Osama bin Ladin famously said that if given a choice between a weak horse and a strong horse, people will pick the strong horse every time. Well, I'd say the Middle East has seen just how weak Obama the gutless punk pussy truly is, and they've made their choice.
We're going to be dealing with the damage from Obama's inaction for decades to come. As Insty puts it, the BEST outcome we can hope for is a Carter-esque type legacy. But I don't think we'll be that lucky.

Today's musical post
Came to me as I was reading my latest edition of NRODT and found that George Shearing had died.
My first introduction to George Shearing came from Ella Fitzgerald, who took that song from up above and made it her own, but you can still hear George playing through every note she sings.
Enjoy. I'm off to a friend's house.

Self education
Oh yes.
What I find amazing is that "modern" society is finally getting back to the place it started from. For centuries, parents have been responsible for teaching their children. I have some of the old books for English and Grammar for THIRD GRADE, and they're far more complex and advanced than what is being taught in high school today. The public education system is a complete and total failure. Tear it down. WE DO NOT NEED IT. We need a system that allows children to learn.

Linky Love today
Dem congresscritter calls for union protests to "get a little bloody". I'm at the point right now where if I saw a union goon beating a Tea Partier? That union goon would be eating his dinners through a straw for a good long while. I wouldn't kill him, but he'd be begging me to do so.
Obama the gutless, nutless, spineless little punk bitch votes "Present" on Libya. Go figure. It's all he knows how to do.
Democrat American Communist Party Members of Wisconsin Lie. Nothing new or out of the ordinary there. Dog bites man story, if you ask me.
Whichever brainless fucking prick at the Daily Show decided that bringing a camel to Madison Wisconsin in the middle of FEBRUARY was a good idea needs to be fired. Now. And take John Stewart with them.
Rahm Emanuel is Chicago's newMafia Don Mob Boss Corrupt piece of shit in charge Mayor. Who didn't see that coming? Let me repeat one of my earlier statements - Chicago sucks so hard I'm amazed it doesn't drain the water out of Lake Michigan. What a fucking cesspool of corruption and crime.
Gah. That's enough for one night.

Gah. Paperwork.
I've just about had my fill of paperwork this week. Between finalizing by-laws and re-writing SOP, I've seen so much damn paper in my hands that I want to just puke. I understand the need for it, I just never, EVER in my life saw myself being in the position to write it. SOP's were what the people in charge wrote! I was never going to do that! And yet there I sat today, going over line, point and paragraph, detailing our procedures for the people who follow us some time in the future.

The "For Working Families" Lie
I saw a news clip of the Wisconsin legislature today, where all the Democrat American Communist Party members were wearing orange t-shirts with "I fight for working families" printed on them.
I lost it.
Working families? How about the working families who don't suck off the public teat, you pompous fucking assholes? How about the working families to have to pay their own pensions, or who don't have pensions and have to pay into an IRA or some other self-reliant retirement fund? How about all the working families that pay shitloads of taxes in Wisconsin to pay for self-indulgent public employee pensions? Do you give a fuck about THOSE working families? Hell no you don't! How about all the working families that are watching their state sink into a sea of red ink from over-spending and the public unions demanding ever more money from the taxpayer's pocket? Do all those Donks give a shit about THOSE working families?
Fuck no they don't. They only give a shit about the "working families" that can feed millions of dollars into their political pockets. They don't give a shit about working families unless they can soak them for their re-election funds. They only give a shit about working families when they can use them as never-ending ATM machines for their socialist pipe-dreams.
Other than that, they don't give a fuck about working families, and they never will.
I lost it.

About Damn Time
Wisconsin Gov. Walker threatens to terminate truant state employees.
Like I said - there are quite a few unemployed people in Wisconsin who would love to have those cushy state jobs. Let's create a few vacancies!

And even more snow
Shoveled a bunch more global warming off of my sidewalks today. I don't think I would hurt this much after three straight days of shoveling that white, cold, fluffy global warming except that I live on a corner, and have twice as much to shovel.
My arms and back are letting me know that I've become a fat, lazy slob and I need to work out more.

By the way
Every teacher marching around Madison tomorrow needs to be fired. There are plenty of people in this state who could teach. Hell, let's find an unemployed historian to teach history. Let's find an economist who's been laid off to teach math or economics. We have people who have been out of work for months in this state. I bet a lot of them would love to teach their actual occupation.
The REAL Death of the Music Industry?
Well, you can have all these charts to say that people are buying less music, yes.
But that doesn't take into effect that the majority of "music" produced today is over-produced piles of shit, regurgitated by the same few groups of people, with identical canned rhythms and beats. That doesn't take into effect the fact that most CD's today are "over-mastered" and sound like crap. That doesn't take into effect the fact that most musical "talent" today is more about tits and ass, and less about actual, y'know, MUSICAL TALENT.
Brittany Spears, anyone?
You can whip out all the charts you care to, but if you want to understand the reasons behind the music industries decline all you have to do is look at the so-called quality of the music being put out. THAT is why the industry is dying.

Iraqi Vet, Idaho Native, heckled at Columbia University
I saw this yesterday, but I'm really, REALLY trying to at least be nice on Sundays, so I left it alone. Didn't touch it. Because I didn't want to lose my cool and call the anti-American, cock-biting trust-fund red diaper doper babies what they were.
In order to completely describe just how abhorrent the behavior of Columbia University is we'd have to invent another thesaurus. And yes, it's the ENTIRE FUCKING UNIVERSITY, teachers, administrators, and students who display this behavior. I say pull every last bit of federal funding away from the Columbia University Hate-Mongers and let them sink. The only people who would shed a tear would be the afore-mentioned red diaper doper babies.
And people wonder why I don't want to go back to school? What the fuck could they teach me? How to hate America 101? Destroying the country that raised you? Yay.
Behavior like that of Columbia’s anti-military crowd toward Mascheck is rude, crass, childish, and demonstrates a cosseted ignorance that they, for some reason, seem eager to display. It speaks to the fact that differing opinions are not welcome. And civil debate? Why bother with that when you can bravely stand up and call a wounded warrior a “racist” for simply expressing himself in an open forum?
This sort of bratty behavior toward a man who literally bled on their behalf only demonstrates for all the the emptiness of words like “tolerance”, “civility”, “acceptance” and “equality” for the Columbia anti-war students who jeered and laughed at this man. They should be mortally ashamed of themselves.

More Winter on the way
I don't care what some groundhog says, it's wintertime until Old Man Winter is done. And he's done only when he wants to be done.
That six inches of global warming I shoveled off yesterday afternoon sure doesn't look like Spring to me. And the rest of the global warming I have to go shovel today doesn't look like Spring either.

Winter Storm Warning
Walked to church this morning. Sidewalks were dry and clear. It was 29 degrees according to the bank clock. No real wind to speak of.
Walked out of church a little over an hour later. Thick snow coating the ground, with half an inch already accumulated. Strong wind blowing snow in my face. It was 29 degrees, according to the bank clock as I walked home.
Ah, the winters in Wisconsin. If you don't like the weather, just wait for a little bit and it will change. Hell, last Sunday when I ran it was 54 degrees out.

I can't make it to Madison today. As much as I want to be there protesting against the union goons, it's just not going to happen.

Going for a drive
I think I know where I'll be tomorrow.
It's time to stand up to the thugs, union bullies and Leftard asshats. But I repeat myself. If the nutless, gutless punk bitchDemocrat American Communist Party wants to run and hide, fire them. If the teachers want to call in sick and shut down schools, fire them. Every last one of those greedy fucking cocksuckers who pull a public paycheck and who refuses to do their job needs to be fired. Get rid of them, and hire people who will actually DO THEIR FUCKING JOB!
Madison - Tea Party groups plan to show their support for Gov. Scott Walker's budget repair bill as they scheduled a rally for Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the State Capitol South Entrance.
The event was announced Thursday by American Majority, a conservative group headquartered in Virginia with offices in several states, including Wisconsin.
In a news release issued by state director Matt Batzel, the group said: "As the week has progressed, Wisconsin and the Nation have watched schools across Wisconsin close due to teachers participating in a 'sick out,' the unions busing people in from other states to inflate their rally numbers in Madison and legislators fleeing the state to avoid the vote on the budget repair bill. It's time the voices of the Wisconsin people are heard."
Tea Party groups have held several well-attended rallies in the past in Madison, usually on April 15.

Idiots in Madison
So the Unions were out in force in Madison yesterday protesting Gov. Walker's attempts to keep Wisconsin fiscally solvent. Since most Union members in Wisconsin are Leftists, they have no clue how an economy really works, and they're more than happy to watch Wisconsin go into debt rather than accept one iota of cuts to their public pensions. Speeches and rallies have been predictable in nature - inane, bumper-sticker chanting and threats of violence to Walker and others. Michelle Malkin has a round up of posts. It's disgusting. This state is billions in the hole, but the public labor unions can't be bothered to care about that. They want their fucking money, and they'll gut this state to get it. They want their fucking money, and they'll fuck over every private tax-paying citizen in order to get it. Fuck them. Fuck them with a chainsaw.
And what really chaps my hide is the teachers unions. I guess about half the teachers called in sick in order to go protest, and more teachers pushed their kids to go protest, even though the kids don't even know what they're protesting for. Given the state of Wisconsin schools and the "education" the kids get, I'd love to see every one of those teachers fired. I can't remember where I saw it, but someone else pointed out that given the fact each child represents $10,000 per year in government spending, that means a classroom of 25, which is reasonable, represents $250,000 a year in spending. One quarter of a million dollars.
Where the fuck is all that money going?

If you haven't seen it
Go watch Niall Ferguson absolutely destroy Obama's foreign policy in Egypt, as well as all the MSNBC tools who are trying to claim that Obama did a good job.
Again, this is what you get when you elected an overstuffed Marxist buffoon from the Chicago political machine to the Oval Office. Obama would be out of his depth in a mud puddle.

Ethanol still sucks
And it's still not a good fuel to burn in your vehicles or small motor. Alcohol is either for drinking or for sanitizing, folks. Not for putting in your gas tank.
And the government is going to waste MORE money on ethanol subsidies. Yay.

The Republican Killing Budget?
Ace is of the opinion that this budget could kill the Republican majority in the house, and make us lose seats in the Senate:
(emphasis in the original)
Me, I think that Ace is partially correct. Obama is a gutless punk cocksucker who refuses to lead because that would be hard and he might get some schmutz on his neatly pressed and creased jeans by doing so. And he's hoping that the Republicans get dirty cutting his budget. But the fact that the gutless punk cocksucker pushed this fraud of a budget on the country can work in our favor:
I tend to think that both Mr. Porretto and Ace are correct: Obama is a gutless punk cocksucker with a massive ego who is a hard-core dedicated Marxist and who refuses to admit when he's wrong. There, that was easy, wasn't it?
In all seriousness, the budget that the House of Representatives comes up with is going to go a long way in determining whether or not this country stays on it's feet for the next decade. Folks, Obama's budget is perfectly rational when you understand that it's all part of the Cloward-Piven strategy to topple America. But yes, spending has to be slashed, the adults will have to do the slashing, and I expect that theDemocrat Gutless Punk Cocksucker Party will use that to their advantage in 2012. But this isn't a repeat of 1994, no matter how many people try to make that comparison. This time we actually have people who are willing to say "Look folks, we do not have the money. Period." And judging by how many states now have Republicans or Conservatives running their state governments, I think that America is probably in a better position to listen to that message than they were in 1995 or 96.
But be that as it may, someone has to lead the country, and as our Non-President just wants to fucking golf and talk about how awesome he is, I guess it's up to the people the Constitution doesn't nominate as national leaders to step into the Great Void of Incompetence and Cowardice left by the Bammy-Bam and do something for America.
Okay, here it is, everyone: We've long had a dispute about whether it's better to do the right thing, no matter how unpopular it is or fudge on doing the right thing to stay electable.
We're about to face this dilemma because the GOP is going forward with a plan to reform entitlement spending.
(emphasis in the original)

The White House is in the hands of a socialist. His policy preferences are unchanged from 2009. He refuses to acknowledge that the nation has repudiated his direction. Either he thinks himself so much smarter than the rest of us that he cannot possibly be wrong, or his ego is too large to allow even the harshest chastisement from reality to deflect him from his chosen course. Or both.

From Sondra K - 15 Tax Hikes hidden in Obama's budget. BOHICA!
* Raising the top marginal income tax rate (at which a majority of small business profits face taxation) from 35% to 39.6%. This is a $709 billion/10 year tax hike
* Raising the capital gains and dividends rate from 15% to 20%
* Raising the death tax rate from 35% to 45% and lowering the death tax exemption amount from $5 million ($10 million for couples) to $3.5 million. This is a $98 billion/ten year tax hike
* Capping the value of itemized deductions at the 28% bracket rate. This will effectively cut tax deductions for mortgage interest, charitable contributions, property taxes, state and local income or sales taxes, out-of-pocket medical expenses, and unreimbursed employee business expenses. A new means-tested phaseout of itemized deductions limits them even more. This is a $321 billion/ten year tax hike
* New bank taxes totaling $33 billion over ten years
* New international corporate tax hikes totaling $129 billion over ten years
* New life insurance company taxes totaling $14 billion over ten years
* Massive new taxes on energy, including LIFO repeal, Superfund, domestic energy manufacturing, and many others totaling $120 billion over ten years
* Increasing unemployment payroll taxes by $15 billion over ten years
* Taxing management capital gains in an investment partnership (“carried interest”) as ordinary income. This is a tax hike of $15 billion over ten years
* A giveaway to the trial lawyers—not letting companies deduct the cost of punitive damages from a lawsuit settlement. This is a tax hike of $300 million over ten years
* Increasing tax penalties, information reporting, and IRS information sharing. This is a ten-year tax hike of $20 billion.
More taxes! Enjoy! And the best part is he's going to claim that he isn't raising taxes!

Food preservation
So Serenity talks about wanting to preserve food. The Ragin' Mrs. and I already preserve quite a bit, although we could probably preserve a lot more if we wanted to. And we probably SHOULD preserve more. Grow it or get it while it's cheap in the summer, and can it.
"But Dave, why do that when I can go to the store and buy it? Why can green beans when I can get them fresh, even in January?"
Because of Glow-bull Warming, of course!
Go out, get canning jars, find the Bell Blue Book of food preservation, and stock up during the summer. We just had corn with dinner last night that we had canned back in August, and the smell of it was heavenly. We can our own tomato sauce. Hell, we canned chicken that we still need to use. We can our own chicken stock and pork stock. Have you seen all the extra crap they put in Chicken stock these days? YEAST extract? Why the hell do they need to put yeast extract in chicken stock? Screw that crap, we'll make our own. We have a few jars of our home-grown carrots downstairs in the pantry as well.
And I'm thinking that this year's garden is going to be based quite a bit on what we'll be able to can.
And yes, anyone who still believes that Global Warming is going to cook us all is a fucking idiot. In fact, it's one of those self-identifying traits that make it easy for me to ignore someone. "WE NEED TO SAVE THE PLANET FROM GLOBAL WARMING!" Oh we do, do we? Tell ya what, why don't you go over there and shout that. The adults are busy insulating the house and preserving food for the wintertime, which seems to be heading further and further south every year.

The extreme freezing temperatures hit a very broad section of major growing regions in Mexico, from Hermosillo in the north all the way south to Los Mochis and even south of Culiacan. The early reports are still coming in but most are showing losses of crops in the range of 80 to 100%.
Even shade house product was hit by the extremely cold temps. It will take 7-10 days to have a clearer picture from growers and field supervisors, but these growing regions haven’t had cold like this in over a half century.
This time of year, Mexico supplies a significant percent of North America’s row crop vegetables such as green beans, eggplant, cucumbers, squash, peppers, asparagus, and round and roma tomatoes.

This explains Nanny Bloomburg
Kevin Baker links to a post called Moral Communism, that explains how the Marxists first make a behavior immoral, then pass laws to ban it.
NYC bans Trans-fats, smoking in public, salty foods. California bans smoking and a host of other things. Taxes on tobacco. "Soft drink" taxes. How many things have been banned or taxed for "our own good"?
And Bingo. I've had the "heartless capitalist" argument used against me more than once. It was effective until I pretty much became heartless in the context of the "pore 'n starvin", having dealt with them far too often when I lived in Seattle and found out that they're poor and starving because they refuse to hold a job, or they're strung out on their drug of choice.
The only way I know of to counter this argument is to show the Marxist as a hypocrite who doesn't give a damn about the "damned thing" at all, he only wants more government control. And that's not an easy thing to do.
So finally I get back to the Moral Law. Moral Law in anglosphere societies has, in the past, been fairly limited in scope, addressing a limited range of “vices” generally inherited from the Christian moral code. There was remarkably little even of that prior to the nineteenth century- it was the Church’s job to look after our immortal souls, not the secular law’s job. Prostitution was generally legal, beer was unregulated, you could gamble as much as you like, and so on. Henry VIII introduced the Sodomy Law, inherited from canon law when he nationalised the Church, but that seems to have only been really used against egregious pederasts. Even Oscar Wilde was only persecuted because he was blatant, foolish, and The Marquess of Queensberry’s other son was being buggered by the Prime Minister Lord Rosebery, who was beyond the infuriated Queensberry’s grasp for obvious reasons.
In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the Reformers and Progressives began expanding the Moral Law sphere. Temperance laws, obscenity laws, and so on. But in the past few decades we have found entire new spheres of human activity come under the Moralist system. Our interactions with other people; what we may say to them or about them, how we may generally treat them, the treatment of animals, the treatment of homosexuals (protected) and paedophiles (damned). Smoking, of course. And, in emulation of non-Christian religions, even the foods we eat or how fat we may be. And of course, that huge new moral sphere, “the environment”.
NYC bans Trans-fats, smoking in public, salty foods. California bans smoking and a host of other things. Taxes on tobacco. "Soft drink" taxes. How many things have been banned or taxed for "our own good"?
So instead, they go for a two stage process. First of all, they persuade people that some Damned Thing is immoral. Then they show that the free market allows or encourages that immoral thing. Then they can say, “well, we wish we didn’t have to do this, but I’m afraid we’re going to have to intervene in that part of the economy, to stop the Damned Thing, sorry”. This leaves the free marketeer floundering around having to try to justify the continuance of the Damned Thing in the name of some nebulous “liberty”. And then they say, “so your selfish desire for “liberty” means this Damned Thing must go on?” and you lose the argument in public, because most of the audience have been persuaded that there is a moral crisis that must be addressed, and you are a heartless asshole who just doesn’t care.

Earworm
I don't know why, but this song has been in my head quite a bit recently.
I've kind of had this neo-Celtic longing going on, and this woman's voice, and the beat of the song just remind me of that. Hell, I haven't been happy with much of modern music for a while. It's like the same fucking bubble-gum crap producers that inflicted Britteny Spears and the Backstreet Boys on us have now taken over the entire music industry, including country. I know there's good music out there. But it never seems to hit the airwaves these days. Songs like this:
I know that Allison Krause is NOT the only voice out there. But all we get these days is the same no-talent crap that turned me off from "rock" music. I listened to Keith Urban play his show before the Super Bowl, and I was disappointed. It seems he relies on his studio to make him sound good. And that bugs me. When I went to my last concert many moons ago, Brooks and Dunn sounded just as good live as they did off their album. That's how it should be! If you have to rely on a soundboard and a computer to make yourself sound good, then I don't want to buy your music.
Blah. I'm turning into my father. But is it too much to ask for the artists being dumped out of the studios for our display to have the talent we're told they have?

Homebrewing
I never did tell you how my first batch of mead came out, did I? We ended up using a sherry yeast, because both the Ragin' Mrs. and I enjoy a good sherry. It turned out... well... awesome. Using honey made it both rich and sweet, and the sherry yeast gave it a unique flavor that you can't buy anywhere. One batch we added pomegranate juice to, and the results are spectacular.
Needless to say, we're brewing up a few more batches of various things. As of right now I have a hard apple cider fermenting in my basement, a batch of apple-honey wine, and three different melomels, which are mead mixed with some sort of fruit. We have an apple melomel, a cherry melomel, and one melomel that mixed with spiced mulled cider, which would make it a melomel metheglyn.
Yeah, I know, all these new terms. Melomel is mead made with fruit added into it. Metheglyn is mead made with herbs and spices added in.
And to top it all off, my buddy and I just started a five gallon batch of nut brown ale. We added a few more hops than you normally would, but that's just because we like them.
Later today, the Ragin' Mrs. and I are headed up to a home brew shop to pick up some supplies. Gonna make a day of it. Later, I'll take the dog for a walk and smoke a good cigar. So in short this day is going to be all about relaxing and enjoying myself. You know what I'm not going to do? Blog about the news. My blood pressure will thank me later.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to dine.

Changes, they are a'comin.....
Name change time again. I guess when you kick yourself free of whatever mooring you've been attached to for almost a decade, you tend to drift for a while before you find new ground.
In any case, as the blog header states, you can have peace, or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. That's one of my favorite quotes from Heinlein, and it's short enough to make a blog title out of. It tends to fit my personality a bit better than "Ense et Aratro" as well, in that I'm much more enamored of freedom than I am of peace.
Slavery can be peaceful. But I still don't want any.
I'll be making more changes in the next few days. Colors, backgrounds, etc. It'll still be me ranting and raving, but I'll be doing it in a different style, I guess.
Any opinions out there?

Roundup
CBO admits that Obamacare will kill 800,000 jobs. Enjoy!
On Egypt: If you aren't convinced that Obama is completely and totally out of his depth, then you haven't been watching him deal with the situation in Egypt. Obama is a fucking joke, the kind of sad fucking joke that can only come when a semi-intelligent out-of-touch Chicago hack Marxist gets pushed into the Oval Office by his Leftist buddies and the media (but I repeat myself). Enjoy watching our reputation get shot to hell!
And since we're on the subject of Obama, let's play a hypothetical game.
Emperor Misha has something to say about all those people who want rail, high speed rail, elevated rail, or any other kind of mass transit involving passenger cars and rails in any combination. Look, folks - rail makes sense in a very few, very small set of circumstances. And those circumstances as Misha points out do not really exist in America.
It's to the point that every time I hear a politician talking, or see them bloviating on TV, the only thing I can think of is Monty Python's Upperclass Twit of the Year Competition.
Enjoy. I'm off to check my email

A picture is worth a thousand words
So here are 3000+ words worth of how worthless Obama is on the economy. Enjoy!
Balls to the wall
Other than dinner with the Ragin' Mrs., I didn't actually sit down last night until about 2215 hrs. Crashed into my bed at about 2300. Woke up at 0530 after hitting the snooze a few times.
It's been like this for a while. Davey-boy is getting a wee bit tired. Although two nights ago I actually crashed at 2130, and slept hard through the night. Still tired.

I've been holding off
On the whole "Obama leaked British secrets to Russia" news because it's one of those "No, that can't be true" kind of things. But when Thomas Sowell is mentioning it.....
Once you realize that Obama is an anti-American piece of shit who's more emotionally connected to our enemies than to us, then the unthinkable becomes thinkable. Obama didn't become president because he loves America, he became president because he hates America and wants to change the country into something else. His actions towards our allies only underscore that point. What better way to show those American allies who's boss and what's what?
Israel, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Honduras, Egypt, Britain, all betrayed by Obama..... I'm afraid that we as a country won't have any actual allies once Obama is finished insulting, betraying and stabbing them in the back.
The British newspaper The Telegraph has reported that part of the price which President Obama paid to get Russia to sign the START treaty, limiting nuclear arms, was revealing to the Russians the hitherto secret size of the British nuclear arsenal. This information came from the latest WikiLeaks documents.
To betray vital military secrets of this country's oldest, most steadfast and most powerful ally, behind the back of the British government, is something that should set off alarm bells. Following in the wake of earlier betrayals of prior American commitments to put a nuclear shield in Eastern Europe, and the undermining ofIsrael and calculated insults to its prime minister, this pattern raises serious, and perhaps almost unthinkable, questions about the Obama administration's foreign policy.

Dear Fellow Public Restroom Users
If you're feeling the need to bring Tolstoy's War and Peace in the bathroom with you, perhaps a change of diet is in order? Or maybe I should bring you one of those drain clearing snakes for you to use? Anything that might get your constipated ass off of one of the two toilet seats that serve over 150 people every day so that I can take a shit in the five minutes I have to shit, get coffee, do a status report and then get my ass back to training?

I didn't watch it live
But after seeing Bill O'Reilly's interview with the Marxist Messiah on the internet, I'm glad I didn't watch it, and it made me determined to not watch his show the next time I'm around a TV.
Hey Bill - it's hard to understand what your questions were when you have your mouth wrapped around his balls. What a fucking joke.

Democrat calls on lobbyists to help fight off Republican Budget Cuts
Un-fucking-real.
Just another reason why theDemocrat American Communist Party needs to be brought before a judge and sent to jail for a looooooooooong time.
Just another reason why the
While I was away
Kevin Baker was on a roll. From Market Ticker:
So the Obama Administration will not follow the rule of law. However, the rule of law is the only thing to keep good men from responding and living under the rule of violence. We give up violent retribution to live under the rule of law. If the rule of law does not work, or is so corrupted that it now harms those it's supposed to protect, we will go back to the rule of violence until we can make the rule of law work again.
Saint Hopen'Change. Wiping his ass with the Constitution every day he's in office.
So now we have a White House that has declared its intent to ignore a declaratory judgment.
The Administration has no right to do this.
Obama's White House has exactly two options:
Comply with the ruling. This means that any and all activity authorized or mandated by the Statute cease now.
File an appeal and ask for a stay pending its hearing. If said stay is granted, then the ruling is held pending consideration.
That's it.
Folks, this is clear. The Judge in question, Judge Vinson, in fact sets forth exactly this in the opinion:
So the Obama Administration will not follow the rule of law. However, the rule of law is the only thing to keep good men from responding and living under the rule of violence. We give up violent retribution to live under the rule of law. If the rule of law does not work, or is so corrupted that it now harms those it's supposed to protect, we will go back to the rule of violence until we can make the rule of law work again.
This is now a full-blown Constitutional Crisis. The Executive's willful, intentional and publicly-stated refusal to honor a declaratory judgment is an open act of willful and intentional violation of The Separation of Powers in The Constitution and, if combined with the use of or threat of use of force as is alwayspresent when government coercion is employed, treads awfully close to the line, and may cross it, of 18 USC Ch 115 Sec 2384,
Saint Hopen'Change. Wiping his ass with the Constitution every day he's in office.

Another reason to abolish the ATF
They've gone from sheer incompetence to out-and-out corruption. When the ATF is selling guns to buyers in Mexico and then trumpeting the fact that US guns are being used by Mexican drug cartels, in order to shut down Americans who want to buy guns.....
Back to life...
Back to reality.....
We're so far beyond the need for tar and feathers it ain't funny.
Yup, you caught it – nothing involved in such a change would be “free of charge”. Instead others would be taxed or charged in order for women to not have to pay at the point of service. That’s it. Those who don’t have any need of contraception will subsidize those who do. And the argument, of course, will be the “common good”. The other argument will be that many women can’t afford “family planning services” or “contraception”.
But the assumption is the rest of you can afford to part with a little more of your hard earned cash in order to subsidize this effort (it is similar to other mandated care coverage you pay for but don’t need). Oh, and while reading that sentence, make sure you understand that the administration claims it has not taken over health care in this country.
We're so far beyond the need for tar and feathers it ain't funny.
Logged out
I spent the entire weekend away from the news. It was awesome. Of course, I still managed to watch the Packers beat the Steelers in the Superbowl, which FUCKING ROCKED.
It's not that I'm a rabid Packers fan, although I do root for them when the Seahawks aren't on. It's that I hate the Steelers that much. I knew that some Steeler's fans had made a deal with Lucifer when both Woodson and Shields went out with injuries. But the Pack managed to hold on, and never let the Steelers get ahead.
See kids? In the end, good can win!
And now back to the grindstone.

GO PACKERS!!
The Steelers sold their soul to have the refs give them the game in 2006, and they sold Big Ben's soul and reputation for their next win. They can't have much left to sell this time around. Maybe Polamalu's hair?

Busy all weekend. See you on Monday. In the meantime, toss out a few suggestions for the blog name. We already have a couple courtesy of Headhunter Nation.

Donk Senators scream "OBAMA ACKBAR!" once again
Obamacare repeal fails in the Senate. Women, Children most hurt.
We need to use those Donk's votes against them like a club for the next two years. Just beat the hell out of them with it.

Does the name fit?
Had someone email me about the new blog name. He's not in favor of it.
Thoughts? Advice? Suggestions? I have to admit that "Ense et Aratro" doesn't quite have the pissed-off ring that I'm looking for, but I don't know what the latin phrase is for "I will gouge out your commie eyeballs and skullfuck you", and even if I did know that I doubt it would make a good blog title.
Oh, and consider this the official shout-out to the 80th Fighter Squadron in Kunsan, Korea. I've actually been there. When I was stationed in 2ID, I had a friend who was stationed in Kunsan at the same time. I took a pass and went down to visit. That was my first experience with the Army vs. Air Force dichotomy. I believe I became temporarily famous when I blurted out "You have your own BATHROOM?" in front of a bunch of Air Force folks. Their response was "Don't you?"
Audentes Fortuna Juvat
or Fortune Favors the Bold.
The current unofficial slogan used in the Headhunter Nation, however is even better.
What Is Best?
From Conan the Barbarian:
Mongol General: Conan! What is best in life?
Conan: To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
Personally, in my humble opinion , I think that attitude matches your blog’s philosophy better than ‘Sword and Plow’, but that’s just me. And as philosophies go, it’s a better match for the times in which we live.

Arrogance personified
Or maybe Valerie Jarrett is just that fucking dumb. It could be both.
According to our tipster, Jarrett was seated at the head table along with several other big-name politicians and a handful of high-ranking military officials. As an officer sporting several stars walked past Jarrett, she signaled for his attention and said, “I’d like another glass of wine.”
Garçon!
White House economic adviser Austan Goolsbee, who was seated next to Jarret, began “cracking up nervously,” our tipster said, but no one pointed out to Jarrett that the man sporting a chestful of medals was not her waiter.
Sadly, I have no problem believing that it happened. And the Soldier did the right thing - didn't make a fuss, acted politely. What makes me puke is the fact that no civilian there corrected Jarrett and signaled for an actual waiter.
When I call the Left and this administration in particular "Anti-Military", I'm not joking.

Busy
This is the third day in a row I've been shoveling snow. Joy. I've got no time to blog, sorry. So instead, enjoy the Love Master. Kinda not-safe-for-work-ish, if you work in an uptight, stuffy place.

From my mail
And it may piss some people off, especially the non-religious variety. But it's still worth reading.
One of my biggest hang-ups with the repeal of DADT was that when people like myself asked questions or objected, we were shut down with "Be quiet you homophobe!" Hell, I had that response from some people on the Right, who should know better.
And now the deed is done, there's no putting the cat back in the bag, and those questions are still unanswered. Don't expect me to just meekly walk along and accept that flaming bag of crap. Repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell was nothing more than political kabuki theater. It had nothing to do with improving the military.
The recently disenfranchised lame duck Left pulled off its most extreme legislative coup thus far, by homosexualizing the United States military-using their own version of the admittedly lame Don't Ask, Don't Tell Clinton legislation.
DON'T ASK (Awkward Questions):
They did not ask, in a Pentagon poll, if repeal was morally appropriate. They asked whether, in practice, the implementation plan would work. By including those with "mixed feelings," they manufactured a 70% majority, although all but one of the leading generals were opposed and 75-85% of those fighting and dying for us (Marine and Army Combat Arms) said the repeal would have "negative, very negative, or mixed impact." By not really asking, the ideological politicians prevailed.
The real questions were neither asked nor debated in Congress. Few right wing pundits reacted and even the Church was strangely silent. Everyone is suffering from Don't Ask cultural lockjaw-except the Gays, who did not wait to be asked. They welcomed the vote as an "historic step," "ushering in a new era," "for the world," according to Toni Reis, president of the Brazilian Association for the Rights of Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transvestites.
I agree with Reis: something of immense importance occurred on Saturday, December 18, 2010. America will never be the same. Radically altered was the United States Military, the iconic symbol of American patriotism, committed to maintaining goodness and justice in the world, which is doubtless why so many Christians down the years have filled its ranks. I once led a Bible study in the Pentagon with thirty generals!
Patrick Buchanan describes the repeal as a "Christian Rout in the Culture War-a victory.for the new morality of the social revolution of the 1960s and a defeat for traditional Judeo-Christian values." Enacted on the verge of the winter solstice, this law ushers in a cultural winter: the new, pan-sexual spiritual society which declares homosexuality to be "the sacrament of monism." St. Paul's prophecy now also indicts many in the church who are or will be drawn into compromise on this issue: "they not only do them [things which are not fitting] but give approval to those who practice them" (Romans 1:32).
DON'T TELL (The Long-Term Consequences):
By not asking the right questions, our leaders also refused to tell the inevitable consequences of full homosexual acceptance:
* how disputes over sexual trysts will be adjudged in situations comparable to forced cohabitation of men with women;
* how the health of our troops will be affected (due to high rates of syphilis and other STDs, current U.S. health regulations prohibit men who have sex with men from donating blood);
* how recruitment will be affected , since over a half million soldiers have said they will quit the Armed Forces, and parents may refuse to send their teenage boys into situations of moral compromise;
* how soldiers with religious convictions against homosexuality will fare when exposed to re-education (indoctrination) and "sensitivity training" programs. (The hearings stated that there will be "zero tolerance of anyone who disagrees for any reason, including 'moral or religious beliefs.'") The rule will be: DON'T ASK AWKWARD QUESTIONS!
* how chaplains will survive. Will they be silenced or ejected? Their treatment will serve as a clear prophecy of how all Christian ministers will fare in tomorrow's gay-endorsing public square.
* how the future Armed Forces will function, once "cleansed" of biblically faithful chaplains and morally strong Christians soldiers. The Military will be handed over to moral and spiritual relativists ready to enforce the peace-loving pan-sexual, pan-religious agenda of a coming One-ist utopia, with no place for truth-telling.
GO TELL (The Two-ist Truth)
We cannot be silent. Truth must be spoken. "Go tell it on the mountain," says the hymn we sang at Christmas, "that Jesus Christ is born." A heavenly army of angelic warriors, glistening in holiness, crashed into our gray One-ist, homocosmological world from the outside. Our world is still rumbling with the aftershocks. An external saving truth that we could never imagine is available to rescue us from the false promises of the Lie. The Truth concerns the Creator, who differs from us creatures. He created a beautiful world of difference, a world that fell into idolatrous sameness. That Creator then condescended to save us sinners, gay or straight. Only the glorious Gospel of Two-ism explains the uncontainable joy evoked by the "random act of culture," at Philadelphia Macy's
Play it and weep tears of joy as, in the public square, Handel tells us, with exquisite beauty, the truth about Jesus.
Another German Christian, Martin Luther, extols our spiritual champion:
"Dost ASK who that may be?"
Luther TELLS us the name of the great soldier of faith:
Christ Jesus, it is He, Lord Sabaoth His name,
From age to age the same-And He must win the battle.

El Baradei
Wait, hold on - the guy who allowed Iran to get nuclear weapons started when it was his specific job to prevent that is now trying to become the leader of Egypt?
Yeah, that'll work out great, won't it? He's already a fucking stooge for the Muslim Brotherhood. This guy was giving Amadinijahd's nutsack a tongue-bath every time he went to Iran. Let's put him in charge! If that happens, Egypt is fucked. And anything that goes through the Suez Canal doubles in price within a year. Count on it.

If you can sit there without this song making you move some part of your body, you need to check your pulse. You might be dead. The saxophone hook just grabs you and makes you MOVE.
Oh yeah, Brian Setzer did a pretty good remake of it in the 90's.

Time for a name change?
Since there aren't four of us wackos, and haven't been for some time, I've been thinking about changing the name of the blog. Or just creating a whole new blog, but I don't want to lose all the posts on this one. I dunno.
Would any of my three readers care to chime in?
Possible bonus - if I create another blog, maybe the comments will finally work properly, instead of forcing people to click on the post's title just to see if there ARE any comments!

Overheard on the News
As I went about my business, was the question that made me grit my teeth - "Do you think this is Obama's 3 AM call?"
No, it is not.
Obama's 3 AM call came a year and a half ago, when 1.5 million Iranians cried out for freedom. And Obama let that call go to voicemail. Because that's what a gutless, spineless, nutless little bitch like Obama does. Just as he voted "present" for the majority of his Congressional career. Because that's waht a gutless, spineless, nutless little bitch does.
Anyone in the world hoping that America will actually help them in their quest for freedom is going to be disappointed as long as Obama the gutless, spineless, nutless little bitch is in office. The man doesn't give a flying fuck about freedom in THIS country. What makes you think he has any will to help YOU out?
Obama - as incompetent as Jimmy Carter, but twice as corrupt!
No, it is not.

Things that confuse Dave
When I walk into a public restroom, and I spot a toilet with one of those little toilet seat cover dispensers right next to it, and yet someone has felt the need to deforest several acres to supply the toilet paper that they've used to cover the toilet seat, the toilet, the walls, the rails, and the flush handle
Folks, just bring a little bottle of hand sanitizer with you, and wipe the toilet seat down. Done. There's no need to employ multiple logging companies just so you can prepare a public throne for you to crap on.

State of the Union speech
Didn't watch it. There wasn't enough alcohol in the house for me to go through that crap. I'll read the transcripts, so that when I get the urge to throw up I can put it down and come back to it later when my stomach has settled.
There's an App for that
If you've been living in a cave for the past few years, you'll be surprised to know that Apple has put a phone out, and there are thousands, maybe millions of applications, or "Apps" that you can download for said phone. Want to calculate mileage? There's an app for that. Want to find restaurants? There's an app for that. Want to know what kind of toilet paper cleans your ass best? There's an app for that.
You want to take a hysterical interview with one Antoine Dodson and turn it into a song and then an iPhone app featuring soundbytes from the interview?
There's an app for that.
Dear Lord, I wish there wasn't, because this is what I've been hearing from my co-workers for the last two weeks. BEFORE YOU CLICK - ONCE YOU SEE, YOU CANNOT UNSEE!
I had never heard of Antoine Dodson until two weeks ago. Now I'm going to go to my grave with that in my head. My co-workers are going to pay.
Oh, and from all accounts this Dodson is a decent guy. But that song? Whoever created that song is going to burn in hell for what they've done.

The Moscow Airport Terrorist Attack post
From Hot Air. There's nothing really that I can add. I feel sad for the Russians who lost their lives.
Not much more needs to be said.

I can't STAND unions
So between the post below this one regarding the SEIU getting waivers because they can't afford Obamacare, and this article about the decline of the private sector unions (which can only be a good thing) and the growth of the public sector unions (horrible horrible horrible), I figured I'd toss out my personal dealings with unions and why I think they're the sleaziest piles of crap on earth.
Way back when Dave had gotten out of the Army and was living and working in Seattle, Dave worked for the one section of a hospital which hasn't been unionized. When Dave had his job interview, he asked about wages. He asked about vacation time. He asked about sick leave. In short, Dave asked about all those things that a prospective employee will be compensated with for his hard work. Dave did not need a union. And Dave brought enough experience with him to demand a decent starting wage, which Dave got.
Fast forward a couple of years, and a one or two of Dave's fellow employees has decided that he isn't being heard enough, and he wants union representation. So he calls for a vote to unionize. Thank god this co-worker was in the minority, because after being forced to sit down and listen to the union reps, this is what Dave learned.
Dave would no longer be able to negotiate his salary, the union would do it.
Dave would no longer be able to negotiate his vacation accrual, the union would do it.
Dave would no longer be able to negotiate his sick leave accrual, the union would do it.
For the privilege of having these rights taken away, Dave would be charged $150 a paycheck, which would go to the local Democrat politicians by way of union bosses.
Now here's the kicker - when Dave compared his wages, vacation and sick leave accrual against the other employees who were part of the local SEIU, Dave had better wages, more vacation accrual, and more sick leave accrual. So the union was incapable of negotiating as well as Dave could with the Hospital administration, but wanted $300 a month for the pleasure of fucking Dave over at the bargaining table.
Everywhere I see a union, I see problems. The unions protect more negligent and lazy employees than I can shake a stick at, and it costs the businesses who employ them day after day after day. When a room-mate of mine waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in Kansas joined the local carpenter's union, he was amazed at how many union members showed up and smoked pot, then just hung out at the job site all day. "We can't fire them, Dave. They're union. But they're too stoned to work, so they just hang out all day because we can't trust them with a hammer and nail." Un-fucking-believeable. When I visit Boston, and I see two telephone poles planted right next to each other, each of them carrying half what it should because the UNIONS won't allow so-and-so to hang their lines without such-and-such hanging their lines first, and so it takes an entire fucking YEAR to replace one aging telephone pole....
We need to call unions what they are - corrupt organizations who's sole focus in this day and age is to funnel obscene amounts of money into theDemocrat American Communist Party's pockets. They may have had a purpose once. Hell, there may be a few out there who still DO have a purpose. But if the majority of unions ceased to exist by the end of today, we would simply have less money in politician's hands and a more competitive work environment. That's it.
You couldn't pay me to join a union.

Unafordable
So, if you haven't seen this yet, three chapters of the SEIU have recently received waivers from a "provision" of Obamacare. Seems as how these three chapters of SEIU can't afford Obamacare, and so they need their hall pass so they don't actually pay for it.
The irony - it burns. The group who gave millions to Obama and pushed hard for Obamacare can't afford Obamacare. Gosh, it's almost as if they were expecting someone else to pick up the bill! Now why would they think something like that, hmmmmmmmm?
In a just world there would be no waivers for any group who pushed to get Obamacare passed. Fuck the SEIU.

That's a feature, not a bug
Breda has up a map of the USA, with a note about what each state is "worst" at. Idaho is listed as having the least government influence.
Hell, that's why we LIVE there! And if Idaho has the least government influence.... then it REALLY sucks to be everybody else.

Francis Fox Piven wants America to crumble
She's one half of the Cloward-Piven strategy, which is a plan to systematically collapse the American government. And yet the New York Times doesn't see fit to publish that little tidbit. Or the fact that she calls for violent revolution against this country this year. No, the New York Times shows once again that it's nothing more than a propaganda mouthpiece for the Left by whitewashing Piven into a "liberal academic".
When I call the Left "Anti-American", it's people like Piven who prove that I'm correct.

And just because
Waaaaay back when Dave was just a wee sprout, he played the violin for a year before turning to the drums in Jr. High. Had someone showed little Dave this video, he may have ended up with a cello instead.
Nullification
I can haz it?
Now even the bill's sponsors admit that this might not work. But let's keep throwing roadblocks up before this country is well and truly fucked by Obamacare.
And I'm damn proud to be from Idaho, folks.
Idaho, the first state to sue the federal government over the health care overhaul, has announced plans to resort to an obscure 18th century legal remedy that recognizes a state’s right to nullify any federal law that the state has deemed unconstitutional.
The doctrine, known as nullification, has its roots in the brand of governance practiced by the nation’s founding fathers.
Now even the bill's sponsors admit that this might not work. But let's keep throwing roadblocks up before this country is well and truly fucked by Obamacare.

New Liberal Media Narrative
All the crimes of the PA Abortion doctor who murdered babies and killed women wasn't really about "abortion".
And as multiple people have pointed out, theDemocrat American Communist Party propaganda machine is doing it's best to cover this entire story up. Don't believe me? Google "Kermit Gosnell" and you get about 245,000 results. Google "Sarah Palin Shooting Arizona" and you get 18,100,000 hits. Gosh, who do you think the media wants to talk about? Who do you think the media wants to attack?
If I had my way, every newspaper in America would be shut down, every "journalist" fired, every editor sent packing. And then we would start over, and the only stipulation I would make is that anyone who ever worked for a "news" outlet would not be allowed back in. Maybe then we would have real reporting instead of propaganda and editorials disguised as news reports.

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day
From El Rushbo.
And that is why he gets paid like he does, folks.
Now, some of you may not know the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Winner hosted a state dinner last night for Hu Jintao of China. Hu Jintao is holding the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Winner in prison in China. Not making it up. The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Winner hosted a dinner for the guy holding the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Winner in prison, and the media does not get the irony of this at all. They're too busy running around chasing Sarah Palin and radio talk show hosts over "civility."

Weep for our country
There's a tombstone outside my church, right as you go in the side door, for all the victims of abortion in this country. Killing a baby just because it isn't born yet is still killing a baby, no matter what you try to convince yourself. Killing the most helpless among us because they're an inconvenience brought about by sex is just plain wrong.
So when I read this I wanted to throw up...... and if you read all of it, keep a vomit bucket handy. I normally do hyperbole rather well, but that's not hyperbole, that's a simple fact.
So when I read this I wanted to throw up...... and if you read all of it, keep a vomit bucket handy. I normally do hyperbole rather well, but that's not hyperbole, that's a simple fact.
Dr. Kermit Gosnell, 69, faces eight counts of murder in the deaths of a woman following a botched abortion at his office, along with the deaths of seven other babies who, prosecutors allege, were born alive following illegal late-term abortions and then were killed by severing their spinal cords with a pair of scissors. …This entire report shows just how far some people in this country have abandoned morals, integrity, ethics, and anything resembling humanity. The culture of death is alive and well in America.
Victory Part One!
House repeals Obamacare! And as Instapundit points out, the repeal passed with a larger margin of victory than the original Obamacare vote.
Part two is the Senate. We'll see what happens there. But I want any bastard who votes against repeal to be beaten like a baby harp seal with his vote come next election time.

Pipe bomb in Spokane?
The police got to it and defused it before anything happened, but still.... Adrienne's hubby had a too-close encounter with it.
Anyone from that area remember the pipe-bombing the Aryan Nations did in Coeur d'Alene in the mid-eighties? They were going after Fr. Bill Wassmuth, who was the priest at St. Pius X church in Coeur d'Alene. My family was going to that church at the time the attack happened.
I wonder if some of the Neo-Nazi holdovers were trying to relive old times?

Start the cutting!
Little article here about what programs can be cut from the Federal Gummint. I've had a discussion with people much like this, where I started describing what departments could be cut from the government. He objected, and said we would have riots in the streets.
I ain't certain that's a bad thing. I might be pilloried for that, but I really don't know if watching the parasitic class go into full melt-down mode is all that horrible.
Oh, and for the record, I want to cut the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Agriculture, Energy, the EPA, and various other independent programs, as well as most "foreign aid" that amounts to nothing more than handing money over to despots who hate us.

Conserving Energy
Dealing with certain people in my life has become...... challenging, shall we say. There's always someone who wants to piss on your Wheaties, just to enjoy your misery. I used to enjoy jumping right back in their face, but these days? I ain't got the energy for it.
I had one of those assholes try to provoke a reaction out of me tonight. I ended up just leaving. I don't have the energy to deal with assholes these days, due to the high number of assholes and pricks that I'm contractually obligated to deal with at work. I fight all day just to keep my sanity. I can't fight away from work the same day. Not if I want to remain human.
It doesn't quell the anger, it just pushes it off for another day.

Why Illinois is broke
Well, one part of the reason anyways.
Work for the State 5 Years, Pay in Zero, Get $130,000 Pension...
Work for Yourself 45 Years, Pay In $260,000 Get $28,000 Social Security
Anybody see a problem here?
This is what happens when you live in a state with no accountability, no transparency and massive political malfeasance. You and I are in effect tax slaves whose purpose in life is to work and pay exorbitant taxes so the elitist politically connected public employees can live in luxury when they retire - on our dime of course.
That last paragraph is how the Professional Left sees all taxpayers by the way.
Seen this yet?
Don Surber's response to the Left about their sudden cry for "civil discourse". I guess after calling us murder-inciting racists, and that after calling us unintelligent racists, and that after calling us baby-killing warmongers, and that after calling us... well, everything but a white boy, NOW they want to be civil.
My simple response to that is "fuck you", but Don Surber does it so much better.

Plows
After getting off a plane yesterday and shoveling snow off my sidewalk, I just saw the city plows drive by and dump it right back into my driveway and sidewalk entrances.
Thanks, assholes. Think ya could have plowed a bit yesterday? I was working, you should have been too!

Just how stupid is Bill Maher?
I'm pretty sure that anyone this dense has his own gravitational field. The sheer amount of stupidity and ignorance that this man exudes is enough to lower the collective IQ of everyone around him. And as he insults the Tea Party day after day after day, he exposes his complete and total lack of functioning brain cells with every show and every rant of his.
But not content with being a vacuous, moronic numbskull, Bill Maher tops it off with a foul attitude, gross demeanor, a nasty, vile personality, and a deep hatred of anything and anyone not like him.
But that's not enough to make me weep for America. No, what truly gives me dry-heaves of revulsion is the fact that a twisted, demented freak like Bill Maher has his own TV show with an audience that willingly swallows all the crap that he shits out. THAT is what should worry every American with a working brain.

While I still can't stand the city of Chicago, I'd like to thank the wonderful gentleman who not only found my notebook lying on the concourse ramp, but walked onto my plane to return it to me.
Every now and then, I'm reminded that there are good people out there. It's refreshing. Gives me some hope for humanity.

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day
Stolen from Keven Baker's quote of the day a couple days ago.
The rest is just as good. Go. Read.
Winston Churchill aptly described socialism as "a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue [being] the equal sharing of misery." As economist Thomas Sowell put it, "[s]ocialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it."
The rest is just as good. Go. Read.

I've started putting RSS feeds below the blogroll. I'll be adding more as the mood strikes me. Or when I have the time. Some combination of the two.
The Obama Tucson Tragedy Campaign
Pardon me while I vomit:
If you had any doubt at all of what a loathsome, disgusting, puerile, dishonest piece of worm shit Obama is, let this be your guide.
Yeah, because we dumb Americans aren't believing the line that theDemocrat American Communist Party keeps pushing. So the Communist in Chief is just going to push that line harder.
Why won't he just go away?
Step right up, ladies and gentleman, the tragedy campaign tour starts right here…indians, poetry readings, visual aid gimmick made out of public letters, he’s managed to turn a memorial service into a three-ring circus…a logo and slogan for a memorial service? Really? And “Together We Thrive”? Just another coded political slogan for his upcoming political “tragedy agenda”, having nothing to do with mourning or a tribute to the victims, and worse, clearly, he’s debuting his replacement slogan for “Yes We Can”. Jonathan Alter recently advised Obama to treat this shooting like any other crisis that can be capitalized on for political gain. “Never let a good crisis go to waste”, reminded Alter. Well, I guess Obama took his advice.
If you had any doubt at all of what a loathsome, disgusting, puerile, dishonest piece of worm shit Obama is, let this be your guide.
The challenge for a president is trying to make meaning out of something that’s not easy to understand – something that looks to be a hugely disrupting act,” Jamieson said. “A president is trying to provide a framework for how we are going to understand it.”

Feeder Pig
The Ragin' Mrs. has a tradition of cooking someone who's leaving our office a final lunch, kind of one last hurrah before they go on to where ever they're going. One co-worker made the off-hand comment that he wanted a roast suckling pig for his last lunch.
Don't ever, ever make an off-hand comment like that to a chef.
We spent last night killing, gutting, and cleaning the pig. It's currently packed with herbs and spices, doing a happy little marinade, and it'll get roasted in a week or two (yes, we're doing a spice marinade for weeks!) while packed with garlic and apples and getting spritzed with apple juice.
Yes, I'll take pictures.

Hammer 'em flat
Legal Insurrection talks about the two sicknesses on display in Arizona - the sickness of the shooter, and the sickness of the Left who want to use this tragedy as a political tool.
No Soviet Propaganda minister ever worked harder than the Left is working right now to discredit this country.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time we have seen this type of reaction. The meme that opponents of Obama are crazy and dangerous has been an explicit Democratic Party campaign strategy for over two years. Here is just a partial list of events in which the left-wing and Democratic Party media operation has immediately blamed right-wing rhetoric, only to be proven wrong when the facts finally came out: Bill Sparkman, Amy Bishop, The Fort Hood Shooter, The IRS Plane Crasher, The Cabbie Stabbing, and The Pentagon Shooter.
The facts will come out about the shooting and murder by Loughner. Until then, we'll be subjected to the sickness of people who seek to use the crime to their political advantage and who will worry about the facts later on, if ever.
No Soviet Propaganda minister ever worked harder than the Left is working right now to discredit this country.

The JournoList Narrative
Is alive.
And well.
My mind can't wrap itself around how sick, evil, and twisted you have to be in order to use a tragedy like this for political gain within minutes of it actually happening. The more I hear about the Daily Kos and other Leftoid political figures, the less I can regard them as human. As near as I can tell, they enjoy the suffering and misery of other people because they can use it for political hay. They have no compassion. They have no heart. They have no soul. All they have is a lust for power. Their complete and total lack of morals is frightening.
Let's hope that Congresswoman Giffords makes a full recovery. And pray for the people who were killed by this loon. Pray for their families.
