More reasons to hate Seattle

I might just get flamed for this.

I pick up the local Leftist rag, the Seattle Weekly, on a semi-regular basis. If you want to find out what the barking moonbats are thinking (oxymoron alert) then this is the place to go. A lot of it is fairly disturbing, because you read it and then sit back thinking "How the hell can that even process in the human brain?" The article I saw today is of that type. The intro to the article reads:

"Capital Hill is nearing rock bottom, plagued by public drug use and drug dealing, a problematic park, a dearth of social services, a short-staffed police precinct, and a mayor who apparently couldn't care less."

The article goes on to describe several of the problems happening on Capital Hill. For those who don't know (and be thankful you don't) Cap Hill is where you go to find anything out of the norm. My tattoo parlor is up there, which is about the only reason I ever venture to that part of the city. Well, that and taking pictures of the local Barking Moonbat Brigade when they're having a protest over something that nobody with half a brain gives a shit about.

The article names the problems pretty damn good. Rampant drug use. Drug dealing. Prostitution. Homelessness. It's all there, and I've seen it with my own two eyes. It's not uncommon to walk down Broadway and have to side-step some tweaked out bum who's staggering around, high as a kite, screaming at people. You can't go a block without being hassled for "some spare change, a quarter, cuz I haven't et for days". The foul stench that these people give off is only overpowered by the smell of cheap booze on their breath. Apparently, the entire problem is getting worse and worse to the point where the residents of Cap Hill can no longer afford to ignore it.

Too bad. They have brought this upon themselves, and now they must live with the results.

You want to know the mindset of the Capitol Hill population? It's summed up quite nicely in the Weekly. Here's a quote for ya:

There's nothing inherently wrong with drug use, prostitution, or drinking (hell, this paper is all for all three).

Do I need to repeat that? Read that sentence again. And again. THAT is the mindset of people in this town, especially on Capitol Hill. Drug use? You won't find a larger group of proponents for drug use than on Capital Hill (and it's neighboring city section, First Hill, aka Pill Hill). If there is any vice than human kind can think up, it is ADVOCATED on Capitol Hill. Now, while this in and of itself can be debated as a good thing vs. a bad thing, what the residents want is really pissing me off.

They want the government to solve the problem.

Let's forget all about the fact that we pretty much encourage drug use! Now that the results are on our doorstep, MAKE THE CITY SOLVE THE PROBLEM! We advocated prostitution, but now that they're selling themselves on our doorstep, MAKE THE CITY SOLVE THE PROBLEM! We said people should be able to drink all they want, but now that they're pissing and puking in our doorstep, MAKE THE CITY SOLVE THE PROBLEM! Let's forget about the fact that everything we've worked for is now a reality, we don't like the results so MAKE THE CITY SOLVE THE PROBLEM!

Every time a cop sneezes in the direction of a favored minority or "disadvantaged group" in this city, there's lawsuits filed, civil action demanded, riots, protests, and all manner of people going nuts. Oh, but now you WANT MORE COPS??? What if they arrest a black man? Will you still riot and demand the cop be fired? And dear god, let's hope that a cop doesn't face a homeless black man on drugs with a weapon! You just wait until the first cop shoots a transient to save his own life, and watch the protests, the speeches, the riots, the demands FLY!

So my response to Capitol Hill is this: SCREW YOU, YOU WORTHLESS TURD-HUMPERS! The problem isn't going to go away, because you REFUSE to eliminate the conditions that allow the problem to thrive in the first place! YOU are the people who wanted to be left alone! YOU are the people who were outraged when a cop arrested a black guy pissing in a doorway. YOU were the people who were "anti-establishment" with your cries of DOWN WITH THE MAN and SAVE THE (fill-in-the-favorite-cause-du-jour-here). YOU were the people who made damn sure that NOTHING COULD BE DONE about the drug use, the transients, the prostitutes, and everything they brought with them. So now YOU deal with the results, you whining lick-spittles! But don't you DARE take a god-damned cent from me until you change your fucking attitude and STOP ALLOWING the drugs and the prostitutes and the transients to rule the roost! Capitol Hill is yet another example of a group of people following a hedonistic lifestyle, but when they're too fucked up to continue they want someone else to solve all their problems for them. These worthless pukes were more than happy to have the druggies and the drunks when it was cool or when they could make a buck off them, but now that the problems inherent in allowing that sort of behavior to continue un-opposed are showing, they want to whine and snivel to the city to fix it and make it all better! These people supported an entire CULTURE of drug use but "Oh gosh we have DRUG DEALERS in the neighborhood! How could that ever happen??? Pass the joint, man."

Go back and read that first quote from the magazine. "There's nothing inherently wrong about drug use, prostitution, or drinking...." THAT is the reason Capitol Hill is a crime infested shithole to begin with! And until people wake the hell up and smell the damn coffee, NOTHING WILL CHANGE. The people of Capitol Hill don't want the problem taken care of because of any kind of morals or discipline, they want those transients gone because "they're harshing my mellow, man!"

But, knowing Seattle like I do, people will bitch, tax dollars will be spent, and the problem will continue. Because too many people feel just like the Weekly does. And those people never, ever, ever learn. Mindless drones without a single original thought in their heads, blathering their bullshit and demanding more money. That's it. That's all there is. The Seattle Weekly might as well be a mainstream newspaper in this city.

This city needs to be carpet bombed, bulldozed, flattened, nuked, carpet bombed again, and then finally flushed into the Puget Sound like the pile of shit that it is. God, I can't wait to get out.
Just kinda sitting here doing some work and popping some random CDs in the players. Know who's really underrated as a band in [our] era?

Pretenders.

Currently Tattooed Love Boys is on, from their debut album, 1980 for heaven's sake.

That song made me put in this next CD, their second album, 1981:

Less popular than the first album, for sure, but Bad Boys Get Spanked is a song everyone should know by heart. Just plain and simply outstanding.

Don't even try to leave a comment that says "Pretenders Blow" or anything like that because that would be offensive and insensitive and, as it turns out, total bullshit.

Ho. Ly. Shit.

I don't think I have any words to add to this. Kim, I'm with ya.
From the ubiquitous "The more things change..." file

Treatment with leeches may reduce pain and stiffness in patients with arthritis of the knee, German scientists report.

Modern-day medicinal use of leeches is limited to the treatment of blood clotting problems after surgery. Dr. Gustav J. Dobos, from Kliniken Essen-Mitte, and colleagues maintain that leech saliva contains anti-inflammatory substances and other chemicals, which could relieve symptoms of arthritis.

The Gay Bishop Brewha

I've been holding off from posting anything about the openly gay priest who has just been consecrated as a bishop in the Episcopal Church. Part of is was that everybody else and their brother had an opinion on it. Part of it was that I was raised Catholic, and I really don't give a hoot about the Episcopal Church, or who they consecrate. And part of it was that it just felt wrong, somehow. But I couldn't put my finger on why it felt wrong. So I've been mulling it over, doing some thinking, and on my way to work this morning, it hit me.

The problem is the very fact that this priest has allowed his sexuality to come to the forefront of who he is.

Now for most parishioners, we see the priest once a week, maybe twice a week if we're involved with the church. I never knew the sexuality of my priests, because their sexuality was not part of the job description. How did Robinson's sexuality ever come to the front? Did he openly announce it? "I'm gay, and you have to accept me!" That's Pride, a cardinal sin. Or is he promiscuous? Lust is a cardinal sin, and having pre-marital sex is definitely not in the church's preaching. His sexuality doesn't have anything to do with the way he performs his job, so how did it get pushed to the front? Well, I found this little tidbit from the article.

Though there have been gay bishops in the past, all were closeted when they were elevated to their posts. Robinson has been open about his 14-year relationship with his partner throughout the process in which he won election to the new post.

Alert! Alert! Danger, Will Robinson! Stay with me while I make a trip into Morality Land! For the sake of this discussion, when I refer to "Christians", I am most emphatically NOTreferring to asshats or idiots like Fred Phelps, Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, or any other so-far-right-that-they're-medieval bible thumper, OK?

Pre-marital sex is a sin, according to just about every Christian church I can think of. No matter how long you're together, you're not supposed to have sex until you're married, right? Actually, if you want to get all biblical, homosexual acts are a sin, but most Christians are taught to "hate the sin, love the sinner". However, the Episcopal Church is asking it's congregations to now accept a person as Bishop who is committing not one, but two sins very openly in his daily life.

Priests are supposed to be role models. They are supposed to live their life as sin-free as possible, as an example to emulate. Bishops are even higher on the food chain, as it were. By elevating this man to the position of Bishop, you have just told your congregation "It's OK to sin! Check it out!" And that's not going to go over well with many people.

Had Robinson kept his sexuality and his relationship to himself, I doubt there would have been an issue. But once the cat was out of the bag, it became a big problem. You cannot tell people not to sin, but then elevate a person who openly sins on a constant basis to a high position in the church. In my opinion, the Episcopal Church messed up. Robinson chose to become a priest, and he chose to have his relationship even though it was at odds with what the church teaches. That's a problem right there. But exacerbating the problem by elevating him to Bishop is practically BEGGING for the church to split.

Robinson could have remained a priest, or a pastor, or any number of roles, and the church would have been fine. But this whole episode stinks to high heaven. I think that politics are heavily involved, and the last time politics and the church were intertwined, we got the Spanish Inquisition. (OK, that's an exaggeration, I admit, but you get the point.) More importantly, I think that the political forces in the church are forcing an agenda on other members, and I don't like it. I didn't like it when it happened in the Catholic church (which is why I'm not a practicing member), and I don't like it when I see it in other churches. It's not just one thing, it's the whole episode that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

But, in the end, it's the Episcopalian's burder to bear, not mine, and whether or not their church splits in half over this will be educational to watch.

Four Right Wing Wackos has a new blogger of record, most notably for the purpose of advancing the likelihood of folks at The Watchers Council actually reading and appreciating this site.

I have been the Blogger of Record all along. As most of you know, I post bites. This may be my longest post in ninety days. Bites sucks for Watchers Council and other magnet forae.

Ergo: Raging Dave, aka Rantus Prolificus, is now the Blogger of Record at 4RWWs.

That's kind of fly.

Maybe he can get that putz Lee over at Right-Thinking to blogroll us fer Chrissakes. Ditto those boobs over at the Rottweiler.

Buh!

Give 'em hell, Dave.

"Cheif [sic] Wiggles looks and sounds drunk. That or really really tired. Considering he has all that time to type shit into an internet portal I'd say he's tired. Really really *hic* tired."

"I hope wiggles isn't fondling those poor kids... I did not accuse wiggles to begin with, but it is well known that pedophiles seek the trust and company of children. Add to that the fact many are in positions of trust in the community and the thought just crossed my mind."

Regarding the memo

Pat Gang over at Strategy Page was an interesting insight into the Rumsfled Memo that had so many DC press people wetting their pants.

Rumsfeld asked EXACTLY the right questions of his most trusted subordinates.
.
.
.
“What have we learned?” “Are there better ways of doing what needs to be done?” “Did we prepare adequately for foreseen and unforeseen difficulties?” “What could we have done on the front end to reduce our problems on the back end?” “Do we have the right people assigned to the right jobs?”

Boys and girls, these questions are asked EVERY SINGLE DAY by successful businesses around the country. Only rarely are such questions ever asked in the stuffy halls of government. Perhaps their very novelty made these questions newsworthy. It’s also no wonder, in that event, that nobody in the Washington press corps had a clue as to what was really going on.

Better Late than Never

Some good news, and some bad. Let's start with the bad, shall we?

First off, the demands placed on our troops are raising fears of a "Hollow Force" in the future.

Now personally, I think we should have been expanding our forces from day one. The Army's fun meter is pegged, boys and girls. I also think we should pull our troops out of Europe for good, as they are no longer needed to defend against the U.S.S.R. But I happen to think that a major overhaul of our troops is also in order. The Clinton Era did more damage to the military than most people think. Trust me, I was there. As good as our troops are today, they could be better. They CAN be better. Rumsfeld is hesitant to expand the Army any more, prefering to use money to advance our technological advantage. I say that all the new tech is great, but you need dedicated, intelligent soldiers to use that tech. One without the other can't work.

Most people already know about the Chinook helicopter that was shot down. For those who don't know, the Chinook is a twin engine, twin rotor helicopter used to carry heavy loads. It's big, slow, and ugly, but when you gotta positivly, absolutely have it moved overnight, the Chinook is who you call. Anyways, the headline to this story is "Bush: US mourns every loss"

Does that even need to be said? There is a small segment of the population that cheers when a US soldier dies, but the majority of Americans feel each loss. I know that I check the names of the dead, praying and hoping that I don't recognise any of my old platoon mates in the list. What I and my friends hope for is that the Donks aren't allowed to yank us out if Iraq prematurely, thus ruining all our work and rendering each life lost a vain effort.

There is a difference between casually tossing American lives aside, and devoting them to a purpose. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY likes the fact that American lives are being lost. However, those soldiers signed on the dotted line, knowing that they might have to make the ultimate sacrifice. I myself signed that line, and took that oath, years ago. And my father, who had served for twenty two years, who also knew the risks, was the man who swore me in to active duty.

So the question often comes up: Why are these men dying? Why did they have to go over there? I can give you many reasons, but some of the most compelling are these.

---"We taste something. We can't recognize that taste," said Talib, an Iraqi who works for the state tobacco company. "We [are] happy ... because when we switch on the television you never see Saddam Hussein. That's a big happy for the Iraqi people." ---

---Since the fall of Saddam, Baath Party approval is no longer required for marriage. Anham's schoolteacher salary was $3 a month under the dictator. It is $120 a month under coalition forces. Not enough for a limo, but it does get her a taxi.---

---She is scared of kidnapping and gunfire beyond the classroom walls. But not afraid of American forces, or the helicopters they fly overhead. "I wave to helicopters," she said in English.
---

You want to know how our troops feel? Go listen to them.

We have a chance to give freedom to millions of people who have never experienced it. We have a chance to tumble the thugs, dictators and theocracies surrounding Iraq without firing a shot. We have a chance to make this world a better place. Those troops know it. And it shows. Every loss hurts, and should not be forgotten. But it is a sacrifice that needs to be made.
Germany is sending troops to Iraq.

Remembrance

I was looking at RNS when I saw this post by Puggs. It perked my interest for several reasons. One, my grandfather was in the Navy during World War Two. I never heard much about it except that my grandfather's ears, back, and knees were never the same. The guns on the ships in those days had a plate underneath the actual gun. After the gun had fired, the plate was swung out, allowing the spent powderbags (and anything not fired) to drop from the breech. The plate was then pushed back in, and the gun reloaded. This was the Forties, and ships were being built as fast as possible, which meant that a sailor had to stand there and push that plate in and out. My grandfather was only 5'1", almost too short for the Navy, but he wanted to join. And so he did, and was given the job of pushing this plate in and out every time the gun fired. It was one of the few jobs that he could do. And he did it, for years. My father was born in 1940, and on Dec. 7th, 1941, America was forced into the war.

People who grew up during the Reagan years don't quite have a grasp of what our Navy did during WWII. We were outgunned, outmanned, and on the run from 1941-1943. We didn't have a truly major victory until the Battle of Midway in June of 1942, and even then it was by a whisker. In any case, the USA didn't have the edge the way we do today. In fact, until late 1943, the war in the Pacific could have gone either way. One of the reasons it turned OUR way was due to ships and men like the USS Johnston.

The day JOHNSTON was commissioned, CDR Evans made a speech to the crew, "This is going to be a fighting ship. I intend to go in harm's way, and anyone who doesn't want to go along had better get off right now."

I can't imagine many modern commanders saying that today. I could be wrong, since I was a groundpounder, but I really wonder.

On the morning of October 25, 1944, without warning, JOHNSTON and Taffy III were set upon by the Imperial Japanese Navy Centre Force. During the previous night, this powerful enemy force of 4 battleships, six heavy cruisers, two light cruisers, and two squadrons of destroyers had slipped through San Bernardino Strait undetected.

Six escort carriers, three destroyers and four destroyer escorts, against the might and fury of a full Japanese battle group. I can't imagine it, I really can't. It would be like me in a Jeep Wrangler with my .22 rifle against a Sherman tank. I don't want to know what was going through the minds of those sailors.

JOHNSTON outfought the entire Japanese destroyer squadron, concentrating on the lead ship until the enemy quit cold, then concentrated on the second destroyer until the remaining enemy units broke off to get out of effective gun range before launching torpedoes, all of which went wild. JOHNSTON took a hit which knocked out one forward gun, damaged another, and her bridge was rendered untenable by fires and explosions resulting from a hit in her 40mm ready ammunition locker. Commander Evans shifted his command to JOHNSTON's fantail, yelling orders through an open hatch to men turning her rudder by hand. Still the destroyer battled desperately to keep the Japanese destroyers and cruisers from reaching the five surviving American carriers. "We were now in a position where all the gallantry and guts in the world couldn't save us, but we figured that help for the carriers must be on the way, and every minute's delay might count...."

"By 0930 we were going dead in the water; even the Japanese couldn't miss us. They made a sort of running semi-circle around our ship, shooting at us like a bunch of Indians attacking a prairie schooner. Our lone engine and fire room was knocked out; we lost all power, and even the indomitable skipper knew we were finished. At 0945 he gave the saddest order a captain can give: 'Abandon Ship.'..."

Ever want to box with a grizzly bear? How about fighting it with one hand tied behind your back and your left leg in a splint, how about that? And if you lose, the bear eats you.

At 1010 JOHNSTON rolled over and began to sink. A Japanese destroyer came up to 1,000 yards and pumped a final shot into her to make sure she went down. A survivor saw the Japanese captain salute her as she went down. That was the end of JOHNSTON. From her compliment of 327, only 141 were saved. Of 186 lost, about 50 were killed by enemy action, 45 died on rafts from battle injuries; and 92, including Commander Evans, were alive in the water after JOHNSTON sank, but were never heard from again.

So that ship lost more men in one day that all the US forces lost during major combat operations in Iraq. But it went down swinging, and it stopped the Japanese force cold. The sheer determination of that crew leaves me breathless. The courage they showed in the face of certain doom makes me want to cry. And I wonder if people actually know how close it was. I wonder of people today understand just what it took to win that war, the sacrifice, blood, and sweat that was needed to win. I hear all the cries of "quagmire" and "another Viet Nam" today, and I have to wonder if these people know anything at all....

If for any reason at all, we should never forget the sacrifice and bravery of those sailors on the USS Johnston, and the sailors on ships all over the world during World War Two. Reading accounts like this makes me wish that my grandfather was still alive, so that I could thank him, and ask him to tell me his stories. These stories need to be remembered and retold, so that we, as Americans, can understand the sacrifice made by our parents, and grandparents, and great-grandparents. We need to remember what happened so that we can understand what's happening today. And we need to honor those soldiers and sailors and Marines, for ensuring that we can live happy, prosperous, and free.
Pardon me while I say "I TOLD YOU SO!

Found this little piece at AlphaPatriot. It seems that a group of California politicos are trying to say "But... but... we were TRYING to get all those dead trees removed!"

Two words for ya. 1) Bull. 2) Shit.

Try this little experiment, if you will. Go to Google. Type in "Beetle Killed Tree Lawsuit". And then start reading. Let me give you the headlines from the first page alone.

Lawsuits, lawsuits, and more lawsuits, all preventing the logging of beetle killed trees. Tons of lawsuits, stifling the harvest of dead lumber, preventing the Forest Service from getting these trees out of the forest before the infestation spreads. Go read my essay at the top of the page for even more links. Hell, go check out this site to see even MORE headlines about the Eco-freak's actions. I can't begin to tell you just how wrong these eco-people are. They sit in their wooden homes, reading their pamphlets and papers, making signs on their cardboard, and never once think about where all that wood comes from. They get their degrees in the liberal arts and think they know everything about forestry, a subject they don't have a clue about. They sit in the city and smugly file lawsuit after lawsuit preventing logging of beetle killed trees, but can't understand why acres of trees go off like firecrackers when a spark is applied. They know NOTHING about fuel ladders or preventing insect infestation, and yet the file even MORE lawsuits that prevent the foresters from doing their jobs. These fires are the culmination of decades of the eco-freaks having it their way.

Take it from someone who grew up in the forest. The eco-freaks don't have a clue about the forest. Not one clue. And you are seeing the result of their actions, and their lawsuits, and their idiotic regulations. I feel for the people in SoCal, I really do. I would NEVER want to lose my home, my memories, and all the things I've worked so hard to obtain. My drumset. My saxophone. My pictures. All my collectables. If my house went up, I'd grab my girlfriend, the pets, and the guns, in that order. Actually, the girlfriend would be grabbing the pets, and I'd be grabbing the guns at the same time. But the rest of it would probably burn, and I would be devastated. But at the same time, I can't help but think that if the people of SoCal hadn't bought into the eco-freaks bullshit, they wouldn't be facing the firestorm. If they hadn't allowed the eco-freaks to hijack ecological policy in California, these fires wouldn't have been nearly as bad as they are.

I wonder if the eco-freaks will be allowed to continue hijacking policy. And I wonder if anyone will learn from this tragedy, or if they will continue on with even mordevastatingng results. The Donks have already started to point fingers at President Bush. "You didn't give us enough money to cut trees!" they cry. I listen to Barbara Boxer (C-Cal) screech and hollar on national TV, and I just shake my head. If they would just let the lumber companies in there, they wouldn't NEED money, they would get PAID! If they would just listen to the people who actually know about forests and wildlands, they wouldn't NEED money, they could get PAID, and the fires would not be raging out of control. It's up to the people of California to deal with the politicians and eco-freaks who put them into this position.

Will they listen? Or will they just continue to plug their ears and hope for the best? I don't know. But I DO know that the politicians who allowed the forests to fall into such a bad condition should be held accountable, and not allowed to point fingers at someone else. They can blame Bush all they want, but it was their caving in to the various eco-groups that allowed the forests to turn into a tinderbox, just waiting for a spark.

UPDATE: DANEgerus has a link on his blog that perfectly describes how the eco-freak policies helped turn SoCal into the firestorm of today.

UPDATE PART TWO: Found via Drumwaster, a link to yet someone else who has seen eco-freaks in action. And I love the very first line:

As a friend of mine said, "If my house had burned down in the California fires I think I'd get a flame thrower and go looking for an environmentalist's house to return the favor."
Yet Another R.O.C.B. Moment

Anyone who grew up with a rudimentary education knows that the US Supreme Court makes decisions on law based on the US Constitution. After all, many times they decided on whether or not a law is CONSTITUTIONAL, right?

THEN WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS????

Justice Sandra Day O'Connor predicts that the U.S. Supreme Court will increasingly base its decisions on international law rather than the U.S. Constitution, according to an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

By doing so, the court will make a good impression among people from other countries, she said.
"The impressions we create in this world are important and they can leave their mark," Justice O'Connor said.
On the whole, the U.S. judicial system leaves a favorable impression around the world, she said "but when it comes to the impression created by the treatment of foreign and international law and the United States court, the jury is still out."

Maybe someone should send a memo to Sandra Day "Tranzi Bitch" O'Connor that if she doesn't feel that the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION is good enough to base UNITED STATES LAW on, she should just GET THE HELL OUT!

"I suspect," Justice O'Connor said, "that over time we will rely increasingly or take notice, at least increasingly on international and foreign courts in examining domestic issues."

And I suspect that if we look at other international laws right now, we see laws that would make the Founding Fathers sit strait up in their graves and begin bitch-slapping any tranzi puke stupid enough to suggest implementing them in the USA. If little miss "Tranzi Bitch" O'Connor wants to give up this countries national sovereignty, she's going to have a hard fight, and dammit, we WILL win! Maybe "Tranzi Bitch" O'Connor should also realize that Supreme Court Justices CAN BE IMPEACHED! Maybe "Tranzi Bitch" O'Connor should re-read the Constitution again, the very same Constitution that she TOOK AN OATH TO UPHOLD!

Article VI of the Constitution plainly provides that nothing except the Constitution itself, laws enacted by Congress in accordance with the Constitution and treaties theretofore existing or which should thereafter be made in accordance with the Constitution, should be the "law of the land" "supreme" over the constitution and laws of the several states.

I don't see anything there that mentions whether or not we should check with the socialist EU goons to make sure we don't hurt their feelings, do you?

And last but not least, "Tranzi Bitch" O'Connor should understand that if she wants to give away the sovereignty of this nation, there are millions of us who have the will and means to ensure that she fails in her "progressive" Tranzi bitch dreams.

Thanks to Kim du Toit for the links.
Range Report

I'm sold. Total and completely. The M1903A3 performed as it should, and it's a damn cannon. It kicks pretty damn hard, although not as hard as a 12 gauge shotgun. Analog Kid, myself, and my friend Ari all took turns lighting it off. To quote Ari: *BOOM* "Ouch! Holy shit! That hurt! I gotta do that again!"

I'm still feeling my shoulder this morning, but that gun is as accurate as the shooter can be. How many other machines made in 1942 still work as well as when they were made? The one problem is that the spring is worn out on the magazine, so it won't feed rounds properly, in essence making it a single shot gun for the time being. But that's OK, you don't want to kick off too many rounds in a row from it anyways. Not unless you enjoy the feeling of your shoulder being several inches behind where it SHOULD be.

We also took the girlfriend's son with us, and he went through about 300 rounds of .22 ammo with my birthday gun. This was his first time doing any kind of real shooting, and he enjoyed it quite a bit. I think I've got him hooked. The next gun for me to try is my .308 Winchester. Slowly but surely, I'm getting there. And the shotgun is getting it's tryout next Saturday, when AK and friends get together for a little high-velocity pumpkin carving. Heheheheheheheh. AK should have a digital camera with him, so he'll have pictures.

This is gonna be fun!

The whole schmegeggie regarding the Springfield M1903A3.
**sigh**

Well, it looks like the wildly partisan pukes in Congress have once again held up a judicial nominee.

First Estrada dropped out, and who can blame him? He was literally HAMMERED from day one, and his life was suffering because of it. The Democrats used every vile, horrible tactic they had in order to stop Estrada's nomination. Now they'll do the same to Brown, Owens, and as indicated in the article above, Pickering.

What stuns me is that the man has the support of damn near everyone in his home state, including the NAACP, and yet the Donks call him "Extreme right wing" (meaning he actually follows the constitution), "divisive", and I've even heard "racist". It's bullshit. Flat out bullshit, and I hope to GOD that Bush weilds these blockades like a hammer when the election day comes.

In local news, Seattle is having record cold temps. But remember, global warming is going to kill us all, right? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I'm spending today with the girlfriend, and tomorrow I'm heading to the range with the g/f's son, and Analog Kid from Random Nuclear Strikes. It'll be a good day. Hopefully I'll have some targets from the 30-06. I haven't fired it yet, so this will be the sighting in session.

For those who want to know, it's a M1903A3, made in 1942. Oh yeah, baby!
Ever heard of Tastykakes?
City Journal reports that Culture War is in full swing and despite getting a late start in media, our side is catching on and catching up.

The Left’s near monopoly over the institutions of opinion and information—which long allowed liberal opinion makers to sweep aside ideas and beliefs they disagreed with, as if they were beneath argument—is skidding to a startlingly swift halt. The transformation has gone far beyond the rise of conservative talk radio, that, ever since Rush Limbaugh’s debut 15 years ago, has chipped away at the power of the New York Times, the networks, and the rest of the elite media to set the terms of the nation’s political and cultural debate. Almost overnight, three huge changes in communications have injected conservative ideas right into the heart of that debate. Though commentators have noted each of these changes separately, they haven’t sufficiently grasped how, taken together, they add up to a revolution: no longer can the Left keep conservative views out of the mainstream or dismiss them with bromide instead of argument. Everything has changed.
City Journal Autumn 2003 | We’re Not Losing the Culture Wars Anymore by Brian C. Anderson
I was watching C-SPAN Sunday morning and heard a caller mention how ignorant Americans are and how she now is armed with facts because she gets satellite news from abroad and hasn't that made her oppose Bush even more.... I think maybe this is an example of what we morons are missing. It's news from Australia regarding how Cheney's cronies have hijacked the Presidency and Bush doesn't even know what is going on and remember that convoy into Syria from Iraq that was bombed by US forces? - that was Cheney telling Bush not to get too cozy with the next object of desire for Halliburton...

You know the routine.

Drawing a dying breath

Looks like the "anti-war" movement is on its last legs.
Emerging from the Metro station onto the National Mall Saturday morning, I saw a beautiful movement to right a vast wrong. Protesters of every age, race, and nationality stood together as one. Their songs were full of joy and their steps punctuated with righteous indignation. They cheerfully exhorted passersby, who joined the cause, impassioned by the spectacle before them. In that moment it seemed a great evil could be vanquished, and truth prevail.

The seeds of Utopia took root. The sun shone down. Oh yeah, and a bunch of dirty hippies and black-masked anarchists were holding their own pow-wow across the way.

In its early stages, the chief symptom of the disease is a blockage of the entrepreneurial spirit, generally brought on by excessive doses of centralized planning and anti-capitalist trade unionism. By the end of the line, with the life squeezed out of the business sector by bloated government bureaucracies, high taxation and near-zero incentives for performance, the politicians try to pump some life back into the system through the magic of public subsidies for ever-expanding make-work projects.

You all know about the rocket attack in Baghdad, right? Paul Wolfowitz? Hotel getting blown up? Guess where the weapons came from? C'mon, take a guess. Take two! Maybe even three! Anybody?

Oh fine, I tell you.

More Liberal lies and smears

Slate has their "Bushisms" where they can laugh and yuk it up about what a maroon the President is. Today's Bushism is this:

"[A]s you know, these are open forums, you're able to come and listen to what I have to say."—Washington, D.C., Oct. 28, 2003

Most people would shake their head and move on. Not Eugene Volokh! No, Mr. Volokh actually finds the speech that it came from! There, we find out that Bush is discussing fundraising events with a couple of reporters, and his remarks suddenly make sense:

{begin transcript}
THE PRESIDENT: . . . Ed, and then Bob, and then I'm going to go eat lunch.

Q: Are we invited? (Laughter.)

THE PRESIDENT: It depends on your question.

Q: Fair enough. Mr. President, you talked about politics. For weeks, if not months now, when questions have been posed to members of your team, those questions have been dismissed as politics, and a time will come later to address those questions. You, indeed, have said that, yourself. How can the public differentiate between reality and politics, when you and your campaign have raised over $80 million and you're saying that the season has not started?

THE PRESIDENT: You're not invited to lunch. (Laughter.)

Look, we are -- we're arming, raising money to wage a campaign. And there will be an appropriate time for me to engage politically; that is, in the public forum. Right now, I'm -- yes, no question, I'm going out to our friends and supporters and saying, would you mind contributing to the campaign for the year '04? To me, that's -- and that's a part of politics, no question about it. And as you know, these are open forums, you're able to come and listen to what I have to say.

To me, there's a difference between that and actually engaging potential opponents in a public discourse in a debate. And there will be ample time for that. There will be ample time to differentiate views and to defend records in the face of political criticism. And I know that the campaign has started for some, in terms of the public debate from a political perspective. It just hadn't for me yet.
{end transcript}

Now, this isn't a little slip of the tounge, this is a rag deliberately taking the president's remarks out of context, and spinning them to make the president look as bad as possible. Volokh nails it. And in my opinion, the smear campain is just starting up. Look for more lies, slander, and mud-slinging than you can ever imaging coming from the Left. Because the Left is ideologicly bankrupt, with nary any kind of plan, coherent thought, or idea for progress to be found in the whole damn Donk party. So, they're going to attempt to kill Bush with their lies and outright distortions.

Oh, THAT liberal media.
This is really kinda cool: The Gender Genie.
Time to find that REMF and air-drop him into Iraq

Preferably without a parachute.

For those who don't know, REMF is a derogatory term, meaning Rear Echelon Mother F***er. It's used to describe an idiot who sits in the rear with the gear, but thinks he can make decisions for those who are fighting up front. And I guaran-god-damned-tee that's what's going on here.

The Army has filed a criminal assault charge against an American officer who coerced an Iraqi into providing information that foiled a planned attack on U.S. soldiers.

Lt. Col. Allen B. West says he did not physically abuse the detainee, but used psychological pressure by twice firing his service weapon away from the Iraqi. After the shots were fired, the detainee, an Iraqi police officer, gave up the information on a planned attack around the northern Iraqi town of Saba al Boor.
(.......)
An Army official at the Pentagon confirmed to The Washington Times yesterday that Col. West has been charged with one count of aggravated assault. A military source said an Article 32 hearing has been scheduled in Iraq that could lead to the Army court-martialing Col. West and sending him to prison for a maximum term of eight years.

This is insane. The Lt. Col. in all seriousness saved the lives of his men by getting this information. The same limp-dicked pisswads who whine about how many lives are being lost (even though these same limp-dicked pisswads have never served in the military, much less know anything about what you must do to stay alive) are now the people whining and sniveling about methods used in order to save American soldiers.

An informant reported that there was an assassination plot against Col. West, an artillery officer working with the local governing council in Saba al Boor. On Aug. 16, guerrillas attacked members of the colonel's unit who were on their way to Saba al Boor.
An informant told the soldiers that one person involved in the attack was a town policeman. Col. West sent two sergeants to detain the policeman, who was placed in a detention center near the Taji air base. The interrogators had no luck at first, so Col. West decided to take over the questioning.

So his unit had already suffered an attack, and he knew that one person involved was in a position of authority in the town? Do I really have to make clear why THIS IS A BAD THING?!?!?!?! Tell you what, let's get another opinion on this, shall we? Mr. du Toit, if you would?

This Iraqi Bastard was a policeman -- someone we put into a position of authority and trusted to uphold the law, and who repaid our trust by supporting terrorist scum. Fuck him, fuck his family, and fuck his entire village. Had this been me, the Iraqi Bastard would have a Pavlovian aversion to car batteries and jumper cables for the rest of his fucking life. Yes, that's how important it would be to me to keep my soldiers safe and alive.

Kim must be in a good mood. Because let me tell you what should happen to that fucker. Kill him slowly. Then hunt down his family and kill them. Burn his house to the ground, salt the earth, and spread pig guts over the smoking remains. And then hang this terrorist supporting filth's twisted, tortured body over the remains, and let the birds and dogs eat what's left of his worthless corpse. Once that is completed, climb to the top of an M1 Abrahms tank and take a good long healthy piss on anything that's left.

As for the Col., he saved the lives of his troops and outed a terrorist supporting policeman. That deserves a fucking medal, not a Chapter hearing! Whoever made that discision should be dumped into the Col.'s place, handed a rifle, and told "Here you go, you gutless piece of shit, walk your happy ass into the war zone and see what happens". The people who deride this officer have never been in his shoes, and wouldn't know what to do if they WERE in his shoes. You cannot play paddy-cake with terrorists, you idiotic twits! I'm so pissed off I'm shaking right now. This officer should be re-instated as soon as possible, preferably YESTERDAY!

Let me see if I can impress on you the importance of this, from a grunt's perspective. A soldier who's putting his life on the line has to take several things for granted. First and foremost is that his leaders are looking out for him. A soldier will do just about anything as long as he knows that he's not being put into harms way for no good reason. A soldier will also work his butt off for leadership that he feels is deserving of respect. When an officer goes through such lengths in order to prevent an attack on his troops, he gains the respect of those troops. I'll wager that his unit would have marched into hell for Lt. Col. West after what he did. When you punish West for his actions, actions which prevented his troops from DYING, what are you saying to those troops? Let me give you a hint:

"The US values the life of a terrorist supporting traitor more than the lives of American Soldiers."

You're not just saying that to the troops, you're practically shouting it in their faces! How many of those troops do you think will re-up now? Knowing that the USA would rather let a terrorist supporting traitor be happy and comfortable than American troops be alive? And knowing that it's some snot-nosed, limp-dicked, un-tested REAR ECHELON MOTHER FUCKER who's pressing charges makes me pissed off even more. Some slimey little puke who isn't fit to spit-shine Col. West's boots. Some maggot who's never been fired at. Worthless, horrible, miserable, ill-gotten vermin who will hurt West's unit in more ways than he can imagine. THIS is the legacy that Clinton left the military, folks. Horrid REMF bastards who care more about terrorists than Americans.

Put West back in command, and kick this REMF out.
Looks to me like WesMania was more shortlived then an unogled set of C cups in the Clinton Oval Office, but there is something new at Wesley Watch.
Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?

Technological breakthroughs get big press because they can give us new tools and toys. We feel technology's impact directly: wheels and gears, zippers and microchips--the list is endless. But where would technology be without scientific discovery?

Nowhere, I say. Technology marches on a highway laid down by those absent-minded geeks who merely figure out what's true. So what are the ten greatest scientific discoveries of all time?

Take a moment, if you please

Thanks.
France has Urban Wastelands?

There was a verdict last week.

At the vast housing project where the girls lived and where the rapes occurred, the grounds are clean, even landscaped. The population is multiracial and multiethnic, blending both French-born citizens and immigrants from places like North and sub-Saharan Africa, Turkey and the Caribbean. Nearby are a butcher selling halal meat, an oriental pastry shop and coffeehouse, a laundromat, a health club and a supermarket — as well as drug dealers openly selling hashish.

Prejudice against the girls lingers. "What were the girls doing in the afternoons down in the basements?" asked a woman who lives on the first floor of the building. "Why did their parents let them go there? They know what happens if they follow the boys. They know what happens if they go to the basement."

The neighborhood butcher, from Algeria, talked about the suburb as a world apart. "If a girl goes out, she's going to get into trouble, especially with Arabs and blacks, because they are not used to seeing girls outside," he said. "The boys have needs. Where I come from, it's not normal that a girl goes out at night. If I tell my sister not to go out, she obeys me. This world is not like France."

"This world is not like France."

Errrr, yeah.

This is an interesting read: Right Wing News (Conservative News and Views)
BRAIN DEAD

Proof that stupid people are everywhere. Found over at AlphaPatriot. As usual, all emphasis is mine.

THE International Committee of the Red Cross is to begin pulling foreign staff out of Baghdad after a car bomb blew up at its office in the Iraqi capital last night, a senior official said.

In an interview on the internet website of Germany's ARD public television, Pierre Gassmann said the ICRC would continue to refuse military protection.

"We will begin tomorrow to fly out expatriate staff and then we'll see how we can continue our work with our Iraqi staff," he said.

Gassmann, head of the ICRC delegation in Baghdad, said the organisation had about 35 foreign staff in Iraq and 800 Iraqis.

"If we decide to ask for military protection, we will be exactly where the enemy is seen - at the side of the coalition troops," he said.

I want to puke. I don't know whether to laugh at this idiot or rip off his arm and beat him to death with it for the good of humanity. First of all, it's clear that he considers the United States as the enemy. Great. Time for me to find a different charity to send my money to, because any group who employs an asshat like this isn't getting a dime from me. But DAMMIT, why can't these slack-jawed drooling halfwitted morons LEARN FROM WHAT HAPPENS AROUND THEM????

Didn't the bombing at the UN building teach these cretins ANYTHING? TERRORISTS DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE, BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT THEM! You can dance naked around the US Embassy flinging handfulls of your own feces at the guards, and the terrorists will STILL blow your mindless ass to kingdom come because you are still an INFIDEL!

So let me tell Mr. Gassmann what's going to happen. By the way, what the hell can you expect from a man named Pierre Gassmann, anyways? It's like he combines the worst of the French and Germans all into one package! Anyways, as I was saying, let me tell Gassbagg what's going to happen next. Gassbagg will draw back all his own people, leaving the Iraqis to fend for themselves. But Gassbagg will still not allow the Iraqis working at the Red Cross to have military protection. Thus the Iraqis working for the Red Cross will get blown up yet again. Because people like Gassbagg who suffer from rectal-cranial impaction refuse to learn. They remain willfully ignorant of reality. Unless you are either A) a Ba'athist, or B) a J.E.R.M., you are a target to both groups. In a perfect world, Gassbagg and the vermin like him would be out front of the building, saying "But, but, but..... We're not American!" while the splodydopes turn him into a pink-tinged mist that smells of gunpowder. However, we're not in a perfect world, so worthless walking piles of shit like Gassbagg get to run away and let other people face the consequences of their actions.

If I were an Iraqi, I'd be dropping the Red Cross like a bad habit. Hell, I think I'm going to do that now anyways. My money is better spent on a group who can actually use their brains.
I know you dial up people are cursing the proliferation of images here but I just had to post his one.

I guess my question is this:

If you saw what's depicted above, would you be:

a) whipping out your camera for a couple grab shots, or

b) hightailing your ass in the other direction with your heart trying to thump its way through your ribs and a look on your face like Satan is two steps behind you sporting a red hot curling iron destined for one of your more sensitive orifiae?

American Digest features quick little piece on how Dem Dopey Dem Presidential candidates are merging into one Bush Hating Mesomorph by induling their overarching hatred of George W. Bush.
What needs to be asked is exactly what Democrats are fighting over. Unless the current trends in Iraq and the Economy suffer catastrophic reversals, the Presidency in 2004 will remain with the person who currently holds the job. The only way Iraq and the Economy can be turned around at this point would be if the United States were to suffer a second terrorist attack at or beyond the level sustained on September 11. In that case, the Presidency becomes a full-court war Presidency and remains beyond the reach of the Democratic Party for the rest of the decade.

The prediction here is that they will melt away into hideous skeletons much like that Gestapo guy in the Indiana Jones movie.

BINGO!

Warning: The following may disturb you, and even make you wonder what the hell I'm drinking.

"I hate conservatives, but I really fucking hate liberals" Matt Stone, co-creater, South Park

I think that sums it up rather nicely. I'd like to say that I'm conservative, and I'll admit that I make some of my conservative pals go "Dave, what the hell are you thinking?" because I'm farther to the right than they are. But I'll be damned if I want to get lumped in with Pat Robertson or Jerry Falwell. Hell, I'll be damned if I want to get lumped in with my dad. We've had several debates over drug use, and he always responds with "When do you draw the line? Why not just give up (on the drug war)?" My response is "Dad, America already has."

My conservatism has to do more with personal responsibility than what other people think is right. I'm far from anti-gay. Hell, my favorite aunt is gay, my girlfriend is bi, and my favorite drinking buddy is a guy who gets whipped and fucked by another guy on a monthly basis. I don't give a shit about your sexuality as long as it doesn't effect me, OK? You like whips, chains, BDSM, go for it. AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT EFFECT ME. Same with your drug use. I hate drugs. I can't stand to be around someone who's high, stoned, tweaking, whatever. But as long as your drug use doesn't effect me, go for it. I'll be at your funeral when you're 35 and the dope has eaten away what's left of your liver, and I'll be sad, but IT'S YOUR CHOICE! You want to jab a needle into your arm, so be it. What pisses me off isn't the fact that you're getting high, it's the fact that once you've done more drugs than a Thai hooker, you take your broken down, worthless ass to the hospital, where my tax dollars pay for you to get healthy, to the tune of millions of dollars. THAT bugs me. You've just imposed on me, either directly or indirectly, due to YOUR LIFE'S CHOICES.

And THAT is what pisses me off. You should be free to stick a syringe into your vein, but it should not me MY responsibility to pull that needle out. "Oh, I was high and I got knocked up, and now I'm popping out a kid and going on welfare." SCREW YOU! YOU made the choice to get high. YOU made the choice to screw some loser you didn't know. And you YOU should bear the cost. NOT me, my girlfriend, my pals, my co-workers, NOBODY BUT YOU! Is that harsh? God, I hope so. This country could use a bit of harshness. Harshing the Moonbat's mellow is what I'm all about, Baby. You tell me what's more effective: Telling your kids "Oh, don't use drugs, drugs are bad", or explaining to your kids "The reason that man is lying in the gutter covered in his own shit and puke is because he wanted to get high on heroin." We have spent so much time and money protecting people from the consequences of their own actions that we've raised a generation who CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

Do I sound like Jack? Do I? Good. Because if you got past that crappy liberal feel-good BULLSHIT in "A Few Good Men" you'd see that Jack was right. We DO need men on that wall. We DO need harsh methods to weed the good from the bad. If you had to be protected from a mugger by someone else, do you want some liberal dipshit who's going to say "Oh, wait, we need to understand where the mugger is coming from, we need to feel his pain" or do you want someone like ME who's going to pull out his pistol and say "Fuck you asshole, you picked the wrong person to fuck with tonight"???? IF YOUR LIFE IS ON THE LINE, who would you want next to you? A liberal or a conservative? I'll give you 10-1 odds on who's better armed.

But on the other hand, I have no problem if YOU want to help someone else out. I give to the Red Cross. I give to United Way from every one of my paychecks. I give to the Salvation Army. But I CHOSE TO DO THAT. NOT you, NOT the government, NOT Mr. Smith down the street. ME. And I do it because I WANT to! I've taken bums to lunch, because they said they were hungry. I've put people up in my house for months on end until they got a job and could support themselves. I've helped people get those jobs. Not because some nanny-state fuckwit said I should, not because some liberal twit came up with a plan, but because it was the right thing for me to do. THAT is conservatism to me.

The bottom line is this: There is no place for me in the modern definition of conservatism. But because I'm damn near antithetical to the modern definition of Liberalism, guess where I get lumped in? We need to make another discription, because the only one I go for is "RIGHT".

By the way: The article I linked to is worth reading for more than just the quote. It's worth reading once, and then getting a glass of scotch and reading again.
WTF???

Just who the hell are you rooting for, anyways?

All emphasis mine:

The differing theories about who was behind the bombings underscored the confusion generated by two days of bold, stunning attacks, beginning with a rocket barrage on a U.S. headquarters hotel Sunday that killed a U.S. colonel, wounded 15 other people and sent Americans scurrying to safety, including the visiting deputy defense secretary, Paul Wolfowitz.

Silent Running has the AP storyline for next week. No, I'm not posting it, you'll have to go read it. But it's worth it, trust me.

It's things like this why I call it the Seattle Post Intelligencer Commie Apologiser. Let's ignore the fact that we were attacked. Let's ignore the fact that we have a group of people calling for our deaths. Let's ignore EVERY SINGLE FACT THAT THERE IS in order to smear, insult, and defame a good majority of Americans.

Ignorant, worthless, scum-sucking puke. There aren't enough words in the English Language to tell you how I truly feel about David Horsey.
Jogging my memory

Tim's post about the protesters jogged my memory. When I was stationed in Korea, (2ID! Second to NONE!) I had the good fortune to observe the protests from a ways off. One thing that caught my eye were the Korean riot police. Now, most American Moonbats can recognise a riot shield, employed by police during those times when the Left shows it's idiocy in violent fashion. But the Korean police, instead of clear shields, had black kevlar shields, with a plate-glass slit to look through and some wierd round thing dead center on the front.

So I lean over to my Katusa (Korean Augmentation To the United States Army, for those who don't know), and asked "Hey Lim, what's that on the shield?" I pointed out the round thing, and Lim scratched his chin. He gave the Korean name for it, scratched his chin again, and pulled out his Korean/American dictionary. Flipped through the pages, grunted, and told me:

"Tazer".

Yes folks, if you got too close to the police line, they smacked you with their sheld, which carried about 40,000-50,000 volts in order to shock your ass onto the ground. Korean police DO NOT MESS AROUND! It was in Korea that I learned what true police brutality is. Most Americans are told "Don't fuck with the KNP's!" (Korean National Police). Those that are stupid enough to try, get smacked down. Hard. If you assaulted a KNP, you wound up in the hospital, and then in jail. Protests in Seoul involved Moltov cocktails and lead pipes. Don't even get my started on what the RIOTS were like.

Anywho, I was just thinking about that, and wondering if we could ship the protesters from the USA over to Korea. I'd love to see what would happen......

"I'm having a (fill in the blank here)-in, and you can't stop me!"

WHACK! WHACK! WHACK! ****CRUNCH**** thud....

Protestors Galore

There are two things that amaze me more than all else in this world:

a) when Philadelphians, faced with job loss, street crime, and failed public education, flock to the polls to elect another Democrat, and

b) protestors.

I was looking for some pics from the "anti-war" protest in DC so I went to Yahoo! Photos and searched for "protest".

Lo and behold: 797 pictures were found.

797 pictures of protest. Protestors, protestors, protestors. I have never seen so many protestors in all my natural born days. So many protestors.

In Hong Kong, they're protesting cuts of social programs due to budgetary shortfalls.

In London, it's students opposing "top up" fees on tuition. I presume that means a tax on students.

In Indonesia, it's about "sending female workers overseas". What does that mean?

In Pakistan, they are protesting Indian rule in Kashmir. And vice versa.

Also in London, they're protesting South Africa's inaction regarding human right abuses in Zimbabwe.

And in New Dehli, Indians protest that China abuses Tibet.

In Australia, they're protesting the shipment of nuclear waste to France. (( This, personally, I celebrate. ))

In Teheran, they're pissed that Iran is caving to the UN's calls for inspections.

In Chile? Higher wages.

In Turkey? Government control of universities.

In Belgrade? A Serbian police general has been indicted for war crimes.

In Rome? Pension reform.

Lima? Housing for the poor.

Managua? University funding.

Gaza? Take a wild guess.

Philly? "Ghettopoly" should be banned.

All of this angst at my desktop just because I took the simple step of searching for picutres of American anti-war protests. I never knew there was so much displeasure in the world.

As for the DC protests, well, I found some of those pictures, too, and what's notable about them is just how doggone unfocused American protestors are. In these other places the protests seem focused, singular in nature. But in America there seemingly exists this coalition of professional protestors who just travel around glomming off each other's causes.

You see pro-Palestine banners at anti-war gatherings, Save Sea Turtle posters at WTO protests, Impeach Bush! signs at NOW gatherings. It just all gets so jumbled here in the USA. It's all disjointed, like one big BitchFest, a big ole fishbowl with all manner of whiner in it.

At those foreign protests, they seem to be able to pick a theme and stick to it. I now admire that.

Yahoo! News are wacky, no? This picture's caption reads: "Thousands of students..." but look at the banners!
They say that cofee can help fight colon cancer.

Blogger let me in!

For some reason, Blogger didn't want to let me in today. But it seems like the problem passed. Good.

For those who don't know, the terrorists are ramping up their attacks in Bahgdad. The Red Cross and several police stations were attacked. As usual, all emphasis is mine.

Witnesses said a homicide bomber drove an explosives-packed ambulance up to the ICRC building's security barriers around 8:30 a.m. and detonated it, blowing down the front wall, devastating the interior and blowing shrapnel and debris over a wide area.

That's right, folks. The same tactics that the "palestinians" like to employ. And you wonder why I call them animals?

Officers stopped a fifth would-be homicide bomber at another police station in central Baghdad before he detonated his Land Cruiser. "He was shouting, 'Death to the Iraqi police! You're collaborators!"' said police Sgt. Ahmed Abdel Sattar

Time to take off the gloves, Mr. Bush. Time to hunt these people down.

"Of course we don't understand why somebody would attack the Red Cross," Doumani said. "The Red Cross has operated in this country since 1980, and we have not been involved in politics."

Two buildings away, the explosion devastated the interior of the Al-Nawal private polyclinic operated by Dr. Jamal F. Massa, 53, who had been planning to open it as a full-fledged hospital next month.

"This only hurts guards and other Iraqis," Massa said.

Note to Iraqis: These bombers, these terrorists, they don't care about you. They don't care about your life. They don't care about your country or your wife, or your children. They only care about putting you under their heel. You have just escaped from the tyranny of Saddam, and they want to put you under THEIR control. They don't want you to be happy. They don't want you to be free. They don't want you to live a productive life, where you can watch your family grow and prosper, THEY WANT YOU TO BE THEIR SLAVES.

Their actions prove it. Their words say it. And you must fight it. Or else every bit of freedom that you have gained will be lost in an instant.

Just too good

Well, it looks like someone was brave enough to walk through the crap that constituted the Anti-war rally in Washington D.C., and even better, she took pictures!

Pardon me whilst I laugh my ass off for a while.

Oh, and for those who think that these people aren't un-American, look for the yellow sign that reads: "Running Zionist-American Imperialist Dog: What Right do you think you have NOT to be afraid?"

I mean, is that a threat? Can I get my gun now? And the sign right above it reads "The destruction of the USA is a necessary condition for peace...." Really? That sounds like anti-americanism to me!

Go look for yourself. Take time to check out people shilling "The Militant" or communist propaganda, right next to the table selling bottled water. Ah, the irony!
And just for fun

We have yet another post that exposes just how idiotic, stupid, drone-like, worthess, drug-addled, and all around ignorant the Left truly is.

I'd love to post a reply in his comments, but dear Billmon has banned my IP, as well as Tim's. You see, when cowardly, craven, mentally deficient pukes hurl their insults, they don't like it when other people (such as myself and Tim) expose them as the frauds they truly are. Hence, they don't allow you to speak.

Typical of the Left, I would say. Anyone feel like posting a few messages? I'm sure you can get one or two posts before they're deleted and your IP banned.
AARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG!

Riddle me this, all you out there. You have a high profile coach. A star running back. Good recievers. And you brought in a defensive co-ordinater to ramp up your defense. You're five and one. You've defeated everyone in your division.

HOW IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY DO YOU ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE BEATEN BY THE LAUGHINGSTOCK OF THE NFL????????

Seattle sports fans = masochists. We enjoy being beaten, abused, and humiliated by our teams. There's no other explination.

Ah well, as much as this town sucks like a ten-dollar whore on payday, it only makes sense that our teams suck as well.
Ripping apart the "quagmire" lie

From one of the best reads on the Net. Mrs. du Toit shreds the comparison to Viet Nam, and then goes on to explain why Viet Nam turned out so horribly.

As for me, my father did two tours in Nam, and only spoke of it to me when I joined the military myself. A lot of his stories aren't too happy, but what really got to him was when he came back home, and protesters threw red paint on him, spit on him, and called him a baby killer.

You wonder why I hate protesters? Because I can never imagine anyone so repugnant as to blame a soldier for the sins of the government. Viet Nam was a war fought from the White House. There were 98 military targets in Viet Nam. 98. There were over 2000 in Iraq. You do the math.

And what makes me REALLY shudder is the fact that these same loons and fools calling Iraq a "quagmire" and "another Viet Nam" are the ones screaming that the UN should be put in charge. Excuse me? How long has the UN been in Bosina now? Don't bother looking, I'll tell you. SEVEN YEARS. SEVEN YEARS in a country smaller than Iraq, and yet Bosnia is in the same shape it was in when the UN took over. Our troops have been in Bosnia for SEVEN DAMN YEARS because we put the UN in charge, and you want to allow them to stick their fingers in Iraq? No, no thank you. Because in case you haven't figured it out, when people speak of "UN Peacekeepers", they're speaking of US service men and women, who take off their green helmet and put on a blue beret. Setting the UN loose on Iraq means that our troops are there for YEARS longer than they need to be. You want to see a quagmire? Just look at any country that the UN administers or has a hand in.

Keep the UN the HELL out of Iraq, and there won't be any quagmire. Let them in, and you can count on our troops stuck there for years.

MARLINS WIN THE WORLD SERIES

And Mariners fans around the world rejoice. DOWN WITH THE YANKEES!
Time for some more Hot Linky Love!

Yes, it's that time again, where I have too much to share. Been doing the TownHall.com thing, and some other places as well. First of all, we have Mark Steyn on the issue of Conservatism in the UK and Canada. It's an interesting read, giving you a small glimpse into the politics of a different country.

TownHall time. Jonah Goldberg writes on how he was wrong about France. They're even worse than he thought. Walter E. Williams writes on how the Education establishment is failing Black students in general, and all students as a whole. Mike S. Adams has a few thoughts on how to counter the Thought Police. Andrew Grossman comments on the multiple failures of Medicare, which is nothing more than a form of socialized healthcare. It's not an uplifting piece. And last but not least, Debra Saunders writes on the hypocrisy of the Black caucus, NAACP, and various other leftist groups who oppose the nomination of Judge Janice Brown.

I saved this for last because this is a subject that makes me want to tear my hair out and scream. The Left, for all of it's claims of "diversity", refuses to accept the fact that a minority can do well WITHOUT THE LEFT'S HELP! This can be seen by the Left's treatment of any black who left the plantation! When Condi Rice is called a "house nigger"... Condi Rice, who went to college AT THE AGE OF 15, gets called a "house nigger", Colin Powell, the first black Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Colin Powell, who has done more in his life than most of the Black Caucus combined, gets called a slave for Bush, it's infuriating. Julian Bond isn't fit to lick the dirt off of Condi Rice's shoe, and yet he's using every foul name in the book towards her. Watching the leftists go apeshit at successful, strong people like Rice and Powell, and Janice Brown, highlights just how low and how foul the Left has sunk. I truly hope that come election 2004, Bush holds up the filibusters of judges like Estrada, and Brown, and Priscilla Owens, and says "Look who the LEFT didn't want on a bench!" For all the hot air coming from the Left about how the Right is "racist", when Bush tries to nominate two black judges and a hispanic judge to some of the highest benches in the USA, it's the Left who refuses to allow it. And since I don't think I can accurately convey my true feelings on this subject, take a gander at Thomas Sowell's opinion on it as well.

What's the lesson here, folks? That the Left loves the dark skinned people, as long as they keep their asses on the plantation where they belong. The Right doesn't give a damn what your skin color is, as long as you can produce. The right looks at minorities as people. The Left looks at minorities as "Black people" or "Hispanic people" or "Fill-in-the-blank-and-add-a-hyphen-people". Which would you prefer?

Now then, let's see what we have in our grab bag, shall we?

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty has a novel plan to jumpstart his states education system, and this time it's one that I like! He wants to pay teachers what they're worth, but force them to give up the union.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (search), a Republican, wants to create a new educational job titled, "super teacher" for educators interested in making $100,000 in salary and bonuses -- but there's a catch. Teachers would have to give up certain union protections like tenure (search) and job security.

"They're willing to waive tenure and seniority rights," said Pawlenty. "So we can hire who we want, fire who we want and assign them when we want and how we want to assign them."

The "super teacher" bonuses would kick in when students improved their scores on standardized tests. Pawlenty is proposing that these "super teachers" replace the entire teaching staff at selected schools where students are under-achieving.

Expect the National Education Association to scream bloody murder over this. Fine. Let the NEA scream. The NEA has been one of the largest impediments to quality education in this country over the past few decades, and I would love nothing more than to see the NEA starved, dismembered, and killed. Have you ever wondered why good teachers weren't paid what they were worth, yet crappy teachers were paid very well? Just look at the NEA. Why should a second year teacher be at the bottom of the pay scale if they can GET KIDS TO LEARN!? Why should some tenure sucking leech get paid at all, if the kids in that class don't learn? Scrapping the NEA would be a huge first step towards improving education in this country.

Ready for more? Good. When can you tell that you're dealing with a brain-dead leftist? When they make statements like this.

"The U.S. government has no right to try and recolonize Iraq," said Peta Lindsay, national youth and student coordinator for International ANSWER (search) (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), which is organizing the protests with another group, United for Peace and Justice.

Wow... there are so many things wrong with this kid that I don't know where to start. First of all, let's just go with the fact that this is yet another Anti-War protest by the mindless drones. Ummm, I hate to wake you guys up to reality, but we're all ready in Baghdad. Happened a few months ago. Saddam's out of power now. Second of all, re-colonise? RE-colonise? When were we there the first time? What was the date of the first colonization? You can't even make a coherent statement, and yet you expect me to listen to you when you spout of your bullshit? Oh, and about us having no "right" to go into Iraq, you might be right on that one. Because we have a RESPONSIBILITY to be in Iraq right now. It was a responsibility we should have carried out in 1991, but we listened to people like you, and it never happened until this year. So screw off, Peta. What kind of a name is Peta, anyways? Peta. Are you like that twit who changed her name to Go-veg?

And since ANSWER is nothing more than a tool of the World Workers Party, the communist asshats, I really don't give a damn about what anyone from that organization has to say. Anyone who advocates a form of government that has killed over 100,000,000 people is a fool and an idiot. Or a dictator in training.

Organizers said most of the protesters will be high school and college students coming from more than 140 cities in the United States and Canada. Becker said Muslim groups, veterans, and families who have loved ones in Iraq or in the military also plan to attend.

There's a shocker, I tell ya! Highschool and college students protesting! Wow, who woulda thunk! Maybe it's because our educational system is nothing but a cesspool of liberal bullshit and indoctrination. Is that harsh? Good, it needs to be. I went through our precious publik skool sistim, and I thought it was full of shit way back then. Once I got out and was hit with reality, that realization sank in even deeper. These twits are airheaded idiots who have been taught to keep their heads firmly planted in their collective asses, no matter what.

I'd love to ship the lot of them off to Iraq, so they can get a dose of reality.

Cox and Forkum do it again!

Sheri Rules! This is amazing!
Your Attention Please!

Sheri from Two Nervous Dogs would like to say something. Take it away, Sheri!

• Time for a new acronym: "Jerms." (Jihadist Extremist Radical Muslims). By the way, if this is offensive to anyone, you either have poor reading comprehension skillls, or you weren't near a TV on September 11, 2001.

BWAAAA HAAAAAA HAAAAAAAA! I love it!

Thanks to Alpha Patriot to for the heads up. By the way, Alpha, what do you think?

That's enough to make a PC-Lefty cringe so violently that his eyes pop right out of the sockets.
Your 2nd Amendment rights quote for the day:

Remember Gil Hill, aka "Inspector Todd", the irate police chief from Beverly Hills Cop? I found a rather old but amusing and straightforward quote from him today about vigilintiism in this story.

"I'm always glad when assholes and bullets meet."

Pardon me while I laugh my ass off

My ancestry is Irish and Italian. I'd like to visit both countries in the future, but I'm thinking more and more that I should visit Italy first. Why? Because of remarks like this:

Umberto Bossi, Berlusconi's controversial reform minister, ended his boss's day in Strasbourg colorfully enough. According to the Daily Telegraph, Bossi told reporters that the EU elite were "filthy pigs" whose ambition was to "make paedophilia as easy as possible." And the euro? A "total flop." But then he came to his senses and explained that the EU was actually only "transforming vices into virtues" and "advancing the cause of atheism every day." When asked about he European arrest warrant — the latest example of EU laws that aspired to replace national laws — the described it as the next best thing to "dictatorship, deportation, and terror, instilling fear in the people," something that would lead to a Stalinist regime "multiplied by 25."

How can I not love a country who's leadership seems to take great pleasure in poking their fingers in the EU's collective eyes? Seriously, this man is making the speeches that I want to make!

Rome, Naples, Venice.... Oh yeah, I'm feeling it.

Oh, and by the way, remember the bombing of the UN building in Bagdad? Remember how the Barking Moonbats were screeching and hopping around claiming that it was the USA's fault?

Well, and independant panel just said "Nope".

"The main conclusion of the panel is that the current security management system is dysfunctional," said the 40-page report by former Finnish President Martti Ahtisaari, appointed by U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan to lead the investigation.

"The observance and implementation of security regulations and procedures were sloppy and noncompliance with security rules commonplace," the report said.

The probe also confirmed allegations made by U.S. officials -- that the United Nations in Baghdad had refused protection because it was uncomfortable with U.S. tanks and other security measures, wanting to distance itself from the occupation.

Consequently, U.N. officials asked the U.S. military to withdraw heavy equipment from the compound in the Canal Hotel, dismantle an observation post on the roof and remove obstacles and concertina wire from the access road where an orange flatbed truck approached and exploded, the report said.

You know, I don't want to kill everyone in the UN, I just want them OUT OF A JOB! The UN is nothing more than a cesspool of corruption, thugs, dictators, and two-legged parasites, and I'd love nothing more than to raze the UN building to the ground, piss on the ashes, and then build something that's actually worthwhile. Like, say, a homeless shelter.

Seems like other people feel the same way.
Another failure of Socialized Healthcare

As much as the Barking Moonbat Brigades love to bleat about how much cheaper drugs are in Canada, they never seem to figure out just WHY those drugs are cheaper. It's because the Canadian government refuses to honor the patent on drugs that have recently been made. Pharmacutical companies spend MILLIONS of dollars in research and development, and the expect to recoup that cost when they secure a patent and put the drug on the market. Well, if one country refuses to honor those patents, what do you think the company does?

It refuses to release their drug in that market.

Consider what drove New Brunswick's Bill and Mary Cooper (names changed to protect privacy) to head south to the U.S. for treatment of their Type II Diabetes. Bill discovered Glucophage XR was the most-effective drug, but it wasn't available under his provincial health plan. Mary, his wife, was doing well on Avandia. But when she switched from private pay to the provincial health plan, she was forced to start taking older medications even though they posed a risk of hypoglycemia and weight gain of 10 to 15 pounds..

Folks, this is Economics 101, OK? If you, through your government's regulations, refuse to allow a company to make a profit off of the companies product, then they will NOT MAKE THAT PRODUCT ANYMORE. It. Is. That. SIMPLE! Researchers and scientists cost MONEY! Labs and equipment cost MONEY! When you strip away the companies ability to recoup the money that they put into researching a particular drug, THEY WON'T DO ANY MORE RESEARCH!

And among the biggest sticks is the national government's threat to strip a drug company of its patent and allow generic companies, which bear no cost of research and development, the right to produce a drug if the patent-holding company fails to bring its products to market.

All of this means it takes much longer for new drugs to reach the Canadian consumer — and some never do.

Socialized Healthcare will do nothing but destroy the quality of medical care in this country. I read in an article that the reason Toronto got hit so hard with SARS is because they had an infectious patient lying on a gurney in the hospital's hallway for 12 hours! I see Canadians come down into the USA for healthcare on a daily basis! If government-controled healthcare is so great, why do you NEVER hear about an American going up to Canada for knee surgery? Heart surgery?

AIDS medication Reyataz, available in the U.S., hasn't even begun the approval process in Canada. Pegasus, a drug that treats Hepatitis C, has been approved in the U.S. for three years, where it's already available in a new and improved version. Canadians, however, still don't have access to the original version.

THIS is the system that Hillary Clinton wanted to put in place in America? No thank you.

Actually, let me restate that. No. Hell no. Not a CHANCE in hell NO! Let me add NO. Let me further state NO. Let me remind you, NO! Let me conclude with NO! And let's talk about the time I said NO!
Democrats claw each other

AEI has a neat little piece about how Democrat presidential hopefuls are scratching and clawing at each other. It's a good thing, I think.

Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and retired Gen. Wesley Clark are outsiders. Just as Bill Clinton was in 1992, Dean is the former governor of a small, out-of-the-way state who has never worked in Washington. Clark, meanwhile, made his career in the military and has never been an elected politician. He can claim ties to Clinton, too. Clark is from Little Rock and has opened his campaign headquarters in the Arkansas capital. More important, several former Clinton administration officials are working for Clark.

Dean never tires of reminding Democrats that his leading competitors are Washington insiders. "Here are the differences between me and the other folks, from Washington," he said during the October 9 debate in Phoenix. Dean is equally tireless in arguing that he represents the true Democratic faith, which he claims the Washington insiders have sold out. "Let me tell you . . . why the Democrats aren't winning," he said in the debate. "It is because we don't stand up for what we believe in."
Read it all here, if you are so inclined.
