Bows

So, I'm in the market for a compound bow.  I've taken some lessons and know how to use one, but I'm not a professional by any means.  I want a decent bow that's less than $500.

Any suggestions from the folks out there?  I'm going to be using it for hunting; with a bow added to my rifle and muzzle-loader, that'll give me three difference chances to get some venison in my freezer.

Is a sub-$500 hunting bow even feasible?

So morons in St Louis are rioting again.

They're rioting because an 18 year old felon who was wearing an ankle monitor (a little electronic ankle bracelet that allows the cops to know where he is, because he's a violent felon, did I mention the violent felon part?) and most important of all, FIRING A GUN AT A POLICE OFFICER was shot and killed.

Oh, and the cherry on the top of this shit sundae is that the gun this violent felon was shooting at a cop just happened to be stolen.  And this sub-human thug, VonDerrit Myers Jr., was already on house arrest for his previous gun felony.

So naturally the morons in St Louis call him a choirboy and start chanting about how bad the cops are, and then start rioting.

It's really incomprehensible to be how these people can be claiming that their little choir boy wasn't doing anything wrong.  How dumb and stupid do you have to be for you to riot over a violent thug getting shot for being a violent, gun-toting thug who shoots at cops?

Added:  Hey, what's a sure-fire way to get popular opinion on our side?  Steal American flags from homes and burn them!  Yeah, that's the ticket!

Obama sells out the Kurds for cheap.

They’ve been shafted again. The editors of Bloomberg note that the Turks are watching ISIS destroy the Kurds, in much the same way as the Soviets stood by and let the Nazis crush the Warsaw uprising. 

If there has been one group of people that we could actually trust to do what they say they were going to do, (other than Israel), it's been the Kurds.  And they could have been our strongest ally in the Middle East of all the Muslim groups.  Instead, Obama is letting them be slaughtered wholesale.

The next time someone turns down our offerings, remember that we allowed our allies to die in lots, rather than lift one single finger that might upset some turbaned dictator.  The destruction of America's foreign policy under Obama is complete.  He has alienated our allies, destroyed alliances, given our enemies hope and strength, and killed future alliances dead before they even had a chance to start.

Is Obama was actively working to destroy America, or is he so incompetent that he destroys everything he touches?  At this point, how would you tell the difference?

Cooking salmon

On the grill.  Brown sugar and soy sauce glaze, with various herbs (garlic!  garlic!  more garlic!).

Rice simmering right now.  Sliced some red onion super thin and tossed that on top of the water.  Gives the rice great flavor.  Added garlic.  Of course.

Drinking scotch.  Will transition to water when it's time to eat.

So the intertubes are all abuzz regarding the crazy guy who jumped the White House fence and made it into the actual White House.

The Secret Service is being raked over the coals on this one.  Deservedly so, as you're not supposed to allow random crazy people into the Presidential residence.  But here's a thought:

Perhaps the Secret Service doesn't actually want to protect this particular president?

By all accounts, Uh-bama is a raging douchebag, and his Klingon-looking wife is a raging racist who treats people like crap.  Treating the people who protect your life like a bunch of semi-human drones isn't the best way to engender feelings of loyalty.  And while it is their job to protect the President and his family, being ragged on for six years does tend to affect your mental state when it comes to your job.
