I remember a Bill Whittle video where he points out that Plano, Texas has the highest rate of gun ownership per capita in the USA. And the crime rate in Plano, or at least at the time of the video, was lower than anywhere else in the world.

So I got an email a couple of days ago from a gentleman at cheapammo.com. They were wondering if I could put up a little notice of their Black Friday sale.
There's never been a time when I wanted to pay more for ammo. More ammo for less cost is good.

The only ammo I could not find at their site was 6.5 Grendel. But that's a rather common problem these days. Anyways, when tomorrow comes, do NOT go forth. Sit in your chair and buy ammo.
Shoot whatever gun and caliber fit your hand, because pretty much everything does what you need it to do.
This study took me a long time and a lot of effort to complete. Despite the work it took, I'm glad I did it. The results I got from the study lead me to believe that there really isn't that much difference between most defensive handgun rounds and calibers. None is a death ray, but most work adequately...even the lowly .22s. I've stopped worrying about trying to find the "ultimate" bullet. There isn't one. And I've stopped feeling the need to strap on my .45 every time I leave the house out of fear that my 9mm doesn't have enough "stopping power." Folks, carry what you want. Caliber really isn't all that important.
Take a look at the data. I hope it helps you decide what weapon to carry. No matter which gun you choose, pick one that is reliable and train with it until you can get fast accurate hits. Nothing beyond that really matters!
The dude has the data. It's broken down for you to peruse. Were I to offer ANY kind of advice on what you carry, I would say make sure you have good defensive ammo. I like Hornady Critical Defense because my gun cycles it perfectly and it's a hollowpoint. But whatever works in your gun should do the trick.
We can still argue about what caliber and gun manufacturer are best. But in the end, carry what you can shoot the best.

Gun sales hit a new record in July, the 36th straight month of firearms purchases over 1 million.
In breaking the record, people delivered a strong message to liberal Democrats, who last week passed a ban on buying the nation’s most popular firearm, the modern sporting rifle, and other semi-automatic weapons and parts.
According to industry experts, sales in July topped 1.2 million. That means sales have hit 1 million or more each month for three consecutive years.
Thirty-six million weapons. Probably a lot of them are handguns, and shotguns, but a whole bunch of them are AR platform rifles.
And the people who bought them are, by and large, not inclined to turn them in if the government says so.

It was news that sent shudders through every person who supports the Second Amendment: Ten Republican senators have signed on to a “framework” that will allegedly improve gun safety in America. You can guess who these RINOs are—it’s the same bunch who will always agree to limit American rights to keep up with their friends on the Democrat side of the aisle. And while there are a couple of good ideas in the framework, the rest of it is either useless, harmful, and/or unconstitutional.
There is no limit on firearms that will prevent the mass murders from happening. If the nutjobs can't get a gun, they'll use a car like that racist shitbag in Wisconsin who drove through a parade (and my didn't he fall off the news rather quickly?) Multiple people have pointed out to me over my years that if someone is using language designed to create a strong emotional response from you, they're not doing so in order to help you or protect you. Speaking from the East Room of the White House Wednesday afternoon, President Joe Biden re-introduced his extreme gun control agenda, advocating for a ban on modern sporting rifles and reminding lawful gun owners that the federal government has nuclear weapons.
"Those who say the blood of Patriots, you know, and all the stuff about how we’re gonna have to move against the government," Biden said. "If you think you need to have weapons to take on the government, you need F-15s and maybe some nuclear weapons."

This has been covered multiple times six ways from Sunday, but let's just do a quick summary of why you big-government Marxists who get a hard-on when you think about dropping bombs on Americans will lose. Yes, you have nukes. Yes, you have planes. And those things require people, and those people have neighbors. Neighbors who might just object to SGT Highspeed dropping bombs on Americans or strafing Main Street in rural America.
Planes and nukes and bombs require a logistics train that also runs through rural America. Which is full of people who would greatly object to seeing other Americans get bombed or strafed.
Planes and bombs also require PEOPLE, many of whom own guns themselves, and might just decide to use those weapons on the people who have directed them to kill Americans.

I didn't like the M-16 I was issued back as a yoot, and I don't like the M-4 I'm forced to use now. I never got into the whole AR-15 thing, because it's not a rifle I particularly like. I don't like the gas-operation, I don't like the caliber. It's just not a thing that I wanted to own.
But watching what's going on, I'm actually thinking of getting one. Lots of reasons why, most of end with "Because FUCK YOU that's why!"
Of course, now they've hit nosebleed prices, and good luck finding any 223 ammo, because there's a lot of people who feel the same why I do. Chances are I'll pick up another shotgun, this one with a much shorter barrel than my bird gun.
With regards to the shooter in Boulder, Colorado.
