slander perpetrated against anyone who disagreed with the establishment, particularly when the establishment was the result of the long march, I thought — like an idiot — that of course they would attack our taste, our intelligence, our writing. I never thought they’d go political. Much less that they’d accuse us of motives that made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Which of course they did, in the international press. (And btw US slander laws suck.)
And then it all became political. And the shock — and honestly a shock that broke something in me, because you don’t expect that. You just don’t — was that people who knew me, people I’d considered friends, people I’d have trusted, people who weren’t political, believed the slander. I lost friends over it. But more importantly, I lost trust in humanity as a whole.
I don't think I've ever had a moment like that. Because unlike Sarah, I didn't start out thinking people were good. People are, as stated by Dr. Cox on the show Scrubs, "Bastard coated Bastards with Bastard filling". And that's on a good day.

One more goat-fucker down
So Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is now mincemeat, by his own hand. As President Trump said, he died whimpering and crying like a coward and a dog.
I object. Dogs are wonderful creatures, and I would never reference any goat-fucker to a dog, as dogs have more loyalty, strength, and intelligence than any goat-fucker could possess.
Oh, and the Washington Post is flaming garbage. Link goes to Power Line, so you don't sully your computer with Washington Post exposure.
Power is out in California. Again. With more wildfires. Look, I feel sorry for the actually good people of California. I don't know what to do when some guy in the Central Valley has to live in the socialist shithole created by Lost Angeles and California. Same way I feel about the farmers in Ellensburg who have to live under the bootheel of the Pugetropolis in Washington. But when I hear about homes burned in Los Angeles, or people dodging poop piles in San Francisco, my only real response is "You fuckers voted for this, and you got it."
There is actually one more thought in my head: "STAY THERE! DON'T COME HERE AND FUCK THIS PLACE UP TOO!" Although for much of the western side of the country it's too late. Salt Lake City is thoroughly Kalifornicated, although the outlying areas seem to be resisting it for a bit.
Speaking of Kalifornication, noted pot-smoking bisexual polyamorist Katie Hill is resigning from Congress. Personally, I don't think she's resigning because of the nude photos, or the multiple ethics violations she's committed. She's a democrat, so she has no real morals other than whatever gets her the most power, and she's not ashamed of anything she's done so far. No, I think she's got some bigger skeletons in her closet, and she's leaving before more people start digging around and finding them.
OK, I need to get stepping here, so that's all the random brain droppings you're getting for now.

Happy Columbus Day!
Yep. Screw this Indigenous People's Day. As far as I'm concerned, that's not a thing. Yeah, let's roll the Apache and the Navaho into one group. I'm sure they won't mind that at all.
Happy Columbus Day, people!

I'm for it
Add 3 things:— P. D. Mangan 🇺🇸 (@Mangan150) September 10, 2019
*meat
*resistance training
*sun
Subtract 3 things:
*seed oils
*sugar
*refined grains
and see how good you feel.
About the only processed carbohydrates we consume at the Ragin' Castle is whiskey. All other carbs are either unprocessed, or as unprocessed as we can get while still keeping to recipes. Processed foods are absent, because they are nothing more than empty calories.
Yes, it does cost a bit more. But it's worth it.
As for adding sun: Sunlight makes you produce Vitamin D. Vitamin D is actually a hormone, not a vitamin, but by the time they had discovered the difference it was decided to just keep calling it vitamin D. Vitamin D does many things: It helps your body absorb and use calcium, and it helps with your mood. It literally wards off depression, which is why so many folks up North need UV lights in their house during the winter time. Get out. Exercise. Take Vitamin D if you live up North, and I'm not talking just Alaska. All the states north of the Mason-Dixon line should be taking vitamin D as a daily thing.

I guess I'm still a kid at heart
The Air Force has been doing their thing lately, and every time one of those jets goes screaming overhead, I have to stop what I'm doing and look up. It makes me smile every time.

I am not a traffic scientist
I can make some generalized observations, like "I say, if you put your cell phone down you wouldn't drive like a fucking moron", or "Maybe rushing to cut in front of me, only to slam on your brakes because there's no room in front of me, makes you a retarded shitstain"
So, basically, the observations that anyone with an IQ over room temperature could observe. Which, unfortunately, disqualifies at least 50% of the people who drive in America.
But anyways, like I said, I'm not a traffic scientist. So is there anyone out there who can explain to me why, when traffic in the three right lines is moving, be it ever so slowly, that the far left lane, the lane where people are supposed to be passing, the lane that is for the people who don't need to get off the freeway for a couple of miles, the lane with a GIANT ASS DIAMOND MARKING TO INDICATE IT IS AN HOV LANE, why does that lane come to a screeching halt?
There are no exits to the left. There are no merging lanes. You have the median, which has no traffic, and then a lane to the right. WHY THE FUCK DID YOU JUST COME TO A STOP?
The more I am around people, the more I hate people and want to be left alone.
I have discovered my spirit animal. It is a porcupine. All I want to do is to live in the woods and be left alone, and if you fuck with me I will ruin your day, week, and month as you try to pull my quills out of your ass.
Just a few more years. Just a few more years. Just a few more years.
