Everyone who refuses to enforce our laws, everyone who refuses to secure our border, everyone who enables illegal immigration, is in favor of girls being kidnapped, brought across our border, and being raped THIRTY TIMES A DAY FOR FIVE YEARS.
I have been asked why I'm a hard-ass on several occasions. Many times the person arguing with me says "I thought you were a Christian! I guess you don't believe in forgiveness! I guess you don't believe in compassion!"
Compassion? How compassionate is it to allow children to be raped day after day, year after year? How compassionate is it to allow drugs to come into our country and kill hundreds of thousands of Americans? For every criminal you allow to go free in the name of compassion, there are victim after victim after victim who were victimized only because you allowed their victimizer to go free in the name of "compassion". Where is the compassion for the victims of the criminal? Why does a person who breaks the law rate higher than the law-abiding citizen who gets robbed, or raped, or murdered?
As for forgiveness: Every time Jesus forgave a sinner, what was the next thing he said?
GO FORTH AND SIN NO MORE.
Which means for those people to truly be forgiven, they would have to confess their sins, make penance, and not sin again. THAT is the Christian way.
Allowing criminals to freely enter the country so that they can force teenage girls into prostitution is not the Christian way.
It's sad that I even have to type that statement.
You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. - Robert A. Heinlein -

News you can use
Specifically as it relates to defensive handgun use. I know that there are still a lot of people out there who sneer at smaller calibers when it comes to self defense, but with the improvements in smaller defensive rounds, such as 9mm and .380 ACP, the difference is negligible.
What's the point of this? Avoid mouse guns, but other than that carry the gun that you are comfortable with. Five rounds of .380 hollowpoints in the torso is just as good as five rounds of .45 when it comes to stopping a threat. And let's remember, the goal is not to Dirty Harry your way through a war zone. The goal is to stop the threat and get away alive. You want to fight a war, get weapons chambered for war. You want to make sure you get home alive on Saturday night, you carry a gun that is concealable and accurate for you to shoot.

As Glen Reynolds said...
The K-12 implosion summed up in a single event.
Emphasis mine. Folks, the publik skool sistim is nothing more than daycare for feral youth and the good kids unlucky enough to be forced into these government indoctrination centers. Find any other way of educating your children if you want them to be successful. Homeschool them. Private schools. Charter schools. Parochial schools. But for the love of all that is good and holy, do not force your children to suffer in a public school. There might be a few success stories coming out of publik skool, but there are far, far more examples of good kids being destroyed by their publik skool experience.
William’s grandmother, Karen Fisher, told Fox 13 she was “pretty upset” by the incident and received a call from the school’s principal and the teacher who ordered the cross to be washed off.
“I asked her if she read the Constitution with the First Amendment, and she said, 'No,'” Fisher said.

What a difference a couple decades make.
So, for the past few days I've been at Fort Hood, Texas. Rather busy. But the last time I had been at Hood was back in 1999, when young SP4 Dave was doing mobilization training for a little trip to Bosnia.
Can't say I ever wanted to come back after that trip. But a couple of decades in between visits can change a place. It's still Central Texas, which means it's flat, hot and windy. Not my preferred climate. But other than a month or two in the summer, this wouldn't be a bad place to live.
Oh, and every single Army base still has that one road that is the cheap, run-down, used car lot, crappy bars, strip joints and criminal enterprises drag. That hasn't changed. At Fort Riley, we called that place "Junction City".
Anyone who's been stationed at Riley knows exactly what I mean.
Going home today, so I get to sleep in my own bed. The lodging on post isn't bad, but it's not mine. It doesn't have my wife and a home-cooked meal. Which, by the way, should be meat-free today, as we are in the season of Lent, and every Friday you should be abstaining from meat. The Mrs. and I do that all year round, but it's even more important during Lent. Just an FYI.

"Highly Educated" does not mean "Highly Intelligent"
Especially today, when a college degree doesn't actually mean that you learned anything of value, like economics, or history, or Western Civilization, and universities are indoctrination centers instead of institutions of higher learning.
As I've said before, I've had to correct the spelling, grammar and format of one-page essays from people who held a Master's degree. A degree used to mean something positive. Nowadays, if you hold some degree in the liberal arts, it means you're most likely an indoctrinated hard-core Marxist unable to deal with the real world in any kind of meaningful way, with the added bonus that you don't hold any kind of marketable job skills. Oh, and you have tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loan debt.
Yay, college.
Anyways, given that colleges and universities have been churning out good little Marxists for decades, is it any shock that people are now finding that "highly educated" whites are so intolerant? Yeah. Didn't think so.
Here's a sentence that may surprise many readers: "In general, the most politically intolerant Americans… tend to be whiter, more highly educated, older, more urban, and more partisan themselves."
That's according to a recent article in The Atlantic, which cites the results of a survey conducted by the polling firm PredictWise. The authors were interested in gauging political intolerance—where in the U.S. are people more likely to disassociate from members of the opposite political party?—and were able to assemble a county-by-county index of American intolerance based on poll results.

I'm for it
Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time. Pick one, make it permanent.
Enough of this swinging to and fro. Pick one and stick with it. I've lived in places that didn't change back and forth, and I didn't miss it one single bit. It just needs to go away.
Most of the nation will set their clocks forward one hour this Sunday, and Sen. Marco Rubio is hoping to make the change stick.
The Florida Sen. is expected to reintroduce the his Sunshine Protection Act, which would make Daylight Saving Time permanent for all of the United States, several media outlets in Florida report.

Yup
And this just barely touches on why a modern society that rejects Christianity is bound to fail. As someone else pointed out a while ago, the reason God handed down the Ten Commandments wasn't that he just wanted to tell people what to do. The Ten Commandments is simply how life works best. A society that lives by the Ten Commandments can function together no matter who is a part of that society. But a society that disregards them, and lives however they want to live, ends up with hostility, distrust, and violence.

Going to church
And then cleaning. I have a whole bunch of bottles that need to be sanitized and put away for the impending move.
And when I get to my next duty station, I need to throw away every single bit of cardboard and get new boxes to store the bottles, as the mold her has been so pernicious that I'm having to spray metal lockers down with bleach.

Meet the new Socialists, same as the old Socialists
Man, it's almost amazing how money just gets funneled into their pockets, innit?
It's actually not a shock at all, because this is what Socialists do.
Freshman Democratic representative Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) paid herself tens of thousands of dollars from her campaign's funds during the midterm elections, filings with the Federal Election Commission show.
Tlaib, who was elected to the House last November, began paying herself on May 7, 2018, from Rashida Tlaib for Congress, her campaign committee, and averaged $4,000 per month outside of August, which included two checks of $3,000 each.

So much for that "summit" Bergolio
Yeah, like we expected the guy who's best friends with all the homosexual predators to do anything about them.
Just in case you want to know how deviant and evil Jorge Bergolio is, while he was working up to this "summit" that accomplished nothing, his boyfriend, who also traffics in underage boy prostitutes, was murdering the woman who outed him.
Let me lay this out, because it's almost impossible to grasp. The gay boyfriend of Jorge Bergolio either murdered or paid someone to murder the woman who outed his trafficking of young boys as sexual slaves and prostitutes.
Jorge Bergolio, aka Pope Francis
Has a boyfriend
Who traffics in underage male prostitutes against their will
Who killed the woman who exposed him.
Dear Lord Jesus, purge your Church from this evil that inflicts us, so that we may once again represent you on this earth.
The Vatican’s four-day summit on protecting minors ended Sunday with a whimper. There were no new “concrete, effective measures” to hold Catholic bishops accountable for ignoring and covering up sexual abuse, as Pope Francis had called for before the summit began. There were likewise no discussions of the link between sexual abuse and homosexuality among the clergy, the rampant abuse of adult seminarians by their superiors, or the case of disgraced former Archbishop Theodore McCarrick.
Instead, the summit concluded with a 3,000-word speech by Francis that contained little of substance but was heavy on defensiveness and bureaucratese. Francis rattled off a list of “best practices” for ending violence against children compiled by the World Health Organization, and offered a meandering discussion about how a “great number of” abuse cases are “committed within families”—an obvious attempt to deflect attention from the putative subject of the summit: clerical sexual abuse.

Is NYC that fucking stupid?
Yes, yes they are. Not only did they vote for Alexandria "Donkey Chompers" Ocasio-Chavez, the googly-eyed socialist who's dumber than a sack of wet hammers, they also voted for Bill De Blasio and his communist wife, who just managed to blow away $1.6 billion dollars with no real record of what it was spent on.
Every time I hear anyone on TV or radio try to tell me about how people from NYC are so educated and intelligent, I can only roll my eyes and look at who they elected to represent them. "Oh, but our financial center of the country is in Wall Street!" Doesn't have to be. That's just geography, and it can be moved. "Oh but the arts and culture!" HA! Has anyone been to a museum of art lately? If you wanted a backdrop for a horror movie, all you need to do is stroll into the Modern Art section and take a look around. Modern "art", which seems to come from these vaunted urban areas, is a collection of garbage, mental illness, and wasted paint.
Bottom line, I don't want to hear one smug New Yorker trying to brag on about how great their city is. It's run by "Blah Blah" De Bolshevik, and you have Hugo Chavez's ideological daughter running thousands of jobs away in her first year in office. Bra-fucking-vo. Enjoy the homeless people pissing and shitting on your streets, New Yorkers! It couldn't happen to a nicer toilet of a city.
How many other big-bucks initiatives are in similar straits is unknowable — mostly because bureaucrats never blow the whistle on themselves and also because Gotham’s formal watchdog, city Comptroller Scott Stringer, is among the most incurious individuals ever to hold the office.
That the co-mayors could fly under the radar to burn through $1.6 billion to no obvious good effect is an embarrassment — but understandable in the abstract. Things happen.
That Stringer could sleep through it all is the real scandal; why does the city even have a comptroller, if that’s the standard of performance?Bill "Blah Blah" De Bolshevik is a hard-core Marxist through and through, so we don't even have to guess as to where the money went - it went into the pockets of his political allies and cronies. Just like it does in every Marxist government around the world, ever.

The wife just called the sheriff on our drug-dealing neighbors
But not for the drugs; we don't have enough evidence to give the cops. But for weeks now, they've been burning trash by the barrel-full. And it's always got some plastic and other chemicals in it.
So we come back from returning dogs to the neighbor's place (that's another story) and our entire section of road, as well as a couple of acres around us, are engulfed in smoke that makes our throats burn and our eyes hurt. It's the neighbors, and there's smoke just billowing out of their burn barrel.
"Neighbors" is a rough term, given that we're rather rural. They live down the road, and the smoke is stretching from their property to several hundred yards past ours. The wife starts having problems breathing, and just goes inside to call the local constabulary. Dispatch says that they'll send a sheriff by, and if the neighbors are doing anything wrong the sheriff will make them put the fire out. That's good enough. We're outside of city limits, so we don't even know what the rules are for burning around here.
The Sheriff shows up. Apparently, there was nobody home, so the next thing I know a firetruck shows up, and extinguishes the smoldering barrel of plastic. But for about two hours, we were chased inside by a pall of chemical smoke that was affecting our breathing.
I'm ready to leave this town.
And I'm not kidding about them being drug dealers. As far as I know, they're users as well. At least, that's the way they act.
We still don't know what was smoldering in the barrel.

Justin Trudeau is a corrupt sack of shit
This shouldn't come as a shock to anyone who remembers his daddy. Justin Trudeau was born and raised to be a socialist dictator. There should be no wonders as to why he turned into what he was raised to be.
1. For my American and British friends: Canada's Justin Trudeau is done. He might try to fight on; I personally think he's too damaged. He's irreparably damaged. Here's what happened in a few short tweets. pic.twitter.com/E57BxWPKhK— Ezra Levant š (@ezralevant) February 28, 2019
But hopefully, for our friends up North, his goose is cooked.

Tim Scott argues against killing babies
You would think that in this supposedly "civilized" age, a bill that would prevent babies from being killed would be a no-brainer. But because the Democrats, the Party of Death and Evil, want to destroy Western Civilization as we know it, they are all in on infanticide. They are fully bought in on the concept of killing babies.
It makes me sick to my stomach.
It makes me sick to my stomach.

The New Socialist It Girl provides a lesson in Socialism
That being, the leaders of socialist movements always claim they're with the people, and that lasts up to, but not beyond, the point they get elected. And then it's living rich, baby.
The new leader of the Democrat Party can't even take a few lessons from the old leader. At least Granny Rictus still had a San Fran mansion, albeit surrounded by a massive fence so that the great unwashed hoards couldn't be seen or smelled. The googly-eyed socialist idiot can't even manage to keep an address near the people she supposedly represents.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA SUCKERS! I hope NYC retains this moronic bimbo for years, and I hope she remains the face of the Democrat Party. It would serve New York City right to be represented by an arrogant, elitist, out-of-touch, ignorant snot-nosed piece of socialist crap.
And it’s unclear whether the 29-year-old lawmaker, who represents the Bronx and Queens, actually still lives in the Parkchester neighborhood that has been so closely tied to her rise — even though she won her upset victory over fellow Democrat Rep. Joe Crowley with accusations that his home in Virginia made him too Washington-focused to serve his district.
Ocasio-Cortez has used her deceased father’s Bronx condo on her voter registration since 2012, and even posed in the one-bedroom Bronx flat for celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz in a Vogue magazine profile after her stunning November election. But The Post could find little indication she continues to live there.
The Post emailed Ocasio-Cortez’s spokesman, Corbin Trent, four times with specific questions — which were all ignored. On Saturday, The Post reached Corbin by phone.
“We will not be commenting,” he said. Among the queries he refused to answer: Where does the congresswoman live?

Meanwhile, in Washington, Ocasio-Cortez has rented a pad in a luxe building in the chic Navy Yard neighborhood, where studios start at $1,840 a month, according to the Washington Examiner.
Her new digs feature gold-plated amenities like a rooftop infinity pool, a cycling studio with a dozen pricey Pelotons, men’s and women’s saunas, and a golf simulation lounge — but no affordable units for low-income residents, in spite of a local law that requires them, the news site reported.
In the eight months since Ocasio-Cortez’s dramatic defeat of the long-serving Crowley in June’s Democratic primary — a victory that all but guaranteed a general election win in the heavily Democratic District 14 — the congresswoman has failed to open a local office.

Socialism as a Hate Crime
A well thought out article.
And that ties in nicely with this: (Language Warning, NSFW if you work in a civilized office)
Socialism is death, both literally and figuratively.
Which raises the question: given our loose standards on the subject, why isn’t socialism a “hate crime”?
After all, the evidence for its malignant effects is obvious to anyone with sufficient curiosity to look at the historical record. The socialist movement has been responsible for the murder, imprisonment, and torture of many millions, and perhaps hundreds of millions, of innocent people during its heyday in the twentieth century. That history of murder and tyranny continues on a smaller scale today in the handful of countries living under the misfortune of socialism—for example, Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, and (more recently) Venezuela.
How do socialists escape the indictment that, in view of the historical record, they are purveyors of tyranny and mass murder? Many deny that Stalin, Mao, and the others were true socialists and, indeed, that socialism has never really been tried—a manifest absurdity. Senator Sanders and others claim that they are for something called “democratic socialism,” a popular and peaceful version of the doctrine, but that’s what Lenin, Mao, and Castro said until they seized power and immediately began to sing a different tune. Democracy and diversity are what they say when out of power; tyranny and authoritarianism are what they practice once in power. That is the tried-and-true technique of all socialist movements.
And that ties in nicely with this: (Language Warning, NSFW if you work in a civilized office)
Socialism is death, both literally and figuratively.

So the Oscars were last night
Didn't watch. Couldn't care less. I know that Crowder did an Oscars show, replete with mockery and drinking games, but my liver can only take so much. I'm glad we have cultural warriors willing to take the hit.
The thing is, I stopped watching the Oscars a long time ago. Hell, I was just out of high school, and not really into politics, and even back then I knew that the awards were crap, the show itself was crap, and the entire thing seemed like one big exercise in mutual masturbation that only half of the actual attendees seemed to care about.
Kinda like the Grammies. When Milli Vanilli won a Grammy, I stopped caring about the entire award. Forever. Yeah, yeah, it was revoked when the people who apparently did too much cocaine to notice that guys with thick accents and deep voices could sing perfect English two octaves higher woke up and went "Aw, shit!". But I didn't care anymore. The Oscars are the same way. I used to watch a lot of movies. It was an event for me to go to the theater and see the latest comedy, or action flick. But the Oscar for "best" movie would always go to so crappy film I had never heard of, but that all the right people (read drug addicts, pedophiles and various other creeps) in Hollywood all loved because they were drug addicts, pedophiles and various other creeps.
So yeah. Stopped watching the Oscars long before I got political, because it was a crappy show that loved crappy movies, and I didn't think they were really worth all that much attention. So now that all of Hollywood is "woke" and loves to tell me how much they hate me because I'm a conservative male, traditional Catholic, and mostly white? That just gives me even more incentive to not watch a damn thing. And I mean not watch a damn thing. The last time I was in a movie theater was for the Second Hobbit movie. When did that come out? 2014? 2015? And we went because someone had given us a gift certificate for that theater chain. The last time I actually PAID to see a movie? I think it was Avengers Age of Ultron, at the second run theater when I was on Vacation. Other than that? Nope. I don't watch the work of people who hate me.
So, I don't care who won best picture, or actor, or whatever. And judging from what I see around the country, there's vastly more people who feel the way I do than not.

Worst. Russian. Asset. EVAR!
Gonna be pushing natural gas out of the USA. You know who the biggest loser is going to be on that? Russia.
All the NeverTrump cucks who wail about how Trump just isn't the "right guy" are the same idiots, backstabbers and swamp creatures who never managed to get half of Trump's accomplishments when they were in office. And all the Leftist morons, half-wits, slack-jaws and drooling retards who scream "RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA" at every opportunity were the same ones giving Putin everything he wanted when they were in power.
But now Trump has managed to get more done, against greater odds, than reluctant voters like me ever hoped to dare, and has managed to do real, long-term damage to Russian power.
He's the worst Russian asset, ever.
