The failure of Holder’s DoJ to win anything more than a single conspiracy count against Ghailani as a result of using a process designed for domestic criminals than wartime enemies shows that the critics had it right all along. As I'm reading this, I've got ten thousand thoughts all jumping out of my head. Here's a few that I managed to grab before they flew away.
1 - This is about as negative a connotation on the female gender as you can really write, because the bottom line that comes bursting through is that women only care about power and money. Yes, yes, I know that only a small percentage of women are out there chasing congressmen, but still, it reinforces the perception.
2 - THIS IS WHY ETHICS AND MORALS MATTER. Well, it's one of the many reasons why. There will be a ton of temptations thrown at new members of congress in every direction. "Vote the way I want and your wife won't see these pictures, mkay?" "Vote the way I want and these photos of you and your mistress won't show up during your re-election campaign, got it?" A man who cheats on his wife probably can't be trusted in smaller matters. You can call that harsh, but if he'll break his oath to his spouse, he'll break his oath to you and anyone else.
There's only two or three paragraphs in that article, and in my mind they manage to encompass a huge amount of wrongness about D.C.
And while I was away, Charlie Rangle was convicted of 11 ethics charges. Yay! Of course, he'll be sentenced by other members of Congress, which means that he'll get to keep his job and maybe get a slap on the wrist, when any other American not politically connected would be sitting in jail.
Yay.
He should be expelled from Congress. Period. Of course, the longer he stays in, the longer we can talk about how such a corrupt worm is a proud member of the Democrat American Communist Party. So there's still a silver lining to that particular cloud.
Anyways, I'm back, and I'm catching up on the news. Oh, and the new TSA Guidelines? What a load of crap. What an absolute load of crap. I can't wait until I have some TSA person grabbing my junk in a laughable "search". And considering the sheer amount of flying I'll have to do? Maybe I'll start taking the train.
I don't know if there's anything that I can say to beat all the essays and speeches made by people far more verbose than me.
There's times when I have to travel in uniform, and I'm always at a loss of what to say when someone comes up to me and says "Thank You". I don't think I've done nearly enough to deserve that thanks, compared to so many of the people currently serving in all the branches of the military today. If you really want to thank a veteran, donate to Soldier's Angels, or the USO, or volunteer some time at the local VA hospital or airport USO. There's no better sight to a Soldier who's laid up at an airport for hours than the brightly lit open door of a USO. A cup of coffee and a PB&J sammich does wonders for a soul who's been on a plane for hours, and probably has more hours on a plane to look forward to.

For it to have had that many people, they would have had to be packed about 6.7 times more densely than the densest parts of the Beck crowd.

No, not for me. I still have quite a bit of time before that happens. But last Saturday, a rather prominent member of my unit retired, after 41 years of military service. Just stop and think about that. How many of the people reading this blog are younger than 41? This guy joined the military before you were born.
Forty one years. Four decades of military service. That just doesn't happen. But he's retired now, and working happily on his property, planning his hunt for next month.
Because this winter is going to get downright cold. To those of you in Florida, that should frighten you a bit. For those of us in more Northern climes, that should scare you shitless.

While League of Women Voters moderator Kathy Tate-Bradish began explaining the rules of the debate an audience member raised his hand and (when called upon) asked if they were going to start with the Pledge of Allegiance. When she said no, the audience booed and almost all in the crowd of more than 300 stood and enthusiastically recited it anyway. Tate-Bradish, who joined in the pledge, issued a scolding when the crowd finished saying they are not allowed to disrespect her.

They have no problem with advocating controversial positions, so long as those positions are Leftist in nature. Williams' mistake is that he said what a lot of normal, everyday Americans think. And NPR can't have that happening on their watch!
I would love to see NPR get de-funded. I hear George Soros is giving them a million dollars or something like that? He already funds Media Matters, and I don't see much difference between the two. Let Daddy George pay their bills.

Og posted a video of the Rifleman's Creed from Full Metal Jacket. Which made me think about the entire scene where DI Hartman is introducing himself to the privates, and giving them names. Which made me remember my time at the 316th, when I had the Private Cowboy set as the opening sounds on my computer. I would come in, start up the computer, and for a minute be regaled by Gunny Hartman screaming at Private Cowboy.
Problem is, my commander, a sweet, tender woman who was younger than I was, came strolling into my office right about the time Gunny Hartman is referring to the best part of Private Cowboy.
She just kind of sloooooooowly backed out of the office and didn't come back till lunch.
When the political action committee refuses to advocate for their base, they deserve to get cut.
Now, as for the situational elements that led to the VFW-PAC endorsing a bunch of rat-fink Democrat traitors in the first place, well, THAT still needs to get fixed. But I'm glad to see someone losing their jobs over this.
I hate to say it, but I think know the healthcare system is going to implode on itself in the next 15 years (if that). There are way too many irresponsible people sapping the resources that the responsible people produce. Nobody cares about their health anymore, and the people that do are the ones paying out the ass for services that cost a truckload to compensate for the loss accrued by the irresponsible.
You may think that I’m blowing smoke out up your ass, but take a look around next time you are in a public place at the amount of morbidly obese people are mouth-breathing around. Look at their kids and the crap they stuff into their face at an alarming rate. Its not ignorance thats fueling this, its the simple fact that when push comes to shove they will get treatment without payment. We are afraid to say “You did this to yourself, you deal with it” because of some bullshit excuse like “its not their fault”. You may think that sounds uncaring and callous, but take a second out of your candyland outlook and look around you at the people who are pissing their health down the toilet on your dime just because they can.

Waaaaay back when your not-so-humble narrator was a young buck, I was helping a community theater celebrate their 25th anniversary. We were singing all the show tunes they had performed over the years with the different musicals from Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma, South Pacific, yada yada yada. One of the songs was "Whatever Lola Wants" from Damn Yankess, and it was performed by a woman who had been with that theater for some time.
If you've ever done a show at a community theater, you'll know the type. Not old but not young, maybe in her thirties, has a family and kids, grew up acting and thinking she was going to be in Hollywood when she graduated but never quite got there. Not "pretty" enough to be in film, but more than pretty enough to be on stage. And she had talent.
I can't remember her name, but she would always come in dressed up in Midwest mother frumpy clothing. You could tell she had a figure, but she never put it on display.
And then the performance came. The guys did "Nothing like a Dame" from South Pacific. I did a duet with another woman, "Anything you can do" from Annie Get Your Gun, and then this woman walked on after us and transformed herself into a different creature. From the opening notes, she stopped walking, and damn near slithered up to the microphone, as if every joint in her body had just been given about two or three new directions they could bend. She didn't take the microphone, she just touched it with her fingers and leaned into it, with this come-hither smile on her face that made every guy in the place damn near jump out of their suits. Instead of tapping her toes or bobbing her head to the rhythm, she moved her hip. Just one. The other hip stayed firmly in place, which did all kinds of interesting things to her body. And when she sang the opening lines.... "Whatever Lola wants..... Lola gets....." every red-blooded man in that building would have begged her to want them, get them. It was like she wasn't forcing the notes out of her mouth, they just kind of fell out onto the microphone, pushed out by the sheer volume of sexiness that was contained in this one woman's body. It was a voice that promised every kind of pleasure under the sun, and even more under the moon, where you can shed the inhibitions that you normally hold on to.
This frumpy Midwest mom went from "Meh" to Aphrodite in about five seconds, and had every guy in the place eating from the palm of her hand, from the moment she first sang until she walked off stage, and probably well after that. And she did it dressed in a black skirt and a blouse that wasn't opened any further than the top of her cleavage. I think that might have been what convinced me that sex appeal has nothing to do with boobs or butts or revealing clothing. That woman, for three minutes, was the sexiest woman on the face of the earth, period, full stop, end of story. And it came from inside, not from her flashing skin.
The only close approximation I've been able to find for this woman is Sarah Vaughn. But even Sarah Vaughn can't match the sheer amount of pure sex appeal that this woman put into the song. Still.... don't watch the video, just close your eyes and listen to the song.
By the by, I was reminded of that woman at the theater because someone gave me a Sarah Vaughn CD, and when I heard the opening notes to "Lola Wants" come out of my little boombox at the shop I flashed back to her performance. Memory is a funny thing sometimes.
I've been waiting a bit before I commented on the judge who ruled that Don't Ask Don't Tell was unconstitutional. I've pondered it a bit, I've scratched my chin, I've thought some more, and I keep coming to the same conclusion.
That judge is just another unelected, unaccountable black robed tyrant who issues judicial fiat like some aristocracy from years ago, and it's bullshit. Nobody has a Constitutional right to serve in the military. You have a Constitutional obligation to serve in the unregulated militia if called upon to do so. But serving in the military isn't a right.
And now some black robed tyrant is going to open up a whole can of worms for the US military, in the pursuit of political correctness. Hey, did anyone ask the military THEIR FUCKING OPINION? Well yes, but our opinion doesn't mean shit when it gets in the way of social policy, right? Fuck the military. Fuck the troops. They don't matter, they don't count, there's a social experiment to be performed! They should just shut up and do what they're told!
Oh, and by the way, I'll still get arrested if I try to shower with the females. But gay men can shower with me. Tell me, all you oh so tolerant people out there, is that fair? Is it fair that someone who is sexually attracted to men gets to see my naked ass, but I can't ogle the ladies? I mean, that's what this whole deal is about, right? FAIRNESS. What's next for the military? Seeing-eye dogs, so that blind folks can serve as well? Well no, that's ridiculous. But objecting to having to bunk with someone who's sexually attracted to men? OH MY GOD YOU HOMOPHOBIC BASTARD! YOU KNUCKLEDRAGGING REDNECK HILLBILLY!

Last night. It was a "soft" open, which means no ribbon cutting, no fanfare, no nekkid dancing women. That'll all come next month during the "grand" opening, which might be when Dave hits the champagne and dances around the gallery with a lampshade on his head.
I had grown so accustomed to running in the afternoon that I forgot the solitude of a morning run at 0530. Nobody out on the road. No exhaust fumes. No cigarette smoke from people hanging out at bars, or blowing it out of their car window as you run by.
Just quiet. It was rather nice.
Granted, most days I need the run in the afternoon, just to burn off all the stored up energy from not choking the living shit out of certain people in my office. But still, it was a nice run this morning.

Like a lot of them, they had voted for it, but hadn’t read it. That was a mistake, sure, but the thing is over 2000 pages, right? Well, after admitting they didn’t read the bill they are told in a laughing way mind you, “That’s ok – neither has the president, so you can’t expect him to take on a bunch of town meetings on it, right?” So that was it. Now, I want you to think about how much power this bill has, and how much it will affect Americans. And the people responsible for it, and the damned jackass who signed it, didn't even bother to read it.
I think that anyone who had a hand in the passing of Obamacare who didn't read the bill needs to be tarred, feathered, ridden out of town on a rail, banned from politics at any level, and jailed for no less than ten years. We had warning of a hard freeze last night, so yesterday afternoon the Ragin' Mrs. and I spent a good portion of time pulling in everything from the garden that we could harvest. Tomatos, squash, beans, and herbs. We'd been harvesting and drying them for a little while, but yesterday we pulled everything we could out of the garden before the frost killed it. So I currently have hanging in my kitchen some thyme, oregano, rosemary, dill, and two huge bunches of sage.
We also racked our batch of mead - meaning we transferred it from it's primary fermentation container to it's secondary fermentation container, where it will sit for about a month until it's ready to bottle. As we were transferring it over, we tested it with a hydrometer to make sure of where the alcohol levels were at - it's approximately 15%, which is about where you want it to be. But it's still sweet like mead should be; while we were working with it we could smell it; it was like ripe apples. Good stuff.
And then I got to watch the Packers barely beat the Lions, while my Seahawks were getting assraped by St. Louis.
The Democrats don't care. Congresscritters and their families get a gold-standard health care package, paid for by the rubes and idiots who keep voting them in. Remember, forcing people to depend on the government is the GOAL of Obamacare, not an "unintended consequence".
We're putting the artist studio up and running. It was supposed to be open yesterday, but we just didn't have the people or the time to put it together. We have to build tables, displays, etc. etc. etc., do some painting, and various other tasks that nobody ever thinks about.

I remember a while ago reading Francis Porretto discuss how a citizen's submission to the rule of law is the alternative to violence, and if the rule of law fails, a citizen's recourse is ........ violence in some form or another.
At this point, I'm feeling very, very violent. SEIU, ACORN and Houston Votes need to be beaten. Physically. Until dead. And then maybe people might just get the idea that you don't commit vote fraud.

My football dream would be to have Boise State and TCU playing in the BSC Championship game, while all the big conferences are on the outside looking in, a victim of the system that they designed to keep teams like Boise State and TCU out. The BCS system is a giant crock of shit, and too many of the big conference teams refuse to play someone like BSU or TCU because they're afraid of getting their ass whupped. But their conferences don't force them to play BSU or TCU, so they get to sit back and smugly talk about how those teams couldn't POSSIBLY win in their conference.
Bull. Shite. BSU has put the offer out - they'll play anyone, anytime, on that team's home turf. And whoever accepts their offer doesn't even have to schedule a game at Boise, which is a normal concession in scheduling these games. You know how many big teams have taken them up on it? Zero. You want to know why? Because the big teams know that Boise State could kick their ass.
