Got seven pounds of bacon and two big hams in the smoker. Got it set as cold as I possibly can, which in Wisconsin is several shades colder than anywhere else I've been, so this is going to be a good cold smoke. Mix of apple and cherry.
Maybe I'll make it to church today. After the past couple of months, that would be rather enjoyable.

Finally. I feel like a sponge that's been wrung out, and then place on a train track for the locomotive to run over about ten times.

In New Orleans Yesterday
It was 33 degrees.
Thirty three. One degree above freezing. And it's currently sitting at -18 here at the Ragin' household.
Can we get some of that global warming I keep hearing about? That would be nice right about now.

Obamacare ruled unconstitutional
Instapundit has links.
I'm celebrating, but I also know this is just one battle in the larger war. This thing is going to go before the Supreme Court, and after I heard Steven Breyer on Fox News last weekend, I'm rather scared about what they're going to say.

And it's currently twenty-two degrees at the Ragin' House.
Below zero, that is.

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day
From the comments at this post of Dennis the Peasant's blog:
The rest of the post is just as good. Although I'm expecting that there will be at least one or two people who disagree.
What do you think executives at Philip Morris dream of at night? They dream of the day they can sell cannabis cigarettes to all the morons who are attacking them for selling tobacco!

No, no, no, no, no, and again NO!
No women in the infantry. No way, no how. The fact that this is even being considered shows just how fucking ignorant people are about the military and about our job. Holy Jumping Jehosephat on a pogo stick, just what do we have to do before the fucking stupid fairy stops beating people like this?
Dear lord, I didn't need to see that. I'm going to go buy a bottle, drink it completely dry, and then beat myself unconscious with it. Maybe I'll wake up and this will be nothing but a bad dream.

Linky Love today
Because Davey-boy is frazzled and running on "E". Luckily for me, Kevin Baker already found my link for the day: What's wrong with a little Socialism?
I don't think I can disagree with them. My fear is this - knowing who has their hands on the levers of power, how do we stop the next government from being worse?
The problem is that to implement socialism, basic freedoms have to be curtailed or abolished. For starters, socialism is built on government ownership or very tight control of industry and commerce. This means, obviously, that citizens' rights to freely pursue business opportunities are severely limited by the government. Property rights must also be greatly curtailed, and the personal accumulation of wealth abolished. The government becomes the arbitrator of who succeeds, and to what extent. And also from Mr. Baker is the "Grab your guns and ammo" post of the day.
Today’s stark refusal of the senate to heel in their most venal, basic impulses over the country’s dire need for prudent management during our current economic implosion, a feat they foolishly orchestrated in all of their glorious incompetence, tells me we’ve crossed the abyss into no man’s land.
The crisp suits we’ve elected to spend and manage our money don’t have a single ounce of respect for the work and sacrifice we provide to fund their sickening folly. Their disdain for the republic is manifest in every piece of statist legislation under consideration, their privileged contempt for our conscripted dollars evident in every spendthrift measure they pass.
I believe it’s finally time to start discussing alternatives to our present system. The republic of the founding fathers no longer exists.
I don't think I can disagree with them. My fear is this - knowing who has their hands on the levers of power, how do we stop the next government from being worse?

Maybe it's just me
Jennifer Rubin says that Obama caved, Republicans won the tax battle of 2010.
Come January, we need to do better. However, kicking the tax debate can down the road until 2012? Friggin' Brilliant. Let's have that debate right before the 2012 elections! The only way to get taxes more on the minds of voters is to move Income Tax day from April 15th to the Monday before elections. So on that we got a win.
There really is no other way to say it: the Republicans won, the liberal Democrats lost, and the president sided with the Republicans. The subject, of course, is an agreement to extend all the Bust tax cuts. The president tonight announced a "bipartisan framework" for agreement on, among other things, to extend the Bush tax cuts for two years. A Republican House aide tells me tonight it is "a damn good deal." And so it is, from the perspective of conservatives.

December 7th, 1941
Is the day the Empire of Japan attacked, without provocation, the US at Pearl Harbor, and Schofield Barracks, and Wheeler Field, and Hickam Field, and Kaneohe, which later became Kaneohe Marine Air Base, which is where my father was stationed when I was a kid.
I've been to the USS Arizona memorial. It's still leaking oil, one tiny drop at a time, blossoming on the water's surface bit by bit.
Do I blame modern day Japan for this? Of course not. The Japanese of today have as little to do with that war as I do. But I bring it up because it shows the folly of sitting around while violent men with hostile intentions plan to attack you. A lesson that quite a bit of this country seems to have forgotten. And we've forgotten it before, to our detriment.
I wonder how many of our high school students in America today even know why December 7th happened?

Webster Wept
Megan McCain had to look up what "blue bloods" meant?
No wonder the Democrat Media loves this woman; she's a fucking imbecile. I caught one tiny bit of some speech she had done on a TV show. Some radio host was just having a field day with her statement "as a twenty-nine year old woman...." and that's all I heard, because the radio host would only play that much. Just that little bit of speech, seven words, she sounded like Paris Hilton with body fat.
Yeech.

Sausage
Since several kind-hearted strangers have donated venison to the Ragin' Household, my hunting season being ended before it ever started, the Ragin' Mrs. and I have started experimenting with recipes. Two kinds of hunter's sausage. An Italian Wine and Cheese sausage. And a merguez which should be hot enough to blow my sinuses out my ears.
Oh yeah, baby. It's good eats time.

Snowfall
After the light dustings that we've had over the past week, Mother Nature finally decided to dump a bunch on us at once.
I think that freshly fallen snow is one of the most beautiful sights on God's earth. I'll have to find a few good photos of it before I shovel it off of my sidewalk. And they just lit the Christmas lights in the park last night. It'll be beautiful tonight.

Today's Must Read
Transfers by Francis W. Porretto.
The United States operates several transfer programs at the federal level, and many more at the state, county, and municipal levels. Transfer programs, and the bureaucracies that operate them, consume over half of all governmental revenues at this time. Of the $3.6 trillion federal budget for 2011, about $1.8 trillion is consumed by transfer programs.
They who argue for a transfer program usually invoke the mantra of "compassion." it's to "help the poor," or to "feed the elderly," or to help the handicapped," or some such. Sometimes it's to "prepare our children," though what "our children" are being prepared for mostly looks like habituation to dependency in a thoroughly amoral society based on State-mediated theft.
And that's before we get to the question of efficiency. The statistics are unambiguous: governmental transfer programs invariably divert more than half of the money allocated to them to bureaucrats' salaries and operational overhead. In 2001, the most recent year for which I have figures, 72% of the budget of the Department of Health and Human Services went to bureaucrats' salaries and overhead; only 28% of its funds reached its supposed beneficiaries.
The least efficient of the large private charities, the United Way, averages an 85% rate of conversion of inputs to benefits. Only 15% of the funds it collects goes to salaries and overhead.
Must I state plainly that usually, when we refer to a government transfer program's "beneficiaries," we're thinking of the wrong bunch? Is it simply too obvious?
You have to read the rest.
Still Got Nothing
We're hitting another one of those balls-to-the-wall cycles at work, where I'm essentially running from the moment I get up until I come home and collapse on the couch.
One of the Chaplains I worked with in the past sent me an email that contains an op-ed full of fail. I'll have to pull it up and post it later, because I'm being kind of lazy right now, but the whole gist if the piece is that Americans need to be more "sexually liberated".
My pop-off question: Since sexual liberation has given us an epidemic of STDs, AIDS, broken families, single parent families, teen-age pregnancies, and a breakdown of societal morals, just why do we want MORE of it? Can anyone out there name one good thing that sexual liberation has done for society as a whole?
Anyone?

Snow, Finally
We should normally have snow by Thanksgiving. This year it took until the last day in November.
And no, this isn't "global warming". Two years ago we had snow in mid-October.
And as for global warming, if you haven't seen this video of all the Global Bullshit Artists partying it up in Cancun, take a moment and watch it. And then realize that the most recent glow-bull warming message to come out came from this group. This band of hypocrites who all flew to CAN-FUCKING-CUN to party and eat and drink and tell us not to consume too much.
They can all choke.

Wikileaks exposes Obama's Incompetence
And bad. Not only is Obama incompetent on the Middle East, but pretty much his entire staff of experts on the Middle East don't know a damn thing about the Middle East, and don't know how to communicate with the countries in the Middle East.
Gosh - if only someone had pointed out Obama's complete and total lack of experience in foreign affairs during the campaign. Oh, right, we did, and plenty of other people did, but the Obama-bots and various Leftist sycophants wouldn't hear it.
My god, we're so screwed.

From the "We TOLD you!" files
SEIU dropping children from it's healthcare insurance because of Obamacare.
Well, what the fuck did you expect, you Obama-worshipping goons? Oh, and here's the icing on the cake:
The unions hope the State of New York will fund their healthcare? Hmmmmmm.... Gosh, who could have seen that coming? Of course, New York is a bit like California in their economic state, that being well and truly screwed, so I doubt there will be any honey flowing from that pot any time soon. But the mindset is just boggling. They got everything they fucking wanted, and now they're screwed, so they demand that other people pay for their healthcare.
Don't think that won't happen in your state.

Well, what the fuck did you expect, you Obama-worshipping goons? Oh, and here's the icing on the cake:
As premiums went up and employer contributions remained constant, the benefit fund started cutting the rolls of eligible members. In the past three years the 1199 fund reduced its total enrollment in half, to less than 40,000 currently.
“We hope the state of New York will do the right thing and provide the funding necessary for this most vulnerable population of direct caregivers,” the union said in a statement.

Palin Derangement Syndrome
So, do you think Sandra Bernhard hates Bristol Palin because:
A: Bristol is a hundred times better looking than Bernhard.
B: Bristol's mom is a hundred times better looking than Bernhard.
C: Both Bristol and her mom can pull more attention and bigger audiences than Bernhard.
D: Neither Bristol or her mom have wasted their lives with cheap vodka and quaaludes, unlike Bernhard.
E: All of the above.
The ugly, vicious, joyless harpies of the Left spew venom against a 20 year old girl for just being on a show about dancing. That says more about them than it says about anyone else. Still, we've come to expect a complete and total lack of class from the Left, and they never disappoint.

Boise State
lost last night. No, that doesn't make me happy. And I know a certain ass-hatted fuckstick out of Ohio who's probably running around to all of his friends and going "SEE! SEE! I TOLD YOU!" Of course, that certain ass-hatted fuckstick would shit himself silly if he saw BSU on the schedule for his precious team, which is why that certain ass-hatted fuckstick has not and will not schedule BSU ever. Ever, ever, ever, even after BSU put out the offer that they'll play anyone, anytime, on the other teams field, and not require a reciprocal trip to Boise.
So Boise State lost to 19th ranked Nevada last night in overtime. The usual people who hate any non-automatic BCS bid conference are all going to be twittering into their mocha-frapa-cumma-latea and talking about how they all just KNEW that BSU didn't belong in the BCS championship game. However, in the years between losses that BSU has gone through, they have beaten-
in 2010:
#24 ranked Oregon State
#10 ranked Virginia Tech.
In 2009:
#4 Texas Christian University
#16 Oregon
in 2008, they beat #17 Oregon before losing to #11 TCU in the Pointsetta Bowl. You have to go back to the bowl season of 2008 to find their last loss. In the meantime, they've beaten, until last night, every ranked team they've played, plus a whole host of other teams. And the Ohio State Nutsack wants to badmouth BSU and TCU?
Of course, this could all be settled if the Ohio State Nutless Wonders would schedule BSU for a game. Any time, any where. Like BSU has asked all over the country. But the Ohio State Quivering Bitches ain't gonna do it, because they know, just like Oklahoma knows, just like Oregon knows, just like anyone who's played BSU knows - Boise State belongs on the big stage. And unlike several major schools such as the Ohio State Ball-Sniffers, Boise State has done it with class and dignity.
So last night BSU lost to a ranked opponent. As I currently live in Wisconsin right now, let me remind the Ohio State Bedwetters that they got their dick stomped by the Badgers earlier this year. So just like Boise State, the Ohio State Crybabies lost to a ranked opponent.
And so now, even though I'll still root for BSU, I'm going to be pulling hard for TCU to upend the BSC bandwagon this year, just to listen to the howling screams coming from the automatic qualifying conferences. Like the Ohio State Mouth Breathers.

Another Busy Day
Hey, I got most of yesterday to relax. And eat. The Ragin' Mrs. made an awesome pork trifecta that just blew our collective minds. A pork loin, butterflied out, our home-made bratwurst cut out of it's casing and spread over the loin, apples chopped up and spread on the bratwurst, then the whole thing rolled up and covered with our own bacon. Then baked.
People, I can't friggin' tell you just how awesome that was.
Anyways, today we're preparing for the grand opening of Dave's hippy experience. So lots of prep and baking going on. Y'all have fun doing whatever you do. And check out the House of Eratosthenes piece, Liberal Men are wimps who can't handle a real woman. Which pretty much sums it all up.

The DHS List
Of people who object to getting "gate-raped" at the airport. Posted by Leonidas at Eternity Road. It seems that the government wants to find out who is a subject, and who is still a citizen, so that they can punish the citizens.
Are you surprised? Why? Look at who is in charge! They celebrate dictators the world around, what makes you think they actually like or want our current republic?

The Rebuttle
Mr. Porretto says to spread this far and wide. I don't think it's nasty enough, but here it is.
Any Democrat asking for "peace" or "calm" or any such rot should be told to go outside and play hide-and-go-fuck-themselves in short order. Period, the end.
Yes, we will burn down the house of Progressive Democrats and lay waste to the entire construct of the welfare state. It will be a long, decades-long battle, but we will prevail because we learned the consequences of not teaching our young ourselves. We delegated that to you, and that was our first mistake. We assumed you were honest brokers, but now we know better.
Carthago delenda est.
I accept that's the intellectually lazy response, but I have to work with what you can understand.
My preference is more of a “Thucydides account of the no-mercy overthrow of the oligarchs at Corcyra” type of historical reference.
Either way, I am confident you can deduce the “tone”of my rebuttal.
Any Democrat asking for "peace" or "calm" or any such rot should be told to go outside and play hide-and-go-fuck-themselves in short order. Period, the end.
Completely tasteless post of the day
So, now the Miley Cyrus is 18, and given her past actions when she was barely legal, how long will it be before we see various nekkid Miley Cyrus pictures on all the paparazzi websites?

And while the right hand was busy
The Left hand was engaged in spectacular fail.
I can't think of both a better way and worse way to refute this Administration's attempt to use the criminal justice system to deal with terrorism. But they'll never admit it. Holder should have been fired over a year ago. Every day brings more evidence that he still needs to be fired, and perhaps charged in dereliction of duty.
The failure of Holder’s DoJ to win anything more than a single conspiracy count against Ghailani as a result of using a process designed for domestic criminals than wartime enemies shows that the critics had it right all along. It also shows that both Obama and Holder have been proven spectacularly wrong, since a man who confessed to the murder of over two hundred people will now face no more than 20 years, with a big chunk of whatever sentence Foopie receives being reduced by time already served.

Weddings
I was attending one this weekend. Sorry for the lack of posting yesterday, but I was rather busy. In the meantime, how far as the government gone in destroying this country while I was away?
Oh, and Og links to how Airport Security should be done. Please note that it's about as unlike the TSA as you can possibly get. But then, Israeli security is actually meant to keep things secure, not expand government control over it's subjects.

Because it's either that, or.... well.......

And the Government takeover of food production bill. Yeah, I know that sounds a bit alarmist. Read the friggin' bill. It gives the government even more power over everyday citizens. It's another step towards dictatorship.

Power corrupts
Via Instapundit, this piece on what certain incoming congressmen should expect is full of .... well, just WRONGness.
1 - This is about as negative a connotation on the female gender as you can really write, because the bottom line that comes bursting through is that women only care about power and money. Yes, yes, I know that only a small percentage of women are out there chasing congressmen, but still, it reinforces the perception.
2 - THIS IS WHY ETHICS AND MORALS MATTER. Well, it's one of the many reasons why. There will be a ton of temptations thrown at new members of congress in every direction. "Vote the way I want and your wife won't see these pictures, mkay?" "Vote the way I want and these photos of you and your mistress won't show up during your re-election campaign, got it?" A man who cheats on his wife probably can't be trusted in smaller matters. You can call that harsh, but if he'll break his oath to his spouse, he'll break his oath to you and anyone else.
There's only two or three paragraphs in that article, and in my mind they manage to encompass a huge amount of wrongness about D.C.
The effect this place has, especially [on] men who come to Washington who are away from their families and the behavior you see at night is the behavior you often saw from our friends in college. Especially unattractive members of the Congress who have not had women show attention to them maybe since college. They come here. Power is an aphrodisiac. Suddenly they have women who are interested in them. It’s a temptation some can’t withstand.”As I'm reading this, I've got ten thousand thoughts all jumping out of my head. Here's a few that I managed to grab before they flew away.

So, did ya miss me?
And while I was away, Charlie Rangle was convicted of 11 ethics charges. Yay! Of course, he'll be sentenced by other members of Congress, which means that he'll get to keep his job and maybe get a slap on the wrist, when any other American not politically connected would be sitting in jail.
Yay.
He should be expelled from Congress. Period. Of course, the longer he stays in, the longer we can talk about how such a corrupt worm is a proud member of theDemocrat American Communist Party. So there's still a silver lining to that particular cloud.
Anyways, I'm back, and I'm catching up on the news. Oh, and the new TSA Guidelines? What a load of crap. What an absolute load of crap. I can't wait until I have some TSA person grabbing my junk in a laughable "search". And considering the sheer amount of flying I'll have to do? Maybe I'll start taking the train.

Veteran's Day
I don't know if there's anything that I can say to beat all the essays and speeches made by people far more verbose than me.
There's times when I have to travel in uniform, and I'm always at a loss of what to say when someone comes up to me and says "Thank You". I don't think I've done nearly enough to deserve that thanks, compared to so many of the people currently serving in all the branches of the military today. If you really want to thank a veteran, donate to Soldier's Angels, or the USO, or volunteer some time at the local VA hospital or airport USO. There's no better sight to a Soldier who's laid up at an airport for hours than the brightly lit open door of a USO. A cup of coffee and a PB&J sammich does wonders for a soul who's been on a plane for hours, and probably has more hours on a plane to look forward to.
In the meantime, I'm off to Portland. Posting will be spotty for a while. Toodles!

A peek into our Future
If the Democrat American Communist Party gets it's way.
Just remember, if you want to know the effects of progressivism, all you have to do is look at where it's been implemented.

Semper Fidelis
Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps.
As my father would say "Yeah, don't let that 'Department of the Navy' fool ya. We're the MENS Department."
Dear Senator McConnell
Go to hell and choke to death on the barbed cock of Satan, you pudding-faced bag of rancid gopher vomit. THIS is why the Republicans can't be trusted. THIS is why they were fighting so hard against people like Christine O'Donnell. They want to go back to business as usual, just like they did during the Bush years. They're nothing more than a slightly less corrupt version of the Democrat American Communist Party, but with fewer morals, ethics and standards.
If the new blood doesn't make it's effect felt in Congress, there's going to be a third party in 2012.

Publik skools
Data coming out that isn't pretty.
No sir, not out of line at all.
The report argues that the achievement gaps start at young ages, noting that while 12 percent of black boys in the fourth grade boys are proficient in reading, 38 percent of white boys are proficient. In eighth grade, 12 percent of black boys and 44 percent of white boys are are proficient in math. According to the report, poverty levels are only part of the equation because poor white boys (defined by eligibility for subsidized school lunches) are doing as well as black boys who do not live in poverty.I hate to tell the New York Times or anyone else, but this report is NOT jaw-dropping to anyone who has had to read a piece of correspondence from anyone with a high school diploma. However, what is jaw dropping is the fact that people are looking at race. That doesn't happen much, because there's a fear of being labeled a racist. It's like the new third rail of politics. But Trog has no fear!
Am I out of line to be thinking of this story?
Blacks struggle with 72 percent unwed mothers rate
I don’t think I am.
No sir, not out of line at all.

The Long Day Closes
I don't know if anyone out there has heard of an a cappella group called The King's Singers. But if you hadn't, here's your introduction.
On this one there's no actual video, so just turn up your speakers and close your eyes. They're singing in German, if you want to know.
If there's one form of art that hits me the hardest, it's music.

Jeff G asks
Why would we want a Senator Castle in Delaware?
My answer (and his) is simple - we wouldn't. We're tired of having Republicans stab their voting base in the back. We're tired of having representation who supposedly believes in smaller government spending more and more of our money on an exponentially growing scale.
He then follows that post with a little Mark Levin note (and his own thoughts) to Karl Rove and other GOP elites that I also agree with:
The RNSC did everything in their power to attack Christine O'Donnell. The RNSC wanted O'Donnell to lose because ..... well, as near as I can tell because she wasn't one of THEM. She wasn't some back-room dealing sleazebag who would talk out of both sides of her mouth and let the RNSC make all the choices, which is what the RNSC really wants.
And Karl Rove, Mr. Mastermind, who masterminded the GOP's defeat in 2006 and their further slide in 2008? The people of Delaware picked Mrs. O'Donnell to represent them. You did your best to denigrate her on national TV. Maybe if you had kept your fat mouth shut, she wouldn't have lost, because you would NOT have been handing the Democrats ammo!
In short, the GOP leadership, the RNSC, Karl Rove, and the other various people who are lashing out at the Tea Parties can all go choke to death on the barbed cock of Satan. Without the Tea Parties the GOP would have lost even more seats in Congress this year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. I mean for pete's sake, if you're endorsing Charlie Crist over Marco Rubio, you are officially done as a serious entity!
Blah.

The same people who drove the GOP into the electoral ditch — and then after the ’08 elections presumed to lecture us on its certain further demise, should conservatives and ideological “purists” not accept a good chunk of the progressive agenda as a political fait accompli, or pretend comity with someone we knew to be a dangerous socialist ideologue (and yes, everything in his biography pointed to this) — are now using gainsdriven by the TEA Party to criticize and denigrate the very benefactors who have enabled their return to relevancy.

The gift that keeps on giving
Granny Rictus McBotox, San Fran Nan, is going to try to stay on as House Minority Leader. Which means that voters will continue to have an example of arrogance, stupidity, political bullshit, elitism, greed, and a naked lust for power all wrapped up in one convenient package as to why they should never, ever, ever vote for the Democrat again.
Hot Air has it as well. Other than having to listen to Pelosi give more press interviews, I don't see a downside of this for conservatives. The woman is every negative thing about a politician you can describe, all enclosed in one person, and she's trying to be the stretched out, botoxed face of the Donks for the next couple of years?
NANCY FOR HOUSE MINORITY LEADER! This is one movement I can get behind!

Post-Election hangover
First, the bad news. The GOP elite and the RNSC fucked up, and hard. They are the reason Christine O'Donnell lost. They are the reason Joe Miller lost, and Lisa Murky, Murcokeski, McWhatsername is nothing more than a power-hungry aristocratic piece of shit but that's who the GOP hitched their wagon to. Angle lost in Nevada. We could have bumped off one of the architects of America's demise, but lost that chance for another six years. California has shown that it's well and truly fucked, and should probably be walled of and quarantined before the infection spreads any further.
The Good News? Conservatives have retaken control of the House of Representatives. Notice I didn't say "Republicans". There's a reason for that.
Conservatives have retaken quite a few state legislatures.
Here in Wisconsin, the fact that Russ Finegold lost makes me want to dip my nuts in a chocolate pudding cup and teabag every moonbat within five miles.
But bottom line, we're not done. Not by a long shot. We should have wiped the damn floor with the Democrats, but they're still up and breathing. That's not acceptable. We have two years before the presidential elections. A lot can go wrong in two years, and as the GOP has shown they don't even need that long to really fuck things up. These are the people who could fuck up a wet dream. Fucking up their gains in the House is a real possibility, and we need to ride herd on these idiots for two years, and then two years after that. And two years after that. Until gutless fuckits like Mitch McConnell and Lisa "DADDY GAVE ME MY SEAT" Murcokinski and the various other power hungry elitist pieces of shit are gone.
Don't get cocky. Don't for one second get complacent. We're not just fighting the anti-American douchnozzles of the Left, we're fighting the douchnozzles within the GOP on top of everything. Take a breath, pat yourself on the back, and then get back in the trenches.

Whatever you do today
GO VOTE!!!!
The Ragin' Mrs. and I have already cast our absentee ballots, since we're living out of state at the moment. But if another Donk goes down, I'll know that I at least had something to do with it.
And it's friggin' IDAHO, so it shouldn't be that hard. We'll see.
And get your friends and family to vote as well. Remember, we have to beat all the fraudulent ballots that the Democrat party uses. As Doug Ross puts it - "I will walk on f**king broken glass to get to the polls today." And take your camera. If your cell phone has a camera, take that as well. My little camera takes video. If you see vote fraud occurring, PHOTOGRAPH IT! RECORD IT! Let's make sure we take down the bastards committing it.

And Again v.5
THE MEDIA IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!
The lying, cheating bastards never stop. This is a big reason why I refuse to watch TV. I don't want to be lied to on a daily basis. And I'm certainly not going to pay for the privilege.
Before this went to press, CBS News made their own estimate: 215,000 versus their estimate of 87,000 for the Beck rally.
To which I say “Oh, nonsense.”
Their contractor, AirPhotosLive.com, it turns out, did at least publish an explanation of their methodology,.
AirPhotosLive.com is correct that trying to count oblique photos is unsatisfactory, which is why we don’t: we use the oblique photos to get geography bounds on the crowd against landmarks, and then make a range of estimates using the Park Service’s own standards for crowd density.
The Beck rally covered roughly 2.4 million square feet and by AirPhotosLive’s own photographs large parts of that area were packed as densely as any overhead picture of Stewart/Colbert. The Stewart/Colbert rally had, at most, about 6/10th the space — 1.62 million square feet vs. 2.4 million. For it to have had that many people, they would have had to be packed about 6.7 times more densely than the densest parts of the Beck crowd.
Not a chance. Not even if they were packed in olive oil.
The lying, cheating bastards never stop. This is a big reason why I refuse to watch TV. I don't want to be lied to on a daily basis. And I'm certainly not going to pay for the privilege.
Another Oldie but Goodie
I know I've posted this before, maybe linked from DANEgerus. But it's good enough to post again. And again. And again. The 45 goals from The Naked Communist. Link takes you to Curmudgeonly & Skeptical.
I'm counting 40 out of 45 goals that have been accomplished off that list, and one of the goals doesn't apply any more since Germany is re-united. Does that tell you how fucked we are as a country? The damage done by communism, and it's worshippers in theDemocrat American Communist Party is still being incurred. My mind keeps going back to my mom telling me to expect another civil war in my life time. I still believe it can happen, and most likely will. The only question is when, and how much blood will be shed. We'll see what happens after tomorrow. If we can repeal the dead weight of big government, we might stand a chance. If the new congresscritters get into office and transform into the people they replaced? Fuck it.
1. U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war. (They did that. I remember being told that we just have to accept the USSR, because it's not going away. Leftists told me that.)
2. U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.
3. Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength. (Leftists crying for America to disarm itself. Still occurring today)
4. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war. (Being done today.)
5. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.
6. Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination. (Being done today)
7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N. (Done. And done.)
8. Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev's promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N. (I can still remember when the wall came down)
9. Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.
10. Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N. (Done today)
11. Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (First part done. Second part not yet, but they're working on it.)
12. Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.
13. Do away with all loyalty oaths. (Much like how the League of Women Voters don't want the Pledge of Allegiance recited before a debate.)
14. Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office. (Continued.)
15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. (The Democrat Party, who's planks and plans are now identical to anything the USSR or the German National Socialist Workers party could come up with, minus the gas chambers and ovens.)
16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights. (Done, and still continuing.)
17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks. (Done, so completely that there's really no hope of fixing them. See Kevin Baker's essays on the American School System. Hopeless is too nice a word to describe them.)
18. Gain control of all student newspapers. (And all professional ones too! Done and done.)
19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack. (Done. Started in the 60's, and still going on.)
20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions. (Done.)
21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures. (Done.)
22. Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. Skousen claimed that an American Communist cell was told to "eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms." (Public Art, financed by the National Endowment of the Arts, is so friggin' UGLY that you can tell immediately where it came from.)
23. Control art critics and directors of art museums. (Which is how "public" art gets shown, despite looking like a dog's shaved ass.)
24. Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press. (I remember the court case where cartoon child pr0n was ruled a 1st Amendment issue. NAMBLA is a 1st Amendment issue. I'd say this goal is accomplished.)
25. Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV. (Done. The things they say on TV wouldn't even make it into the movies forty years ago.)
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, healthy." Skousen claimed Communists sought to encourage the practice of masturbation. (Ummmmm... done, done, done, and done. And still going.)
27. Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with "social" religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a "religious crutch." (Done. And still continuing.)
28. Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state." (DONE!)
29. Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis. (A mantra I keep hearing from the Left on a continual basis.)
30. Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man." (Or get collage professors to refer to them as a bunch of "dead white guys". Done.)
31. Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the "big picture." Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over. (Done.)
32. Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc. (Done, so friggin done that it'll take a bloody war to get it out.)
33. Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus. (Done.)
34. Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities. (Done.)
35. Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI. (Not so much, but the CIA is pretty much discredited right now.)
36. Infiltrate and gain control of more unions. (Done, totally and completely.)
37. Infiltrate and gain control of big business. (Partially done. Big business doesn't lend itself well to communism.)
38. Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat. (Done, and the medication of America's youth proceeds uninhibited.)
39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals. (And label conservatives as "crazy".)
40. Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity, masturbation and easy divorce. (Done, done and done. The independent family interferes with the god-parent state.)
41. Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents. (Kinda like how the Left and the teachers unions describe homeschooling!)
42. Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use "united force" to solve economic, political or social problems. (Until the Tea Parties do it, then it's bad.)
43. Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government. (Much like Afghanistan right now.)
44. Internationalize the Panama Canal. (Done. Thanks, Jimmah the fucking peanut Carter!)
45. Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike. (Well, they're trying).
I'm counting 40 out of 45 goals that have been accomplished off that list, and one of the goals doesn't apply any more since Germany is re-united. Does that tell you how fucked we are as a country? The damage done by communism, and it's worshippers in the

Linky Love
Since Doctor Zero has given up the blogging business for actual paid writing, I'm going to have to link to one of his last posts at Hot Air. Well, I'd link to it anyways, so go read it will ya?
And it gets worse.
The 111th congress stank with the corruption of Christopher Dodd, Jack Murtha, Maxine Waters, Charlie Rangel, and Harry Reid. The ruling Party made it clear that it would go to any lengths to protect its worst members from investigation and punishment. The agenda of this Congress was conducted behind closed doors, or slipped like poison into the legislative bloodstream, to escape the notice of the American people. Fat bailouts for loyal union allies were hidden inside bills that were supposed to fund the military. Nobody knew what this Congress was really voting on… including members of Congress, who didn’t bother to read the bills anyway.
And it gets worse.
Good-Bye, Pontiac
Maybe if you didn't have government shitweasels running you, you would still be a viable car company. But between idiots up top, and idiots in the UAW making it a money losing business, ain't no way it's going to stay going.
But I'll bet there's some Asian car company just salivating at the chance to get into the US Market now that there's one less company doing business here. Maybe they'll join Toyota, Honda and Hyundai in building factories that actually produce cars at a profit down South.

Fuck Chicago.

Lifestyles of the dumb and clueless
John F'n Kerry says that America is in a period of "know-nothingess", or some bullshit like that. Well, he's kinda right. He's still a member of Congress. If people in America were more informed, he'd be tarred, feathered, and pushed out to see on his yacht, which would be filled with oil and set afire by archers on shore shooting lit arrows onto the poop deck. Because that's what you do with anti-American, backstabbing traitorous shitweasels like John F'n Kerry.
Seriously, this guy is one big GOP campaign commercial, isn't he?

Curb-Stomped
Or, ya know, NOT. There's video out of the Rand Paul rally that's currently got the Leftist shitheels up in arms, only it shows the Moveon.org zombie bumrushing Paul's car not once but twice before she was restrained. And she wasn't curb stomped. Some blockhead stepped on her shoulder to keep her down. Sorry, not curb stomping.
Kenneth Gladney got the living shit beat out of him by Leftist thugs and had to go to the hospital. But he doesn't count, because he supports the Tea Parties, so no story for you! This two-bit bitch bumrushed a politician's car carrying an object in her hands, TWICE, and she got restrained, but because she's part of the groupthink class, the media is up in arms.
You know what? At this point, I wouldn't mind seeing a Moveon.org zombie get curbstomped. Maybe it would teach them to behave in a half-way civilized fashion for once.

Conversations
So the Mrs. was making our Cranberry BBQ Sauce, and it calls for fresh cranberries, and as she's stirring it she's talking to them.
Ragin' Mrs.: C'mon little cranberries! Pop! Pop and fill the sauce with your cranberry goodness! Be conservative cranberries!
Ragin' Dave: Conservative Cranberries?
Ragin' Mrs.: Yeah, cranberries that know they have to work and put effort into it and be productive. Not like lazy liberal cranberries!
Ragin' Dave: I'm so putting this on the blog.
By the way, if the only cranberry sauce you've ever seen came out of a can, go buy a bag of cranberries. Put it in a saucepot, and cover it with enough water to just cover the berries. Add in a cup of sugar. Simmer. The berries will pop open, and the pectin in the berries will thicken up the sauce. There you go. Home made cranberry sauce. It's really not that hard.

Blatz
Blatz is still produced and sold around these parts. It sounds the same when you pronounce it as when it comes out of you the next morning.
Wind
We've got a system blowing through right now that's taking damn near everything that isn't tied down and blowing it into the next county. Whew.
I think I just saw Nancy Pelosi ride her broom through the area, headed West.

Retirement
No, not for me. I still have quite a bit of time before that happens. But last Saturday, a rather prominent member of my unit retired, after 41 years of military service. Just stop and think about that. How many of the people reading this blog are younger than 41? This guy joined the military before you were born.
Forty one years. Four decades of military service. That just doesn't happen. But he's retired now, and working happily on his property, planning his hunt for next month.
Godspeed.

Dig out your wool clothing
Because this winter is going to get downright cold. To those of you in Florida, that should frighten you a bit. For those of us in more Northern climes, that should scare you shitless.
Pardon me, I need to go buy a block heater for my truck.

Quote of the day III
From the comments to this post at The Smallest Minority. (And read the entire post, it's well worth it.)
“Political tags—such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal conservative, and so forth—are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.” - Robert Heinlein
I think that's a damn good summation.

Seen this yet?
Right.
Perhaps if you didn't have two "progressive" anti-American hacks running the debate, displays like this wouldn't be necessary. But until the Left is beaten down and kicked the hell out (or finally make good on their promise to leave that they made when Bush won the 2004 election) the people who actually love this country are going to have to keep reminding them that just because their Marxist Messiah is in the White House doesn't mean that all Americans have bought into the trans-nationalist ideal that their Leninist Leader pushes. We're proud to be American, because we know just what that entails.
I read crap like this, and I hear the prediction made years ago about another civil war, and suddenly it sounds a bit more plausible.
It happened Wednesday night at the beginning of a debate between Democratic incumbent Melissa Bean, GOP challenger Joe Walsh and Green Party candidate Bill Scheurer. The debate for Illinois 8th congressional district took place at Grayslake Central High School. While League of Women Voters moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish began explaining the rules of the debate an audience member raised his hand and (when called upon) asked if they were going to start with the Pledge of Allegiance. When she said no, the audience booed and almost all in the crowd of more than 300 stood and enthusiastically recited it anyway. Tate-Bradish, who joined in the pledge, issued a scolding when the crowd finished saying they are not allowed to disrespect her.
(.....)
Illinois League of Women Voters Executive Director Jan Czarnik said what happened at the debate and subsequent criticism directed at moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish was an attempt by supporters of Republican candidate Joe Walsh and tea party members to bully the organization. So, just to recap - saying the pledge of allegiance? A GOP plot to bully the Illinois League of Women Voters and "phony patriotism".
Right.

Music for a Sunday
For those who don't know, the month of October in the Catholic Church is dedicated to the Rosary, which in it's basic form is a prayer (or prayers, depending on your point of view) said to the mother of Jesus asking for her intercession with her son. I won't get into the theological aspects of everything on this blog, because to be quite frank I don't know if I'm the best guy to have a theological discussion with. But when I was the choir director of my chapel, I always wanted to hear "Ave Maria" by Schubert in October. A simple prayer, set to music.
Ave Maria was set to music by a whole host of different composers, but this one has always been my favorite.

More Democrat Voter Registration Fraud
This time in Colorado. THIS IS HOW THEY WIN ELECTIONS, PEOPLE! THEY CHEAT! In Colorado! In Wisconsin! In Arizona! In Ohio! In Pennsylvania! Everywhere across this nation, the Democrat American Communist Party has been outright stealing elections for years, and they are going to continue to do it until they are forcibly stopped!
People either need to start going to jail, or their offices need to be burned to the ground. You think I'm kidding? YOU ARE VIOLATING THE RIGHT OF EVERY AMERICAN TO HAVE THEIR VOICE HEARD AT THE BALLOT BOX WHEN YOU COMMIT VOTE FRAUD.

The Juan Williams Kurfluffle
I'm not going to get into what's legal about the whole thing, or any of the other myriad arguments that can be spun off on this. What I am going to do is use this situation as a way to prove that liberals hate anyone who doesn't think exactly like them, and can't stand it when anyone strays off the plantation.
Look, Williams is a liberal. But he also worked for Fox News every now and then, only now it's a full time gig, thanks to NPR! The oh-so-progressive Left can't stand Fox News, and so they found a way to punish Williams for working for them. NPR is one of the most hyper-partisan media groups in the nation, and it's chock-full o' moonbats on the BEST of days. They have no problem with advocating controversial positions, so long as those positions are Leftist in nature. Williams' mistake is that he said what a lot of normal, everyday Americans think. And NPR can't have that happening on their watch!
I would love to see NPR get de-funded. I hear George Soros is giving them a million dollars or something like that? He already funds Media Matters, and I don't see much difference between the two. Let Daddy George pay their bills.

Yet Another Obamacare Success Story!
Via Insty, the words of a businessman who will no longer be paying his employee's health insurance, due directly to Obamacare. Yay!
Every time I see someone with an "Obama" bumper sticker, I want to remind them that the train wreck coming our way is due to them being a moron.
I am not the only employer reaching this conclusion. AT&T, Verizon, Caterpillar and Deere have all contemplated dropping their health benefits as a result of the health reform legislation. About 63 percent of businesses intend to shift a higher percentage of premium costs to employees in 2011, according to a survey recently released by the Washington-based National Business Group on Health. The survey included 72 companies that employ more than 3.7 million people. In most cases, the change will likely be a gradual one rather than an immediate move from fully employer-paid health care to fully employee-paid health care. But, over time, companies around the country will probably reach the same endpoint that I did. It is far easier for a small business owner like me to make a drastic change than it is for a global corporation.

Free Checking - gone, thanks to the Donks
And the RINOs who voted for the "Financial Reform Bill", more appropriately known as the "Congress fucking things up worse Bill".
The more I read, the more convinced I am that it's going to take bloodshed to fix things.
Brain droppings
Og posted a video of the Rifleman's Creed from Full Metal Jacket. Which made me think about the entire scene where DI Hartman is introducing himself to the privates, and giving them names. Which made me remember my time at the 316th, when I had the Private Cowboy set as the opening sounds on my computer. I would come in, start up the computer, and for a minute be regaled by Gunny Hartman screaming at Private Cowboy.
Problem is, my commander, a sweet, tender woman who was younger than I was, came strolling into my office right about the time Gunny Hartman is referring to the best part of Private Cowboy.
She just kind of sloooooooowly backed out of the office and didn't come back till lunch.

VFW-PAC: Fired. Good.
When the political action committee refuses to advocate for their base, they deserve to get cut.
Now, as for the situational elements that led to the VFW-PAC endorsing a bunch of rat-fink Democrat traitors in the first place, well, THAT still needs to get fixed. But I'm glad to see someone losing their jobs over this.

Blog surfing
And finding THIS:
Read it all. And understand that without the repeal of Obamacare, it's only going to get worse.
I hate to say it, but I think know the healthcare system is going to implode on itself in the next 15 years (if that). There are way too many irresponsible people sapping the resources that the responsible people produce. Nobody cares about their health anymore, and the people that do are the ones paying out the ass for services that cost a truckload to compensate for the loss accrued by the irresponsible.
You may think that I’m blowing smoke out up your ass, but take a look around next time you are in a public place at the amount of morbidly obese people are mouth-breathing around. Look at their kids and the crap they stuff into their face at an alarming rate. Its not ignorance thats fueling this, its the simple fact that when push comes to shove they will get treatment without payment. We are afraid to say “You did this to yourself, you deal with it” because of some bullshit excuse like “its not their fault”. You may think that sounds uncaring and callous, but take a second out of your candyland outlook and look around you at the people who are pissing their health down the toilet on your dime just because they can.
Read it all. And understand that without the repeal of Obamacare, it's only going to get worse.
I've got nothing
I'm so damn tired I can't think straight. I should still be in bed, but I'm up taking care of crap that I can't take care of during the week because there's too much shit to do.
At some point, I'm going to take a vacation where I don't do a damn thing except sleep.

Sultry
Waaaaay back when your not-so-humble narrator was a young buck, I was helping a community theater celebrate their 25th anniversary. We were singing all the show tunes they had performed over the years with the different musicals from Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, South Pacific, yada yada yada. One of the songs was "Whatever Lola Wants" from Damn Yankess, and it was performed by a woman who had been with that theater for some time.
If you've ever done a show at a community theater, you'll know the type. Not old but not young, maybe in her thirties, has a family and kids, grew up acting and thinking she was going to be in Hollywood when she graduated but never quite got there. Not "pretty" enough to be in film, but more than pretty enough to be on stage. And she had talent.
I can't remember her name, but she would always come in dressed up in Midwest mother frumpy clothing. You could tell she had a figure, but she never put it on display.
And then the performance came. The guys did "Nothing like a Dame" from South Pacific. I did a duet with another woman, "Anything you can do" from Annie Get Your Gun, and then this woman walked on after us and transformed herself into a different creature. From the opening notes, she stopped walking, and damn near slithered up to the microphone, as if every joint in her body had just been given about two or three new directions they could bend. She didn't take the microphone, she just touched it with her fingers and leaned into it, with this come-hither smile on her face that made every guy in the place damn near jump out of their suits. Instead of tapping her toes or bobbing her head to the rhythm, she moved her hip. Just one. The other hip stayed firmly in place, which did all kinds of interesting things to her body. And when she sang the opening lines.... "Whatever Lola wants..... Lola gets....." every red-blooded man in that building would have begged her to want them, get them. It was like she wasn't forcing the notes out of her mouth, they just kind of fell out onto the microphone, pushed out by the sheer volume of sexiness that was contained in this one woman's body. It was a voice that promised every kind of pleasure under the sun, and even more under the moon, where you can shed the inhibitions that you normally hold on to.
This frumpy Midwest mom went from "Meh" to Aphrodite in about five seconds, and had every guy in the place eating from the palm of her hand, from the moment she first sang until she walked off stage, and probably well after that. And she did it dressed in a black skirt and a blouse that wasn't opened any further than the top of her cleavage. I think that might have been what convinced me that sex appeal has nothing to do with boobs or butts or revealing clothing. That woman, for three minutes, was the sexiest woman on the face of the earth, period, full stop, end of story. And it came from inside, not from her flashing skin.
The only close approximation I've been able to find for this woman is Sarah Vaughn. But even Sarah Vaughn can't match the sheer amount of pure sex appeal that this woman put into the song. Still.... don't watch the video, just close your eyes and listen to the song.
By the by, I was reminded of that woman at the theater because someone gave me a Sarah Vaughn CD, and when I heard the opening notes to "Lola Wants" come out of my little boombox at the shop I flashed back to her performance. Memory is a funny thing sometimes.

Horse Apples
I've been waiting a bit before I commented on the judge who ruled that Don't Ask Don't Tell was unconstitutional. I've pondered it a bit, I've scratched my chin, I've thought some more, and I keep coming to the same conclusion.
That judge is just another unelected, unaccountable black robed tyrant who issues judicial fiat like some aristocracy from years ago, and it's bullshit. Nobody has a Constitutional right to serve in the military. You have a Constitutional obligation to serve in the unregulated militia if called upon to do so. But serving in the military isn't a right.
And now some black robed tyrant is going to open up a whole can of worms for the US military, in the pursuit of political correctness. Hey, did anyone ask the military THEIR FUCKING OPINION? Well yes, but our opinion doesn't mean shit when it gets in the way of social policy, right? Fuck the military. Fuck the troops. They don't matter, they don't count, there's a social experiment to be performed! They should just shut up and do what they're told!
Oh, and by the way, I'll still get arrested if I try to shower with the females. But gay men can shower with me. Tell me, all you oh so tolerant people out there, is that fair? Is it fair that someone who is sexually attracted to men gets to see my naked ass, but I can't ogle the ladies? I mean, that's what this whole deal is about, right? FAIRNESS. It's not FAIR that homosexuals can't serve in the military. It's not FAIR that the military discriminates against gays. And people with bad eyesight, and people with bad hearing, and people who are overweight, and people who have significant medical problems, but all those other groups don't carry favorite victim status and so they don't really count on the FAIRNESS scale. What's next for the military? Seeing-eye dogs, so that blind folks can serve as well? Well no, that's ridiculous. But objecting to having to bunk with someone who's sexually attracted to men? OH MY GOD YOU HOMOPHOBIC BASTARD! YOU KNUCKLEDRAGGING REDNECK HILLBILLY!
It's bullshit. And it's going to cause more problems that it solves. But who cares, right? It's only the military, and they don't carry favorite victim status either.

Gallery. Opened.
Last night. It was a "soft" open, which means no ribbon cutting, no fanfare, no nekkid dancing women. That'll all come next month during the "grand" opening, which might be when Dave hits the champagne and dances around the gallery with a lampshade on his head.
In an artistic fashion.

Hey hey HEY!
I happen to like Pocatello! We don't need a bunch of hippies moving there and smelling the place up!
Morning Run
I had grown so accustomed to running in the afternoon that I forgot the solitude of a morning run at 0530. Nobody out on the road. No exhaust fumes. No cigarette smoke from people hanging out at bars, or blowing it out of their car window as you run by.
Just quiet. It was rather nice.
Granted, most days I need the run in the afternoon, just to burn off all the stored up energy from not choking the living shit out of certain people in my office. But still, it was a nice run this morning.

There's a reason we call them "Moonbats"
Rodger the Real King of France highlights this piece at the American Thinker by J.R. Dunn that is a patented "Must Read".
There's more, much more, and you need to read the whole thing. And then go buy ammo, because as much as I hope Dunn is correct, I can't say for sure that he is. The Socialist Utopia that the Left pines for will never come about, but history shows that the Left will continue killing people in their quest to make it happen.
Buy ammo. No, buy MORE ammo.
Leftists really believed that Obama embodied their moment. Obama held all the cards -- majorities in both houses, a slavish press that viewed him as no less than a godling, an enthusiastic public, even an acquiescent international establishment, overlooking a few holdouts such as Kim and Ahmadinejad. No left-of-center president has had a smoother road before him -- not FDR, not Lyndon Johnson. Yet Obama's efforts amount to utter failure -- not because of opposition from the "party of no," not because of circumstances, not because of sabotage, but because of Obama's "success" itself. He got the bills passed, guaranteed that their execution would be in the hands of extraconstitutional figures beholden only to him, and got them funded by means both legal and illegal. All of it was put into play with a smoothness that only Chicago thuggery combined with socialist chicanery could accomplish. He launched them, and they crashed, and they burned.
(.....)
But today they have a problem -- several, in point of fact. The first is that the memory hole has in large part been filled in over the past decade and a half by such things as the internet and the New Media. It's no longer a simple matter to shove nationwide failures out of sight. It may not even be possible.
The second is the fact that this time, they bet the house. They put everything down on Obama. Because it had to work. Because the third time was the charm. Because O was the messiah. And now they're sitting in the casino dead broke, without another dime to lay on the table, and through the doorway they can hear the shouts of the people whose money they embezzled.
There's more, much more, and you need to read the whole thing. And then go buy ammo, because as much as I hope Dunn is correct, I can't say for sure that he is. When you read just how many self identified Socialists are in our state governments, you're gonna lose your appetite. That's a list of people at the state level who have signed a letter supporting Obamacare.
