It's sad that this even needs to be said, but this is the world we live in
Being a Fatty McFatCakes is NOT a service related disability. Senior officers/NCOs in the USAR and ARNG hardest hit.
The number of people I've seen waddling up to the door of my unit, with their uniform stretched to the breaking point, makes me rather angry. I actively work to either get the people I am responsible for to be A) in shape, or B) out of the Army if they can't put the fork down.
If you have an injury that prevents you from working out, then you should be getting compensation for that injury. But if you're a fat-ass, and you can't be bothered to do a minimum of exercise, that's on YOU, not the Army. I've been unable to run for the past six months thanks to a fractured sesamoid bone in my foot, but I've found other ways to exercise so that I don't get fat. Getting fat is bad, m'kay? Especially when the Army will kick you out for being fat, and I rather enjoy being able to see Mr. Happy when I look down. Which is a total non sequitur, but it's still rather important to the Mrs.
Oh yes, obesity is treatable. Stop drinking beer. Stop eating fried everything with fried sauces on top.
When I was stationed in Wisconsin, I worked with another Soldier from Georgia who was so fat even his fingers were plump. He did enjoy his fried chicken. He retired sometime in 2012, and was dead from a massive heart attack by 2014. He had probably gained another 50-100 pounds from his rather hefty retirement weight.
I think he was 51 or so.
Put the fork down. Eat an apple instead of a donut. Cut down on the beer, like I did. And I love beer, folks. I really, really do like beer, but it makes me fat so out it went. My diet has had to change multiple times depending on what it was doing to my body, and I figure that it'll change a couple more times once I retire and grow a beard and put up signs around my house saying "Trespassers will be shot; Survivors will be shot again". But don't ever blame anyone else for you being fat. If you're fat, it's because YOU made the choices that made you fat. The VA shouldn't have to pay for that.

Busy day today
Got lots to do. Quite a bit of plans coming up for the future that need preparation now. And of course, the ever-present need for socialization, lest I revert back to banging women on the head with clubs and dragging them back to my cave. I'm much like a dog in that regard. If I'm not socialized on a regular basis, I tend to be even less sociable in the future, and since the Mrs. likes to be around people, well.... She doesn't need me snapping and growling at them. I told her that other people are highly over-rated, but she still likes to be around them, so....

There's some confusion about whether gays rate higher than muslims, but they'll figure that out once they can determine how many votes each particular side can bring to the table.
But no matter what, white men are at the bottom of their scale.
You think that doesn't affect how people act? How people vote? How people choose to live?

Permitting illegal immigration is not compassion
Because there are no victimless crimes, and illegal immigration hurts more people than you can count.
Tell me, where is the compassion for the Americans who have to live with the results of illegal aliens and the cartels who direct them, control them, and use them?

They don't care about the women and girls who get raped by the coyotes who are smuggling them They don't care about the Americans who's land is being trashed. They don't care about the victims of the cartels on both sides of the border.
So how can they call themselves "compassionate"?
They can't. It's a lie.
An Encino, TX resident says she lives in fear every day. She sees hundreds of undocumented immigrants attempting to enter her property, adding she feels threatened by criminal organizations surrounding the area.

I spent all day making sausage. As well as teaching the wife of a co-worker to make sausage. We made Andouille and Chaurice, and then smoked the Andouille all afternoon. Once we pulled the Andouille off the grill, we put on the pork bones from the pork shoulders we'd cut up for the sausage, and those have been smoking until 11 PM.
I got to spend the evening surrounded by friends, eating good food, and having a good time. And other than a few snide comments about MSNBC, we didn't discuss politics at all. We talked sports. Movies. Comedy. Life in general. Theology. Haunted houses. Exorcisms. Kids. Texas vs. Mississippi, especially when it comes to allergies. And of course, food.
It was an awesome night.
I miss those. Having that kind of nigh reminded me of a time when politics didn't consume every aspect of our lives.
By the by, the smoked pork bones will be used to make Hoppin' John, red beans and rice, and various other southern dishes.
If there's one thing that I curse the left for doing, is making everything political. For taking away nights like tonight from everybody.
Everybody needs a night like I had tonight. But now we have to make sure we don't invite any Leftists in order to have that kind of night. So be it. Why Johnny can't Think
Way back in the Medieval times, when I was in high school, I commonly ran up against people who, in a debate, couldn't grasp basic facts. This apparently wasn't too uncommon for a few folks. If I were to posit that a tax on income resulted in people deliberately earning less in order to avoid said tax, I was told that I was an idiot, because nobody would do that.
Apparently, all of human nature doesn't count.
I used to wonder about why so many kids in my school couldn't put figurative two and two together. Now I know that was a deliberate action, by the Marxist left, to grow not a generation of citizens, but a generation of peasants who couldn't think on their own, and thus require the state to take care of them. My saving grace was having parents who taught me on their own time, who removed any and all TVs from the house, and who demanded that I read the masters, both modern and ancient.
Today's kids? Well, they're being taught by my classmates, most of whom are unfit to teach a boy how to take a piss in the woods.

Yet another American killed by illegal aliens
Hey Dave, why do you carry again? Huh. Oh yeah. Because the Federal Government is essentially importing these fucking animals as fast as they can, and shows no signs of stopping.

An illegal alien has been accused of murdering 28-year-old Paige Lane Gomer, an Oklahoma mother of one, in a shooting last week, according to local authorities.
Ramon Hector Martine Ontiveros, a 33-year-old illegal alien from Mexico, allegedly shotand killed 28-year-old Gomer in a shooting on March 21. Police have said Ontiveros has admitted to shooting Gomer, and the alleged murder is still being investigated.
Bring back public executions.

Russia, Russia, Russia!
How did we get here from there? If someone wrote a script detailing the level of corruption and evil in the Democrat Party, Hollywood would turn it down and say it wasn't believable.
This is just the beginning of how corrupt our government truly is.

They wake up every day thinking this could be the day that Mueller gets Trump. These poor souls should be facing a tough reality this weekend. But hold the Xanax, at least for now. The media and Democrat Party have dug themselves so deeply in a hole, they must keep on digging. That’s absolutely terrible for this country, as has been this entire endeavor.
This is just the beginning of how corrupt our government truly is.
As soon as the Clinton campaign realized its misdeeds toward Bernie had been made public, they blamed Russia. They immediately began putting out a narrativethat attempted to say Russia had acted to favor Trump, which included paying Fusion GPS—a notorious propaganda outfit with ties to loads of so-called journalists—to create ties between Trump and Russia.
Fusion GPS then hired a former British spy, Chris Steele, to boost their credibility. He used a different British guy with ties to the Kremlin, Edward Baumgartner, who employed unknown Russians to write a series of Word documents that alleged Trump-Russia collusion.
Meanwhile, Clinton stooge Cody Shearer wrote other documents that alleged Trump-Russia collusion, and Clinton stooge Sidney Blumenthal disseminated those documents into the Obama State Department with the help of would-be Clinton administration secretary of state Victoria Nuland. The State Department people then gave those documents to the FBI.
In short, the Hillary campaign peppered the Obama executive branch with allegations of Trump-Russia collusion. The Obama intelligence apparatus, pushed on by Obama’s Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, was only too happy to run with it. Jim Comey’s FBI then used those Word documents to get a warrant from a secret court to spy on Carter Page, a former Trump campaign aide, which allowed the FBI to spy on the rival political party’s presidential campaign.

Had you asked me a couple of years ago, I would have been all manly-man grunting "Single Stack better be a 1911! 45 ACP all the way! UG UG UG!" But after living in the South for a period of time? Holy moly, folks. I can't even begin to explain the climate to those who haven't experienced it. Wait, I can try: Go into your local gym. Go into the sauna. Crank up the heat to at least 90 degrees. Now dump water on to the rocks until the humidity is 90% or higher. Do this in your work clothes. Do this in casual clothing. And then sit there for 24 hours and tell me just how concealable your pistol is.
My current carry pistol is the Ruger LC9s Pro, with an extra magazine. That's a total of 15 rounds of hollowpoint 9mm goodness. And most importantly, that little pistol disappears under a light shirt. Remember, the name of the game is CONCEALED carry. Once I move back up North, I'll carry my double-stack 9mm or my 1911 again, when clothing is bulky enough that nobody sees it. But for right now? Small pistol good.

On the Democrat's dashed hopes, and their addiction to their hatred

They're not going to stop screaming. Instead, their screaming is going to ratchet up to previously unheard of levels.
An addiction begins to end when the drug is withdrawn, but the addict can and often does substitute another. Democrats have been preparing the new drug, much like the old one: Congressional investigations. And if the Mueller report isn’t released to the public they will say there is something (or perhaps many things) that is being hidden, something important. If it is released to the public they will comb through it, much as they did with Sarah Palin’s garbage, looking for a smoking gun (mixed metaphor, I know) or at least a faint whiff of smoke. No doubt they will find something to feed their habit.

What really needs to be understood is that the Left didn't actually think that Trump colluded with Russia. They simply wanted to attack Trump and hope that the very accusations of collusion would be enough to remove him from office. They hoped that the accusation after accusation, parroted by the Democrat Media Complex, would be enough to force the population of America to demand that Trump resign. Because let's face it - had Trump been a typical GOP cuck, he would have stepped down and apologized profusely for non existent crimes rather than fight back.
But Trump isn't some spineless GOP flunky.
And so the Democrats plowed on pushing a bullshit narrative, that everybody knew was bullshit.
Look for the Democrats to now pivot to attacking any criminal act as small as a parking ticket associated with anyone that might have possibly be in Trump's circle. This is standard National Socialist Democrat Worker's Party tactics. Ignore the truth, and keep attacking. The Walking, Talking Sack of Shit Jerrold Nadler has already signaled that he's going to destroy anyone associated with Trump on any trumped up charges he can manufacture. It doesn't matter what the truth is, the only think that Slimy Anal Wart Jerrold Nadler cares about is removing Trump from office.
If Trump wins in 2020, expect the rage and bullshit to increase. Up to 11, even.

Ichiro has retired
I moved to Seattle in late 2000, and I was in the ballpark for plenty of games in 2001, his first year in the Major Leagues. Man, he was awesome to watch.
The Mariners showed class. Ichiro had "partially retired" last year, but the Mariners kept him on so that he could play his last games in Japan. I regret that he never got to win a World Series, but he's not the first world-class player who never made it, and he won't be the last.

I can remember the protests against the war in Iraq, where Leftists held banners against war, against the USA, against GW Bush, and most especially against Jews. Caricatures of Jews as hooked-nose monsters, Jews as blood-sucking vampires, and (laughably) Jews as Nazis. A photo blogger with the nom de cyber of "Zombie" documented such things, with graphic evidence. Here's just one small example:

There's a big part of me that says "Let them get what they vote for, and let them get it good and hard." The new Democrat Darlings, Ilhan Omar, Rancid Tlaib, and the de-facto Speaker of the House Alexandria Ocasio-Chavez are as anti-Semitic as they come, and it shows no signs of slowing down.
And American Jews vote Democrat by overwhelming margins.

Perique
Perique is a type of tobacco made only in Louisiana. The short story is that they grow the tobacco in one particular location, then process it by marinating it in its own juice. The end result is a tobacco that is extremely peppery and flavorful.
The Crescent City Cigar Shop has a house blend cigar that is made using Perique tobacco. It's rather delightful. I'm enjoying it right now with a good single malt.

Homosexuality in religion
Here's a rather good summation of why SJWs are destroying religion and churches in America.
Any church that openly embraces homosexuality is going to eventually fail. You cannot claim to be a house of God while simultaneously endorsing the very actions that God has called a sin. The Episcopal Church threw their lot in with homosexuality, and divorced themselves from God in order to do so. The Episcopal Church used to have quite a bit of clout in America. Nowadays, they're spending more to maintain empty churches than they are taking in through tithing. The Social Justice Warriors love the Episcopal Church now, but that does't translate into people actually going to church. The love of modern society is ephemeral and meaningless. The love of God is solid as a rock and unchanging, because God is unchanging.
When you divorce yourself from God in order to embrace modern society, the result is death. The Methodists just ducked that bullet, but if they don't remain strong they'll suffer the same fate.
The Catholic Church in America is also dying off for much the same reason. Vatican 2 essentially turned Catholic Churches into protestant ones, and if there's no real difference in how you treat God, people will just.... drift away. Couple that with an onslaught of effeminate gay priests, and you have a recipe for driving people out of the pews in droves. Men will not take their families to be lectured to by a lisping, limp-wristed Social Justice Warrior.
It should come as no surprise that the fastest growing areas in the Catholic Church, the ONLY areas that are experiencing growth, are the traditional orders. Masses in Latin. Nuns in habits. They don’t want only to be accepted in a congregation–that acceptance is reality throughout the nation–they want everyone to agree with their abolishment of the sin of homosexuality. Yet even that is not enough. They want to be universally praised for their courage and virtue in living the very sin they seek to abolish, and they want everyone else to pay for it.
Those with doctrinal arguments with a given denomination can easily seek another congregation, or another denomination. In so doing, they force nothing on others, they take none of their resources, and their fidelity in following God’s word is between them and God. But those who seek to transform a congregation, the beliefs of a denomination, or of Christianity, by force, will quickly discover the real meaning of disapproval, and like us all, will have to answer to God.
This is personal weakness and socialist politics. It’s not wise to try to include God in that.
Any church that openly embraces homosexuality is going to eventually fail. You cannot claim to be a house of God while simultaneously endorsing the very actions that God has called a sin. The Episcopal Church threw their lot in with homosexuality, and divorced themselves from God in order to do so. The Episcopal Church used to have quite a bit of clout in America. Nowadays, they're spending more to maintain empty churches than they are taking in through tithing. The Social Justice Warriors love the Episcopal Church now, but that does't translate into people actually going to church. The love of modern society is ephemeral and meaningless. The love of God is solid as a rock and unchanging, because God is unchanging.
When you divorce yourself from God in order to embrace modern society, the result is death. The Methodists just ducked that bullet, but if they don't remain strong they'll suffer the same fate.
The Catholic Church in America is also dying off for much the same reason. Vatican 2 essentially turned Catholic Churches into protestant ones, and if there's no real difference in how you treat God, people will just.... drift away. Couple that with an onslaught of effeminate gay priests, and you have a recipe for driving people out of the pews in droves. Men will not take their families to be lectured to by a lisping, limp-wristed Social Justice Warrior.
It should come as no surprise that the fastest growing areas in the Catholic Church, the ONLY areas that are experiencing growth, are the traditional orders. Masses in Latin. Nuns in habits. I'm sorry Mr. Fernandez, but we've crossed that Rubicon already

The public belief that the government is above the fray and won't sell anyone out? I'll pause here for the laughter to die down.
The one and only thing the government seems to be good at is screwing over the average American for someone else's benefit. I don't have any belief that the US Government won't sell me out. Based on past actions, I have every faith in the world that the US Government will sell us out in a red hot minute the moment it has the opportunity, and it is only the threat of armed resistance that prevents them from doing so immediately.
Does that seem pessimistic? Then ask yourself why the US government refuses to stop the flood of illegal immigrants into this country despite there being an overwhelming percentage of the population that wants our immigration laws enforced.
Because the US Government doesn't give a shit about you, you're nothing but an inconvenience. They won't have to deal with the end results of illegal criminals flooding THEIR communities. They won't have to deal with the crime and the drugs and the deaths and the kidnappings and the sex trafficking.
Wait - they probably WANT the sex trafficking, because too many of them are degenerate perverts. If they allow the illegal aliens to bring their child sex slaves into America then they can satisfy their lusts here at home instead of having to fly to the Dominican Republic. Right, Senator Menendez from New Jersey?
The people currently infesting Washington D.C. don't want to live with you, they want to rule over you. And with that as their goal, they will abandon you to the wolves at the first opportunity. They'll screw you over in a heartbeat and walk away smiling. And as has been proven by the 2016 election, the government is not above the fray, they are not looking out for the country's best interests, and they are not above abusing their power in pursuit of a political goal. In fact, they absolutely DO abuse their power for political goals, and will do so again.
But perhaps the absolute worst thing politicians can do is respond by collecting guns, imposing hate speech restrictions, and announcing open borders. In the current atmosphere of distrust toward authority, such actions can destroy the only asset a state faced with ethnic conflict has: the public belief that it is above the fray and won't sell anyone out. That quantity can itself run out and therein lies the danger.

The FBI was aware of Steele's "sources" but still used the dossier to convince a FISA judge to issue a warrant against Trump campaign aide Carter Page. That the FBI has, to this day, refused to verify the authenticity of the information in the dossier is not surprising. A document as flawed as this should never have been presented to a FISA court as justification for granting a warrant to spy on Carter Page. It makes the FBI look ridiculous.

These two statements can be true at the same time:
1) I am horrified at the senseless slaughter of random people, and condemn it in the strongest terms possible.
2) I can understand how the shooter got to this state of homicidal rage when faced with governments and nations who do absolutely nothing in the face of Islamic terrorism and invasion except mouth empty platitudes.
In all honesty, I'm waiting for something like this to happen in America, either in places where they've imported Somalis (Minnesota and Maine) who refuse to assimilate, or after an illegal alien kills yet another American citizen, we find out they were deported X times over, lived in a sanctuary city, and a family member of the dead American decides they've had just about enough.
That doesn't justify it. That doesn't make it right. But you can see the situations forming. You can see the conditions coming together bit by bit, and at best our government doesn't care. At worst? Well, we already know the Democrats are trying to bring in as many illegal aliens as possible so that they can get new voters. Extrapolate from there.

Twitter bans another conservative
Folks, about this time the only thing that Twitter is good for, is to be able to read what the anti-American enemies of freedom are saying when they think no one else is listening. More of "Bluegrass is hard"
Most songs run off of a mathematical progression - 1 : 4 : 5. If you take a song in the chord of C, the following chord will be F, followed by C, followed by G. You can switch it around to 1 : 4 : 5, but the old adage of "Three chords and the truth" holds true for just about any country song.

News you can use
Specifically as it relates to defensive handgun use. I know that there are still a lot of people out there who sneer at smaller calibers when it comes to self defense, but with the improvements in smaller defensive rounds, such as 9mm and .380 ACP, the difference is negligible.
What's the point of this? Avoid mouse guns, but other than that carry the gun that you are comfortable with. Five rounds of .380 hollowpoints in the torso is just as good as five rounds of .45 when it comes to stopping a threat. And let's remember, the goal is not to Dirty Harry your way through a war zone. The goal is to stop the threat and get away alive. You want to fight a war, get weapons chambered for war. You want to make sure you get home alive on Saturday night, you carry a gun that is concealable and accurate for you to shoot.

William’s grandmother, Karen Fisher, told Fox 13 she was “pretty upset” by the incident and received a call from the school’s principal and the teacher who ordered the cross to be washed off.
“I asked her if she read the Constitution with the First Amendment, and she said, 'No,'” Fisher said.
Emphasis mine. Folks, the publik skool sistim is nothing more than daycare for feral youth and the good kids unlucky enough to be forced into these government indoctrination centers. Find any other way of educating your children if you want them to be successful. Homeschool them. Private schools. Charter schools. Parochial schools. But for the love of all that is good and holy, do not force your children to suffer in a public school. There might be a few success stories coming out of publik skool, but there are far, far more examples of good kids being destroyed by their publik skool experience.
What a difference a couple decades make.
So, for the past few days I've been at Fort Hood, Texas. Rather busy. But the last time I had been at Hood was back in 1999, when young SP4 Dave was doing mobilization training for a little trip to Bosnia.
Can't say I ever wanted to come back after that trip. But a couple of decades in between visits can change a place. It's still Central Texas, which means it's flat, hot and windy. Not my preferred climate. But other than a month or two in the summer, this wouldn't be a bad place to live.
Oh, and every single Army base still has that one road that is the cheap, run-down, used car lot, crappy bars, strip joints and criminal enterprises drag. That hasn't changed. At Fort Riley, we called that place "Junction City".
Anyone who's been stationed at Riley knows exactly what I mean.
Going home today, so I get to sleep in my own bed. The lodging on post isn't bad, but it's not mine. It doesn't have my wife and a home-cooked meal. Which, by the way, should be meat-free today, as we are in the season of Lent, and every Friday you should be abstaining from meat. The Mrs. and I do that all year round, but it's even more important during Lent. Just an FYI.
