The fun and joys of moving around a lot

There'a always something wrong with a house that you rent.  Even the nicest house has it's issues, because houses age, and age brings issues along with it.  This is quite possibly the nicest house that we've ever rented in terms of its condition.  The owner renovated it as if they were going to live in it, not rent it out.  So on that score, I really can't complain.  But the heating unit apparently hadn't been maintained for some time.  I honestly think it just slipped the landlord's mind, because if you're constantly renting the house out during the summer in Mississippi, heat is the last thing you worry about.

But it started acting up two weeks ago, and we called an HVAC guy, and they came out to check it, and...  well...  apparently, they've never seen all three tubes on the transfer unit all cracked at the same time.  Luckily the part is under warranty, and they're working to get a new one installed, but the shut the heater down two weeks ago.  Oh, and that just happened to be in the middle of one of the colder winters this place has seen in years.  The locals are all running around bundled like eskimos and asking where their friend the sun went.  Apparently it should be in the 60-70 degree range right now, instead of 45 and raining.  The Mrs. is not so happy at this moment.

We've been heating the house with a little propane unit that's safe to use indoors, plus a couple of electric heaters we use at night.  I just can't wait to see my electric bill.

Crazy like a fox

Just a thought here:  If Trump had fired Mueller, as he had plenty of reasons to do so, would half of the information regarding the DNC collusion with Russia come to light?

And, almost as opera bouffe, it also emerged Thursday that Senate Intel ranking member Mark Warner was himself colluding with a Russian oligarch in an attempt to get a secret interview with the notorious Christopher Steele.  In humiliating texts, Warner urged his contact to tell his oligarch buddy to keep the negotiations on the down low because Mark didn't want a "paper trail" if things went South. (Incredible that a senator could be so clueless as to put that in a text in this day and age.) If Warner was so concerned about an "interview," perhaps he should have asked to talk with Sidney Blumenthal and Cody Shearer, both of whom are undoubtedly lawyering up but would have a considerable amount to say about the contents of various dossiers.  (In Hollywood, we call it the auteur theory.)

This is called letting people hang themselves with their own rope.

I'm OK with this

DREAMers in the military will not be deported.

"They will not be subject to any kind of deportation," Mattis told reporters as quoted by the Associated Press. "In terms of the DACA situation ... it's clarified they are not in any kind of jeopardy."
That also applies to any honorably discharged veterans, he said.
However, Mattis said the protection doesn't include someone who commits a serious felony or who has been has ordered deported by a federal judge.
This applies to about .01% of actual DACA or DREAM Act individuals.  And those individuals have worked their ass off in service to this country.  They haven't been sitting on their ass asking for hand-outs.

In short, those are the kind of people we WANT to have in this country.  You do a hitch in the military, you should earn the right to stay here if you want to do so.

Republicans once again step on their dicks

But that's because they're just the GOP wing of the Democrat Party.  Actions speak louder than words.

All those fiscal conservatives of days past – Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) – voted for the new budget. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) attempted to block the bill by refusing to give the go-ahead to a vote on it sans an amendment process, complaining, “Every one of these Republicans complained about President Obama’s deficits.” But he was shut down.

Trillion dollar deficits.  The GOP just sold more of our grandchildren and great-grandchildren into financial slavery to pay for socialist pipedreams that do nothing but waste money.  And it is STILL NOT A BUDGET!  IT IS STILL NOT THE VERY THING THAT CONGRESS IS SUPPOSED TO PRODUCE!

This is why the Senate GOP has become a joke. McConnell has signaled for years that Republicans can deviate from the platform as much as they want, even with a GOP president. He’s merely a guy to make sure the trains run on time.
A normal party leader would call people like Lindsey Graham and Susan Collins into his office and say, “Look, the president has already compromised beyond belief by offering a massive amnesty. It’s time to support the party platform and vote for a package that concurrently addresses our issues, otherwise find yourself a new party.”
The GOP platform has become a free-for-all. The only ones who don’t get blank checks are conservatives. While cutting a deal with Schumer to raise the debt ceiling and increase the debt to unthinkable levels, McConnell has agreed to prevent conservatives from making any push to pass a single good piece of legislation this year. Section 30103 of the McConnell bill treats the budget caps for FY 2019 as if they are the official annual budget, which means that there will be no budget reconciliation this year. As we warned last month, without budget reconciliation, there is no way to pass conservative health care priorities or welfare reform. And that is exactly the way McConnell wants it.

The GOP is still the Democrat Party's little bitch thanks to Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.  The Democrats are still in control, Chuck Schumer is still fucking this country over every single day, and Mitch McConnell will do nothing about it.  This is the GOP.  The Right Wing of the Democrat Party.  Mitch McConnell should just switch parties now, since he apparently wants to keep Chuck Schumer happy more than his voting base.

He who would pick a pun....

My wife sent me this.  Blame her.

A rather mild statement

We now have a side-by-side comparison of two FBI-redacted versions of the Senate Judiciary Committee’s criminal referral of Christopher Steele for lying to the FBI. After releasing a heavy-redacted memo on Monday, committee chairman  Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) put out  anupdated version late Tuesday after the FBI removed several of its earlier redactions. It offers a glimpse into what the Bureau initially considered to be classified information, and seems to justify what Grassley called his “loss of faith in the ability of the Justice Department and the FBI to do their job free of partisan, political bias.”

"Free of partisan, political bias".  At this point, every FBI paper-shuffler in D.C. should be assumed to be working directly for the DNC as well as their FBI gig.  I have seen no evidence to the contrary, and every other rock we turn over features yet another FBI cockroach scuttling away into the DNC machine.  To hell with not trusting the leadership; I DON'T TRUST THE FBI.  I do not trust the leadership, nor the middle management, and that means I cannot trust the boots on the ground who take their orders from the top.

There must be a purge, otherwise nobody in their right mind will ever trust the FBI again.

"This will counteract global warming for 50 years"

Hey bub, if it's going to counteract glowbull warming for 50 years, then maybe global warming isn't really happening they way you think it is.

Reduced sunspot activity has been observed and indicates the sun is heading into a 50 year reduced solar activity similar to what happened in the mid-17th century.
Comparison to similar stars indicates the reduced activity will cause 0.25% less UV for 50 years.

I know that weather is not climate, but down here in Mississippi all the locals are wondering where they hell their friend the Sun has disappeared to.  I'm enjoying what I think is an extremely mild winter, but the locals can't walk outside without uttering "What the fuck?  What the fucking fuck?" as they wrap up like Nanook of the North and scurry from their heated office to their heated car.

If our friend the Sun is taking himself a little nap for the next 50 years or so, I will react to all proclamations of global warming with a severe beating 'round the head and shoulders of the proclaimer.  Kind of like the writers of this article, who are STILL going on and on about the absolute fucking bullshit that mankind is causing the Earth to WARM UP AND DIE!

Granny Ructus babbles for eight hours and six minutes in support of illegal immigrants

That's approximately eight hours and five minutes longer than she's ever spoken in support of law-abiding American citizens.

Dear Government - Stop fucking up the BASIC shit!

Sorta like this:  STOP EMBRACING JIHADIST SHITBAGS WHO ENDORSE KILLING AMERICANS!

Last Thursday, Sam Brownback was sworn in as the State Department's new ambassador for religious liberty.
Today -- in his first official speech as ambassador -- Brownback openly embraced a hardline Islamic cleric who authorized a fatwa in 2004 justifying the killing of Americans in Iraq, and another fatwa in 2012 calling for the destruction of the state of Israel.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Bayyah's past is no mystery to the State Department. For example, the Obama administration's State Department had to repeatedly apologize in May 2014 for promoting Bin Bayyah as a moderate. However, the Obama administration then implemented a full-court press with the U.S. media and the D.C. foreign policy "Smart Set" to rehabilitate the image of the Mauritanian cleric.

It's crap like this that proves they still don't have a clue as to why the Americans who use their brains don't trust the government.  This jihadist shitbag is a known entity.  They knew he called for killing Americans.  But gosh, let's partner with him and sing Kumbayah!

Brainless fucktards running the State Department.  No shock there.

I. Am. STUNNED!

The "Bake That Cake" gestapo just ran into a wall, courtesy of a California judge.

I do notice it's Kern County, which means it's away from the toxic cesspools of Los Angeles and San Francisco.

A timeline of the FBI's activity

And yeah, it's pretty criminal.  Anyone who looks at the evidence and then says that the FBI didn't try to sway the election to Hillary is lying.

There can be no question, at this point, that certain higher ups in the FBI and the DOJ did not want Hillary to be indicted and did not want Donald Trump to become President.  Those efforts were not entirely independent of each other.
Below is a timeline of events – abbreviated though it is – that makes it rather plain that the FBI and DOJ were not investigating potential crimes objectively.
Indeed, they were committing crimes during the process in aid of their preferred outcomes.
I think the reason why Trump is allowing the Mueller probe to continue is because the longer this investigation goes on, the more information about the corruption in the FBI is exposed.  And I think Mueller knows this, but he's caught in a trap of his and the DNC's making, and there's no way out for him.  And while he's stuck with a nothing-burger, the Left keeps taking hits with every new bit of information that comes out.  And Trump is going to use that on the campaign trail for the GOP this year.  And there's nothing the DNC or Robert Mueller can do about it.

It is right to say that this episode is the worst abuse of political power in American history related to elections. Watergate is nothing by comparison. That involved people not employed by the government.  Later it involved a cover-up in which Nixon participated.
Watergate did not involve the DOJ and the FBI – two institutions which must be non-partisans for this Republic of ours.
This case does involve the FBI and DOJ.  It also is foolish not to assume that Loretta Lynch and President Obama were ignorant of the goings on - if not involved in them.

Gonna be another interesting year!

Moto-interruptus

Went to get on my bike this evening to come home, and saw oil dripping from the final drive shaft.

Well, CRAP!

Guess what I get to do on my free time now?

The Sports-Ball Bowl

I want to congratulate Team A for their victory over Team B, and also Team B for their gracious display of humility after a loss to Team A.  And I'd also like to tell the rioters where ever they are to calm down.  It's sports, not life.

Don't tell me who won.  I don't give a shit.  And I'll probably hear it from guys at work today, which makes me give even less of a shit.

Corruption runs deep, but Leftist seem to fail upward

So. the former Metropolitan Chief of Police who bungled the Seth Rich murder investigation is now the Chief of Security at the NFL.  Oh, and also, she likes to hob-nob with DNC bigwigs and sits on a board with the former wife of John Podesta.

So yet another Clintonista skated while the skating was good, and got a fat job pushing Progtard values at a converged institution.  You want to know why the NFL has no problem with it's players kneeling during the anthem?  Because the NFL is run by people who associate far more with the Democrat leadership than they do with Joe Sixpack from Kansas City.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, no, I'm not watching the game.  I'm guessing most of you already knew that.

This reminds me of my time working at the EMP in Seattle.  The Director of the place was stepping down, and they brought in a new director from the Seattle Center to take over.  The new director had just stepped down as director of the Seattle Center after triggering a lawsuit over unpaid benefits from Seattle Center staff that cost the Center over $2.5 million.  So, after that spectacular debacle of crashing the Seattle Center's traffic into the ground and costing the center millions of dollars due to her violating employee's contracts, she got a better paying gig right next door because she knew the right people and said the right things.  She promptly laid off half of the EMP staff.  The last time I walked by the place, it was even more empty of patrons than when I got laid off.  A month after I got laid off, I got another job with higher pay, so it wasn't like I got screwed over.  And quite frankly, the guys who didn't get laid off quickly left when they could.  Under her "leadership", employee turn-over increased quite a bit.

I highly doubt she's still the director there.  However, this being Seattle, I am willing to bet money that she's driven several other organizations into the ground, and still gets paid six figures a year, or more.

This woman, Kathy Lanier, was the Chief of Police for one of the most crime-ridden cities in America.  After the department she was responsible for completely bungled one of the most high-profile murders in recent history, she failed upwards into a cushy job thanks to her political connections.  I have no doubt that she'll "succeed" in her new job like she did in her old one.

This is why group identity is so important for Leftists.  They don't succeed based on their own merits, or on the basis of past work.  They continue to fail time and time again, but someone else always pays the price.  And as long as they signal the right virtues, and say the right things about the right people, they will continue to find new work, to fail upwards.

Whereas folks the right judge you based on your body of work.  Any conservative with half a brain would never have hired the failed executive who cost the Seattle Center millions of dollars in lawsuits and lawyers fees to take over a failing music museum.  Because we don't care what virtue you signal.  We want to know if you can get people in the door, paying for tickets, buying food and drink, and keeping our employees employed.

Apparently, the NFL really doesn't care about that.  Oh well.
