Two more handprints

One on the face of John Fonda Kerry, and one to the collective face of the tranzi Left.

Let's start with Kerry first, shall we? Because there's yet another veterans group coming out against him: Viet Nam Special Forces Against Kerry.

In retrospect one must in reality question why Kerry filmed his supposed escapades in Vietnam, a tactic that obviously smacks of exploitation and calculation. I spent one year in Vietnam as a combat veteran and I never saw any soldier carry an 8-mm camera. If John really wanted to do something important why didn't he document with his camera all the atrocities he said that he witnessed and were committed by the hoards of Ghengis Khan he so blatantly accused in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 1971? The murdering, rapists ....Your fathers, sons, friends, and relatives, our young fighting men who fought with so much bravery because they loved America! Where was his bravery then? He was so against the war what better chance to prove his accusations but on film? No his real reasons for carrying that camera have become very obvious to most veterans and to many Americans. John Kerry is into only one thing and that's John Kerry's political aspirations. THINK AMERICA!

Back in September 2002, Kerry told then-New York Times columnist (now executive editor) Bill Keller "I have no intention of using" his Vietnam home movies, which Kerry shot with an 8-mm camera, for campaign purposes. But contrary to that promise, those films have been used in Kerry’s TV ads and were heavily featured during the Democratic convention. Can you say Flip Flop? No I'm tired of that idiotic name for what John Kerry does, the real word is called LYING.

Ouch. That's GOTTA hurt!

And the handprint on the left's face? Well, specifically those on the left who claim that since we had inspectors in Iraq, he couldn't have made any nuclear weapons.

Here's a clue to those idiots: Inspections don't work.

Iraq War critics have argued that Saddam's uranium stockpile was safe because it was subject to once-a-year inspection by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

But the IAEA was also in charge of monitoring North Korea's nuclear program right up until 2002, when Pyongyang announced it would begin producing nuclear weapons.

Tell me again how Saddam couldn't do anything, just like North Korea?

(slap slap slap!) Both slaps brought to you by Steve.

The Iranians have themselves a new toy

While the EU dicks around:

Iran's defense ministry said on Wednesday it had carried out a field test of the latest version of its Shahab-3 medium-range ballistic missile which defense experts say can reach Israel or U.S. bases in the Gulf.

Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani said last week Iran was working on improvements to the range and accuracy of the Shahab-3 in response to Israel's moves to boost its anti-missile capability.
How will you know when Iran is really close to having missiles that can carry nukes?

When Israel bombs them, I guess .

The hat

James Lileks has a few word about Kerry & Cambodia.

If Kerry’s story is a lie, it’s significant, but not because we have a gotcha moment – gee, a politician reworked the truth to his advantage, big surprise. This is much larger than that. This is like Bush insisting that he flew an intercept mission with the Texas Air National Guard to repel Soviet bombers based in Cuba, and later stating that this event was “seared in his memory – seared” because it taught him the necessity of standing up against evil governments, such as the ones we face today. In other words, it would not only be a lie, but one that eroded the political persona he was relying upon in the election. Kerry has made Vietnam central to his campaign. If he’s making crap up, it matters. But the story of the CIA agent he ferried into the Heart of Darkness gives the gotcha a curious twist; as lawyers say on TV courtroom dramas, it goes to state of mind. What sort of man bedecked with genuine decorations feels compelled to manufacture a story like this one?
I agree with Lileks when he says, in effect:

"A politican lied. Wow."

But this story does illuminate the scene nicely, doesn't it? Kerry's campaign threatened to sue any station that ran the Swiftboat ad. Someone hacked into Barnes and Noble and changed the ad for the book. DNC hitmen have threatened to reveal divorce and other personal information about the Swiftboat vets. The Boston Globe ran a story (that was then picked up by wire services) that claimed one of the vets had retracted his claims about Kerry. That turned out to be errant. No front page spot for the vets in the NYT or WaPo yet.

Three things seem clear:

a) John Kerry will say anything in front of those adoring throngs on the campaign trail,

b) John Kerry believes no one else is paying attention to his proclamations, and

c) in the case of Major Media, he's right about b).

Dunno.

Maybe Major Media are part of his adoring throngs.

Albert Gore III

Poor John Kerry. He just can't stop lying!

Your assignement for this evening

Print this out, copy it, and forcefeed it to the first idiot to brays about a "stolen election" or "selected not elected".

The Commission's report failed to note that elections in Florida are the responsibility of 67 county supervisors of election. And, in all but one of the 25 counties with the highest ballot spoilage rates, the election was supervised by a Democrat-the one exception being an official with no party affiliation. In fact, most of the authority over elections in Florida resides with officials in the state's 67 counties, and all of those with the highest rates of voter error were under Democratic control.

Of the 25 Florida counties with the highest rate of vote spoilage, in how many was the election supervised by a Republican? The answer is zero. All but one of the 25 had Democratic chief election officers, and the one exception was in the hands of an official with no party affiliation.

The majority report argues that much of the spoiled ballot problem was due to voting technology. But elected Democratic Party officials decided on the type of machinery used, including the optical scanning system in Gadsden County, the state's only majority-black county and the one with the highest spoilage rate.

So much for the Vast Right Wing Conspieracy disenfranchising voters. Kinda hard to toss out ballots when you're not in charge of doing the tossing out!

Both the Miami Herald and Palm Beach Post "hardly bastions of Republicanism" as Harris has pointed out found that, if anything, county officials were too permissive in whom they let vote, and this largely was to the benefit of Al Gore.

In November 2001, a ballot-by-ballot analysis by a consortium of newspapers (the media consortium included The Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Tribune Company, The Washington Post, The Associated Press, The St. Petersburg Times, The Palm Beach Post and CNN. The group hired the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago in January to examine the ballots) shows that Bush would have won the election clean if he'd let Florida go ahead with the partial recount that Gore wanted.

Wham, bam, thank you very much. Found via The Rott.

Saudi Government Cleared in 911 Commission Report

At least that's how Kelley Beaucar Vlahos of Fox News reads it. I haven't come across it yet in my reading, and I don't know Kelley so I'll follow up on this with some cites from the report when I come across them. If anyone wishes to post excerpts in the comments, I'll include them as I follow up.

"Nonetheless, last month's release of the Sept. 11 commission report vindicated the Saudi government of any role in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks upon the United States.

The Big Greasy Crap Monster's lie fest attempted to implicate the Saudi Government in the attacks of 9/11. If Vlahos is right, and the report clears them, I am not suprised. No one should be. First of all, 4F is the biggest of liars. Second, the Saudi government is one of the primary targets of Usama's Al Qaeda. One of their goals is to replace the rulers of the the "holiest of muslim lands" with rulers that they consider true to their brand of Islam.

The left have set Saudi Arabia up as scape goat for the 911 attacks. They've deluded their supporters into this position. The Saudi's are irresponsible in my opinion. Until recently, they've done little to curb the rise of radical Islam in their midst even encouraging those eminations in the spirit of freedom with reckless disregard for what happens when such rhetoric resonates among those of hostile temperment. They enjoy our money. Destroying us would put a dent in that bit of give and take. Usama doesn't mind. It's his position that the current Saudi rulers can join us. Were the Donks to run the show, there would be little support among their constituency for the current leadership in SA. If they fall, who do you think will attempt to fill the void? Who do you think will stop them? I suppose that depends on who the CIC is when the shit hits the fan.

Kerry's Newest Flip Flip On Iraq

Are you an anti-war candidate? "Yes" says the Flipper. Not anymore! Now, he would have voted the same knowing what he knows now.....or so he says. We'll see which way the winds blow tomorrow. He also had questions about "rushing to war"........where was he during our history with Iraq. We have video of his flippy flopping over the years.....does he wake up in the morning with no knowledge of his past like in the movies? Of course not. He just says whatever he thinks will make the most people happy with him on any given day. He did vote to authorize the war.....before he admitted to being an "anti-war candidate" before he voted against funding for our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.....before he said he would have voted to authorize war. And that's just a portion of his waffling. There is a whole video of his idiotic contortions on the subject. He also blubbered something about "faulty intelligence". Surely he couldn't be referring to Joe Wilson's lies about Saddam's attempt to purchase yellow cake. Perhaps he was referring to charges that Bush knowingly used bad intel, but then he'd have to be dumb enough to have completely ignored the Senate Intelligence Committee's Report on intelligence leading to OIF that cleared President Bush of any wrong doing. Of course he threw in something about not letting France, Germany, Russia, and friends run the show. He ignored the Russian President's admission that they warned us about Hussein's regime plotting attacks on the U.S. and generally bloviated like any vapid, lying, inconsistent, power mad jackass would. Business as usual for Flipper.

My how I yearn...

...to have Europeans vet our foreign policy decisions.

Ouch!

My ClashPoint is this: John Kerry’s political track record is what you should be eyeballing. You see, it’s not just his grinning would-be Veep; not his Hollywood hepatitis C crowd; not his Jurassic rock stars. It’s not even his ‘Nam war films [which we now know Kerry himself shot during staged re-enactments of the action]. It’s what he has stood for, the last two decades, the ultra-left record of his time in the U.S. Senate.

You know, the facts that he has so ardently tried to hide, and not his current “look the other way” fabrications. Facts like: over the last 20 years Senator Kerry has voted again and again to cut spending on the military and on the intelligence services, in stark contrast to his “I will be strong militarily” bluster.

No you won’t, Senator. You never have been and never will be.

Sometimes I laugh at our visitors from the Left.

This guy Mikelx seems like a decent sort of a fellow, though warped politically. I think if a Leftist guy or gal shows up here talking in a relatively civil tone, without trolling, we should act hospitably toward him or her.

You know?

I am, however, always amazed when people like him say "Bush has to malign Kerry because he cannot run on his record!" and then when you ask them to elaborate, all they can do is malign Bush. Some Bush voters will vote Bush because he ain't Kerry. Some Kerry voters will vote Kerry because he ain't Bush. Why do the Left spend so much time saying the former is lame when they practice the latter?

Red. Curtain. Of. Blood.

The next time someone says "Oh, that won't happen here in America", tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine.

More Kerry Lies? Who woulda thunk it?

Powerline has the down and dirty details. Here's a recap:

If there is a consistent[ly] repeated story by John Kerry about his Vietnam experience, it is his story about how he and his boat spent Christmas Eve and Christmas of 1968 illegally present in Cambodia and, listening to President Nixon's contrary assurances, developed "a deep mistrust of U.S. government pronouncements." See Exhibit 24, Kranish book, p. 84. The point of his story was that his government and his commanders were lying about Kerry's presence in Cambodia on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. During a critical debate on the floor of the United States Senate on March 27, 1986, Senator John Kerry said:
Mr. President, I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the President of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia.

I have that memory which is seared -- seared -- in me . . . .

Exhibit 25, Congressional Record - Senate of March 27, 1986, page 3594.

By way of further example, Kerry wrote an article for the Boston Herald on October 14, 1979:

"I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."

See Exhibit 26.

The Christmas in Cambodia story of John Kerry was repeated as recently as July 7, 2004 by Michael Kranish, a principal biographer of Kerry from The Boston Globe. On the Hannity & Colmes television show, Kranish indicated that Kerry's Christmas in Cambodia was a critical turning point in Kerry's life.

The big problem? It's all bullshit.

The story is a total preposterous fabrication by Kerry. Exhibit 8 is an affidavit by the Commander of the Swift boats in Vietnam, Admiral Roy Hoffmann, stating that Kerry's claim to be in Cambodia for Christmas Eve and Christmas of 1968 is a total lie. If necessary, similar affidavits are available from the entire chain of command. In reality, Kerry was at Sa Dec -- easily locatable on any map more than fifty miles from Cambodia.

By the way.... Guess who was president in 1968? It wasn't Nixon. It was LBJ. Another lie from Kerry.

This guy is slimier than a leech, and more dangerous.

Interesting news

Now that the Kerry Smear Campaign is trying to figure out how to smear the SwiftVets for Truth, I wonder what they're going to say about this?

Prior to the Democratic national convention in Boston, journalists in both mainstream and ethnic press queried Vietnamese in the United States and in Vietnam on their views of the two presidential candidates. The contrast is startling.

Back in the United States, however, residents like Pauline Tran in Fairfax, Va. said that she would vote for Bush. Kerry, she said, was an anti-war activist and was part of the reason why South Vietnam was defeated. Others said they will vote for Bush to punish Kerry.

In a Cali Today poll, 90 percent of Vietnamese Americans said they would vote for Bush, and only 10 percent said they would vote for Kerry.

The people who fled Viet Nam after the fall of Saigon know who caused the USA to lose the war. They know who stabbed both our troops and them in the back.

Lemme give ya a guess. His name starts with "J" and ends with "Kerry".

Who can tell me about this?

Went to an auction last night. Bought this :

Can anyone help me understand what it is?

The plaques at the bottom read:

R. W. Axel J. Hallbeck

and

Master 1927
Balder Lodge no. 1053 F.A.M.

Hallbeck's name is on a plaque behind the glass. The Lodge information is on a plaque affixed to the frame. They could be unrelated.

Balder Lodge Nbr. 1053 is in Brooklyn.

My searches for Axel Hallbeck have been fruitless.

The seal, or emblem, in the middle of the pennant is a remarkable piece of handiwork.

Note the steamwheeler (is that the correct term?) in the background.

The only thing I have found close to this are some Civil War Era flags from regiments in Illinois. I doubt this is that old; it's in very good condition. The pennant measures about 16" across and 12" top to bottom, though it is possible that some of it is folded inside the frame (a shadowbox).

Any guess on how to track the origin of this thing?

Email me or, preferably, leave something in the comments.

Disgusting

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then here are nine thousand words to describe the virulent hatred that jews face in New Zealand.

Foul, despicable, cowardly, hateful, any words I write cannot do justice to the depths of corruption that these people have sunk to.

Stryker Vehicles

I wasn't too keen on the Stryker vehicles the Army is forwarding now, but after reading this soldier's account, I may have to change my mind.

Today I walked around the motor pool and tried to figure out how many Strykers got hit by RPG's, from what I gathered from the motor pool and from talking to everybody I knew that was there, it looks like over 50% of all the vehicles that drove down that main street, took at least 1 RPG. Most took more than one. And almost all of them are totally serviceable. We have 4 vehicles in my PLT, 4 Squads per Plt. Each Sqd rides on each vehicle. 2 out of the 4 vehicles in my Plt got hit by RPG's. Both vehicles in my Plt took 3 RPG's each. One of the vehicles in my Plt that took an RPG, had its engine catch on fire from the Impact, the SAW gunner from 3rd Squad, grabbed a fire extinguisher, stuck his body out of the hatch and extinguished the fire, under fire. My driver counted 4 RPG's flying past our vehicle. A Stryker in another Plt took 7 RPG's that day, which blew out all 8 rubber tires, and it was still able to Continue Mission with no tires and drive on, out of the kill zone. Do you think a Gavin 113 could do that? Speed the hell out of a Kill zone with no tracks?

This soldier also has something to say about the "objective" media coverage in Iraq.

What angered me the most the other day was how inaccurate and very little press coverage the attack recieved. They all got it completely wrong. CNN, Al Jazzera, BBC, all of them. Cnn only reported 12 dead??? I told my friend from another Plt that and he said, "Shit! We killed 12 people in the first three minutes." I still wonder why, what happened the other day, over 100 crazed out Al Qaeda jihadist wearing all black and high off the Koran, attacking US Forces with everything they had received very little to no press in all the major news outlets???? It seems to me something like that should be major news. And you also have to wonder how many times something like this happens here in Iraq, where all hell will break loose, and there will be very little to no talk of it whatsoever. They only devoted two fucking paragraphs to that story that happened the other day, I had to fuckin search all over Cnn's site site to find that little bit about what happened, and it totally made it sound like nothing major happened here??? That is complete bullshit. Makes you kinda wonder.

Light posting weekend

I'm going to be on a sailboat in the Puget Sound for the next couple of days, so don't expect too many posts from me. In the grand tradition of navies the world over, I'm either going to be hauling in sails, or drinking until I can't remember my own name. Oh, and I'm doing some crab fishing as well.

It's gonna be a fun weekend!

UPDATE: Well, scratch the sailing. It's raining cats and dogs right now. Kinda hard to go for a sail when the sails are too wet to catch any wind. Plus, drying sails out on a wet dock just doesn't work. Grrrrrrr...

A-Man should count his lucky stars he left when he did. If he thought it was cold before, he'd be freezing his pecker off right now.

Also Last Night...

...as the Raging Girlfriend was getting her drawl on, one of God's most enthralling creations was bearing down upon the Slimy Homestead:

Quite intriguing: a pillow of cool air arrived first, followed by three lines of light white winding cloud, almost like bumpers for the front, then this nasty looking dark blue and grey cloud bank. All the while, little white puffy miniclouds were scudding across the sky a few thousand feet below everything else, speeding southeast like race cars against the backdrop of the big and plodding storm system.

Then of course the microburst arrived with its blustery sheets of cold big drop rain.

No, you're right. The pictures don't do the justice to the power of such a phenomenon.

Last night

I was fortunate enough to have a beer with this grouchy old coot last night. Took the Raging Girlfriend down to meet him at the inn he and Recondo32 were staying. Had a pleasant conversation, drank a few beers, and had a good time all in all.

However, in the few hours we were chatting the Raging Girlfriend managed to re-aquire her Southern accent. She had lived in Texas many years ago, and the accent still pops up whenever she's around someone else from the South or Southwest.

She also managed to re-aquire a few euphamisms as well. It was raining when we woke up this morning, and the first words out of her mouth were "Dear g-d, it's pissin' poodles out there!"

Thanks Rob.

More Capitalism

Hey there, everybody! You might remember this post where I complained about the shortage of funds in the Raging Household. I thought I might clarify it a bit.

I'm not broke because of bad luck. I'm not broke because God doesn't love my anymore. I'm broke because I'm doing an assload of things all at one time.

I've got two weddings to go to this year, (there goes $$$$$$$ for plane tickets and travel expenses!) and it was MY decision to go. I've been slowing amassing gifts for family members (and when your dad lets slip his long-standing desire for a repeating rifle in 30-30, you DO NOT SKIMP ON QUALITY!) and so on and so forth. So I wanted to thank all of you who wrote or commented about tips jars and the like, but since I'm broke of my own voalition, I really don't want to take anyone else's money. My choices, my responsibilities.

Besides, it's so much more fun to earn it! Capitalism strikes again!

So, if ya wanna help out, here's what you do - You pick one of the two stickers below to be printed. They both mean the same thing, one is just a longer version. I'll get the winning sticker sent to the printers, where I'll wait for another month and a half, banging my head on my keyboard until they get here.

(great prices from that place, but the turnaround time sucks unless you buy thousands of stickers, which I don't). Anyways, here they are!

Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum - If you wish peace, prepare for War

And the slightly longer version: Qui Desiridat Pacem, Preperat Bellum - He who wishes for peace, let him prepare for war.

Any suggestions are also welcomed. These will be 8.5 inches by 1.38 inches, fairly long and thin. Let me know which one you like.

I love capitalism!

Another Rant I Wish I'd Written

But what do you expect from a blog called "Cold Fury?

You want a little taste?

“You show endless repeats of that panty-on-the-head video because it’s awful and Americans have a right to know the whole truth, but atrocities committed by our enemies are carefully hidden away. Hell, you won’t even show footage of 9/11 anymore because Americans might actually remember it and wonder who the hell’s side you’re on in the first place. Shit, you people don’t even have the stones to show videos of Islamist whackjob imams calling for our destruction at wholesale rates in mosques all over the world. But if Falwell offered Muslims the choice between conversion or violent death you’d be all over it with both feet—and you’d blame Bush for the fact that Falwell was nuts.

“You complain about divisiveness and uncivil discourse, but Bush is a Nazi and all Republicans are extremist right-wing religious maniacs. You call Dick Cheney Bush’s “hitman” but Howard Dean is just a reasonable Democrat floating interesting ideas about terror alerts. Israelis are genocidal monsters for building a security fence to keep murderers from their midst, but the Palestinian killers they’re trying to thwart are ‘militants.’ Terrorists in Iraq trying to kill not only our servicemen and women but any civilians they can get within machete’s reach of are ‘gunmen’ or ‘extremists’—when a handful of you aren’t gushing outright about how they’re no different from George Washington. Memo to the Republican Party - Get Mike to write some speechs for Rumsfeld or Ridge. And I mean like YESTERDAY!

GrrrrGrowlSnarl

I'm in a foul mood, folks. And I mean a REALLY foul mood. Just to warn you, I may be in a foul mood until the end of October. It's that foul. It's "so pissed off that lightbulbs pop as I walk past" kinda angry, OK?

Why, you ask? Let me $&^*#@% tell you why.

John Olerud just signed with the DAMN YANKEES!

I'm so pissed off at the Mariners right now I might just stop watching their games. Dropping Big Rude off the roster was the worst fucking possible move they could have made. What was their excuse? "Oh, he has a .245 batting average!" AND?!?!?! Let's take a look at the rest of your roster, shall we? Of all the people on that list, I only see ONE person above .300 (Ichiro), and only THREE people who are even close! And of those three people who are close ONLY ONE OF THEM IS A REGULAR STARTER!

So you drop Big Rude because of his batting average, and yet Edgar Martinez is only a few points higher, but he can't run, can't play any position, and can't hit anymore! You keep the old guy with no legs, but you let go a player who sucks up any baseball that comes within six feet of him? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING, YOU BUMBLING MORONS????? I'm still not convinced that John Olerud doesn't have his own gravitational field, because he makes catches at first base that any other player in the game can only DREAM of! Yeah, how's that infield doing now, Bill Bavasi? How the fuck is it doing now that you dumped the anchor? How many balls got thrown away because the newest schmuck to play first base CAN'T FUCKING CATCH? How many more errors do you have now? WAY TOO MANY, but you don't give a shit do you?

Grrrrrrrrrrr! And the worst part is, I won't be able to root against the Yankees this fall. Because Olerud deserves another ring. He's the best damn defensive first baseman in the American Leagues, and Seattle gave him the shitty end of the stick. Big Rude deserved much better treatment than what the Mariners gave him. His batting average might not have been what it was two years ago, but without him at first, our infield is flat out sucking like a ten dollar whore on payday.

So expect me to be pissed off this fall.

Dear god, please let the NFL season start soon.

Linky Love

Just some links I found around the web that I wanted to share.

First - WHAT. THE. HELL?

Texas cops thought they'd made a major drug bust when they raided a home northwest of Houston last Tuesday. After all, it looked like there were huge marijuana plants growing in the front yard.

"All of a sudden, they burst in with their guns loaded, pointing at me, screaming, 'Get on the floor! Get on the floor!'" northwest Harris County resident Blair Davis told KHOU-TV.

It turns out the tall plants with the narrow leaves arranged in a fan pattern weren't pot plants at all, but specimens of Texas Star hibiscus, which Davis grows for his landscaping business.

How in the name of all that is holy can a LAW ENFORCEMENT DRUG TASK FORCE mistake a LANDSCAPING PLANT with MARIJUANA?!?!?!?! The two are barely similar looking! What kind of fucked-up crap are they doing down in Texas, folks? If this is the sort of work that is normal for the Houston police, I think they should all either be fired or sent to remedial class! And the chief should have his balls cut off for allowing such an ignorant group of morons to be cops!

Don't believe me? Here's a webpage on the Texas Star Hibiscus. It has pictures. Take a good look. Does that look like dope to you?

If someone tried to tell me that was marijuana, I'd laugh at them. In my basic drug and alcohol detention class we learned what crap looked like. Has the city of Houston neglected to send their officers to this very basic 40 hour course? I guess they have. Grrrrrrrrrr... thanks for giving cops yet ANOTHER bad name, you stupid fuckweasels!

In other news, it looks like the feds are revamping their food pyramid in order to make us all healthier.

Oh joy.

How's this for an idea: STAY THE HELL OUT OF OUR LIVES! The only thing you should put out is this very simple fact - if you eat more calories than you use up in a day, YOU'LL GET FAT! The government shouldn't be telling me what to eat! The government shouldn't be telling anyone what their "optimum" weight is! I haven't been at my optimum weight since 1997, and yet I'm not fat! My body fat percentage hovers between 15% and 18%. (The Army's maximum allowance for my age and highth is 24%, just to give you a point of reference.) On the goverment's body mass index, MICHAEL JORDAN WOULD BE OVERWEIGHT!

Fuck the government, and fuck the idiotic shit-licking beurocratic parasites who make this crap up to justify sucking their paycheck from the public coffers! Grrrr!

One last thing - In reference to the state of Missouri passing a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage: This guy gets it.

The supporters of gay marriage had to push., and now they are getting pushed back. There was no reason for the Mayor of San Francisco to suddenly decide that the State law banning gay marriage was illegal and being issuing licenses. There was no reason for the County Commissioners in Multnomah and Benton Counties in Oregon to do the same. It was a push. It was the embodiment of that silly protest chant. "What do we want? (fill in the blanks) When do we want it? Now! Evidently the chanting broke something in the reasoning department of the gay marriage supporters thinking.

Rather than seeking to persuade, they sought to impose. Rather than having it now, they have delayed the day when they achieve it.
(emphasis mine)

Bingo.

BREAKING NEWS ! ! ! !

Lance Armstrong stripped of his Tour de France title ! !

Six-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong is reportedly being stripped of his record sixth Tour de France victory. In a random check of his hotel room, race authorities found three substances that have been officially banned by the French: toothpaste, deodorant, and soap.

Will whomever has...

...Jimmy Carter Nobel award please return it. Or burn it, whatever.

I noted this excerpt: "It said communist North Korea had acquired the know-how during the 1990s...".

The Presidents Clinton were busy with Microsoft, Bosnia, and the Marlboro Man while North Korea built a ballistic missile submarine. Goddamnit.

Kill the IRS??? HELL YEAH!

I've been chewing on this bit of news for a while, giving it the "48 hour" rule. (Wait 48 hours after the news hits - if it doesn't change, it's probably true). Technically, it's only been 24 hours, but the news doesn't seem to be shifting at all.

I'm still thinking it over. Not in the way of "Gee, is this a good idea", but more in the way of "Once we kill all the IRS employees, what will we do with the building?"

In all seriousness, I can't think of any reason not to abolish the Federal Income Tax. What I'm worried about is that some fucknozzle socialist in Congress will impliment something worse. Look to Europe for examples.

I say scrap the income tax, and institute a flat sales tax on new items. That way, any money put into savings or retirement accounts isn't taxed. Money invested isn't taxed. And when people pay their taxes (when they buy things) they'll be forced to recognise just how much Uncle Sam is taking.

For a more in depth look at things, I give you the one and only Francis Porretto: A New Hope and Counsels of Despair.

Wow

Someone using Yahoo! actually surfed to a one year old 4RWWs post called "Tumult at the Beach" today.

Imagine someone some surfing for Wind Powered Turbine + John Kerry and finding us.

Beaten about the Head and Shoulders

I loved Gregg Easterbrook when he was writing for ESPN. He never pulled any punches, and he reviled both political parties with an almost inhuman glee. Reading his pieces was a highlight of every Tuesday.

Now that he's writing for The New Republic, he still rips into people like no one else.

In the new Atlantic Monthly, Eric Alterman notes that Laurie David, wife of Larry David--among Hollywood's wealth elite owing to "Seinfeld" royalties--has become an influential environmental crusader, but herself travels in chartered Gulfstream jets. Laurie David has organized numerous celebrity save-the-environment events and "reviles the owners of SUVs as terrorist enablers, yet gives herself a pass when it comes to chartering one of the most wasteful uses of fossil-based fuels imaginable," a private jet, Alterman writes. I did a few quick calculations. The mid-sized Gulfstream G200 model can carry about 2,100 gallons of jet fuel, which is made from petroleum, and would burn around 1,200 to 1,500 gallons flying from New York to Los Angeles, depending on wind speed and how many passengers were aboard. A Hummer driven 15,000 miles, the average put on a car per year, would burn around 1,250 gallons of gasoline. So for Laurie David to take one cross-country flight in a Gulfstream is the same, in terms of Persian-Gulf dependence and greenhouse-gas emissions, as if she drove a Hummer for an entire year. But then, conservation is what other people should do.

Heinz Kerry: Four More Years of 'Hell' if Bush Wins

I like the part where she proclaims "Three More Months!!!".

No one told her inaugurations happen in January. I am beginning to think that Turaysuh just ain't very bright.

Good news from Iraq

This is long, long, LONG. If you can, peep it all. If you must, skim it.

But be advised: herein lies a lot of stuff NO ONE ELSE is reporting. You really MUST click the link and take a look.

We'd be witnessing the birth of an Arab Democracy, if only our media would show it to us.

The STOMACH of STEEL!

I don't know how he did it, but Noel of Sharp Knife managed to fisk quite a bit of John Fonda Kerry's acceptance speech. I couldn't have done it without vomiting continuously for hours.

Noel, you're a better man than I am, or at least you don't have as strong a gag reflex.

John Fonda Kerry, fisked, a two part act.

Great stuff.

This is why I love blogs

Never would have heard of this otherwise, and never would have been able to let loose a half day of steam at some poor Customer Service rep otherwise.
Subway™ has now committed commercial seppuku with their latest ad campaign in their German franchises, consisting of a tray liner promoting the "movie" Super-Size Me! along with a crude drawing of an obscenely obese Statue of Liberty holding an order of fries and a hamburger.

Oh, and the headline (in German) is to DIE for (in a corporate sense):

Are you kidding me? Is this REALLY what the government needs to be dealing with? Hell no!

To my friends in Boston

The Red Sox traded away "Mr. Boston".

WHAT! THE! FUCK?!?!?!

If Boston doesn't win the World Series this year, I want to see Mr. Theo Epstein walking out of his office with all his crap in a cardboard box! Sure, let's keep the whiny left-fielder who flirted with the Yankees. Let's keep the tempermental ace who may or may not show up at next year's training camp. Let's get rid of the five time All-Star who loves Boston and wanted to stay!

It's almost as sad as what happened to my Mariners! (By the way, John, if you do sign with the Yankees, I'll forgive you.)

Ug. At least the Seahawks start their training camp this week. I have something to look forward to.

The Bounceless Convention

What happens when you mouth a speech that promises reduced deficits, but gives no specifics, that promises improvement in Iraq, but gives no specifics, that promises univeral access to health care, but gives no specifics?

Nothing, apparently.

His Record on Defense is Offensive

Just a little update on John Fonda Kerry's voting records in regards to National Defense. Just so we're all on the same page, here are many of the things he voted against.

When first running for his Senate seat in 1984, Kerry explained carefully that he was firmly against such mainstays of the defense establishment as the B-1 bomber, B-2 stealth bomber, AH-64 Apache helicopter, Patriot missile, the F-15, F-14A and F-14D jets, the AV-8B Harrier jet, the Aegis air-defense cruiser, and the Trident missile system.

He also ran on a platform of cutting back on the M1 Abrams tank, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the Tomahawk cruise missile, and the F-16

Now that we're all up to speed, let's see what else people have found in the Public Records:

In 1991 Kerry voted to cut defense spending by 2 percent. Only 21 other senators voted with Kerry, and the defense cut was defeated.

In 1991, Kerry voted to cut over $3 billion from defense and shift the funds to social programs. Only 27 senators joined Kerry in voting for the defense cut.

In 1992, Kerry voted to cut $6 billion from defense. Republicans and Democrats alike successfully blocked this attempt to cut defense spending.

In 1993, Kerry voted against increased defense spending for a military pay raise.

In 1993, Kerry introduced a plan to cut the number Of Navy submarines and their crews; reduce tactical fighter wings in the Air Force; terminate the Navy’s coastal mine-hunting ship program; force the retirement of 60,000 members of the armed forces in one year; and reduce the number of light infantry units in the Army down to one. The plan was DOA.

In 1995, Kerry voted to freeze defense spending for seven years, cutting over $34 billion from defense. Only 27 other senators voted with Kerry.

In 1996, Kerry introduced a bill to cut Defense Department funding by $6.5 billion. Kerry’s bill had no co-sponsors and never came to a floor vote.

In 1996, Kerry voted yes on a fiscal 1996 budget resolution – a defense freeze that would have frozen defense spending for the next seven years and transferred the $34.8 billion in savings to education and job training. The resolution was rejected 28-71.

And yet he wants us to trust him with our National Defense? No thanks. The idea of our military being reduces to feel-good programs and naked men with sticks just kinda bothers me, ya know?

If you think Clinton killed the military, then the thought of a Kerry presidency should scare you shitless.

Nice "Lunch" There, John!

Dave let us know in the comments to this thread that the so called "lunch" that the two Johns had at a Wendy's Restaurant in Newburgh was even more of a shameless photo op than I first suspected.

A member of the Kerry advance team called Nikola’s Restaurant at the Newburgh Yacht Club the night before and ordered 19 five-star lunches to go that would be picked up at noon Friday. Management at the restaurant, which is operated by CIA graduate chef Michael Dederick, was told the meals would be for the Kerry and Edwards families and actor Ben Affleck who was with them on the tour.

The gourmet meals to go included shrimp vindallo, grilled diver sea scallops, prosciutto, wrapped stuffed chicken, and steak salad. The meals came to about $200.

Real "Man of the People" there, John.

And I can't tell from the article, but it looks like Kerry and his crew stiffed another restaurant all together.

The entourage had also expected to stop at the Alexis Diner at Route 9W and North Plank Road in the Town of Newburgh. In fact, the Kerry advance team had ordered 125 lunches for the team and supporters. Their buses drove right by the diner on I-84 and proceeded straight to Wendy’s.

Now, even if the Kerry team paid for those lunches, it takes up time and effort to whip out 125 lunches, only to have to toss them away.

Yeah, REAL "Man of the People" there. I can't wait to see what he does for an encore.

More revealing quotes

About John Fonda Kerry

(July 30th)John Kerry said Friday he would put Osama bin Laden on trial in U.S. courts rather than an international tribunal to ensure the "fastest, surest route" to a murder conviction if the terrorist mastermind is captured while he is president.

Put him on trial? I thought that just killing him would be the proper response. But maybe I'm too "simplistic". I mean, OBL has only admitted and bragged about being the head of Al-Qaeda, masterminding the 9-11 hijackings, and is a known terrorist. But gee, let's put him on trial. That's assuming he isn't currently a smear on a cave wall in Tora-Bora. And what do you expect from a man who says crap like this:

Let there be no mistake: I will never hesitate to use force when it is required. Any attack will be met with a swift and certain response.

That one quote says it all. Rather than prevent an attack by taking out terrorists whenever possible, John Fonda Kerry will sit back and let an attack happen before he'll actually do something about it.

That is the Democrat philosophy. That is their forign policy in a nutshell. Only do something AFTER thousands of Americans (or more, g-d forbid) have died. Don't do anything till then, because we wouldn't want to provoke the American hating genocidal madmen who have already declared war on us!

With all the problems I have with Bush, there's a simple reason why I will be voting for him. He wants to protect Americans. He believes in STOPPING any attacks from happening, before American lives are lost.

John Fonda Kerry will sit back and wait for the blow before he does anything. And he just admitted to it.

Many thanks to Cold Fury, LGF and Capitalist Lion.

Comparing The John Kerry Salute To The Bush Salute

The Democrats beg to differ.

Ya know, I threw "mine" away.

That isn't what he's saying to those Marines, but it's funny. Kerry pointing to medals on a soldiers chest when he threw "his" away. Depending on when you ask Flipper, they either were or weren't his medals. At the time they were, now they aren't. I wonder how many veterans have more pride in their medals than John "I don't fall down, that son of a bitch knocked me down." Kerry.

Anyway, that isn't what's going in the pic. Kerry thought he'd interupt the meal of a few unimpressed Marines.

"He imposed on us and I disagree with him coming over here shaking our hands," one of them told reporters afterwards. "I'm 100 percent against" Kerry, he said. "We support our commander-in-chief 100 percent."

Hat tip to Jettison at Blogs For Bush for the find and Duane at The Forest For The Trees for the title suggestion.

Birds Of A Lying Feather

Liar, Joe Wilson, is hailed as a valued member of the Kerry team with "integrity". That was on the 29th of July, well after the Senate report on intelligence leading to Operation Iraqi Freedom exposed that (according to Wilson's own investigation) Saddam had indeed tried to purchase enriched uranium (also called "yellow cake") from Niger despite the public blusterings in direct contradiction Wilson made upon his return. President Bush cited British intelligence claims that Saddam attempted to purchase the enriched uranium in his state of the union address. Since then and shortly before camp Kerry's foolish endorsement, a British investigation into the related intelligence found that ample evidence existed to support the claim.

This is what Flipper's crew consider's "integrity", folks. Remember that when they claim the President lied.

"Let's take a look now shall we?"

Puggs over at Random Nuclear Strikes analyzes John Kerry's salute.

Limp

Of course, every picture I can find where John Kerry is saluting someone, he's saluting campaign contributors. I cannot find any pictures of him with soldiers (not with him saluting anyway). Maybe it is bad form for a civilian to salute soldiers?

Dunno.

Or maybe he figures if he can marry for money, TWICE, he certainly can salute for it.

Hey! You!

Wanna be a hero?

Shamelssly stolen from Mrs. du Toit. Be warned, it's a time waster.

The Definitive John Kerry

If you can't watch this, read it!
John Kerry on Iraq
Come back when you get done.

Welcome back. Our nation's Leaders are its source of guidance and direction. Do we want leaders who recognize threats and act decisively to confront them, or do we want those who stick their fingers to the political winds before deciding whether or not to act in response to threats we face?

One is left to wonder whether Kerry would stay the course or cut and run. What type of respect does that show for those who have placed their lives on the line in response to the decisions of our leaders? Is their effort all for not? It's hard to tell when the want-to-be CIC can't even articulate whether or not he values their sacrafices to date. Does Kerry think liberating Iraq from Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do? I wouldn't believe him now no matter what he said. He is guilty, as is evident by HIS OWN WORDS (available in transcript and video footage at the link provided), of literally trying to have it both ways. One can not afford those statements the excuse of nuance.

What's on display in the link above is the blustering of an indecisive, power hungry partisan, Anti-War Protestor Democrat that is currently running for President of The United States. John Kerry is a not a leader. He is an opportunist and a liar. See ya in November, Donks!

Well GOLLY GEE GOSH!

How ever could I insist that the fat sack of shit known as Michael Moore is anti-American?

Hmmmmmmmmm.....

"If someone did this [9/11] to get back at Bush, then they did so by killing thousands of people who DID NOT VOTE for him! Boston, New York, D.C., and the planes' destination of California -- these were places that voted AGAINST Bush!" -- Michael Moore On 9/12/2001

"The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not "insurgents" or "terrorists" or "The Enemy." They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win."

"I would like to apologize for referring to George W. Bush as a 'deserter.' What I meant to say is that George W. Bush is a deserter, an election thief, a drunk driver, a WMD liar, and a functional illiterate. And he poops his pants"

"(Americans) are possibly the dumbest people on the planet ... in thrall to conniving, thieving, smug pr*cks. We Americans suffer from an enforced ignorance. We don’t know about anything that’s happening outside our country. Our stupidity is embarrassing.”

"On his North American tour in support of Dude, Where’s My Country, Moore substituted Canadians for Britons, telling audiences that the “dumbest Canadian” in attendance could surely outwit 'the smartest American.'"

"Should such an ignorant people (Americans) lead the world?"

"There's a gullible side to the American people. They can be easily misled. Religion is the best device used to mislead them."

"You know in my town the small businesses that everyone wanted to protect? They were the people that supported all the right-wing groups. They were the Republicans in the town, they were in the Kiwanas, the Chamber of Commerce - people that kept the town all white. The small hardware salesman, the small clothing store salespersons, Jesse the Barber who signed his name three different times on three different petitions to recall me from the school board. F*ck all these small businesses - f*ck 'em all! Bring in the chains. The small businesspeople are the rednecks that run the town and suppress the people. F*ck 'em all. That's how I feel

Gee, I dunno......

Yeah, I'm in a foul mood today. Living in Seattle will do that to you.

Oh. My. GOD!

I cannot believe that an elected offical can be so fucking worthless!

"I'd like to believe that there's enough common sense left in the world that disputes don't have to degenerate into a Showdown at the O.K. Corral. I'd like to believe that most women will choose to use basic common sense, such as traveling in large groups and only in well-lit, heavily populated areas, before resorting to violence on their own.”

Read that paragraph again. Do you hear that, ladies? Rather than being able to protect yourself, you should only travel in groups or in well lit areas. If you work or live in a bad part of town, I guess you're fucked. If you can't find a group of people to go to the store with you, I guess you're fucked. New Jersey Senate President Dick Codey doesn't want you to be able to defend yourself, you should just stay huddled in your house until the cops come to make the bad man stop!

WHAT A CROCK OF SHIT!

"It may just be that I've been a little preoccupied with the recent enactment of the (fiscal year) 2005 Budget, but I wasn't aware that, as the Second Amendment Sisters claim, society had gotten so bad that a woman's only hope to avoid violence is to carry around an Uzi and not be afraid to use it.

"That statement isn't exactly true, mind you, but gun advocacy groups, like the Second Amendment Sisters, would rather that the general population believe otherwise, because it's through misinformation and fear that their cause actually gains any footing. Regardless of the actual facts, they're willing to push a bleak world view where a woman's only chance of survival is to have a bigger gun than the next person.”

No Dick, they just need a gun. Any gun, any size. God made men, Sam Colt made them equal. I guess in Dick's world, women should just cower under the bed until someone comes to rescue them. I guess in Dick's world, it's better for criminals to roam the streets while law-abiding citizens must travel in groups. I guess in Dick's world, women are just weaklings who need a big strong policeman to protect them because they don't have the mental capacity to do it themselves.

What a fucking sack of shit. Dick the dick needs to be assaulted by a really big guy named "Bubbah" in a dark ally and anally raped until he passes out. And when he complains about it, we can tell him that he's shit out of luck, all the cops were watching over large groups of women who were walking to the store. Fuck him, fuck his useless victim-creating ideology, and fuck anything he ever came in contact with. This useless fucking parasite needs to be taken out back and shot, preferably by one of the Second Amendment Sisters. This fucking worthless cretin is part of the reason that crime spirals out of control. He would rather preside over a society of victims rather than allow women to defend themselves. He's a fucking scumball who isn't fit to use as fertilizer.

If any asshole tries to screw with MY girlfriend, I won't be getting a call from the cops, I'll be getting a call from a strong woman who will tell me "There's a guy to tried to rape me. He's leaking a lot of blood onto the floor. Should I call the city morgue?" My girlfriend doesn't have to travel in a group. My girlfriend doesn't have to be scared of a not-so-well lit area.

My girlfriend can defend herself, which is something this fucking asshole Dick Cobey has a problem with. Go tell MY girlfriend to only travel in groups or in well lit areas, you fucking prick!

I'll call the city morgue to pick up your useless corpse.

Thanks for the RCOB, Ravenwood.

Time to get Mad.

Kim du Toit brought this article, written by a Marine Colonel to my attention. Take a gander at it. I can't pull any quotes out and let you nibble, you have to digest the whole thing.

And then come back here and take a breath.

As good as President Bush has been to our military, I believe that he's screwed up in a big way by not enlarging the size of our active duty forces. I think we should have at least two more Army divisions on active duty, to cover our obligations without burning out the troops. Our Air Force needs new planes, even if their just copies of our older models. The B-52's have been flying since the Korean War, folks. Think about that. You can thank the good folks at Boeing for implimenting a safety and engineering standard that has allowed those planes to keep flying long after people thought they would be done. I'd like to see more Marines on active duty, so that the Marine Corps won't suffer a service-wide case of combat fatigue. The Marines are some of the toughest SOB's you'll ever run across, but they can only do so much.

Between Congress and the President, governmental spending has jumped, and yet only a small percentage of that jump went to the military. Tie in the fact that some weapons programs have been cut (not without good reason), and that percentage gets even smaller. For Pete's sake, Kim du Toit had to raise money to buy good scopes for our MILITARY snipers! Pay and benefits increases only go so far in retaining good troops, and when the military can't even get the equipment that it needs, we're not too far away from "really really bad shitstorm" type situations!

This isn't some sudden problem that jumped up in the past few years, either. This started under Bush Sr, and was ramped up during the Clinton Administration. Clinton closed more bases and handed out more pink slips to the military than any other president in modern history. To put it bluntly, Clinton gutted our military. While Bush has undone SOME of that damaged, he hasn't done nearly enough to bring us up to where we need to be.

And that's not the biggest problem. You want to know what really pisses me off? I don't think that Bush will ever bring the military up to where it needs to be. I don't think he'll ever have the cojones to cut public pork-barrel spending in order to send that money to the military. However, our only other option is even worse when it comes to military spending. John Fonda Kerry LOATHES the military, folks. He hates it with a burning passion. How do I know? Look at his record!

He voted to kill the Bradley Fighting Vehicle
He voted to kill the M-1 Abrams Tank
He voted to Kill the Patriot anti Missile system
He voted to kill every Aircraft carrier laid down since 1988
He voted to kill the Aegis anti aircraft system
He voted to Kill the F-15 strike eagle
He voted to Kill the Block 60 F-16
He voted to Kill the P-3 Orion upgrade
He voted to Kill the B-1
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the FA-18
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the F 117

It's all in the public voting record, folks. Open for anyone to see. Kerry has voted against the miliary equipment that we are now using on a regular basis. If John Fonda Kerry were president, our military would be nothing but men dressed in medievil armor waving swords! He also voted to cut the funding of the FBI by 60%, to cut the funding for the CIA by 80%, and cut the funding for the NSA by 80%. Do you really think this man cares about national security? Do you really think this man cares about military readiness? HELL NO! Kerry would be happy to see the US Military whither away like Canada's forces, to be replaced by some "international multilateral" force. He's proven it time and time again.

Gun rights are the same story. Bush? "I'll sign a new AWB if it comes across my desk" Scary shit, folks. At least we could petition our congresscritters to vote against extending the AWB. Kerry on the other hand has made damn sure that he voted against the 2nd Amendment time and time again. Kerry has missed well over three-quarters of the votes in the Senate this year, but by golly he was there to vote FOR the AWB extention! It's the same story time and time again. Bush may not be doing the best job, but compared to John Fonda Kerry, Bush might as well be the second coming of Theodore Roosevelt!

Is this what the election has boiled down to? Someone we're ambivilous about vs. someone who would toss America into a baby-blue blender and hit "frappe"?

Yeah, it's time to get mad.

P.S.A.

Women, please feel free to disregard this Public Service Announcement.

Men - Let's talk. There's this thing dangling between your legs. In medical terms it's called a "penis". Common vernacular is "wank, cock, dick, one-eyed trouser snake, willy, or heat-seeking moisture missle". It has two main functions. It seems that many people out there are only familiar with one of them, which would be sex. Fucking. Screwing. The Horizontal Mambo. Mattress dancing. Since we seem to be up to speed on that, let me just move straight to the other function, which would be liquid body waste disposal.

You see, thanks to the handy-dandy feature of actually having a protrusion with which to grasp, we men can aim the damn thing while we're taking a leak! This allows us to pee while standing up, which is commonly facilitated by urinals in men's restrooms. As far as I know, women's restrooms do not have urinals. Only the men do. However, this biological feature is completely useless IF YOU DON'T F**KING AIM!

So please, spread the news to all the people you know. Men can aim where they pee. It's true! You can try it out today! Because every time I walk into a public restroom and it looks like the trolls have been having a pee-pee fight, I want to puke. I'm starting to look for trees that appear relatively clean, because the sight and smell of a men's urinal makes me gag! We can aim the damn things, but it does us no good if we just let it hang out and spray all over the area! I feel like I need to clean out rest area bathrooms with a pressure hose before I use them.

Be Clean. Aim your Stream. Please, do it for the children!

Kerry Emerges Ready To Identify With Regular Americans

Turaysuh sez:

Fine stuff from a once-great show. Paul Lynde is one of my favorites all time, as is Rose Marie.

Teresa Heinz Kerry Tells Pittsburgh Reporter To "Shove It"

Must see video: ThePittsburghChannel.com. It's not too dramatic, it just shows Teraysa Heinz saying some of today's political tone is "unAmerican", then denying it when asked for clarification by a reporter.

That is why this is my favorite paper:

If Ed Rendell fears it, it's good.

The reporter, Colin McNickle, blogs the convention here: Colin McNickle at the Democratic National Convention.

Unexpected Jabs At President Bush On TV

I've made posts of this kind before. They basically serve as a record of the influence that the Left has throughout all major media. I've just been watching Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. I've seen Republicans and President Bush jabbed there at least two other times. On a show called Mission Hill, the main character (while getting drunk) is confronted by an outspoken yet.......we'll say "zany" Republican at a party. While subtle, it is hardly a positive association or reflection on the party. At least we weren't....well.....allow me to continue. Peter Griffin on the show Family Guy went off on a "don't give up" rant citing several of the left's attacks against "George W. Bush" (that coupled with an episode that saw the family visit D.C. and meet a group of politicians that included The President and Algore leads me to guess that the season was produced a short time before the 2000 election), and I think I remember another epsidode with a snipe at Reagan the "actor" President. But tonight, as I watched Harvey Birdman, The Jetsons traveled back in time to sue the past for the (unmentioned cause *cough*global warming*cough*) flood that destroyed the future. Birdman rides with another character to work among cars puffing out black smoke as they ride past power plants doing the same and nuclear plants oozing green goo. Birdman asks how one person can have such an effect on the environment just as the Presidential limo passes and President Bush is seen riding in the back (window down). Why? What makes them do this? They obviously believe this shit, but what makes them shove it in our faces? You can't watch a cartoon show without hearing the beat of the donk drum.

Fresh Back From Vacation

I've just arrived back from a week at the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Didn't do much there - just swam and fished and generally lazed around - reckon I got my fill of exhausting vacations when I was young and single and drinking.

Wanna see some pics?

Sure you do.

For using such bandwidth, I hereby submit an apology to the Dear Reader, whom I suspect is using DSL or cable anyway.

Peep:

The Chesapeake and Delaware (C&D) Canal Bridge

Could be that this doesn't deserve to be here first since this was shot on the way home (northbound) but en route to NC it was barely dawn and I was driving pre-coffee so two hands on the wheel was the order of the day. Also I opted for a digital camera for less than eight hundred bucks so low light focusing is lousy.

This bridge is on State Road 1 in Delaware. If you wish, you can read some about it here. A better bet for a tangential click appears below, in my opinion.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel

An unbelievable achievement in engineering, featuring 12 miles of low-level trestle, 2 one-mile-long tunnels, 2 bridges, 2 miles of causeway, 4 manmade islands and 5-1/2 miles of approach roads.

If you read the Facts & Figures, you can note that the same engineering firm designed what is now the northbound span in 1964 and the southbound span in 1999. I find that neat.

In the above shots, we are headed southbound.

Inside the Thimble Shoals Tunnel.

FYI: The Bridge-Tunnel is on Virginia State Road 13, between Cape Charles and Virginia Beach.

For whatever it is worth.

Greetings from Idaho

I'm typing this on a computer that doesn't seem to like Blogger's "create post" window, so we'll see how it goes.

It was hot as hell when the girlfriend and I drove through central Washington. Probably in the 100's. All I know is that we had the windows down in the truck, and even at 70+mph, the wind was still HOT. N. Idaho is a bit cooler, but it's also at a higher elevation.

By the way, the sheer amount of stress that melted off of me as soon as I crossed the state line is unbelieveable. If I could have taken my blood pressure, I bet it would have been at least 20 points lower. When I finally move to Idaho, I'm going to have to change my cyber-name to something like "Slightly Aggrivated Dave", or "Kinda Grumpy Dave", because the rage just isn't quite there when I'm not in Seattle. Go figure.

I spent some more time on my property, looking at where we're going to build, and where we need to clear away brush to allow new tree growth. The more time I spend there, the more I love it. There was a chance I was going to sell the land if the price was right, but I think that will be where I build my house. That is, unless some idiot puts up a development too close for comfort. I need plenty of space between me and the nearest neighbor.

The place I'm staying right now is out in the middle of the country. It's so quiet that if you stand outside and just listen, you can hear your heartbeat. Last night I was enjoying a nightcap outside, and I could hear coyotes yipping and howling a fair distance away. The sound was echoing down the valley, and it sent chills down my spine. I just stood outside, sipping a beer, and listening to them howl. Early this morning I listened to owls hooting in the grey early light. This place is medicine for the soul.

And the night sky..... No wonder we can't get kids interested in astronomy anymore. The city lights drown out the sky. I can see a few of the major stars from my house in Seattle. Out here you can see ALL of them, not just Cirrus Major, or the belt of Orion. You see everything. The major stars are swimming in an ocean of other stars, too many of them to count. If more kids lived in the country, they would understand just how magnificent the night sky truly is. I'll have to see if I can hold the shutter on my camera open long enough to capture the true sight of it.

I'll be back in Seattle Sunday evening. I figure that by the time I've gone through traffic and dealt with the people from that area, I'll be back to my old pissed off self. I'll see you then.

Sandy Berger Obstructed Plans To Get Bin Laden

Guess what those national archive documents Sandy stole contained! That's right
....according to the commission report, Mr. Berger was presented with plans to take action against the threat of Al Qaeda four separate times — Spring 1998, June 1999, December 1999, and August 2000. Each time, Mr. Berger was an obstacle to action. Had he been a little less reluctant to act, a little more open to taking pre-emptive action, maybe the 2,973 killed in the September 11, 2001, attacks would be alive today.

Sandy Berger - Clinton's National Security Advisor, Thief, Obstructionist concerned with covering his own ass (at which he failed), and a source of foreign policy advice for the Kerry Campaign. See you in November, Donks!

Reading the 9/11 Commission's Report

I highly suggest that every American takes the time to do the same.  I'm only 54 pages into it (out of 585).  The 9/11 hijackers took advantage of our every weakness (especially in the FAA) that day.  The men and women that found themselves responsible for determining exactly what was going on did the absolute best job they could.  What transpired was unprecedented.  With IIRC 15 minutes warning, NORAD scrambled jets from Otis in response to 1 missing aircraft, but were several minutes too late to intercept.  There was no warning for the other three planes!  The terrorists turned off the planes' identification signal (relied upon in order to track specific aircraft).  When an aircraft passes into and out of an FAA control center's air space, responibility for locating that aircraft also switches hands.  They had no idea of the planes' destination until it was too late.  Tower 1 impact -8:46. Tower 2 impact 9:03.  I found it shocking that NORAD had only 2 fighters per station for emergency response and 7 alert sites in the United States.     They trained to intercept hijakcers using our jets to disperse WMD, but not for them turning them into human filled missiles.

More later.

Busy as Hell

And so broke I can't pay attention.  Seriously, I'm down to the "let's roll our pennies and see how much we have" stage.  I haven't been to the range in a month, and my alcohol consumption has dropped to zero.  Luxuries are the first things to get cut.  Next month, I may be cutting out some other things that aren't so luxurious.

In any case, I'm going to be away from the computer for the next four days, so don't expect any posts from me.  It's all part of my plan to get out of this shitty town.  Seattle, the god-forsaken hellhole I call home.

Thoughts on Sandy Berger

When I was in the military, I held a Secret security clearance.  If I had "inadvertently" stuffed classified documents down my pants and took them home, I would still be incarcerated at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, breaking big rocks into little rocks.  The motives would not have mattered.

Yet here we have the former NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR, who by all logic should not only know the rules but be familiar with the punishments involved in breaking them, "inadvertently" stuffing classified material down his PANTS!!!!  And not just Secret documents, we're talking about the highest level of security classification there is!  IN HIS FUCKING PANTS!

Let the dumb fuck rot in jail for the rest of his life.  You do not "inadvertently" stuff top secret documents down your pants.  You don't "accidentally" stuff top secret papers in your jacket.  That's the biggest line of bullshit I've seen in a while.

The worst part is this:  If this is Berger's normal mode of operation, i.e. being such a worthless "sloppy" dumb fuck that he shoves highly classified documents down his pants, then we know what National Security was like while he was in the NSA position.

National Security fell right out of his pants and into the toilet.

In The News

So I'm checking out the news today, and there are a few stories that caught my eye. I figured I'd share them with you.

First, the Democrats are likely to stall another judicial nominee. Who didn't see this coming? Seriously, Bush could put Michael Moore of for a seat on some bench, and the Democrats would block him, just because he was Bush's choice. Ignore all the empty platitudes coming from the Donks, because they don't mean jack shit. They're not pro-American, they're anti-Bush. It's been the same story since January of 2001.

Second, Fox News did a piece on ProtestWarrior, the conservative group who protests the protesters. Personally, I'm loving it. They show the ProtestWarriors asking the question "So, those Iraqis who were freed from Saddam's torture chambers and prisons, do you think they'd be happy if you were calling the shots?" The protester's response? "You don't know BLEEP about the situation in Iraq!"

Anything that highlights the complete lunacy and idiocy of the Left is fine and dandy with me. ProtestWarrior has been doing it for a while now. The funniest part of the piece? It seems that the protesters have been trying to censor ProtestWarrior, and attempting to prevent ProtestWarrior from marching.

Free Speech. In the Left's eyes, it's only OK when they agree with you. If you say something they don't like, they'll do everything they can to stop you from saying it.

And last but not least, yet another Clinton Administration official has been caught with his pants down.

Former President Clinton's national security adviser is under criminal investigation for taking highly classified terrorism documents that should have been turned over to the independent commission probing the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, FOX News has confirmed.

Sandy Berger is under scrutiny by the Justice Department (search) following the disappearance of documents he was reviewing at the National Archives.

Berger's home and office were searched earlier this year by FBI agents armed with warrants after the former Clinton adviser voluntarily returned some sensitive documents to the National Archives and admitted he also removed handwritten notes he had made while reviewing the sensitive documents.

When I was an MP, I held a "Secret" security clearance. If I had taken any sensitive documents home, I'd be in Ft. Leavenworth right now, breaking big rocks into little rocks. This slimy fuckstick is still breathing free air. Do you see the problem here? Another toadie connected to one of the most corrupt administrations this country has ever seen has been exposed as a criminal, and he's still walking around in his own clothing? Don't tell me the Donks are the "Party of the People".

"I deeply regret the sloppiness involved, but I had no intention of withholding documents from the commission, and to the contrary, to my knowledge, every document requested by the commission from the Clinton administration was produced," Berger said in a statement.

I don't give two squirts of piss if every document asked for was produced, it has nothing to do with the fact that this little worm BROKE THE DAMN LAW! Mishandling of classified documents is a CRIME! And this turd was Clinton's NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR? Kee-RISTE what a screw-up! If the NSA can't even follow the damn laws, how the hell can we expect him to do anything else?

I don't care if this was an innocent mistake. I don't care if Berger's motives were as pure as the freshly fallen snow. He fucked up, and he fucked up bad. He needs to pay the price and he needs to be forcibly removed from any level of politics for the rest of his life. You do NOT screw around with classified documents. You do NOT "accidentally" stuff classified papers down your pants. You do NOT FUCK AROUND WITH NATIONAL SECURITY!

Send this bastard to jail. Just like anyone else would be.

Retaining your Humanity

Here's a question: How many people out there can kill without remorse?

Seriously, how many? How many people do YOU know who could? Even in the Army, we weren't taught to kill for fun, we trained on it and practiced it and learned it because it would save our life. As a MP, we trained on it and practiced it and learned it because it might save someone else's life. But nowhere, even at some backwoods rifle range, did I ever hear anyone say that killing people was fun.

When I slaughter animals, I still feel a twinge of regret about ending a life. I do it because I have to eat, plain and simple. But I don't get any joy out of killing an animal, it's simply a part of nature, and I feel better knowing that the animal was killed painlessly rather than slaughtered in some massive farm-owned slaughterhouse.

So my question is this: How can someone look at a sonogram, and see the proof of three small hearts beating, and decide to remove two of them just for convenience's sake? "Oh Honey, look, I'm pregnate with triplets. Let's get rid of one or two so we don't have to shop at Costco."

When we saw the specialist, we found out that I was carrying identical twins and a stand alone. My doctors thought the stand alone was three days older. There was something psychologically comforting about that, since I wanted to have just one. Before the procedure, I was focused on relaxing. But Peter was staring at the sonogram screen thinking: Oh, my gosh, there are three heartbeats. I can't believe we're about to make two disappear. The doctor came in, and then Peter was asked to leave. I said, ''Can Peter stay?'' The doctor said no. I know Peter was offended by that.

How can you just end two lives, and still retain that little spark that makes you human? How can you inject two hearts with sodium chloride and call yourself compassionate? How can you make a deliberate decision to end two lives only for the sake of your own personal comfort, and call yourself "loving"?

You can't. And the worst part isn't just that these two lives were ended so a selfish bitch could continue living the pampered life. No, the worst part is that one child is still alive, and living with this thing. I won't even call her a "mother". A mother doesn't kill her children just because she doesn't like Costco. A mother doesn't decide that her personal comfort is more important that someone else's life.

That poor child has to grow up in a house with that thing. Pray for him.

You can read more about it at The Rottweiller, Michelle Malkin, and Allah Pundit. As for me, I'm a little too sick in the stomach to go on about it any more. What a vile, greedy, uncaring bitch.
