KelTec is 3D printing masks for health care workers. That would be the firearms company, KelTec. Printing masks for hospital workers. That use HEPA filters so they will actually protect people.
If you follow the link, at the bottom of the page are links that go to the mask designs so that you can print out your own masks. Instructions are included, as well as what filters will fit what masks. For example, this design uses a HEPA filter from a Roomba.
The government, being generally staffed and run by small-minded socialist assholes, has forgotten one of the key rules of leadership: GET OUT OF PEOPLE'S WAY. Let people work, and watch what they can do. Like create masks to protect people out of things they have laying around the house.

Get outta the way: a sound leadership tenet. Tell 'em what you need done, how many and by when, give 'em clear guidelines, then sit back and let them amaze you. People, for the most part, are willing to bust their collective asses to do a good job. There are always exceptions...politicians, journalists, the Unbelievably Slow Postal Service (USPS) come to mind. Ever notice how your good leaders are usually prior NCO's or if they were officers, they had a damn good NCO right next to them sayin' things like "Whacha gonna do now, Lieutenant? How's about we try this...."?
I got lucky, and had NCO leadership who grabbed little SGT Dave and beat that fact into his head. Don't micromanage. Give the task, and get out of the way. If YOU have to do THEIR job, then that's YOUR failure as a leader.
I've beaten that into a few LT's heads along the way.
