Letter from Iraq
A reader send me a link to a letter from Iraq. Well worth the time to read the whole thing.
Condoleezza Demonstrates How To Lay A Leftist Meme To Rest With Extreme Prejudice!
NSA Rice utterly destroys the Left's "Bush didn't take Al Qaeda seriously" meme using *GASP* FACTS! Don't believe me? Read her statements before the 9/11 commission. Muhuhahahahahahah >:)
A little short notice
Have you ever fired an AK-47? S'ok, I haven't either, so don't be shy. Just raise your hands.
Now, what if I told you that someone made a system that hooked two AK-47s together, fitted with trigger actuators, that rendered those AK's capable of emptying a 75 round drum of ammo in 10 seconds? Would you want to shoot them then?
Now is your chance.
So far, it's Analog Kid, Myself, and Mollbot that are heading over to the Tri-Cities area to go shoot this thing. I'm also bringing a few other guns, as is both AK and Mollbot. If you want to get in on this, just email me, or go tell AK (follow the link). It'll be a potluck style event, so I'm bringing some of my home-smoked salmon. We shall chow DOWN, my brothers and sisters! We're also carpooling if possible, so we can share the gas costs.
So, folks - is there anyone interested? The Tri-Cities are halfway across the state, and to the south a little bit. People from Spokane are welcome and it would probably take you less time to get there since you don't have to go across the passes. Anyone wants to go, just let us know.
The regular Blastorama is scheduled for the 17th of April, don't worry. But I'm shooting all my rifle ammo at this event.

Ouch
OK, by now everyone is sick and tired of hearing about the Daily Kotz debacle. But some people can't let it go. Kathryn Cramer, for one.
Who's Kathryn Cramer, you ask? Why that would be the person who attempted to say that Mike Teague, one of the Security people killed in Iraq, was a member of the Aryan Nations. Yep. Not happy enough to have Kos deriding their deaths, Cramer tried to do the ultimate smear job. And she got caught.
She's following Kos' playbook to the max, as well. Delete, delete, delete, deny.
All I can say is this: Cramer, you are a sick bitch, and you deserve whatever grief you get. The left's attempts to justify their reaction over American deaths is reaching grotesque proportions.
Far left fringe, my ass.

Just wondering...
...how do people who are interested in applauding questions by 9-11 Commission members get into such hearings?

Read that crap through. I needed hip-waders just to open the browser to that page. But the reason that I posted it is because of this statement, from the fifth paragraph.
As for the "liberal bloggers" who have criticized Markos, we'd point out that most of them are not really liberals but centrist Democrats. Shame on them. We discount their criticism and suggest you do too.
Read that again. Dear. G-d. In. Heaven. Imagine, if you will, NRO after the Trent Lott/Strom Thurmand bruha. (For those who don't know, NRO was among the first conservative groups to call for Lott to resign) Imagine Jonah Goldberg and Rich Lowery calling for Lott's head, and for some other group to say "They're not real conservatives. Discount them." Could you see that happening?
Nope. Me either. If there are any moderate Democrats reading this, get out of your Party. Get out now, before you get sucked down in flames. The Democrats no longer have a sane base to return to. The Democrats do not have a far left fringe, THEY ARE THE FAR LEFT!

History Repeats Itself
Once again, Hanoi John Kerry is on his knees sucking off the latest Anti-American thug.
In an interview broadcast Wednesday morning, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry defended terrorist Shiite imam Moqtada al-Sadr as a "legitimate voice" in Iraq, despite that fact that he's led an uprising that has killed nearly 20 American GIs in the last two days.
Just so we all know, an unelected, anti-American, terrorist supporting, murder advocating theocrat is a "legitimate voice" for John Kerry. Hanoi John bent over and grabbed his ankles for the communists of Viet Nam, so I suppose that this isn't much different. I'm actually upset with myself over the fact that I'm shocked about it.
I mean, he's a DEMOCRAT, for one, and he has a history of aiding anyone who wants to destroy America to begin with. The worthless pustule.
Thanks to Allah for bringing it to my attention, along with the fact that the US media is following Hanoi John's lead and going back thirty years in time.
Leftist scum. And don't even THINK about blathering about how it's just some "far left fringe". Fuck you. This isn't some "far left fringe", this is Mainstream Democrat USA.

.38 Special
I've known a few people who sneer at a round as small as a .38 Special. "Not enough velocity" they say. "Too small, no stopping power" they say.
"Oh Really?", I say.
An escaped inmate shot to death Monday evening in a Cascade-area home armed with a loaded .22 rifle and a filet knife had vowed not to go back to jail, and threatened to kill the homeowners and any officer who tried to arrest him.
Robert Carl Nylund, 55, shot the intruder, Paul Anthony Anderson, 26, once in the chest with a .38 revolver he was able to retrieve from his bedroom, Cascade County Sheriff Kent T. Funyak said.
Now THAT is goblin control. It's not the size of the round, folks. It's what you do with it. Put enough .22LR in someone, and they're going down for the count. I have some copper jacketed wadcutters that I slide into my .38 revolver when I want to carry it. Those things hit and then spin/flatten/expand/do ungodly amounts of damage. And more importantly, it's more concealable than my .45, so I can take it places that I can't take my main carry piece.
Oh, and since this occurred in Montana, we get this lovely bit of news.
Nylund has not been cited in Anderson's death, and "I don't anticipate any charges being filed," Funyak said Tuesday.
Cascade County Attorney Brant Light will review the sheriff's reports and decide if this was justifiable use of force, but on the face of things, agreed with Funyak.
"If the facts hold up as they've been presented, this is a clear case of defending yourself and your property," Light said.
Reviewing the case is standard protocol, all cops do it before they give the definitive word. But if the sheriff says "I don't see any charges being filed", you can damn well bet good money that there won't be.
For the record - I don't give a damn WHAT caliber of gun you have, so long as you A) know how to operate it, and B) practice enough to hit the target with it. A hand cannon does you no good if you can't hit what you're aiming at. Don't be picky about the caliber, be picky about how it fits your hand, and how well you can operate it.
But be armed.

UPDATE: Here's a picture of the various rounds we fired off at the last Blastorama that I attended. Mollbot took the picture, I added the text.
Take a look at those rounds. They've all got their differences, their advantages, and their detracting. I'll make my own little list, and anyone with more (or better) info can correct me and fill in the blanks if they need to.
The 500 Magnum - one shot and any man you hit is done. Stick a fork in him. However, the rounds are expensive as all hell, and they can only be fired out of one type of gun. And it's a revolver, so unless you can guarantee "One shot one kill", you'd need to build some sort of speed loader. They don't make speedloaders for this gun. And forget concealing it, this is a hunting gun, not a self-protection gun.
The .45 ACP - Time tested and approved. One of the best rounds out there, and one of the best handgun designs for firing it, the 1911. One or two of these bad boys, even with ball ammunition, and whoever you hit is going down. However, the ammo can get pricey, especially for the Hydro-shock or hollowpoints. Also, a big round requires a big gun, so concealability in hot weather can get somewhat problematic.
S&W 40 - Slightly smaller than the .45 ACP, but quickly becoming a favorite for law enforcement. The safety officer at my work carries this. However, as it's not as widespread as other calibers, ammo cost can become a factor once again. Also, the variety of handguns that use this ammo, while growing, is still somewhat limited. Gun size is also a factor.
9mm - My hatred of this round is well known to anyone who associates with me. However, the round is not without merit. Smaller rounds mean smaller guns, which aids in concealed carry. 9mm is one of the most prolific rounds out there, so getting ammo at a decent price is not a problem. The variety of guns that use the 9mm is ungodly, you can pick and chose. Also, John Browning once called the Browning Benchmark his best design, and if it weren't for the fact that I just don't like this caliber, I would own a Benchmark. Ari (he of the great intellect but few posts) is deadly with the S&W 9mm.
.380 - Think of a miniature 9mm. As far as I can tell, it's the .38 Special round designed to be used in a semi-auto handgun. Easily concealable, yet enough power to hit someone and make them feel it. Not the strongest round, and certainly not the hardest hitting, it will still be enough to stop someone from wreaking violence on you.
.38 Special and .357 Magnum - Same diameter round, but the .357 has a one-tenth of an inch longer case, and more powder behind the bullet giving it a higher velocity. The .38 Special is one of the oldest "modern" rounds, time tested and approved. You can probably find more .38 Special revolvers floating around than almost any other kind of gun, and almost all the .38 revolvers I've seen are easily concealed. Ammo for .38 is everywhere, and at both ends of the price scale. You can also fire .38 Special out of a .357 revolver. The .357 is a ramped up .38 Special, with the higher velocity adding a bit more punch.
.22LR - The caliber that everyone should own at least one firearm in. Hunting for squirrels/gophers/rabbits/small birds/ect., ect., ect., get a .22LR. Picking off annoying vermin? Get a .22. Target shooting? Get a .22. Plinking away at the range? Get a .22. Ammo is cheap, plentiful, and literally everywhere. 500 rounds for ten bucks, and you can stay at the range for hours. You can get hollowpoint, ball, full metal jacket, and sub-sonic, which means you can make a fully suppressed firearm. Concealable? Hell yes. Controllable? Yep, without a doubt. Stopping power? Not unless you're rabbit sized. However, the .22LR was the favorite round of many a hitman back in the day, due to the fact that they could walk up, pump two rounds in someone at close range, and that person would go down. This isn't a sniper rifle by any means, but Kim du Toit did find the report of a goblin being removed from the gene pool by a woman with a six-shot .22LR revolver. You might not kill a man with a single shot, but you'll make him SERIOUSLY reconsider his actions. And I don't care who you are, six little pieces of metal entering your body at high speed will take you out of action. Hit anything vital, and you're done.
So there you are - my humble opinion on several rounds. You want more in depth, go check out Kim's Gratuitous Gun Pics. I'm sure that there are many people with more knowledge than I have who will make corrections to this list, either now or in the future. That's fine. I'm not an expert, and I never claimed to be. But this is my opinion and limited knowledge laid out on these rounds. And with the exception of the S&W 500, ANY of these rounds would be decent for self defense. Some are better than others, in my opinion, but any gun in any of these calibers can save your life, or the lives of your loved ones.
It doesn't matter HOW you're armed, it just matters that you're ARMED.
Let the corrections commence.

A little more Linky Love
OK, so Richard Clarke claims that terrorism was Clinton's top priority, right? And Clarke goes on to say that Bush hasn't done anything about terrorism, blah blah blah, and goes on a witchhunt for Bush, which strangely coincides with the release of his book, which coincides with the TV interview on CBS, who owns the company that is publishing his book.... Hmmmm, conflict of interest? Nah, it's the Leftist media, their only interest would be of the "self" variety.
Anyways, if you believe Richard Clarke, it's all Bush's fault, and Clinton did his best to hunt down Al-Queda. That's the liberal mantra these days, and it's repeated over and over and over by almost every Donk in America.
Too bad for them that it's not the truth.
The final policy paper on national security that President Clinton submitted to Congress, 45,000 words long, makes no mention of al Qaeda and refers to Osama bin Laden by name just four times.
The scarce references to bin Laden and his terror network undercut claims by former White House terrorism analyst Richard A. Clarke that the Clinton administration considered al Qaeda an "urgent" threat, while President Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, "ignored" it.
The Clinton document, titled "A National Security Strategy for a Global Age," is dated December 2000 and is the final official assessment of national security policy and strategy by the Clinton team. The document is publicly available, though no U.S. media outlets have examined it in the context of Mr. Clarke's testimony and new book.
Captain Ed has a preliminary review of the report up at his site. There's a link to the actual report there.
Now, many people are probably saying "So what, Dave?" Here's why I'm bringing this whole damn thing up. The September 11th commission at this point is nothing but a political machine. It might have started out as a group trying to figure out what went wrong and how to prevent it from happening again, but the Democrats, in typical fashion, have turned it into another weapon to try to hurt the President. Look no further than Richard Clarke. His testimony was hailed as the ultimate killing blow against President Bush by all the Leftist fuckwits and their hanger-ons. As Clarke's credibility was shredded piece by piece, they kept trying to find ways to make Clarke's charges stick. They couldn't. This report is yet another nail in the coffin of Clarke's reputation. Yet the Donks are still wildly trying to make any of the lies and smears stick to Bush.
They demanded that Condi Rice testify, despite the separation of powers, despite the lack of precedent, despite the fact that she had already spoken to the commission privately. The demanded that she testify, they slung mud, they lied, they screamed like the shitty children that they are. Why? BECAUSE THEY WERE PRAYING THAT THEY COULD HURT BUSH. Too bad, so sad, they're going to find out what many of us already know. Condi Rice is quite possibly the smartest and most articulate member of the Bush Cabinet. She's going to shred Clarke like a used Kleenex, and thanks to the Donks throwing one gigantic temper tantrum she'll be doing it with the entire country watching her. All of this happened because of the Democrat's need to unseat Bush.
The Democrats aren't interested in protecting this country, they only care about grabbing the reins of power. They don't give a shit if the security problems in this country get fixed or not, so long as they can gain power and blame problems on someone else. They couldn't care less if terrorists invade, so long as they control the country when it happens.
They. Don't. Give. A. Shit. About. Terrorism.
They are using this commission as a way to hurt President Bush. If they were actually serious about stopping terrorism, they wouldn't be screaming hysterically every time some rumor about Bush wafted into a news room. If they actually gave a shit about terrorism, they wouldn't be dragging this commission through the mud. If they actually wanted to prevent terrorism, they would be working with this commission to make sure that the gaping holes that allowed terrorists to strike this country were closed! But they're not doing that. They're doing everything in their power to ensure that Bush doesn't win his re-election, and if that means the commission and all the work it does is wasted, so be it. They don't care.
They have turned this whole commission into a "Let's Blame Bush" spectacle. So be it. They turned on the cameras, it's not our fault if they're caught being fucknozzles while the film is rolling. And trust me, they're getting caught. I hope it sinks them. I hope that the gun they thought they had blows up in their stinking, money-grubbing, bloodstained hands. It's obvious that they don't want to protect this country, so let's get them out of office. I want every Republican challenger to a Democrat incumbent to be able to point at the Democrat's shameful actions and say "Is this who you want representing you?" I want the Democrats to be obliterated as a political party in this country. They have allowed themselves to be absconded by the Anti-American idiots, the socialists, communists, and various other groups who want to see America destroyed. They deserve whatever pain and misery they get.
THAT is why I keep posting about Clarke and Clinton. THAT is why I bring up every example of Democratic hypocrisy that I can find. THAT is why I keep shoving the Donk kool-aid back at the brain-dead idiots who offer it up. They need to be exposed. The rot at their core needs to be shown to the world. And their failures need to be branded on their hides.
If this commission had been left alone to do it's job, I would have been happy, and probably wouldn't have said more than a paragraph about it when the final report came out. But the Donks tried to turn it into a weapon, irregardless of the damage they could cause. So now it's time to take that weapon and beat them to death with it.

Guess what today is?
It's the tenth anniversary of the day when drugged-out wannabe rockers all cried. The day Kurt Cobain blew his heroin addicted brains across his bedroom walls.
Living in Seattle, Cobain is a local hero. And judging from many of the people who live here, they try to emulate everything about him. Including his drug habits.
Look, I admire Nirvana for helping break the crappy bubblegum pop/Madonna/NewKidsOnTheBlock/shitty techno music scene. If I had to watch some coached teenybopper sing yet another song that someone else has written, played by someone else with a Casio keyboard, directed by someone else, choreographed by someone else, I would have taken my hi-hats and rammed it up their asses. So I'm happy that Nirvana hit the scene when they did. I'm also happy that other, better bands followed them. Admire Cobain for what he did, sure, but FOR G-D'S SAKE, stop referring to him as some great music god! He wasn't even that great a guitarist, unless you think power chords are the end all-be all of music! His vocals sounded like a large dog with it's balls caught in a meat grinder, and you can't understand half of what he says! That's not surprising, since the man would do any drug you put in front of him. He was unintelligible for half his life, why should he change on stage? And speaking of not changing, that's another great aspect of Mr. Cobain. He almost never changed his clothes. He barely changed his shoes. Hell, you were lucky if he took a frigging shower, as he was in some drugged out haze for too long to bother with a stupid thing like personal hygiene.
And the rest of his band was left out in the cold after he died. What, people think that this scuzzy, drug sucking, unbathed, powerchord limited, mumblemouthed loser was the only reason that Nirvana existed? Dave Grohl has more talent in his left pinky than Cobain had in his entire body, but it was like people just don't care. "Oh, Kurt's dead, my world is ending!" How sad is it that you have entire legions of fans who's entire world is made up of some self-involved druggie?
You want to know how fucked up Cobain was? Two words: Courtney Love.
So yay, it's the tenth anniversary of Cobain's death. Where the hell is the outpouring for Layne Staley? At least you could understand what the hell he was singing about! But maybe that's the problem. Staley left no doubt as to the message he was trying to get across. With Cobain, you could have all the little dopers in their own little worlds thinking "Oh, gee, I can't understand a single word, he must be singing about something real deep, just like me!" Of course, when you're whacked out on heroin or crank, "real deep" means "That fly is making tie-dye circles on the wall, man! Gimmie another eight-ball!" What a crock.
So great, Nirvana allowed other bands to get into the mainstream. But guess what - many of those bands are still around. Some have broken up, but the members are with new groups, putting out some kick-ass music. Audioslave, anyone? Once Rage Against My Allowance got dumped by their frontman (Yeah, how's that solo career going, Zach?) they hooked up with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and they're putting out songs that make me crank my truck's system to "almost-popping-the-speakers" levels. You can find kick ass music everywhere you look, and who are people still pining for? The drugged out loser. Alice In Chains is done, but people are still crying about how "Courtney killed Kurt!". Wah. Shut the f**k up and put the bong down, you worthless little snots!
I live in a town of Kurt Cobain worship, people. And it's rather pathetic. This town is still trying to pretend that it's in the "Glory Days" of it's music scene, all the while ignoring that it has killed the things that made the music of a decade ago good. As soon as the good bands got noticed, this town sold out faster than a ten dollar whore on payday. Why do you think that there haven't been any more Pearl Jams, or Soundgardens, or AIC, or even another Nirvana coming out of Seattle recently? Because they sold out, they sucked up the dollars that were laid out by the corporate music goons, and now they cry for a dead drugged out loser who hated his life. Try to find an original rock act in this town today, and you're shit out of luck. It's dead. C'mon, Modest Mouse? Nuh uh, they're not cutting it. Here's a clue to the people in Seattle - Kurt Cobain was able to be a drugged out loser screaming trash into a microphone while playing straight powerchords because he had TWO DAMN TALENTED PEOPLE BACKING HIM. You cannot have an entire band of drugged out losers screaming trash into a microphone while playing nothing but powerchords and expect it to work. There is only room for ONE Cobain wannabe in a band, and that's only if you have enough talent to carry him along. Emotion alone does not make a band work.
So now I expect to get a load of grief from some Cobain worshipper. So be it. I'm sick of seeing this man hailed as some sort of rock god. Get a clue, people. Stop whining and crying about this man.
There are so many better people out there. You don't need that guy.

Operation Vigilant Resolve
I hope that the corpse desecrating, civilian killing, terrorist tumblefucks in Fallujah enjoyed their little fun.
Because the Marines are NOT pleased.
Just remember, you mindless morons, we have you on tape, dancing and celebrating while you partied around dead Americans.
Did I mention that the Marines are NOT pleased? You're about to find out what that means.

Leftist scum
Things like this are the reason that I call Loony Leftists "Anti-American scum".
A gasp of disbelief, a sad shake of the head and a feeling of general disgust.
That's how San Marcos residents reacted Saturday morning at the sight of graffiti spray-painted on the still under construction Hays County Veterans Memorial.
Sometime overnight, someone used yellow spray paint to write "Kill Bush" on a section of the memorial where names of local veterans are displayed on a sloping wall. The same slogan, along with others, was repeated on the back of the memorial.
I can only begin to guess at the depths of depravity that would desecrate a memorial to veterans, both dead and alive. This is the end result of moral relativism. This is the end result of post-modernism indoctrination. This is the end result of people who are so foul, so utterly repulsive, that they would spit on a memorial dedicated to the very people who would die to keep these vermin free.
And take a guess who they're voting for.

Old Navy
I want to find whoever came up with those commercials. And then I want to take a sledgehammer to their crap-filled skulls until nothing is left but small shards and pieces. And then I will take those pieces and boil them into a sludge. And then I will dump the sludge into an active volcano, to be incinerated so that those putrid pieces of crap will NEVER BOTHER ANYONE EVER AGAIN!

Heh!
You are a GRAMMAR GOD!
If your mission in life is not already to
preserve the English tongue, it should be.
Congratulations and thank you!
How grammatically sound are you?

Hmmmm....
Congratulations, David!
Your IQ score is 135
This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Tickle's Classic IQ test. Your IQ score is scientifically accurate; to read more about the science behind our IQ test, click here.
During the test, you answered four different types of questions — mathematical, visual-spatial, linguistic and logical. We analyzed how you did on those questions, which reveals the way your brain uniquely works.
We also compared your answers with others who have taken the test, and according to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is an Insightful Linguist.
This means you are highly intelligent and have the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.
Don't know how accurate it is, but it's kinda fun.

Converted
It's amazing what happens when you find your life threatened.
It's what I'd call a quirky neighborhood bar; if you want to call it a dive, I wouldn't argue, as long as you smiled when you said that. Fun place, although definitely quirky, and decorated with a lot of handmade signs, some of which I can't quote and keep my self-established PG rating on this blog.
And it used to be posted, with a sign that read:
THE GOPHER BAR
BANS GUNS IN THESE PREMISES
Not any more.
There was a robbery a couple of weeks ago.
Now, this is the sign that you see as you come in the door. Like most of the signs inside, it's hand-lettered, and perhaps a little hard to read from the picture. It says
ATTENTION
Due to the recent robbery
at Gun Point on Friday ALL Customers
can carry their firearms on these premises
Inside, there's another sign. None of us had a digital camera with us, so I don't have a picture. Next time. But it says, roughly, "carry permit holders are very welcome".
Indeed. Found at the Geek's place. The Geek also has a link to yet another masterpiece by Victor Davis Hanson

Daylight Savings Time
Did you remember to set your clock forward?
I swear, DST is an idea who's time has come, stayed too late at the party, got stinking drunk, puked on the couch, passed out on the floor, and then refused to leave. Can we just dump it? Please? Pretty please? Twice a year we do this, and for what? I've heard different explenations, but can someone give me ONE GOOD REASON why we should be doing this over and over?

Not So Random Thoughts
OK, so now the Daily Kos site has been down for a while. Three sponsors have pulled their ads from his site, costing him quite a bit of cash. Kos has been roundly castigated for his remarks, and subsequent non-apology/dithering/what have you. Hell, John Fonda Kerry's site has de-linked Kos. (And if you've been under a rock for the past week or so, a screen shot of Kos' remarks can be found at Fried Man. Instapundit has a round-up of reaction as well.
So here's what has been bouncing around in my mind for a while. Kos is easily the most popular lefty blogger out there. The Truth Laid Bear has him at Number 3 in the Blog Ecosystem, right below Instapundit and Talking Points Memo. Kos is a political consultant, and has been the number one fundraiser for John Fonda Kerry on the internet. He's not some small fry, he's an actual political player, and definitely considered "mainstream".
The next time some idiot tries to tell me that the people screaming their hate at Americans are "just the far left fringe", I'm going to shove my boot up your ass so far that you'll be licking leather.
If there's one good thing Kos has done, it's expose just how far into hatred and insanity the Democratic Party has sunk. I don't think that the worst days of Clinton Hatred for the Republicans went this far. You never saw Republicans cheering American deaths, or deriding and dismissing them as nothing. You never saw a Republican flat out say "Screw them". Yet the top dog of Leftist blogging, supposedly representative of the Left in the blogosphere, not only gives his callow assessment of these deaths, but feels compelled to not apologize and sneer at the people who are outraged from it!
Far left fringe, my ass.
UPDATE: Via the Mudville Gazette we have the RWN DU comments of the day. Greyhawk suggest you compare the DU posts with the posts from John Kerry's Blog.
As I said - Far left fringe my ass.

Seven Questions
For the Anti-war crowd. And they're good questions.
1. Do you believe that a confrontation with Saddam Hussein’s regime was inevitable or not?
2. Do you believe that a confrontation with an Uday/Qusay regime would have been better?
3. Do you know that Saddam’s envoys were trying to buy a weapons production line off the shelf from North Korea (vide the Kay report) as late as last March?
4. Why do you think Saddam offered "succor" (Mr. Clarke’s word) to the man most wanted in the 1993 bombings in New York?
5. Would you have been in favor of lifting the "no fly zones" over northern and southern Iraq; a 10-year prolongation of the original "Gulf War"?
6. Were you content to have Kurdish and Shiite resistance fighters do all the fighting for us?
7. Do you think that the timing of a confrontation should have been left, as it was in the past, for Baghdad to choose?
Anyone from the other side want to give it a spin?

My first sunburn of the year.
Well, yesterday I'd cleared out the last garden bed, mowed the lawn, and was pretty pleased with myself, when my eye caught the two garden beds I hadn't even bothered with. Who ever was in this house before us didn't do squat with the beds, and they were just a mess. If I actually owned the house instead of renting it, I would have plowed that entire section of yard under and turn it into an actual garden, with all the trimmings. I had planned on just weed-wacking the beds, putting plastic over them and letting them lay fallow for the year. Instead, those two beds just glared at me in an accusatory fashion. Blah.
So I cleared them. Four damned hours for TWO F**CKING GARDEN BEDS, but they're cleared and ready for tomatos. My arms are sunburned to hell, but it was worth it. I also learned a few things about the previous owners and tenants - they didn't know jack shit about gardening, and they never took the proper time to deal with the gardens they had. I was pulling rocks the size of my fist out of those beds, and the weeds had a root network that stretched as far as the eye could see. I was on my hands and knees pulling weed roots, because if you leave just a little bit of it, it'll grow back. Bastardized plants. Four hours, and I'm not letting a single damn weed get their grubby roots on those beds again. I am THROUGH with clearing weeds for the month.
Oh, and in the meantime, I smoked some pork steaks, and I'm in the middle of making my own BBQ sauce. Heading on over to the future brother-in-law's house for dinner. He just bought a house, and it has a damn cool indoor BBQ pit in the kitchen. Unreal, but nice to have. I hope he has enough alcohol to help deal with my back. I'm not meant to be bent over gardening for four hours. Blah. I shoulda just hired some young kids to do it.
Anyways, I'm going to go fiddle with the BBQ sauce. Now go read TVE's post and send off a thank you to Spike TV.

Yeah Yeah.....I know.....the Clintons probably have sex more often than I Blog anymore.
Do you ever get the feeling you (my fellow conservatives) are letting opportunity pass you by? That's because you aren't watching This Just In and telling Spike how much you appreciate it (if indeed you do)!!!
This is the first unapologetic Republican entertainment of this magnitude that I've ever witnessed on national television. Brian Newport is awesome:
Democratic Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe has a doormat outside his office with a picture of George Bush on it and the words “Give Bush the boot.” Hoo, Golly! Is that clever, or what? Get it? You wipe your boot on Bush’s face!
By the way, a#$face, that’s EXACTLY the same thing Saddam Hussein had at one of his palaces. A tile representation of the first Bush, so that whenever any of his d-bag little cronies came in, they got to wipe their boots on the President. Nice company to hang with.
Ah, Democrats. They have the best puns. I bet their coffee cups have funny sayings, too! How will we ever beat them in November when they have Bruce Villanch writing diddies on their on their side?

Linky Love!
I haven't done a good linkly love post in some time, so here goes.
Via the Amazing Kallini Brothers, we find out that job creation has exploded in March. All economic news is coming up roses for Bush, it seems. Of course, John Fonda Kerry has to try and spin it. They also have a good look at how the DOE wastes taxpayer dollars. If you wanted a better reason to string beurocrats up from lightposts, I can't find one. The Kallini's also have the lowdown on the Donks trying to bypass election laws. Great Googly Moogly, Democrats cheating? WHO WOULDA THUNK IT?
From Random Nuclear Strikes we find out that we will eventually be drilling in ANWAR, just not ON ANWAR. Our technology has allowed us to find away around the Eco-Nazis who shriek and gibber at every turn. And for some ass-ripping reading, both Analog Kid and Puggs rip Kos two fresh new assholes. It's somewhat painful to observe, but DAMN it needed to be done. I'm afraid any post I tried to do would be so filled with cursing that it wouldn't be readable.
Curmudeonly and Skeptical wants you to pick a number (not safe for work). Rodger also has more proof that John Fonda Kerry is a lying sack of shit. I really cannot believe that the Donks think he can win.
Kim du Toit has news of Class Warfare being allowed to happen by the Donks. As much as the Democrats say that they're "for the little guy", I don't think I've seen any group of people more willing to shit all over the average Joe than the Donks. Kim also points us in the direction of Aubry Turner, who does a little researching on the Ready.gov website. I'll echo Kim's comments - Anyone who does not have a gun in their emergency kit is opening themselves up for a world of hurt. If the Police can't come to your aid, how will you protect yourself?
I know how I'll protect myself, and any of my friends and family who manage to get to my side. It involves lots of steel and copper-jacketed lead.
The Rott is another person who rips Kos a new asshole as well. Couldn't happen to a more deserving shitbag, in my opinion.
The Doggerel Pundit has a small ode to John Kerry. Sorta. Heh.
The Grouchy Old Cripple rips a troll a new one on the "Bush=Hitler" meme. Dumb Yeah, your lesson is to go read that post. Thatisall.
That should be enough links to keep you busy on a Saturday. I don't know where everyone lives, but if you're in the Pacific Northwest, go out and enjoy some sunshine, dammit! I'm continuing the gardening, since the weather is so damn nice. Just think, in a few weeks I'll have onions and carrots, and lettuce, and spinach, and all sorts of good things popping out of the ground. More tomatos... I'll be making my own tomato sauce again this year. Squash, corn, peas, beans, It's going to be one hell of a summer. I'll see you all later.

Oh yeah, right
Appeasement works. Yep. MmHm. You just keep telling yourself that. Perhaps you can blubber to St. Peter about how those terrorists were supposed to play nice once you capitulated to them.
And if someone dies due to your appeasment, I doubt it'll be St. Peter you're blubbering to.
Hat tip to Random Nuclear Strikes, who also have a revealing pictorial of two men. Love the daisy, John! Now get your ass out of my state!

CAN'T.... STOP..... LAUGHING.....
Allah has me laughing so hard this morning that I damn near pissed my pants. Found that while I was surfing Kim du Toit's site.
Kim, that lucky bastard, got back from his Client Project from Hell in Europe, and immediately set off on the Client Project from Hell Part 2, in Chile. I'd like to welcome him back, but I just can't say "Oh, how was your trip" to a man who was in a lush southern hemisphere country with sea, sand, and lots of unbelieveably good looking women. I frigging KNOW how his trip was. Anyways, if you'd like to get his thoughts on it, head on over and read.

And One More...
A father watched his daughter playing in the garden. He smiled as he reflected on how sweet and innocent his little girl was. Suddenly she just stopped and stared at the ground. He went over to her and noticed she was looking at two spiders mating.
"Daddy, what are those two spiders doing?" she asked.
"They're mating," her father replied.
"What do you call the spider on top, Daddy?" she asked.
"That's a Daddy Longlegs," her father answered.
"So, the other one is Mommy Longlegs?" the little girl asked.
"No," her father replied. "Both of them are Daddy Longlegs."
The little girl thought for a moment, then she stomped them flat and said:
"Well, it might be okay in California, Vermont, and New York, but we're not having any of that shit in Texas.

Quick Joke
Heard before, perhaps.
An Irishman, a Mexican and a blonde guy were doing construction work on scaffolding on the 20th floor of a building. They were eating lunch and the Irishman said, "Corned beef and cabbage. If I get corned beef and cabbage one more time for lunch I'm going to jump off this building."
The Mexican opened his lunch box and exclaimed, "Burritos again! If I get burritos one more time I'm going to jump off, too."
The blond opened his lunch and said, "Bologna again. If I get a bologna sandwich one more time, I'm jumping too."
The next day the Irishman opened his lunch box, saw corned beef and cabbage and jumped to his death.
The Mexican opened his lunch, saw a burrito and jumped too.
The blonde guy opened his lunch, saw the bologna and jumped to his death as well.
At the funeral the Irishman's wife was weeping. She said, "If I'd known how really tired he was of corned beef and cabbage, I never would have given it to him again!"
The Mexican's wife also wept and said, "I could have given him tacos or enchiladas! I didn't realize he hated burritos so much."
Everyone turned and stared at the blonde's wife.
"Hey, don't look at me," she said, "He makes his own lunch."

I'm off to enjoy the sunshine in Seattle today. I might actually get some work on on the garden! WOO HOO!
See you all tomorrow.

Another typical liberal shithead
Tim might remember a foul little turd called Bilmon, who ran a site that we both got banned from. He's a typical Loony Leftist shithead, to say the least. And no, I'm not linking to him. I'm not sending that suckweasel any traffic from this site.
Well, little Bilmon put up a post equating the ambush in Falujah with lynchings from a century ago, and said in effect that "Oh, I told you this was going to happen". He also acts like the typical snide leftist shit.
Of course, when conservatives showed up to object, he deleted their comments. And when he couldn't delete all of them, he just shut the comments down.
Now, I'll be the first to admit to getting rid of asswads like Dumb Yeah. When you contribute nothing except a one sentance verbal spasm that's off the topic, I'll cut you off at the knees. However, people who actually argue, even if they're wrong, stay. You can find tvd's posts, and I think he's as wrong as a loud fart in church. But he's still here.
So here's my question: Why is it that liberals love to talk about wanting free speech, wanting "dialogue", blah blah blah, but then never back up their actions?

Bush's Humor
Remember the (Donk's) uproar over Bush's speech and slide show? Ted Kennedy shaking his jowls in outrage, Kerry droning on and on and on about something, blah blah blah blah blah.
Once again, the Donks have proven that they are, by and large, completely out of touch with anything that has to do with the military. I can't say I'm surpised. I served in the Army under Clinton, and I'm more than convinced that the only way a Democrat should be allowed around the military is if they're contained in a cage and straitjacket. The straitjacket for our protection, the cage for theirs.
Also, in case you missed it, the head of the firefighter's union has decided that his union supports Kerry. The actual firefighters supposedly "represented" by said union have other ideas. Gee, a money grubbing union leader supporting the Donks when the union rank-and-file wish otherwise? Who woulda thunk it?
Thanks to the Mudville Gazette for the links.

I didn't blog on the idiocy of this month's anti-war protests, mainly because anything I had to say was already said. Those people were wrong back then and they're STILL wrong. Mark Steyn has his predictions from a year ago, and how they panned out today.

A few thoughts...
So by now everyone knows that Condi Rice testified before the September 11th committee, right? Good. Personally, I'm of the mind that Bush and Co. were stringing the Donks along, making them whine and seeth as much as possible before finally saying "Fine, have it your way". And then they bring out the nail-studded cluebat and beat the snot out of Clarke, Kerry, and the rest of the foaming-at-the-mouth Donks. But that's only my opinion.
Anyways, what I bet that most people didn't know (and I sure didn't) is that Clarke himself refused to testify in 1999, and used the same reasoning that Condi Rice was giving recently! I don't know how long that link will be active, so I'll cut and paste a few paragraphs from the Congressional Record.
The congressional record; Senator Bennett:
Before the committee comes to order, I have some information to share with you which I'm sure will cause some consternation and disappointment.
We were scheduled -- at the beginning of this gathering we agreed not to call that portion of it a hearing, to have a briefing from Mr. Richard Clarke. And many of you have been notified that he would be here and as recently as yesterday afternoon when I was with him, we were looking forward to his appearance and he was sharing with me some of the areas that he planned to discuss while he was here. Mr. Clarke, as many of you know, is the national coordinator for security and infrastructure protection and counterterrorism on the National Security Council.
Last night, into the evening, we were notified that the legal staff of the National Security Council had determined that it would be inappropriate for Mr. Clarke to appear. I have just spoken to him on the telephone. The rule apparently is that any member of the White House staff who has not been confirmed is not to be allowed to testify before the Congress. They can perform briefings, but they are not to give testimony. And that in response to that rule, Mr. Clarke will not be coming.
He apologized to me for their failure to tell us that in a way that would have prevented our putting out the press notice in advance. I do not, in any sense, attribute any improper motives to Mr. Clarke. We had understood that the briefing could be held as long as there was no record made of it so that it would not be part of the formal hearing. And we were prepared to receive his briefing with the court recorder being instructed not to make any record of it and that that would comply with the rule.
As I say, last evening I received a call at home after the Senate had adjourned telling me that that arrangement would not be acceptable to the legal staff at the National Security Council and that Mr. Clarke, therefore, would not be here.
There shouldn't be any doubt that Richard Clarke is a lying fucknozzle, who's opportunistic and partisan cheap-shots should be disregarded at first notice. This guy is scum. Hat tip to Instapundit.

But I thought Bush didn't do anything.......
I mean, except stop other terrorist attacks, that is.
LONDON — Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, al Qaeda's purported operations chief, has told U.S. interrogators that the group had been planning attacks on the Library Tower in Los Angeles and the Sears Tower in Chicago on the heels of the September 11, 2001, terror strikes.
Those plans were aborted mainly because of the decisive U.S. response to the New York and Washington attacks, which disrupted the terrorist organization's plans so thoroughly that it could not proceed, according to transcripts of his conversations with interrogators.
Gee, destruction of a terrorist enabling regime causes said terrorist organization to break down? WHO WOULDA THUNK IT??
Or is that too simplistic?
Granted, there is the usual preface - The transcripts are prefaced with a warning that Mohammed, the most senior al Qaeda member yet to be caught, "has been known to withhold information or deliberately mislead." However, this is the number three guy in Al-Queda, and most of his info has been good. One would have to wonder why he would lie and make Al-Queda look BAD.

"Guess who used to believe in the Iraq/al-Qaida connection?"
This is great stuff from Christopher Hitchens. It speaks to the four theories of 9-11 and the connection that the Clinton Adminstration (and Richard Clarke) saw between Iraq and al-Qaida (the connection which the Left now is certain never existed until the United States unilaterally invaded Iraq).

Here is audio of Condoleezza Rice talking about Al Qaeda in October 2000, roughly as half year before Richard Clarke told her about Al Qaeda while she sat perpelexed since she had "never heard of the term before".

Greedy Washington Politics
So, Washington State politicians, not content with trashing this state's business economy, now want to push to make it harder for internet businesses based in other states to do business with Washington State citizens. How do I know? Well folks, let me introduce you to something called the Jenkin's Act. It requires companies that engage in interstate cigarette sales to provide information on their customers to state tax administrators.
How do I know about this? Well, I heard about it on the morning radio, and did a little search. Guess what I came up with?
Up to 40,000 Washington residents should soon be receiving letters from the state asking them to pay back taxes on millions of dollars worth of cigarettes they bought through a Web site.
A settlement of a lawsuit filed by Washington state against online cigarette seller www.Dirtcheapcig. com Inc. of Missouri paved the way for the letters, which will be sent by the state Department of Revenue.
The settlement, signed Dec. 1 by U.S. District Judge Robert Lasnick in Tacoma, was little-noticed outside legal circles. But it's drawn quite a bit of attention from other cash-strapped states, which see it as helping to clear the way for them to start collecting more than $1 billion annually in taxes from Internet cigarette sales.
Get it? It doesn't matter where the company is based, or where you buy your smokes from, you're going to get taxed! Hmmmmm, do you think this might pave the way for states to start taxing OTHER internet commerce? Why yes, I think so! Why would they start with cigarettes? Because it's one of the easiest groups to shit on, as proven by the myriad anti-smoking legislation, sin-taxes, and outright dismissal of smoker's rights. But, once the smokers get shit on, you've set a legal precedent to shit on everyone else. If they can tax cigarette sales online, why shouldn't they tax clothing sales online? How about book sales online? I used to buy all my leather supplies online, and they would be able to tax that as well! What's stopping them? They've already got a green light to tax online sales, now they're just looking for targets that won't make people scream at first!
The settlement approved by Lasnick required Dirtcheapcig.com to provide information on its sales to customers in Washington dating back to Jan. 1, 2001, and on future sales to state residents. And it reinforced the rights of the states to pursue civil lawsuits against Web sites that violate the Jenkins Act.
So far, Dirtcheapcig.com has supplied Washington state with the names and addresses of between 35,000 and 40,000 residents who bought cigarettes over the past three years, as well as details on how many packs and what brands were purchased.
State officials estimate the outstanding taxes at about $4 million.
I'm forced to buy my cigars online. The main reason for that is that the Washington State tobacco tax has killed all but two real cigar shops in my area. They've more than doubled the price of cigars. I just spent $35.00 on a box of cigars (see my last post!), and it would have cost me $87.50 if I had bought it in Washington. Think about that. There is a 150% tax on all tobacco products in Washington State. Is it any wonder that people are trying to find cheaper smokes? But now the communist bastards in Olympia are going to find those people and give them the financial equivalent of anal rape with a sandpaper condom. And if you think that they're going to stop with just cigarettes, you need to share whatever you've been smoking.
Just don't buy in online. Or you'll pay.
It's long past time to starve the beast of government. It's time to tell those worthless parasites that they already have enough of our money. I think I'll be writing some pretty nasty letters as soon as I can. They need to get their fingers out of our pockets, and they need to stop now. Don't let these money grubbing pukes start taxing internet sales, or you will never see the end of it.
Cigarettes are just the beginning, folks. Count on it.

Dick Clarke Follies
This was after he had resigned.
Richard Clarke, the country’s first counter-terrorism czar, told me in an interview at his home in Arlington, Virginia, that he wasn’t particularly surprised that the Bush Administration’s efforts to find bin Laden had been stymied by political problems. He had seen such efforts fail before. Clarke, who retired from public service in February and is now a private consultant on security matters, has served every President since Ronald Reagan. He has won a reputation as a tireless advocate for action against Al Qaeda. Clarke emphasized that the C.I.A. director, George Tenet, President Bush, and, before him, President Clinton were all deeply committed to stopping bin Laden; nonetheless, Clarke said, their best efforts had been doomed by bureaucratic clashes, caution, and incessant problems with Pakistan. The New Yorker: Fact

Soooooooooo Good.
I smoked a cigar last night that was made in November of 1999. How do I know? Because the date was stamped, along with the signatures of the three people involved in making that cigar, on the top of the box that the cigar came in.
Fine cigars get better with age, much like good wine or brandy. So this cigar was four years and four months old. I could probably describe it in flowery prose, but I couldn't do it justice. I have had very few cigars that were as good as this one. In fact, the last time I had a cigar this good was when dad pulled out two Cohibas over Christmas vacation. And I have twenty-four more of these puppies sitting in my humidor, just waiting for me. I'll be sending a few to my dad this week.
I cannot stress this enough - if you like good cigars, jump on this deal right now. They're a short, fat cigar, taking about 15 to 25 minutes to smoke. They might not look like the stogies that Ah-nuld chomps on, but you will not find a better smoke for the price.
I found this company through Captain Jim's recomendation, so if you order any cigars make sure you mention his blog as well. He's also got a whole list of cigar links for people to peruse. Besides, y'all were going to head on over there and welcome Jim back to the internet, right? (For those who don't know, a while back Jim's cat made sure that a can of Dr. Pepper landed on his laptop's keyboard. Ouch. But he's up and running again.)

Ouch
Steyn on Clarke.
The latest is a mid-level bureaucrat called Richard Clarke, and by the time you read this his 15 minutes should be just about up. Mr Clarke was Bill Clinton's terrorism guy for eight years and George W Bush's for a somewhat briefer period, and he has now written a book called If Only They'd Listened to Me - whoops, sorry, that should be Against All Enemies: Inside the White House's War on Terror - What Really Happened (Because They Didn't Listen to Me).
Having served both the 42nd and 43rd Presidents, Clarke was supposed to be the most authoritative proponent to advance the Democrats' agreed timeline of the last decade - to whit, from January 1993 to January 2001, Bill Clinton focused like a laser on crafting a brilliant plan to destroy al-Qa'eda, but, alas, just as he had dotted every "i", crossed every "t" and sent the intern to the photocopier, his eight years was up, so Bill gave it to the new guy as he was showing him the Oval Office - "That carpet under the desk could use replacing. Oh, and here's my brilliant plan to destroy al-Qa'eda, which you guys really need to implement right away."
Fookin' brilliant. Fount at Silent Running.

More UN meddling
While perusing the Rott, I came across this little lovely news item. I think I need to go to the range....
UNITED NATIONS - Typically, only heads of state and titans of industry get an audience on the 38th floor of the marble-and-glass tower housing the United Nations.
So when the president of a California nonprofit corporation with an unwieldy name — the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers — met Friday with Secretary-General Kofi Annan, it signaled the group's importance in a computer-driven world.
ICANN oversees the Domain Name System — such as ".com," ".net" and ".org" — that allows computers to find each other in cyberspace. It is sanctioned by the United States government, which funded the Internet's early development.
Are you getting that queasy feeling in your stomach yet? I hope you are, because I feel like I want to vomit after reading this.
Some countries and activists argue that ICANN is too close to the United States and want the United Nations to take a greater role in regulating the Internet.
"Some countries"? Gee, what countries would that be? China? North Korea? Iran? Cuba? Why on earth would they want the power to regulate the internet? Maybe because these dictator controlled shitholes hate free speech, and want to SQUASH it?
"The United Nations would be a good platform for that, because it has legitimacy. The countries are all represented," said Izzeldin Mohamed Osman, a computer science professor from the Sudan University of Science and Technology
"United Nations" and "Legitimacy" should NEVER BE USED IN THE SAME SENTANCE, unless the phrase "complete and total lack of" is between them!
I'm not going to post the whole article, but think about this: When at least half of the UN members are dictators, thugs, and theocracies, do you really think that they care about free speech? NO! I am sick and tired of the Left in this country regarding the UN as some sort of great savior group! If you want to live in a UN controlled country, MOVE YOUR TRANZI ASS TO EUROPE!
Giving the UN control of the internet would destroy it. There is no question about that. And any president who simply allows the UN to gain control of the internet should be hung by the nearest lamp-post. Do you hear that, Dubya? If you allow the UN to get their grubby, blood-stained hands on the 'net, your ass will be voted out faster than you can blink.

Another Parent Who Doesn't Deserve To Be
I was on the couch last night, trying not to die from coughing, and I had the TV on for background noise. Dateline NBC came on, with some special on overweight kids.
Anyways, it's not so much the overweight kids that made me blow my top, it was one of the kid's mother.
The show was following three kids who were trying to lose weight at a "fat camp". You know the deal, make the kids excersize, get them active, lower calorie counts, and all that. But in the middle of the show, one of the kids they were following around gets a call at camp from his mother. Want to guess what dear mommy said?
"I'm leaving for Arizona with my new husband. You're on your own."
One parent is absent from the weekend retreat: TJ's mother. For most of his life, she's been more buddy than parent, but lately, she's been neither. TJ can't understand it. But then, finally, she does call -- and what she says is a bombshell. Over the phone, she tells TJ she is leaving, moving to Arizona with her second husband. TJ will have to fend for himself in California, hopefully living with relatives. And now TJ, a 17-year-old heading to senior year in high school, is an angry and grief-stricken mess.
Red Curtain of Blood. How in god's name can such a worthless sack of shit dare to call herself a parent when she does things like this? As if this poor kid isn't have enough problems in life already, he now gets to deal with the fact that mom F**KING ABANDONED HIM! WHAT THE HELL??
So they hunt down this worthless c**t and ask her what the hell happened. Again, the Red Curtain of Blood decended over my eyes.
Trina says TJ and his step-dad never got along. She was caught in the middle of that, she says. So this summer she decided it would be best to move with her husband and leave TJ behind.
Natalina Guerra: “He's a great kid and I know he'll do good. He just has to find himself and I can't find that for him.”
Morrison: “Even if he feels abandoned?”
Natalina Guerra: “Oh, don't say that.”
If I were the cameraman, I would have stopped filming and beaten this bitch to death with the sound mic. I don't think there are enough foul words in the English language to describe how I feel about this ... thing. I'm not going to consider it as human, because it obviously doesn't have one thing that I think separates humans from animals - compassion. The kid was 17 and this foul blob of shit just dumped him on his ass. Gee, thanks "mom"!
People like that should be shot.

Still sick
I'm still fighting off this damn virus. Not only did I forget to post last weeks council winners, but I forgot to vote on this weeks entries. Gah!
So, this weeks winners are The Smarter Cop, Twenty Questions I'd Like To Ask John F*** Kerry, and Citizen Smash, Down The Rabbit Hole. You can see all the results here.

Hindsight is 20/20
This whole Richard Clarke-9/11 commission thing irritates me. Yes, we probably could have done something earlier, yes we should have been more aggressive against Al Qaeda earlier, no we didn't, and no we weren't. Fine. But looking at it now, 3 years after the fact, is neither important nor useful.
The fact of the matter is that everyone makes mistakes. Perhaps the current administration was too lax before 9/11, but they were no worse than the administration before them (something which, interestingly, Richard Clarke has also pointed out, though the media is trying to pin this squarely on Bush). Everyone at every level of government ignored this problem, and as such everyone -- including the commission members themselves -- bears some responsibility for it.
So what's the practical upshot of this? Nothing, really. Conspiracy theories aside, no one really believes that Bush would have let 9/11 happen had he known about it. He wants to be a two-term president, as all presidents want, and that would have been suicide. I'm not sure I'd called Bush the brightest bulb in the pack, but he's not a total dimwit, and he is politically savvy.
So what's the point of this? The only one I can think of is to publically blast Bush for something important during an election year. And in that context, it doesn't surprise me at all that one of the commission members was... John Kerry.

Well, well, well......
Once again, Analog Kid asks a rather important question regarding a few facts from Richard Clarke's book. As usual, all emphasis is mine.
The media are fascinated with the parts of former White House terrorism czar Richard Clarke's book that trash President Bush as being out to lunch on the al-Qaida threat before 9/11.
But reporters aren't talking about the chapter of "Against All Enemies" that describes how Osama bin Laden cooperated with Iraqi scientists to make weapons of mass destruction - a development that, if true, would more than justify President Bush's decision to go to war in Iraq.
In his book, Clarke describes how the Clinton CIA determined in 1996 that Sudan's Shifa chemical plant, which was allegedly bankrolled by bin Laden, was producing the chemical EMPTA.
"EMPTA is a compound that had been used as a prime ingredient in Iraqi nerve gas," writes Clarke. "It has no other known use, nor had any other nation employed EMPTA to our knowledge for any purpose."
"What was an Iraqi chemical weapons agent doing in Sudan?" the terrorism authority asked.
So, was Clarke lying then, or is he lying now? And more to the point, if the Barking Moonbats are going to take this book at face value, doesn't that automatically prove the Al-Queda/Saddam link? Do we no longer have to listen to ignorant twits scream that Iraq and Al-Queda were separate?

Not Civilized
I don't care what anyone else says. People who make a teenage boy put on a bomb belt and tell him to die for their god are NOT CIVILIZED! Is that understood?
Targeting women and children is not civilized.
Targeting busses, discos and pizza joints is not civilized.
Targeting birthday parties, Passover feasts and Bar Mitzvahs is not civilized.
People scream about Israel committing genocide - let me ask you this. Is there any doubt, given Israel's military capabilities, that if Israel wanted to flatten the Gaza Strip and West bank they could do so?
Why haven't they?
They're civilized. Something that the people sworn to destroy them cannot say about themselves.

Job Market
Now, we've all heard about how horrible the job market is, from the Donks to the local rags. Everywhere you look, people on the left are screaming about how horrible the economy is. Granted, they're somewhat insulated from reality, but that's to be expected.
Anyways, Analog Kid has a question for them.
Read and discuss.

Spring Cleaning
It's a rainy, miserable day here in Seattle. I had a meeting to go to, I'm stick sick, and I decided to at least get something done around the house. So, dishes are done, and my bathroom smells of bleach. I have a hunch that the mildew which is so prevalent in the Pacific Northwest may be part of the cause of my illness. The crap is damn near impossible to get rid of. So I soaked the corner of the bathroom in bleach. If it doesn't kill it, it will at least keep it at bay for a while. I'll go back and wipe the wall down later.
I got some of those zinc drops that Mollbot suggested. They seem to be working, although rather slowly. I spent a good portion of last night coughing up a lung. Blah. I'm not pleasant company to be around right now. I've had to call in sick to work twice this week, and I hate that. We're short staffed, so if I call in sick, they have to pull someone else in to cover for me. Grrrrrrr. I feel like I'm slacking, but when I'm producing vile crap from my nose and chest, I can't work.
So, now that I've at least done some work around the house, it's blog-hopping time. So, let's see what they have.
The Rott has found an interview from a year and a half in the past, chock full of interesting tidbits of info. Such as:
Q: You're saying that the Bush administration did not stop anything that the Clinton administration was doing while it was making these decisions, and by the end of the summer had increased money for covert action five-fold. Is that correct?
A: All of that's correct.
Uh oh, another Bush bootlicker covering his boss' ass, right?
Q: What is your response to the suggestion in the [Aug. 12, 2002] Time [magazine] article that the Bush administration was unwilling to take on board the suggestions made in the Clinton administration because of animus against the — general animus against the foreign policy?
A: I think if there was a general animus that clouded their vision, they might not have kept the same guy dealing with terrorism issue. This is the one issue where the National Security Council leadership decided continuity was important and kept the same guy around, the same team in place. That doesn't sound like animus against uh the previous team to me.
Yep, just another Bushie bootlicker. It has to be, right?
Q: Now the five-fold increase for the money in covert operations against Al Qaeda — did that actually go into effect when it was decided or was that a decision that happened in the next budget year or something?
A: Well, it was gonna go into effect in October, which was the next budget year, so it was a month away.
Q: That actually got into the intelligence budget?
A: Yes it did.
By the way, the person giving the answers is non other than Richard Clarke. Just so ya know. You wonder why I don't trust this guy any farther than I can throw him? Because he's changed his story almost as much as Kerry, who he's tied to by personal aquaintances and prospects of high level government employment. Not the best guy to have in your corner.

Gas Prices on the Rise
Democrats Blame Bush. Oh, wait, that's not news, is it? The sun rises in the East, June is warm while January is cold, and Democrats blame Bush for just about everything. Facts that everybody with a room-temp IQ should know about now.
But what are the real reasons for the price of crude oil going up? Let' ask Kim du Toit, shall we?
They get particularly incensed to discover, as Fred Leuffer points out in NRO, that a key reason for the high oil price is that the Bush administration is buying oil to top up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), which was depleted by the Clinton Administration to help depress oil prices. Typical Democrats. Never mind national security: as long as Joe Citizen can afford to drive his minivan to Disneyworld, all's well with the world.
Anyone remember 1999? Oil prices went up, heating oil costs went up, and Bill Clinton/Al Gore opened the faucets to the SPR. While that in itself doesn't cause any kind of rage, the fact that they did not make plans to REFILL the SPR means that it was just one more problem that they kicked along down the road for someone else to clean up.
We still pay less per gallon than almost any other country on Earth. Try filling up your car in Canada. Make sure to take out a loan first.
But what are the real reasons for the price of crude oil going up? Let' ask Kim du Toit, shall we?

Shrieking Socialist Snotballs
Tell me, has the EU put out any kind of software that can compete with Microsoft? I don't think so. Sun Microsystems? American. Real Player? American. QuickTime? American. So far all the software that I've seen competing with MS in the open market is American.
So why are the EUnichs screaming about this?
European antitrust regulators imposed a record $613 million fine on Microsoft today and ordered the company to change the way it does business in Europe.
The penalties came as the European Commission, the executive arm of the European Union, found that the Redmond-based software giant broke competition laws on the continent, gaining an unfair advantage by failing to give rivals necessary information and by packaging its media player with its Windows operating system.
First of all, I'd tell the EU to take their $613 million fine and shove it straight up their ass. If they didn't like it, tough. Yank all product and support off that continent faster than they can blink, and then watch as they flounder.
"Dominant companies have a special responsibility to ensure that the way they do business doesn't prevent competition on the merits and does not harm consumers and innovation," said Mario Monti, the EU's competition commissioner, in a statement announcing the widely expected decision.
Hey Mario? Microsoft has done more to promote innovation than any other company out there. I know of several groups who create software and form a company FOR THE EXPRESS PURPOSE OF BEING NOTICED BY MICROSOFT. These people know that if they put out a good product, and Microsoft notices them, they're almost guaranteed to be millionaires, plus have jobs WITH Microsoft. More to the point, Microsoft isn't stopping anybody from coming out with a new OS. Ever heard of Linux? Many of the people I associate with don't run any kind of Microsoft product on their computers. There are alternatives, you morons. You're just too damn lazy to find them and use them!
The commission also gave Microsoft 120 days to provide more information about Windows to rival companies developing servers, which connect personal computers to a network such as the Internet. These companies have complained that by withholding crucial information about Windows, Microsoft gives its own servers a compatibility advantage.
Monti said in a news conference today that the European Commission was ensuring that companies developing new software have a fair opportunity to compete in the marketplace. Additionally, he said, consumers and computer makers ought to be able to decide which media player they want.
And NOW we get to what this whole thing is about, don't we? Yes, yes we do! Someone with more computer info may correct me if I'm wrong, but what I read here is this: "We can't come up with our own code, so we're going to make you give us YOURS!"
So, the software code that Microsoft produces, spends millions of dollars testing, tweaking, and putting on the market, is what these socialist fuckwits REALLY want. Having stifled their own citizens creativity, they now have to steal what they want from somewhere else. Having regulated themselves into obscurity, they now have to force someone else to give them what they need in order to compete.
Why don't the EUnichs try this: COME UP WITH YOUR OWN OPERATING SYSTEM, YOU NUMBSKULLS! But that would be too hard, wouldn't it? Not to mention the fact that you've already squeezed your best and brightest out of your EUrinal, through over regulation, crippling taxes, and a system that punishes success and rewards mediocrity.
Bah. If I were Bill Gates, I'd pull every last Windows system off of the frigging shelves in EUnuckistan. Let them flounder. Hey, maybe someone might actually come up with an operating system all on their own!
Heh. Who am I kidding?

Die, Virus! Die!
I must have been pushing myself a little too hard as of late. I was sneezing and coughing Monday, and trying to convice myself that it was just an allergic reaction to being back in Seattle. No suck luck. I spent yesterday hacking up a lung. Today my body is producing some vile crap. Being that I work in a place that requires a rather high amount of cleanliness and sanitation, I can't go to work like this.
Gah. I hate being sick. And I hate missing work more than I hate being sick.

Yay for Capitalism!
The stickers have been ordered. I found a cheaper printer, so the cost will be less as well. If the quality isn't up to snuff, I'll go back to the original printer.
So, now to wait until I get them in my hot little hands.....

Whipping Richard Clark
DANEgerus has links to four different NRO articles, all of them the written equivilant of ripping out Richard Clark's intestines and hanging him with them.

What appears here is a rather lengthy compendium of John Kerry's involvement with Vietnam Veterans Against the War.
The Scarlet Letter
Back when I was in the Army, I took a DUI detection and deterrence course. Training focused on the signs that someone might be drunk, Field Sobriety Testing, other illegal drug use, and the like. There was also a small segment of the class that focused on other countries and their DUI regulations. I cannot remember which countries they talked about at this moment, but I do remember some of the punishments handed out to drunk drivers.
One country took the drunk driver, drove them 25 miles out of town, and forced them to walk home. One country tossed you in jail for a year automatically, with your spouse. That's right, if you got busted for DUI, not only did you get tossed in the hoosegow, but your spouse got tossed in the SAME JAIL CELL with you. Germany, I believe, has an automatic five-year loss of license, and one year in jail.
The point of all this is that many countries have creative ways to prevent people from driving drunk. There are laws in the USA that are creative as well, and a judge in Ohio is using those laws.
A new state law in Ohio requires judges to brand convicted drunk drivers with special "scarlet letter" license plates, with red numbers on a yellow background so other motorists will know exactly what they've done.
Though the crimson-numbered plates have been a sentencing option for the past 37 years, Ohio Municipal Judge John Adkins was one of the few to use it as punishment for DUI before the state law mandate went into effect.
I love it. I really do! If people know that a DUI arrest gives them a virtual brand that screams "I'M A DRUNK LOSER!" maybe they'll think twice about getting behind the wheel after they've had a few.
Let me clarify a bit, if I may. I have picked up the body parts left by a drunk driver. I have seen the damage that drunk driving causes. If I had the power, I would toss DUI offenders in jail, and not let them see the light of day for a full year. Approximately 15,000 people die every year from drunk driving. And it's not just the drunks who die, folks. It's people on their way home from a movie, or a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary, or some poor schmuck on his way home from work who got nailed by some drunk son-of-a-bitch that crossed the center line and plowed headfirst into a car. 140,000 people are seriously injured from drunk drivers. Not a little whiplash, not a small scratch, SERIOUSLY INJURED. Missing limbs, missing sight, missing the use of their legs because John Doe had one for the road, and one ON the road, and ... you get the point.
And if these were actually "accidents", I wouldn't be so pissed off at the drunks. But these aren't "accidents", folks. These are people to make the choice to drink themselves silly and get behind the wheel of a vehicle. These people make the CHOICE to drink and drive. They make the CHOICE to have one more before they go home. These people make the CHOICE to threaten everyone else's life by driving drunk. And no, that's not hyperbole, that's not an exaggeration. A drunk behind the wheel of a one-ton vehicle is a threat to everyone else's life. Two thousand pounds of metal, rubber and plastic rolling down the road at high speeds carries massive amounts of force with it. And when the driver cannot control that vehicle, that force could go anywhere. Including your car, or your body.
15,000 people dead. Think about that. That's an Army division. If the 4th ID was wiped out in Iraq, would America stand for it? Besides the usual anti-American Leftists and communists, no! 140,000 people seriously injured. Imagine everyone you know in a wheelchair. Or in a cast. Or getting fitted for a prosthetic arm. Then go to work, and imagine everyone THERE in a wheel chair, or a cast, or a prosthetic arm. You're not even getting close to the number of people yet.
So seeing these plates makes my heart warm, just a little bit. I WANT drunk drivers humiliated. I WANT drunk drivers tossed in jail. And if you kill someone because you're drunk, I want you in jail for the rest of your life. I want you ruined. I want to see the pain in your face every damn day, because if you choose to drink and drive, you choose to threaten everybody on the road. Nobody holds a gun to your head and forces you to drink. Nobody makes you get behind the wheel when you're drunk. It is PERSONAL CHOICE.
Hell, let's get all the states to adopt the "scarlet letter" plates. It would be a small step towards removing drunks off the road.

The hidden story of Building 7
Did it fall as a result of the WTC towers collapsing around it?
Or was it felled with controlled demolition charges and then carted away before the evidence could be examined?
You Decide

Yet another piece of writing that I believe should be printed out and nailed to the head of every blithering idiot and moron who babbles about Isreal's "occupation" of "Palestine".
At this point, I no longer care if people are on one side or the other. That they choose sides is fine with me. I have chosen mine and I expect my enemy to be as forthcoming. But enough with the false pretenses of peace. People are blowing up in cafes and in the streets of Israel on a regular occurrence, and this is not a new euphemism for peace. Dead people, en masse, means war. Regardless of which side you prefer, this situation is untenable as a negotiating point in time. There is no peace, there is no cease-fire, and there is no road map. There is war, and that is the sad reality. When everyone understands this, and when Israel decides to do something about it without restraint, then there will be a victory and perhaps a new dawn shall emerge.

One Missed Opportunity
So, for those who don't know, I was in Idaho over the weekend. And several people are now high up on my shit list. Why, you ask?
I was in Idaho. I had my 30-06 and sixty rounds of ammunition. I had my truck with four wheel drive. I had a full tank of gas. I could have been anywhere in that state in less than a day. I had my cell phone.
And nobody.... NOBODY.... bothered to call me and tell me that THIS sack of shit was going to be there!
Not only is that festering pustule daring to foul my great state, where I own land, and where I plan on living as soon as humanly possible, but I had a chance to remove that fucking canker sore on humanity's ass, and NOBODY LET ME KNOW THAT ASSHOLE WAS THERE!!!!
There will be hell to pay.
Gah.... I now regret staying away from the news. My Zags got their ass handed to them on a platter by Nevada this weekend, and now I find out that I missed my one great opportunity to clean out America.

More Bullshit from the Biased Media
Why is it that if there's any slight alligation against Bush, the media trumpets it on the front page. But let any of their precious Donks turn up with a smoking gun, bloody clothing, and a missing intern, and it's "a non-story".
Thank god for the internet. We can now find stories like these.

Back in the Saddle Again.
Well, the trip went well. It wasn't relaxing by any means, but it was productive. Plus, much scotch was consumed, cigars were smoked, and my cousins Cathy and Tim were gracious hosts to the Raging Girlfriend and I. Details of the trip to follow later.
I just tallied the votes for the bumper sticker, and the totals are Six votes for B and Six votes for C. Screw you people. But, since many folks wanted the font from B, that's what I'm going to send to the printers. It'll be sent off tonight, and it'll take anywhere from two - eight weeks to get them back. Once I have them in my hot little hands, I'll let you all know. Any suggestions or complains need to be emailed to me before 6 PM Pacific Time.
I've kept myself out of the political news for a few days, so once I catch up, I'll start raging again. From what I heard on the radio, it won't take long.
