For Heroism

Since P2 asked if I would share a little bit of the father-in-law's history.  I've blocked out most of his personal information.

Hey. Feel like doing a good deed?

Go here.  Read about Mike Hendrix.  And then donate.  This dude has been an absolute balls-to-the-wall fighter for truth, justice and the American Way, and he needs some help.

Think of it as tithing.  It's a good, Godly thing to do.

This right here is just part of why America is the best country on earth

KelTec is 3D printing masks for health care workers.  That would be the firearms company, KelTec.  Printing masks for hospital workers.  That use HEPA filters so they will actually protect people.

If you follow the link, at the bottom of the page are links that go to the mask designs so that you can print out your own masks.  Instructions are included, as well as what filters will fit what masks.  For example, this design uses a HEPA filter from a Roomba

The government, being generally staffed and run by small-minded socialist assholes, has forgotten one of the key rules of leadership:  GET OUT OF PEOPLE'S WAY.  Let people work, and watch what they can do.  Like create masks to protect people out of things they have laying around the house.

The American St. Nicholas

The Victory Girls have a blog post up about the modern origin of St. Nick in Germany.

In 1944, the 28th Infantry Division, 112th Regiment of the Pennsylvania National Guard had taken casualties and were exhausted from the Battle of Huertgen Forest on the Western Front in Germany. The GIs were sent to Wiltz, Luxembourg for rest and recuperation. There the story of the American Saint Nicholas played out.

Go read it all.  What caught my eye is the unit.  My Great-Uncle, whom I just recently learned about this year, was assigned to the 28th Infantry Division, 112th Infantry Regiment.  He died a little less than two months prior to the unit being sent to Luxembourg.

They were suffering the privations of war, missing the comforts of home, and in foreign countries. Their loneliness and fear had to be overwhelming. Yet, the GI’s of the 112th Regiment, PNG gave what they had to let children have a Christmas for the first time in years.
The story of the GIs and the American Saint Nicholas is a story that every one of us should know and treasure.
This is what American troops do.  This is who we truly are.

Thanksgiving

To whom?  To God.

Never forget who this holiday is actually about.

By the President of the United States of America. a Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor—and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me “to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.”
Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be—That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks—for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation—for the signal and manifold mercies, and the favorable interpositions of his Providence which we experienced in the course and conclusion of the late war—for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty, which we have since enjoyed—for the peaceable and rational manner, in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted—for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed; and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and in general for all the great and various favors which he hath been pleased to confer upon us.
and also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech him to pardon our national and other transgressions—to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually—to render our national government a blessing to all the people, by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed—to protect and guide all Sovereigns and Nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us) and to bless them with good government, peace, and concord—To promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the encrease of science among them and us—and generally to grant unto all Mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand at the City of New-York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.

D-Day

Words cannot express what it means.  Hell, pictures barely do the job.

So I'm just going to be silent for a moment.

Memorial Day

Plenty of words written out there.  Doubt I can top what many have to say.  So I'll just leave this here.

For all those who never came home.

Send a card

Got some time today?  Send a card.

Jacob has been fighting Neuroblastoma, cancer that forms in nerve cells early on, since he was diagnosed at age 5. It has spread to his head and hip, and treatment was deemed unsuccessful.
Since Jacob is bed-ridden and has limited time left with his loved ones, they are bringing Christmas to himnext weekend.
On the big day, his room will transform into a winter wonderland — snow, sparkling tree and all (even Santa). But Jacob has one request: cards from anyone "inspired to reach out" to help bring the Christmas cheer.

The address is at the link.

Getting his life back together (bumped)

Kim du Toit is forced to move on without his wife, and he's asking for a tad bit of help.  There's a gofundme page to help him out.

If there ever was a guy who deserves good karma, Kim is it.

I can get behind this

Want to teach your kids responsibility?  Get them into 4-H.

I was in 4-H as a kid.  It eventually got me into raising my own pigs.  I started with two.  After the first year, I got four.  We got piglets in spring, I raised them, and they were slaughtered in the fall.  For years after I left home, I could not eat pork from the supermarkets, because it was absolutely foul compared to the pork I raised in high school.

Pork is not a white meat, folks.  Not if it's raised right.

But as the article points out, there's tons of other things 4-H does other than agricultural activities.  It's probably one of the best activities you can get your kids into these days.

Free Money

And all you have to do is learn a trade that will make you employable up to the day you die.  And someone else pays for that education.

Dear Lord, were I not already in the military for the long haul, I'd jump on this like a dog on a bone.

Seen all over the Conservative side of the web

Because it's that damn good.

A vet still serving his country by giving the barrycades back to the anti-American clown who ordered them put up around the WWII Memorial.

The pic is already going viral.  I'm just helping it along.

The Possible Future of Health Care in America

No insurance.  Cash on the barrel.  Cheaper, better health care.

Dr. Michael Ciampi took a step this spring that many of his fellow physicians would describe as radical.

The family physician stopped accepting all forms of health insurance. In early 2013, Ciampi sent a letter to his patients informing them that he would no longer accept any kind of health coverage, both private and government-sponsored. Given that he was now asking patients to pay for his services out of pocket, he posted his prices on the practice’s website.

The change took effect April 1.

(.....)

But the decision to do away with insurance allows Ciampi to practice medicine the way he sees fit, he said. Insurance companies no longer dictate how much he charges. He can offer discounts to patients struggling with their medical bills. He can make house calls.

“I’m freed up to do what I think is right for the patients,” Ciampi said. “If I’m providing them a service that they value, they can pay me, and we cut the insurance out as the middleman and cut out a lot of the expense.”
If people actually knew what their health care cost, and how much insurance pays the doctors, and how much of a financial burden insurance and government regulations are to the health care industry, they might just begin to understand what's wrong with the health care system in this country.  I expect a lot more doctors to go this route and Obamacare begins to destroy the current health care system.  As more doctors practice under the bootheel of the government, more and more of them are going to try to find a way out.

More power to 'em.

Photo Time!

So, I had some spare time on my hands, inbetween going to Mass, church picnic (the Ragin' Mrs. made her pulled pork), picking out the newest member of the Ragin' household and trying out a new cigar.  So, what to do, what to do.....

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Howzabout a political rally of Conservative thought?  In Los Angeles?  HELL YES!  The Ragin' Mrs. and I drove down, where we were greeted by a line of Gadsden Flags, Old Glory in all her various iterations, and plenty of patriots to go around.  I snapped a few shots of signs I liked.  Click on the photos to get the bigger versions, although I had to size them down for the blog:

When I drove by this lady I honked like mad, with my $5.00 per gallon expenditure.

There was a decent crowd on hand.  I don't guess numbers very well, but there were at least a thousand people either sitting, standing or walking around.

We got there a little late, and Alphonzo Rachel was already speaking:

He's just as inspiring live as he is recorded.  There were a quite a few local speakers, and then Ben Shapiro got on stage:

I loved this woman's shirt so much I had to ask to take a photo of it:

Finally, the man I had come to see speak:  BILL WHITTLE!

The last speaker of the afternoon was Dennis Prager:

Alphonzo Rachel waiting for Madison Rising:

The Mrs. and I had to retire home, in part because we had our new addition with us and he was getting a bit tuckered out from all the people.  But it was a good event.  I met a few folks who I will be contacting later, and it was nice to see that all of California ain't brain dead.  Hopefully I'll be able to go to a few more of events like this.

New Alternatives

In the local paper today, there was an article about a STEM academy being opened up in Northern Idaho.  STEM, for those who don't know, stands for Science, Technology, Electronics and Mathematics.  In short, it's a school designed to teach the hard sciences that aren't being taught in the Publik Skool Sistim.  And it's a charter school, so it doesn't fall under the school administration in this area.  Much to the STEM Academy's benefit.

I have to wonder; just what would my life have looked like if I had been given the chance to go to a STEM academy instead of being tortured with four years of hell courtesy of the government-run schools?

Veteran's Day

There's plenty of folks who have spoken words much finer than I can compose.  I'm simply one small, tiny part of a giant tapestry that goes back for hundreds of years, and when I shake the hands of men who have endured trials that any modern man would consider life-breaking, I can only offer humble thanks to the men who paved my road for me.

This year, instead of just thanking a vet, try volunteering with a local veterans organization.  Put action to your words.  Join the American Legion, or the Patriot Guard Riders.  If you're a vet, join the VFW.  I listened to a Lieutenant Colonel give a speech, and his dominant theme is that we still need to serve if we're committed to keeping America great.  He's right.  You can't just go home anymore and think that everything is going to be fine.  As we can see, it's not.

Being a veteran means that at some point and time, you have offered yourself to the service of your country.  It doesn't mean that your service is over, or that you can relax.

But it does mean that you have my thanks, and the thanks of millions of Americans who understand what you've given.
