Hypocrisy on Display

By the Left. As usual.

Last night, hate-filled liberals on MSNBC attempted to smear Marine Corporal Matt
Sanchez and conservatives who honored him at CPAC for his support of the
military at Columbia University. They gleefully showed photos of Cpl. Sanchez at
the event--including ones I took--in mockery after his gay porn past was outed
by left-wing blogs. They cackled "Semper Fi."

You know what the Left can't stand? That this guy cleaned himself up, and became something other than just another hate-filled Leftoid minion.

This Marine was just another stupid kid fifteen years ago. And? So what? I was another stupid kid fifteen years ago. I'll bet that most of my readers did something they aren't too proud of when they got out of high school. But instead of guzzling Leftist kool-aid, Matt Sanchez turned his life around, joined the Marine Corps, and earned the rank of Corporal, something that 99.99% of Leftists couldn't even think of doing.

He's done more with his life than the majority of Leftists could dream of doing.

Now, I want everyone to think about last week, when the Left demanded the still-warm corpse of Ann Coulter on a silver platter because of her "I can't say faggot" remark. I know, you'll have to suppress the gag reflex, but just think about the howls of outrage that descended from the Ivory Towers. "YOU CAN'T SAY THAT WORD! HATE! HATE! CHIMPYMCHITLERBURTONSMIRKYCHIMPEROR!" The din was damn near deafening, as Leftoid after Leftoid shrieked like hysterical little girls who just found a spider in their pantie drawer.

So what is the first thing they do when they see CPL Sanchez? What is the first accusation out of their slimy, quivering lips?

"OH MY GAWD, HE'S A FAGGOT! BECAUSE OF TEH GAYNESS! GAY PORN! COCKSLAPPING! FAGGOTFAGGOTQUEERFAGGOT! YOU JUST GAVE AN AWARD TO A FAGGOT!"

What a bunch of mindless, soulless zombies. Brainwashed, hypocritical imbeciles regurgitating pre-written talking points at eardrum-blowing decibels in the hopes of distracting people from their own vile hatred and bile. Venom spewing gutterslime, desperately throwing muck in the hopes that anything will stick. You can almost see their spittle-covered computer moniters as they pound their fists into their keyboards and shriek and gibber over the internet. "HOW DARE YOU GIVE AN AWARD TO A FAGGOT!?" They are wailing and gnashing their teeth over this, their bloodshot eyes bulging out, and cheetos covered fingers jabbing hateful letters to the world. Feel the TOLERANCE! Feel the love of DIVERSITY!

They hate him because he's a Marine. They hate him because he exposed their hypocrisy and closed-mindedness at Columbia University. They hate him because he stands up for what he believes.

They hate him because he doesn't toe their oh-so-diverse party line. They hate him because he's a conservative. They hate him because when he was a kid, he did gay prOn and then said "You know what? This is bad, and I'm not going to do it anymore."

They hate him for his patriotism. They hate him for his love of his country. They hate him because that is all the Left can do: Hate. No thoughts, no ideas, no real plans, just pure, unadulterated hatred, mainlined into their veins like heroin from a needle.

And because they hate him, they will use any excuse to tear him down, even if it means digging fifteen years into the past and finding something completely irrelevant to who he is today. And in the process, they expose their hatred to the world.

I cannot begin to define just how sick these brainless Leftoid minions make me. There are no words in the English language to describe how pathetic and twisted the Left is. I hope they choke on their own poison and leave the world to better men and women than they can ever hope to be.

A few thoughts from the road

The Left are complaining about the state of VA health care. Said care is the product of a massive leviathan Federal bureaucracy that is more interested in its own survival than it is in providing services to those whom it is chartered to serve.

Why are the Left complaining when they want to shackle the health care of all Americans to such a bureaucracy?

====

Can Lewis Libby buy Perjury Offsets?

====

How much did the Fitzgerald investigation cost? Does anyone know? Remember when the cost of Ken Starr's investigation was lamented in every related story by the MSM?

====

Remember when Rush Limbaugh got driven out of ESPN for saying some in the media wanted Donovan McNabb to succeed because he is black? Isn't that what's happening with Barack Obama? Does anyone know how Obama's stances on immigration or education or defense or heath care stack up against those of, say, Governor Richardson?

No one knows.

But Leftists are openly rooting for Obama.

Any doubt as to why that is?

Personal Redemption for HP?

So, so you all know my computer was on the fritz again. So we called HP, again, and let them know what was going on.

There's a new person working on cases now. After reviewing the history of my computer, this woman decided that they would just replace the computer.

So I'm getting a new laptop. The only downside is that it has Windoze Vista on it, something I wanted to try to avoid for as long as possible.

Ah well. Once the computer gets here, I'll be giving you all a report on Vista. Until then, here's a "Thank You" to HP for getting me up and running again.

Yannow...

For a group of people who hate women, they sure seem to dress up like women quite a bit.

KABUL, Afghanistan — Afghan soldiers caught a senior Taliban commander at a checkpoint who was wearing a burqa, while NATO forces on Wednesday fought Taliban militants in the second day of the alliance's largest-ever offensive in Afghanistan.

Mullah Mahmood, who is accused of helping the Taliban detonate homicide bombs, was caught Tuesday in Kandahar province while wearing the all-encompassing Islamic veil worn here by women, NATO said.

I'm sure a psychologist would have a field day with this guy. But in the meantime, we'll just keep piling up victories in the War on Terror(ism), and the Left will keep ignoring them.

Stupid quote of the day

Dems Call Walter Reed Scandal 'Katrina of 2007'

The pure political partisanship on display by the Democrats American Communist Party would shame anyone with half a brain and a sense of moral decency. But since the Democrats American Communist Party has neither, we won't be seeing anything but the kind of slimy, bile-filled politics for another year or two.

If they had any balls whatsoever, the Democrats American Communist Party would vote to cut off funding for the war, as they've threatened to do. But they don't have any balls. They have no real convictions other than "BUSH BAD!". And they have no real plan other than blaming the President for everything under the sun. They're a joke. A fraud.

Just in case you don't know, the people in charge of funding the VA is none other than Congress. Who controls Congress right now? The Democrats American Communist Party. THEY could quickly make changes to VA funding. But they won't, because they don't care about the troops, unless they can use us to get elected. They don't care about the troops, unless they can use us to hurt the President or conservatives. They don't care about the troops, until it's election time and they have to put on an act and get a few photo ops with us.

By the way, notice how the people shrieking the loudest about the VA system are the same people pushing for government healthcare? Gee. What a shock. They rail against an example of government funded healthcare, yet push for everyone in the states to be under that system. Proving again that their faux concern for the troop's health is nothing but a sham.

Scooter Libby convicted

Of Perjury.

And the Left went nuts.

See, now that it's an aide to the VP, perjury is a big deal. But when it was a certain President who committed perjury? They couldn't be bothered.

What schmucks.

Guess what's coming out this week?

Are you an active duty military member?

Do you know anyone who is? Because, as I suggested in my post below, joining one of the pro-2nd Amendment organizations is a good way of making your voice heard.

And the NRA is giving away free one year memberships to active duty military members.

If you're active duty military, you have no excuse for joining at least ONE of the groups who are fighting to keep the 2nd Amendment alive.

For those of you with blogs of your own, please pass this information along. It's a way to get your voice heard.

Found at Kim du Toit's forums.

Holy Moly

I don't know how to describe the Leftists who seem to swarm to the Riehl World View. On darn near every post's comment section, you have perfect examples of venomous stupidity inbred with an aversion to facts and logic. On any post that goes against the religion of global warming, they come out in numbers, screeching and flinging poo. I don't know how the host puts up with it.

Ah well. At least having them in one area makes them easier to shoot down.

The Messiah, Liah?

Random Thoughts

OK, this whole Ann Coulter affair, where she called, or didn't call but made references to John "Silky Pony" Edwards and "faggot". The left is up in arms.

Yawn.

Seriously guys, when is the Left not up in arms? Just because Coulter gave them one more reason to froth at the mouth and howl at the moon doesn't mean they wouldn't be doing all that in her absence. Of course, Bill Mahr saying that it was a shame Cheney wasn't assassinated doesn't even merit a "Meh!" from the Left, but that's par for the course. Just remember, in the moral relativism that is the Leftist universe, nothing they do can be bad, and nothing we do can be good. It's the same reason that they say nothing about the (very) improved lives of women in Afghanistan. Because to admit that women going to school, women serving in government, women not being whipped to death for appearing in public with someone other than a male relative is a good thing would mean that the Left would be forced to admit that the invasion of Afghanistan produced positive results.

And the Left will never admit that, no matter how true it is. Remember, when you live in your own little Make-Believe world as the Left does (where dictators are fluffy bunnies and communism works all the time), then you never have to see anything real. That's why facts have so little effect on the Left. Because they never let facts enter their carefully created fabricated lives.

CPAC. This big, conservative rally. Lottsa bloggers dere, so I've been told.

Yawn.

It's March of 2007, folks. We are more than a year away from the next election. Other than one big "YAY FOR US!" and a lot of speeches, what was the purpose of this, exactly? So that Romney and Guliani can polish a few apples and set themselves up? You know who I want to see run? Duncan Hunter. The only conservative that I've seen so far. Does anyone think that Guliani will help protect gun rights? I sure don't. Romney? Maybe, but I can't be sure. Is this how far the Republicans have fallen? Having electiongasms over a couple of faux-conservatives?

Gawd help us all.

The new gutting of the 2nd Amendment to come out of Congress. HR 1022. The bill to ban all scawwy looking bwack wifles, and any other bullet launcher the gummint doesn't want us plebes to have in our hands.

Now, this gets my blood boiling.

Since I currently live in a Gun Fearing Wussy island, and I can't buy any guns here without massive amounts of cash for all the damn permits, plus a body-cavity search, I'm begging all of you to go look at what the government wants to outlaw, and then GO BUY A GUN JUST LIKE IT! Buy all the scary looking black rifles that you can. Go buy thirty, forty, fifty round clips. Hell, go buy a few 75 round drums for an AK-47, JUST BECAUSE.

And if you can't do that, then click on any of the links below. They will direct you to the "Join/Sign-up" pages for the respective organization. Most if not all of the one year memberships in these organizations are under $100.

National Rifle Association

2nd Amendment Foundation

Gun Owners of America

Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (You don't need to be Jewish, just in case you're wondering)

Kim du Toit recently wrote that our government can be effected by four boxes - Soap, Ballot, Jury, and Ammo, in that order. Consider joining one of those organizations your own personal soapbox, but when you have millions of people all on the same box, then that's one really big voice.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Got the computer back a while ago. Seemed to be working just fine. Hell, I even played a CD in it two nights ago while I surfed the web.

Started it up today. Guess what the computer will not recognize? The CD-Rom drive.

I am never, EVER buying a Compaq or HP machine again.

Oh, YEEEEAH!

You know, as much as I bitch about Puerto Rico (and let's be blunt, there's plenty to bitch about. Third-world healthcare, crap all over the streets, assholes on every road) there are still advantages to living down here. They're few and far between, but they are there. This is one of them. It's what, March third? You all enjoying your snow?

Yeah. I bet you are.

Just so you all know, that's me, today, with a cigar and a beer, at the beach.

Uh huh. Yep. Yessir.

Ok, yeah, that's not the best shirt for me to be wearing. It looks like I'm wearing a tent. Fine, granted. But I'm at THE BEACH, BEEYACHES! So I don't care how I look, because five minutes after this picture was taken I had the shirt off and I was in the water! HA!

Alright, so I'm still not thrilled to be here, and once summer comes I'll once again be sweating my ass off. But I'm going to enjoy the benefits of living here as much as I can.

Just so ya know

When I spoke of the beach in the post below, this is what I meant:

Sand, sun, palm trees and beer.

Ahhhhh, the beach.

It's a beautiful day

What shall I do today? Mow the lawn? Well, it does need to be mowed.

Trim and edge the bushes? That needs to happen as well.

Change the oil on my truck? It's about 100 miles overdue, needs some TLC.

Make sausage? We've got the pork sitting in the fridge, waiting for us to chop it up and spice it.

Clean the house? Lord knows it needs it.

Maybe I'll just pick two of the things from the list above and try to get them done. That might work.

But you know what? It's a sunny day. I'm in Puerto Rico. So fuck it, I'm getting some beer and going to the beach. I'll see you all later.

John McCain

Should be toast right about now.

Republican presidential contender John McCain, a staunch backer of the Iraq war
but critic of how President Bush has waged it, said U.S. lives had been "wasted"
in the four-year-old conflict. Democrats demand the Arizona senator apologize
for the comment as Sen. Barack Obama did when the Democratic White House hopeful recently made the same observation.

"Americans are very frustrated, and they have every right to be," McCain said Wednesday on CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman." "We've wasted a lot of our most precious treasure, which is American lives."

Look, I was never going to vote for McCain to begin with. And I can give you my reason in two words: McCain-Feingold. After that gutting of the 1st Amendment, there was no way I was going to vote him into office any higher than "Dog Catcher".

But this crap just confirmed any suspicions I had about him. They guy is a political opportunist. He's not a "maverick", he's just another wet-fingered politician trying to see what votes he can buy.

So, Senator McCain, here's my response to your presidential campaign: Piss Off.

OOO! OOO! OOOOOO!

I WANT ONE!

The London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat reports that Israel will supply the U.S. Marines in Iraq with specially equipped armored “Golan” vehicles which are specifically suited for urban warfare and can sustain attacks by RPGs and road mines.

Especially when the Humvees that the US military is using were never intended for urban combat. Hell, they really weren't intended for combat at all, but rather for the many different jobs that the military does in and around a combat zone. So they were designed to take a hit or two, but not the up-close and nasty stuff they're dealing with now.

So while the Democrats American Communist Party whines and seeths about up-armored Humvees (which they know nothing about and only use for political purposes, since the Democrats American Communist Party doesn't care about the military and would happily bleed every soldier dry if they could use the soldier's blood to get elected) what the military truly needs is a new vehicle designed for urban combat. THAT would save more lives than any new armor.

Of course, that would cost money, and the Democrat American Communist Party's faux concern for the troops only goes so far, and certainly doesn't extend to actually, yannow, SUPPORTING the troops or any real action that would save lives.

Found at SondraK's place.

Reader AC sent me this link

To this petition.

The attempt to renew and augment the expired federal "assault weapons ban", HR
1022, will not be tolerated.

Simple, direct, and to the point. Phil from Random Nuclear Strikes also wants to remind you to write your congresscritter pronto.

We need to send a very simple message. You do NOT mess with the 2nd Amendment. It really is that simple.

This guy is unbelievable

So Dave we're on the new Blogger

Like it or not.

The Mind Boggles

Let me see if I can wrap my brain around this - are you telling me that "Global Warming" screechmongers who advocate radical lifestyle changes to save the globe for "THE CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILREN!" are nothing more than rank hypocrites who lie incessantly and don't practice what they preach?

I'm stunned! STUNNED, I tell you! Shocked, even!

UPDATE: When realities collide! Check out this piece by some guy named Rob Sullivan:

The 4,000-square-foot house is a model of environmental rectitude.

Geothermal heat pumps located in a central closet circulate water through pipes buried 300 feet deep in the ground where the temperature is a constant 67 degrees; the water heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. Systems such as the one in this "eco-friendly" dwelling use about 25% of the electricity that traditional heating and cooling systems utilize.

A 25,000-gallon underground cistern collects rainwater gathered from roof runs; wastewater from sinks, toilets and showers goes into underground purifying tanks and is also funneled into the cistern. The water from the cistern is used to irrigate the landscaping surrounding the four-bedroom home. Plants and flowers native to the high prairie area blend the structure into the surrounding ecosystem.

No, this is not the home of some eccentrically wealthy eco-freak trying to shame his fellow citizens into following the pristineness of his self-righteous example. And no, it is not the wilderness retreat of the Sierra Club or the Natural Resources Defense Council, a haven where tree-huggers plot political strategy.

This is President George W. Bush's "Texas White House" outside the small town of Crawford.

Sullivan then digs deep to find things to whip the President with, and falls victim to the most common problem you can find with Leftists - the kool-aid guzzling doesn't help them do research of think on their own, they can only regurgitate DNC talking points.

Yes, the same George W. who believes arsenic and drinking water might not be such a bad combo, the same man who reneged on his campaign promise to lower carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, the same man who is doing everything in his power to fling open the Alaskan Natural Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling.

Memo to Sullivan: Arsenic occurs naturally. I know that getting your memes straight from the Democrats American Communist Party is handy if you're in a rush, but perhaps you may want to back up and rethink your position a bit.

What George W. Bush did was veto legislation that would have made drinking water standards so damn stringent that the naturally occuring arsenic, which in no way reached dangerous levels, would have forced rural communities to build million-dollar water treament plants that they flat out couldn't afford. I know that in the simplistic, empty-headed, "Bush-bad-Clinton-good" world that most Leftists live in, thinking really isn't required, but us adults would appreciate it if you would give it a try once in a while.

Second - Air Pollution Levels are better under Bush than they were under Clinton. Look it up. I won't give Bush any credit for this, however, because the changes that occurred did so due to market forces. Blaming either president for the condition of the air when they were in office would be moronic at this point. But if you're going to make political points about the President's control over air quality, having facts on your side might just be a good place to start. Too bad you failed on that.

Third - the ANWR argument has been hashed out, re-hashed, flogged, beaten, killed, then flogged some more. You don't want to hear about the flourishing herds of Caribou near the Alaskan Pipeline. You don't want to actually LOOK AT THE PLACE THEY WANT TO DRILL AT, you don't want to hear about the technology that's involved. No, you eco-freaks just want to halt all human expansion, which might not be a bad thing if you assholes weren't so flat out hypcritical about it. Here's a clue - the area they want to drill in is, to put it lightly, an arctic swamp, filled with mud, crap, and biting insects. And it's one tiny little section that they want to poke around in. Yet the Leftists howl like Bush wants to clearcut the entire refuge and enslave the caribou to transport all the little brown children that Cheney enslaved when Haliburton went into Iraq. It's idiocy. And by the way, every day we DON'T drill in ANWR is another day we pay money to theocrats who want to kill us. Thanks, Liberals!

How does the President reconcile an eco-friendly abode for his own family with his persistent stand against anything that smacks of an environmentally friendly agenda for the nation as a whole? The answer to that perplexing question is a real mystery.

Maybe because since he actually practices ecologically friendly methods, he knows what works, as opposed to the Marxist pipedreams of Watermelon eco-freaks from the Left?

Perhaps sound ecological practices are only for those who can afford them: as a self-proclaimed strict constructionist of the U.S. Constitution, Bush must be aware that clean air and clean water are not guaranteed in that glorious document. Perhaps in Bush's Brave New Corporate World, clean natural resources are merely commodities in a free-market economy: if you can pay for them, fine; if not, tough. The rest of us will just have to put up with more toxic dumps and more public lands being turned over to logging, mining and oil companies.

There's so much wrong in one paragraph that I can't even think about where to begin. This Sullivan character didn't just drink the kool-aid, he had it put into an enema bag and shot up his ass until the pure flow of poisonous bullshit reached his brain and stunned it into a permanent coma. At least, that's the only explination I can give for why somebody would write such a pathetically wretched piece of propaganda-like garbage such as this. I suppose this Sullivan would be just fine with other countries stripmining their resources so long as he doesn't have to look at it and he still gets all the things that he wants. I'll bet this arrogant bastard drives a car (EVIL OIL CONSUMER!), reads magazines and newspapers (EVIL KILLER OF INNOCENT TREES!) and gets his water from a faucet somewhere (EVIL METAL USER! MINE ENABLER!)

Again, these people are Watermelons. Oh, they're green on the outside, but the inside is pure red, folks. Marxism at it's best. The Ecological movement is less about the ecology and damn near all about control - the control these supposedly enlightened people want to have over our lives.

If someone wants to fisk the entire piece for me, I'll post it. As it is, I've got other things to do, and I'm late in getting them done.

Another Assault on Christianity

Yay. Supposedly, Hollywierd director James Cameron says "WE FOUND THE TOMB OF JESUS!" Cause see, if Jesus was buried, then he couldn't have been resurrected, and all us godbags and yokels have been wasting our lives. Us hayseeds and small minded hillbillies.

Whatever. There are so many problems with this farce right on it's face that I have no interest whatsoever in watching it or hearing about it. So as to deal with this as objectively as possible, I'll even show how the crockumentary is wrong without invoking any religious theories. Of course, I doubt that will satisfy the anti-religionists who seek to destroy any and all mention of God, Christ, Jesus, or redemption in America, but I'll do it anyway.

First, history records that after the crucifixion of Jesus, Mary left Jerusalem and ended her days somewhere else. It's simple logic that they would not carry Mary's body hundreds of miles back to Jerusalem to put it in a tomb. She wasn't rich. She wasn't a high government official or priest. She was the wife of a carpenter. She died away from Jerusalem, and would have been buried close to where she died.

That's problem number one.

Joseph would not have been buried in Jerusalem either. He was from Nazareth, and he was a carpenter. Burying Joseph in an tomb in Jerusalem makes as much sense as Farmer Smith from Kansas being taken to New York City and buried. Second in this is that after Jesus reached adulthood, almost all mention of Joseph ends. Only Mary and an apostle were recorded as being present during the crucifixion. It's quite possible that Joseph was an older man, and died before the period of Jesus' life that attracted so much attention, and thus would have not accompanied either Jesus or Mary to Jerusalem. In any case, the chances of Joseph being buried in Jerusalem are slim to none.

That's problem number two.

During the early days of the Catholic Church, Catholics were hunted down and persecuted all over the Roman Empire. They were beaten, tortured, fed to lions in the coliseum, and hounded for over three centuries. Early churches were known to hold Mass in crypts in order to avoid being detected and arrested. Christianity at that time was in essence outlawed, and the Romans did everything they could to banish the religion from existance.

Knowing that, and also knowing that the Romans controlled that area of the Middle East, if Jesus was buried in plain sight with his family, why didn't the Romans unearth him and say "See? Your religion is founded on falsehoods"? As Captain Ed states:

Jesus was a well-known agitator whose crucifixion creates a cult following, in the eyes of the Romans and the leading Jews of the time. The basis of that cult formed around the notion that Jesus rose from the dead. If the Romans knew where his body was buried, why then did they not produce it as proof of his immutable death? In order to be placed in an ossuary, he would have to lie in the tomb for a year, decomposing to skeletal remains. During that time, the Romans could easily have produced the body -- or the cult followers could have stolen it and buried it elsewhere to prevent it.

That's problem number three.

And last but not least, when Cameron and his crew are unearthing caskets and exclaiming "LOOK! LOOK! IT SAYS 'JESUS' ON IT! AND LOOK! THAT SAYS 'MARY'!" I want you to keep one thing in mind. The name we use today, "Jesus", is not the real name that Jesus was known by. The closest approximation would be "Jeshua", or "Joshua" in modern lingo. The same with Mary and Joseph. Those names were translated from Aramaic, to Greek, to Latin, to German, to English, and they've changed a little bit each time. So when someone pulls out a box labeled "Jesus" and says that it's the coffin of Jesus, see right there, it's got his name on it and everything, the only response I have is outright laughter.

That's problem number four.

So, four major points of contention, without using religious dogma as points of arguments. If you still think that this crockumentary holds water, then I submit that your believe that Christianity is false is in fact your own personal religious belief, and requires as much faith, if not more, than my own religious beliefs.

If someone with more knowledge of Catholic history would like to correct any points I've made regarding church history (Perhaps the Anchoress or Mr. Poretto?) either leave a comment or email me.

I tried to post yesterday

And I kept getting a wierd error message. Not even a 404 type thing.

Ah well. Mebbee it's the intartube thingy down here in the tropics.

Anyways, the TV is now empty. As I've mentioned before, we got tired of paying money every month when they removed the channels that I watch, run infomercials all morning, and reruns every night.

I'm paying good money for that crap? I don't THEENK so, Lucy! So we are now a cable-less household. And I'm not signing up for jack down here.

Ain't gonna do it. I'll spend the money on a higher speed internet connection.

The Left's version of "Free Speech"

Doesn't include any speech that they disagree with. In fine Leftist tradition, they moonbats and screeching retards are doing their best to ensure that stories and posts from Little Green Footballs do not make the front page at Digg. LGF has a link up to something called "Digg Spy", where you can watch in real time as the Leftoid minions franticly push the "bury" button as often as possible on stories they don't like. Sometimes it's outright funny. A news story labeled as "spam"? Yeah, right.

I've been looking at it for about three minutes. In that time, I've seen mass burying of stories from LGF, Michelle Malkin, some website called "foehammer", and now www.debbieschlussel.com. They seem to go searching for a specific site, then bury as many stories from that site as they can, then move to the next site and repeat the process.

It's amazing what you can do with your day when you're nothing but a brainless Leftist (redundancy alert) who doesn't have a job (redundancy alert again).

Oscars

So, I heard that algore won an Oscar last night for his Crockumentary about "Global Warming".

And yes, I'm putting scare quotes around "Global Warming" from now on. Man made global warming is pure horseshit. Come talk to me when they're growing grapes in Greenland, as they were able to do when Eric the Red first landed there. THEN we'll talk. Until then, all "Global Warming" proponents will be laught and pointed at.

Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah. algore and his Oscar. I didn't watch the show last night, and I'm glad that I didn't. They've been nothing but pure partisan politics for years, as highlighted by The Fat Fuck from Flint getting an Oscar for HIS Crockumentary years ago, the various hardware tooled out to movies who's plot sucked, ticket recipts bombed, but they followed the proper political thought. It's all crap. It's a group of idiots masturbating furiously while damn near breaking their arms patting themselves on the back for being so "progressive". One big narcissistic orgy of mindless groupthink by people who haven't had one serious thought in the past forty years.

I don't go out to movies very much. But one thing that has held true for a while is that if a movie wins an Oscar, there's a 99% chance that I'll avoid it like the plague. The one exception in recent years was "Lord of the Rings". Other than that? Feh. The less money I fork over to the babbling throng of brainless fuckwits, the better.

Piss on Hollywood. The city, the business, and most of the people who live there.

Hash House Harriers

Went to a party on Saturday. Kind of a "Gathering of Gringos" thing, although there were plenty of Puerto Ricans there as well.

Got a loose invitation to this club. It's either a running club with a drinking problem, or a drinking club with a running problem, however you want to put it.

I'm so there!

Add-on to the Tie-in

OK, so Friday I spoke about my high school experience. And after reading it a few times over, I realized that people could take the post as if I was bragging about what I did in high school. Kinda like, "Oh yeah Dave, you thought you were a badass, didn't you?"

That's not the point I was trying to make. Let me expound a bit in this post, since the other post is quite long enough for my taste.

As I explained, I learned most of my violent behavior as a defense mechanism in high school. Kick enough ass, and people leave you alone. The problem with that is once you graduate and move into the real world, the people you meet are nothing like the idiots, assholes and predators in high school. Once I graduated, I went out into the world and found myself at a severe disadvantage to everyone else. While most people had eventually learned to deal with difficulty or a problem by acting logically, I had learned to deal with any problem with violence. And it took me YEARS to unlearn the lessons I had picked up. For years, I was damn near un-promotable. Who wants to promote a raving lunatic with a violence fetish? My work would be fine. I could handle responsibility. What I could not do at that time was learn to respond to hostility with anything other than overwhelming violence. When someone calls you a dirty name, you do NOT whip out the biggest gun you have and blow them to Kingdom Come. But that's what I was doing, metaphorically speaking.

And I'm still trying to unlearn those lessons, well over a decade since I left that particular jungle. It's taken years and the patience of God only knows how many people to bring me to the point where I don't jump up and pound someone for looking at me wrong. It's hurt my professional life in the past. It's hurt my personal life. And it's something that I struggle with to this very day. I thank God for the day that my wife decided she could put up with my bullshit, because she's the most calming influence in my life, and for some reason she was silly enough to say "I Do". But even she will tell you that I have a horrendous temper, and there has been plenty of times where she's looked at me with exasperation because I've gone off half-cocked and done something stupid.

I often think to myself what my life would have been like if I hadn't been forced into that school. My first years were in a Catholic school, and I excelled. But once I got into a public school after my father retired from the military, things just went downhill. It was hell. Here's something I've told my folks that they just don't get:

I hated school. I flat out hated it. I would never go back. I didn't go back for any reunions. I probably never will, unless it's to go laugh at the people who made my life a living hell for four years. And next to the day I got married, the happiest day in my life was when I graduated and knew that I would never be forced into that building against my will EVER AGAIN.

I understand the reasoning of students who went on a shooting spree at Columbine. Is that a horrible thing to say? Perhaps. But I understand why they did what they did, even while I cannot excuse it. At some point, humans will break. They can only deal with so much. So much harassment, so much being picked on, so much being beaten. In the real world, should someone try to beat you down, you have several options. You have no real options in high school, where moral equivalency and the rot of the NEA have made it impossible to deal with abusers and predators without being punished yourself. In a workplace, you can say "I quit!". In public, you can walk away. But you can't run from someone when they know where you have to be and when you have to be there. It's like tossing a snake into a cage of mice and telling the mice "Now, find a way to deal with the snake!"

It will not work.

It doesn't work. It's failing. It's failing our students, it's failing the parents to mistakenly believe that public school is doing some good, and it's failing the public at large by turning out people who cannot deal with the real world once they graduate. You cannot learn when you have to be concerned about protecting yourself for twelve hours. When it's fight or flight, you don't have time to deal with algebra, OK?

I consider my high school experience to be a detriment to my life, not a boon. And I daresay that many people will agree with me. I applaud the du Toit's for homeschooling their kids, because that is what will give those kids the best chance at making a decent life for themselves. And I honestly wish that my parents had done the same thing.

Gonna be a busy day

Got back that money that the government takes from you all year long. Need new mattresses. Need some plants for the yard. Paid off one of our debts, which gives our monthly budget just a little more wiggle room. We can now afford to buy things like shoes. HA! I kid! We can only get new shoelaces!

No, seriously, we need new mattresses for our bed. So we'll be off and running around today, getting things that we've been holding off buying for a while. We're also looking at purchasing an embroidery machine so that the wife can make some money on the side with various projects. Getting rid of that debt account was a big step as well.

Just a little advice - if you want to die rich, the very first thing you need to do is get out of debt. Period. Pay off your credit cards. Get rid of your loans. Once you're not paying hundreds of dollars a month just to pay back your creditors, you'll be amazed at how much extra money you have. While the Mrs. and I are still paying off our mistakes from when we lived in Seattle, this was a big first step. And as I said, it'll give our monthly budget some breathing room, as well as allow us to pay off our other debts quicker. I wanted to be debt free by the time I left this duty station, but that's not going to happen. I will be in a much better position, however, and that's worth quite a bit of money in the future.

So, till later, toodles!

Can Jim Zumbo be saved?

Cap'n Jim thinks so. And like anything Jim writes, I strongly suggest you go read it.

It is not too late for Mr. Zumbo to see the light which is indeed, the Black Rifle. It it not too late for Mr. Zumbo to do good for our cause.

It is better....far better, that we reclaim him and help him to redeem himself to a (albiet grudgingly) eventually forgiving community of arms, rather than for us to stack up our straw and wood under his pyre, and torch him though he has recanted..... (or is learning his recantation, however slowly.) I'm not deluded so as to think that Mr. Zumbo will fully grasp the weight of his betrayal in a few days, or even weeks.

But, in a year's time, and with a year's effort, I also have no doubt that he can become one of our loudest, most articulate and most effective voices. As such, I'd (re)welcome him (guardedly?) into the fold.

Not only is revenge a dish best served cold.... but the fact remains;

Success is the best revenge!

Come to the Dark Side, Jim.

It's in my head

And if you click this link, it may just stick in yours.

Sometimes, an artist will hit all the right notes. Something so wonderfully simple, yet a masterpiece. It's a rare thing. And sometimes it'll go all but un-noticed. Sometimes, it's just a little 30 second snippet in a commercial, like this one is.

But that doesn't make it any less.... well, perfect. I have CD's that I bought just because of one song that managed to get everything right at the right time. This might be another one of those.

HELP THOSE WHO HAVE GIVE TO THOSE WHO ARE

This was forwarded to me by a very reliable source, please forward to those who might like to help the cause.

This year I challenged my American Legion Riders group to pass the hat and collect enough money to purchase one portable DVD player monthly to be shipped to someone serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. I am pleased to report that our little band of black leather rogues has already purchased two, and we are well on our way to the third. At our first meeting this month, one of our members brought in a whole box of DVD's that he had and was willing to pass them along. He is a VN vet (Army Special Forces) who knows the impact of receiving something from home.
As previous co-workers, I am putting the bite on you to assist us in this most worthy cause. I have seen the responses from kids in the sandbox expressing their gratitude for giving them a line back to the land of the big PX. Getting a gift from a stranger wishing them well and God Speed is a real pick-me-up to these kids. Seeing a movies, watching a music DVD and hearing the album is a real moral booster to them. We may not all support the war, but we ALL need to support the young men and women serving there.
I costs about $125 each for the DVD player, some DVD's and shipping. Not a lot of money when you consider other things on which you can spend your money. But, I do not need $125 from each of you (though I certainly would accept it); a five, ten or twenty adds up to help us reach our goal. I want to exceed that goal and ship multiple portable DVD players out each month. So our group of about thirty riders needs help to get to that level. As they say in network marketing, get five people who each get five people and soon you have a real organization. So if you have friends or relatives who might like to help, let them know about this also.
We are the American Legion Riders of American Legion Post 40, Chino Valley AZ. We are registered as a 501.C3 non-profit organization. If you work for someone or know someone with a business who might make a large donation, but who needs a receipt for tax purposes, we can accommodate that request.

Tie-ins

Kim du Toit had a post up the other day that tied in with Alger's post about public school.

Let me preface this little post with the statement that I cannot, at this point, understand why public schooling still exists. I cannot stand public schools, period. I think they do more damage to the youth in this country than we know at this point, and the damage is going to REALLY be clear in a few decades.

In any case, Kim du Toit and Mrs. du Toit homeschool their kids. Now, I know that not everyone can homeschool, but one of the reasons given by the du Toit's was something I wanted to add on to:

When we talk to people about homeschooling our kids, and are asked what we did about "socialization", our answer is dismissive. Here's the gist of it.

1. We were never interested in having our kids learning to socialize from a group of peers who were as clueless about the process as they themselves were. High school kids, unsupervised, are the most feral little beasts on the planet, and we saw no reason why we should subject our kids to that ordeal. The most common response to that statement was usually, "It makes them tougher" or "They learn how to cope with a hostile environment, like they may encounter in the adult world".

Specious nonsense. In the outside world, when you are immersed in a "hostile environment" (work, university, whatever), you have the means to leave it. That's not the case in high school, where you are coerced into staying together with no options to separate yourself from your tormentors.

Socialization in high school is more like learning how to survive in the jungle without getting eaten or stepped on. One thing that amazes me is how people can send their precious darlings off to a building filled with people I wouldn't allow into my house for the majority of the day, and then they wonder just where their little sugarbuns learned how to swear, or when he started smoking, or doing drugs. "But, but, but, I'm a good parent!" Yes, you are, WHEN YOUR CHILD IS AROUND TO LEARN FROM YOU. Trust me on this, I observed it way too much when I was in high school. You could be the best parent in the world, and I've met many parents who WERE good parents. But when you send your child to public school, you might see them for four or five hours a day, AT THE MOST. Meanwhile, they're spending eight to twelve hours a day surrounded by the very type of people you want them to stay away from.

My family is not a violent family in the least. My father never yelled at me. That might surprise some people, but it's true. He never once blasted me with a yelling rant. I was never beaten as a child. I was never abused as a child. As far as my home life went, it was damn near fairy-tale perfect, and I couldn't have asked for better.

So the people who know me are now asking, "So Dave, where did your temper come from? If your family was so great, why are YOU prone to flipping your lid and destroying things?"

The answer to that is simple: It's what I learned to do in order to survive high school.

Physically, I was a late bloomer. I weigh 205 right now, have a 44 inch chest, with 15% body fat. Back in high school I weighed, at the most, 165-170. And I was skinny. Did some wrestling, but other than that was never all that athletic. I was more into music than football. I hated the social circles in high school, and I avoided them as much as I could. Even back then, I didn't want to be categorized by who I hung out with. And when you're able to step back and look at situations from a distance, you can get a feel for the overall picture.

In school, I learned that smoking pot made you a dumb reject, unless you were rich or hung out with rich kids, in which case smoking pot made you cool.

I learned that drinking was bad, unless you hung out with the jocks and drank with THEM, in which case it was cool.

In high school, I learned that intelligence was a BAD thing and should be discouraged, unless you hung out with the right people, and then it was cool.

And more importantly, in high school I learned that violence will trump reasoned arguments. All the reasoned debate in the world will not stop a bully who knows he can make your life a living hell and get away with it. He doesn't care about anything but making himself feel big and important. Just ask your stereotypical nerd how reasoning and logic fare against a bully. In the school yard, might makes right. It wasn't that I couldn't argue, or debate, or talk a situation down, it was that words did not work. I was not dealing with someone who had a different point of view, I was dealing with people who got excited by the use of force against someone they thought of as "weak".

Believe it or not, I didn't get into one fight in high school, because I would use violence as soon as I saw a threat. Oh, I hit people, but it was never a "fight" as you might think of it. I learned early on that when someone pushes you, you don't just push back, you jump onto their back, or their chest, and start screaming while you hit them as fast and hard as you can. Nobody wanted to fight me, because while they might think that I was a skinny little band geek, they didn't know what I would do if I got pushed. I was the Psycho in my school. My buddies Alex and Jake were the Animal and the Immovable Object, in that order. Alex was the guy who would pound you into a pulp if you crossed him, and Jake was so damn big that all he had to do was push you into a wall and lean on you, and you hurt for a week. And he was too big for you to push back. You might as well pound your fists against a wall.

Together, our trio formed an Axis of Don't-Fuck-With-Us. And it worked, where every other method failed. We didn't care what group you belonged to, we weren't a part of any social circle. We just wanted to be left alone, and if you didn't leave us alone, we would make you very, very sorry that you hadn't minded your own business. Might made right. That alone might not have imprinted on me that violence worked where talk failed. But what really proved that violence deterred violence the way people in school dealt with us. Let me give you an example.

Of the many incidents that occurred in school on a daily basis, there's one that I think highlights the feral nature of teen-agers. There was, at one point, a verbal altercation between one of the Jocks and one of the Stoners. Most people might have just brushed it off as "The other guy is an asshole" and carried on with their lives. But the Jock, who was an asshole from way back, decided that he had been "disrespected", and was going to exact some revenge. So the Jock, with two of his buddies, hunted down the Stoner later that day and beat the holy hell out of him.

I'm not talking a fight out back after school. They cornered him in the middle of the common area in the school and beat him so badly that was in the hospital for days. Cracked ribs. A broken eye socket (can't remember the name of that bone that surrounds your eye, but it was broken in several places). Contusions, bruises, broken bones, you name it, it happened. Now, what do you think happened to these punks? Did they get expelled? Arrested?

Nope. They were suspended for ten days. TEN DAYS. And when I graduated, the family of the kid who was beaten was STILL trying to sue for money to pay the hospital bills incurred as a result of the beating. These thugs put a kid in the hospital, and got nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

At that point, you could see two three distinct groups forming in the school. The aggressors, the victims, and the undisturbed. The aggressors, knowing that if they beat someone they wouldn't get punished, actively went on the hunt. It was like all the petty complaints they had, either real or imagined, could now be physically answered, and they were gonna lay a smackdown. The victims were the kids who couldn't fight back, for whatever reason. The undisturbed were the people who for whatever reason were left alone. Maybe they were the "popular" kids, maybe they just hadn't flown onto the radar. Whatever. The point is that for a period of time, it was damn near a free-for-all, both in and out of school. Kim du Toit calls high schoolers "Feral little beasts". He's more correct than he knows. All the pleading, all the letters to the principal, all the "meetings" between kids and administrators, didn't do one damn thing towards cracking down on the violence that was going on between students. Many times, parents were told "Well, it happened off school grounds, so there's nothing we can do about it." Legally, perhaps that's true. But the victims of this situation would not be dealing with this if they were NOT forced to be tossed into the jungle with the predators on a daily basis. Both the state, and through the state the school, forced kids to be present at that facility, in the presence of these thugs. And the thugs were damn near getting away with murder.

My friends and I, being the Axis of Don't-Fuck-With-Us, were part of the undisturbed group. THAT lesson had been taught a long time ago. However, it got so bad in that school that we started enforcing a new rule. Don't fuck with us, and don't fuck with our friends. We didn't care if you'd run our pal down off of school grounds or in the hallway, we were going to hunt YOU down and show you the error of your ways. If we told you that you were going to feel our pain, we carried that threat out. No empty threats were issued.

And people gravitated to us. Because to be associated with us meant you were left alone. Not because we gave you a stern lecture. Not because we debated your action's impact on society. It was because if you messed with us, we would answer in violence so direct that YOU would become the prey. My friend Alex once had a punk so scared of him that the punk wouldn't leave his house if he thought Alex was outside. And Alex, being the kind of person who loved to play mind games, would go out of his way to be around the punk's house. He would detour there on his way to the store. He woke up early just so that he could take the long way to school, which of course involved walking past the punk's front door. Jake and I would come along for the fun of it. And after Alex was done toying with the punk, he delivered a beating and a lesson. The beating was short, nasty and brutal. The lesson was "If you even look cross-eyed at my pal, you'll never eat solid food again." The lesson took hold.

It wasn't logic that make this punk piss his pants at the sight of us. It was the beating administered to him by Alex. It was violence, and the threat of more violence to come should that punk step out of line again. It wasn't our pleasant demeanor or sense of humor that drew people to our group. It was violence, and the threat of violence directed at the predators in the school that made people run into our private social circle. Alex, Jake and I couldn't turn a corner without running into someone who just wanted to be around us, because so long as they were in our general area they were left alone and unafraid.

The summary of my high school education was this: It's not what you know or do. It's WHO you know or do. Everyone for themself. The Authorities will not help you. You're on your own, so you'd better start swimming before you sink forever. And when in doubt, violence trumps everything else.

Now, if those are the lessons you want your kids to learn, then by all means send your kids to the local high school. But if you want your kids to get an education, go read Alger's post, and Kim's post, and then take a good hard look at where your kids spend the majority of their day.

I got more of an education from my father's bookshelves than I got in most of my high school experience. Short of three very talented, very special teachers, the rest of my high school education could have been done in one year. In fact, if it weren't for those three teachers, I would have dropped out, gotten a GED, and been on my way.

I'll probably edit this post later on, as I smack my forehead and say "Ah crap, I shoulda put that in there!" But until then...

Cooking the books

Over at du Toit's site, there's a link to Climate Audit that shows SOMEONE has been diddling with data in order to reinforce their pet theory.

The effect of the adjustments since 2000 has been to bring the USHCN history more in line with the CRU version. One wonders exactly what adjustments have been performed by CRU and others and the recent admission by Brohan et al 2006 that original versions of many series have been lost (or never even collated by CRU in the first place) leaving only the adjusted versions at CRU (with the nature of some or all of the adjustments undocumented and unknown) is extremely disquieting.

liabilities, taxes owed, and refunds

I have been one of the people who were in favor of getting rid of the IRS and just having a flat percentage income tax. I will even go so far as to say that I think the government rewarding people for having children is ridiculous. I have just finish a VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) course . VITA provides free tax preparation for low income people.
One of the things that struck me was credits, particularly EIC(Earned Income Credit) and CTC(Child Tax Credit). The reason these struck me is that the IRS is using these as a social program, not unlike Welfare and Foodstamps, to help lower income families save and financially better themselves. With this rationale I can support these credits, along with all of the educational credits. The reality is that I would rather see the government trying to help hard-working people get ahead, instead of throwing money willy-nilly at people who think we "OWE THEM A LIVING".

Despite the general feeling of the government not having a clue, they actually have some pretty good ideas
.

I would encourage every taxpayer to take a VITA training, it is invaluable!!!

Profiles in Numbskullery: Andrew Stone

Encounter with one of the Unhinged Masses:

My other roommate called the police while both Matt and I tried to restrain him on the couch, but he kept hitting us. Both of us were yelling at him to leave, but he kept screaming that he wanted to fight us one on one like men, that we're "pussies" for not being in Iraq, and that we're hypocrites. He going crazy. Both of us struck him several times while he was on the couch. We finally dragged him off of the couch and forcibly pushed him out of the door.

Uhhh, loser.

Peace Activists Gone Wild

Busy busy busy

In case you couldn't tell by my unexpected absence. Meh. Anyways, a reader (you know who you are!) was kind enough to send me this link, which had me chuckling.

Pittsburgh police yesterday arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with the death of a drug dealer whose body was cut in half in a bizarre incident in Homewood on Monday morning.

Cut in half? With a chainsaw? A knife?

Nope. A CAR!

Police said he was the driver of a Dodge Neon that sped away from a drug deal on Hamilton Avenue with Mr. Williams hanging partially out of the driver's side window.

When Mr. Williams struck a utility pole, his body was cut in half by the door frame of the car.

Mr. Johnson has been charged with homicide, driving with a suspended license and other traffic offenses.

Witnesses out on the street when the incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. told police that Mr. Johnson tried to drive away without paying for crack cocaine he had just accepted from Mr. Williams.

I don't know why I find that so damn funny. I really don't. It's like a trainwreck that I can't stop looking at.

Meh. I'll keep chuckling to myself.

Nice vacation there, folks!

Here's my question - why in the name of all that's holy would anyone want to vacation in Cuba?

A FAMILY are suing Thomas Cook after their dream trip to Cuba became the holiday from hell.

Elaine Old, 44, claims their luxury hotel made the family sick.
She arrived at the resort only to find dirty beds, her toilet overflowing with human waste and food covered in flies.

Just three days into the four-star luxury break at the Brisas Guardalavaca Hotel, Holguin, Elaine and her family were left ill with a serious stomach bug.

But things turned from bad to worse when their elderly mother, Dorothy, 76, was left needing emergency hospital treatment after she slipped on the wet hotel floor and broke her leg.

Um, DUH! Lemmee give you a clue here, nimrods: IT'S CUBA! A communist shithole that makes port-o-johns in Texas in August seem like the Waldorf-Astoria! But you went on VACATION there?

You were either so ignorant you thought it would be a good idea (which, hopefully, you've been cured of), or you're terminally stupid.

Sheesh. "Hey, where would you like to go on Holiday this year, love?" "Oh, I don't know, let's go to a place where a brutal communist dictator has been destroying his country for years! I'm sure that in a country where everyone is either oppressed or part of the Ruling Party, why, the service must be SUBLIME!"

Found at Val's place, where he's been keeping tabs on fidel for years.

Mugged

in D.C. By reality.

None other than former Mayor Marion Barry, now representing Ward 8 on the D.C. Council, is waving the white flag of surrender by introducing legislation to provide potential victims a limited window of opportunity to arm themselves in self defense. “We are in the midst of a gun-violence epidemic,” Barry said.

Duh. When you force law-abiding citizens to live without being able to protect themselves, the criminals, who don't care one whit about the law to begin with, will prey on everyone else.

It's that simple. Nice to finally see a few Donks wake up and smell the coffee.

But Barry’s bill is a first step and it is co-sponsored by Council members Jim Graham, D-Ward 1, Kwame Brown, D-at large, and Tommy Wells, D-Ward 6 — none of whom are gun-toting NRAers. However, all four councilmen face the same intractable problem in their own neighborhoods: The city’s gun control laws don’t work as advocates promised they would...

(emphasis mine)

I am amazed that after years and years of evidence showing that less guns in private citizen's hands equals more crime, that people would still be so deluded, so retarded, and so moronic to think that if they just outlaw guns, then gun crime will go away like Pure Fucking Magic.

Gun control doesn't work.

Acceleration

My father sent me this email, and I thought it was kind of cool. For all you gearheads out there:

ACCELERATION PUT INTO PERSPECTIVE

* One Top Fuel dragster 500 cubic-inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows at the Daytona 500.

* Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 11.2 gallons of nitro methane per second; a fully loaded 747 consumes jet fuel at the same rate with 25% less energy being produced.

* A stock Dodge Hemi V8 engine cannot produce enough power to merely drive the dragster's supercharger.

* With 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into a near-solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock at full throttle.

* At the stoichiometric 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture for nitro methane the flame front temperature measures 7050 degrees F.

* Nitro methane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen, dissociated from atmospheric water vapor by the searing exhaust gases.

* Dual magnetos supply 44 amps to each spark plug. This is the output of an arc welder in each cylinder.

* Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After 1/2 way, the engine is dieseling from compression plus the glow of exhaust valves at 1400 degrees F. The engine can only be shut down by cutting the fuel flow.

* If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up in the affected cylinders and then explodes with sufficient force to blow cylinder heads off the block in pieces or split the block in half.

* Dragsters reach over 300 MPH before you have completed reading this sentence.

* In order to exceed 300 MPH in 4.5 seconds, dragsters must accelerate an average of over 4 G's. In order to reach 200 MPH well before half-track, the launch acceleration approaches 8 G's.

* Top Fuel engines turn approximately 540 revolutions from light to light!

* Including the burnout, the engine must only survive 900 revolutions under load.

* The redline is actually quite high at 9500 RPM.

* THE BOTTOM LINE: Assuming all the equipment is paid off, the crew worked for free, & for once, NOTHING BLOWS UP, each run costs an estimated $1,000 per second.

The current Top Fuel dragster elapsed time record is 4.441 seconds for the quarter-mile (10/05/03, Tony Schumacher). The top speed record is 333.00 MPH (533 km/h) as measured over the last 66' of the run (09/28/03, Doug Kalitta).

Putting this all into perspective:

You are driving the average $140,000 Lingenfelter twin-turbo powered Corvette Z06. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged & ready to launch down a quarter-mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the 'Vette hard up through the gears and blast across the starting line & pass the dragster at an honest 200 MPH. The 'tree' goes green for both of you at that moment.

The dragster launches & starts after you. You keep your foot down hard, but you hear an incredibly brutal whine that sears your eardrums & within 3 seconds the dragster catches & passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter-mile away from where you just passed him. Think about it - from a standing start, the dragster had spotted you 200 MPH & not only caught, but nearly blasted you off the road when he passed you within a mere 1320 foot long race!

That's acceleration!

Happy President's Day

Do you think that if George Washington were alive today, he would be advocating for another revolution?

Somehow, I do.

I've got a thought brewing...

But right now it's percolating, getting stronger, until I can pull it out and hammer it into something that resembles a coherent thought.

Until then, go read Alger's post about School Bullies, which is related to the thoughts in my head.

Self-Immolation

I'm talking, this guy just poured about ten gallons of jet fuel on himself and lit a match.

In a nutshell, Jim Zumbo, Outdoor Life columnist and perhaps the most visible outdoor writer in the United States, wrote a blogpost (linked below) calling for the banning of ARs, AKs and similar “terrorist” rifles from hunting. Nevermind that there are ARs that outshoot almost any bolt-action rifle out there. Zumbo wrote the post after a varmint shoot testing Remington’s new .17 centerfire Spitfire cartridge (which I believe is simply their version of the venerable .17 Mach IV), so he can’t claim ignorance of the perfection of a high-capacity autoloading rifle in the varmint fields. No, the man’s just a bigot.

After a blogswarm of comments by irate 2A supporters canceling their Outdoor Life subscriptions and calling for a boycott of Remington (Zumbo’s prime sponsor for his TV show Jim Zumbo Outdoors), Zumbo apologized, stating that he plans to learn all about ARs on a hunt with Ted Nugent (link below). Well, that’s nice. But Dumbo’s ill-thought comments are already being trumpeted by the Brady Bunch on their website (link is not to Brady but to Michael Bane’s blogpost about it).

Head on over to Phil's place to see just how fast Remington is distancing themselves from Zumbo.

Ouch.

Ouch.

OUCH!

Your attempt to throw me out of the sleigh, hoping that the wolves would be satisfied with my AR and would leave your precious bambi-zapper alone, is the most craven act of contemptible cowardice I've seen in a while. Now that I'm aware of your anti-gun nature, I'll be sure to cancel the one subscription to Outdoor Life that I have control over, and urge everyone else I know who subscribes to cancel theirs as well. Maybe after they ash-can you, you can go write policy columns for the Brady Center or the VPC.

I'm sure they'd love your little camouflage outfit and folksy wit. They'd find a place for you; after all, you're an "Authentic Gun Guy". *spit*

Back when I was an MP, there was something we called the "Career Warning Light". It's that little light that starts flashing in your brain right after you've done something incredibly stupid, and gotten caught with your pants down.

I imagine Jim Zumbo has his career warning light flashing like crazy right now. How much do you want to bet that his magazine editor is ripping their hair out right now? I mean, I don't know about you, but pissing off the majority of the people who buy your magazine can't be a good business model, can it? And since Zumbo wrote his screed in a blog post, the editor has no control, but it'll effect the magazine all the same.

From what I've seen, Remington has already dumped Zumbo on his ass. How long do you think it'll be before Outdoor Life does the same?

Don't Believe the Dimocrats

When they claim to care about the troops. It's a lie.

Whenever leftists need to show they really, really do care more about the troops than their political opponents, they pull out the armor card. Hillary Clinton did it a year ago. A Rumsfeld-bashing reporter bragged about coaching a soldier into spotlighting the armor gap two years ago. (See below for links to blog posts on the subject published over the last three years.)

Now, following a Feb. 11 WaPo story, "Thousands of Army Humvees Lack Armor Upgrade," the armor shortage is again a rallying cry of the Left as it prepares to defund the war. The New York Times editorial board has a born-again interest in the matter. Democrat strategist Julie Roginsky also repeated the meme on tonight's O'Reilly Factor. And, natch, Ted Kennedy is on the bandwagon.

And yet, the Democrats American Communist Party is the group of loathsome slimebuckets who are behind the "slow bleed" approach to forcing defeat in Iraq. The same cockroaches who can't be honest enough to stand up and say "Yes, I voted for the war in Iraq" because it'll hurt their re-election chances.

And let's be blunt, shall we? All you have to do is look at the Democrat's American Communist Party's actions, and more importantly the actions of their constituents, to see that the Democrats American Communist Party HATES THE TROOPS WITH EVERY FIBER OF THEIR BEING. They only claim to care about the troops in order to gain power in D.C., and if they thought they could gain MORE power by slowly killing every American soldier and pouring our blood onto the Arabian sands, they would do so. Any supposed claim of "caring about the troops" that comes from those anti-American communist clusterfucks can be ignored, because it's nothing but political bullshit.

The Democrats American Communist Party cares about power, and nothing else. To them, the troops are just one more pawn to be used in their quest to obtain power, and they'll bleed us all dry in the process.

Blogging so I don't have to

Hell Yes.

Fuck the Democrats for this. Fuck every last one of them, in the heart. May each and every one of them, from the corrupt slimeball Murtha on down to the lowliest surrender-monkey staffer, rot in hell. I question their patriotism, I question their courage, I question their good sense, I question their very humanity. This is simply inexcusable.

You Democrats, with far too few exceptions, are a disgrace to the sacrifices made by our forefathers, and you have no business referring to yourselves as Americans. Since when is it the Congress’s mandate to run foreign policy, anyway? You bitch, piss, and moan all this time about Bush’s supposedly unscrupulous expansion of executive power, and here you are doing much, much worse — the difference being, he’s trying to win a war, and you’re trying to lose one, for partisan political purposes and nothing more. From anyone else, such behavior would be difficult to comprehend; for you dregs, it’s just another day at the office.

And how dare you craven shitsuckers try to hide behind the flag as you sell our men and women in uniform down the river to protect your election prospects? How dare you claim to “support the troops,” or to have their best interests at heart, at the same time you’re busy planning how to cut them off at the knees, and in such a way as to avoid taking any responsibility for your naked breach of trust and honor? Where do you yellowbellied milksop pieces of shit get the balls to even propose such a lowdown, calculating, plain-old dirty sellout as this?

If each and every one of you had your empty heads sawed off by some screeching Islamofascist tomorrow, it’d be no more than you merit for your appalling treachery. You should be deeply, mortally ashamed of your worthless selves.

I'm waiting for the day when real Americans have had enough of the traitorous rat bastards and pick up their rifles. The Democrats have gone from being simple shitheads to being truly anti-American.

It really is that simple.

I am hosed

Got the laptop back about two weeks ago. Didn't play with it much, because I haven't had the time. Finally sat down today, got online a bit, and decided to put a CD in a listen to music while I surfed.

Guess what the computer didn't recognize? The CD-ROM drive. I shit you not.

So, I played around with it a bit. Finally saw the drive listed. I opened up the drive, put a CD in and closed it. Seemed to work. I opened up the CD drive to take the CD out. The moment the drive opened, the entire computer shut off. No warning, no blue screen of death, just instant shut-off. Bam. I tried to get it to start again. Nothing. I could press the damn power button all day long for the good it would do me.

I really don't know if I can tell you how pissed off I am. It has now been two months since I've had my laptop working. I will never buy another Compaq product again. Ever. Hell, I won't buy an HP product at all, since they're now the parent company of Compaq. Dealing with HP customer service has been like pulling hen's teeth, and I'm thisclose to just shipping the fucking hunk of shit back to them in ten million pieces and telling them to shove each and every piece up their ass.

But I can't afford to buy another computer. How bad is this? I have a laptop that doesn't work, and I can't afford to buy a new one. I'm hosed.

Once I get the money, I'm buying a Mac. I am officially done with Compaq, HP, and Microshaft just as soon as I can afford it.

Appeal for Courage

Is just what it says it is.

As an American currently serving my nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to fully support our mission in Iraq and halt any calls for retreat. I also respectfully urge my political leaders to actively oppose media efforts which embolden my enemy while demoralizing American support at home. The War in Iraq is a necessary and just effort to bring freedom to the Middle East and protect America from further attack.

If you're a military person, you may want to check it out.

Too Young

I was part of another funeral detail today.

This soldier died because of an accident. A stupid accident. As far as I know, we're still losing more soldiers to accidents than we are to actual combat. I was NCOIC of the rifle team once again.

It's hard to lose anybody. I don't think there are adequate words in the English language for the sheer grief that the family and friends feel when they lose someone. But somehow, and I don't want to make light of anyone's grief, somehow I think it's worse when a person dies young because of a stupid accident. When my grandfather died, at the age of 93, I was able to console myself with the fact that he had lived a full, long life, got to do all the things he wanted to do. His funeral was less about mourning than it was a celebration of his life and everything he accomplished. But this woman was younger than I was. She hadn't had a real chance to live yet.

And after all, a funeral is for the living. You can try to dispute that all you want, but the dead don't care. They are beyond the physical realm, and I don't think they care if their casket cost five grand or ten grand, so long as people honor what they did in life. But the living need the ceremony of a funeral. There is a great history behind a military funeral, but one of the most important things that the ceremony provides is a living reminder that WE DO NOT FORGET. It's in the Soldier's Creed: I will never leave a fallen comrade behind. The military funeral is part of that creed. When the family and friends see the soldiers standing at Parade Rest with their rifles, or marching to the hearse to accept the body and carry it to the final resting place, the family, the living family sees that their loved one is not forgotten. It shows the family that their loved one MEANT something. They had a purpose, and people remember their loved one in a significant way. And there is a finality in a twenty-one gun salute that cannot be described. It is a literal expression of "Your job is done. Lay down your burden and let us take up the flag."

It has to be experienced to be understood.

Let me just say now that I do not want to be buried. I want to be cremated, preferably in the Viking style. Toss my body into a wooden boat, douse me with oil, push the boat into the ocean and light that sucker on fire. Instead of a tombstone, I want a marble and oak headstone that contains a cigar humidor and a tap that dispenses Guinness. Put it in the local Legion post or VFW.

I know this is kind of rambling, but I'm in a bit of an odd mindset right now. And I hope you can understand why I didn't post much today.

"...why are you staying????"

American Leftists will never answer that question, Raging Missus.

They just deride it.

Despite the fact that Leftists consider America to be a

gluttonous
greedy
polluting
warmongering
avaricious
racist
sexist
xenophobic
jingoistic
zealot-filled
misogynist
exploitative
ignorant

nation, they couldn't be dragged out of here by ten Abrams and a C-5.

Just a little reminder..

I mean, with all the Leftists in America decrying Ronald Reagan's legacy whenever possible, sometimes it gets a little hard to remember just what he accomplished.

However, the people who were rescued from the bootheel of communism remember who was responsible for it.

Howard Mechanic aka Gary Tredway

I found myself watching a special about Gary Tredway. If you google Gary Tredway you will find many articles about Howard Mechanic. These articles are from news sources like the Jewish News of greater Pheonix, where he hid as a politican, and the Nuclear Resister that was trying to show him support. The reality is that this man is a liar and a fraud, who was busted by Penny Overton, a reporter for Scottsdale Tribune. I think the most factual article was written by Jana Bommersbach.

Wikipedia best summarizes this drama
"Howard Mechanic (a.k.a. Gary Tredway) was an undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis who was accused of hurling a cherry bomb into the university's ROTC building in May 1970, accusations that he denied. He was charged under the Civil Obedience Act of 1968, and was sentenced to prison. During his appeals, he fled and lived under the assumed name of Gary Tredway in Scottsdale, Arizona for thirty years, but his identity as Howard Mechanic became known when he ran for local office. He was discovered during an interview with a local reporter who became suspicious after a background check. After using a number mistruths to try to dissuade the reporter from publishing the story, including claiming to have Leukemia and donating 25% of his earnings to charity, she reported on the story anyway. He was imprisoned but received a pardon by President Bill Clinton in January 2001."

I am not at all impressed that Clinton pardoned this imposter. But, I do question what the FBI was doing for the 30 years he was on their list. You would think that someone would catch that, the face didn't change. It took a reporter to bring him to justice.
*****************************************************************
The thing that really caught my attention in all of this was a catch phrase from that era, "

AMERICA-LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT

I think this is an absolutely beautiful phrase.
It summarizes how I, and many others feel.

I was fortunate enough to find some websites selling goods with this ideal:

Unfortunately this has also become a loathsome question for those of the left-wing not to answer. They consider it infantile and think that it is a sign of a repressed society where you aren't allowed to speak out.

There is a modernized, longer version of it with which I agree

If you think America sucks so much
then move to whatever socialist/communist country you think is so wonderful.

After all, if it is that great there, and so horrible here, why are you staying????

Speaking of the Fortitudinally-Challenged...

Yeah.

On your bike, beotch.

Oy!

the many PUSSIES in our world

As the "Pussification of the Western Male" has been topic for quite a while. I thought I might just share a variety of "pussy's" with you:

Lets start with the GI Joe of Pussy's: all American and proud to show it!

The next is the Pin-up of Pussy's. Think Pam Anderson and the twins, Marilyn or maybe Betty Gable ...

Last but definately least is the left wing pussy. This pussy possesses attributes of both the Jellyfish and Cameleon and is envious of the male seahorse. You can also find this one in the bar on a Saturday night failing to get lucky.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce...

BOZO THE PUSSY

pride and prejudism

Living in Puerto Rico, I have had great epiphanies about prejudism. I have never seen any purpose for or experienced prejudice before we came here. As a white woman, shy of going into the "wrong neighborhoods" I can usually expect to be welcome most anywhere, except maybe a "Gentlemans Club(where the only women should be waitstaff)". I have never understood why Black people who have experienced pejudice from White people hated the whole culture so much and developed something I consider a loathsome, hateful attitude, that tends toward self perpetuation. The prejudice that a lot of us feel is often minor slights that, if were only occasional could be overlooked, but it is a regular occurrence. The things that are noticed the most are what fouls the refs call in team sports, and if peoples ID's are checked or not. As I said, it is little slights. For example, my sister spent some time in the DC area. She would frequently go horseback riding with some of her co-workers, a few of which were black. When they went to the stable and picked out the horses, the saddles on the black girls horses, were loose. But, if they called ahead all of the saddles were properly adjusted. This was experienced on multiple occasions. Still, something that if experience rarely could be an oversight, but regularly is more than a coincidence. With the experience of the attitude, you really begin to feel and believe that it is US VS THEM!!! It takes a great deal of self control to not portray that attitude in your actions. Being the outsider you must always watch your wording for fear of being labeled prejudice yourself. After a while you learn to expect this behavior, and that has been a terrible price to my emotional well being. Once you expect the behavior, you want to withdrawl from the undesired attitudes. At this point it is difficult at best not to portray the attitudes that you have been victim to...
and the cycle begins again.

As much as I, and many others from the Continental 48 feel this constant pressure every day, we also have to remind ourselves that there are many natives that envy us for not having been here forever, and having an out in a few years. There are many who are welcoming of us and believe that we can help create change for the better.

I would challenge anyone who has experienced prejudice to rise above it, to the best of their ability and count their blessings each and every day. This does not mean to ignore it, not at all. If you are able to make a change, do so! You have a voice, USE IT! But, do not let the devil get you down, fight the system and prove that you are better than that. Do not perpetuate the cycle.

I am sorry if some feel this post is preachy. It comes from my heart. I am saddened to have the experience to need to write this post. I hate the loss of innocence that was paid for it, for me and all who have lost it.

People do not think...
A person does:)

Domestic: US Tax Revenues Up 9.7% through four months, Deficit Down 57%

What's in the news? Anna Nichole Smith. Disaster in Iraq. Usual Democrat American Communist Party propaganda.

Bush's tax cuts work. Flat out, plain and simple, CANNOT BE DENIED. But the Has-Been Media doesn't want to tell you that.

Foreign: Iranian weapons found in Iraq. More precisely, rifles bought by Iran, easily traced, in the hands of terrorists in Iraq.

Will the spineless politicians do anything about it? Doubtful. That would take balls, which our current crop of congresscritters simply don't have.
