My home state of Idaho has had it's share of mentally diseased, smug, short-bus-riding, know-nothing, blathering, idiotic fuckwits move to it.  We call them Californians.  Now, some Californians who move to Idaho recognize that the reason they moved to Idaho was because it wasn't California, and they appreciate that.  They normally come from the Central Valley, or out in the high desert, and they're aware of who, what, and why they moved.  But the vast majority of the clueless, fuck-witted, asshatted sheeple, like the folks who infest Los Angeles and San Francisco, move up to Idaho and try to turn it into California, because they like, totally understand what us poor rubes need!  We should totally do things the way they were done in the place I like, totally had to leave because of the crime rate and cost of living, dude!  And so they Californicate the state, ruining it for future generations.  These Californians are like cancer; they grow around you un-noticed, until it's too late, and you die.

I'm willing to bet that Sally Boynton Brown is a Californicator, trying to destroy Idaho from the inside out.

Environmental Protection Agency employees have not accepted Donald Trump’s victory and are still “coming to work in tears” more than two months after the election. 

“At EPA headquarters, the mood remains dark,” ProPublica reported Wednesday. “A longtime career communications employee said in a phone interview Tuesday that more than a few friends were ‘coming to work in tears’ each morning as they grappled with balancing the practical need to keep their jobs with their concerns for the issues they work on.”

The EPA is a political group masquerading as an actual department with an actual job.  They hurt businesses, they hassle private landowners for the horrible crime of fixing a drainage issue that was caused by the government, they threaten farmers, they release millions of toxic waste into a river that's used for drinking water by hundreds of thousands of people, they hide and obfuscate their actions to avoid being held responsible, they shut down entire industries under the flimsiest of excuses....

I think that's just about the perfect metaphor for Obama and his administration.  Screw up everything, refuse to take responsibility, shit all over the citizens and then walk away.

But inside the poll is another story: only Queen Elizabeth and Pope Francis have a higher approval rating than President-elect Trump according to Americans asked to consider 11 world leaders.

The main story doesn't mention the comparable numbers, and even undercuts Trump's approval ratings. 

And this is why nobody trusts CNN.

I say this as a dad who has to explain to my son why the President-elect is calling people rude names, when I teach him that is wrong. 

A big part of what conservatives are meant to conserve is decency, decorum, and respect. We should oppose shouting expletives at those we disagree with. We should oppose public shaming and boycotts. We should oppose cruel mockery as a legitimate means to achieve our ends.

It is telling that the National Socialists use Orwellian double-speak by holding signs saying "NO FASCISM" while at the same time engaging in fascist acts.  The National Socialists have always done so, and they see no need to change their tactics.  Until large groups of National Socialists like those at UC Davis are dealt with effectively, and in this case large amounts of pepper-spray directly to the face would be rather effective, then the National Socialists will continue to rampage through civilization unchecked.

Record cold and snow have descended upon the planet this Winter and even in the summer in some places. The cold is spreading as the latest satellite data reveals that despite a huge El Nino, global temperatures are not statistically warmer than 1998.

My parents have been in the single digits up in Idaho, where it normally doesn't get truly cold until February.  On the southern end of the state, Boise is setting snowfall records.  And seven degrees in Virginia?  As I saw someone else say, "I'm burning your warnings about Global Warming in order to stay alive."  Yes, I know Alaska gets cold.  I know Montana gets cold.  I've been in Wisconsin in winter, I know it gets cold.

But this is Virginia.  Seven degrees.

If I can, I'm going to punch the next fuckwit to blathers to be about Global Warming.

Yep, Central VA got snowed on.  About six inches outside the house right now, which makes both the Mrs. and I giddy.  What's even better is the unit finally looked at the weather report and said "Yeah, nobody bother coming in this weekend, m'kay?"  So I get to stay home and drink coffee with the Mrs. instead of try to avoid other drivers who can't figure out that you slow the fuck down on snowy roads.

Going for a walk with the dogs soon.  They love the snow more than we do.

We have a government who acknowledges that Hillary Clinton violated multiple laws with her home-brew server, but won't prosecute her.  We have a government who refuses to say the words "Islamic Terrorism".  We have a government who had to be forced to admit that Benghazi was a terrorist attack and not a response to a video.  We have a government who did NOTHING while China hacked the OPM servers and stole the personal information of over 20 million people.

So pardon me whilst I ignore their weeping and wailing about how Putin personally walked in and hacked the election.  A)  That's bullshit.  B)  the actions of the people now wailing about Putin have to be suspect, just based on their previous actions or lack thereof.  There is no reason what so ever to trust the US Government right now, or to accept what they say at face value.  If the CIA came out and issued a statement that the sky was blue, I would personally go outside to check before I accepted what they said as the truth.

In the video, several people look on, laughing and eating, at an apartment during the Tuesday attack. The victim, who was viciously beaten, had been kidnapped, news station WBBM reported. 

At least four of the victim’s alleged captors were taken into custody on Wednesday after the footage began making the rounds on social media, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Jerry’s body lay unclaimed for several weeks at Riemann Family Funeral Homes.

The University of Wisconsin is putting on a...  get this....  "Men's Project".

It’s open only to “men-identified students” at the public university and “operates on a transformative model of social justice allyship,” according to a news release on the university’s website, which adds “by encouraging that kind of dialogue among a men-identified cohort, the goal is to create a sense of security in vulnerability throughout the six-week program.”

First absolute made-up bullshit:  "men-identified students".  Some mentally ill bull-dyke stomping around and bellowing that she's a man does not make her a man.  It makes her a mentally ill woman with massive personality flaws.

Second absolute made-up bullshit:  "transformative model of social justice allyship"  I'll take "How many buzzwords can I stuff into a short sentence for $200, Alex!"  That sentence means nothing to anyone with a real job or a real skill other than convincing 20-somethings to go six figures into debt for a fancy sheepskin that qualifies you to make coffee.

Third absolute made-up bullshit:  "sense of security in vulnerability"  This is quite possibly the most Orwellian double-speak of the entire year.  Security in Vulnerability!  Strength in Weakness!  Black is White!  Good is Bad!  Up is Down!

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is not the only university offering such a program. Many other campuses, both public and private across the nation, now offer programs, trainings, guest lectures and other educational techniques that seek to purge male students of their so-called toxic masculinity.

The more I look back, the happier I am that I didn't waste my time or money going to college.  I can't imagine the kind of twisted, stunted, mentally-ill orc I would have been after four years getting a degree in music and English and stewing in the toxic swamp of Marxist indoctrination for four years.

New Year's Nope

Once again, I'm not willing to go out and be surrounded by drunk morons, yahoos, idiots, and various other sundry detritus that tends to collect in bars and clubs and behind the wheel of vehicles on New Year's Eve.

Hell, I doubt I'll even stay up to ring in the New Year.  No point in it.  Not for me, anyways.  It's just another year.

Maybe that makes me old and grumpy, I don't know.  But to be honest with you, I never really enjoyed New Year's parties even when I was in my twenties.  Why spend that much money on crappy alcohol surrounded by people with the manners of water buffalo with a bad temper and a case of hemorrhoids?

The Mrs. and I will be staying home, popping a bottle of bubbly that I bottled a while ago.  And that's perfectly fine with me.

Something to think about

With all these folks dying.  I had to do my PHA recently, and of course they took my labs.  My cholesterol was 230 or so.  The doc freaked.

I was relating this to my mom, who spent decades as a Registered Nurse Practitioner.  Think of a nurse with a doctorate.

She told me simply that our grandparents, and her grandparents, died with sky-high cholesterol.  In their 90's.

Maybe we should focus less on how much red meat people are eating, and more on what chemicals they're ingesting, either with their food or recreationally.

Why your washing machine sucks

The Foundation for Economic Education has an article about why modern American appliances suck.

And they do.

When I was stationed at Ft. Buchanan, they installed new "efficient" front-load washers into the housing on post.  They were so "efficient" that we had to run the loads TWICE in order to get the soap out of our clothes, doubling our water usage on laundry.

Don't get me started on low-flow toilets.  I'm a bigger than average guy, but not a monster by any means.  And there has never been a low-flow toilet than can flush my morning constitutional in one flush, meaning I have to stand by and do two or three flushes.  Which means lots of extra water.

One of my friends from another post recalled that they used cloth diapers, which required lots of washing.  But they lived in Germany at the time, and the water heaters there actually HEAT THE WATER, which meant that the diapers came out of the wash CLEAN!  Try doing that with an American washer, and an American water heater, which is more like a water warmer, and you'll end up with a bacteria laden lump of crap in your washer.

Why do we put up with this kind of horrible machinery?  Government.  Plain and simple.

It's far past time we said "Fuck the government".

Today on Woot

I normally don't do many product reviews, but I have one of these bad boys I think they're pretty awesome.  I typically use it on my motorcycle.  The pocket on the back comes with what they call a "Universal Holster".  Basically a couple straps of velcro to hold everything in place.  The pocket will fit a full-sized M1911A1 and a spare mag.

It's not the biggest bag in the world, but it's one that I keep using.

Watching a neighbor's dog

Whist they go off on holiday.  Luckily, he's not the type that tries to dominate everything in the house.  However, I can see our dogs having a discussion with him come meal time.

Another celebrity died

I don't care.

I really don't care.  Earlier this month I was part of a funeral for a man who lived his life to the fullest.  He raised two wonderful kids who are raising their own kids now.  He retired as a Master Sergeant form the USMC.  He ran rifle competitions for both the USMC and the NRA.

His funeral was attended by maybe twenty people.  And in my opinion, he was eminently more worthy of a send-off than some Hollywood celeb.

Last month, one of the folks at my parish in California died of cancer.  We was younger than I am.  He left behind a beautiful wife and five wonderful children.  His death was exponentially more tragic than any of these Hollywood people who spent their lives doing drugs and being stupid, or in the case of Debbie Reynolds, lived a decent life and died at the ripe old age of 84.

I'm a little tired of seeing people wail and moan and gnash their teeth as these celebrities kick the bucket.  Maybe if George Michael didn't do lines of coke of a male hooker's ass for decades, he would have lived longer.  Maybe if Prince wasn't popping pills like a ten-dollar whore, he wouldn't have died.  Many people have died this year, and I've mourned for many of them but Carrie Fisher isn't one.  Without going to Google or IMDB, can anyone name a movie other than any of the Star Wars franchise that she was a part of?

I didn't think so.

More people are going to die.  We all die.  Let's mourn the folks who deserve it.

We had an interesting sermon at Mass yesterday.  Yesterday was not only the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord, but it was the commemoration of St. Anastasia III, another Martyr.  In fact, there are a whole lot of feasts coming up celebrating Martyrs throughout Christianity's existence.  And fittingly, you'll find quite a few saints who were martyred.

As the priest put it, "Martyrdom, martyrdom, martyrdom, Merry Christmas."

So we celebrate the joy of the birth of our Savior, but we also have to keep in mind that Jesus didn't come here to save us on this world.  He came here to save us for the next.

God never promised us Earth.  He promised us Heaven.

Oh, and since the day after Christmas is almost as bad as the day after Thanksgiving, there's not a chance in hell I'm going out today.  Hells to the no.  I've got some bottling to do.  And cider to make. I'm using a lager yeast, since my basement is cold enough that ale yeasts don't seem to be doing much.  It's an experiment.  And then, I've got one batch of gose to make, and from there we're off into experiment territory again.

Terror attack at Christmas Market in Germany.

A truck rammed into a crowded Christmas market in Berlin Monday night, killing at least 12 people and injured 48 others in what witnesses described as a deliberate attack. 

German authorities said they are still investigating whether the crash was an accident, but a statement from the White House National Security Council (NSC) said the incident "appears to have been a terrorist attack."

Look, we shouldn't be shocked that the same corrupt organization that put Above Top Secret classified info on a private email server fell for a phishing scam.  They deserve every bit of scorn and mockery that gets heaped on their heads.  I have to take a cyber-security class every friggin' year as part of my job training, and it's the same damn class, every year.  Same damn things they cover, over and over and over.  If any of these blithering shitstains had bothered to just follow the same basic security protocols that anyone with a security clearance has to follow, they would have been fine.

But Clinton and her team were so stupid, so arrogant, so corrupt, that they couldn't do that.

So now we're treated to round after round of "THE ROOSKIES IS IN MY EMAILS!"

The joys of science!

So the Mrs. and I have been keeping an ale yeast alive for a couple of batches to see what the end result tastes like.  We started with a Nottingham Ale yeast, and made an apple cider with it.  It was good, but dry.  After I bottled the cider, I started a test batch of apple cyser; apple juice and honey instead of just plain juice.  I bottled it up about two weeks ago and did my usual bottle priming.  As of today, it's still not carbonated.

But a-ha, I had forgotten to do my math!  The S.G. was 1.062, and the final gravity was 0.992.  And running through my calculations, that puts the ABV at about...

9.2%, give or take.

From an ale yeast.  Holy crap, no wonder it's not carbonating!  That yeast is at the top end of it's range!  If I keep this up I'll have to invest in a keg and CO2 bottle.

I saved the yeast from that batch and I'll be starting up a blueberry batch.  The temps in the basement are running at around 60 degrees right now, so it'll be a slow batch.  We also got some lager yeast today, and I'll be making more cider and beer with that, since lagers do better in colder temps.  It's all an experiment, right?

And I'd better find some folks to help me drink this stuff, or I'll be pickled before too long.

But an hour and a half on the motorcycle and highway speeds when it's 40-50 degrees does chill a man.

I've been to the USS Arizona Memorial.  It's a sobering, solemn place.  There is evil in the world because some people are evil.  There is bad in the world because bad people to bad things.  We can debate about the roots of evil, and what makes people go bad, but the bottom line can be summed up very simple.  There are bad people.  They want to do, will do and have done bad things.  And sometimes, you need hard men with guns to stop those bad people.

The Left in America has spent generations undoing those lessons.  I expect more episodes like December 7th, and September 11th.  

Anyone who clings to the historically untrue -- and -- thoroughly immoral doctrine that violence never solves anything I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler would referee. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor; and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms.

Had my PHA today.  That's "Periodic Health Assessment" for those out of the military.  And they confirmed that my hearing is definitely not what it was.  Specifically in the range of things like explosions and gunfire.

Huh.  Gosh, I wonder what could have caused THAT?

I have to go back tomorrow for a second test, and if that confirmed the fuck-upedness of my hearing, there will be another test to determine the new baseline.

Long Day

I spent the day dealing with a funeral; no one I knew, but a USMC Master Sergeant who did three tours in Viet Nam.

Sometimes, even if it's not personal, it takes a bit out of you.  The driving both ways doesn't help.  And I get to work through the weekend.  Yay.

Just stop and take a look at those statements.  These people are arguing FOR paedophilia, and they were lobbying the government of England to allow it.  And they actually had people who were listening to them!  It brings to mind something I posted last year, from someone who's seen it first-hand.

What sets gay culture apart from straight culture is the belief that early sex is good and beneficial, and the sure knowledge (don’t think for a second that they DON’T know) that the only way to produce another homosexual is to provide a boy with sexual experiences BEFORE he can be “ruined” by attraction to a girl.

There is absolutely no good reason for an adult to be having sex with a kid.  None.  There is no good reason for people to advocate child/adult sexual activities.  None.  Period, full stop.  If there is someone out there advocating for adults to be able to have sex with children, it's because they either WANT to do so, or are already doing so.

I'm guessing the latter, based on what I've seen in this modern age.

Keith Ellison is a racist

Ellison’s writings while a student at the University of Minnesota law school– under the name “Keith Hakim”– raised eyebrows when he announced his first congressional run in 2006. The Weekly Standardnoted that “Ellison refers to ‘Minister Louis Farrakhan,’ defends Nation of Islam spokesman Khalid Abdul Muhammad, and speaks in the voice of a Nation of Islam advocate… ‘Hakim’ demands reparations for slavery and throws in a demand for an optional separate homeland for American blacks.”

This is why I don't get upset at white racists calling for segregation; you could take both the white racists and the black racists, and after changing a few names here and there, they would sound almost exactly alike.

The only real difference here is that Keith Ellison wants Whitey to pay money for something that happened a century and a half ago, while I presume the KKK and the Skinheads do not.  Other than that, what's the real difference?

Trump has a "bundler", a political operative who's job it is to collect lots of cash for his politician.

Now, imagine if the bundler, we'll call him "Mr. Smith", was 66 years old and had a 25 year old girl friend.

Sketchy?  Maybe kinda sorta make you think he had a few screws loose?

Now let's say that Mr. Smith has been arrested for having sex with a 15 year old girl.  Think it would be in the news?  Front page, A1, above the fold?  You're damn right it would be.

So when Obama's homosexual bundler, a 66 year old gay man with a 25 year old boyfriend who was arrested for having sex with a 15 year old boy gets arrested, why is it not news?

Remember, the very same people who are screaming about "fake news" are refusing to report on Obama's homosexual bundler getting arrested for molesting a 15 year old boy.
