We Need A Bigger Defense Budget

Especially if we're going to take over for our neighbors to the North.

The Canadian navy will sit out the war on terrorism for one year in an effort to give exhausted sailors a chance to recuperate. HMCS Toronto left the Arabian Sea and the American George Washington Carrier Strike Group July 4 with a broken Sea King helicopter on deck.

And the navy has quietly decided against dispatching a replacement ship until spring 2005 at the earliest.


Take a look on the date on that article. July 15th, 2004. Our pals over at Random Nuclear Strikes recall when the Canadian Navy said the same damn thing ONE YEAR AGO!

"Tired and broke, the Canadian navy is slowing down for a year, cutting back on major training exercises and delaying a return to NATO's Atlantic fleet, senior officers say. "We're just taking a pause here," said Rear-Admiral Glenn Davidson, commander of the navy in the Atlantic.

So just to make things clear, this is pretty much a two year break, because the ONE SHIP that the Canadians were able to muster is damn near worn down to nothing.

How sad is that? How many billions were sunk into the Canadian Gun Registry program (which hasn't been able to prevent, solve, or even identify one single crime!)? How many billions of dollars get sucked into their socialized healthcare system? (which is so wonderful that many Canadians come down to the USA for medical treatment!). You would think that a country of thirty million people would be able to put out more than one ship at a time! The Canadian military, which was once so feared by the Germans that Hitler's troops avoided them and looked for American divisions to fight instead during the invasion of Normandy, is now a broken down, burnt out, used up shell of it's former self. Ignored, unfunded, and damn near abandoned, the Canadian military wouldn't be able to fight off a bad cold these days.

And why? Because the corrupt parasites in Ottowa know that if any country were dumb enough to invade Canada, the USA would ride to the rescue. The Canadian Government feels free to waste as much money as they want on their bread and circuses social programs because they know they don't have to worry about much else. It's disgusting, and it's disgraceful.

The only countries who can mount a military force anywhere close to the USA's strength are Britan and Australia. That's not to say other countries cannot bring considerable military might to bear - Poland, Korea, and New Zealand all have small units that have gained the respect and admiration of the US military. But how many countries can project one-tenth of America's military power over an extended period of time? Not many. (Granted, in Korea's defense they have to keep several hundred thousand troops ready in country due to the insane communist dicator to the North. That'll tie up your resources real quick.)

The next time liberals scream about how much we spend on defense, remind them that if other countries were able to defend themselves instead of begging the USA to do it for them, we wouldn't need to spend near as much as we do. Or we could just tell the UN to go get bent when they ask for troops, which would free up several hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars. That'll cut our defense expeditures quite a bit.

I was just fired a few minutes ago. Officially I was "terminated without cause", and that for future employment inquiries they will report that I "decided to leave". Unofficially I learned that the decision had been made by "senior management" to fire me about three months ago, but that they had kept me on to finish up my projects.

Coincidentally, about three months ago I was at a social function with my boss's boss when he took me aside and said to me "Is that a gun?" -- I was, as usual, carrying my Kahr K9, and he had seen the gun under my shirt -- "Would you mind taking that out to your car? I really don't like guns and I don't think it's appropriate for you to have one here".

New Blogger Template Sucks

If there has been any problems with the HTML code, or my spelling, I apologise. I don't know if it's my computer or BlogSpot itself, but all the controls that normally appear in the "creat post" section are gone. All the HTML buttons for bold, hyperlink, italics, ect., gone. Spellcheck, gone. So I'm doing everything by hand.

If you catch an error, email me and I'll fix it when I can.

Whoopie Goldberg: "America's heart and soul is freedom of expression without fear of reprisal,"

Excuse me?

Show me where it says that, please. Let's look up the freedoms we have and see if "Freedom of expression without fear of reprisal" is included in there. Let's see, we got Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of Assembly, Freedom of the Press, and Freedom to Petition (the government). I don't see any part about "without fear of reprisal". Maybe the stupid bint doesn't realise that the government didn't do a damn thing to her. Time to wake up, Whoopsie.

Let's be clear: The 1st Amendment does not allow the Government to punish you if you say something that government leaders don't like. That's pretty much written in stone. But where did the government do anything to Whoopsie? Did someone in Congress call up Slim-Fast and tell them to dump her? Nope. There was absolutely no government involvement in that decision. It was all private citizens. John Doe on the street, who didn't want to see some blowhard alcoholic washed-up has-been on their TV screens anymore.

Dubya didn't do a damn thing to Whoopsie. We did. Joe Public. The Angry Americans. We're sick and tired of some uneducated idiots spouting off at the mouth everytime we turn on the TV sets. We're sick and tired of some pampered snot-nosed socialist bitch calling us names. We're sick and tired of seeing a group of elitist assholes badmouthing our president. And so we're doing something about it.

Did ya take a look at the stock prices of Slim-Fast's parent company? They're down. Not just a little "oh they'll come back tomorrow" down, but "ohshitweneeddamagecontrol" down. And with everybody and their brother calling up Slim-Fast to complain about the stupid bint, Slim-Fast put two and two together. Whoopsie was a liability, a money loser. If she hung on as the spokesperson, Slim-Fast was going to lose business. While her foul-mouth hystronics might go over well with the tin-foil hat "anybody but Bush" crowd, the vast majority of Americans felt their bile rise after her performance. She was going to cost Slim-Fast money, a lot more money than her million-plus dollar sponsorship, and they cut her loose. Dropped her like a bad habit. Dumped her on her worthless, Bush-hating ass. I expect the stocks to recover now that they don't have Whoopsie acting as a deadweight dragging them into the netherworld.

The government had nothing to do with it. Blame whatever else you like, but don't blame Uncle Sam. He was not a part of it. But this whole episode just highlights what we already know about liberal idiots.

What dipshits like Whoopsie REALLY want is the ability to say anything that might spew out of their piehole and not have to face the consequenses of it from ANYBODY. The Dixie Chicks badmouth the President overseas, and then they're shocked that their country-loving, flag-waving, NASCAR watching, patriotic fans dump them on their ass, complete with tractors driving over piles of their CD's. Natalie whines about how her freedom of speech is being squashed. Boo-fucking-hoo you bimbo, maybe you should have just kept your yap SHUT if you didn't want to drop out of the country music market. Everywhere I look I see the liberals who were bit in the ass by the free-market cry and snivel about their freedom of speech. Hey, you're free to say whatever the hell you want. But don't be surprised when the people who PAY YOUR FUCKING SALARY refuse to associate with you after you blast off at the mouth. Pissing off your fan base is what we here in Reality Land like to call a REALLY FUCKING DUMB IDEA!

They want protection from their own arrogant stupidity. Nope, sorry, that won't fly. How nice of the liberal Hollywood elite to showcase their own ignorance, though. I rather like it when they prove that they don't have a fucking clue what this country stands for. They don't have a clue what the Constitution says. And they don't have a clue about what it means to be a good American. If they want to dish out crap so vile that the transcript is being withheld from the public, then they'd better learn REALLY DAMN FAST that there are consequences for their shit. And it won't come from the government.

It'll come from the people they despise the most: average Americans.

John Fonda Kerry gets another handprint on his face

And I'm loving it.

Kerry may or may not have been a war hero -- it's for darn sure he saw more active duty than George W. Bush. But we're not voting for favorite ex-soldier, we're voting for the policies that will protect us from foreign enemies.

Kerry's voting record in the Senate says that he'd rather our military consisted of a sixty-man chorus dressed in camo and singing "Give Me Some Men Who Are Stout-Hearted Men."

And maybe, maybe, one bugler.

If it had been up to Kerry, we wouldn't have had enough of a military to take over downtown Dallas, let alone Iraq.


Methinks something has upset Mr. Card, and Mr. Card is letting his feelings be known, to the delight of every right thinking person. RTWT, as they say.

I laughed until I puked

And I don't know why. But I do know that Steve is one of the funniest people on the web, even when he's not trying to be, as when he's ripping Joe "What uranium?" Wilson and his sooper-seekrit spy wife to shreds.

Wilson also claimed he got the job on his own merits, with no pimping efforts on the part of his wife.

And we all recall his wife, Valerie Plame. The super-secret CIA spy who dates men a couple of times and then, perhaps on the pivotal night when she first puts her hand down the fronts of their pants, blurts out that she's a secret agent. That's pretty much how Wilson found out, by his own account. Obviously, he and the wife are highly savvy when it comes to handling classified information. The rule goes like this: never give sensitive intel to anyone until his tongue has been in your mouth.

Bob Novak printed Plame's name and said she was a CIA spy, supposedly after learning the information from a Bush administration official. Moonbat journalists put down their hash pipes and ran for their laptops, thinking this was the weapon that would finally get President Gore the payback he was looking for. Gore would be rescued from his teaching post at West Tennessee Barber College, and he would return, like Napoleon from Elba, to take his rightful throne and force us all to drive stupid little cars with electric motors.

Karl Rove was going to be "frog-marched" out of the White House in handcuffs, whatever "frog-marched" means. I think it means prancing frantically in the opposite direction from armed Germans, while soiling yourself and cursing in French.

What the HELL?

So I'm watching the news tonight, and they have this nicey-nicey story about some protest or another in downtown Seattle.  Big whoop.  There's a protest in Seattle every time you turn around.  Some cities have a night life.  Seattle has a protest life.  You know, old hippies protesting to try and bring back their youth, young men protesting in an attempt to get laid, young women protesting so that they can be around other young women with armpit hair, yada yada yada. 
 
Anyways, there was a protest, and they showed one guy in a wheelchair protesting along with the rest of them.  At the end of this little story, the wheelchair guy starts talking about how protest is patriotic, and then the voice-over comes in about some hooey about how protesting is this guy's little part of America, and the camera stays on the guy while he rolls away WITH A FUCKING CANADIAN FLAG ON THE BACK OF HIS WHEELCHAIR!!!!!!
 
I mean, OK, protest away, try to get laid by hairy-armpit chicks, do whatever floats your boat, but don't tell me about how you're a good American WHILE YOUR WAVING THE FLAG OF ANOTHER FUCKING COUNTRY!
 
Satire is dead, folks.  It's been beaten to death by real life.

I just stumbled upon a website for POW/MIA families against Kerry while I was checking out this blog.  Some of it is pretty brutal, if you happen to be a Kerry Fan.  As usual, all emphasis is mine.
 
Former POW Paul Galanti:  He says Kerry broke a covenant among servicemen never to make public criticisms that might jeopardize those still in battle or in the hands of the enemy.

We are at war and I know war. Your brand of equivocation on every issue costs lives in a war and I don't want more dead and wounded here and abroad. The rest of the site is just as brutal to 'ol John Fonda Kerry (or as Kim du Toit calls him, Fuckface and the Ambulance Chaser.  FATAB)  I would say that many of the people who know him best are repulsed by him.
 
Personally, the more I read about the men he betrayed, the more I can't stand the sight of him.

Reader Dan D. Doty send this along for the pleasure of our readership: 

One of the regular feature contributors over at Democratic Underground is a woman who calls herself "The Plaid Adder".  Her articles are weekly rants about the evils of the Republicans, railings of various ‘isms and objurgating about people who don’t share her narrow point of view. But this feature is not about her features.  P.A. has had pseudo success when she writes for DU; after all she is preaching to the dysfunctional choir. 
 
No, it is the fiction of the regressing reptile where criticism is most needed.

And badly. 
  
The reason why I can do this is simple. You see I’m a writer.  I write stories dealing with science, fantasy and horror.  I was one of the play testers for the 3rd edition of Dungeons and Dragons.  My poetry has been published as a chapbook as well as appearing in magazines and newspapers.  My shorts stories (twelve of them) are in a book called MONSTER NEWS –THE BOOK.  
 
Plaid Adder has a web site linked to DU, where she talks her unpublished novels and short stories.  After reading her work, I know why.  This article is for the most part explaining to the reasons to Ms. Adder herself.  If she’ll listen is another matter. 
  
The first reason why P.A. is not moving her work is simple. She bases the main character on herself. Most writers base the main character on elements of themselves, but totally on themselves. When the heroine is a red headed left wing lesbian, we all know who you are talking about.  The reading public expects a little imagination out of their authors. 
 
The second mistake P.A. makes is not following the rule of conservation.   For those who do not know what the rule is, it is simply this; don’t use a hundred words to say something that you could have done in ten.  Writers who ignore this rule usually do so to hear themselves talk. In other words being longwinded.  This tends to raise the yawn factor and lower your fan potential.  Not a smart move. 
 
The third and strangest mistake Plaid Adder makes is trying to create the anti-fantasy novel.
 
Trust me, there’s no market for that.

J.R.R. Tolken and Robert E. Howard are giggling in their graves. 
 
The fourth and most fatal mistake Plaid Adder makes is injecting a heavy dose of her politics into her works. People on the left have tried this before, and it doesn’t turn out well.   Socialism (both left and right) has been pushed on the American reader since the 1930’s.  Its always wordy gunk that tries to convince people that they would be better off having a statist government running their lives.  But when people discovered writers like Heinlein, Rand and Bradbury the Utopia peddlers fall by the wayside; left to slink along the ditches dreaming of the past that never was or will be.

After all, who wants to read a story where the hero is the all powerful, all knowing state who struggles to stop an individual from thinking and living for himself? 
 
The fifth and final mistake that Plaid Adder makes is putting her hates into her writings.

On her web site, Plaid Adder has a second rate drawing of her avatar constricting three classic Greek looking male statues (which is weird, because adders are in fact vipers).    These stony figures represent all she hates; Capitalism (the free market), Patriarchy (men) and Imperialism (America).  I can understand the free market because she can’t get anyone to publish her.  Men she needs to blame for her failings, after Adder can’t blame herself, now can she ?  America is that land that does not obey her commands. Its people do what they want and not what she thinks is better for them. How foolish. 
 
And one last bit of advice before I get back to my fantastic fiction. 

If you can’t put your real name on anything you write, then it wasn’t worth the time creating it in the first place.

Gone drinkin'

The girlfriend and I are going to head on over to the other side of the water tonight and visit with her brother.  I figure that by 10:00 tonight I'll be three sheets to the wind from sucking down scotch and singing really bad kareoke in a bar in Kingston.  Tomorrow we're heading to a festival in Sequim.  It'll be a nice, relaxing time out of Seattle.  I'll see you all tomorrow.

Bush to speak to Urban League

And in his own special way tells the NAACP to get bent.

WASHINGTON — Leaders of the NAACP, through their "hostile rhetoric," have shown no interest in working with President Bush, the White House said Thursday. The president skipped speaking to the group, but will address the annual meeting of another civil rights organization next week.

The NAACP has been openly hostile and partisan towards Republicans for years, but with Bush it's just gotten worse. The insults, barbs, slurs and lies that have come out of both Julian Bonds and Kweisi Mfume aren't just bad politics, they're the venom and hatred of two very, very sick individuals.

On Monday, NAACP President Kweisi Mfume described Bush's black supporters as "ventriloquists' dummies" and said the president's decision not to speak at the convention was an insult. The same day, NAACP chairman Julian Bond urged members to oust Bush and condemned the administration's policies on education, the economy and the war in Iraq.

FULL STOP! Look at that first sentance! I want you to read that two or three times. "ventriloquists' dummies".

Can you feel the raw, unadulterated evil in that sentance? The racism? If you veer away from the official party line, you're nothing but a dummy! Get back on the plantation, you uppity git! That one quote right there sums up just how foul and corrupt the NAACP is. How DARE you think for yourself! How DARE you disagree with your unelected self-nominated leaders! How DARE you question what they say! You should be nothing but a non-thinking drone following their orders!

That one sentance insinuates the unthinkable; You should be their slave.

I won't go into how by the NAACP's own charter they're supposed to be non-partisan. I don't think I have to. Bonds and Mfume have shown their lack of character so many times it's stopped being painful, and is now relegated to the "Oh geez, there they go again" response.

It's disgusting.

Buh Bye, Whoopie

I guess making sexually explicit doody jokes about the President of the United States doesn't make many people happy.

"We are disappointed by the manner in which Ms. Goldberg chose to express herself and sincerely regret that her recent remarks offended some of our consumers. Ads featuring Ms. Goldberg will no longer be on the air," Slim-Fast general manager Terry Olson said in a press release Wednesday.

That would be the little get-together that Kerry and Co. refuses to release the transcripts of, by the way. Gee, I wonder why they would do that? I mean, according to Kerry the people there were the "Heart and Soul" of America. What does he have to fear?

Two Big Lies

So, Kerry is going around the country campaigning (too bad he hasn't actually done his REAL job, but that's a point for a later date), and while most of the crap that flies out of his mouth is a lie, people have caught him in two really big ones.

With documentation.

Vodka Pundit saw this one first:

"Don’t tell us disenfranchising a million African Americans and stealing their votes is the best we can do."

The problem? The US Civil Rights Commission, despite months of investigation, noted only 26 people with "disenfranchisement" complaints, most of which were found to be specious. (.pdf file can be found here.

Let's see here... A million, or 26? A million, or 26? Well, John Fonda Kerry is only off by 999,973 people, but if that's the way he runs his numbers there's no chance in hell he'll be able to run the economy. I can see that first SOTU address... "MY PERSONAL KNOW-HOW AND ACTION RAISED TEN GAZILLION DOLLARS!" Uh, nope.

The second lie? More of the same: "We've got more African Americans in jail than we do in college. That's unacceptable"

Once again, the facts are NOT on John Fonda Kerry's side, as Stephan Sharkansky points out.

In fact, it seems that there are more than twice as many African Americans in college than in jail.
U.S. Census Bureau (2000): African Americans in college: 2,224,181

U.S. DoJ Office of Justice Programs: "Prison and Jail Inmates at MidYear 2003" (p.11): "Table 13. Number of inmates in state or federal prisons or local jails" -- Black Americans in jail: 899,200.
Those nearly 900,000 incarcerated African Americans still represent a tragic waste of lives and potential. But fortunately, things are not nearly as gloomy as John Kerry wants to believe they are.


So not only does John Fonda Kerry lie his ass off at every chance he gets, the supposedly "objective" media lets it pass. Oh, THAT liberal media. But I digress. John Fonda Kerry wouldn't know the truth if it bit him in the ass, and he has shown NO reluctance whatsoever to play the class-warfare game, pull out the race card, or lower himself to whatever level he needs in order to grab the reins of power. What a sickening, disgusting, purile little man. And thank you VodkaPundit for exposing it a bit more.

Way Cool

Old retired couple who love baseball go on a trip to every baseball field in America and Canada.

Found it in the Seattle Times. I don't know if I love baseball enough to visit every ballpark, but my love of travel would keep me going for a while. From the newspaper article, a list of bests:

Best major-league park: Seattle Mariners, Safeco Field. (It's a kick ass field - not a bad seat in the house)

Best minor-league park: Altoona Curve, Blair County Ballpark, Altoona, Pa. The park is sunk into a hillside, and an active wooden roller coaster — The Curve — looms above the outfield.

Best atmosphere: Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, Boston.
(This, I can agree to. Going to a game at Fenway is like nowhere else)

Best view from stadium: San Francisco Giants, SBC Park, San Francisco.

Best seats they sat in: Oklahoma RedHawks, SBC Bricktown Ballpark, Oklahoma City; first row behind home plate.

Best sandwich: Kansas City T-Bones, CommunityAmerica Ballpark, Kansas City, Kan., T-Boneless T-Bone Sandwich.

Best promotion: Clunker Night with the Arkansas Travelers, Ray Winder Field, Little Rock, Ark. All ticket holders are placed in a drawing for a donated clunker car; it's guaranteed to run, but everything else may not work.

Biggest warning: They were told not to wear their Mariners jerseys at Philadelphia Phillies games, because the fans might get ugly. They didn't wear them in Yankee Stadium, either.

Best snapshot: The Flower Boy, dressed in a pink nightie, pink satin shorts, hot pink socks and a matching lei, presenting Andrea Siscel with a free bouquet at the Hudson Valley, N.Y., Renegades game.

Worst experience: None. They say it was all good.

Only place they didn't cheer for the home team: Yankee Stadium.

Most unexpected (and now former) Mariner sighting: Ben Davis, playing with the Tacoma Rainiers in Memphis, Tenn. They made a quick call home to learn about Davis' demotion.

Started in the early 1990s, Libya’s disclosed uranium enrichment program appears based on both Pakistan’s G-1 and G-2 centrifuge designs, with some of the centrifuges having been flown there from Pakistan.

A.Q. Khan has confessed to meeting with Libyans in Istanbul, Turkey, in 1990.

Libya was also reportedly provided by the Pakistanis with additional information on how and where to acquire additional components for this program. Using at first the G-1 design, it later upgraded to the G-2 model, which Libya is reported to have had set up a small number of. These were being manufactured at a facility in Malaysia arranged through Khan's netowrk. Components from that plant which were intercepted by the United States aboard a German-registered ship on their way to Libya in October 2003 after having been spotted whilst going through the Suez Canal.

Schematics for both G-2 centrifuges and bombs were reported to be among documentation given to both the United States and the IAEA by Libya.

The supply chain for Libya's program relied on Libyans contacting Pakistanis who would in turn contact middlemn. These would contact suppliers for the desired components which, once completed would then be shipped to the Persian Gulf emirate of Dubai, from where they would be delivered to Libya. Items thus procured ranges from high-strength metals and vaccuum systems to electronics.




Who was A.Q. Kahn?

In early February 2004, Pakistan’s national hero and the father of its atomic bomb, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, admitted to masterminding an elaborate nuclear proliferation network that had transferred nuclear technology to Iran, Libya, and North Korea--and perhaps elsewhere.

The White House has long portrayed Libya's pledge to abandon programs to develop weapons of mass destruction as affirmation of Bush's hard-line strategy on arms proliferation. It suggested the U.S.-led war in Iraq helped convince Gadhafi that he should act.

Democrats, however, dismiss any such claim, saying instead it was the softer hand of diplomacy that helped score the turnaround in Libya.

Let's ask Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi

Hans Blix, former chief U.N. weapons inspector, said he imagined "Gadhafi could have been scared by what he saw happen in Iraq."

Asked about his decision, Gadhafi acknowledged that the Iraq war may have influenced him, but he insisted he wanted to focus on the "positive."


The Donks insisted that Gadhafi's words meant nothing and cited years of attempts to get the thug to comply with international requests as being responsible for his decision despite the following:

1)Saddam was captured on December 14, 2003
2) Gadhafi agrees to cooperate December 19, 2003
3) Libya approached British and U.S. officials in mid-March, about the same time the war in Iraq began.
4) As mentioned previously, Gadhafi's own admission.


So are they stupid or lying? This is what it always comes down to with Democrats. Are they ignorant of the information I just presented you? If not, why...oh why would they lie and say our liberation of Iraq from the rule of Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with Libya's cooperation with international requests to disarm and stop supporting terror? They lie because it is politically advantageous to do so. After all, they can't admit that President Bush did something good. That won't give them the power they lust after.

Oh, THIS is going to be interesting!

I've often though that the USA was a little too nice when it came to killing bad guys. It seems that we always take a stance which comes back to bite us in the butt. It's part of our culture, the "Be Nice" mindset that people in this country seem to have.

The Iraqis, however, have a different culture. And now that they're in charge, things might just go a little differently.

Iraq will soon offer amnesty to insurgents so long as they haven't performed "atrocious acts" but the interim president is threatening to use a "very sharp sword" to fight guerrillas threatening the country's security.

"We are offering an amnesty definitely, for people who have not committed too many atrocious acts," Iraqi interim President Ghazi al-Yawer told The Financial Times on Monday. "Everybody except murderers, rapists and kidnappers."


OK, so quite a few people will get a chance to remain among the living. I don't know how they'll be able to tell the difference between a murderer and some guy who just likes to torture people, but that's their choice not mine.

Al-Yawer appealed to insurgents to accept the amnesty and lay down their weapons.

"This is your last chance, otherwise there will be the sword," he said.

Foreign and local insurgents have launched numerous attacks in Iraq in an effort to force U.S.-led coalition forces to leave and to thwart the country's postwar reconstruction. The attacks have killed scores of U.S. troops and hundreds of Iraqi civilians.

"Terrorism isn't just killing and blowing up bombs, whoever threatens the ordinary life of the people is a terrorist," al-Yawer told reporters Monday. "We have a very sharp sword ready for anyone who threatens the security of this country."


Now here is where I pause to chuckle for a bit. By and large, the "insurgents" that are fighting in Iraq are not Iraqi. They're Iranian, or Syrian, or Lebanese, or Palestinian. They aren't going to stop fighting or causing trouble, because a free and stable Iraq is what they're fighting AGAINST. Which means that the Iraqi government is going to be able to wipe them off the face of the earth without hesitation. These terrorists have three options: 1) Leave Iraq (which they can't do without admitting failure), 2) Stay in Iraq but stop fighting (which they can't do without admitting failure), and 3) Stay in Iraq, keep fighting, and die.

And I'm going to sit back and grin.

Michael Muqtada al-Moore

Ouch.

Bush may be vulnerable to substantive criticism of his personal capabilities and his policies and motivation. There might be a rational and convincing argument to be made for voting for "anyone but Bush".

But we won't find out in 2004. Michael Moore has done more than any other single man to guarantee that. Someone on the left may voice such an argument, but he'll be drowned out by rabid LL jihadists as they stridently deliver a message tailor-made to alienate the broad electorate in style of presentation, in attitude, in substance, and in underlying message. Moore holds a locus of extreme political positions, and most Americans will consider at least one of them to be utterly odious. (For instance, Moore strongly favors gun control, but Americans actually own more guns per capita than do the citizens of any other nation.)

It is rare for a political faction to be blessed with an opponent who is so charismatic to his fanatical supporters, so repulsive to non-supporters, and so vulnerable to criticism and caricature. I can't think of a high-profile leftist I'd rather have "at the centre of things" than Michael Muqtada al-Moore.

Remember Joe Wilson? The guy who wanted Karl Rove frogmarched in handcuffs out of the White House?

Yeah, that guy. The poor little picked on Wilson, who's wife was "outed" (and then who had a nice photo spread!)

Turns out he's full of shit.

Wilson last year launched a public firestorm with his accusations that the administration had manipulated intelligence to build a case for war. He has said that his trip to Niger should have laid to rest any notion that Iraq sought uranium there and has said his findings were ignored by the White House.

Wilson's assertions -- both about what he found in Niger and what the Bush administration did with the information -- were undermined yesterday in a bipartisan Senate intelligence committee report.


The guy is a lying snake, willing to sell his country down the river in order to hurt the current administration. Gee, what a nice guy.

The report also said Wilson provided misleading information to The Washington Post last June. He said then that he concluded the Niger intelligence was based on documents that had clearly been forged because "the dates were wrong and the names were wrong."

"Committee staff asked how the former ambassador could have come to the conclusion that the 'dates were wrong and the names were wrong' when he had never seen the CIA reports and had no knowledge of what names and dates were in the reports," the Senate panel said. Wilson told the panel he may have been confused and may have "misspoken" to reporters. The documents -- purported sales agreements between Niger and Iraq -- were not in U.S. hands until eight months after Wilson made his trip to Niger.

Wilson's reports to the CIA added to the evidence that Iraq may have tried to buy uranium in Niger, although officials at the State Department remained highly skeptical, the report said.

Wilson said that a former prime minister of Niger, Ibrahim Assane Mayaki, was unaware of any sales contract with Iraq, but said that in June 1999 a businessman approached him, insisting that he meet with an Iraqi delegation to discuss "expanding commercial relations" between Niger and Iraq -- which Mayaki interpreted to mean they wanted to discuss yellowcake sales. A report CIA officials drafted after debriefing Wilson said that "although the meeting took place, Mayaki let the matter drop due to UN sanctions on Iraq."

According to the former Niger mining minister, Wilson told his CIA contacts, Iraq tried to buy 400 tons of uranium in 1998.

Actually, from Bainbridge Island, but the attitude is the same from Olympia to Seattle.

Think about the Seattle area -- Bainbridge Island to be exact -- and you think scenic views and liberal-minded tolerance.

At least the killer views are still there.

The bucolic island's deep reputation for civility got a gut check this week during the annual Grand Old Fourth of July celebration.

That's when Jason Gilson, a 23-year-old military veteran who served in Iraq, marched in the local event. He wore his medals with pride and carried a sign that said "Veterans for Bush."

Walking the parade route with his mom, younger siblings and politically conservative friends, Jason heard words from the crowd that felt like a thousand daggers to the heart.

"Baby killer!"

"Murderer!"

"Boooo!"


I've had a few people ask my why I haven't blogged on this sooner, since the incident happened in my neck of the woods. My answer?

It's nothing unusual for the Seattle area. This is typical. Bringing this up would just be yet another example of the bullshit that this area regularly produces. I've got a neighbor who's truck and house have both been vandalized because of the visible "Bush/Cheney" stickers and signs. And to top it all off, the guy has a sign in his window that states "I'm a Proud Friend of Israel" sitting in his window. He was flying a 101st Airborn flag in his yard for quite a while. The guy has balls of brass. But the reactions he's getting are not out of the norm. The vandalism, that's normal. Trying putting a Bush/Cheney sticker on your car and then parking it anywhere near Capitol Hill. You won't have any windows left. My neighbor has had paint poured over the signs on his house, which of course means that the paint was also poured on his house.

Yeah, really nice people around here, really "tolerant", really "inclusive". Bullshit. This is the average attitude for the Loony Left here in the Pacific Northwest. King County is by and large a one party system, unless you count the Communist party, Socialist party and the Green party, who do get quite a large chunk of votes. Would you like to see a statue of Lenin? I can show you where a Seattle neighborhood has proudly put one on display. Jim McDermott represents Seattle in the US House of Representatives. Lest we forget, Baghdad Jim is one of those proud congresscritters who A) Went to Baghdad before the war and proclaimed Saddam Hussein more trustworthy than George Bush, B) Is a registered member of the Democratic Socialists of America, and C) Has advanced more loony conspiracy theories than almost any one else in Congress. And oh by the way, the last time he was up for re-election he got 71% of the vote. That was AFTER we went to Baghdad and gave Saddam a blowjob on international TV.

You think I'm surprised at this soldier being slandered and insulted? Nope. I'm surprised he wasn't pelted with rotten fruit as well. But seeing as this was a 4th of July parade, I'm sure the rotten fruit was already thrown at the color guard up front. They ran out long before this soldier came along.

If those folks on Bainbridge had cheered when that soldier walked by, I'd have blogged on it. It would have been newsworthy. But lies, slander, insults, vandalism, hatred, and violence from the Loony Left in Seattle?

That's normal.

Weekend Update

It's been a pretty good weekend so far. The girlfriend and I continued our work on refinishing the chair, until we were interrupted by a thunderstorm that blew in suddenly. Typical Seattle weather; if you don't like it, wait five minutes and it'll change. Still, we managed to get all the varnish off the disassembled pieces. Unfortunately I had to use such a coarse grit to remove the crud, we're having to sand each piece two or three more times in order to smooth it out before we stain it. It's slow going, but it'll be worth it.

Took the new camera out for a spin downtown last night. I bought a cable shutter release, and toyed around with holding the shutter open to see how it works. Hopefully I'll have some cool pictures, but if not I can chalk it up to a learning experience. I'm using a tripod that my father bought in the 1960's, and gave to me a few months ago. I just think that's kinda cool. The girlfriend and I made a date out of it, had a nice dinner, and then we walked around for a few hours.

It's getting harder and harder to find a restaurant that allows cigar smoking in this town. I'd like to be able to sit back, fire up a good stogie and have a glass of scotch after dinner. That seems to be fading away in Seattle. If there's any businessmen reading, here's an idea for you to run with: Start up a restaurant where you can smoke a good cigar, and you don't have to hide in some little room to do so. It'll be a hit, trust me. Market yourself to the smokers, place ads in cigar magazines, put up ads in all the smokeshops. You'll be rich. With all the BS that cigar smokers have gone through in this state, we'd welcome a place that looks at us like decent customers. Seriously, you're talking about people who will spend $10-$15 for a single good cigar, do you think we're gonna skimp on the dinner that we have right before we smoke it? Hell no.

All in all, it's been a relaxing weekend. If I see anything that gets my heartrate up, I'll post it.

There's nothing so boring as being threatened by a troll. I just checked my email and found this from our pal, Michael Ross of Portland Oregon.

And let's do some deductive reasoning, shall we? I get spammed by a troll. I take the troll's IPs, and I go to other sites who have been hit by a troll to compare IPs. We compare IP numbers, and they're the same. Hmmmmm.... So we take those IP numbers to other websites and have the owners compare them. Yep, they check out. Gee golly gosh, I wonder why?

So someone does some digging, and finds a name, address, and phone number. (That would be yours, Mike) It's not enough to just post it up, I needed some confirmation. And I got it, trust me. So there are three logical paths that I could take.

1) My troll is Michael Ross.
2) My troll is part of some troll collective who all use the same IP numbers (a definite possiblity, as proven yesterday.)
3) My troll isn't Michael Ross, but uses the exact same IP numbers in an effort to implicate Michael Ross. (Least likely)

Now, let's put aside the fact that all three points would be moot if our pal Michael Ross wasn't a fuckwitted troll who repeatedly spams websites, uses proxy IPs to get around bans, and makes an ass of himself everywhere he goes. Let's put aside the fact that our pal Micheal Ross has made enemies in several different time zones, all of whom would like to see him go away. And let's put aside the fact that all the information on Michael Ross is public information that anyone can find if they want to. We're going to work on assumption Number 3, just to give our troll a break.

I've told you this twice before, Micheal, and this is the third and last time. If you're not the troll, as you so claim, PROVE IT. Otherwise, go the fuck away and shut up. Because all I've gotten from you is hot air and bullshit, and I was tired of it days ago. Prove that you're not the troll, and I will apologise and remove your information. Screw all the news anchors, and especially Jennings and Rather. Screw CNN for paying dictators to let them stay in country all those years for the right to broadcast propaganda, just to win ratings wars and therefore charge their advertisers more money - congratulations! I'm sure it was well worth it. Did you happen to get any quotes from folks just before they were castrated, or had their arms broken, or were fed feet first into shredders? Now THAT would've been entertaining, eh what!

Iraq: How are we doin?...

I am convinced that with today's Democratic party and today's biased media, we could have never won any of our previous wars. We would have given up on the Civil War before Gettysburg and we would have surrendered to the Japanese immediately after Bataan. This column puts our trials and tribulations in Iraq into perspective. It's a great read.

We are now 16 months into the Iraq war. At a similar stage in earlier American wars, how were our forces faring?

Well, at about this point in the French and Indian Wars, George Washington had been defeated and forced to surrender at Fort Necessity (he was released after being disarmed), and then disastrously beaten in a fight where his unit of 1,400 men took 900 casualties and ended up running away. (Washington himself was not injured but had two horses shot from under him, and took four bullets through his coat.)

Washington's next experience of war, in the American Revolution, began with equal tribulation. Sixteen months into his command, the American army was suffering through a series of traumatic defeats. They'd lost every single battle since the Declaration of Independence, and had depleted 90 percent of their military strength in heavy fighting. Most of the remaining soldiers declared they were going to go home when their enlistments expired, and in many parts of the new nation citizens were pledging fresh oaths of allegiance to the tyrant King George.

Sixteen months into the Civil War, a permanent breakaway of the southern states looked like imminent reality. The Union army that marched on Richmond had been beaten with tens of thousands of casualties. Robert E. Lee had launched an invasion of the north, and Washington, D.C. was on the brink of being overrun.

Sixteen months into U.S. involvement in World War II, the Japanese had taken control of all of the Pacific and Southeast Asia. Our British allies had suffered the most catastrophic defeat in their history when they lost 130,000 fighting men in Singapore. The Japanese had just as thumpingly ejected the U.S. from the Philippines, and were actually in their tenth month of occupying American soil in Alaska. It would take 1,000 American dead (far more than our total losses in Iraq to date) merely to eject the enemy from this Aleutian Island foothold over the course of a few days in the seventeenth month of the war.

At month 16 of the war in Europe, meanwhile, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Yugoslavia, and other countries had all been lost. German submarines were in the process of wiping out Atlantic shipping. And death camps like Treblinka had been opened and were in the process of killing millions. By the end of that year, 40 percent of the world's Jews, for instance, would be dead.

And in that very same email, we have a few links that might be of interest to various people. Let's see, we have the Troll Lounge, where trolls like to brag about where they've been. Included in all of this is instructions on how to troll, how to use Proxy IP's, and a list of IPs that you can use in order to spam other sites.

Just how fucking worthless are these people? I mean, their big thrill in life comes from annoying people from behind a computer screen. I can't think of anything more chickenshit and cowardly. People like Mike, or "Robert McClellan" are nothing more that slimy little fuckstains on the bedsheets of humanity, and here I see that they actually enjoy it! "Yay, look at me, I'm such a fucking worm that if people ever actually met me in real life, I'd get the living shit pounded out of me! I have enemies in four different time zones! Yay, I'm fucking worthless! Ain't it great!"

I got two words: Mentally deficient. In any case, if they're dumb enough to put this info in an email, I'm going to use it. So I'll be sitting down tonight and firing off a few letters to quite a few people.

As for mikelx and Bobby McFuckstain, just ignore them. The moment I see their comments, I'm either going to alter it, or delete it. Nader got ya down? Call up your Lawyers and Have him Removed!

That's the plan of the power mad Donks of the Kerry/Edwards campaign. Democrats could be participating in a "mini-Watergate" effort to get Ralph Nader out of the presidential picture, the consumer advocate charged Thursday.

"They're hiring lawyers to go up to technicalities in places like Arizona, they infiltrated our political convention," Nader, an independent candidate for president, told FOX News on Thursday. "I spoke to John Kerry and said 'you'd better look into it because it could be a mini-Watergate, possibly."

Nader said he hasn't yet heard back from the Democratic senator from Massachusetts, who is hoping to oust President Bush from the White House in the November elections.

"This is pretty serious, when you try to lock the civil liberties of American just to get on the ballot so people can vote for the candidate of their choice," Nader continued.

Nader was denied a spot on the Arizona ballot and last Friday again accused the Democrats and Kerry of engaging in political "dirty tricks."

Just hours before the developments in Arizona, Nader complained that the Democratic Party has "stepped up its obstruction tendencies" in challenging his ballot access. The consumer advocate said he had called the Kerry campaign three times last Thursday, asking to chat with the candidate.

"We have to get a clarification if they're going to engage in dirty tricks," Nader told reporters at a news conference to criticize multinational corporations.

The Kerry campaign dismissed Nader's complaints, arguing that Democrats were following the rules when they legally challenged Nader's signatures to get on the ballot. "These are rules that have been on the books for years and they ought to be followed," said Chad Clanton, who added that the Massachusetts senator would be happy to talk to Nader.

In Arizona, supporters of Nader abandoned their effort to get the independent candidate on the presidential ballot after Democrats challenged the validity of thousands of signatures.

Nader's campaign had submitted more than 22,000 signatures to Arizona election officials June 9 -- far more than the 14,694 valid signatures required by state law to compete against President Bush and Kerry.

WASHINGTON — American and Iraqi joint patrols, along with U.S. Special Operations teams, captured two men with explosives in Baghdad on Monday who identified themselves as Iranian intelligence officers, FOX News has confirmed.

Senior officials said it was previously believed that Iran had officers inside Iraq stirring up violence, but this is the first time that self-proclaimed Iranian intelligence agents have been captured within the country.


They're dicking around with UN Inspectors about their nuke facilities, they're sending men into Iraq, they're holding British sailors hostage, at what point do we finally hear President Bush say "The bombing begins in five minutes"? The more that Bush dicks around with Iran, the less his support base will support him! This is a direct attack on Iraq and America, and we can't just sit here and let it slide!

Unless we want to be seen as wishy-washy and weak. Which I'm starting to wonder about. Bush needs to get off his ass and show some leadership. He's sat back while Kerry (and now Edwards) have taken shot after shot at him. He's sat back while Donks have petitioned the FRIGGING UN to come observe our elections. Lack of action is not a strength, Mr. President. It's time you got up and moved.

WASHINGTON – The United Nations has turned down a controversial request by nine members of the U.S. Congress to assign international observers to the U.S. presidential election in November.

The request came in the form of a letter drafted by Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, and signed by eight other members of the House.


All the signers are Democrats, by the way. Why am I not surprised?

However, the UN (showing a remarkable presence of thought) turned them down. Which is a good thing, because if I had seen any damn blue helmets at my polling place on election day, I'd have gotten my guns. So would a lot of other people I know.

By the way, if any of these congresscritters are from your state, I'd suggest getting rid of them at the first opportunity.

Besides Johnson, the other representatives signing the letter to Annan – all Democrats – were Julia Carson of Indiana; Jerrold Nadler, Edolphus Towns, Joseph Crowley and Carolyn B. More Mass Media Lies

The LA Times has been caught with it's pants down yet again.

Last Thursday we reported on Paul Bremer's inspirational farewell speech to the Iraqi people, as seen through the eyes of an Iraqi blogger. We also noted that the frequently-clueless Washington Post had denied that Bremer gave a farewell speech at all.

Now, Patrick Frey of Patterico has written us to point out that as recently as July 4, the Los Angeles Times went the Post one better, not only mis-reporting Bremer's speech, but turning their own error into a major theme of the paper's "news" report:


I won't go into the whole thing, but the question that has been on my mind for quite a while is this: Given the major screw-ups that the major media outlets have tossed up as of late, (saying that retirees are getting called up is just an example), and given how these screw-ups could be fixed by a two-minute search with Google (saying the Bremer didn't give a speech, when people who were there reported on it and blogged on it), when do we start to say that these aren't just screw-ups, but intentional misleadings?

One of the more amazing things about this war has been the totality with which the Left has been willing to whitewash the reality of Saddam's Iraq just to make it look clear that President Bush has made things worse. I hear that F9/11's pre-war scenes include no mass graves, nor rape rooms, nor plastic shredders - just a young man getting his hair cut at the barber and a loving couple dining out to candlelight.

I get questions about the vitriolic tone of the comment section here with some regularity, and my answer is usually the same: there's just not much that I can do about it. True, I can ban people, but that works only if they have a fixed IP address, which these days most people don't. What's more, if the ban fails, the recipient is often pissed off enough to try even harder to make a pain in the ass out of himself.

It's also true that the problem is exponential. A year ago I got 10-20 comments on each post and had no trolls. As a result, the conversation was relatively civil. Today I get 100+ comments per post and the site has at least half a dozen trolls whose only love in life (as near as I can tell) is to start flame wars. The result is a melee....

Memo to al-Zarqawi

Yer screwed, bub.

A group of armed men in Iraq is threatening to kill Jordanian-born militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

The masked men appear in a videotape sent to Al-Arabiya TV, calling themselves ``Salvation Movement.'' In the video, the previously unknown group orders al-Zarqawi to leave Iraq immediately, and questions how he could justify killing innocent civilians.

Three men with rocket-propelled grenades and other weapons deliver the threats while flanked by an Iraqi flag.

One man says the group is preparing to capture or kill al-Zarqawi and those who give him shelter.


How this plays out could be interesting. Of course, the last line is telling:

U.S. officials say the Jordanian -- who is said to have links to al-Qaida -- is behind a series of deadly attacks in Iraq.

Amazing, how US Officials say that Zarqawi is behind the attacks, eh? Maybe because HE HIMSELF CLAIMED CREDIT FOR IT! Golly gee gosh, maybe that's too simplistic for the AP.

Then again, maybe the AP is a bunch of cocked-up asshats. I'm voting for the latter.

Chainsaw Therapy

The Girlfriend and I headed out to a farm yesterday to get rid of some tension. The farm belonged to a friend of a friend, to put it rather simply. They raise rabbits, chickens, a cow or two, just a small little operation. We've had one of their rabbits for dinner before, so I kinda knew the folks, but hadn't really sat down and talked with them at all. The owners had part of a Broadleaf Maple tree come down in the last windstorm, and due to medical reasons they could cut it up with the chainsaw. They also had a few rabbits to cull.

So the girlfriend, myself, and our pal who actually knows these folks headed out to the farm yesterday. After checking the place out and seeing what needed to be done with the tree, we got to business. We also found out that the owners had bought a sheep to slaughter in addition to the rabbits, since there were going to be extra hands around to help.

So they started with the rabbits. I stuck around to watch, because I'll be doing this at some point in the future. While the girlfriend and our pal were gutting and skinning the rabbits, the owners (I'll call them J and K) got out their chainsaw and I got to work. I'll say this, that Maple was frigging HUGE! And to top it all off, there is more that needs to come down from that tree before it falls over. Can you say "Widowmaker"? I can. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the tools I would need to bring it down. Living in the city doesn't require much in the way of tree-felling equipment, ya know? So I started cutting the wood that was already down. After a while, we took a break, had some water, and then got to the sheep. They hadn't quite figured out how they were going to kill it, (They used a pellet rifle on the rabbits. Works like a charm) but some bright (not so) young man had his .45 pistol on him as any good law abiding citizen should. By the way, my .45 is now named "The Shepherd", because I'm sick and twisted like that. Heh. I also learned a few things from all of this.

1) Unlike the pigs I used to raise, who would just stiffen up and fall over when you killed them, sheep spasm. Hard. And they also kick. Stand well clear.

2) Shooting a sheep in the head and causing instant death is the preferred way to do it. Quick, painless, and humane. However, a .45 APC slug tends to liquefy anything inside the skull, which then leaks out of just about any orifice on the head. When the sheep spasms (see above), it tends to fling large amounts of blood everywhere. If you happen to be in the way of that blood, you come away looking like you have been circumcised with a chainsaw. My pants are ruined.

3) Rabbits just kick a lot when they're killed. No biggie. Hold 'em up by the scruff to avoid ruining any meat.

Once the sheep had stopped spasming, we hung it up so that they could start skinning it. After it was hoisted and hung, I went back to the chainsaw and started cutting again. Let me reiterate that this tree was HUGE! And this was just one section of it! It was easily 50 feet long, laying on the ground, and branched out from two or three points. I probably spent a couple of hours cutting this thing into large pieces. Once I got the main parts cut into 6-10 foot lengths, I noticed that the chain was starting to come loose from the saw blade. So I set it down and went to go help with the skinning. Sad to say, they didn't quite need my help. With four people there, one more set of hands would have gotten in the way. So I stood back, drank about a gallon of water (because I was sweating like mad), and watched the girlfriend, our pal, J, and K cut the sheep up. It was about 60 pounds of meat dressed out. Not bad. The total count for the day was one sheep, four rabbits, and one Raging Dave who's lower back was saying really nasty things about him.

By the way, if there are any woodworkers in the Seattle area who would like some maple wood, let me know. J and K want it gone. And there is literally tons of it.

Anyways, working for hours with a chainsaw is a great way of releasing stress. The girlfriend was happy cutting up little fuzzy things for dinner, and we came back with three rabbits for our freezer. After letting them age in there for a couple of weeks, I'll toss them in my smoker for an hour or so before I cook them up. MMMMMMmmmM!

It was a good weekend. I hope you all have a happy Fourth of July.
