Govt Agency in charge of your health care info just got hacked

Yep, the IRS had over 700,000 people's information get taken right from them.

You seeing a pattern yet?  If not, please suck-start a shotgun, because you've proven you're too stupid to steal my oxygen.

Home again, Jiggity Jig

And now dealing with all the crap that was either broken or lost in the move.  At least I don't have to get showered until I want to do so.

I'm about done with Twitter

Between all the suspended folks, and those who are simply walking away because they refuse to be ruled over by a bunch of SJW tyrants, there's not really much to make me want to stay on that particular website.

The ProgNazi shitheads currently in charge of Twitter have forgotten some basic business concepts.  First, with Twitter as with most of the social networking platforms, the users are not their customers.  The users are their product.  The advertisers who want access to those users are their customers.  Driving away users with their Marxist-type actions means that they are cutting the amount of product that they can deliver to their customers.  I would note that the stock value of Twitter has been plunging lately.  It's going to go lower.  Appointing that SJW harpy to the Ministry of Truth will force stock prices into the basement.

So long, Twitter.  It was a short ride.  Oh well.  There's always another website to come along.

Aaaaaaaaand........

We're in a house.  And we have internet.

Whew.  And now I get to jet off to another part of the country for a few days.

Whew.

This past couple of weeks has been like trying to drink from a firehose while jumping on to a moving train.

Jeb Bush is dropping out

It's about time.

I'm figuring that most of his support is going to fall in line behind Marco Rubio.  Not my first choice. But he should have never jumped in the race to begin with.  It shows just how badly the GOP understands it's voters that he was in the race at all.

Hey, guess who had food poisoning?

Yeah.  Coming out of both ends.  It was not fun.

The Sage of South Central says...

My opinion

If I had to put up with modern feminized women, I'd be buying sex dolls as well.

The arrival of sex robots will soon see men spurning real life partners and snuggling up to silicon instead.
But feminists fear the arrival of bonk bots could spark an explosion of sexism which will see men adopt dark age attitudes to real life ladies.

Too bad, feminists.  You've turned modern women into nothing more than men with vaginas.

You've pushed women into the workplace.  You've pushed them into the military.  You've pushed them OUT of the home.  You've pushed them OUT of being mothers.  You've done everything you possibly could to eliminate the nuclear family.  You have done your best to ensure that a woman is JUST LIKE A MAN.

But men don't want women to be just like a man.  We like our women to be women.

So why should men spend all that time pursuing women again?  Why should a man work his tail off, only to come home and find his wife exhausted from doing the same crap he did, his kids being raised by someone else, his house not in order, and some fast food on the table because nobody has the time to cook dinner?

Ladies, if men wanted that, we'd get room-mates and be done with it.

Oh, but you're a modern, strong, independent womyn, hear you roar?  Cool.  Roar over there.  I've got a sex-bot to take care of the only thing of value a modern womyn can bring to the table, which means I don't have to put up with all the OTHER bullshit that modern womyn bring with them.

Men are rather primitive by nature, if you women out there haven't guessed it yet.  Without a woman to keep a home, a man has no reason to provide one.  Without a woman to help raise his children, a man won't bother having any.  Without a woman to give him a reason to head out every day and work his tail off, a man will sit around in his boxers playing Xbox.  In short, without a woman to civilize him, a man won't become civilized.  Take women, fully feminine women who revel in being women out of the picture, and you're left with men and the room-mate with benefits that the man sleeps with sometimes.

In the modern world, under modern feminism, a woman is nothing more than the collective value of her sexual prowess.  Because modern feminists have made sure that women deny their actual value in society.  But that means that once something like a sex-bot who looks and screws like a porn star comes along, a modern woman doesn't have any real value left at all.

Oh what a shock

Elliott Spitzer got caught sticking his schwanz where it doesn't belong yet again.  His girlfriend is apparently all pissed off about it, which is understandable.  However, his girlfriend is also a Democrat Political Operative, so if there's anyone who's familiar with being around diseased assholes, it's a Donk Political Operative, so you think she might be used to this type of thing.  Also, the amount of negative karma you get as a Democrat Political Operative means that at some point, life is going to take a double dose of ex-lax and stand over you with its legs spread.

And he's old enough to be her daddy.  I'd say she has much deeper issues than the possibility of an STD.

And apparently Spitzer was banging this girlfriend while still married (he was still married?  What kind of nutcase stays married to Elliott F'n Spitzer?  Whiskey.  Tango.  FOXTROT.  Over.) so it's not like this chick didn't know he liked to step out on his ladies.  Sheesh.

You know what?  I don't feel sorry for her at all.  She needs to be held up as an example of WHAT NOT TO DO if you're a woman.  Dear ladies - if you don't want to end up a sour old shrew, pinch-faced and lonely with your dozen cats in a high-rise NYC apartment, do not ever do what Liz Smith did.  You're welcome.

OK, so I love snow

The rest of Virginia, not so much.  House hunting gets a whole lot harder when real-estate folks are huddled up in their houses as if driving in the snow might cause them to first break out in hives and then burst into flames.  They didn't even bother showing up to the offices, if the complete and total lack of phone communication can be believed.  We did manage to get one or two folks to respond to text messages.

We actually had one person give us the code to the key box and say "Let us know what you think of the inside!"  So we went and checked it out.  It was the only house we could look at today.

Maybe they're all suffering from PTSD after the wholloping they got a few weeks ago?

Ah well.  I managed to get my hair cut.  And I was the only customer the poor lady had all day.

More snow

Yay!  Seriously!  Yay!

Shit

Antonin Scalia died today.

I told this to my wife, and her response was "Shit.  Obama gets to select another one"

And you know the GOP is too gutless, pathetic, scared, weak and spineless to prevent yet another fucking communist on the court.  We've been one vote away from a tyrannical state for years.  We're about to go over that ledge, and there's probably no going back.

Made it

I'm in what'll be my home for the next few years, barring any kind of event that changes things substantially.

Man, I'm tired of driving.

At one point today

I was skipping through AM Radio while driving, and was able to pick up stations from Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, and Atlanta.  It made trying to figure out the weather reports rather interesting.  On a side note, Chicago ain't happy with the Bulls.

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Deep freeze

If the weather reports I read are accurate, it's about 10 degrees when we woke up this morning.

Yee.  Haw!

As a side note, just listening to Colbie Caillat makes me want to take that woman into a dark room and do wonderful things to her.

If you're a red-blooded male, and her voice doesn't give you a tingle in the no-no place, you've got issues.

We had a good break.  Spent lots of times with friends, ate lots, drank good beer, smoked lots of cigars.

On the move now.  Posting will be light.

The Doritos ad

From the Super Bowl apparently has the pro-baby-murder group NARAL up in arms because it "humanizes a fetus".

In other words, it reminds people that a human baby is a human baby, and ripping it apart limb from limb and then sucking it out of the womb is murder.

I guess I'm not as political as I thought, as every single person in the room when we watched the commercial damn near shat themselves laughing.  Me, my wife, my football-watching buddy (who is female, and just a bit younger than my mother's age), her husband, and the various other folks in the room.

We all laughed.  Hysterically.

Trust NARAL to take a funny commercial and attempt to twist it so that their baby-murdering agenda is front and center.

Phaw.  Humorless nags and harpies, that group.

I didn't see the halftime show

For the past couple of years, I've just walked out of the room when the Super Bowl half-time show came on.  I just didn't give a crap.  In LA, I'd go out back of the cigar lounge I went to, and tossed a football around with a couple of the other guys.  This year I went out and had a small cigar, but didn't pay one single bit of attention to the half-time entertainment.

I guess that was a good decision once again.

I don't listen to Beyonce.  Other than the fact that she and her husband supported Obama just because of his skin color, I didn't know all that much about her.  But it turns out she's another racist thunder-cunt who has no problem demanding the services of the police that she hates.

Ah well.  I'd boycott her, but that would first assume that I was buying anything of hers, which I'm not.  So I guess I'll just say she can take a flying fuck at a rolling donut.

The military now resembles a science fiction movie

A while back, I read "A Desert Called Peace" by Tom Kratman.  In it, the old earth is essentially one gigantic UN, and the Federated States military care more about social justice and environmentalism than they do about winning wars.

Thanks to that fucking Marxist shitheel currently infecting the Oval Office, that sci-fi story is coming true.

The Pentagon is ordering the top brass to incorporate climate change into virtually everything they do, from testing weapons to training troops to war planning to joint exercises with allies.
A new directive’s theme: The U.S. Armed Forces must show “resilience” and beat back the threat based on “actionable science.”

I cannot begin to tell you how infuriated I am every time something like this pops up.  The damage that has been done, and is still being done to our military is incalculable.  We're not coming back from this.

And then I start to think about all the Obama myrmidons out there, who cheer his every action, and that anger burns even hotter.  But slower.  Like a fire that's been banked, just waiting for the next bit of fuel and air.

Obama, that repugnant, slimy piece of anti-American shit, is not the problem.  Obama is the symptom of the problem.  The problem is the huge number of people living in this country who care more about getting their free crap than they care about the future of the country.  The problem is the sheer number of people living in this country who don't even like it here, because they've been brainwashed by legions of socialist/communist fuckwads in schools and universities, but who don't have a clue what it's like outside their pampered bubbles.  The problem is the ignorant pukes at Occupy Wall Street camps screaming about how corporations are evil into their iPhones to upload on YouTube.  Thew problem is men without chests.

There will come another war.  Unlike the last one, the vast majority of deaths will most likely occur in urban areas, because that's where these idiotic, ignorant, pampered, selfish Marxist drones live.  And if that's the case, then we don't need to root them out of the fields and forests and glens and dells.  We just have to keep them from leaving their urban jails, and let nature, and the Democrat Free Shit Army do the rest.

Congrats to the Denver Broncos

I figure this will probably be Payton Manning's last game.  He's had a hell of a career, and to go out on top is what players want to do.

As a side note - if there's one celebrity I look like, it's Payton Manning.  I've actually been accosted by people who thought I was him, until they got up close and found out that I was a few inches shorter.  So, when he retires, there will be nobody famous who looks like me.  Bummer.

I turned off the debate last night

Got tired of watching people fall into the MSM's same old trick of getting them to defeat themselves.

Rubio and Christie's bitch-slap fight got tiresome real quick.  Rubio can't play Christie's game and win.  Christie enjoys getting dirty, Rubio's schtick depends on him staying clean.

Everybody was invited to pile on Cruz.  They obliged.  I think he handled it rather well, considering it was question after question of "Governor, don't you agree that Senator Cruz is the anti-Christ?"

Eventually, you can only listen to the same old tired track.  I turned it off.  I didn't see anything that made me want to vote for anyone other than Cruz and maybe Trump.

Saturday, February 06, 2016

I still like Carly

Even though she's been relegated to the back bench at the debates.  Which is a load of hogwash, if you ask me.  I'd rather have her on stage than Kasich or Bush.

Grrrr

So, I was going to stop by the RoK meetup in Wisconsin.  It had been canceled because Roosh couldn't promise the safety and security of the attendees.  The local news just ran a story that says "Pro-Rape Meeting Canceled".

Yeah, tell me there's no liberal media.  That's the kind of thing that makes my blood boil.

The Left is racist, example 2,548,191

Rubio and Cruz aren't really Latino, says the NYT.

The link goes to Ace of Spades HQ, so it's safe to click.  But just like when the Left tried to paint George Zimmerman as a "White Hispanic", and oh, about every black conservative being told that they're not really black, the Left cannot prevent itself from demanding that minorities perform actions based on the color of their skin.

The Party of Slavery never really dropped their racist roots, and it shows.

Military overspending

Hey, I wonder who many more troops we could have in the force if we eliminated some of the BILLIONS of dollars of fraud and waste?

Waste at the Pentagon is nothing new. But recent revelations suggest that it may be reaching historic levels.
The Special Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction has uncovered scandal after scandal involving U.S. aid to that country, including the creation of private villas for a small number of personnel working for a Pentagon economic development initiative and a series of costly facilities that were never or barely used. An analysis by ProPublica puts the price tag for wasteful and misguided expenditures in Afghanistan at $17 billion, a figure that is higher than the GDP of 80 nations.

I'm one of the first people who will jump up and defend military spending, but that means I have to be one of the first to jump up and demand that the money being spend in the military gets spent properly.  I've been in several positions where I had financial liability for several projects, and if there were a discrepancy, the Army would hunt me down and take it out of my paycheck.  So I made damn sure I knew where every single penny went.  There was no fraud.  There were no discrepancies.  I think that if we started hitting the people committing the fraud in their pocketbook (as well as some jail time) that fraud would end rather quickly.

But that would mean that when people commit fraud, they get punished.  And since the VA can't even stick to the punishment for the people who jacked $400k from them, I don't see that happening any time soon.

Although Kimberly Graves and Diana Rubens are excellent reasons why the VA needs to be dismantled and turned over to a private company.

Got nailed with snow yesterday

And I loved every last minute of it, even the shoveling.

Cruz wins Iowa

This makes me happy.  However, in 2012 Santorum squeaked out a win in Iowa, and was never heard from again.

So I'm also a bit worried.

Yes, Cruz is my guy.  I hope he continues to do well.

Your government at "work"

Re-instating a woman who essentially embezzled $130k or so....

A Department of Veterans Affairs official who was demoted after allegedly stealing thousands of taxpayer dollars from the agency was quietly reinstated to her position earlier this week.
Kimberly Graves, former head of a VA regional office in Minnesota, appeared before the Merit Systems Protection Board Wednesday to appeal the VA's decision to strip her of her title in the wake of a scathing inspector general report. That report found Graves had pressured a colleague to leave his job so she could manipulate an employee relocation program and pocket nearly $130,000.

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to what would happen to me if I jacked $130k through less than savory means?

Yeah.  I'd be in Club Fed at Fort Leavenworth, contemplating my upcoming dishonorable discharge and forfeiture of all pay and benefits.  But Kimberly Graves and her pal Diana Rubens, who between them pocketed over $400k?

Do you know how many Soldiers we could have with $400k?  Or hell, just saving the damn money, since we're trillions and trillions and trillions of dollars in debt?

But noooooooooo, these two butch-looking harridans jack the government for almost half a million dollars, and they don't even lose their jobs.

This country is toast.  We can't even fire these people.  They will still be there.  They will still be drawing a government paycheck.  Fuck them.  Fuck the whole lot of them, let them die screaming, and spend eternity choking on the barbed cock of Satan.

Hangin' with friends

"President Obama's f**king wrong!"

Yeah, I don't think too many people in Indiana like the Stuttering Clusterfuck of Miserable Failure.

I know you'll never be able to get the people who hate the 2nd Amendment to watch this, but you should, just so that you can laugh in the face of the next person who blubbers about the "gunshow loophole".

Back in my old stomping grounds

Might be light posting for a bit.  Meeting old friends.  Drinking much scotch.  Smoking many cigars. Repeat.

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day, Maybe YOU Won't Edition

From According to Hoyt (Don't know if Sarah wrote it or one of her people who occasionally co-blog)

In some blog, long ago, in the comments section, someone said that if the left got what it wanted, it would backfire so badly we’d be hunting them with dogs and beating them to death with their “no blood for oil” signs.  I think it’s going to be worse than that.  I think it’s going to be so bad that the rest of us are not even going to enjoy it.  Even if they brought this on themselves, by creating an enemy they thought they’re prefer to confront, an enemy that didn’t exist outside their lies.

Yes, some people won't enjoy it.  Some people will.  Those are the people who you need to keep an eye on, and make sure they're on YOUR side.

For every time the media wants to shove a muslim in our faces

to say "But what do you say to reassure us?  We're peaceful!"

The Peaceful Majority is irrelevant.

Time to re-post this.

Debate or slap-fight?

The moderators are going after the candidates.  The candidates are going after the candidates.  Kasich  (is that how it's spelled? I don't care enough to check) has floppy hands, who had a father that was a milkman, or maybe a mailman.

Rubio trying to talk tough about immigration after his Gang of 8 bullshit is like the Charlie Brown teacher going "Waah wah, waawaa WAAAH wah!"

What's Danish for "Wake the f**k UP!"

Because if this were happening in my town, either the perps or the cops who covered it up would go missing.

Denmark recorded an average of 395 rape cases every year up to 2014. But an investigation by the Ministry of Justice has revealed the actual number to be closer to 1,100 annually, Metroxpress reported on Thursday.

The police in Cologne covered up the number of sexual assaults that happened on New Year's Eve.  The police in Sweden covered up sexual assaults and rape.  And Denmark is covering up rapes.

And why?  To cower and cringe before a murdering, terrorist-filled, pedophile prophet worshipping religion.

Phaw.  Maybe some cultures need to die out.  They certainly seem more than willing to commit suicide.

Listening to talk radio on the road

And Trump is staying away from the Fox News debate.

Good.  Honestly.  I don't know if it'll help him or hurt him.  But I won't have to listen to vague statements like "I know good people, let me tell you, and my guys are gonna be the best, they're gonna be wonderful...."

I'm happy Trump is running.  He's moved entire discussions to the right, away from what the Democrats wanted to talk about.  But I don't know if I could stand to listen to him on the news for four years.

Man, that's a big hole, innit?

Appropriate for this Sunday, I think.  Although it's not a mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin, it's still one of the most beautiful Glorias I can remember.

Light Posting Warning

Gonna be content free for a few days.  Life will go on.  Check out the sidebar!

So now Glenn Frey is gone as well

I grew up listening to the Eagles.  But in all reality, their careers were over by the time I entered high school, if not long before.  Out of all the folks who have passed lately I think I'll miss Alan Rickman the most, because he was a delight to watch in any role.

However, I don't know if I'm really broken up about it.  I see lots of people all upset over Bowie, and Rickman, and the other folks who have died lately, while my reaction has been one more of "Oh damn, that sucks."

I think it's because A) as a Catholic, I don't believe that death is the end.  It's just a transition.

And B)  People die.  Careers die, and I think Glenn Frey's career died long before he did.  That doesn't mean I don't like his music, or that he didn't have talent; he had tons of talent, and I've spent hours singing along to a lot of his songs.  But there's new music coming out every day.  I'll be quoting Alan Rickman until the day I die (....and CALL OFF CHRISTMAS!") but there are other actors still making a name for themselves who I'll enjoy next year.

Life is a cycle.  The world keeps turning.  Nothing we can do will stop that.

Thank God

Reality prevails.

The U.S. Air Force has decided to indefinitely postpone the retirement of the legendary A-10 Thunderbolt II ground attack plane. The venerable Warthog's increased role in the air campaign against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria was the Pentagon's main reason for the postponement.

There is no other aircraft in the US inventory that can do what the A-10 does, period.  And what it does is save the ass of the US military man on the ground, time and time again, getting in low and slow before pounding the ever-loving shit out of the bad guys.

I posted a video on the A-10 back in 2008.  Seems like a good time to link to it.  I tried to repost the vid here, but that didn't work too well for me, although the video works in the original post.

The Day by Day...

I recognize a certain someone when Jan is displayed....

Yes, there is a trade war

And it's not just China doing it.  China just happens to be the most effective at it.

China is refusing to trade with Boeing if the company does not move.  Why? It’s not about putting Chinese people to work, it’s about China importing their research and development, Boeing’s production secrets, into their country so they can learn, steal and begin to manufacture their own airliners.
This is just how China works.  In time, Comac, a state-owned, Shanghai-based aerospace company will then use the production secrets they have stolen, produce their own airliners, kick out Boeing, undercut the market, and sell cheaper manufactured airplanes to the global economy.
Boeing, the great American company that Jeb Bush thinks they are, becomes yet another notch on the Asian market belt.
All of those Boeing workers, those high-wage industrial skill jobs that support the American middle class, yeah – those jobs lost.   And the cycle continues.
Lemme tell you about being able to buy the movie 300 on a bootleg DVD prior to it being released in theaters.  Of course, this was in Puerto Rico, and the DVD was from the Dominican Republic.....

Got me a going away present

One of these.

Forget the gingerbread artwork on the top.  This thing has some amazing sound to it, especially considering that the plug-ins typically reduce the sound coming out of the instrument because it dampens the vibration in the wood.  But I picked this up at the shop, strummed it a few times, and was flat-out amazed at how good it sounded.

So it came home with me.

Now I just need an amp.  I'll be picking one of those up somewhere in Virginia.

Ted Cruz "apologizes"

Love it.

“I apologize to the hard working men and women of the state of  New York who’ve been denied jobs because Gov. Cuomo won’t allow fracking,” Cruz continued. “I apologize to all the pro-life and pro-marriage and pro-Second Amendment New Yorkers who were told by Gov. Cuomo that they have no place in New York because that’s not who New Yorkers are. I apologize to all of the small businesses who’ve been driven out of New York City by crushing taxes and regulations.

I wish I had been there to see that in person.

At least I don't have a car payment

Getting new shocks and struts put on the Ragin' Car.  Given the abuse that poor thing has dealt with over it's driving life, let's just say that I'm putting a pretty penny into the undercarriage.

But, that's better to me than having a car payment.  I figure that what I'm spending on repairs would be two or three months of car payments, which leaves the other nine or ten months worth of car payments in my bank account, as it were.

Advantage, my bank account.

Alan Rickman is dead too?

Dang it!

I'll always remember him as the sole reason that "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" was watchable.

The actual state of the Union

In nine charts.

Pay attention to the Labor Force Participation Rate and the Worker's Share of the Economy.

Socialism.  It's a bitch, folks.

Jogged by a post at Tam's

I've never fired a Taurus Judge.  I'm not a recoil wussy, but I just don't think I could keep the gun on target firing a 410 shotgun shell out of a revolver.  Not without an 8" barrel, anyways.  To me, the gun  just screams "show piece".  As in you can pull it out to say "Hey, look at this!" but you never actually use it very often.

Any of you out there ever fired one?  If so, is it a novelty sort of thing, or is this a gun that's actually worth buying?

This is for my wife

Who puts up with more shit than any woman has a right to deal with, and still keeps me upright and moving forward.

A rhetorical question

Do you think for one minute that this would have happened during GWB's presidency?

Iranian military forces seized two U.S. Navy boats Tuesday and are holding them in custody on Iran’s Farsi Island in the middle of the Persian Gulf, senior U.S. officials told NBC News.

We all know the answer - there's no way in hell Iran would have done this under Bush.  Hell, they wouldn't have done it under GHWB.

But everybody knows that Obama is a worthless, incompetent, spineless, gutless fucking pussy who has turned America into the laughingstock of the world stage.  And everybody knows that Obama won't do a damn thing about it, because that would take courage, conviction, and balls - three things Obama completely lacks.

Hey, who's watching the State Of The Union address tonight?

Not me.  I refuse to listen to that stuttering clusterfuck of failure.  I won't do it.  I'll read the transcript tomorrow, just to confirm what we already know; that delusional fucking waste of oxygen is nothing but a narcissistic buffoon completely detached from reality.

Lots going on

And I'm busy as all get out.  Posting is going to be light for a couple of days, m'kay?

Peak Laziness

Saw this while coming back from grocery shopping.  Damn near lost my mind.

This is just one example of why I cannot wait to leave this place.  It's full of people who are too stupid and lazy to push the damn shopping cart an extra six feet into the cart corral.

This attitude carries over into every other aspect of their lives.  Being that fucking lazy and worthless is not the problem; it is a symptom of the problem, and the problem is that I am surrounded by selfish, lazy, stupid fucking assholes on a constant basis.

Put the cart.  Into the corral.  Six.  Fucking.  Feet.  But apparently that's too much effort for the slack-jawed, drooling, mouth breathing fuckwits who live in the San Fernando Valley.  Just like putting their plastic bags into the trash was too much effort, which caused the LA river to be festooned with trees covered in plastic bags that were just tossed into the road.  Which is why LA county banned plastic bags, by the way.  Just like throwing your trash in a TRASH CAN takes too much effort, which is why I pick up litter from the sidewalk next to my house every week.

Just like giving a fuck about your fellow man takes too much effort for these shitheads, which is why every time I turn around I'm confronted by yet another greedy, selfish asshole who can't bother to do any of the basic things that make civilization function smoothly, such as use a turn signal, share the sidewalk, stop at red lights, pick up after their dog, or any other of the myriad acts of courtesy that allow people to live in close quarters.

Soon, soon, soon I will be out of this shithole.  And then, quite frankly, the entire city of Los Angeles can sink in to the ocean and drown for all I care.

Busy today

So perhaps a selection from the sidebar over on the right?  There's a new blog in the blogrolls:  Musings Over A Pint.  He's a shooter, a beer enthusiast, and has one hell of a first name.  The name of Kings, even.

There are times

That I get a little resentful over the fact that the Catholic Church I grew up in was so divorced from what it used to be.  Reading things like this makes me wonder "Where was this when I was growing up?  Why couldn't things have been explained like this when I was a kid?"

The answer, of course, is that Fulton Sheen came from the Tridentine Rite, and therefore was considered not required by the new, "modern" Mass, and was discarded as being "old-fashioned".

What a crock.

Rage Spiral

Got into an argument with a supposed Catholic on Twitter.

I say supposed because this woman supported every Leftist meme you can think of, including abortion.  Anyone who claims to be Catholic or pro-abortion is lying about one side or the other.  You cannot be both Catholic, meaning you follow the Catechism of the Church, and pro-abortion.  They contradict each other.  They are mutually exclusive.

I have no doubt that in the Novus Ordo Catholic Church, there are many, many people who believe they can hold both views.  They are wrong, and they have never honestly looked at Church doctrine, or what they claim to profess.

In any case, I pointed out to this woman that you can be one or the other, but you cannot be both.  The result was something that I can only call a rage spiral, especially as she tried to hit me with SJW rhetoric, and I didn't back down.  I kept pointing out that claiming to be both Catholic and pro-abortion makes you a hypocrite for either one side or the other.

At that point, the woman called her friends into her little rage spiral, and they threw one massive, gigantic temper tantrum online.  However, you can look up a person's bio on Twitter, and I noticed one thing.

Not one single friend of hers joining in her rage spiral against me claimed to be Catholic.  I saw atheist, agnostic, anti-theists and one Jew.  But not one Catholic.

You surround yourself with people whom you agree with.  This woman apparently finds more agreement with people diametrically opposed to her faith, who encourage her to stray away from her faith and lead her down a path away from everything she claims to profess.

And when someone points it out, they all rage.

It's much like what drug addicts do when one of them tries to get clean.  You won't find much support for sobriety in a shooting gallery.

In any case, this is the last amount of energy I'm going to expend on her.  She's not worth anything more than that.

I have a member of my extended family going to Wheaton

And over Christmas they told us about a professor there who was causing a bit of an issue.  Turns out, Wheaton finally got tired enough to do something about it.  Bully for them!

Wheaton is a Christian university.  It's professors must be Christian themselves, as it's a requirement of their employment.  Walking into class wearing the hijab and claiming that muslims and Christians worship the same god will not fly.  Refusing to communicate with the school's leadership, and instead throwing a public temper-tantrum, will result in negative action against you.

Wheaton will be much better off once they get rid of her.

This is what they do in their own countries

This is what they will do in ours.

A mob men of reportedly North African and Arab origin assaulted women in downtown Cologne on New Year’s Eve, in attacks Mayor Henriette Reker characterized as “monstrous” and “lawlessness.”

One of the reasons that I'm rather anti-immigration is that I've been to many of the countries that the immigrants are coming from, and I've seen what they do in their own nations.  And I don't want to bring that to my country.  We no longer force people to assimilate to America, we now coddle them along while regurgitating cheap slogans such as "Diversity!"

Well, those muslims just diversified the shit out of Cologne, didn't they?  Do you like your diversity with a side of rape?  Too bad, you're going to get it.  It always amazes me that the very same idiots and brain-dead cunt-knuckles who cry about supposed "rape culture" in the USA are the very same ones who want to import millions of people from a society that actually has a rape culture alive and thriving.

They do it in their country.  They will do it in ours.  It's that simple.

UPDATE:  Here's a bit more on the diversity of Cologne.

One of the first victim's to speak out, an 18-year-old named only as Michelle, described being surrounded by a group of 30 'angry' men who groped her and her friends then stole their belongings as they fled.
Witnesses and police have described men working in 'coordinated' groups to grope women who were unable to escape, while two women reported they were raped.
Michelle's shocking testimony comes as the city's own council today admitted its town centre was now a 'no-go area' for women, while it has emerged similar attacks occurred the same night across Hamburg and Stuttgart.
And while German media and authorities stand accused of covering up previous incidents to avoid stoking tensions, there are fears the upcoming carnival celebrations in Cologne will see a repeat of the brazen attacks.
The victims' testimonies come as protesters angered by authorities' alleged inaction held demonstrations last night.

What the hell made Germany think that their soil was so magic that they could import these muslims from the Middle East and all of the sudden they would be law-abiding Germans, anyways?

Dear Sporting Goods Salesperson

When the Ragin' Mrs. walks in to your shop and asks about a hard case for a compound bow, and you show her a $300 model, and she says "That's out of my price range", the correct response is "Well, what's your price range?".

Do not continue to show her case after case that we cannot afford, especially when she makes it known the price range she is looking for.

Bottom line - Gander Mountain had a Plano hard case for $40.  Add in $20 for two-day shipping, and we're still $100 below the lowest price case you offered.

Woke up late

Dashed out the door in time to make it to work.  Sorry 'bout the lack of free ice cream.

Got guns?

Get some.  And buy ammo.  Obama ain't just waiting around, he's going to issue some executive order or another, and let's face it - the GOP doesn't have the balls, the spine or the brain to oppose him on it.

They've already proven that in spades.

Call me Josh Turner

I'm well enough to go back to work, unfortunately.  But the cold has moved out of my head and into my chest.  I am a basso profundo for today.  Talking on the phone is going to be joyous.

New Year's Whittle

Natalie Cole, RIP

Dang it.  She was one of my favorites at singing the classics when I was growing up.  I still think her rendition of "Paper Moon" is the best out there.

Your Stupid Phrase of the Day

"Military Welfare State"

Folks, if you, like Jennifer Mittelstadt, think that military benefits are just so gosh darn overwhelming that generous, then I suggest that you go down to your nearest recruiting station and put your name on the dotted line.

The fact that we still have to go out and recruit for people to come into the military shows that we don't exactly have people banging down our doors to join.  Oh, and there's that whole "You might get shot and die because of the incompetent Community Organizer in Chief currently infecting the Oval Office" thing.

As for Jennifer Mittelstadt, I would note that she's an associate professor at a state-funded university, making her living off of tax-payer dollars in a much more comfortable way than your standard military member.

Gah.  This year ain't starting off too well.

Happy New Year, y'all

I'm spending it with NyQuil and a hot shower.  YMMV.

The Consensus that wasn't

But we already knew this, didn't we?

Don’t look now, but maybe a scientific consensus exists concerning global warming after all. Only 36 percent of geoscientists and engineers believe that humans are creating a global warming crisis, according to a survey reported in the peer-reviewed Organization Studies. By contrast, a strong majority of the 1,077 respondents believe that nature is the primary cause of recent global warming and/or that future global warming will not be a very serious problem.

Any time I hear a leftist spouting off about "SCIENCE!" I automatically assume that they're either lying, clueless, or both.

So, you know how you go visit family

And they're all sick, but they didn't tell you that before you showed up?

Yeah.  Blargle.  So much for going for a run tomorrow.  Kinda hard to do that when you can't friggin' breath through your nose, and you spend most of your very early morning hacking and coughing up chunks.

I think this was the first vacation in a long time where I couldn't wait to leave.

Da Tech Guy on Ted Cruz

....and Cruz's supposed immigration problem.

All the various attacks being launched at Cruz by members of the GOP on his immigration record are all attempts to deflect attention away from Rubio's Gang of 8 Amnesty bullshit.

The GOP establishment hates Ted Cruz with a passion, and they're throwing shit against a wall hoping that some of it will stick.

The Coventry Carol

To remind us that even Jesus as a baby faced death.

Christmas isn't all lights and presents and happiness.  Jesus, Mary and Joseph had to flee the country to keep away from Herod's men.

There's a lesson to be learned here....

My scheduled Christmas post

Many moon ago, when Ragin' Dave was just a wee thing, he attended Midnight Mass at a local church.  It was a Novus Ordo parish, as I didn't even know the Traditional Latin Mass was still going, but it was an old fashioned church nonetheless.  We had a full blown pipe organ; a 1920 Black organ. And we had an organist who knew how to play it.  He was, and still is, one of the true masters of the pipe organ.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Pulling out all the stops"?  That is a reference to a pipe organ.  The organist as "stops" arranged on his organ.  Pull one out, and the sound gets louder.  Push one in, and the sound gets quiet.  Pull them all out, and you have a pipe organ at full volume.

This being Midnight Mass at a semi-traditional church, many of the parishioners were someone older.  And they weren't used to being up past midnight.  Which means that by the time mass ended, many of them were half-asleep.

The last song of the night was "Joy To The World".  And the organist pulled out all the stops.  On a vintage, 1920 pipe organ, in full working order.

You could see a WAVE of sound roll over the congregation.

Woke them up properly for the drive home, it did.

Feel free to sing along.  I sure did.

Ragin' Dave's Quote of the Day, The Power of Language edition

From John C Wright:

The Devil invented lies to turn the power of speech into a weapon of falsehood. And God invented the parable, the poem, the epic, the song, and the sonnet in order to turn the power of lies into fables, myths, types and shadows, to turn fiction into a weapon of truth.
I know more people who were converted by Aslan than by Aquinas. What does that tell you about the power of fiction?

I could tell my co-workers about how Satan operates, how he tries to manipulate people into damning themselves.  But they would yawn and tune me out faster than you could blink.

Put a copy of "The Screwtape Letters" into their hands, however....

Lindsey Graham is out of the race

He finally figured out what we could have told him long before he ever got into the race.

Apparently his "supporters" are switching to Jeb Bush.  So you can expect to see a 0.3% bump is Bush's poll numbers.  That should get Jeb close to 4% in the national polls, if you round up.

Too friggin' cool

Launch a rocket, dispense a few satellites, land rocket again safely.

Every time something like this happens, we get another step closer to the Moon.  Or Mars.

Shared this with the wife. Laughed my ass off.

And Ted Cruz is paying to have this ad play during SNL this weekend.

Friggin' awesome.

I hate Christmas Shopping

I truly do.  I suppose I should just buy things throughout the year and put them in hiding so that I never have to actually go shopping for Christmas, but that would imply being able to keep a secret from my wife for several months, and that just ain't gonna happen.  I'm not a good liar at the best of times, and I can't keep anything from the Mrs.

But that's a good thing.  I'm proud of the fact that I'm a horrible liar.  That means I don't lie enough to get any practice at it.

Anyways, I hate Christmas shopping, I truly do.

Guess what I'm doing today?

Obama's Praetorian Guard strike again

The NYT's Lord, King and God must be protected at all times.

If you read The New York Times‘ story on PresidentBarack Obama‘s private meeting with news columnists Friday morning, you may have caught one quote that made the President look particularly bad:
In his meeting with the columnists, Mr. Obama indicated that he did not see enough cable television to fully appreciate the anxiety after the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, and made clear that he plans to step up his public arguments.
The President of the United States failed to understand that Americans were anxious after two major terrorist attacks in Western cities because he doesn’t watch TV? It’s an admission that opponents are sure to use to make the president seem out-of-touch at best, and unconcerned about a serious threat at worst.
Jammie Wearing Fool has the proof that the NYT is constantly changing it's headlines in order to protect their Communist Christ from any criticism at all.

Took a tumble

whilst on the morning run.  I think I'm mostly OK, but I'm fairly certain my shoulders are going to be sore tonight.  We'll see how I feel tomorrow morning.

So once again

Democrats get everything they want, while the Republican leadership cowers in a corner and throws poo at the Tea Party folks.

Fuck the GOP.  It needs to die.  It needs to die now.

More Here.  Paul Ryan is just a thinner, more sober John Boehner, and it's business as usual for the GOP establishment - grow the government betray the base, make excuses, repeat.  They have repeatedly shown that they cannot be trusted, they cannot learn, the refuse to actually do what their voters want them to do....  it's time for them to go the way of the Whig Party.

The flashing alarm light

But the nation has been asleep at the switch for the past seven years.

Well, at least half the nation, anyway.

I believe that most of that 53 percent of Americans who want to send our young people back to the sandbox labor under the mistaken belief that our military is a well-oiled machine that will make mincemeat out of ISIS. I would warn these people that our military is actually pretty ragged—under-funded, undertrained, and sorely lacking in the morale department. Most importantly, it’s been wussified—forced by politicians and general officers to become the “kindler gentler military” Stephanie Gutmann warned of fifteen years ago in her seminal book by the same name. If you haven’t read it, you need to.
Slashed military budgets have shrunken our armed forces. The US Army is now the smallest it’s been since before World War II and the US Navy the smallest since before World War I. We’re still asking this skeleton crew to keep the sea lanes open and to hold down the fort in Korea, something we didn’t ask of them in our pre-superpower era.
Morale continues its descent into the abyss. In 2014, the Military Times
commissioned a survey of 2,300 military members to gage their satisfaction with military life—with bleak results. Only 56 percent of troops agreed with the statement “Overall my quality of life is good,” compared to 91 percent who said the same thing in 2009. Seventy percent of troops agreed with the statement that “quality of life will decline in coming years.” Only 27 percent said that officers in senior leadership positions had the rank-and-file’s best interest at heart—a clear indicator that careerism is having a corrosive effect on the military. As journalist Hope Hodge Seck wrote in the Military Times: “Today’s service members say they feel underpaid, under-equipped and under-appreciated, the survey data show.”

There's more at the link.  Read the whole thing.  The author says this is not the Army they joined in 1999.  It sure as hell isn't the Army I first joined in 1995.  There will come a point where the military, having been transformed into a social justice project, will not be able to win the wars America needs it to win.

But as fewer and fewer people have any experience with the military, they don't care.  Just as long as gays and women can openly serve in the Infantry, right?  That's the REAL important measure.

Listened to the debate last night.

The CNN moderators wanted the candidates to fight.  Trump and Bush obliged them.  Trump vs Cruz not so much.  Very smart.

Bush came off looking pissy, bitchy and entitled.  I wouldn't be shocked if his numbers went down.

Rubio did OK.  Carson did better than his other debates.  Trump and Cruz mostly helped themselves. Everybody else was just eating up time.

All in all, I expect to see the top three remain the top three.  I expect to see Jeb sink even further.

Tuesday, December 15, 2015

Debate tonight

What are the odds that Trump tries to unload on Cruz?  And gets his ass handed to him?

What are the odds that Cruz just smiles and goes after Hillary?

Can anyone explain to me why half the field is even in the race?  Lindsey Graham is still running?  He's the more feminized John McCain, he's got no chance.  And I'm pretty sure that even he knows it.  So other than being a stalking horse for Bush, what the hell is he there for?

Trump, Cruz and Carson take up over 50% of the support right now.  The GOP is shitting kittens.  And I'm laughing my ass off.

I had seen this before

But forgot where I found it, until I found it somewhere else.

The three truths about Islam that you probably didn't know.

"Religion of Peace" my white hairy ass.

Sunday, December 13, 2015

OK, was Rudyard Kipling a prophet?

Or is there any subject he did not write a poem about that cuts straight to the heart of the matter?

The Stranger within my gates,
He may be evil or good,
But I cannot tell what powers control--
  What reasons sway his mood;
Nor when the Gods of his far-off land
   Shall repossess his blood.

-or scream "ALLAHU ACKBAR!" and blow themselves up in the children's play area of your local mall.

Well, Kipling spent a ton of time in India, which means he was spending time tromping around the area which would become Pakistan.  Yes, Pakistan was once part of the country of India.  Guess why it broke off?
