OK, so....
Sheesh. There's no reason to believe that the Nobel selection committee are anything other than a group of idiots, morons and lickspittles who's only goal is to try to fling poo at America. Seriously. If you want to win a Nobel Peace Prize, it seems to have to suck up to tyrannical dictators and insult America as much as possible. Think I'm kidding?
2002 - Jimmah "the Peanut" Carter, who's accomplishments in life include running the USA into an economic hellhole, kissing the ass of any communist he comes across, and recently stating that there was no genocide going on in Darfur.
Uh huh. And the selection committee admitted when they gave him the award it was to poke America in the eye and insult President Bush.
1994 - Yassir Arafat. A lifelong terrorist who did more to commit terrorism and kill jews than almost anyone else on earth. Bravo, Peace Prize Winner!
2001 - Kofi Annan and the UN. A corrupt shithole of dictators, theocrats, thugs, murderers, a collection of the world's worst people, led by a greedy parasite who's only interest was filling his pockets with other people's money. The UN did nothing when genocide was occurring in Bosnia. The UN did nothing in Rwanda. The UN is doing nothing in Darfur. Anywhere UN troops that do not include NATO members go, drug running, weapons smuggling and child prostitution soon follow. Only in the UN can China, Sudan and Cuba sit on the Human Rights Council. Only in the UN could Saddam-controlled Iraq be next in line to head the Disarmament committee. The UN is the biggest impediment to world peace that exists today, and they got a PEACE PRIZE?
2005 - Mohammad ElBaradei. The man responsible for keeping nations from getting nuclear weapons did nothing while North Korea worked on a nuke. ElBaradei did nothing to prevent Saddam from working on getting weapons of mass destruction. He laughingly stated that Iran was not working on a nuclear weapon. When ElBaradei stated that "x" country did not have "y" weapons program, it was a safe bet that "x" country did indeed have "y" weapons program, and quite possibly was ready to use it! But he gets a peace prize.
So let me be clear - if someone comes up to me and says "I'm a Nobel Peace Prize winner!", they immediately identify themselves as someone who, by virtue of their selection and the company they keep, I want nothing to do with. In fact, by winning a Nobel Peace Prize, they've identified themselves as someone who is an anti-American, dictator coddling piece of filth.
Maybe one day the Nobel Peace Prize will be worth something again. But for that to happen, they have to first give it to people who have actually done something to promote peace in the world.
Oh dear......
Anyways, Coulter made the statement that she believes that Christians are "perfected Jews" and that she wants people to convert to Christianity.
OK. And? As Mr. Poretto states so eloquently:
It's in the nature of religious conviction that one believes one's selected faith to be preferable to all the alternatives. Of course Christians believe Christianity is superior to Judaism -- and therefore, by implication too obvious to require further development, that the world would be a better place if everyone were a sincerely believing Christian. A religious Jew would believe precisely the opposite. A Buddhist would say both of them had lost the Way, and a Muslim would be sharpening hisbox cutterscimitar. To take offense at the obvious is the mark of one who is either too clueless to cross the street unassisted or eager to find a pretext for slander.
What really astounds me is that Leftists who find Christianity so horrible have no problem shilling for Islam at every opportunity. I guess it's because a Christian tries to convert you with words. A Muslim will convert you at the end of a sword.

Yes, that's a pigeon on my head, and pigeons eating out of my hands. OK, so they're technically "Rock Doves", also known as "squab" for those culinary folks, but it was cool all the same.
I've got tons more pictures, but I'm not going to bore you right now. Plus, most of the pictures I've taken were on film and they're not developed yet. The Ragin' Mrs. snapped this shot.

Since Tim and TVE seem to be taking an extended break, and Tim was silly enough to give me admin privileges, is there any one of my readers who would like to blog part time? I know that I have a few commenters who don't have a blog listed on their comments. Here's your chance, risk free. Lemme know if there's anyone out there who would like the job.
As to why I've been so busy, well, it's a long damn story. Suffice to say that I've been doing about ten different jobs at once, and I don't see that slowing down one bit in the next year. So unless I win the lottery somehow, I'll be taking several extended breaks in the near future. Hey, I'm Army. We're kinda busy at the moment, ya know?

Sometimes it sucks to be right.
"YOU SICK BASTARDS! HOW CAN YOU ATTACK CHILDREN LIKE THAT?!"
To which I say to the idiots on the Left side of the political sphere, YOU SICK BASTARDS! HOW CAN YOU USE A CHILD TO HIDE BEHIND LIKE THAT?!
The bill that Bush vetoed needed to be vetoed, and it damn well better stay dead. This country doesn't need tax rates to go up, although that's exactly what the
Let's talk about how lawsuits are constantly driving up the cost of health care. Just who do you think ends up paying for the $150,000 a year malpractice insurance? The patient does. And when juries are paying out $50 million in "pain and suffering" judgements, you get every half-brained, greedy shitheel suing a doctor trying to get rich. The problem for the doctors is that even when they win a lawsuit against them, they still have to pay for the lawyers to defend them. If a doctor gets sued 100 times in a decade, and only loses one case, the insurance companies still have to pay for a law firm ONE HUNDRED TIMES. That gets damned expensive. Malpractice insurance goes up. And medical fees go up with them, because no person in his right mind is going to take a pay cut for doing his job.
But do you really think the politicians are going to do anything about insane malpractice lawsuits? Hmmmmmm? Especially when trial lawyers donate MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLIONS to the
Nope, I didn't think so either.
So the Left hides behind a child. A child who was given a speech written by the socialists and communists in Washington. A child who read that pre-written speech. So that when people pointed out just how absurd the whole issue is, the Left can then screech "YOU CHILD-ATTACKING BASTARD!"
Disgusting, revolting, slimy, parasitic pond scum, who want to force socialized medicine down our throats. It's about money, it's about power, and it's about control. It's about being held accountable for your own choices, something the
In the end, it's really not about health care. That's just a shield to hide behind, much like the child that the Left is hiding behind now.

The Shield of "Moral Authority"
I truly do believe that Cindy Sheehan grieved. And then she stopped grieving and used her dead son's body to claim her 15 minutes of fame, pushing an anti-war agenda hand-written by the
The
Case in point: Michelle Malkin is now being attacked for pointing out that the people who the
And yet he wants you and I to pay for his children's health care. I don't own a nice house. I don't own a personal business. I own ten acres of undeveloped land in Idaho, and that's it. Financially I have several thousands of dollars in investments for when I retire, but I certainly don't have anywhere near $100,000 in assets anywhere.
But the government wants to pull money out of my paycheck to pay for this family's healthcare? I don't think so.
However, point out that it's not the public's job to pay for other people's healthcare, and the response from the Left is "YOU JUST WANT KIDS TO DIE, YOU GREEDY BASTARD!" Pure emotionalism, no rationality. Perfect hallmarks of the political Left, period.
Point out that people making good money should pay for their own healthcare, or perhaps get insurance, and you have people putting up your home address and telephone number so that your enemies can find where to fire-bomb.
Her address has now been removed by that website, by the way. Not because they have any morals, but because someone else is getting ready to do a "hit piece" on Malkin, and they don't want Michelle to be able to play the "victim" card.
Yeah. Real ethical. What a schmuck. But that's the Left today - morally rotten to the core. Let's be clear: PUTTING YOUR SCRIPT INTO A CHILD'S HANDS IS THE SICKEST THING YOU CAN DO. HIDING BEHIND CHILDREN IS THE ACT OF A WEAK, COWARDLY, DESPICABLE, MENTALLY DEFICIENT GROUP. The arguments for government run health care, government mandated health insurance, or anything else that involves the words "government" and "health" are so weak that they simply cannot stand up to real scrutiny. Anyone with a computer and an internet connection can see just what happens once the government gets it's hands on health care. So rather than debate their intentions, they use children to hide behind, and then shriek like a scalded cat when it's pointed out that their arguments don't hold water. "HOW DARE YOU! HOW DARE YOU! HE'S A CHILD!" Yes, but he's a child that the
On the right, we have millions of people who have observed the failures of socialized medicine around the world, and have stated "We do not want that here." On the left, you have unhinged loons shrieking "YOU HATE THE CHILDREN! YOU HATE THE CHILDREN!"
I support lower taxes for families with children. I support lower taxes for small businesses. I support ending the death tax. I support allowing families to make their own decisions regarding their health care, their health insurance or the lack thereof. I cannot and will not support taking money from everyone to pay for health care for someone else. If you take money from me via threat of imprisonment, and then give it to someone else to pay for dental work, surgery, or any other medical procedure, IT IS STILL THEFT. And worse yet, we now have some government bean-counter deciding who gets what surgery! You think it can't happen? You haven't been paying attention. Scroll down to the fourth blurb. "Smokers denied NHS treatment" When the government pays for health care, the government gets to decide who gets treated.
No thank you. Not if I have anything to say about it.
But bring that up in response to the Left's attempt at "Moral Authority", and you get labeled as Satan, ready to eat babies alive.

Two Things
f you want to see the recap of what’s been going on with Syria this year, click here. That’s the last 30 or so posts including a Syria tag. All of the military analysis is predicated on the fact that the Syrians would use conventional weapons, as well as possibly chemical and biological agents. In the meantime, Syria is working with North Korea (doubtless funded by Iran) to hopscotch over the little details of developing scientific knowledge yourself—which takes decades—to simply buy instant Israeli destruction. Thanks so much, effing Pakistan, and France, for helping spread nuclear technology beyond the original five nations. Now Russia is working with Iran to do the same, and Iran is working on an ICBM that can reach the U.S. Europe is already within reach. And watch: From the left and from the Israel-haters, they will insist that Israel’s intelligence was cooked. This, in spite of North Korea’s reaction, and in spite of the fact that Syria has had nothing to say, and has not demanded a UN investigation, or a Security Council or General Assembly resolution condemning the raid.
That silence speaks volumes.
It was nukes.
Yep. Nukes. In a terrorist-sponsor nation, who itself is supported by THE number one state sponsor of terrorism, Iran.
The world should be worried. Hell, the world should be shitting it's pants right now. The fact that America was clueless about the whole deal should be scaring the ever-living daylights out of the country. We would have had no idea what was coming until the mushroom clouds rose.
And America told Israel to hold off on the attack? Ugh.
You know, when Israel is willing to do the job that America is now too gutless, weak and cowardly to do, perhaps we could at least get out of their way? Unless this current government WANTS to see a nuclear war in the Middle East?
And yes, I meant that last paragraph, sad as it is. Congress is unwilling to do anything other than blame other people for their mistakes, take partisan pot-shots, piss and moan, and wet themselves at the mere thought of another military action, even if the end result of their inaction is a irradiated Israel and a flattened Arabian Peninsula.

And by the way
Plop.
Plop as in the sound your face makes when you trip over your own feet and go nose-first into a concrete sidewalk. Plop as in the noise made by everyone's jaw hitting the ground at Philly's collapse. Plop as in the sound made by a ten-pound turd hitting the blue water in a Port-o-John.
Which, not coincidently, is the perfect analogy for the Phillies' playoff performance.
Any Philly fans want to answer me that? What the hell happened? Oh, and the Cubs? Yeah, you ain't got no Steve Bartman to blame for your completely inability to get to the big one. Boo-Hoo.
Why I consider Puerto Rico to be a shithole.
I swear to god, if I knew where the studio was I'd be going down there with a machete and a case of the screaming fits. As it is, I think I'll watch the race at Talladega and have a beer.
Seven months, and then I'm out of this shithole. DAMMIT, I WANT MY FOOTBALL! GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
UPDATE: The game blinked back on about two minutes before halftime. I then got to see my Seahawks get their asses wiped by the Steelers.
Yay.
Pay Rod
I remember when he left Seattle. "Oh, I love Seattle. I want to play in Seattle. I don't want to go anywhere else." And then the Texas Rangers said "We'll pay you flaming assloads of cash." And Rodriguez said "See ya later suckers, I'm going to Texas! YEEE HAW!" At least Ken Griffy Jr. had the balls to say "I want to go home. I'm leaving, and it don't care how much money you throw at me." And then he backed it up. If I recall correctly, Jr. took a pay cut to go play for the Reds.
The only thing Pay-Rod cares about is the cash. Which means he's not going to win a World Series, because he doesn't care about that. I remember watching the Mariners lose a playoff series back in Ninety-something, and when the last out was called, and the season was over, Joey Cora was crying. Jr. was down in the dumps. Pay-Rod? Meh. He had a look on his face like "Oh well, let's go home." He sure was smiling when he got all that cash in 2000, but he wasn't too broken up about losing a playoff series with the Mariners.
Ever notice how a team with Alex Rodriguez on it has never won the World Series? Yeah. The year after Pay-Rod left the Mariners, they won 116 games. Coincidence? I don't theenk so, Lucy. As far as I'm concerned, the Yankees can go ahead and keep Pay-Rod on their roster. It'll just guarantee that they won't win the big one until he's retired. Any post-season wins are despite the presence of Pay-Rod, not because of it.

Past Due
Well, maybe, if you're looking at the political remifications of it. But here's my take on the whole thing - it's well past due. This isn't a housing crash. It's a market correction. And there's a huge difference between those two definitions.
I've watched the housing market soar upwards for years now. I've seen some houses double their market price in a year. A house that went for $80k in Coeur d'Alene when I left is now selling for $250k. Or higher. The price tripled in a decade, in an area that could not support the cost. Sooner or later, the market rebounds and corrects itself, as it is doing now. I have to run, but I'll update this post later.

The Art of Not Expounding
I'm firmly convinced that 80% of the so-called experts don't know what the hell they're even talking about. They're just justifying their paycheck by expounding and waxing poetic on subjects they don't have a clue about. Remember, if "x" is an unknown quantity, and a "spurt" is a drip of water under pressure, then an "expert" is an unknown drip under pressure.
With politicians, it's about the same. They'll talk and talk, on any subject, as if by speaking they might give the impression that they know what the hell they're talking about. And if you give them a question, or even a simply statement, they'll launch into a half-hour long soliloquy that bores you to tears.
Enter Fred D. Thompson, who had to give one of the best quotes of the year during a speech in Iowa.
After a recent Thompson speech in Iowa a member of the audience called out: "Kill the terrorists, secure the border, and give me back my freedom." Thompson replied "you just summed up my whole speech."That's brilliant, folks. You have no idea how brilliant that was. No hour long discussion, no soliloquy, no expounding, no canned pre-written "Well let me tell you about how my government will do that", just a one-line reply.
Thompson has got the RINO's scared as hell.

RCOB
WASHINGTON — A top Democratic congressman, saying Democrats "have had it with being maneuvered and jerked around" on the war in Iraq, offered a new approach Tuesday to change the course of funding for the ongoing war: A war tax.
Rep. David Obey of Wisconsin, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, said he will not allow a bill to come for debate to provide emergency supplemental funds for the war and suggested Americans should be compelled to pay for it through a "surtax."
"The president isn't going to get a supplemental this year. I am not going to report a supplemental out" if it simply is a request for funds and not a change in direction for troops in Iraq," Obey said.
Obey suggested he is flexible as to what the change in policy proposes "so long as it represents real change and not camouflage."
The
Hey, I know how we can fund the war: STOP EARMARKING PORK BARREL PROJECTS, YOU SPINELESS FUCKING SHITHEAD!
Obey said the annual cost for the war — $145 billion — could be paid by a tax that would range from 2 percent for low and middle income folks to 12-15 percent for higher income households.
There's never been a tax that a
"This war is draining the treasury dry. ... There is a huge opportunity cost that is being paid by the same younger generation that is going to be asked to pay the bill because the president is paying for this war on the cuff," Obey said. "If you don't like the cost, then shut down the war."
I have no problem with paying for the war; it's all the government socialist boondoggles, ponzi schemes, corruption and fraud that I have a problem with.
Obey said he has no expectation that the majority leadership in the House would embrace a tax, but wants to try to force the president's hand for this "misbegotten" war. He said that the tax would address the cost of the Iraq war, which he described as "not an intelligent use of resources," and is not related to operations in Afghanistan.
Ah, the "misbegotten" war, the call of defeatocrats, surrender monkeys, cowards, and terrorist-enabling cockgoblins. Iraq is well on it's way to becoming a stable democracy, and the

Here's why I'm not a complete libertarian
A family court judge overstepped her authority by ordering a drug-addicted homeless couple to have no more children, a state appeals court ruled Friday in overturning the ban.
Judge Marilyn O’Connor banned Stephanie Pendleton and Rodney Evers in 2004 from having more children until they could get back the four children they lost to foster care, three of whom tested positive for cocaine at birth.
Pendleton, now 38, challenged the ruling.
“We conclude that the court had no authority to prohibit (Pendleton) from procreating,” a five-judge panel of the Appellate Division of state Supreme Court wrote.
Yes, a normal person has the right to procreate. But I do not agree that you have that right if it damages the children and causes the rest of the country to take up the burden of raising your kids.
I might get flamed for this, but I've seen too many drug addicts popping out kids as fast as they possibly can, all of whom become wards of the state and have some major health issues because of the drugs the "mothers" were using while they were pregnant.I mean, let's toss the fact that these drug-addicted shitheads are costing US taxpayers flaming assloads of money by forcing other people to raise their kids; let's look at the effect on the kids themselves. They were born ADDICTED TO CRACK! All the development that normally takes place in the womb either cannot or will not happen because the mother WAS USING CRACK WHEN SHE WAS PREGNANT! They are irreparably damaging these kids before the kids are even born!
Do any of us have the right to force someone to do crack? No? Then what gives the mother the right to do so? We're not talking about a glass of wine, we're talking about crack cocaine here, something that will damage this kid for the rest of his life. And since they're homeless crack addicts, the cost of taking care of those kids is born by society.
That's not right. And to be perfectly honest, I have no problem telling a couple of crack addicts that they can't have ANYMORE KIDS ADDICTED TO CRACK!
Yes, I know this could become a slippery slope. But there is a fine line between what's good for an individual and what's good for the country. We tread on that line every day. Speed limits? Who sets speed limits? Is that not the same thing in a different form? I can safely drive at high speeds, so why shouldn't I be able to do so? There's no adoption agency in the world that would let me adopt if I went in and said "Oh, by the way, I'm a crack addict and I plan on getting these kids hooked on crack as soon as possible." People understand that this is not a good thing. And yet we are just supposed to allow two homeless crack addicts, who have no intention of getting off crack, to have yet ANOTHER child who's addicted to crack?
Nope. Here is one situation where I have no problem with those two being forcibly sterilized.
Now let the flaming begin.
By the way: There's a commenter at Rachel's place who had this to say:
That being said:If we put the drug addicts who are breaking the law in PRISON for their CRIMES, then this whole problem goes away! Poof! Like magic or somethin’.
If we put them in prison it would certainly prevent them from having any more drug-addicted kids. But just how long would they stay in jail, hmmmmmm?
There are too many problems involved in this one case to solve with one solution. But until we as a country are ready and willing to deal with the harsh realities of drug addicts, the cultures that create them and the way we deal with them, preventing them from reproducing is the only thing we can do.

Theft
My neighbor across the way is having car troubles. My neighbor next door has three vehicles. If I take one car from my neighbor next door, and give it to my neighbor across the way, that is THEFT. I have no legal right to take one person's property and give it to another without their consent.
So what makes it legal when the government does it? The only rights the government has is the rights that we the people GIVE it. And if I don't have the right to take one person's property and give it away, then logically I certainly cannot give that right to the government either. The definition of theft doesn't change depending on who's doing it.
Now, extrapolate that out to the government taking my tax dollars and giving them to some welfare queen against my will. Theft is theft. It's still the same act, it's just being done by the government. All these social programs that the gummint is blowing money on is being done with my money and yours. And that money is taken from us by threats of punishment if we don't pony up.
It's still theft. It's just on a grand scale that your average neighborhood mugger could only dream of.
OhPleaseOhPleaseOhPlease
WASHINGTON - A federal judge refused Friday to dismiss a defamation case against Rep. John P. Murtha and ordered the Pennsylvania Democrat to give a sworn deposition about his comments alleging "cold-blooded murder and war crimes" by unnamed soldiers in connection with Iraqi civilian deaths.
A Marine Corps sergeant is suing the 18-term congressman for making the charge, which the soldier claims is false. Murtha, who opposes the Iraq war, made the comment during a May, 2006 Capitol Hill news conference in which he predicted that a Pentagon war crimes investigation will show Marines killed dozens of innocent Iraqi civilians in Haditha in 2005.
Murtha, and EX-Marine, used his position as a congressman to go on TV and lie, smear, and slander good Marines. Now that the Marines have been exonerated, Murtha needs to be head responsible for his statements.
With any luck, that senile old fool will be forced out of office.

Random Thoughts
I hate car commercials. Especially those that have the little subtitles "Professional Driver. Closed Course. Do Not Attempt." Well thank you Sherlock! You mean to tell me that the average driver can't do mondo jumps over a desert course? Gosh, I never would have thunk it!
I hate the fact that America has become so infested with moronic, greedy, dipshit idiot assholes that the disclaimers like the one I listed above have become necessary.
In fact, I think that we don't need to have labels on ELECTRIC HAIR DRYERS that say "Do not use in the bath or shower"! I mean, seriously! If someone is so fucking dumb that they take an ELECTRIC FUCKING HAIR DRYER into the shower with them, won't we be better off as a race if they die? Do we want those people to breed their stupidity into the gene pool?
For that matter, why don't we start hanging up signs that encourage the stupid among us to kill themselves? My old buddy Roy used to say that we need to take down all the warning signs at gas stations. You know, the ones that warn you to put any gas cans on the ground, don't use your cell phone, don't drink the gasoline, yada yada yada. Roy said screw all that. Put up a sign that states "GASOLINE TASTES GREAT ON CORNFLAKES" And once all those stupid people put gasoline on their cornflakes and DIE AS EVOLUTION SAYS THEY SHOULD, we could figure out a new sign, until the only people left are the ones smart enough to NOT DRINK GASOLINE. Or take electric hair dryers into the shower.
I'm willing to bet my entire paycheck that if we killed off all those stupid people, the number of

Anyways, I'm back. But not only do I have fond memories of vacation, I also have pictures!
Heh. Oh, you just knew they were going to come out eventually, didn't you? Everybody, meet Bo.
Bo is an old mutt, kinda creaky in the joints, but a good old dog none the less. He's a pitt bull mix who loves attention. I couldn't sit down at the in-law's house without Bo coming up to get scratched behind the ears. He's my kinda dog. Big, happy, and lovable. Probably about sixty to seventy pounds of big lovable hound.
Not only does Bo love to be scratched behind the ears, he loves to play. Although he can't run very well these days, he still loves to chase things down. He loves to rough house, and he'll flop down on your lap if you give him the chance. But the game he loves the most is what my brother-in-law likes to call "Let's swing Bo around the kitchen by his teeth".
It's played like this. You get Bo as excited as you can. You can tell when that point is reached because Bo will tell you. Literally. He'll vocalize this "Haaaa! Haaaaa! Haaaa!" sound. At that point, you reach down and grab his canine teeth with your fingers. With your hands in his mouth and your fingers securely wrapped around his teeth, you then begin to shake his head up, down, side to side, and once you're sure you have a good grip you start swinging him around on the tile floor.
It looks like this:
Of course, the smaller yappy things all want to get into the action, but any real man will ignore them and continue to play with the real dog.
Can you tell that I like big dogs? Yeah.
Energy Debates Lack Focus on Practical Energy Concerns of Average Citizen
Ron Paul's Asshole Leftist Supporters
I went to the Iowa Straw Poll last month on behalf of former Massachusettes Governor Mitt Romney (I'd be glad to discuss that decision in the comments to this post) and experienced Paul's asshole leftist supporters first hand. First encounter seemd benign enough. A young man (looking fairly out of place among the Straw Poll attendees) offered me a Ron Paul brochure which I politely declined. He was the first, and the most civil, of the Ron Paul pushers I witnessed doing this. There is really nothing wrong with someone at a political function offering information about a politician they support, but for those who have not attended an event like the Iowa Straw Poll a litte context might be necessary. This is an event that candidates scout out their faithful supporters in advance of. They pay for their travel, entertainment, and their food in exchange for their promise to support them by voting for them in the poll. Although this was a Republican event, it was not required that you had to be a Republican to attend, you just had to pledge support for a candidate or pay your own way in. I've followed all of the high profile 2008 presidential candidates (Republican and Democrat) closely, so the nature of Paul's supporters was hardly suprising. He is essentially the Republican that Democrats support. They hope he'll run third party to suck votes from the popular Republican candidate to ensure a Democrat win. He talks conservative on some issues, but he's a full blown defeatist dipshit when it comes to the war on terror and the war in Iraq in particular. His supporters carried signs and the vast majority of them either said "Ron Paul" or statements about ending the Iraq war. So we know which policy position is most popular among his supporters. Indeed, if his words are to be believed, it is the only position that starkly sets him apart from the other 2008 Republican presidential candidates. His supporters at the Iowa Straw Poll last month were rude. They were pushy. They were constantly getting in someone's face. They stood near the stage while Romney spoke waving their Ron Paul signs around. They marched around in packs chanting. To be fair, a few other camps including Romney's participated in similar marches, but Paul's supporters took this activity, like others, to the extreme. I read a report on NRO of a Ron Paul supporter at the event yelling at a Mitt Romney supporter (initiating an exchange - being an agressor) something to the extent of "Ron Paul has always been pro-life." To which the Romney supporter responded, "God Bless him." Not satisfied with the disarming retort, the Paul supporter fires back again, "Romney hasn't been." To which the Romney supporter responded, "Yeah, but Romney has a better shot at beating Hillary." The account of this exchange struck me for a couple of reasons. First, as I see it, it's a defining example of Paul supporter behavior. Second because it highlights a theme I have pushed here and elsewhere over and over again. Primaries count. This is where pragmatic cynics choose their lesser of two evils. I hear a lot of sniping about this or that Republican candidate, but with the exception of Ron Paul, I'd GLADLY support any of the current set of 2008 Republican presidential candidates (including, to my own astonishment, John McCain) against ANY of the 2008 Democrat candidates. And even then I'd probably hold my nose and vote for the defeatist idiot, Paul, over a Democrat. I'm glad I don't have to worry about having to make that decision. And I hope the fool actually runs as a third party candidate because he'd take more conservative leaning Democrat voters from the Donkey candidate than he would anti-war idiot Republicans from the Republican candidate.

Quote of the Day
Monkey See, Monkey Do, Monkey get in trouble too!
Meheh. I wonder if the mom has disciplinary issues? The Ragin' Mrs. thinks it's a teaching tool, because there's two little girls, and other than the usual loud speech that is a part of kids growing up, they seem to be well behaved.
Phoenix Airport
By the way, if you've always wanted to do something for the troops, but don't quite know what or how, or you weren't sure your donations were going to get to the people who needed it, may I make a suggestion? Donate to your local USO. Most major airports have a USO, a place for military personnel to kick back, take a break, check email, get a bite to eat, let their families get some rest, and that's just in the airports. That doesn't count all the things that the USO does for troops everywhere around the world. Most of the USOs in airports are run by volunteers. It's a truly non-profit organization who's sole focus is the moral and welfare of American service members. The whole reason this came to mind is because the Dallas/Ft. Worth USO is one of the best I've been in.
Anyways, the vacation was nice. I can't say that I'm looking forward to returning to Puerto Rico, after being back in civilization for a couple of weeks. But it's only seven more months, and then we're back in the real world.
It's gonna be a hellish seven months.

There's nowhere else to go
Short of winning the lottery and buying a small country somewhere, there's nowhere else for conservatives to go in the world. Period. Can you name one other country that has the freedoms that the
The right to defend yourself with firearms? Check.
The right to say that all current congresscritters should be tarred and feathered, then either run out of the country or hung by the neck until dead? Check.
The right to call the Speaker of the House a traitorous communist wench who should have her citizenship revoked immediately? Check.
I think that a lot of the rights formerly held in this country have either fallen by the wayside, or been removed by the damn gummint at one point or another. Which is a problem that needs to be rectified. But even if I wanted to get the hell out of the country, where could I go? I've been around the world a time or two. I've been to other countries, and I can't think of a single other country that has the freedoms that we still have. As Kim says it, and I agree:
This is it. This United States, this noble experiment, this bastion of freedom, this light which shines on the world and gives hope to billions of people elsewhere—this is the last hope of humanity.
We have nowhere else to go.
And that's the truth. I honestly think that this country will have another civil war in my lifetime, because the communist ideals of the Left and the freedom-loving ideals of the Right cannot be reconciled in any kind of meaningful way. Government power and control cannot be reconciled with individualism. Capitalism and Communism don't mix. So one of two things will happen. Either we will win, and thus be able to stave off collapse for a few more years, or the Left will cheat their way into power yet again, and freedom loving people will have to secede from the USA. Granted that's a rather simplified version of what I think will happen, but I can go into details later.
Once I get back to civilization, I'm stockpiling ammo.Sunday, September 23, 2007
Still trying to avoid politics for a bit.
Although I heard on the news that Iranian
Wha? Are you shitting me?
Weapons from Iran are killing US Troops in Iraq. Iranian agents are killing troops and civilians all over the Middle East. Iranian funds are supporting terrorist organizations all over the world. And yet Columbia University invites him to speak?
What. The. FUCK?!?!?!?!
I'm certain that Columbia University would have not only invited Adolph Hitler to give a speech, but would have congratulated him on finding that "final solution". But I guess or fthe university where a professor once hoped for a "million Mogadishu's" there's no levels they won't sink to. And Columbia is the university where the students shut down a speech by a founder of the Minuteman Project.
They're all for diversity, so long as you don't disagree with them on anything.
Gah. I'm having some dinner.
Oh, and my Seahawks won today. Let's see them win one on the road before I start celebrating too much.

The Terrorist Leftist Nexus - Imbicile Edition - UPDATE
They were married in Islamic ceremonies in Egypt and Saudi Arabia and are awaiting permission from the authorities in Riyadh to make their marriage official.
By saying (with much sarcasm):
What's the hold up? Muslim theocratic intolerance? Nah.
Now let's get up to speed on this steamy internet romance:
LONDON — A British woman who married a son of Usama bin Laden says the couple is divorcing because of opposition from his family, The Sun newspaper reported Wednesday.
Oh, no fucking way! Who could have ever predicted this?!
Jane Felix-Browne, a 51-year-old grandmother from Moulton, a village in northwestern England, married Omar Bin Laden, 27, in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia in April. But Felix-Browne said, according to The Sun, that bin Laden's family members feel they have been humiliated. The newspaper quoted her as saying her husband had been threatened in a telephone call, but she did not identify the caller or give details about the threat. Omar was told he shouldn't be married to me, and there was a very good chance he would be taken to prison," The Sun quoted her as saying. "Omar knew who it was on the phone, but he wouldn't tell me. After the call he said he felt both our lives were in jeopardy. She could not be reached for comment Wednesday morning.
Time out. Let's help Nanna Jane out. IF there was a phone call, it went something like this:
Omar - "Death to infidels, this is Omar."
Ayman - "Omar! It's Ayman! Did you get the bomb vests I sent your kids?"
Omar - "Ayman! Yeah, we got them. Praise Allah!"
Ayman - "How's the plan to gain British citizenship?"
Omar - "Don't get me started! If I have to send that old imbicile one more text message, I'M going to use the bomb vest!"
Ayman - "Well then today is your lucky day! We figure, fuck it. It was worth a shot. You're off the hook."
Omar - "Merciful Allah! I owe you big time!"
Ayman - "Just tell her you got a death threat. Act really sad!"
Omar - "Thanks Ayman. Hey, how's Waziristan?"
Ayman - "We'll talk later."
Back to the proclamations of an imibicile:
"People are opposed to my marriage because I am British. I wasn't prepared to see the man I love die," she was quoted as saying.
And this woman has been muslim pickle-chugging since age 16? You're a convert, nanna! Tainted! It doesn't matter where you were hatched.
"It was a really, really good marriage, a strong marriage.
Was it strongest when you were instant-messaging, or when he was banging the mother of his children back in the desert?
But I cannot stand by and watch my beloved husband die before my very eyes.
Unless she has high-speed internet the web cam footage would have been all choppy, so it wouldn't have been all that traumtic to watch.
"The bin Laden family are afraid of the political implications of a British woman being married to the son of Usama bin Laden. They fear embarrassment and complications, not just in their own country but also in Britain and America," Felix-Browne was quoted as saying.
Marrying an imbicile - embarassing. Spawning THE global arch-terrorist - in all the scrapbooks! What could they possibly have to fear over their relationship in the US and UK? Smell the camel crap?
The Sun quoted Omar bin Laden also as saying "this marriage is now over. I don't want a divorce, but there are serious reasons for this breakup that I can't talk about. I adore being with this woman. But we can't stand up when the waves from the sea are coming to wipe us out."
That, and his other wife just wouldn't stop bitching about all the time he spent online.

Enjoying the weather
Haven't been listening or watching any politics. Sorry, you'll have to go somewhere else for your daily dose. I'll be somewhat back to normal in a week. Until then, just keep dealing with light posting.
But since I'm in a picture posting mood, enjoy today's selection. As with the other pictures, if you want to use them as a desktop or whatever, go ahead. If you want to publish them, please do so under this blog's web address. Click on the picture for the full size.

Road Trip
Couple of things caught my ear lately. One - everything that's going on in the world, and all I hear about from the MSM is how Sally Frickin' Field was "censored" by Fox?
What? Ummmmm.... I've heard the full audio. She let the word "god-damn" slip out of her lily-white lips, and the last time I checked A TELEVISION COMPANY WILL GET FINED FOR THAT. So they bleeped it. This is news? This is what the MSM wants people to think of as news? We've got France, FRANCE FOR GOD'S SAKE, saying that we should prepare for the bombing of Iran, a war still ongoing in Iraq, a war still ongoing in Afghanistan, Iran stirring up shit, and the only thing that CBS/NBC/ABC/PBS/Nutroots can howl about is that they think Sally Field got censored?
What a steaming load of bovine manure. What more proof do you need that the Left in this country is a vapid group of empty-headed twatwaffles who are unable to deal with modern day life?
Anyways, I don't know what the internet is going to be like at the place we're going. I'm taking the computer, so I could always find a coffee shop and do a post, but I've been enjoying being active and not in front of a computer. We'll see.
Oh, by the way, if anyone wants to use those pictures below for wallpaper or whatever, go right ahead. Click on the pick for the full sized version, and save away.

Don't ever let me catch them
Don't ever let me catch whoever did this, because if I manage to get my hands on them, nobody will ever see or hear from them again. And that's a promise. No screaming, no big scene, they will just..... disappear. Forever.
I'm back
Yeah. I enjoyed it.
Big pictures to follow. Sorry if you're on dial-up.
A view from the Rim. The Rim is a plateau that pretty much goes straight down, and it provides one hell of a view of northern Arizona. Fresh air, cool breeze, and cool weather. It was perfect for hiking.
And just to prove that I can do a close-up.....
I've always had a small fondness for thistles, for some reason. Perhaps it's because my horses used to like munching on them as I rode past a bunch. Perhaps it was the thistle honey. Or perhaps it's because they're prickly and hard to eradicate, much like many of my family.
Meh. Who knows. Maybe I'm just weird.

The obligitory post for today
Which, considering that it was around 108 yesterday, is rather odd for me. Ah well. I'll be going up into the mountains tomorrow morning, and I won't be around the internet or phone service for three days.
Which means that unless Tim or TVE manage to come out of hiding, there ain't gonna be any posts for this weekend. That's life, folks. No internet, no phones, no nothing except for wind in the trees and the crackle of a fireplace. And I'm going to love it.
In the meantime, may I suggest a few of my favorites? If you've been reading me for a while, you know who they are.
Random Nuclear Strikes, who's been posting some damn good music for you to download lately.
DANEgerus, who manages to keep track of all the dirt on the Lefties . Seriously, he's a resource on just how corrupt and evil the Left is.
And of course, Kim du Toit and the GunThing.com Forum.
You folks have a good weekend, because I sure will be doing the same.

Snicker. Snort. Guffaw.
I've liked "Get Fuzzy" for a while, but this one had my busting a gut.
Memorials
Since I was in civilians, I sat there and clapped with the rest of them. It was nice to see them get recognized.
The irritating part of the trip was on the way to the in-law's house, there were several people on a couple of interstate overpasses with "9-11 Truth Now!" signs. The brother in law gave them the proper one-fingered salute as we drove past. Just how delusional do you have to be to think that September 11th was a government hit job?
Don't answer that. I don't want to be reminded that I live in a country were a big slice of the population is certifiably insane.
Made it safe
Unfortunately, since I'm three hours ahead of my normal time, I woke up at 0500 local time. Still it was nice to go for a run before the sun came up. Agenda for today: Whatever the hell I feel like.
Yeah, that's nice. I could get used to this. Unfortunately, it's only two weeks. And thirteen more years until retirement. Heh.
I will be incommunicado for several days at various points, as I head up to the mountains where there's no internet, no phone service, and nothing to bother me. Until then, I might post, I might not. But since the purpose of this vacation is to lower my blood pressure down to somewhat normal levels, I doubt I'll be doing much political stuff.
See ya when I see ya.

In Memorium
For every policeman, fireman, and rescuer who died while running into Hell to save the people trapped there.
For everyone who's lives have been touched by the evil of fanatical maniacs.
I salute you. I honor you. And I'm doing me best to make sure that there will never be another September 11th while I can do anything about it.

Asshole and Elbows
And I'm taking one, starting tomorrow.
I'm taking two weeks of leave, going up to meet my wife in Phoenix, and spending two weeks doing as little as possible. Now in all honesty, I'm probably still going to be working my ass off, since I know that people will be calling me, emailing me, yada yada yada. "Dave, where's this paperwork? Dave, what about this? Dave, So-and-so called, and you need to call him back." Whatever. At least I won't be here, in the office, dealing with them on a daily basis.
So I guess you could call that a vacation. But "leave" is the more appropriate term. I'm leaving. For two weeks. I expect to be contacted, emailed paperwork, and otherwise still engaged with my job.
I may or may not post much. It all depends on how I feel. And that's what it's going to come down to. "Do I want beer, or whisky? Do I want eggs or pancakes? Do I want to post, or do I want to continue laying in bed?" You know the drill.
So you've been warned.

The sweeter side of Mexico
It was a small hole-in-the-wall bakery with maybe 20 feet of counter space. We went in the afternoon and they were still bringing out new sweetbreads. The American pastries have nothing on these. They are not too sweet, very tasty and despite everyones insistence otherwise I am sure quite laden with fat. I have no way of knowing for sure since I was told they do not share the recipes with *any one*. This is a long time established business with original recipes from Mexico.
But, I digress, these are AWESOME. The Raging_Dave will get his treat soon enough. If you are in the Phoenix area, I *highly* encourage you to stop in. Ordering by pointing is acceptable. I don't know how much English they speak as my BiL did the ordering. But, he says they are better than *any* of the shops in LA!
So, here is the 411 on this bakery:

Anybody got a Mack Strong jersey?
Are you still fans of Matt Hasselbeck and Mack Strong after they visited President Bush last week in Bellevue? Or have their political leanings turned you against them?
The Seahawks quarterback and fullback gave the 43rd president a No. 43 jersey with his name on it at a $1,000-a-plate fundraiser for Rep. Dave Reichert at the Hyatt.
Reichert is a stand-up guy. And Mack Strong is one of the best players you'll never hear about.
Maybe in really red Republican states, it would not have been a big deal. But Washington is a blue state, and deep, deep Democratic blue in King County. So objections were raised, and Hasselbeck heard them and read them. He got nasty voice mails, e-mails and text messages.
“I had no idea,” Hasselbeck said.
One guy told him: “I hate you, I’ll never wear your jersey, I’ll never like the Seahawks again.”
“Huh?” Hasselbeck thought. “Seriously?”
Welcome to the real Seattle, Matt. Filled with nutcases, seething hatred of anyone to the Right of Joseph Stalin, and more vitriol than you can shake a stick at.
I like Matt Hasselbeck, think he's a good guy, but Mack Strong should be one of the faces of the Seahawks. He's played for the Seahawks for his entire NFL career. He should retire as a Seahawk. He's been the starter for most of his career. He's the consumate team player, who cares more about winning games than personal records. And he's built like a brick shithouse. Shaun Alexander should be kissing Mack Strong's ass every damn Sunday, because it's Strong who opens up huge gaping holes for Alexander to dance through.
I need to buy a jersey of his. Show some love for an outstanding fullback and a genuinely good person.

Sorry bout the lack of posting
Uh uh. We had thirty. And no arrangements had been made to feed them, house them, or train them. MUCH BAD JUJU!
So that's what I'm doing all weekend. Trying to ensure that the troops are taken care of, and dealing with all the paperwork snafus that happened. Of course, all the problems happened way above my pay grade, but I'm the one who gets to deal with the repercussions. Yay.
So I might post again this weekend, but if I don't, well, I'll see you all on Monday.

Slimeballs
Who? The
I'm not even going to quote from the article. I'm too disgusted and I don't want to see any more words out of a communist's mouth on this blog today. THIS is why I will never vote for a single
I wouldn't piss on any of them if they were on fire.
Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ’liberalism,’ they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”
Norman Thomas, former U.S. Socialist Presidential Candidate
Yep. Only now, having sucessfully implemented the evil cancer of socialism into the American way of life, the "liberals" of today are now pushing for communist ideals. Remember folks, socialism is nothing more than communism lite. The two may quibble about how much control the state will have, but their goals are exactly the same. Control over the Individual by the State. 1984 wasn't just a pipe-dream, it was a warning from someone who had experienced and at one point advocated for communism, until he saw the horrible results.

Mrs. Smiley makes some poignant observations about military nuptials that are near and dear to my heart!
The military reality, that is.
Uncle Sam is famous for causing fast nuptials when duty calls.
My point: Break-ups that seemingly occur "because of the military" have less to do with the rigors of military life than they do with the couple themselves. For all the stories of long, successful marriages that came out of WWII, there are surely just as many stories about ones that failed. All of which is on par with reality. Some people are meant to be, and some are not. Uncle Sam doesn't change that; he just tests it faster. There's nothing like the military to give "for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, till death do us part" a run for its money before the bride's bouquet has dried out and lost its leaves. In fact, the whole idea of a "honeymoon" period is a joke for most military couples. But that's life.
Sure it's sad that a couple has parted ways, but if you're tempted to blame the military for the would-be Mr. and Mrs. Andy Baldwin's demise, there is no need for sympathy. Already, bloggers, some with an obsessive attraction to Andy and Tessa (named "Andessa" by cultish followers), have begun claiming that if it weren't for the mean, oppressive military, Andessa would "live forever!"
Really?
If you believe that, consider this: When a couple gets married and immediately uproots to a new location (compliments of Uncle Sam), all they have is each other. Literally. Then, if the servicemember is deployed, all they have is faith, love, and, hopefully, e-mail. It's been my experience that these conditions make relationships that are "meant to be" stronger, not weaker.
It is a fallacy, really, that the military lifestyle makes or breaks a marriage. The lifestyle simply separates the strong from the weak quicker than most. And for Andessa, that separation came quicker than — well, quicker than a deployment to Iraq.
