Shared this with the wife. Laughed my ass off.

And Ted Cruz is paying to have this ad play during SNL this weekend.

Friggin' awesome.

I hate Christmas Shopping

I truly do.  I suppose I should just buy things throughout the year and put them in hiding so that I never have to actually go shopping for Christmas, but that would imply being able to keep a secret from my wife for several months, and that just ain't gonna happen.  I'm not a good liar at the best of times, and I can't keep anything from the Mrs.

But that's a good thing.  I'm proud of the fact that I'm a horrible liar.  That means I don't lie enough to get any practice at it.

Anyways, I hate Christmas shopping, I truly do.

Guess what I'm doing today?

Obama's Praetorian Guard strike again

The NYT's Lord, King and God must be protected at all times.

If you read The New York Times‘ story on PresidentBarack Obama‘s private meeting with news columnists Friday morning, you may have caught one quote that made the President look particularly bad:
In his meeting with the columnists, Mr. Obama indicated that he did not see enough cable television to fully appreciate the anxiety after the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, and made clear that he plans to step up his public arguments.
The President of the United States failed to understand that Americans were anxious after two major terrorist attacks in Western cities because he doesn’t watch TV? It’s an admission that opponents are sure to use to make the president seem out-of-touch at best, and unconcerned about a serious threat at worst.
Jammie Wearing Fool has the proof that the NYT is constantly changing it's headlines in order to protect their Communist Christ from any criticism at all.

Took a tumble

whilst on the morning run.  I think I'm mostly OK, but I'm fairly certain my shoulders are going to be sore tonight.  We'll see how I feel tomorrow morning.

So once again

Democrats get everything they want, while the Republican leadership cowers in a corner and throws poo at the Tea Party folks.

Fuck the GOP.  It needs to die.  It needs to die now.

More Here.  Paul Ryan is just a thinner, more sober John Boehner, and it's business as usual for the GOP establishment - grow the government betray the base, make excuses, repeat.  They have repeatedly shown that they cannot be trusted, they cannot learn, the refuse to actually do what their voters want them to do....  it's time for them to go the way of the Whig Party.

The flashing alarm light

But the nation has been asleep at the switch for the past seven years.

Well, at least half the nation, anyway.

I believe that most of that 53 percent of Americans who want to send our young people back to the sandbox labor under the mistaken belief that our military is a well-oiled machine that will make mincemeat out of ISIS. I would warn these people that our military is actually pretty ragged—under-funded, undertrained, and sorely lacking in the morale department. Most importantly, it’s been wussified—forced by politicians and general officers to become the “kindler gentler military” Stephanie Gutmann warned of fifteen years ago in her seminal book by the same name. If you haven’t read it, you need to.
Slashed military budgets have shrunken our armed forces. The US Army is now the smallest it’s been since before World War II and the US Navy the smallest since before World War I. We’re still asking this skeleton crew to keep the sea lanes open and to hold down the fort in Korea, something we didn’t ask of them in our pre-superpower era.
Morale continues its descent into the abyss. In 2014, the Military Times
commissioned a survey of 2,300 military members to gage their satisfaction with military life—with bleak results. Only 56 percent of troops agreed with the statement “Overall my quality of life is good,” compared to 91 percent who said the same thing in 2009. Seventy percent of troops agreed with the statement that “quality of life will decline in coming years.” Only 27 percent said that officers in senior leadership positions had the rank-and-file’s best interest at heart—a clear indicator that careerism is having a corrosive effect on the military. As journalist Hope Hodge Seck wrote in the Military Times: “Today’s service members say they feel underpaid, under-equipped and under-appreciated, the survey data show.”

There's more at the link.  Read the whole thing.  The author says this is not the Army they joined in 1999.  It sure as hell isn't the Army I first joined in 1995.  There will come a point where the military, having been transformed into a social justice project, will not be able to win the wars America needs it to win.

But as fewer and fewer people have any experience with the military, they don't care.  Just as long as gays and women can openly serve in the Infantry, right?  That's the REAL important measure.

Listened to the debate last night.

The CNN moderators wanted the candidates to fight.  Trump and Bush obliged them.  Trump vs Cruz not so much.  Very smart.

Bush came off looking pissy, bitchy and entitled.  I wouldn't be shocked if his numbers went down.

Rubio did OK.  Carson did better than his other debates.  Trump and Cruz mostly helped themselves. Everybody else was just eating up time.

All in all, I expect to see the top three remain the top three.  I expect to see Jeb sink even further.

Debate tonight

What are the odds that Trump tries to unload on Cruz?  And gets his ass handed to him?

What are the odds that Cruz just smiles and goes after Hillary?

Can anyone explain to me why half the field is even in the race?  Lindsey Graham is still running?  He's the more feminized John McCain, he's got no chance.  And I'm pretty sure that even he knows it.  So other than being a stalking horse for Bush, what the hell is he there for?

Trump, Cruz and Carson take up over 50% of the support right now.  The GOP is shitting kittens.  And I'm laughing my ass off.

I had seen this before

But forgot where I found it, until I found it somewhere else.

OK, was Rudyard Kipling a prophet?

Or is there any subject he did not write a poem about that cuts straight to the heart of the matter?

The Stranger within my gates,
He may be evil or good,
But I cannot tell what powers control--
  What reasons sway his mood;
Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
   Shall repossess his blood.

-or scream "ALLAHU ACKBAR!" and blow themselves up in the children's play area of your local mall.

Well, Kipling spent a ton of time in India, which means he was spending time tromping around the area which would become Pakistan.  Yes, Pakistan was once part of the country of India.  Guess why it broke off?
