Internet reports mock 'Birthers' who want constitutional proof

Basically this article calls those of us who indeed want to know if Obama is eligible to hold the office of President of the United States of America are

"conspiracy theorists, including the following: embarrassing, destructive, crazy, nutburger, demagogue, money-hungry, exploitative, irresponsible, filthy conservative imposters, the worst enemy of the conservative movement, weird, demented, sick, troubled and not suitable for civilized company."

Politico's coverage of the questions that still linger over Obama's birth, however, is far from kind.

"Viewed as irrelevant by the White House, and as embarrassing by much of the Republican Party," writes Politico blogger Ben Smith, "the subculture still thrives from the conservative website WorldNetDaily, which claims that some 300,000 people have signed a petition demanding more information on Obama's birth."

Smith then states unequivocally that there is no basis for questioning Obama's eligibility, that Obama "was in fact born in Honolulu in 1961" and that "long-settled law" resolves his dual citizenship at birth, another fount of legal questions surrounding the sitting president's eligibility to serve in the Oval Office. Smith cites Hawaii officials who have testified that there do exist records – though unreleased to the public or the courts – verifying Obama's American birth.

s part of the case, a subpoena was served on Occidental College for its records. School officials immediately contacted lawyers for Obama and said the demand would have to be answered unless they intervened.

Obama's lawyers then submitted a demand to the court arguing the case was moot because the election was over and the correct place to resolve such concerns was in Congress. The lawyers also alleged a variety of procedural errors.

In his response, Kreep pointed out that Obama's lawyers failed for 27 days to notify the USJF of alleged procedural errors. He said the housing and academic records are of prime importance.

"From those records, statements as to whether MR. OBAMA is, indeed, a 'natural born citizen' may be found," he said.

At the end of February, at least two active-duty soldiers serving in Iraq as well as a retired major general offered to be plaintiffs in a lawsuit challenging Obama's eligibility.

WND reported earlier when 1st Lt. Scott Easterling confirmed to Orly Taitz that he wanted to be a plaintiff in the legal action she is preparing on behalf of members of the U.S. military, both active and retired. A second soldier who asked that his name be withheld for now became part of the action a day later.

Then retired Maj. Gen. Carroll D. Childers submitted a statement to Taitz and her DefendOurFreedoms.us website, agreeing to be a plaintiff in her pending action.

Taitz explained the issue isn't resolved as many Obama supporters claim.

The "Certification of Live Birth" posted on the Internet actually doesn't confirm a birth location, she said.

"[Hawaii] statute 138 allows foreign born children of HI residents to get HI [Certificates of Live Birth] and get them based on a statement of one relative only," she said.

She also said Hawaiian officials, while they confirmed a birth certificate exists, did not exclude the possibility it was "one obtained for a foreign born child."

She also cited Obama's immigration to Indonesia at age 5, when he was considered an Indonesian citizen.

Although Obama officials have told WND all such allegations are "garbage," here is a partial listing and status update for some of the cases over Obama's eligibility:

• New Jersey attorney Mario Apuzzo has filed a case on behalf of Charles Kerchner and others alleging Congress didn't properly ascertain that Obama is qualified to hold the office of president.


• Pennsylvania Democrat Philip Berg has three cases pending, including Berg vs. Obama in the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, a separate Berg vs. Obama which is under seal at the U.S. District Court level and Hollister vs. Soetoro a/k/a Obama, brought on behalf of a retired military member who could be facing recall to active duty by Obama.
  
  
• Leo Donofrio of New Jersey filed a lawsuit claiming Obama's dual citizenship disqualified him from serving as president. His case was considered in conference by the U.S. Supreme Court but denied a full hearing.


• Cort Wrotnowski filed suit against Connecticut's secretary of state, making a similar argument to Donofrio. His case was considered in conference by the U.S. Supreme Court, but was denied a full hearing.


• Former presidential candidate Alan Keyes headlines a list of people filing a suit in California, in a case handled by the United States Justice Foundation, that asks the secretary of state to refuse to allow the state's 55 Electoral College votes to be cast in the 2008 presidential election until Obama verifies his eligibility to hold the office. The case is pending, and lawyers are seeking the public's support.


• Chicago attorney Andy Martin sought legal action requiring Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle to release Obama's vital statistics record. The case was dismissed by Hawaii Circuit Court Judge Bert Ayabe.
  
  
• Lt. Col. Donald Sullivan sought a temporary restraining order to stop the Electoral College vote in North Carolina until Barack Obama's eligibility could be confirmed, alleging doubt about Obama's citizenship. His case was denied.
  
  
• In Ohio, David M. Neal sued to force the secretary of state to request documents from the Federal Elections Commission, the Democratic National Committee, the Ohio Democratic Party and Obama to show the presidential candidate was born in Hawaii. The case was denied.
  
  
• In Washington state, Steven Marquis sued the secretary of state seeking a determination on Obama's citizenship. The case was denied.
  
  
• In Georgia, Rev. Tom Terry asked the state Supreme Court to authenticate Obama's birth certificate. His request for an injunction against Georgia's secretary of state was denied by Georgia Superior Court Judge Jerry W. Baxter.


• California attorney Orly Taitz has brought a case, Lightfoot vs. Bowen, on behalf of Gail Lightfoot, the vice presidential candidate on the ballot with Ron Paul, four electors and two registered voters.

In addition, other cases cited on the RightSideofLife blog as raising questions about Obama's eligibility include:

WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi had gone to both Kenya and Hawaii prior to the election to investigate issues surrounding Obama's birth. But his research and discoveries only raised more questions, the biggest being why, if there exists documentation of Obama's eligibility, hasn't it been released to quell the rumors.

Instead, a series of law firms have been hired on Obama's behalf around the nation to prevent any public access to his birth certificate, passport records, college records and other documents.

Mass. healthcare reform is failing us

MASSACHUSETTS HAS been lauded for its healthcare reform, but the program is a failure. Created solely to achieve universal insurance coverage, the plan does not even begin to address the other essential components of a successful healthcare system.

What would such a system provide? The prestigious Institute of Medicine, part of the National Academy of Sciences, has defined five criteria for healthcare reform. Coverage should be: universal, not tied to a job, affordable for individuals and families, affordable for society, and it should provide access to high-quality care for everyone. The state's plan flunks on all counts. First, it has not achieved universal healthcare, although the reform has been a boon to the private insurance industry. The state has more than 200,000 without coverage, and the count can only go up with rising unemployment.

The article covers many instances where people had to give up treatment due to lack of affordability and then goes on to tout that we need to go off of the Medicaid model and improve and expand it. I call B.S. If we do what is suggested in this article all of the good medical practitioners will be gone. They will not be able to afford to keep their doors open, and what they are allowed to do by Medicaid rules is so limiting that it is not health care. The rules basically have a criteria that requires you to follow it and if your patient is outside the norms no additional tests can be run because there is nothing to qualify them. It is very inhuman. It is like asking an accountant to run the purchases for a kitchen. They will buy the cheapest items available, but they most likely will not do the job well or for long.

Obama's Next Big Battle: Affordable Health Care

Obama is asking for $634 billion in his new budget to be put aside over the next 10 years as a sort of health care fund. He says some of the money will come from taxing the wealthy and through trimming the fat in current government programs like Medicare and Medicaid.

The budget calls for also taking, over 10 years, $175 billion in fees that the government now pays insurance companies to cover more than 10 million people in private Medicare. The administration has said that that such private plans cost 14 percent more than traditional Medicare.

In his weekly video address Saturday, Obama acknowledged that "the insurance industry won't like the idea that they'll have to bid competitively to continue offering Medicare coverage, but that's how we'll help preserve and protect Medicare and lower health care costs for American families."

Others that might suffer under his budget include hospitals, drug makers and home health services. All have powerful lobbying groups.

The ambitious plan comes during the worst economic crisis this country has seen in a generation. Health care reform wasn't achievable in even the best of times. Now, it could be that much harder.

What is not being said is that Medicare and Medicaid are hardly accepted because they do not even cover the providers costs. He talks about hospitals, drug makers and home health having powerful lobbying groups, the reality is that hospitals have to treat whom ever comes into the Emergency Room, Drug companies spend millions trying to formulate new drugs, many of which never make it through the trials, and home health is a lot cheaper than nursing homes. People who have no health insurance can go to county or urgency care clinics and emergency rooms if they need. They will not be turned away for inability to pay. There is no reality hear. We will see socialized health care that no one wants.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, attending an international conference here to raise funds for the Gaza Strip, will also announce $600 million in assistance to the Palestinian Authority, which is controlled by Fatah, a rival of Hamas that is dominant in the West Bank.

Could someone--preferably Pelosi and Reid, who apparently think they know better than we do--explain to us stupid common little people how and why changing that plant from one fossil fuel to another is supposed to be a "green" improvement? If it burns natural gas, it still emits "greenhouse gases" in the form of CO2 and other emissions. Why not go instead with a small self-contained nuclear reactor, or better yet windmills or heat turbines feeding off the hot air emanating nearby?

Uncertainty over new health safety net for jobless

WASHINGTON – The Obama administration rushed to include a health care safety net for laid-off workers in the recently signed stimulus bill, but has not told employers exactly how to make it work.

As a result, tens of thousands of jobless people could wait months before getting help paying for health insurance that their employers previously had covered.

Almost every day brings another "multibillion-dollar government spending plan being proposed or even worse, passed," said Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., who gave the GOP's weekly address.

He said Obama is pushing "the single largest increase in federal spending in the history of the United States, while driving the deficit to levels that were once thought impossible."

"Given this reality, we'll have to be more vigilant than ever in eliminating the programs we don't need in order to make room for the investments we do need," he said.

He said a page-by-page examination of the federal budget had already identified $2 trillion in potential savings over 10 years.

"I realize that passing this budget won't be easy," Obama said. "Because it represents real and dramatic change, it also represents a threat to the status quo in Washington."

A couple of years ago, I would have laughed this thing out of the water. And damn near every record in Obama's past is sealed. Selective Service records? Sealed. College records? Sealed. Go down the list and you'll see that Obama never opened up anything that might shed more light on his past.

Good news about Iraq

The combat withdrawal will take three months longer than he promised. It is now be to completed by the end of August 2010, 19 months after Obama's inauguration. Though what Obama emphasized most as a candidate was his determination to bring about a quick end to the war, in the fine print of almost all his statements was a twin commitment to flexibility. One administration official said Obama was never wedded to the timeline encased in his overall public pledge.

_The withdrawal will not happen at an even pace of one combat brigade per month, as he had repeatedly said. Instead, it will be backloaded, so that the force posture for this year and into the first few months of 2010 likely will be essentially the same as it would have been under Bush. Under Obama's plan, troops will start leaving in large numbers probably only next spring or summer, though the president intends to leave the pacing decisions up to field commanders.

_Even after the combat drawdown, a very large force of as many as 50,000 troops will remain — an element of the withdrawal strategy that has caused heartache among anti-war Democrats who wanted a fuller pullout.

This residual force will have a new mission, of training Iraqis, protecting U.S. assets and personnel, and conducting anti-terror operations. While those are technically noncombat tasks, the soldiers and Marines will remain in harm's way and engage at times in some form of fighting.

Understanding how Obama, his aides and his generals came to this plan must start with how the candidate arrived at his campaign promise.

I read this and was immediately excited. It means that we are actually *supporting* Iraq instead of *abandoning* them. That this is being done despite the uproar from the Leftists makes it all the sweeter.

Chicago Man Arrested for Allegedly Targeting Obama With HIV-Infected Blood

A man from President Obama's hometown of Chicago has been arrested for allegedly sending Obama and his staff envelopes containing HIV-infected blood, in the hopes of killing or harming them.

It's only the second time ever that HIV-infected blood has been sent with malicious intent through the U.S. mail system, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service said.

In the weeks leading up to Obama's inauguration, Saad Hussein, an Ethiopian refugee in his late 20s, sent an envelope addressed to "Barack Obama" to offices of the Illinois government in Springfield, Ill., according to court documents.

The envelope contained a series of curious items, including a letter with reddish stains and an admission ticket for Obama's election-night celebration in Chicago's Grant Park. Court documents said Hussein, who takes drugs to treat a mental illness, later told FBI agents he is "very sick with HIV" and cut his fingers with a razor so he could bleed on the letter.

Hussein, with his brother acting as an interpreter, told FBI agents he was actually "an admirer" of Obama and was "seeking help from the government," according to court documents. He also told them he was hoping to obtain tickets to the Inaugural ceremonies in Washington, the documents said.

Days after sending the letter to Obama, Hussein allegedly placed two more letters in the mail, one addressed to "Emanuel," an apparent reference to Obama's current Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel. The two letters contained what appeared to be dried blood, the court documents said.

The United States has decided not to participate in a U.N. conference on racism in April unless the final document is changed to drop all references to Israel and its criticism of religion, a senior U.S. official said Friday.

The conference is a follow-up to the contentious 2001 conference in the South African city of Durban which was dominated by clashes over the Middle East and the legacy of slavery. The U.S. and Israel walked out midway through that eight-day meeting over a draft resolution that singled out Israel for criticism and likened Zionism — the movement to establish and maintain a Jewish state — to racism.

Israel and Canada have already announced that they will boycott the upcoming World Conference Against Racism in Geneva from April 20-25, known as Durban II, but President Barack Obama's administration decided to assess the negotiations before making a decision on U.S. participation.

Last week, the State Department sent two U.S. representatives to Geneva, where the final document to be issued by conference participants at the end of the conference is being negotiated, the U.S. officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not yet been made.

The Obama administration would reconsider its position if the document improves in a number of areas including dropping references to any specific country, references to defamation of religion which the U.S. views as a free speech issue, and language on reparations for slavery. It also wants a shorter text and does not want the final document for Durban II to reaffirm the final document from the 2001 Durban conference, the U.S. official said.

Republicans set course in Congress budget battle

WASHINGTON, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Top Republicans charged President Barack Obama with driving the United States toward socialism on Friday, opening an ideological attack on his big spending plans.

While the tough rhetoric was certain to rev up hard-line Republicans -- many of whom regard "socialism" as anathema to American life -- it was unclear how much it would change the debate in the Democratic-led Congress, which begins hearings next week on Obama's $3.55 trillion budget proposal.

John Boehner, Republican leader in the House of Representatives, on Friday called Obama's new budget proposal and recently passed economic stimulus plan "one big down payment on a new American socialist experiment."

Obama's budget proposal increases taxes on the wealthiest Americans to pay for more government attention to healthcare, education, climate change and social programs along with efforts to jolt the economy out of a deepening recession.

The budget also forecasts the biggest U.S. deficit ever at $1.75 trillion, adding to widespread sticker shock in Congress where Democrats already pushed through Obama's $787 billion economic stimulus package with just three Republicans votes in the in the 100-seat Senate.

"The problem for Obama is more a question of whether the increased government intervention actually works -- gets the economy moving, creates the sense, within the next year-plus, that we are turning the corner," said Norm Ornstein, a congressional scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.

"The second question is whether he can keep his own Democrats together behind his tax plan and his budget hopes," Ornstein said.

Court: Va. man owns 1776 copy of Declaration

A rare 1776 copy of the Declaration of Independence belongs to a Virginia technology entrepreneur, not the state of Maine, the Virginia Supreme Court ruled Friday. Richard Adams Jr. of Fairfax County purchased the document from a London book dealer in 2001 for $475,000. But the state of Maine claimed it belongs to the town of Wiscasset, where it was kept by the town clerk in 1776.

Virginia's high court said that a lower court did not err in its ruling in Adams' favor because Maine didn't prove the document was ever an official town record and that Adams had superior title to the print.

Adams' attorney, Robert K. Richardson, has argued that Wiscasset's town clerk copied the text of the Declaration of Independence into the town's record books on Nov. 10, 1776. It's that transcription, not the document upon which it was based, that is the official town record, Richardson said.

"The fact that the print was not made by an authorized public officer and was not intended to be the official memorial of the Declaration precluded the print from qualifying as a 'public record' under common law," the court said in its ruling.

The Obama administration will seek to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 during the Bush administration, Attorney General Eric Holder said today.

"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Holder told reporters.

Yep. All you "gun toting Democrats"? Yeah. Fuck you, you worthless, brainless, gullible pieces of shit. You voted the most anti-gun president into office. Congratulations. You know what? For that kind of stupidity, you deserve to have your guns taken away. Hell, you deserve to have anything with sharp or pointy edges to be taken away, because you're obviously too fucking dumb to take care of yourself around them.

Holder said that putting the ban back in place would not only be a positive move by the United States, it would help cut down on the flow of guns going across the border into Mexico, which is struggling with heavy violence among drug cartels along the border.

Right, because all those RPG's, grenades, and automatic rifles are just selling like hotcakes in the USA, despite it being illegal for the average citizen to buy or sell them. But dem Mexicans are snapping them up, right?

"Some recent Mexican army and police confrontations with drug cartels have resembled small-unit combat, with cartels employing automatic weapons and grenades," the warning said. "Large firefights have taken place in many towns and cities across Mexico, but most recently in northern Mexico, including Tijuana, Chihuahua City and Ciudad Juarez."

(These were the proposals which Allard’s staff had time to analyze before the GOP leadership asked him to offer the amendment on the floor.) Many of the aliens are residents of Michoacan, Mexico. Four live in Illinois, one resides in Georgia and another in Michigan. All of the plaintiffs currently living in the U.S. listed pseudonyms in the lawsuit due to "fear of adverse action based on immigration status."

Ten of the illegal alien plaintiffs didn't show up to the trial, but the remaining six said they were given permission to re-enter the United States and testify against Barnett.

"That was a shocker to me. All the ones who testified said that they were here legally and that their attorneys had done the paperwork," Hardy said. "There's nothing like your government backing you."

MALDEF claimed the family attacked, harassed, threatened and held the illegals against their will, because they were motivated by racial and class-based discrimination. The complaint said the Barnetts allegedly caused the group "severe emotional and mental distress," including fear, anxiety, humiliation, stress, frustration and sadness. Each illegal alien sued for $1 million in actual damages and $1 million for punitive or exemplary damages.

The rancher was held liable for limited damages involving assault and emotional distress. Two illegal aliens were given $1,000 plus $10,000 in punitive damages each. Two more received $7,500, plus $20,000 in punitive damages each.

"It's interesting since most of them don't speak English, but they claim that Roger, who has almost no command of Spanish, was able to use full sentences like, 'If you go, my dog is hungry, and he's hungry for your butt,'" Hardy said. "Roger couldn't put that sentence together."

He said the judge left out one part of instruction to the jury that should have been included, and it will be the basis of their appeal.

"The law is skeptical of infliction of emotional distress because everybody gets their feelings hurt at times," he said. "So one of the requirements was that whatever is done must be so severe that the average person would be physically disabled by the distress – suffer a complete mental breakdown. The judge wouldn't put that in the instruction. That's straight Arizona law."

Also, two of the plaintiffs received $1,400, and two were awarded $1 each for assault. The term "assault" is legally applied when a person has simply put someone in fear of a harmful contact. According to the attorney, Barnett did carry a gun, but the judge did not include their self-defense argument in the instructions to the jury – another basis for appeal.

All together, the illegals received only $77,804 of the $32 million they requested – and Hardy believes that award will be thrown out in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

"It was 95 percent victory for us," he said. "What they really wanted were the first two civil rights claims because if they got those, they got attorney's fees. With nine attorneys working on the case, I'm sure their fees were $500,000 to $1 million."

The CDC breakdown shows that 85 percent of all reported cases of HIV infection were in large U.S. metropolitan areas, up from 82 percent in 2007.

The article goes on to breathlessly talk about how there is no cure, and only a cocktail of drugs can keep a person alive, and how it's transmitted (blood, semen, breast milk) yada yada yada yada yada.

Let's cut to the chase here, shall we? Because I'm absolutely tired of the canard that "AIDS is an 'equal opportunity' killer". I'm tired of having leftists spout off about how anyone can get AIDS, and how we need to spend X amount of dollars to find a cure.

Bullshit.

That's right, I said bullshit. And if you have a loved one dying of AIDS and you're upset with me right now, I'm sorry, but still BULLSHIT. How do you get AIDS? It's either blood to blood contact, or promiscuous sexual behavior. The rates of transmittal through blood transfusions right now is so low as to be damn near impossible. The transmittal from mother to child is also so low as to be negligible. So who are our AIDS "victims"? People who engage in that high risk behavior which is already known to transmit not only AIDS but a host of other diseases as well.

Intravenous drug use such as heroin or morphine. Promiscuous and unsafe sexual behavior. Can anyone else tell me how else AIDS gets spread? No? I didn't think so. So the current crop of AIDS victims are either people who like to shoot up drugs, (or used to do so), or people who sleep around, don't use condoms, can't keep it in their pants, etc. etc etc. Both of these behaviors are the fault of the people committing them. AIDS cannot be transmitted via air. It's not airborne. AIDS can rarely be transmitted by being left on a surface somewhere. It can be killed by a simple mixture of five parts water to one part bleach. In fact, outside of the human body, the AIDS virus or HIV virus is quite easy to kill.

So why does it keep spreading? It is entirely due to the actions people take to subsequently infect themselves with it. Yes, I said infect themselves with it. Don't have unprotected sex with strangers? You won't get AIDS. Don't shoot up with illegal drugs? You won't get AIDS.

I say fuck finding a cure for AIDS. Let's take all that money we're wasting on AIDS drugs and find a cure for cancer. You want to know why? Because there are KIDS out there dying of cancer right now. Children who didn't engage in risky sexual behavior or IV drug use, who are nonetheless dying of cancer that they did nothing to bring on. There are people who don't smoke, don't drink, and live a good life who get struck down with cancer. Why? I don't know. Hell, the doctors don't know. Nobody knows. So lets spend money to find a cure for that, and stop wasting money on a disease that would go away if people would stop shooting up and keep their pants on.

But you know what? If that happens, then why don't we prosecute the AIDS carrier for murder or attempted murder and lock their ass in jail? If someone at a hospital contracts AIDS because some raving drug-addicted lunatic fucks themselves up and needs to get patched, and can't bother to take his heroin needles out of his pocket before he comes in, let's place the blame where it belongs - on the drug user!

Conwell-Egan students turned a cafeteria into a shopping wonderland Wednesday evening.

High school students in Bucks County who refused to let the economy ruin their prom turned a cafeteria into a shopping wonderland Wednesday evening.

Two best friends at Conwell-Egan High School decided to take matters into their own hands.

"They were actually going to change our prom into a semi-formal which would make us not be able to wear normal gowns because of the economic crisis," organizer Alyssa Slemmer explained.

Slemmer and junior classmate Keri Richards solicited local clothing stores who donated nearly 200 dresses.

New dresses are being sold for at least 50 percent off, while previously worn gowns are going for even cheaper.

"It goes to tuition assistance because a lot of us know girls and guys that are going here on tuition assistance that can't afford to come here and this money is going to benefit them," Richards said.

There is a full catalog of affordable gowns and accessories that are available in what is being called "Cinderella's Closet."

"The girls thought if they had this sale, then it would get the school to change their mind because they were saving money and it worked," teacher Peg Cargan said.

Conwell-Egan's junior prom is in March, but they intend to open up "Cinderella's Closet" for other schools and students this spring.

They are planning on opening Cinderella's Closet for other schools as well.

NYU Students Barricaded Up To Protest Budget

The group inside is a coalition who call themselves "Take Back NYU." Members pushed tables and chairs against doors, and the group has a live webcam posted on its Web site.

"[We want the school to] establish new programs that encourage social and environmental responsibility," one student said via the webcam.

The group held a news conference late Thursday afternoon.

Their demands include full budget and endowment disclosure, affordable education, and increased student participation in the university's operation.

"Most important to me is the budget demands," student Jane Bird said. "I think it's gotten out of hand at this point."

There are also other demands that don't concern the budget. The group wants 13 scholarships a year provided for students of the Gaza Strip, and to give surplus supplies to the Islamic university in Gaza.

The reality, from my viewpoint is that this whole thing was really about getting scholarships for Gaza Strip students. I believe the rest of the demands were just thrown in to add legitimacy to their cause. They have not a clue as to the wrath they are asking for upon themselves and our country with such action.

Congress has finalized the $787 billion economic recovery plan. Here's a look at some of the provisions geared at financial relief for individuals.

I have cut a lot out of this, only leaving the information that I find interesting. For more details read the article.

Making Work Pay Credit: The bill provides a credit equal to 6.2% of earnings up to $400 per person (up to $800 per couples who file jointly).Estimated cost: $116 billion.

One-time payments to those who don't work: Estimated cost: $14.2 billion.

Break for higher income families: The bill includes a one-year provision to protect middle- and upper-middle-income families from having to pay the Alternative Minimum Tax. The AMT was intended primarily for high-income taxpayers but has in recent years threatened to engulf those lower down the income scale. Estimated cost: $70 billion.

Temporary deduction for car buyers: The bill would let those who buy a new car, light vehicle, recreational vehicle or motorcycle in 2009 deduct state and local sales taxes as well as any excise tax charged in the purchase. The deduction would be available to those earning less than $125,000 ($250,000 for joint filers). It will be an above-the-line deduction, meaning even taxpayers who don't itemize may take it in addition to the standard deduction. Estimated cost: $1.7 billion.

Even RV's? I see no specifications that it has to be American made. What sense is this?

Temporary credit for home buyers: The bill increases the size of an existing temporary and refundable first-time home buyer credit to $8,000, up from $7,500. It also removes the requirement under current law that the credit be paid back if the buyer stays in the home for at least three years. And it would extend the credit's expiration date to Dec. 1, 2009, from July 1. Those eligible for this credit must have purchased a home after Jan. 1, 2009, and before Dec. 1, 2009.

The full credit is available to those making $75,000 or less ($150,000 for joint filers). Estimated cost: $6.6 billion.

I actually do think this is a good idea. I have mixed feelings about the forgiveness if you stay in the house for 3 years. It is basically an interest free loan.

New temporary college credit: Estimated cost: $13.9 billion.

Temporary Pell Grant increase: Estimated cost: $15.6 billion.

Temporary expansion of child tax credit: Estimated cost: $14.8 billion.

Temporary increase in earned income tax credit: Estimated cost: $4.6 billion.

Direct lifeline benefits

Health insurance help for the jobless: The bill includes provisions to help eligible jobless workers pay for health insurance under Cobra. Cobra coverage allows newly unemployed workers to keep health insurance provided by their former employers for a period of time.

For workers who have been laid off between Sept. 1, 2008, and Dec. 31, 2009, the government will subsidize 65% of their premiums under Cobra for up to 9 months.

Those people laid off between Sept. 1, 2008, and the day the stimulus law goes into effect, and who did not sign up for Cobra, will get an additional 60 days to do so and receive the subsidy.

The subsidy will be limited to those whose income for the year is $125,000 or less ($250,000 for couples filing jointly). Estimated cost: $24.7 billion.

Another provision provides states funding to help pay for expanded Medicaid rolls for workers who've lost their jobs and can't afford health care on their own or can't get Cobra coverage because their former employer doesn't offer a health care plan. Estimated cost: $87 billion.

Unemployment benefits: The bill provides jobless workers with an additional 20 weeks in unemployment benefits, and 13 weeks on top of that if they live in what's deemed a high unemployment state, of which there are now about 30. Estimated cost: $27 billion.

In addition, the weekly unemployment benefit will temporarily increase by $25 on top of the roughly $300 jobless workers currently receive. Estimated cost: $8.8 billion.

Plus, the first $2,400 of benefits in 2009 would be exempt from federal income taxes. Estimated cost: $4.7 billion.

Food stamp payments: The bill includes a provision would increase food stamp payments by 13.6%, Estimated cost: $19.9 billion.

The bill also provides assistance to help local groups providing food and shelter, elderly nutrition services such as Meals on Wheels, and a program to help food banks re-stock their shelves. Estimated cost: $350 million.

Other help for needy families: Estimated cost: $2.4 billion.

California Senate approves long-awaited budget

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The California Senate has approved a long-awaited budget package intended to wipe out a $42 billion deficit, possibly steering the state clear of a fiscal disaster. The budget awaits approval by the Assembly.

The vote could finally bring a drawn-out budget battle to a close after leaders agreed to ask voters to revise the state's constitution to allow open primaries for legislative, congressional and gubernatorial elections to win state Sen. Abel Maldonado's support.

Leaders also met his demands to remove a provision to increase the gas tax, freeze legislators' salaries in deficit budget years and to eliminate new office furniture budgeted for the state controller.

I think this may just be a landmark. For the legislature to not get money when the state budget is in a deficit, that is amazing enlightenment! Apparently this amazing reform is because they needed a Republican vote to pass it. How quaint.

Incidentally, the octuplets’ father is also the father of Suleman’s six other children, who were also conceived via in vitro fertilization.

According to Suleman’s mother, Angela, the octuplets’ father, is one of her daughter’s “admirers.”

Reportedly, the name David Solomon appears on four of the first six kids’ birth certificates. Earlier this week, the Associated Press reported that the octuplets last names would be Solomon. But, no one knows for sure if David Solomon is actually the name of the hopefully-not-so-proud father.

Whomever donated the sperm that resulted in Suleman giving birth to a total of 14 children likely feels he bears no responsibility for the chaos these children will experience in life. After all, once he provided his sperm to doctors, they were the ones who presumed Suleman to be a competent person and used that sperm to fertilize her eggs. They acceded to her wishes to implant the resulting embryos in her uterus. They tended to her during the pregnancy and delivered the children into the world.

What possible moral failing could be assigned to a man who merely provided the genetic material for a sterile laboratory procedure sanctioned by the law of our land, a procedure that has helped bring millions of beloved children into the arms of good and decent parents?

I believe the octuplets’ father does bear a moral burden for providing the sperm used in this birthing calamity. The 14 children fathered by Suleman’s sperm donor were born to an unemployed mother with psychological problems and no apparent insight into the consequences of her actions. But they are also the offspring of someone she apparently knows, and that person apparently has even less concern for the human lives he helped create.

The Suleman case exposes gnawing ethical questions that are not asked frequently enough about the whole process of sperm and egg donation.

At what ethical cost does a society decide to sever every meaningful connection between millions of human beings and their offspring? When the medical system is shown to be capable of the kind of reprehensible, misdirected creative impulse evident in the Suleman case, doesn’t it begin to support the notion that donors of sperm and eggs have some responsibility to make sure they aren’t helping to create chaos and suffering? Must asexual reproduction be, by its very nature, amoral reproduction?

I say we do a DNA test and if the children are his then hold him financially responsible. In any other case many states would do that automatically.
I doubt that anyone who knows this woman doesn't hear the off key calliope music every time she enters the room.

Headlining Obama's plan was a $75 billion Homeowner Stability Initiative, which would provide a set of incentives to lenders to cut monthly mortgage payments to sustainable levels. It defines this at no more than 31 percent of a homeowners income. Funding would come from the $700 billion financial industry bailout passed by Congress last fall.

Another key component: a new program aimed at helping homeowners said to be "under water" — with dwellings whose value have sunk below the principal still owing on their mortgages. Such mortgages have traditionally been almost impossible to refinance. But the White House said its program will help 4 to 5 million families do just that.

Obama said this change would come at "roughly zero" cost to taxpayers.

As usual this is going to be highly ineffective and much more expensive than predicted, probably deliberately so. The reality is that the Federal Government forced these banks to make loans to people who shouldn't have had them in the first place. Now ...

Under the law, all public pools and spas must have compliant drain covers installed and a second anti-entrapment system installed when there is only a single main drain. Congress gave all affected pool and spa operators one year to comply with this act. Public pools and spas that operate year-round were expected to be in compliance by Dec. 19, 2008. Seasonal public pools and spas, currently closed, must be in compliance with the law on the day they reopen this year.

The law is named for the granddaughter of former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III. Baker joined Graeme's mother, Nancy Baker, and Safe Kids USA in a three-year advocacy campaign for the legislation. In 2002, at the age of 7, Graeme Baker died in a spa after the powerful suction of a drain entrapped her under water.

I really find this a double whammy as not only is this a required expectation of military life, on an already stretched budget the military and all other non-backyard pools are being required to make this costly replacement/repair. The second part is that pools are not just recreational. Pools are also used for physical therapy for people who need the exercise but can not bear the weight.

The Celebration of Pork continues!

Since the Federal Government is porking it up, I'm going to continue to showcase pork for a little while. You've seen the Breakfast of the Gods, the Breakfast 'o Gods Ragin' style, and today I give you freshly smoked Andouille sausage.


Now, all you Andouille purists, no, this is not made with beef, nor is it stuffed in beef intestine. It's pork, pure pork and spices, because I can get pork for $1.29 a pound and so that's what I use to make sausage. But the spices are pure Andouille, to the point where I just ate some and my ears are burning. Great flavor, great kick, and it was smoked until fully cooked over a mix of hickory and black walnut.

Screw that crap. Oh, call me unromantic if you wish, but we don't celebrate Valentine's Day here at the la Casa de Rage. Sorry, but dead plants and cheap, corn syrup filled confections are NOT what turns the Ragin' Mrs. on.

Besides... every damn day should be Valentine's Day when you're married. You should be doing something to show your love to your spouse EVERY SINGLE DAY, not just one day a year. So all you married folks, here's your challenge - live every day as if it's Valentine's Day. And I don't mean go out and buy more more cheap crap. Do something special every day for your spouse. Bring him or her coffee/tea/cocoa in the morning. Take a task they normally do, and do it for them. Remember to thank them for what they do around the house. Sneak up behind them and give 'em a hug and a kiss at random moments. ALWAYS kiss them goodnight. Instead of a hurried peck on the cheek as you're rushing out the door, take the time to give 'em a kiss that'll knock their socks off, and instead of a "Bye hon I'll see you at dinner", look them in the eyes and just say "I love you".

I think that would be more romantic than any amount of chocolate.

It seems to me that for the first time in the too long history of the Arab/Israeli conflict, apart from a minority of crazy leftists and fascists that took the street with anti-Semitic slogans, we have achieved a huge consensus on one critical point: this is not a local conflict, there is nothing in it that reminds us of a peace theme that has characterized the Palestinian issue. This is an attack against the western world, and Iran is behind it.

Israel really is the canary in the coal mine. If Israel gets demolished, you can be sure the rest of the world is next. We cannot allow Islam to repeat the Holocaust.

Doctors have to join the federal community here in dolling out treatment so that it's fair and equitable. "Keeping doctors informed of the newest medical findings is important, but enforcing uniformity," Betsy McCaughey writes, "goes too far. Hospitals and doctors that are not 'meaningful users' of the new system will face penalties. 'Meaningful user' isn't defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose 'more stringent measures of meaningful use over time' (511, 518, 540-541). What penalties will deter your doctor from going beyond the electronically delivered protocols when your condition is atypical or you need an experimental treatment? The vagueness is intentional. In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the 'tough' decisions elected politicians won't make. The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle's book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs.

What does that mean? It means that it's another step towards government control of healthcare. And when the FedGov is paying for it, THEY decide who gets treated. There are people in Great Britain waiting two years for a hip replacement because it's not a "life threatening" ailment. There are people pulling out their own teeth because the National Health Service in Britain can't get them into a dentist's office. There are Canadians coming down to America and paying for their healthcare out of pocket because they can't get the treatment they need in Canada, or they can't get it on time to do them any good.

The Federal Government destroyed our economy. I'm sure they'll just do a GREAT job with our healthcare system, right?

This is the failure of the Government to do it's CONSTITUTIONAL DUTY.

An Arizona man who has waged a 10-year campaign to stop a flood of illegal immigrants from crossing his property is being sued by 16 Mexican nationals — seeking $32 million in damages — who accuse him of conspiring to violate their civil rights when he stopped them at gunpoint on his ranch on the U.S.-Mexico border, the Washington Times reported Monday.

The rancher, Roger Barnett, 64, began rounding up illegal immigrants in 1998 and turning them over to the U.S. Border Patrol after they destroyed his property, killed his calves and broke into his home, the newspaper reported.

Does the government want vigilantism? Because if they do, all they have to do is keep on keepin' on, not doing the job that is required of them, and allowing US citizens to get shafted.

Lotta coyotes out in that part of the country, and I don't mean the border-hopping wetbacks who funnel in drugs and illegal aliens. I'm talking about the four-footed varmint. Now see, back when I was in high school, living out in the country, we had a lot of coyotes as well. And when one of our animals died, a cow, a horse, we would just drag the carcass out into the woods and leave it. A week later, it was gone. Those coyotes will pick every scrap of meat off the bones, and then take the bones to gnaw on.

And a man has a lot less meat on him than a horse does. I figure a pack of coyotes would pick that carcass clean in about two days or less.

Now, we have certain facts that are carved in stone at this point.

1) The Federal Government is willfully negligent in it's duties to secure the border and protect the country.

2) US Citizens are being negatively impacted by the FedGov's negligence, to the point of being threatened in their own homes, losing property to theft from illegals, etc.

3) When protecting themselves and their homes, US Citizens are now being punished through the judicial system by the very illegal aliens they have to protect themselves from. And the FedGov is doing nothing to stop it.

Now, given that we have those three facts carved in stone, what are our options? Because I'm going to give you the option that a lot of people are looking at now that they've been backed into a corner by the willful negligence of the Federal Government - Shoot, shovel, and shut up. Remember that little post I had up a while ago about laws replacing violence? The laws can only replace violence as long as the laws are both adequate and upheld. The moment the laws are weak and discarded, a person has to resort back to violence.

Since the Federal Government has willfully abdicated it's responsibility to secure the border, i.e. discarded the laws, guess what people are going to have to do? And you can be damn sure that there are plenty of ranchers out there who are reading this and thinking to themselves "Well then, I'm just gonna shoot the little bastards and not tell anyone about it!" If it were me who's house was being broken into, who's livestock was being killed, who's property was being restored, I wouldn't be holding people and calling the Border Patrol, I would be making people disappear. And the four-legged coyotes would be getting fat on my property.

Is that what people want? Is that what the FedGov wants? Because that's where we are headed.

Fannie, Freddie to channel mortgage rescue: sources

"They want to get rid of all the high-cost mortgages out there and figure that there are 1.5 million people who could stay in their homes this year if their loans were modified," said one industry source who asked for anonymity. "But it's just really complicated and expensive to do these kind of workouts."

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac own or insure 31 million mortgages -- about 58 percent of all U.S. single-family home loans -- but only a fraction of their borrowers qualify for a refinancing program that was meant to save several hundred thousand. A similar initiative run by the Department of Housing and Urban Development that promised to help 400,000 borrowers has only reached a few hundred.

I'm sick of the news

I truly am. Every time I turn around, I'm reading about how the Democrat American Communist Party is destroying this country, one bit at a time. This time it's Kommisar Obama killing about 25,000 businesses with the stroke of a pen.

He doesn't give a shit about the people who will lose their jobs. He's just doing the bidding of the AFL-CIO like a good little flunky. Hey, they helped get him elected, so now he gives them what THEY want. Who cares if businesses go under and people lose their jobs? Who cares if it will cripple the economy. Our Socialist Paradise beckons! It's the new Five Year Plan!

And what sickens me even worse is that there's a big chunk of American who are happy about it.

I've made up my mind on a few issues - when the airborne excrement impacts the rotating air-movement device, I'll be able to protect myself and maybe a few other people. If you voted for Obama or any of the current crop of Socialists, I'm going to leave you out in the cold. I will not give any assistance to the people who put us in this horrible situation.

Thems the breaks. We need to make stupidity painful again. Maybe when the bullshit "stimulus" bill passes and sinks this country into the next Great Depression, people will realise that more government isn't the answer.

Or maybe they'll just blame the Republicans for it, like they've been doing with ALL their problems for the past thirty years.
