Darfur and Sudan

Back? Great. Here's my take:

America can't do jack squat about Darfur right now. We don't have the troops.

If Clinton hadn't done a military fire sale during his eight years in office, we wouldn't be stretched so thin. But he slashed the military. Seriously, Clinton took a double-bit axe to the military on a regular basis, and it shows. It's a testiment to Bush's leadership that the military is doing as well as it is, but the simple fact remains; if we don't get at least another division of Army troops up and running, we can't continue to do the things we're doing. We don't have the manpower. And I'm not even going to touch what the Navy, Air Force and Marines need. I'm sure there are many other people with more knowledge and expertise in those areas than myself.

However, this whole disaster is exposing the rest of the world for what it is. It's exposing the UN (again!) for what it is. Worthless, weak, corrupt, incompetant, and useless. If the rest of the world REALLY wanted to put an end to the genocide, it could. The USA isn't the only country with a military! There are plenty of other countries who have the means to put a stop to the massacres and murder going on in Sudan.

They just don't want to.

Let me add that Britan and Australia, as well as the other countries in our coalition in Iraq are tapped out as well. Contrary to John Kerry's insults and slander, those countries have a hell of a lot more than 500 troops in Iraq and Afganistan. But what about France? Germany? Spain? What about Russia? Where are all the countries who refused to join the USA because we weren't getting rid of Saddam for "the right reasons"? Where are all those countries who call themselves compassionate and caring? Where the hell is the vaunted UN "peacekeepers"?

The protesters here in the USA got one little miniscule part right. It's all about the oil. FRANCE'S oil. France's TotalFinaElf had huge oil contracts with Saddam, and they have their hand in the cookie jar oilcan when it comes to Sudan as well. Germany, for being so "humanitarian" and "peaceloving", doesn't give two hoots about peace anywhere else. And Russia under Putin looks out for itself first. Sudan pumping oil to the rest of the world is competition. Sudan brutalized by thugs and pumping oil to a few corrupt governments like France means Russia can sell it's oil to other countries instead.

And the UN has always been a toothless paper tiger. When your organization consists mostly of corrupt thugs, theocracies, murderers, terrorists, brutal dictators, and criminals of every stripe, all of whom vote against the few upstanding countries trying to do the right thing, you're just S.O.L. Why the hell should Syria allow the world to stop Sudanese genocide? As far as Syria is concerned, that "ethnic cleansing" is perfectly fine! Muslims killing non-muslims! Jihad, Allahu Ackbar, go brother go! Do you really think Cuba gives a shit about Sudan? Hell no! As far as Castro is concerned, the more focus put on Sudan, the less focus put on the murder and torture of dissidents in his own country. Why the hell should Castro help out Sudan?

The only UN peacekeepers worth a damn were the ones from the Anglosphere - America, Australia, and Britan (with Poland recently rejoining the ranks of the competant). The Dutch? Hiding in their compound while civilians get murdered. Everywhere the UN has put troops from other countries than the big four, murder, rape, child prostitution, and corruption has followed. The UN without the USA is worse than nothing, it's an impediment to peace worldwide.

If you want to get a taste of the world without the USA, look at Sudan. If you want to get a taste of Democrat Party policy, look at Sudan. If you want to get a feel for UN control, look at Sudan. If you want to get a taste of how John "Let's enforce UN sanctions" Kerry would handle terrorism.... look at Sudan.

The Strib subhead calls them “Islamic guerrillas” and “fighters” and “militants,” because you know one man’s terrorist is another man’s disciple of God who practices his sharpshooting so he can nail children in the back at 50 paces. This teaser to an inside story made my jaw bruise my sternum:

“This week’s bloodbath in Russia shattered the notion that innocents are taboo terror victims.”

This is why I despair sometimes. Now we learn that innocents are no longer taboo terror victims.

In Najaf, scores of demonstrators took to the streets in the battle-scarred heart of the city near the Imam Ali shrine to protest the presence of al-Sadr and his militia and to back Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani, who brokered last week's peace deal. The agreement called for the Mahdi Army to give up its arms, but many militia members in Najaf are thought to have kept them, hiding them at home or elsewhere.

"The demands of the demonstrators in general and for the people of Najaf especially are to ensure safety and security and to have stability back," said one protester, 38-year-old Abu Mohammed al-Najafi, identifying himself with a nickname.

Demonstrators shouted chants denouncing al-Sadr, including one that equated him with deposed dictator Saddam Hussein.

Remember folks, for the Donks and their whores in the mass media, anything that could be deemed good for Iraq is also good for Bush, and cannot be aired. It might make John Fonda Kerry look bad.

Patriotism, and the lack thereof

EVERY SO OFTEN, A DEMOCRAT POLITICIAN Will rear back on his or her hind legs and roar, "How dare you question my patriotism?" -- as though that were a blacker sin than betraying the country or robbing the productive people in the country blind to finance risky utopian-socialist schemes.

It ought to be a clue -- being that he feels his patriotism under attack (even when it's not) -- that he thinks he's doing something unpatriotic.

I'm wondering, when did it become taboo to call a spade a spade? For too long, the political dictionary has been controlled by the Left. Think about the very term "politically correct". Correct to whom? Not to the Right. The Left speaks about "African-Americans". I want to speak about Americans, no hyphen, no prefix. And yet, it's not "politically correct". Let's just flat out say it. Politically correct=Democrat Party Approved.

How patriotic is it to bear false witness against our military in time of war, poisoning the attitudes of generations of Americans toward our military services, rendering them less able to defend us against the very real threats at large in the world?

My father had red paint poured on him when he came back from Viet Nam. I can remember talking to my mom about it, and how she struggled to hold back tears as she related the story to me, of how they had to keep buying uniforms because the Left kept assaulting my dad. He came back from Viet Nam and was put to work recruiting.

To the Left, he was the perfect target. To John Kerry, he was the perfect target.

It was men like my father who John Kerry accused of murder, rape, and torture. It was men like my father who John Kerry accused of "atrocities reminicent of Ghengis Khan", accusations which were totally baseless and false. And yet John Fonda Kerry has NEVER APOLOGIESED for his role in the degridation of Viet Nam vets, who returned home and wanted to return to normal lives. But you can't live a normal life when you're being spit on, when you have bags of feces thrown at you, or when some idiot is dumping red paint on you or calling you a baby killer. All of those actions were facilitated in part by John Kerry.

You're damn skippy I'm going to question his patriotism.

How patriotic is it to urge, support, and vote in the legislature for massive cuts in every facet of our national defense -- from Defense and weapons appropriations to intelligence budgets -- while saying one is for a -- scorn quotes -- "stronger" America.

When Zell Miller delivered his "Military armed with what? Spitballs?" line at the RNC convention, the crowd roared. And they roared because that wasn't just a throw-away line, it had it's base in the TRUTH. DANEgerus has a link regarding the 1984 defense budget that John Kerry voted against. In that budget were included the MX Missile, B-1 Bomber, Anti-Satellite Systems, 'Star Wars', Tomahawk Cruise Missile, AH-64 Helicopters, Division Air Defense Gun (DIVAD), Patriot Air Defense Missile, Aegis Air-Defense Cruiser, Battleship Reactivation, AV-8B Harrier, F-15 Fighter, F-14 Fighter, Phoenix Air-to-Air Missile, and the Sparrow Air-to-Air Missile. I've bold-faced the weapons systems that that I know were used in Iraq and Afganistan. If John Kerry had his way, our military would be under-equipped and unable to do it's job. And lest anyone think that he was just voting against some pork bill, here's a quote from John Kerry on that very bill.

"There's no excuse for casting even one vote for unnecessary weapons of destruction and as your Senator, I will never do so."

He KNEW what he was voting against. It wasn't some pork bill he opposed, he flat out admits that HE DID NOT WANT THE USA TO HAVE THOSE WEAPONS AND WEAPON SYSTEMS! Hell yeah, I'm questioning his patriotism!

How patriotic is it -- after the national debate has been had and support expressed in the lawful halls of government by both parties -- for one party to continually attack our war leaders while we're engaged?

When Al Gore, the 2000 Democrat nominee to the presidential election, calls conservative bloggers and web pundits digital brownshirts, then yes I'll question your patriotism.

When you lie about employment numbers just to win an election, hell yes I'll question your patriotism! And yes, DANEgerus has yet another link to prove that John Kerry lied!

When the only record you run on is a four month span in Viet Nam, with no reference to your actions afterwards nor your nineteen year Senate record, then yes, I'll question your patriotism!

When you call your opponent AWOL, yet refuse to release your military records to clear up inconsistancies, then yes, I'll question your patriotism!

When your supporters call American military members "occupiers", when the mouthpiece of your Party calls American's "stupid", when your supporters riot in the streets while calling conservatives "facists", "nazis", "jackbooted thugs", and "war profiteers", and you disavow NONE OF IT, then hell yes I'll question your patriotism!

Four months of combat does not innoculate you from critisim of your actions ever since you got back in country! You might have been a Naval Officer, but meeting up with North Vietnamese Communists in Paris while you're supposed to report to Naval Reserve Duty is anything but patriotic! Hell yes, I'll question your patriotism!

The lies, slander, abuse, false accusations and insults Kerry directed at my father and other Viet Nam veterans disgusts me. The way that Kerry has tried to evade questions about his record disgusts me. The way Kerry lies in order to score cheap political points disgusts me. The way he can't answer a single question honestly disgusts me. And his voting record in the Senate revolts me.

It's about time we stopped using the set of rules handed down by the Democrats. Every time John Fonda Kerry whines "Don't you question my patriotism!", someone needs to step up and ask "Why not?".

Because Kerry has been anything but patriotic for the past thirty years. And calling him on that should not be a source of embaressment.

The seizure of a school full of children was not a far step down from the gleeful immolation of four contract workers in Iraq. Jihadiis define all Americans as legitimate targets and do not lament any Iraqi children within the bomb radius. In England, Sheikh Yousef Al-Qardhawi, head of the International Council of Muslim Clerics published a new fatwa declaring: it is an obligation incumbent on the Muslims to kill American citizens in Iraq…it is forbidden however to desecrate their corpses.

The path to School Number One runs through Spain and the Philippines and the appeasement of terrorists. It runs through the Sudan where hundreds of thousands of children may die in an accommodation to the sovereignty of a brutal Islamic regime. It runs daily through Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and India, in smaller but no less brutal acts of jihad.

A Weak Argument needs a Weak Opponent

That's gotta be the only reason that Pat Buchanan is still around.

Seriously, I'm looking at "Meet The Press" right now, and there's 'ol Pat, mumbling away on something or other. Why the hell is this guy still around? He doesn't speak for the Republican Party. He's not a part of mainstream conservative thought. He's out on the fringe, blathering away, alive only because the Democrats need a weak opponent on national programs so that they can debate and not have their ass handed to them on a silver platter. Buchanan doesn't speak for me, or for any of the people on the Right side of the political spectrum that I know. Hell, I can imagine the internal dialogue that went on in Tim Russert's head.

"Crap, we've got Bob Graham on today. How the hell can I make him look good? The guy's a senile mushmouthed loon! Damndamndamndamndamn... oh wait! CALL PAT BUCHANAN! He makes ANY Democrat look good!"

The guy is out of any real politics (due to the fact that he's a nut), and he's out of touch with Conservatism today. His only reason for being on TV is the fact that the Democrats can't debate with a real conservative, so they bring in the soft guy to make themselves look good. If the Donks had to debate any real Republican, they'd get their asses handed to them the majority of the time.

Too Damn Good

Sir George over at the Rott links to a piece from a San Francisco newspaper that shows a moment of honest truth.

I know, I know, honest truth from a San Fran fishwrap? But it's true. However, it's not just the article I wanted to bring to your attention, it's the writing from George that accompanies it.

I think George just lifted himself up with Bill Whittle as a master of wordcraft.

Though John Kerry may be skilled at shooting kids in the back or backstabbing anyone dumb enough to put their faith in him, he didn't exactly hold a gun to anyone's head and make them pull the voting lever for him. He's the anti-____ candidate who depends on masses of well-meaning but poorly informed voters to mistakenly guess what fills in that blank to grant him his ambitions. He's the embodiment of a candidate of the flaky, by the flaky, and for the flaky, and the more thoughtful flakes are figuring that out.

That has to be one of the best stinging rebukes of John Fonda Kerry I've ever read. And there's more!

Their fear of religion had them supporting a brutal fundamentalist theocracy; their demand for sexual equality had them supporting a country where women were horsewhipped for showing ankle; their horror at genocide had them supporting a man who ran death camps to meet the mass grave quotas; their disgust for soldiers had them support a country that was little more than an army ruling over the captive breeding stock that refilled the ranks; their fear of Ashcroft had them supporting a police state where people routinely disappear for not praising their maximum leader loudly enough; their outrage over the Florida election had them supporting a man who'd eliminated the last person foolish enough to vote against him. So after all these contradictions it was only a small thing to find themselves on a Quixotic quest to find a pro-war/anti-war candidate, a war-criminal/war-hero, an unwounded casualty, a patriotic traitor. Yet not all on the left can sleep at night just by toking the bong, drinking the Kool-Aid, and saying three "Hell Bushes", so articles like this will keep oozing out at an ever increasing rate as Kerry flounders on his own contradictions, finishing much like this one, with the stark truth of the situation.

I wish I'd written that.

Why do I point to this? Because as I said, it's indicative of the political spectrums. By and large, the blogs of the Right are on this story. Michelle at A Small Victory is raising money for the victims of this terrorist attack. Most of the blogs on the right are expressing their outrage at the murder of innocent kids.

The Left? They're whining about Zell Miller and the RNC convention. They're bitching about Bush's poll bounce. And above all, they're insulting anyone to the Right of themselves.

Let's start making a few. Or at least flatten everything in a two mile diameter and then make the rubble bounce.

But why, you ask?

Here's why.

What An Entrance

Last night at the Republican National Convention, the President made (IMO) an awesome entrance. After a nice video warm up, two lighted panels moved opposite directions toward each other between the two large screens on either side of the stage and crossed in the center revealing the President standing behind where they'd met. There were many impressive performances, but (as a fan of G.W.) that was my favorite moment. I love Sara Evans, and appreciated her musical performance as well as the Harlem Choir, and Michael W. Smith. My favorite speech is a toss up between Arnold and G.W. with George Pataki, Tommy Franks, Michael Steele, John McCain, Rudy Guiliani, Zell Miller and Elisabeth Hasselbeck all close behind. The best part is that I know exactly how those delegates felt. I wish I had been there. Instead, I'll settle for purchasing the DVDs from C-SPAN for a small fotune. I'm only getting nights 2 and 4 for the time being. I'll get the rest later on. They'll replay some of the speeches this Saturday so I may be able to fill in a few gaps then.

I'm sure the donkeys would love for everyone to believe that the whole convention was one Zell Miller speech after another. Not so. Especially not so in regards to President Bush. One of my favorite speeches came from George Pataki who spent equal time on praising Bush and damning Kerry. Flipper will do more damage to himself than we ever could. Look at his infantile tirade just MOMENTS after our convention wrapped. Scared much, Flipper? I loved Governor Pataki's spin on the DNC convention theme, "Hype is on the way." I'll go further. Hype is HERE! Kerry blusters about "questioning his patriotism"......no Flipper. Just your honesty, integrity, character, and leadership ability. On all points he has been found wanting......badly. How hypocritical is it to blast people for questioning your "patriotism" only to blast someone else for their military service or lack there of in the same breath?! He's bitter. He's wounded. And he thinks his medals (the ones he THREW OVER THE WHITE HOUSE FENCE) earn him a free pass. Arrogance. "I don't fall down." Sure, you don't. "That son of a bitch knocked me down." That "son of a bitch" was there to take a bullet for your sorry ass. "They raped, cut off heads,......" Traitor! "Christmas in Cambodia" Liar! A late night rally RIGHT after the GOP convention wraps. Desperate Loser.

It was a sunny Saturday morning on the course and a man was beginning his pre-shot routine, visualizing his upcoming shot, when a voice came over the clubhouse loudspeaker.

"Would the gentleman on the woman's tee back up to the men's tee please!!"

He was still deep in his routine, seemingly impervious to the interruption.

Again the announcement, "Would the MAN on the WOMEN'S tee kindly back up to the men's tee."

He simply ignored the guy and kept concentrating.

Once more the announcer yelled, "Would the man on the woman's tee back up to the men's tee, PLEASE!"

He finally stopped, turned, looked through the clubhouse window directly at the person with the mike and shouted back, "Would the person in the clubhouse kindly shut the hell up and let me play my second shot?"

I posted this in the comments down below, but I thought it deserved it's own link. Outside the Perimiter has links to a video that shows the so-called "peacefull" protesters attacking a group of ProtestWarrior folks.

It's not quite work safe; lots of crude language, all of it from the brain-dead leftists. It's 1984 in modern day video. I can't believe that some idiot who's tearing up signs and trying to prevent someone from having their say can scream "You hate free speech!" at the same time. Doubleplus ungood!

Take a good, long, hard look. Those aren't Americans. I don't care where they were born, they have abdicated the very values that make a person American. I don't care where they live, they have adopted the tactics of our enemies.

My Eyes Have Seen - The 2004 Farm Progress Show. A Story of American Conservative Republicans

I would like to preface this entry into this growing conservative resource that I call "The 4" with a statement of appreciation for members of our online community. Readers/contributors/ideological brethren must know that we are all appreciated. The internet has given us a meeting place of limitless practicality. Let us cherish and preserve it as the hallmark of freedom that it is. Thank you.


Decisions and Resolve:

Thank you, Mom. Today I attended a rally for our 43rd President, George W. Bush. It was held at the 2004 Farm Progress Show. I do not have the official stats, but I've been told that 16,000 tickets were disseminated as requested. We arrived at the ticket pickup location only to find locked doors and "no more tickets" signs. After a couple of phone calls it was determined that as of 8PM Monday evening, our reserved tickets had been given to others who wanted to attend the event. We had missed a deadline. After a very brief struggle with self pity, we decided that, with the next several hours already dedicated to President Bush, we would make our way to the event in Hope that we would be let into the show despite our flubbed preparations.

Arrival and First Impressions:

With expedience we made our way to exit 96 behind a couple of W's fans, and in short order found ourselves in a massive glut of travelers with like intentions. The parking area was a large field, which seemed to have been plowed (perhaps the year before) hence it's rugged terrain. While walking toward the entrance to the show, we noticed that a car containing some older people had become lodged in one such rut. David (my companion for this day and all around awesome guy) and I helped push the car past this obstacle and were praised by passers by, "Helping other people! Right on!". Why did I mention this? Not for self aggrandizement. What I did is what each one of us should and hopefully would do. I mentioned it because a group of young "W sportin'" men recognized the fruition of our good citizenship with boisterous approval. It was a great start to a great day!

As Luck Would Have it:

We asked the woman at the gate if we could acquire a ticket to see the President and she directed us to a group of people directly behind her inside the show grounds. We explained our circumstances and repeated to them our request. After filling out a sheet, we had our tickets! I wish I could say this was karma, but such things can not be known and humility is required. In some alternate universe we may have ignored the folks with the stuck car only to find that a few hundred Bush enthusiasts had just cleaned house at the ticket stand.

The Weather:

Gorgeous! A bit warm in among all those people. Very little in the way of complaints....even from yours truly, a rarity. That didn't stop some vendors from distributing fee Coca-Cola and handfuls of ice cubes.

The Show:

The proceedings began with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance. It felt good to see so many people participate in both, first reverently then with pride. I have never attended an event of this type. I did attend a wedding also visited by Iowa's previous Governor, (I miss you Terry!!!!) Terry Branstad who happened to be one of our first speakers. Awesome surprise! I would like to take a moment to apologize to those speakers left unmentioned, as this is merely an after thought to my day, my memory fails them. They deserved the applause visited upon them at the conclusion of each of their contributions....that and more. Next up was Senator McCain. I just read his convention speech the night before. He was still on message. He gave props to Rudy attaining the crowds approval, equal to his own. David and I were about 50 feet from the stage. I've been told that I'm loud. :) I tapped that for them all, and those in attendance made big noise for Bush.

Reaction To The Slapping Of The Flipper:

In our discussions of the day, David and I agreed that the crowds reaction to quoting Flipper was hardly hate filled. There were a few boos. Oh, but how we laughed. For what more can one do with the utterances of a buffoon. John Kerry's arrogant, ignorant, and selfish behavior both PAST and PRESENT have earned him our ridicule and (even in much smaller allowances owing to the arrogance previously mentioned) our pity.

Return:

I made it home in time for an important family event....but just barely. I am very very very very very very very glad that I did. That set the tone for the rest of my evening. Now home, the TV is set to C-SPAN (Thank you, Drumwaster). I should be recording this in MPEG-2, but I wanted to write this...I hope they replay it.....again. President Bush has a nice family. Arnold's speech!!! Rawk! The Harlem Chior! I loved it! Then I rejoined you on The 4. And I read about the violence and hatred born of leftist ignorance and visited upon the delegates to the 2004 Republican National Convention by the same sick leftist idiots. The contrast could not be more obvious, or more troubling, or sad, or pathetic, or so very telling! Those are the people who want to elect John Kerry.

I can not over state the value of the internet, friends. Major Media Leftist goon squad got ya down? Tell friends where to turn! Call them...and your neighbors! Tell them that because of the leadership of George Bush as much if not more than the state of the lying, violent, hate filled, ignorant left.....we have a long way to fall. You have a positive message. Spread it! Get together with others.

The D.C. National Guard is stationing high-powered lights in the Dupont Circle area this week to brighten dark streets that might have contributed to a rash of robberies and the slaying of a popular waiter at a neighborhood restaurant, officials said yesterday.

Violent crime in D.C. is so bad that they have to call out the National Freaking Guard!

Some of the floodlights -- part of a D.C. National Guard anti-crime program -- are scheduled to be in the Dupont area until Saturday, according to Staff Sgt. Lorenzo Parnell of the D.C. Air National Guard.

For years, the National Guard has deployed the lights throughout the city, mostly in areas known for heavy drug dealing.

(sarcasm)Yeah, because those lights worked soooooooooo well before! We'll just keep trying the same thing until we get better results!(/sarcasm)

How much more evidence do you need? Gun Control DOES NOT WORK! Look at the areas with the strictest gun control, and you will find high violent crime rates without fail! Gun control only turns citizens into victims, while doing NOTHING to prevent criminals from getting guns!

If you go to a liberal protest, you WILL see cops in riot gear. You WILL see vandalism and violence. You WILL see things being broken, and if there are any conservative counter-protesters you WILL see the counter-protesters being harassed and assaulted.

If you go to a Conservative protest, you will see cops in regular duty gear, looking bored because Conservatives as a rule DON'T BREAK THE LAW OR GO ON RIOTS! You won't see conservatives burning public property or smashing a shop window.

-A group of protesters set on fire a large “Dragon Float” while they marched. When the fire was extinguished, it was discovered that there were bags of golf balls secreted inside the dragon. Purpose of the golf balls is unknown. For safety reasons, it should be assumed that they were to be used against members of the force for unlawful purposes.

Castle Argghhh! has a video of former Texas Lt. Gov. Barnes lying his ass off for John Fonda Kerry. This is the same incident that TVE brought to our attention.

Why do I bring this up? Because John of Argghhh! points out that the mass media isn't acknowledging the fact that Barnes lied. They just chopped off the quote that proves he's lying and kept running the very same story!

Do you wonder why I call the media "The Democrat's Whores"? You shouldn't. For too long the mass media has gotten it's information by sucking on the shriveled siphillitic phalluses of the Left, and it's gotten ever so obvious in the past few months. This piece by Nick Shultz is yet ANOTHER highlight into how worthless and biased the mainstream press is.

Harper's magazine editor Lewis Lapham is being appropriately mocked for a major pre-GOP-convention boner. In the September issue of his magazine, which has been on newsstands for over a week, Lapham writes about the "Republican propaganda mill" and the GOP convention:

"The speeches in Madison Square Garden affirmed the great truths now routinely preached from the pulpits of Fox News and the Wall Street Journal -- government the problem, not the solution; the social contract a dead letter; the free market the answer to every maiden's prayer -- and while listening to the hollow rattle of the rhetorical brass and tin, I remembered the question that [Richard] Hofstadter didn't stay to answer. How did a set of ideas both archaic and bizarre make its way into the center ring of the American political circus?"

That's right, Lapham wrote about the GOP convention speeches before anyone even stepped to the podium. Lapham has apologized for what he's calling a "rhetorical invention," use of "poetic license," and a "mistake."

That's right folks, he wrote a leftist diatribe about the speeches at the Republican convention BEFORE THE CONVENTION EVEN OCCURRED! So what if Lapham doesn't know what the speeches are, he'll go ahead and smear them anyways! Those pesky facts never stopped a Liberal before, and Lapham will be damned if he'll let the truth get in his way!

But the only "mistake" Lapham made is in revealing for all to see what has long been known by anyone who pays attention to the news: the major media routinely bring to their coverage of significant political events a predetermined storyline -- you might want to call it a "Lapham". Facts that undermine the storyline are ignored or explained away as aberrations to The Truth. For the editor of Harper's and other establishment press figures, it really makes no difference to them what will be said at Madison Square Garden because the Laphams are already set, loaded in the scribblers' word processors and television anchor tele-prompters and ready to go.

Oh, THAT Liberal Media is dedicated to exposing the leftist bias in the national media, and they can't even keep up with everything! The press is so wound up trying to get Kerry elected that they've abandoned all pretense of objectivity, while attempting to claim that they are the very heart and soul of objective reporting. If it weren't so disgustingly pathetic it would be funny.

But just because the enemy is in plain view doesn't make them any less dangerous.

I know that people are probably tired of hearing about the media bias over and over, but it's something that needs to be exposed at every turn. The Democrat's Whores can't be left unsupervised for one second. Every Leftist cant, every falsehood, every instance of withholding truth in favor of biased Leftist muck needs to be held up and shoved in people's faces. Nobody ever changed the world by ignoring it's problems. We need to keep hammering away at the ivory towers until they come crumbling down. Don't allow the Left's lies to go unchallenged.

Realize just one important fact: You don't need 99% of the national mass media. THEY need YOU. Starve them off and find alternate sources of information, and the Democrat's Whores will have to either change, or die.

Jet Lagged

I got back into Seattle yesterday, suffering from jet lag and wishing I lived somewhere else. Ah well, soon.

I need to remember that going to a family member's wedding isn't really a vacation, even if you want it to be. It was fun? Yes. Worth it? Without a doubt. I would have gone to my brother's wedding even if I had to walk across the country to do it. But it wasn't a vacation.

The location was awsome. Our family had rented out a house on the waterfront in Wareham, MA. I woke up to the sound of boat horns and black cormorants splashing in Buzzards Bay. The house itself was built in 1875, with several additions added throughout the years. It was owned by a former antiques dealer, so the entire house was filled with tons of old relics and oddities. I loved the place. It just had history filling it, from the 18th century kitchen utinsils hanging on the kitchen wall to the Civil War flintlock in the billiards room. And it was the perfect place for a wedding. The ceremony was held outside, in front of the water. Short, sweet, simple and to the point.

The one downside: Mosquitos. Everybody was just eaten alive when we were on the back lawn, and the wind kept blowing out the citronella candles that we were trying to use. But it was still worth it.

And the FOOD! Oh my goodness, the tons and tons of food.... Let me just say that neither side of my family skimps when it comes to our victuals, or our booze. I think I gained twenty pounds; Pants that fit me just fine when I left last week are now straining at the seams when I put them on. Lobster, beef tenderloin, veggies of all types and styles, chicken, raw oysters, steamed mussels, clams, clam chowder, four different types of cheese just at the rehersal dinner alone, fresh corn on the cob, and on and on and on...... You never go hungry at one of my family's gatherings. And the bar was pretty much open 24/7. I killed a bottle of Jameson's Whiskey just by myself, and that doesn't bring into account the Bombay Sapphire that I interspersed into my drinking routine, nor the beer that people insisted I try. My flask is filled with Maker's Mark right now, brought home with me on the plane.

I had brought a bundle of good cigars with me, and my brother had picked up a box of good stogies as well. Other people brought more cigars, and we had them all in a big humidor in the billiards room. People could just grab a stick and wander down to the dock, standing over the water and looking out at Cape Cod while they smoked, enjoying the sound of water hitting wood and boats motoring out into the open seas.

I managed to get a hold of Bruce from mAss Backwards, but unfortunately I wasn't able to make time for a range session or a beer with him. The one day I had free was suddenly tied up with getting items needed for the wedding, and then the bachelor party that night. Bruce, if I had found the time I would have loved to go shooting with ya. I'll be back there next year at the very least, so there's still a chance we can get together.

All in all it was a damn good wedding, and I had a good time. I avoided the news while I was there, so I have a week's worth of catching up to do. I'll do my reading and then get back to politics as usual. From what I'm reading, John Fonda Kerry has been cut off at the knees as of late. Heh. It couldn't happen to a more deserving liar. And now his lackeys and hanger-ons are being exposed as the worthless truth-challenged idiots that they are, which is causing me no end of laughter.

I can't wait till November 2nd.

Flipper Or Just A Blatant Liar?

First up, we have John Flipper Kerry blustering about his Anti-Castro....ness. Wouldn't ya know it! He's still voting for something before the final vote which he, of course, votes against.

"I'm pretty tough on Castro, because I think he's running one of the last vestiges of a Stalinist secret police government in the world," Kerry told WPLG-ABC 10 reporter Michael Putney in an interview to be aired at 11:30 this morning.

Then, reaching back eight years to one of the more significant efforts to toughen sanctions on the communist island, Kerry volunteered: "And I voted for the Helms-Burton legislation to be tough on companies that deal with him."

It seemed the correct answer in a year in which Democratic strategists think they can make a play for at least a portion of the important Cuban-American vote -- as they did in 1996 when more than three in 10 backed President Clinton's reelection after he signed the sanctions measure written by Sen. Jesse Helms and Rep. Dan Burton.
There is only one problem: Kerry voted against it.

Now, does Kerry care that he's a pathetic liar? Hell no! He's lied this lie before!

Referring to the Helms Burton legislation in an excerpt from a Slate article quoted at Blogs For Bush:

Kerry aides told Wallsten that Kerry voted against the final bill because he disagreed with some technicalities added at the last minute, but that he voted for an earlier version of the bill. But every piece of legislation that comes before the Senate is subjected to a succession of votes, many of them tactical in nature. The only vote that counts is final passage. If it were otherwise, any legislator could claim to have voted for or against almost any bill, depending on the audience, and there would be no accountability at all.

His decision to highlight votes on procedural motions before the vote for final passage of a bill followed by this decision to highlight those procedural votes rather than the up or down vote is utter premeditated duplicitous political slight of hand. Looking at how he votes on final passage tells us, as opposed to how he votes procedural, EXACTLY what John Flipper Kerry finds most important! He'll send our troops to war, but he won't give them what they need to do the job. He'll recognize that Castro is a Stalinist thug hunk of crap, but he won't stick it to the bastard.

Supporting President Bush

Several days ago, I helped place phone calls to voters in my county in support of President Bush. Tomorrow night, I will do the exact same thing. This Tuesday I am planning to see President Bush at the Farm Progress Show. I stongly encourage all of you to contact your local RNC and ask what you can do to show your support for President Bush. Yard Signs, , Window Signs, Bumper Stickers, Volunteering Time, and Join Others in Greeting the President at his campaign stops. We've a long distance to fall in regards to the quality of our representation in the Federal Executive. Every little bit of effort counts!

Speak up, Alan!

Today, Alan Greenspan spoke about the fraudulent "retirement" scheme known as Social Security. Social Insecurity is nothing but a government-operated ponzi scheme. A bubble built on false promises. Like Enron, except that contributions are involuntary. Plain and simple. The system adds no value, so the benefits of people withdrawing from the system are paid for by the people paying into the system. The amount that you cough up for it is conveniently obscured by the fact that 50% of the money comes from your employer. The system works when the payers vastly outnumber the payees and the pyramind is growing. And just like every other pyramid, the system collapses when the trend reverses. That's due to happen in a decade or two.

One day, politicians are going to have to stop pussyfooting around this issue and deal with it. This is going to become a center stage issue in American politics, like Iraq is today. I don't know if it will be five years from now, ten, or twenty, but it will happen. Whatever happens, it's not going to be pretty. Ultimately, I expect the country to fall into two camps: those who want to reform or destroy the program altogether, and those who want to subsidize the program with federal income taxes to keep it intact. Politicians will have to start taking sides. Ultimately, I expect the "subsidize the program with taxes" side to win for one reason -- the payees vote at a much greater rate than the payers. Whatever happens, the solution is going to be very ugly and unfair for somebody.

Just once, I wish that a politician would communicate this issue to young people. The only politicians who ever court the young vote are Left Wing moonbats like Jerry Brown and Howard Dean. Politicians only visit college campuses to preach about saving the rainforest, socialized medicine, and putting dirty oil companies out of business. I'd like to see a politician visit a college campus and tell the students how badly they are getting cornholed by Social Insecurity instead.

Greenspan warns of abrupt and painful choices unless baby boomer pension benefits are trimmed

JACKSON, Wyo. - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said Friday that the country will face ``abrupt and painful'' choices if Congress does not move quickly to trim the Social Security and Medicare benefits that have been promised to the baby boom generation.

Returning to a politically explosive issue that he has addressed a number of times this year, Greenspan said that it was wrong for the government to hold out the promise of more retirement benefits than it is capable of providing.

He said this issue was particularly critical given the impending retirement of 77 million baby boomers born in the two decades after World War II.

``As a nation, we owe it to our retirees to promise only the benefits that can be delivered,'' Greenspan said in opening remarks to a two-day conference sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City on the challenges posed by aging populations.

``If we have promised more than our economy has the ability to deliver, as I fear we may have, we must recalibrate our public programs so that pending retirees have time to adjust through other channels,'' Greenspan said. ``If we delay, the adjustments could be abrupt and painful.''

Greenspan, as he has done previously, suggested that possible changes would be raising the retirement age to receive full Social Security benefits, which currently is gradually increasing from 65 to 67.

His stories to the Senate committee were absolute lies.. fabrications.. perjury.. fantasies, with NO substance. That dark shadow has defamed the entire Vietnam War veteran population, and gave "Aid and Comfort" to our enemies..the Vietnamese Communists. Kerry's stories were outright fabrications, and were intended for political gain with the radical left..McGovern, Teddy and Bobby Kennedy followers, Jane Fonda, Tom Hayden, and the radical left who fantasized that George McGovern was going to be elected in 1972. Dancehall star Beenie Man, who has recorded anti-gay songs in the past, was yanked from a concert associated with the MTV Video Music Awards this weekend after gay groups planned a protest, the network said Wednesday.

MTV pulled the Jamaican singer from the roster Tuesday after South Florida gay activists announced plans to protest Saturday's concert in Miami over some of his past lyrics, including "I'm dreaming of a new Jamaica, come to execute all the gays" and "Queers must be killed."

Perspective.

...comes this excerpt:

"in our opinion, and from our experience, there is nothing in South Vietnam which

That sounds isolationist to me. The "freedom" of any man or woman is worth fighting for only if it impacts the United States. It's reasonable, I guess, and directly at odds with what is commonly termed "The Bush Doctrine", which states that oppressed people turn violent while free people turn productive, so American security benefits from the spread of freedom.

I wonder what Senator Kerry's opinion about that passage above would be today. It always puzzles me when American Leftists try to claim a deep caring for human rights when they oppose using our huge military might to provide those rights to people who aren't American.

Reiteration of Priorities Regarding Flipper's Past Behavior and Future Plans

If John Flipper Kerry hadn't blatantly prostituted his previous military service, it would not be an issue. As he has, and people who suffered his crap in the past have taken him to task on the specifics of his chest pounding, I see nothing wrong with watching and commenting upon the spectacle. However, I find his lying self-serving show trial style testimony before members of the U.S. Senate in 1971 far far more relevant to the Kerry of today. He is still a braggart. What's worse is that he is just as much a war politicizing traitor today as he was over 30 years ago. There is absolutely no excuse for using his status as a veteran of the Vietnam war to malign those whose lives were still at risk in the cause of defeating great evil. When we pulled our troops out of the region, the enemy took over. When they did, much blood was spilled and many people suffered. A couple-few million human lives were lost in Cambodia. Horrific! Kerry's allegations did not exist in a vacuum. The enemy used his rhetoric to demoralize and torture our captive soldiers. The American public suffered similarly as star power shadowed political machination. Kerry being a willing tool of the later as he cloaked himself as one of our heroes while painting them with demonic brush. Those same elements have found new blood and a new cause, rising to challenge our resolve in the conflicts we currently face. And look who's riding on their shoulders. I maintain that Saddam Hussein knew his options. He stood no chance against our military. He hid. He waited. For what? A free Iraq was Hussein's undoing, but Iraq in chaos held hope. Thugs killing American soldiers and Iraqi civilians in mass. Ungrateful cowards back seat driving the war effort. If only they kill more of our brave men and women. If only they prevent peace and prosperity for the country of Iraq. Then maybe the Americans will elect a dove. They'll pull our troops out of the region forsaking all they've bled and died for. They'll choose expedience over stability. Then as now, our challenges are an enemy in theater working in concert with an enemy within our ranks. In Vietnam, our enemy didn't have to defeat our military at their doorstep. Kerry was doing their job for them when he lied about his fellow soldiers in public spectacle. A few million people died, but look where it got him.

The Usamas of the world target the leaders of their own people who fail to fall in line as well as any outsiders who threaten their designs. Make no mistake. If they are victorious, those who sat idly by or attempted to thwart those who fought against them will either fall in line with their demands or suffer our fate as well. These are their terms. How many of our soldiers and how many of those depending on us for a chance at freedom have to die in order to further Flipper's career this time around? After November 2nd....hopefully none.

The President is taking his lumps out there from the right regarding his call for 527 ads to end. I think I see the political gambit though:

a) Kerry folks will WAY outspend Bush partisans on 527 ads in the next 60 days, and hence

b) Bush wants to harangue Kerry into denouncing the 527s on his side. (as if...)

So I find myself not wanting to get into the President's kitchen about this, though I agree with most right of center opinion I have heard, which is that there should be NO RESTRICTIONS on political speech.

Dole Questions Kerry's Vietnam Wounds

Now the charges have gravitas, as they say.

Former Republican Sen. Bob Dole suggested Sunday that John Kerry (news - web sites) apologize for past testimony before Congress about alleged atrocities during the Vietnam War and joined critics of the Democratic presidential candidate who say he received an early exit from combat for "superficial wounds."

Dole also called on Kerry to release all the records of his service in Vietnam.

This is problematic for Democrats for two reasons:

a) Big Funded Media cannot ignore Dole the way they ignored those Nam-vets-turned-on-the-Bush-payroll-alkies, can they?

b) All those Left of Center folks who suddenly feel the need to support a decorated veteran over a service dodger have to reconcile their vote for Clinton over Dole eight years ago. Or, , they would would, if they had a conscience, but, as we know, a conscience is optional on all makes and models of American Leftist.

Head East, Young Man!

The girlfriend and I are getting on a plane late tonight and flying to The People's Republic of Taxachusetts for a week. The cause? The marriage of my one and only brother. This is one of the weddings I've been talking about. It's sucking up every last bit of cash I have, but you DO NOT miss your brother's nuptuals, and you DO NOT skimp while you're there!

It's just not done.

So I have the cigars and the booze stowed away, bags packed, the girlfriend's brother watching the dog for us and a friend and neighbor willing to shoot any strangers he might find around the house while we're gone. Burglers be warned, he's more bloodthirsty than I am. That's why I asked HIM to watch the house. I'll be back in a week. To make this story short, don't expect anything from me while I'm gone. Family trumps the 'net every time without exception. Luckily, you still have Tim, TVE and Bayou to keep you informed!

Old Guns and Cheap Ammo

Just to make sure people know where I'm coming from, I've never bought a new gun.

Part of the reason is finances. New guns, especially good guns, cost bookoo bucks. The other part is simply the fact that I like older guns. You will not find a new Springfield M1903. They stopped making them years ago. The only ones out there are used. You will not find a brand new SKS. They were replaced by the AK-47. So if you want an SKS, you have to buy it used.

However, buying used guns has it's disadvantages, wear and tear being formost among them. My old SKS is a Yugoslavian model, and it's probably 50 years old. I have no idea how many rounds have been put through that barrel. Hell, I've put over 5,000 rounds through my Marlin .22 since I got it, and I got it used.

And, of course, one of the side effects of putting that many rounds through the gun is that your accuracy eventually starts to degrade. And that's what I thought had happened to my SKS. I had put quite a few rounds through it, and I couldn't get any kind of decent shot groups. Hell, I had my girlfriend put rounds through it and she couldn't do any better. No matter what I tried, I just couldn't get any kind of consistancy in my shot groupings. And I know that I'm not that bad a shot, as my other shot groups with different guns can attest.

However, I never once thought about the ammo I was using. Analog Kid handed me two stripper clips of ammo, and I produced this:



You can count 'em if you want, that's twenty holes. I put my hand there to give you an idea of what the shot grouping was like. A twenty round shot group that fits under the palm of my hand.

Hot damn, there's life in the old gun yet! AK, you gotta let me know what kind of ammo that was. I'd say those are pretty good results.

Military Medals

Time to be frank, if I may. I'm enjoying watching the Kerry camp spin and twist over John Fonda Kerry's Viet Nam service. Flipper knows that he can't run on his post-Viet Nam record, so he made his four months of service the major focus of his campaign. However, since he was an opportunistic slimeball from day one, the people who worked with him are ripping him to shreds.

And I'm loving every minute of it. Trust me, I'm sitting back and laughing my ass off as Team Kerry goes into a tailspin. From his lies to his flip-flopping on issues, every piece of news is turning out negative no matter how hard the fifth-column media tries to spin it. As for the mass media itself, it's loosing credibility every day. They've dropped the facade of non-partisanship and are openly attempting to get Kerry elected.

And they're failing. I love it.

However, I think that there's a whole lot of confusion regarding Kerry's service medals, how he got them, and what it means. So for those who haven't been in the military, here's a quick primer for ya.

Half of the medals awarded to service members are subjective. Bottom line.

The other half are medals that must be awarded for certain actions. The Army Service Ribbon for example. If you served in the Army, you wear it. The Army Overseas Ribbon is awarded to any Army soldier who serves a minimum of six months overseas. The National Defense Service Medal is awarded to anyone who served within specific time periods. All of these are examples of ribbons that must be awarded based on set standards. If you did x, you got the ribbon.

However, the other half of awards are more subjective. The criteria for the Army Achievement Medal reads:

The Army Achievement Medal is awarded to any member of the armed forces of the United States, or to any member of the armed forces of a friendly foreign nation, who while serving in any capacity with the Army in a non-combat area on or after 1 August 1981, distinguished himself by meritorious service or achievement of a lesser degree than required for award of the Army Commendation Medal. The Army Achievement Medal will not be awarded to general officers.

What is "meritorious service"? That can be anything the person writing up the medal wants it to be. Did you keep the crappers clean for a month? Did you completely revamp and overhaul the motorpool? Depending on who your CO is, whether or not your 1SG dislikes you, all of these things can have an effect on what award you can get. The criteria for the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal are equally subjective. It's not just about what you did, it's about who put you up for the medal, and who approves the request. What one commander might consider worthy of an Army Commendation Medal, another commander might think worthy of only a Letter of Commendation, not even a medal.

And it is here that we get into the whole sticky mess about John Fonda Kerry.

Just to give you an idea about the subjectiveness of military awards, when I ETS'ed from my last unit, my team leader and squad leader put me in for a Meritorious Service Medal. In their minds, the work I had done, and the amount I contributed to the platoon and company rated an MSM. However, it was downgraded at the Battalion level to an Army Achievement Medal. Their reason? "Lower enlisteds don't get MSM's." My efforts and contributions to the unit were entirely subjective to the Battalion. Again, much of what decides an award is who writes it and who approves it. It was rare to see a lower enlisted soldier with an Army Commendation Medal. And yet it was just as rare to see an officer with LESS than an ACM. That was the way the politics worked at my unit. Rank and the buddy network trumped actual effort almost every time. It was a large part of the reason I got out of the active duty Army to begin with.

So, with that knowledge in mind, we need to find out who wrote up John Fonda Kerry's medal recomendations. We already know that Kerry wrote the after-action reports, but that doesn't mean much. He was the commander of the boat, he's SUPPOSED to write the after-action reports. However, as the commander of the boat, he's also in charge of writing up award recomendations, and he's the main link in the chain of APPROVING said medal requests. Did he embelish the reasons for the award? Did he out and out lie? Did the actions that the award is based on actually occur? This is the information that those of us who weren't there need in order to say whether or not the awards were based on fallacious merits.

Of course, we would be able to have this information if Kerry would fully release his military records, as President Bush did months ago. But Kerry still hasn't done that.

So where does that leave us? I myself can't say whether or not Kerry deserves a Silver Star, because I don't have the info I need. All I have is the story put out by John Fonda Kerry, and the statements of over 250 men who say he's lying.

250 to 1. Those aren't good odds for John Fonda Kerry.

So while I may not directly state that Kerry's medals are worthless, I will however defer to those men who worked with him, lived with him, and dealt with him for four months and twelve days.

And those men say that John Fonda Kerry is full of shit. I think that's all I need to know about Kerry's service.
