Getting the bike you lusted for 18 years later

So, I had a Honda Shadow 750.  Great bike.  Awesome bike.  Loved it like a baby, and that bike has been all over Virginia and Mississippi.  And parts of Utah.

Utah is where the problems started.  See, a 750 might be a big sport bike, but it's a small cruiser, and at interstate speeds it'll vibrate you to death.  And while I could cover every inch of the states back East and never once touch an interstate, in Utah there are huge stretches of territory that are only interstate roads.

So my Honda Shadow, which took the Blue Ridge Parkway like a champ and showed up a lot of bigger bikes, was beating me to death on the interstate.

Sad.

Not only that, but due to the mountains we have in Utah (as compared to the much smaller hills back East) the bike was struggling to climb with two riders on it.

So, as of yesterday, my bike, which I lovingly cared for and gave all the best oils and accoutrements, was traded in to a very nice shop which will make sure it's passed on to someone else who loves it as much as I did.  And I rode away on a 2002 Honda VTX 1800.  14k miles on the odometer.  Never been dropped.

Yeah, that bike took the wife and I over Parley's Summit and didn't even grunt.  7000 feet up at 80 mph?  Vroom vroom.

So now I have to go make sure I have all the right oil, so I can take care of this bike like I took care of the last one.

How about YouTube? How does Laura Southern's documentary about the border get removed from YouTube within 24 hours of posting without any reason or explanation? What if I told you a Policy Manager at YouTube, before becoming a Policy Manager at YouTube, was employed by Hillary for America and was a manager in Obama's campaign before that? What if I told you YouTube's Global Content Policy Lead previously worked at the DNC? Did you know the person responsible for "growing the next generation of stars" on YouTube worked in the Office of Digital Strategy at the White House under Obama? Or that the person in charge of developing the careers of YouTube creators was the Director of Video for Obama? Speaking of helping the careers of creators, did you know Vox, the company that got Steven Crowder demonetized, was one of the companies that YouTube doled out $20 million dollars to, for 'educational videos'? 

Ten people, directly connected to the progressive Democrat political machine who are now controlling our conversations online. Sounds like an important alarm, no? 

What if I told you there were nearly a hundred more?

The Democrats have for YEARS put their people into the media.  They're doing the same to Big Tech, and Big Tech has welcomed them with open arms.  Other than blogging, which I've done since about 2003-2004, I'm pretty disconnected from social media.  I don't notice many trends.  Much like TV - I don't own one.  I don't watch TV shows. 

Which means that when I'm forced to gaze upon the toxic Leftist cesspool that is Twitter or facebook or your average TV show, I'm shocked at just what biased garbage is spewing forth.

But your kids are not only on social media, they are addicted to it.  Hell, a bunch of adults are addicted to that electronic crack-pipe that they've carrying around in their pocket.  Yes, electronic crack-pipe.  It controls their lives.  They respond to its every whim, which means that they are being programed to respond to every whim of the people who control policy at Twitter and facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp and every other Leftist controlled social programming device.

That old adage of "Power corrupts" is only half-right.  It's not just that power corrupts, although that's often the case.  It's that the already-corrupt are attracted to power, and right now the power in the USA is controlled by Washington D.C. and Silicon Valley.  It should come as no shock that both places are absolutely controlled by the worst sort of anti-American shitbag Democrats.

I agree - Low Profile Tires are absolute trash

Nice to see other people acknowledge that fact.

Low-profile tires are all the rage these days, and mostly for aesthetics, as automakers want to project “performance” or whatever. But most people, even the ones who think they are into super hyper ultra performance, don’t need these garbage pieces of rubber.

Your tires are the most important accessory you can put on your car, for the simple fact that they are the part of the car that touches the road.  And you can quibble about my use of the word "accessory".  Call them what you want.  Good tires mean good handling and good protection for your ride, and low profile tires are never good tires.  Oh, you'll pay a mint for them, but that doesn't mean they're good.  They're trash.  They are incapable of handling the bumps of the road like a normal tire would, which means your shocks and struts take a beating, and all that beating transfers to the rest of your vehicle.  You want your car to die an early death, or eat you up on repair bills?  Put low profiles on. 

And just in case anyone cares, I have Michelin Defenders on my car.  I want tires that can handle some snow and ice, given where I live now and where I plan on visiting.  I had the standard tires that came from the factory when I first bought the car.  Putting on good tires changed the way the car handled.  I could stop faster in shorter distances.  It was quieter.  It handled wet roads far better.  I used to get my tires to squeal if I really pushed it around some corners where I lived, and now I can't even get them to chirp around a corner unless I emulate an F1 racer.

Get good tires.  And that, by definition, precludes any low profile tires.

AOC refuses to condemn Antifa terror attack on ICE facility

But what did you expect from an America-hating socialist?

When asked by a Rebel Media reporter earlier today whether she would condemn the attack, AOC refused to explicitly condemn it, saying only that she would make a statement about the incident later. 

Her handlers have to craft a suitable statement for her.  She's incapable of coming up with an original thought on the subject.

Harping on a Theme

Trump's not Racist, he's pushing the Overton Window back to "Normal".

You know that and I know that this is what the Leftists have done. Moreover, the millions of Americans who aren’t as political as we are know that this is what Leftists have done. They intuitively recognize that the new Overton window is as unrelated to reality as the current gender madness, but because of the Leftist Overton window shift, they are cowed into silence. The silent, sane majority in of Americans know that they can lose their jobs, get doxed, be socially humiliated, or be subject to brutal attacks if they suggest that people who were living in dirt poor, war torn, corrupt countries were blessed to come here. It would be even worse were these silenced Americans to state the obvious conclusion: If these new immigrants cannot show gratitude for the country that took them in, but insist that it’s the most evil country in the world and that their dirt poor, war torn, corrupt homeland is better, they should stop taking up space in America and return to their natal lands. 

In other words, Trump stated the obvious. And by his willingness to state the obvious, he has returned the obvious to the realm of public discourse. He has shifted the Overton window back to a more normal, common sense debate. It wasn’t a mistake of epic proportions. It was a brilliant insistence on having public debate occur in reality world, not in the Leftist’s dystopian fantasy world.

With regards to Evita Guevera-Castro's claim to be "Puerto Rican", I would like to point out that I've actually lived in Puerto Rico while she has not.  Therefore, I've spent more time in the country she claims to belong to than she has.  She's just another loudmouth New Yorican who adopts a Boriqua accent when it's convenient.

I would also like to point out that she identifies as Puerto Rican, and not as an American.

Bookworm also points out that Rashida Tlaib, who was born in America, was sworn in under a Palestinian flag.  So she's "American", but she swears allegiance to a terrorist organization who's goal is the complete genocide of Jews.

I wonder how many Normal Americans know that?

Twitter sides with pedo tranny over free speech.

Because, as Insty pointed out, Twitter doesn't actually like free speech.

One of Canada’s most outspoken free speech advocates, Lindsay Shepherd, has been suspended from Twitter. The suspension comes after and jousting match with a notorious trans woman named JY who has been accused of predatory behaviour toward childrenand frivolous human rights complaints.

By their fruits ye shall know them.  And if the Left wants to ally themselves with pedo trannies, well, you can take a guess where their proclivities lie.

Now hang on! Just look at all the societal benefits to be reaped from this policy. After all, the proof is in the pudding, right? Why, look at these three American success stories, every one of them from, I think we agreed, an immigrant family. And every one of them is a vitriolic, America-hating, openly socialist, race-baiting pain-in-the-ever-loving-ass. Just imagine how many more families just like theirs we could bring in with an open-borders policy that had an even lowerbar for… say, where are you going? Come back, damn it! Diversity is our strength, I tell you! 

So, genuine question… why shouldn’t we call them on their bullshit? Somalia and Porto Rico are shitholes. So are the pieces of land around Israel still occupied by “Palestinians”. Two of those are occasionally explosive shitholes, arguably the worst kind. Their families came from places that are objectively worse, compared to the United States. But, uh, boy, you’d never know it listening to them. They sure have a lot of problems with us, considering. Why the Hell should we suffer in silence while these wanna-be commies back-seat drive our government?

I don't know if it was his intent, but Trump now has the Democrats embracing four of the most anti-American shitbags in their party.  Anti-American, socialist, racist shitbags.

The GOP might not be smart enough to take this gift and do anything with it, but Trump is.  And he will.

If I meet a doctor, and he's got a degree from Yale, I'll probably be impressed.  If I meet an engineer, an actual, honest-to-god, builds shit twenty stories tall engineer, and he's got a degree from Stanford, then I'll be impressed.

When I meet Upchuck Schumer Jr., and he's got a degree from Harvard, I'm not impressed.  Being rich and having your politically connected daddy buys you entrance into said university?  That just makes me think less of that university.  And my opinions of universities is about as low as it can go, and still going lower with each passing week.  And please don't tell me that these politicians kids have somehow managed to get into these schools on their own merit.  Most politicians don't have the intelligence to tie their own shoes, and I highly doubt their kids are any smarter.  "Oh but Dave, they're LAWYERS and such!"

Back in L.A., I met an actual, real SMART PERSON, and he had his Juris Doctorate.  He was working in a production company doing video editing.  He was so disgusted with the people in the law career that he took his $$$$$$ degree and walked away from the entire field.  With lawyers like Glenn Reynolds as an outlier, the vast majority of lawyers are morally compromised idiot savants who are really really good at regurgitating what they read in books.

Real estate lawyers excepted.  Those people do some yeoman's work, outside of a courtroom.

Anyways, I just wanted to take yet another opportunity to remind you that a college degree is just a fancy piece of paper that says you've been well and duly indoctrinated, and are worthless to the majority of occupations that are worth a damn.

The Democrats hate the military and want to destroy it

Just look at the crap they want to saddle our military with.

For example, multiple amendments appear to try to shift the Pentagon’s focus from defense of the nation to defense of the environment. One would ratchet up the renewable energy mandate for defense installations. Another would assign Space Force the task of monitoring climate change. There are more amendments along these lines. 

Other amendments would give the Pentagon less bang for the buck. Provisions that would require the military to consider diversity and LGBT involvement in its hiring and contracting decisions are unrelated to efficiency or effectiveness, as are small business preferences, buy America provisions, and other similar legislative mandates.

The Democrats have hated the military with a burning passion ever since Truman decided that he didn't really want to win the Korean War.  And then it was the Left spitting on troops returning from Viet Nam.  They were shamed into hiding during the War on Terror, but they're crawling back out of their swamps more and more.

Hamstringing the military with political, SJW bullshit would be the Democrat's dream.  Of course, it'll just mean that more troops die when we go to war, but the Democrats don't care.  As far as they're concerned, we're just a bunch of stupid hicks anyway, so the more of us that die, the less of us can vote against the Democrats.  It's a win-win for them.

Yeah, that'll really get people to watch

US Women's Soccer players drop flag on ground and drag it with their feet.  Luckily, another player with actual love for her country stepped in and picked it up.

After the United States Women’s National Soccer Team’s (USWNT) won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the fourth time, co-captain Megan Rapinoe and midfielder Allie Long can be seen disrespecting the flag. 

Long dropped the American flag on the ground to do a choreographed celebration with Rapinoe and co-captain Alex Morgan. While posing for the cameras, Long and Rapinoe dragged the American flag with their feet after it was on the ground.

I have a question for Morgan and Rapinoe?  Why do you play for a country that you obviously hate?  Aren't there any other countries that would willingly accept a couple of anti-American lesbian soccer players?  I'm certain there is.  Hell, France would probably make you citizens the moment you set foot on their ground.

Go somewhere else, ladies.  We don't need you here.

In the meantime, I'll go back to giving women's soccer all the attention I gave it before I found out about this little BS stunt:  None.  Because I refuse to watch and/or support a bunch of America-hating leftists, who showed us their true colors long before the World Cup began.

The "Tolerant" Left

Doxxing and threatening the life of an eight year old girl.  You've probably already seen this.  I'm just helping get the exposure to this story to grow a tiny bit larger.  Let me restate the premise:

THE SO-CALLED TOLERANT LEFT DOXXED AND THREATENED THE LIFE OF AN EIGHT YEAR OLD GIRL.

Ava Martinez, known to most of us as "Mini AOC," frequently recorded parody videos and took photos making fun of the real Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Apparently AOC fans didn't like the 8-year-old's content so they started doxxing and threatening Martinez and her family.

There's your "civility" for you.  This is why when I hear the Left cry for civility, I laugh.  When the Left is whining about being civil, that means they're losing.  Because the Left doesn't want civility.  They want to kill you.  They hate you.  They hate everything about you.  They hate that you refuse to give up your rights.  They hate that you refuse to be ruled.  They hate that you think for yourself.  And they want to kill you and destroy you and everything you care about.

Take a good hard look at how "civil" the Left is when they have power.  Imagine your eight year old daughter getting DEATH THREATS.

That is the Left's "civility".  A jack-boot stomping on the back of your neck, forever.  Need another example?

Salmar Community Association board member Chris Papworth confirmed on Thursday, July 4, that the board has agreed to pull the movie’s five-day run, which was set to begin on July 12 at the Salmar Classic. He said the difficult decision to cancel the film was made out of concern for the personal safety for Salmar Theatres management, who had received personal threats via social media.

Got that?  In order to stop an anti-abortion movie from being played in a theater, the oh-so-"tolerant" Left threatened violence against the managers of the theater.  And this is in Canada, where the 2nd Amendment does't exist, so the manager can't just strap up and tell the violent Leftist thugs to bring their own body bags.

The Left hates you.  The Left wants to destroy you.  Kill you.  Extinguish you from this Earth.  Don't you ever forget it.  Don't take my word for it.  Just look at their actions.

Been going like gangbusters to try and get the house unpacked, and we're only halfway through.  I'm friggin' bushed.  I'm at the point where the Salvation Army might just get entire boxes of my crap hand-delivered.

I haven't used it in two months.  I probably don't need it.

You can have one, or you can have the other.  I've remarked in the past that the Left fears freedom, because freedom also means RESPONSIBILITY, and they want none of that.  And so they cry to the government to take away their responsibilities.  Their obligations to their family and to themselves.  And with that, they give away their freedom right alongside the responsibilities that they distain.

And they demand that we free men do the same.
