Random Earworm

I had a Benny Goodman CD years ago that got ripped off.  It had the full version of "Sing Sing Sing" from Carnegie Hall on it, where Gene Krupa wouldn't stop playing.  14 minutes of musical brilliance.  But one of the hidden gems was a short song called "Runnin' Wild".  The Benny Goodman Quartet, with Lionel Hampton on vibes.  I can't keep myself from moving when I hear this song.

That there is music for the sheer joy of making music.

This is what I would like to say

To all my liberal relatives.  Were I still on facebook, I would post it whole and tell my family to choke on it.

First they came for the blacks, and I spoke up because it was wrong, even though I'm not black.

Then they came for the gays, and I spoke up, even though I'm not gay.

Then they came for the Muslims, and I spoke up, because it was wrong, even though I'm an atheist.

When they came for illegal aliens, I spoke up, even though I'm a legal immigrant.

Then they came for the pornographers, rebels and dissenters and their speech and flag burning, and I spoke up, because rights are not only for the establishment.

Then they came for the gun owners, and you liberal shitbags threw me under the bus, even though I'd done nothing wrong.  So when they come to put you on the train, you can fucking choke and die.

 ~~~
Or you can commit seppuku with a chainsaw.  I really don't care anymore.  This is the end of my support for any liberal cause, because liberals have become anything but.
Read it all.  All of it.  This is my internal monologue.
Gratitude
I just had a very humbling night.  Not in a bad way.  I'll post more once I've gotten some sleep.  But it was a night that made me experience a deep sense of gratitude towards quite a few folks.
Had my physical today
....Among other tasks that had to be accomplished.  Blood work-up, BP check, yada yada yada.
BP was 113 over 74.  That's the lowest it's been since it started getting recorded.  As in, ever.  Cholesterol was a tad bit high, but I'd eaten a bacon and blue cheese sandwich the day before they drew blood, so that accounts for most of it.  My good cholesterol, the HDL, was 52.  Supposedly that's a good sign.
All in all, not bad for a broken down, grumpy old shit!  Cigar time!
The Mis-State of the Union
Hell no, I'm not watching it.  I have no wish to listen to that god-damned lying fucking Nazi piece of shit spew his crap.
Wow
They say that you need to know when you can't do what you do any more.  The Pope has come to that realization.
Pope Benedict had to follow in the footsteps of someone who was being called a saint while he was still alive.  He then worked to deal with the fall-out of the homosexual pedophile priests in America, the slow disintegration of the church liturgy and other problems that had been put on the back burner for decades.  He advocated for greater punishment for child abuse in any form, assisted in bringing back the Traditional Latin Mass to America, and pushed for other reforms too many to list.
He's done an admirable job.  And now he's giving up power, willingly, because he knows that he cannot adequately fulfill the position in his physical condition.
That, my friends, is humility.  We all know people who refuse to give up any power, no matter how small or how little.  And here's a man who is giving up being the leader of over a BILLION people world wide, a man who holds a position of incomparable influence, for the good of that organization.
We can only hope that the next Pope comes close to who Pope Benedict is.
