Honors
I hope you'll all understand if I don't write another post until Monday.
The Amnesty Bill isn't dead yet, but it's gasping for air. Good. We need to keep our hands wrapped around it's neck until the thing is dead and gone. We don't need an 800 page tome of laws that will promptly be ignored as soon as the ink is wet. We need two things, and two things only:
1) Secure the borders.
2) Enforce the existing laws.
It really is that simple. And the government has failed to do it for decades, until we have millions upon millions of illegal aliens living in America and cities ignoring the laws that are written. Since the government has proven beyond a doubt that they can't or won't do a damn thing, why should we trust them to follow ANY of the Amnesty Bill they wanted to pass?
Kill the Bill. Kill it, burn it, shred the ashes, and then bury them in a septic tank somewhere.
Still more Paris Hilton in the news. Gag. Please, Lord, make it stop. Why in the name of all that is holy are people so fixated on a skank who's only claims to fame are that A) her daddy is rich, and B) she made a sex tape that got out, and then showed how embarrassed she was about it by flashing every bit of genitalia possible in public.
The sooner that we don't care about Paris Hilton or anyone like her, the better.
That's it for today. See you all next week.

See what you miss when you're away?
In fact, that day, the police was so effective they even prevented a suicide bomber from entering the building. We heard the boom, and as if on cue, RPG and small arms fire. The Marines of the 2/6 infantry unit grinned as they pulled on their equipment and took positions, but in reality, the Iraqi police had prevented a major suicide attack. There was, however, one victim—the suicide bomber. So, how did the death of a sole suicide bomber become the Wall Street Journal headline of "Suicide Bombing in Fallujah Leaves 25 Dead, 50 Wounded"? To be fair, NPR, CBS, Sky News, and CNN all parroted the same numbers, as they rushed to report something—anything! The answer is a 20-minute helicopter away in Baghdad. Where the majority of "reporting" is done from the Green Zone.
The reporting is, indeed, atrocious. The Washington Post report about the Green Zone running out of food, or members of the military not being able to blog were flat out lies.I'm currently one of FIVE embeds in all of the Al Anbar Province. A province roughly the size of South Carolina.
Emphasis mine. I guess it's just easier to slander the troops and push a political agenda like a good little whore than get out and, yannow, REPORT THE FACTS. There's simply no reason to pick up a newspaper for actual news. You would be better off hitting the tipjars of Sanchez, or Micheal Yon, or Bill Roggio, or any of the other private citizens who are over there doing the job that the newspapers are too worthless and gutless to do.
Added without comment via DANEgerus - High Crimes and MisdemeanorsCNN:
1) Freely admitted that they covered up some of Saddam Hussein's most horrific crimes in exchange for "access."
2) Co-produced a piece on "Operation Tailwind" from the Viet Nam war, during which they alleged that the US used poison gas.
3) Accused the US military of "targeting" journalists for killing in Iraq.
NBC News:
1) Rigged a GMC pickup to explode, using model rocket engines, to support their story that the trucks could explode in a routine crash.
MSNBC:
Keith Olbermann. 'Nuff said.
CBS News:
1) Aired a documentary on the suffering of Viet Nam veterans without disclosing (or, even noticing) that five of the six veterans profiled had never actually served in Viet Nam.
2) Aired a piece on George W. Bush's National Guard service using fraudulent documents and describing the accuser as an "Air National Guard veteran," instead of "an Army National Guard veteran with a long-standing grudge against Bush and a history of mental problems."
New York Times:
(Far, far, far too many to mention, starting with the white wash of Stalin's atrocities in the Soviet Union and including publishing identifying information on CIA aircraft, and other highly classified information. Toss in their hypocrisy in championing the "leaking" of information when it suits their purpose, but demanding the heads of whoever "outed" Valerie Plame by any means necessary except actually asking journalists who told them what.)
I could go on, but that ought to be more than enough.
Compared to that, what the hell has Fox News done that merits such vitriol? I know it's usually a bad idea to -- as Bill O'Reilly likes to say -- "justify bad behavior by citing other bad behavior," but in this case it seems that Fox is being punished for sins that pale in comparison to others' misdeeds.
It's all about the political agenda, folks.
I was remiss yesterday
June 6th, 1944. D-Day.
I think it's rather fitting, that on the very day when so many brave men sacrificed themselves to bring freedom to an entire continent, I was practicing the movements and drills to honor a fallen comrade, who gave the ultimate sacrifice trying to bring freedom to yet another continent.
Sixty-three years after the Greatest Generation began the charge into hell, our soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen are still going strong. Still fighting against insane lunatics. The tactics may have changed, the enemy may be swarthy and dark instead of blond haired and blue-eyed, but the mentality we fight, the arrogant superiority and quest for world domination - those are the same. And we're still fighting against it. For all our sakes, I hope we continue to fight against it.
Sixty-three years ago, some Sergeant was doing just what I'm doing now - going through the drills, practicing, in order to render honors to a fallen comrade. He had different medals on his chest - perhaps a German Campaign medal, maybe a Pacific Campaign ribbon. But the rank on our sleeves will be the same. It's the Non-Coms who perform the ceremony. Officers can give a speech, but NCO's fire the 21 gun salute. NCO's carry the casket, NCO's fold the flag. Some un-named Sergeant and I, separated by over six decades, but we're doing the same exact things. The very same motions and drills. And for the very same reason:
To honor a fallen comrade. And the Soldiers we honor fell for the same reasons - to fight a mentality that would enslave the world if it could.
God bless those that fell sixty-three years ago. It is from them that we take the inspiration we hold today.

Sprinting in place
The soldier hasn't returned to Santo Domingo yet. Paperwork issues. That should be settled at some point, and then they'll fly him here, where we'll pick him up. Honor Guard, most likely 24 hours. Then the ceremony. He's going to be cremated, so there won't be a funeral in the common sense of the word. From what I understand, we'll be bringing his casket right out into the street. The police are going to shut off traffic for a couple of blocks, and there will be people everywhere.
It's going to be interesting, to say the least.
In the meantime, it's practice, practice, practice, meeting, practice, meal time, meeting, practice, meeting, meal time, bed time. Roughly. That's an approximation, not a direct copy from my schedule. I've got another meeting in twenty minutes, so I'll sign off for now and let you all get back to the blogs where people are actually posting this week!

Yet another Hash Picture
That's me, hauling ass through Puerto Rico. That backpack looking thing is my Camelbak, which I aways carry on a Hash. Otherwise I'd have heat stroke within a mile. Running in PR during the afternoon is a bitch sometimes. One more? OK.
That, my friends, is what we call "The Shiggy". What, you thought we only ran on roads? Unfortunately, that picture looks a lot better than it smelled. If I have a chance, I'll be posting a pic a day if I can. That's IF the hotel has internet. And that's a big IF.
But, but, but...
Three people were arrested and one other was being sought Saturday in connection to a plan to set off explosives in a fuel line that feeds John F. Kennedy International Airport and runs through residential neighborhoods, officials close to the investigation said.Captain Ed points out that this isn't just a homegrown plot, this had ties all over the world. Read his post, because I honestly don't know what I could add to it.

The Fall of the Republican Party
But I don't know what's worse - the fact that the GOP is turning into the New Democrats, or the fact that the current Democrats are exponentially worse than anything the GOP could put forth.
Our political choices are either a giant pile of dogshit, or a cesspool filled with even more dogshit. Yay.
Where's that Reset button again?

DAY-UM!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I'd say this one is worth more than that. As I said at the blog where I found this picture, that kid knows exactly who can and will help him when all hell breaks loose. It's human nature to run to the place or thing that makes you feel safest when you're in danger.
Just keep that in mind as you look at that photo.
And life refuses to stop
Once again, I will be the Rifle Team Leader for a military funeral, this one in Santo Domingo. I don't know if I'll have internet access or not. In Panama, I had about 10 minutes per day, which was enough to check my email and then get off the computer.
I'll be posting during the weekend, but come Monday afternoon I'm on a plane getting ready to give another soldier their final send off. I won't be back until Friday night or Saturday morning.
You know, every now and then I find some leftist anti-war shithead who spouts off some insult that they've kept on hand just to use against conservatives. "Oh, well you don't know what it's like for the families. You've never seen what the families go through. You don't blah blah blah blah blah." Whatever. You know what? I have attended the funerals of many people in the military, and each one of those people I rendered honors to are better than any of the worthless pusbuckets who currently reside on the Left side of the political sphere.
You think I don't know what the family goes through? I guarantee one thing - I have a much firmer grasp on the grief of a military family than 99.999% of the Leftist shitnozzles that shriek and gibber and use the troops as a political weapon. The left hates the military. The Left LOATHES the military with a passion, plain and simple. I don't care what the current Leftist de jour says on any given day, all you have to do is look at their actions and you can see that the Left would just prefer it if the United States Military would just go away and never come back. If it's not John F'ing Kerry calling the troops stupid, it's Rosie the Stupid Fucking Cow calling them terrorists. Or, it's Moonbat Protesters exhorting the troops to shoot their officers. Or it's Hillary Clinton trying to get military uniforms banned from the White House. Or it's Charlie the Corrupt Communist Rangel calling them all poor and uneducated. Or it's Cindy Sheehan calling them a bunch of murdering thugs. Or it's any of the Leftist idiots and morons in Congress cutting the budget, screwing with troop funding, ect., ect., ect., the list keeps going on and on. And the Left as a whole doesn't give a shit if a soldier dies. They. Just. Don't. Care. UNLESS, they can use that soldier's death as a way to score political points. And then it's "Oh, the troops are dying! Don't you care about the troops? You don't care about the troops!" Fuck off, you Leftist zombies. I know who supports the military and who doesn't. I see it every day.
The rest of the military does as well.
Every time I help bury a soldier, I know that I'm giving respect to someone who's worth more than any of the Kos Kid's Petting Zoo. Or all of Glen(s) Greenwald's sock puppets put together, with Andy "Shrieking" Sullivan tossed in for good measure.
Blah. I'm tired, brain dead, and looking forward to laying my head on my pillow tonight.

I don't know what to make of this

I really don't. OK, so I'm in Puerto Rico, but still.... I guess any asshole with a Yahoo account can get a green card.
I'm of two minds. One, if any moron can get a green card, that doesn't say much about our immigration policy, does it? And two, if it's this easy to get a damn green card, then why don't more people do it instead of sneaking over the damn border?!
I'm being sarcastic, of course. But still, I don't know if I'm amused or annoyed by this. Both, I guess.
Security Investigations
What a crock of shit. I'll tell you what, the fact that he's a Clintoon crony is enough to ensure that I'll never vote for either of them. Hell, given the chance I won't have a thing to do with them except voting against them. The Clintoons are like herpes - once you have 'em, there's nothing you can do to get rid of them. Only instead of giving you a cold sore, they destroy your economy, tax you to death, steal your firearms and completely wreck the military.
Come to think of it, I'd take cold sores over the Clintoons any day of the week.
Gah. Back to filling out more forms.
WOO HOO!
SEATTLE — A 27-year-old man described as one of the world's most prolific spammers was arrested Wednesday, and federal authorities said computer users across the Web could notice a decrease in the amount of junk e-mail.
Robert Alan Soloway is accused of using networks of compromised "zombie" computers to send out millions upon millions of spam e-mails.
"He's one of the top 10 spammers in the world," said Tim Cranton, a Microsoft Corp. lawyer who is senior director of the company's Worldwide Internet Safety Programs. "He's a huge problem for our customers. This is a very good day."
I say put him in chains at Westlake Center and let anyone who's been bothered by spam take a whack at him with a bamboo cane. When he passes out, wake him up and let people continue. Don't stop until he's nothing more than a bleeding lump of flesh. Then, let the hospital folks have him for a while, right before he's transported to a high-security prison where he'll rot for the rest of his miserable life.
That would set one hell of an example for other spammers, wouldn't it?

Updating a post
But reading that post again today, I had another thought on top of that - If "Old Blood and Guts" Patton were alive today, does anyone doubt that the Leftists would be howling for his head, or at the very least, his rank?
George S. Patton was antithetical to Leftist thought. And I find it absolutely hilarious that a Leftist would use the movie "Patton" to try and insult me.
TVE - perhaps you could leave some of the more amusing comments up? I don't get a chance to read them at work, and I'd love to see just what they're saying. I can't point and laugh at them if I can't see 'em.

When Moonbats send email
Now, I've gone over what Momma Moonbat did in the past. She flat out shit on her son's grave, all to advance a political agenda that was contrary to her son's actions. A grieving mother? I have no doubt that she grieved at first, but then she made the choice to use her son's death in the most disgusting ways possible.Raging Dave:Yesterday, I had the chance to watch one of my favorite films, Franklin Schaffner's Patton. George C. Scott takes the stage for an opening monologue, delivered to troops headed for WWII. He acknowledges their fears and the challenges ahead, and then says, "Thirty years from now, when you're sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks you, 'What did you do in the great World War II,' you won't have to say, 'Well... I shoveled shit in Louisiana.'"
You, on the other hand, will have to say this, regarding you actions during the war in Iraq: "Well, I shoveled shit on a grieving mother, and in the name of a Jesus-freak fuck-up of a president who wasn't worth the dirt on her feet, nor the dirt shoveled on her son's grave."
Have a nice day, you miserable, gutless prick.
And grasp this concept: Viagra. It will cure what really ails you, and most right-wing idiots, and you won't be so cruel to others once you successfully get laid.

Cindy Sheehan called American troops terrorists.
Cindy Sheehan has called the President of the United States a terrorist.
Cindy Sheehan has done everything in her power to ensure that the US Army is defeated by a bunch of baby raping, woman killing terrorists by undermining that Army, their commanders, their CiC and their mission.
Cindy Sheehan has crapped all over my country, my Army, my brothers in arms, my mission, and my Commander in Chief, and yet Derek Murphy of Rochester NY wants to claim that she's just a "grieving mother".
Horse shit. She's a tool, a political whore, an insane stupid wench who willingly let herself get used by the
So here's a big "Fuck You" to Derek Murphy of Rochester NY. Spare me your platitudes, I already know how people like you support the troops.... and how you remember them. Don't bother to write back, I'll just have to ridicule you in public again.
By the way, Derek Murphy of Rochester NY. There's a word to describe your last paragraph - it's called "projection". Toodles!
Ah, well, that explains it
The Sock-Puppeteer himself! Glen(s) Greenwald! I also got linked to by memeorandum. Isn't that sweet? Glen(s) linked to me regarding my post about the "memo" from Iraq. To quote Glen(s):
Time and again, they are revealed to be people completely unmoored from reality or without the slightest regard for basic precepts of responsible commentary. Facts which are unpleasant to them are deemed to be "fake" for that reason alone, and the most serious accusations come spewing forth from their mouths without any regard to whether they are actually true.In response, I only have one question. Hey Glen(s), tell me exactly what government agency uses a Hummel Figurine in their letterhead? You know, this one:

Because let me tell ya - I've seen DOD memos, DA memos, USARC memos, hell, even my unit letterhead has an actual seal on it. I have never seen any official memo from the government that uses a picture of a collectible knick-knack on the letterhead.
But according to Glen(s), I should just accept the memo unquestioning and agree that everything is going to hell. Sorry skippy, ain't gonna happen. That's your M.O., not mine.
Anyways, I figure the moonbats will get tired after a day or two, and then I'll go back to just posting when I can. If anyone wants to hang around and play "whack-a-moonbat" be my guest.
Adios, Cindy
Cindy Sheehan,
whose soldier son was killed in Iraq three years ago, who used her son's grave as a political soapbox to advance a political agenda he would have never agreed with, said yesterday she was stepping down from her role as the figurehead of the US campaign against the war.(Yeah, I fixed part of that paragraph. RD)
"This is my resignation letter as the 'face' of the American anti-war movement," she wrote in a sometimes bitter diary entry on the website Daily Kos. "I am going to take whatever I have left, and go home. I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children, and try to regain some of what I have lost." ...
"I was the darling of the so-called left as long as I limited my protests to George Bush and the Republican party," she wrote. "However, when I started to hold the Democratic party to the same standards that I held the Republican party, support for my cause started to erode, and the 'left' started labelling me with the same slurs that the right used."
On Saturday, in an open letter to Democratic members of Congress, she announced that she was leaving the party because she felt its leaders had failed to change the country's course in Iraq.
Poor momma Moonbat, taking her ball and going home. She was used like a ten-dollar whore by the
I don't think I detested this woman this damn much when she first came out. But when she used her son's grave in a photo-op?
I was flat out disgusted. So please, Cindy, go away. It was nice to be able to show the
Buh-bye.
