There are some really great athletes nominated, but this particular athlete left a promising career in sports to fight for his country. He refused to grant interviews to avoid accusations that he chose to serve as a publicity stunt and was killed in battle.
Honor his sacrafice by voting for Pat Tillman for SI's Sportsman of the Year.
