Who needs loopholes when you don't even enforce the laws you have?

I mean, when an illegal alien gets popped for his FOURTH FUCKING DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE, and he wasn't jailed or deported for the FIRST THREE TIMES HE WAS DRIVING DRUNK, who the hell needs loopholes?

When the Mexican government and the US government are working together to provide medical care to illegal aliens, WHO THE HELL NEEDS LOOPHOLES?

In order for loopholes in the law to have any kind of meaning, you first have to ENFORCE THE DAMN LAWS! Something that the US government has failed to do, INTENTIONALLY.

And they wonder why we don't want any part of their shamnesty bill? Huh. Go figure.

Immigration reform

My father sent me the loopoles, listed below, for the Immigration reform bill. Now, these may or may not be valid.

I have my own Immigration reform I would like to propose

1 Any employer guilty of employing more than 1% illegal immigrants as their workforce would have the following happen their business license will be permanently revoked,
2 all of their assetts would be seized to pay for border patrol
3 the illegal immigrants in their employ would be fingerprinted and have a felony on their record for forging federal identification documents, including a social security card
4 due to #3 they would never be allowed US Citizenship, to come here as a legal immigrant, or even given a work visit
5 all illegal aliens would be deported
6 all "anchor babies" would be given dual citizen ship, but would be deported with their parents. They would not supply benefits to their illegal parents.
7 all US Armed forces and Goverment agencies would have war games with paint balls on the 10 miles of US soil parellel to the US/Mexico border.

I would add to this amendments for all aliens

1 If you are not a bonafide US Citizen you will not receive any benenfits (welfare, SS, unemployment, unified health care)
2 All aliens must learn english with in 6 months of entering the US work force, otherwise they will not get it re up'd
3 no official government form, signs, or education shall be done in any language other than (US) English



My reasoning for the above measures are as follows:

1 I have heard it many times, and firmly agree that if you take away the jobs, then the illegal immigrants will not have a reason to come, so we make hiring illegal immigrants too high of a risk
2 If you take away opportunities, they will not come
3 I think it just sounds like fun
Not to mention, it would make it far more likely for wetbacks to be discovered as they cross the border illegally.
4 The official language of the US is English, not Spanish, and shall remain this way as long as I have something to say about it!!!!

20 Loopholes in the Senate Immigration Bill

• Loophole 1 – Legal Status Before Enforcement:

Amnesty benefits do not wait for the “enforcement trigger.” After filing an application and waiting 24 hours, illegal aliens will receive full “probationary benefits,” complete with the ability to legally live and work in the U.S., travel outside of the U.S. and return, and their own social security card. Astonishingly, if the trigger is never met and amnesty applications are therefore never “approved,” the probationary benefits granted to the illegal alien population never expire, and the new social security cards issued to the illegal alien population are not revoked. [See pp. 1, 290-291, & 315].

• Loophole 2 – U.S. VISIT Exit Not In Trigger:

The “enforcement trigger,” required to be met before the new temporary worker program begins, does not require that the exit portion of U.S. VISIT system – the biometric border check-in/check-out system first required by Congress in 1996 that is already well past its already postponed 2005 implementation due date – to be in place before new worker or amnesty programs begin. Without the U.S. VISIT exit portion, the U.S. has no method to ensure that workers (or their visiting families) do not overstay their visas. Our current illegal population contains 4 to 5.5 million visa overstays, therefore, we know that the U.S. VISIT exit component is key to a successful new temporary worker program. [See pp. 1-2].

• Loophole 3 – Trigger Requires No More Agents, Beds, or Fencing Than Current Law:

The “enforcement trigger” does not require the Department of Homeland Security to have detention space sufficient to end “catch and release” at the border and in the interior. Even after the adoption of amendment 1172, the trigger merely requires the addition of 4,000 detention beds, bringing DHS to a 31,500 bed capacity. This is far short of the 43,000 beds required under current law to be in place by the end of 2007, or the additional 20,000 beds required later in the bill. Additionally, the bill establishes a “catch, pay, and release” program. This policy will benefit illegal aliens from countries other than Mexico that are caught at the border, then can post a $5,000 bond, be released and never show up for deportation hearings. Annual failure to appear rates for 2005 and 2006, caused in part by lack of detention space, doubled the 2004 rate (106,000 – 110,000 compared with 54,000). Claims that the bill “expands fencing” are inaccurate. The bill only requires 370 miles of fencing to be completed, while current law already mandates that more than 700 miles be constructed [See pp. 1-2, & 10-11, and EOIR’s FY2006 Statistical Yearbook, p. H2, and The Secure Fence Act of 2004].

• Loophole 4 -- Three Additional Years Worth of Illegal Aliens Granted Status, Treated Preferentially To Legal Filers:

Aliens who broke into the country illegally a mere 5 months ago, are treated better than foreign nationals who legally applied to come to the U.S. more than two years ago. Aliens who can prove they were illegally in the U.S. on January 1, 2007, are immediately eligible to apply from inside the U.S. for amnesty benefits, while foreign nationals that filed applications to come to the U.S. after May 1, 2005 must start the application process over again from their home countries. Last year’s bill required illegal aliens to have been here before January 7, 2004 to qualify for permanent legal status. [See pp. 263, 282, & 306].

• Loophole 5 – Completion of Background Checks Not Required For Probationary Legal Status:

Legal status must be granted to illegal aliens 24 hours after they file an application, even if the aliens have not yet “passed all appropriate background checks.” (Last year’s bill gave DHS 90 days to check an alien’s background before any status was granted). No legal status should be given to any illegal alien until all appropriate background checks are complete. [See pp. 290].

• Loophole 6 – Some Child Molesters Are Still Eligible:

Some aggravated felons – those who have sexually abused a minor – are eligible for amnesty. A child molester who committed the crime before the bill is enacted is not barred from getting amnesty if their conviction document omitted the age of the victim. The bill corrects this loophole for future child molesters, but does not close the loophole for current or past convictions. [See p. 47: 30-33, & p. 48: 1-2]

• Loophole 7 – Terrorism Connections Allowed, Good Moral Character Not Required:

Illegal aliens with terrorism connections are not barred from getting amnesty. An illegal alien seeking most immigration benefits must show “good moral character.” Last year’s bill specifically barred aliens with terrorism connections from having “good moral character” and being eligible for amnesty. This year’s bill does neither. Additionally, bill drafters ignored the Administration’s request that changes be made to the asylum, cancellation of removal, and withholding of removal statutes in order to prevent aliens with terrorist connections from receiving relief. [Compare §204 in S. 2611 from the 109^th Congress with missing §204 on p. 48 of S.A. 1150, & see missing subsection (5) on p. 287 of S.A. 1150].

• Loophole 8 – Gang Members Are Eligible:

Instead of ensuring that members of violent gangs such as MS 13 are deported after coming out of the shadows to apply for amnesty, the bill will allow violent gang members to get amnesty as long as they “renounce” their gang membership on their application. [See p. 289: 34-36].

• Loophole 9 – Absconders Are Eligible:

Aliens who have already had their day in court – those subject to final orders of removal, voluntary departure orders, or reinstatement of their final orders of removal – are eligible for amnesty under the bill. The same is true for aliens who have made a false claim to citizenship or engaged in document fraud. More than 636,000 alien fugitives could be covered by this loophole. [See p. 285:19-22 which waives the following inadmissibility grounds: failure to attend a removal proceeding; final orders of removal for alien smuggling; aliens unlawfully present after previous immigration violations or deportation orders; and aliens previously removed. This appears to conflict with language on p. 283:40-41. When a direct conflict appears in a statute, the statue is interpreted by the courts to the benefit of the alien.].

• Loophole 10 – Learning English Not Required For A Decade:

Illegal aliens are not required to demonstrate any proficiency in English for more than a decade after they are granted amnesty. Learning English is not required for an illegal alien to receive probationary benefits, the first 4-year Z visa, or the second 4-year Z visa. The first Z visa renewal (the second 4-year Z visa) requires only that the alien demonstrate an “attempt” to learn English by being “on a waiting list for English classes.” Passing a basic English test is required only for a second Z visa renewal (the third 4-year Z visa), and even then the alien only has to pass the test “prior to the expiration of the second extension of Z status” (12 years down the road). [See pp. 295-296].

• Loophole 11 – Earned Income Tax Credit Will Cost Taxpayers Billions In Just 10 Years:

Current illegal aliens and new guest workers will be eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, a refundable tax credit designed to encourage American citizens and legal permanent residents to work. The Congressional Budget Office estimates that this loophole will cost the U.S. taxpayer up to $20 billion dollars in just the first 10 years after the bill’s enactment. To be consistent with the intent of the 1996 welfare reforms – which limited new immigrants from receiving public benefits until they had been legal permanent residents for five years – the bill should withhold EITC eligibility from amnestied aliens until they become legal permanent residents. Closing this loophole will save the taxpayers billions of dollars. [See p. 293 after S.A. 1190 was adopted, p. 307, p. 315, §606. All that is required for EITC eligibility is a social security number and resident alien status. Nothing in the bill’s tax provisions limit EITC eligibility. The issuance of social security numbers to aliens as soon as they apply for amnesty will ensure they are able to qualify for the EITC.]

• Loophole 12 – Affidavits From Friends Accepted As Evidence:

Records from day-labor centers, labor unions, and “sworn declarations” from any non-relative (acquaintances, friends, coworkers, etc) are to be accepted as evidence that the illegal alien has satisfied the bill’s amnesty requirements. This low burden of proof will invite fraud and more illegal immigration – even aliens who are not yet in the U.S. will likely meet this burden of proof. DHS will not have the resources to examine whether the claims contained in the “sworn declarations” of the alien’s friends (that the alien was here prior to January 1, 2007 and is currently employed) are actually valid. [See p. 293: 13-16].

• Loophole 13 – Taxpayer Funded Legal Counsel and Arbitration:

Free legal counsel and the fees and expenses of arbitrators will be provided to aliens that have been working illegally in agriculture. The U.S. taxpayer will fund the attorneys that help these individuals fill out their amnesty applications. Additionally, if these individuals have a dispute with their employer over whether they were fired for “just cause,” DHS will “pay the fee and expenses of the arbitrator.” [See p. 339:37-41, & p. 332: 37-38.]

• Loophole 14 – In-State Tuition and Student Loans:

In-state tuition and other higher education benefits, such as Stafford Loans, will be made available to current illegal aliens that are granted initial “probationary” status, even if the same in-state tuition rates are not offered to all U.S. citizens. This would normally violate current law (8 U.S.C. §1623) which mandates that educational institutions give citizens the same postsecondary education benefits they offer to illegal aliens. [See p. 321: 8-31].

• Loophole 15 – Inadequacy of the Merit System:

The “merit system,” designed to shift the U.S. green card distribution system to attract higher skilled workers that benefit the national interest, is only a shell of what it should have been. Though the merit system begins immediately, it will not increase the percentage of high skilled immigrants coming to the United States until 2016, 8 years after enactment. Of the 247,000 green cards dedicated to the merit based system each year for the first 5 years, 100,000 green cards will be reserved for low-skilled guest workers (10,000) and for clearing the current employment based green card backlog (90,000). From 2013 to 2015, the number of merit based green cards drops to 140,000, and of that number, 100,000 green cards are still reserved each year for low-skilled guest workers (10,000) and for clearing the current employment based green card backlog (90,000). Even after 2015, when the merit system really begins (in 2016) by having 380,000 green cards annually, 10,00 green cards will be reserved specifically for low skilled workers, and points will be given for many characteristics that are not considered “high-skilled.” For example, 16 points will be given for aliens in “high demand occupations” which includes janitors, maids, food preparation workers, and groundskeepers. [See p.260: 25 – p. 261: 20, p. 262, & The Department of Labor’s list of “occupations with the largest job growth” available at www.bls.gov/emp/emptab3.htm].

• Loophole 16 – Visas For Individuals That Plan To Overstay:

The new “parent” visa contained in the bill which allows parents of citizens, and the spouses and children of new temporary workers, to visit a worker in the United States is not only a misnomer, but also an invitation for high rates of visa overstays. This new visa specifically allows the spouse and children of new temporary workers who intend to abandon their residence in a foreign country, to qualify to come to the U.S. to “visit.” The visa requires only a $1,000 bond, which will be forfeited when, not if, family members of new temporary workers decide to overstay their 30 day visit. Workers should travel to their home countries to visit their families, not the other way around. [See p. 277:1 – 33, and p. 276: 38-43].

• Loophole 17 – Chain Migration Tippled Before Being Eliminated:

Though the bill will eventually eliminate chain migration (relatives other than spouses and children of citizens and legal permanent residents), it will not have full effect until 2016. Until then, chain migration into the U.S. will actually triple, from approximately 138,000 chain migrants a year (equal to 14% of the 1 million green cards the U.S. currently distributes on an annual basis) to approximately 440,000 chain migrants a year (equal to 45% of the 1 million green cards the U.S. currently distributes on an annual basis). [See pp. 260:13, p. 270: 29 – pp. 271: 17]

• Loophole 18 – Back Taxes Not Required:

Last year’s bill required illegal aliens to prove they had paid three of their last five years of taxes to get amnesty. This year, payment of back taxes is not required for amnesty. The bill requires taxes to be paid at the time of application for a green card, but at that time, only proof of payment of Federal taxes (not state and local) is required for the years the alien worked on a Z visa, not the years the alien has already worked illegally in the United States. Though Senator McCain’s S.A. 1190, adopted by voice vote, claimed to “require undocumented immigrants receiving legal status to pay owed back taxes,” the amendment actually only required proof of payment of taxes for “any year during the period of employment required by subparagraph (D)(i).” Since the bill does not contain a subparagraph (D)(i), nor require any past years of employment as a prerequisite for amnesty, the amendment essentially only requires proof of payment of taxes for future work in the U.S., not payment of “back taxes.” [See p. 307, and p. 293 as altered by S.A. 1190, amendment p. 2: 19-20.]

• Loophole 19 – Social Security Credits Allowed For Some Illegal Work Histories:

Aliens who came to the U.S. on legal visas, but overstayed their visas and have been working in the U.S. for years, as well as illegal aliens who apply for Z visa status but do not qualify, will be able to collect social security credits for the years they worked illegally. Under the bill, if an alien was ever issued a social security account number – all work-authorized aliens who originally came on legal visas receive these – the alien will receive Social Security credits for any “quarters of coverage” the alien worked after receiving their social security account number. Because the bill requires social security account numbers to be issued “promptly” to illegal aliens as soon as they are granted “any probationary benefits based upon application [for Z status]” (these benefits are granted 24 hours after the application is filed), an illegal alien who is denied Z visa status but continues to work illegally in the U.S. will accumulate Social Security credits. [See pp. 316:8 – 16, and pp. 315: 32-39]

• Loophole 20 – Criminal Fines Not Proportional To Conduct:

The criminal fines an illegal alien is required to pay to receive amnesty are less than the bill’s criminal fines for paperwork violations committed by U.S. citizens, and can be paid by installment. Under the bill, an illegal alien must pay a $1,000 criminal fine to apply for a Z visa, and a $4,000 fine to apply for a green card. Eighty percent of those fines can be paid on an installment plan. Under the bill’s confidentiality provisions, someone who improperly handles or uses information on an alien’s amnesty application can be fined $10,000. Administration officials suggest that the bill’s “criminal fines are proportionate to the criminal conduct.” Why, then, is the fine for illegally entering, using false documents to work, and live one-tenth the fine for a paperwork violation committed by a government official? [See p. 287: 34, p. 317: 9, p. 315:6-8, & remarks made by Secretary Gutierrez on Your World with Neil Cavuto, 4:00 May 31, 2007]

Economic Indicators

Folks, there's a damn good post up at Kim du Toit's that stems from this post. It's a must read for any and all who have to deal with socialists and members of the Democrat American Communist Party. (but I repeat myself)

I work at a brokerage that has about 150 clients, almost all of whom qualify as high net worth investors. Since the last election we’ve all joked about the Republicans losing all reins of government, the appearance of the nanny state, and what will happen to American initiative. All conversations included a paragraph or so of stock liquidation. Until last week this was all talk. On Thursday last three of our clients began slowly liquidating their stocks with the intention of being out of the market within a month. The talk is rampant, but so far it’s mainly talk. So far…

The main problem with taxing wealth excessively is that wealth can move. These guys are all a keystroke or a signed document away from being residents and citizens of Dubai or any one five or six other countries. It CAN happen here; unlikely but a possibility.

The Free Market will not be denied. And if you try to deny it, the Free Market will move somewhere else. Which means that the capital that we as a country use to keep our economy moving will not be there when we need it. If you tax the hell out of someone, that person will do whatever they can to keep more of their own hard-earned money in their pockets and out of the greedy, clutching hands of the gummint. And that means moving their money to a country that won't take it from them hand over fist.

Well, just where do you think the money for loans comes from? Where do you think investment capital comes from? Do you think that banks own all that money they deal with? Hell no. That money belongs to someone else. When I put my money into a CD or a savings account, the reason the bank pays me interest is because THEY ARE USING MY MONEY. They use it to give out loans, or to conduct other business. The interest I accrue is my payment for allowing the bank to use my money.

Now, if the gummint decides that I have too much money in my savings account, and they take a big chunk of it, what reasons do I have for keeping my money in that bank? Why wouldn't I take my money out of a US bank and invest it offshore somewhere else that won't take as much in taxes?

Here's a Capital Gains tax calculator you can use to find out just how much money the gummint will take from you if you sold some stocks today. If the Democrat American Communist Party gets their way, your Capital Gains tax rate is going to skyrocket. And you can bet your bottom dollar that before that tax hike kicks in, people are going to be selling their stocks left and right so that they can move their money somewhere else.

Pray for President Bush to veto a whole bunch of spending bills from Congress. And remember just who you want to deal with in 2008.

Marine Corps General Pace

Has more honor and integrity in his left nostril than Dingy Harry Reid has in his entire body, plus a couple more Democrat American Communist Party congresscritters combined. From an interview with Gen. Pace:

One thing that was discussed was whether or not I should just voluntarily retire and take the issue off the table. I said I could not do that for one very fundamental reason and that is that PFC Pace in Baghdad should not think – ever – that his chairman, whoever that person is, could have stayed in the battle and voluntarily walked off the battlefield. That is unacceptable as a leadership thing in my mind.

So I elected not to submit my request for retirement until after it was publicly known that I was no longer going to be renominated.

That is very important to me. The other part that is important to me is personal. The first piece holds true for anybody in this position – anybody.

The other piece for me personally was that some 40 years ago I left some guys on the battlefield in Vietnam who lost their lives following 2nd Lt. Pace. And I promised myself then that I will serve this country until I was no longer needed — that it’s not my decision. I need to be told that I’m done.

I’ve been told I’m done.

I will run through the finish line on 1 October, and when I run through the finish line I will have met the mission I set for myself.

Honor, integrity, commitment - something that Congress couldn't find if it's collective lives depended on it. And a man with has all three in abundance is getting kicked to the curb for political expediency.

Reading over at Ace of Spades HQ, I find out that Glen(s) Greenwald called Glenn Reynolds gay. Oh, and Victor Davis Hanson as well, plus a few other names tossed in there.

Now, I really don't listen to anything Glen(s) Greenwald says, mainly because he's a shit-for-brains maggot who's arguments are so weak that he has to go around using psuedonyms trying to prop them up. But he's too fucking stupid to do it from different IP addresses, so when he got caught he did what any Leftist does - squeals like a pig about something or other, try to change the subject, and deny that he ever did anything, and it's all Bush's fault anyways. He's a fucking joke, and the people who read him are even more pathetic than he is. But intimating that Insty and VDH are gay? That's even more pathetic.

Anyways, I was reading Ace and shaking my head at just how idiotic Glen(s) has become, when I got to this:

Somewhere I've got a song in Italian which translates to "I'm the Gondoleer". It's sung by the Gondoleers as they pole their way through the canals of Venice. Well, OK, not all of them sing it, but a few of them do and it's a nice song. I've really got to find it and change a few words around, because every time I see a post or remark by Glen(s) Greenwald, that exact song runs throught my head, but the words have been changed to "I'm the Puppeteer". It's still sung with that Italian style, though.

Trent Lott

Working hard to ensure that the Republicans remain a minority.

Comments by Republican senators on Thursday suggested that they were feeling the heat from conservative critics of the bill, who object to provisions offering legal status. The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”

At some point, Mr. Lott said, Senate Republican leaders may try to rein in “younger guys who are huffing and puffing against the bill.”

Are you SHITTING ME? Why the hell was this worthless asshead ever put back into any position of power? Dear lord, if Trent Lott wants to destroy half the damn reason people vote for Republicans in the first place, then he can go straight to hell, and the idiots from Mississippi can go with him.

Can anyone give me one damn good reason why the Republicans should continue being a political party? Or more to the point, why the HELL should conservatives ever vote for Republicans again?

After Dingy Harry himself said that yes, he did say what everyone said he said. Folks, here's the problem with Leftists - even with the truth staring them in the face, they refuse to acknowledge it. People like Glen(s) Greenwald, Oliver Willis (like hungry to Twinkies!), The Krazy Kos Kids, they deny, deny, deny, never admitting that the facts prove them wrong, all in the name of political gain.

To the Left, facts are disposable. Anything that doesn't fit their preconceived notion gets tossed out the window, and they'll just make shit up in order to fit their agenda.

Well, for all that griping, it seems the Politico nailed this story, and Drudge just did what he always does--amplify it. Dr. Barbin still contends this is a non-story--though, apparently factually accurate despite protestations to the contrary--because it was just "a throw away line...that Harry Reid said to the unable-to-be-reconfirmed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff's face." And Geiger puts off the outrageous statement Reid claims to have made to the senator's "tendency to speak like the straight-talking, former boxer that he is." Which is worse?

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid called Marine Gen. Peter Pace, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, "incompetent" during an interview Tuesday with a group of liberal bloggers, a comment that was never reported.

Reid made similar disparaging remarks about Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, said several sources familiar with the interview.

Who would you rather have on your side: A battle-proven soldier with years of experience dealing in real-world matters, or a worthless, corrupt, limp-dicked shitheel who's only claim to fame is shady land deals in Nevada and convincing enough stupid people to elect him to Congress?

General Petraeus takes a shit bigger than Dingy Harry Reid on a daily basis. Harry the fucking dipshit Reid isn't fit to wipe the dirt off of the General's boots. And unlike that worthless asscannon Congresscritter, Gen. Patraeus actually does real work, which means that yes, he DOES get dirt on his boots. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirmed Thursday that he told liberal bloggers last week that he thinks outgoing Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace is "incompetent."

Reid acknowledged similarly disparaging Army Gen. David Petraeus, head of Multinational Forces in Iraq.

But Reid, whose comments to bloggers first appeared in The Politico, also told reporters: "I think we should just drop it."

I'm still recovering

From this latest detail. The wife is back home after being away for a couple of weeks. However, she brought back a few things that I've been missing:

Guinness. Oh, sweet nectar of Ireland!
Fresh Keta Salmon. That was smoked today. The wife and I dined on smoked salmon and cheese for dinner.
Luksasova Vodka. We can't get it down here. It makes a damn fine Vodka martini. I know that there are a few people who would sneer at a VODKA martini, but I like 'em with either good gin or good vodka, and this is GOOD vodka!

I managed to bring back a few things from La Republica Dominicana for the family. For my dear wife, a bottle of outstanding rum. A painting for my mom. And a box of Dominican Cohibas for my father.

I'm still recharging my batteries. I'll get back into the swing of things for right now, but life just took a hectic turn. I'm as busy as a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest. Although it looks like I may be leaving Puerto Rico sooner than I thought.

The ceremony went well. We managed to gel together as best we could. One of the hard things about doing funeral details down here is that you never have the same team twice. Every team has someone different, or everybody different on it.

That makes a big difference, when you're trying to co-ordinate just how long your steps are going to take. Drill and Ceremony means just that. DRILL and CEREMONY. In order to have that ceremony done properly, you've got to drill, drill and drill. Getting a group of people together and telling them "Forward, MARCH!" only works if the people you're giving the orders to know and have drilled with each other long enough to do it right. There's no calling cadence during a funeral. There's nobody counting time. The team has to do it all together, with no communication between the troops. That takes practice, and more practice.

The firing team is the same way. I know I have a lot of folks around here who own personal weapons. I want you to try something. Grab a buddy and a firearm you're not afraid to dry-fire. Stand side by side, not looking at each other. Have someone call out "Ready (charge weapon), Aim (point weapon), FIRE! (obviously fire)". You must charge the weapons in unison, move in tandem, and fire at the exact same time. It should just sound like one loud gunshot. Or one single click, since you're dry firing.

Give it a try. It ain't easy. Now try to do it with seven people at the same time. There is no "Well, it kinda sounded good" statements. It either sounds damn good, or it sounds like hyperactive kids popping rounds off at a firing range. Everybody has to be on the same page, and that takes practice, and more practice.

Now, I told you all that so I could tell you this:

I know that there are a lot of people down here who aren't worth the time of day. But I'm always grateful for the professionalism of the troops who pull funeral details. We're always trying to get familiar with someone new, someone we've never worked with before. It's like constantly re-inventing the wheel over and over. And yet they always make it work. We drill and practice until we get it perfect. We improvise. We deal with changes that are thrown at us left and right as people with shiny metal things on their collar say "Hey, why don't we do this instead?" at the very last minute. At one point it was so bad that even after the dress rehearsal, things were STILL getting changed and we had to adjust on the fly. They busted their asses, and I've learned more from them about D&C than I learned in my first five year tour.

I'm proud to be part of it.

Honors

The Soldier arrives in Santo Domingo today. We'll be on Honor Guard, and then the Ceremony tomorrow.

I hope you'll all understand if I don't write another post until Monday.

The Amnesty Bill isn't dead yet, but it's gasping for air. Good. We need to keep our hands wrapped around it's neck until the thing is dead and gone. We don't need an 800 page tome of laws that will promptly be ignored as soon as the ink is wet. We need two things, and two things only:

1) Secure the borders.
2) Enforce the existing laws.

It really is that simple. And the government has failed to do it for decades, until we have millions upon millions of illegal aliens living in America and cities ignoring the laws that are written. Since the government has proven beyond a doubt that they can't or won't do a damn thing, why should we trust them to follow ANY of the Amnesty Bill they wanted to pass?

Kill the Bill. Kill it, burn it, shred the ashes, and then bury them in a septic tank somewhere.

So, how did the death of a sole suicide bomber become the Wall Street Journal headline of "Suicide Bombing in Fallujah Leaves 25 Dead, 50 Wounded"? To be fair, NPR, CBS, Sky News, and CNN all parroted the same numbers, as they rushed to report something—anything! The answer is a 20-minute helicopter away in Baghdad. Where the majority of "reporting" is done from the Green Zone.

Bottom line - if you get your news on Iraq from a newspaper, you're being lied to. Period. Matt Sanchez, who posted this report, also left a comment:

(Far, far, far too many to mention, starting with the white wash of Stalin's atrocities in the Soviet Union and including publishing identifying information on CIA aircraft, and other highly classified information. Toss in their hypocrisy in championing the "leaking" of information when it suits their purpose, but demanding the heads of whoever "outed" Valerie Plame by any means necessary except actually asking journalists who told them what.)

I could go on, but that ought to be more than enough.

Compared to that, what the hell has Fox News done that merits such vitriol? I know it's usually a bad idea to -- as Bill O'Reilly likes to say -- "justify bad behavior by citing other bad behavior," but in this case it seems that Fox is being punished for sins that pale in comparison to others' misdeeds.

I was remiss yesterday

I was so damn busy that I forgot to sit down and remember my history.

June 6th, 1944. D-Day.

I think it's rather fitting, that on the very day when so many brave men sacrificed themselves to bring freedom to an entire continent, I was practicing the movements and drills to honor a fallen comrade, who gave the ultimate sacrifice trying to bring freedom to yet another continent.

Sixty-three years after the Greatest Generation began the charge into hell, our soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen are still going strong. Still fighting against insane lunatics. The tactics may have changed, the enemy may be swarthy and dark instead of blond haired and blue-eyed, but the mentality we fight, the arrogant superiority and quest for world domination - those are the same. And we're still fighting against it. For all our sakes, I hope we continue to fight against it.

Sixty-three years ago, some Sergeant was doing just what I'm doing now - going through the drills, practicing, in order to render honors to a fallen comrade. He had different medals on his chest - perhaps a German Campaign medal, maybe a Pacific Campaign ribbon. But the rank on our sleeves will be the same. It's the Non-Coms who perform the ceremony. Officers can give a speech, but NCO's fire the 21 gun salute. NCO's carry the casket, NCO's fold the flag. Some un-named Sergeant and I, separated by over six decades, but we're doing the same exact things. The very same motions and drills. And for the very same reason:

To honor a fallen comrade. And the Soldiers we honor fell for the same reasons - to fight a mentality that would enslave the world if it could.

God bless those that fell sixty-three years ago. It is from them that we take the inspiration we hold today.

Sprinting in place

Finally got online today. Wrote an email to the Raging Mrs. Reply to an email from a friend. Then hit 4RWWS.

The soldier hasn't returned to Santo Domingo yet. Paperwork issues. That should be settled at some point, and then they'll fly him here, where we'll pick him up. Honor Guard, most likely 24 hours. Then the ceremony. He's going to be cremated, so there won't be a funeral in the common sense of the word. From what I understand, we'll be bringing his casket right out into the street. The police are going to shut off traffic for a couple of blocks, and there will be people everywhere.

It's going to be interesting, to say the least.

In the meantime, it's practice, practice, practice, meeting, practice, meal time, meeting, practice, meeting, meal time, bed time. Roughly. That's an approximation, not a direct copy from my schedule. I've got another meeting in twenty minutes, so I'll sign off for now and let you all get back to the blogs where people are actually posting this week!

I've been hammered. Not as in drunk, but as in so damn busy with work that I've barely had time to breathe. And it's only going to get worse. TVE, Tim, I hope you have a couple of posts ready, because I'm leaving on Monday.

Once again, I will be the Rifle Team Leader for a military funeral, this one in Santo Domingo. I don't know if I'll have internet access or not. In Panama, I had about 10 minutes per day, which was enough to check my email and then get off the computer.

I'll be posting during the weekend, but come Monday afternoon I'm on a plane getting ready to give another soldier their final send off. I won't be back until Friday night or Saturday morning.

You know, every now and then I find some leftist anti-war shithead who spouts off some insult that they've kept on hand just to use against conservatives. "Oh, well you don't know what it's like for the families. You've never seen what the families go through. You don't blah blah blah blah blah." Whatever. You know what? I have attended the funerals of many people in the military, and each one of those people I rendered honors to are better than any of the worthless pusbuckets who currently reside on the Left side of the political sphere.

You think I don't know what the family goes through? I guarantee one thing - I have a much firmer grasp on the grief of a military family than 99.999% of the Leftist shitnozzles that shriek and gibber and use the troops as a political weapon. The left hates the military. The Left LOATHES the military with a passion, plain and simple. I don't care what the current Leftist de jour says on any given day, all you have to do is look at their actions and you can see that the Left would just prefer it if the United States Military would just go away and never come back. If it's not John F'ing Kerry calling the troops stupid, it's Rosie the Stupid Fucking Cow calling them terrorists. Or, it's Moonbat Protesters exhorting the troops to shoot their officers. Or it's Hillary Clinton trying to get military uniforms banned from the White House. Or it's Charlie the Corrupt Communist Rangel calling them all poor and uneducated. Or it's Cindy Sheehan calling them a bunch of murdering thugs. Or it's any of the Leftist idiots and morons in Congress cutting the budget, screwing with troop funding, ect., ect., ect., the list keeps going on and on. And the Left as a whole doesn't give a shit if a soldier dies. They. Just. Don't. Care. UNLESS, they can use that soldier's death as a way to score political points. And then it's "Oh, the troops are dying! Don't you care about the troops? You don't care about the troops!" Fuck off, you Leftist zombies. I know who supports the military and who doesn't. I see it every day.

The rest of the military does as well.

I don't know what to make of this

Security Investigations

So, I have to redo my security investigation to keep my clearance. Is Sandy Bergler in jail yet? I mean, I was filling out the paperwork tonight, and that popped into my head. I damn near have to submit to a body cavity search just to get a Classified clearance, and yet that sack of shit stole and destroyed CODE WORD DOCUMENTS, and he's sitting fat and happy in his own house.

What a crock of shit. I'll tell you what, the fact that he's a Clintoon crony is enough to ensure that I'll never vote for either of them. Hell, given the chance I won't have a thing to do with them except voting against them. The Clintoons are like herpes - once you have 'em, there's nothing you can do to get rid of them. Only instead of giving you a cold sore, they destroy your economy, tax you to death, steal your firearms and completely wreck the military.

Come to think of it, I'd take cold sores over the Clintoons any day of the week.

Robert Alan Soloway is accused of using networks of compromised "zombie" computers to send out millions upon millions of spam e-mails.

"He's one of the top 10 spammers in the world," said Tim Cranton, a Microsoft Corp. lawyer who is senior director of the company's Worldwide Internet Safety Programs. "He's a huge problem for our customers. This is a very good day."

I say put him in chains at Westlake Center and let anyone who's been bothered by spam take a whack at him with a bamboo cane. When he passes out, wake him up and let people continue. Don't stop until he's nothing more than a bleeding lump of flesh. Then, let the hospital folks have him for a while, right before he's transported to a high-security prison where he'll rot for the rest of his miserable life.

That would set one hell of an example for other spammers, wouldn't it?

Cindy Sheehan, whose soldier son was killed in Iraq three years ago, who used her son's grave as a political soapbox to advance a political agenda he would have never agreed with, said yesterday she was stepping down from her role as the figurehead of the US campaign against the war.

"However, when I started to hold the Democratic party to the same standards that I held the Republican party, support for my cause started to erode, and the 'left' started labelling me with the same slurs that the right used."

On Saturday, in an open letter to Democratic members of Congress, she announced that she was leaving the party because she felt its leaders had failed to change the country's course in Iraq.

Poor momma Moonbat, taking her ball and going home. She was used like a ten-dollar whore by the Democrat American Communist Party, she let her self be used, and she WANTED to be used. And the American Communist Party was more than happy to use her to make President Bush look bad. But once people saw the mentally deranged whack-job in broad daylight, and she became the face of the American Communist Party's anti-war movement, she started making them look bad. And like any cheap whore, she was tossed aside after she was used up.

I don't think I detested this woman this damn much when she first came out. But when she used her son's grave in a photo-op?

I was flat out disgusted. So please, Cindy, go away. It was nice to be able to show the Democrat American Communist Party's agenda by simply pointing at their resident spokesmoonbat, but the world will be a better place when nobody can hear you talk.

Memorial Day

Today is for my Grandfather, who fought in the Navy during WWII. Pacific Campaign.

Today is for my father, who did two tours in Viet Nam.

Today is for my Great-Grandfather, who was a scout for the Army during the American-Indian wars. Although the only knowledge I have of him is second hand, that's still enough. According to my father, my Great-Grandfather was a mean, ornery cuss who wanted things done his way, rightdamnnow.

Now I know where I get that from.

If you see a vet, thank them. If you know a vet, call them up. But never, ever forget what those veterans have done for this country.

Trying something new

Today, I'm going to try my first attempt at baking fresh bread. The Raging Mrs. has her digital camera with her right now, so that means I can't give you a picture of the finished product. But I'll let you know how it turns out, good or bad.

UPDATE: The bread came out OK, although I don't think the dough was stiff enough. The loaves I made sort of flattened out a bit when I baked them, so there was a bit too much moisture in there.

Still, it had a good flavor to it. I'm doing my best to keep the Raging Mrs' sourdough pot going strong. Next time I'll add a bit more flour at the end and that should give me the consistency that I'm looking for.
