Gack

That about sums up how I feel. Gack. I'm finally starting to break up the crud in my chest, but it hurts every time I cough. At least I'm starting to actually cough stuff up rather than deal with empty, wheezing gacking. Slowly, oh so slowly, I start to improve.

In the meantime, enjoy the blogroll. I'm going to drink myself into a stupor and pass out. Hopefully I'll be able to sleep more than an hour at a time.

Gah. Every time a long weekend or leave comes up, I either get sick or injured. I'm not liking that at all.

Linky Love

Since I'm under the weather, which is a nice way to say that I feel as if the Fat Fuck from Flint was sitting directly on my chest, I offer up links to writers who obviously feel better than I do.

Uno: Mark, I've been saying much the same thing for years now. Although I'm fairly certain that my plan called for bulldozers and tons upon tons of TNT.

Dos: Mr. Poretto points out the media's ramping into an all-out blitz against President Bush. We know that the Has-Been Media is the Democrat party's propaganda wing, and they're doing it yet again.

And Tres: Kim du Toit gives us an instructive lesson on traitors abroad, and how the lesson of their actions apply at home.

There. You can go read.

What a difference a day makes

Yesterday, I woke up early. About 5 AM. Went on a three and a half mile run with the dog. Came home, showered, went to work.

Today, I woke up early. About 4 AM. I had a 100.5 degree fever and I couldn't breathe. Yay. All in 24 hours.

I'm fairly certain this has something to do with the 200 square feet of mold covering the wall near my office. I'm bleaching the hell out of that wall as soon as I can breathe again.

Did you know...

...that Hezbollah fighters sometimes wear Israeli uniforms? Of course you didn't.

Well Golly

Them Leftists just know how to show their "peacefulness", don't they?

Don't they?

Other than that whole "Death to Israel" thing, that is. I mean, nothing screams "world peace" to me like calling for the death of an entire country. Gosh, that's peaceful!

Me neither

Riddle: What do the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps and I have in common?

Answer: We all work for lunatics.

That is all.

I ain't blogging today

Because Analog Kid and David have been tearing it up over at RNS, and they've pretty much said anything I was going to say to begin with.

So, I haven't said much about

John Karr, the guy snatched from Thailand because they thought me might be the Jonbenet Ramsey murderer. He's not getting charged in that case.

Now, what I want to know is this: Why the hell are people so damn upset? Really, why? They don't have any evidence that he's involved in the case, so he's not getting charged, and people are pissed off. Aren't they happy that false charges weren't pressed?

Now granted, Karr is a sick, sick pervert. I wouldn't allow him within two miles of any child of mine. He's getting sent to California to face child pornography charges. He made up stories about giving a six year old girl oral sex, for Pete's sake. He's a sick bastard, and I personally don't see why we couldn't just leave him in a different country for the rest of his life. He lost his license to teach a few years ago. He was about to start teaching in Thailand, and some of the crap they've dug up there shows that Karr is still a sick, perverted pedophile. I don't even want him on US soil. But he didn't kill Ramsey. Why are people so upset? Let him go to jail in California for what he did there and hope that he never gets out. But the media is in some sort of feeding frenzy, frothing at the mouth over the fact that Karr wasn't charged in that particular case.

Sheesh. Give it a rest, people. The case isn't closed.

Let me second this

Pat Buchanon is not a (R)epublican, he just plays one on TV.

He dropped out of the party to run as a 'Progressive' yet the TV pundits allow him to misrepresent himself as a "Conservative" so they can make the dismissive Strawman arguments.

Pat Buchanon does NOT speak for me, or Conservatives, or Republicans and the use of him is a transparent attempt to misrepresent the positions of Conservatives and Republicans.

You want to know the easiest way to tell if a TV news show is flat out bullshit? Just look to see who they have on as the token "conservative". If it's Pat Buchanan, you can be assured that the show is bullshit and flip to another channel. Buchanan hasn't been a Republican for years. Hell, he hasn't been considered a true conservative for decades by now. And yet he's brought in as if he's some great expert on conservatives in general and Republicans in particular, when in truth he's so far removed from the modern conservative movement and the Republican party that his statements are outright laughable.

So DANE, I second your opinions on Buchanan. Just for the record.

"Why we don't trust you"

Mary K. Ham has a post up with that very title. Look, at this point I don't trust a single media story out of any of the mainstream media groups. I'd sooner trust the ravings of a drug-addled nutcase in Westlake Center in Seattle than a story or poll from ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN at this point. But what really drives me nuts is the fact that the Has Been Media continue to try to refute the charges. They're like kids who you just caught with their hand in the cookie jar, and instead of fessing up that they did indeed steal those gingersnaps, they're standing there saying "Nonsense! I'm the most trustworthy kid in the world, and I can't believe you would say that I'm stealing cookies!" while their grubby, sticky little fingers are still wrapped around the snickerdoodles in the fucking cookie jar!

I can't figure out which is worse: The outright tools in the MSM, or the tools who actually believe them.

I'd like to be surprised....

Really, I would. But I'm not.

IDF forces from the Golani Brigade blasted open a Hizbullah bunker overnight Saturday some 400 meters from the security fence near Rosh Hanikra, it was reported on Sunday. The bunker was discovered a mere stone's throw from a UN post.

According to Lt.-Col. Jassem Elian, a senior officer in the Golani Brigade, "Hizbullah dug a 40-meter by two-kilometer pit, in which they built dozens of outposts."

Elian added that the bunker had "shooting positions of poured concrete," and that the combat posts inside were equipped with phone lines, showers, toilets, air ducts, and emergency exits, as well as logistical paraphernalia for Hizbullah.

Note my emphasis. Tell me, did UNIFIL happen to be away for a day while Hizbullah POURED CONCRETE FIGHTING POSITIONS????

Is there any reason what so ever to keep this farce with the UN running? Nope.

Purposely ignorant

Christoper Hitchens vs. Bill Maher's audience. Go read, or go download the video. It's yet another example of how Leftists will ignore what is right in front of their faces and focus on wholly imagined or made up memes.

Gah.

Sheesh

OK, I might as well get around to mentioning this story about raccoons invading Olympia, WA, since everyone else in the Blogosphere has done so. I first saw it at Random Nuclear Strikes. Kim du Toit had to close his comments on the subject.

Bottom line is this: If you want to see a perfectly good example of bed-wetting, whinging, crybaby, can't-do-jack-shit-without-help Leftism, go read that story. "Oh help us! 'Coons ate my kitty-cat! I need a group so that I can mourn and heal! Woe is us! Whatever will we do!?"

Jebus-H-Christ-on-a-POGO-STICK! What gets to me is that people are actually SURPRISED AT THIS! Like, "Oh gosh, I can't believe that the same festering shithole that produced Rachel "St. Pancake" Corrie would be a hellhole of Leftist sissy pondscum. Who woulda thunk it?" Or like "Gee, the same city that refused to let it's namesake, the USS Olympia, dock because it was a 'ship of war' can't deal with a simple raccoon problem. I wonder why?" Hell, I'll give you an answer: The people of Olympia are nothing more than the bottom of the political genepool. Socialists, Communists, Greens, and Democrats (redundancy alert!) who whine and seeth that SOMETHING needs to be done by SOMEBODY! But that SOMEBODY is always SOMEBODY ELSE, because god knows they can't do jack squat on their own! These people probably can't tie their shoes without a government funded study on shoe-tying. They are incabable of living unassisted, having given control of their lives to the ever-growing nanny state, and demanding that we do the same. They are not so much human has sacks of meat walking around begging for a puppetmaster to handle their strings. Anyone who thinks that these so-called people can actually deal with a simple raccoon problem on their own is smoking crack. We're not dealing with rational adults in Olympia, we're dealing with overgrown children and mental midgets who find the simplest tasks impossible unless they have governmental help. Hell, that's half the reason they're in Olympia to begin with! So that they can pressure the WA state government to help them with x, y, or z!

Piss on all of 'em. I enjoy listening to their wails. My only hope is that a real child doesn't get hurt.

There, I've put out my two cents on that subject.

Whoa...

I think he's a bit preturbed!

At this late stage of the game, debate is no longer a civic virtue. Now it's carping, sniping from the sidelines, weaselly nit-picking, and -- yes -- unpatriotic. When you mouth those faux "just because I..." formulations that Democrat political hacks spew like spit takes in a Three Stooges Looney Tune, you reveal yourself to be not only unpatriotic, but a gullible fool, who unthinkingly spouts the most recent thing he hears.

Ah-yup. He's ticked.

More please...

Need your good daily dose of common sense? DANEgerus has a loooooooong excerpt of Mark Styne that needs to be read. I'm not going to quote it, because there isn't one part that can be quoted. You have to read the whole thing. Just scroll down until you get to Mark Styne's part of the transcript.

OK, fine, I'll quote one paragraph:

Let me give a small example of the wrong way of looking at things. It’s not life threatening, but if you don’t understand the philosophy that underpins it, it can become life threatening. In your nation and in mine, many people have acknowledged, and indeed even boasted, that immigration changes our country. For example, in Australia, and to a lesser extent in Canada, there are a lot of people who wish to replace the monarchy with a republic and there are respectable arguments for and against the monarchy. But the dangerous argument is the lazy line pedalled by too many politicians that in an Australia or a Canada of evolving immigration patterns, an immigrant from Moldova or China or Brazil or Saudi Arabia can’t be expected to relate to the Queen, to the existing constitutional system. Now try this line the next time you’re in Saudi Arabia: if you immigrate to Saudi Arabia and say ‘hey man, I just can’t relate to the House of Saud, and what’s with this Wahhabism, can’t we get a couple of sports bars with wet t-shirt nights every Thursday’? The Saudis would have a grand old laugh about it and then behead you. So when we accept that argument, in essence we’re explicitly promoting the principle of reverse assimilation; that immigration imposes not the obligation that the immigrant assimilate to his new land, but that his new land assimilate to him. And thereby lies great peril, not for the Queen, she’ll get by, but for a whole bunch of the rest of us. Multiculturalism makes a nation no more than a holding pen, its whole merely the sum of its parts. And so in the absence of cultural confidence, demography will decide. Or in the superb summation of the American writer James C. Bennett, ‘democracy, immigration multiculturalism … pick any two’.

Now go read! And spread it around.

Macaca Bruhaha

There's been a lot of screaming over George Allen's "macaca" statement that he made a while back. While the Donks try to couch their arguments in as wildly varied styles as possible, each one boils down to one core statement that they're trying to make. To paraphrase:

"GEORGE ALLEN IS A RACIST! EEEEEEEEEEEEEK! BOOGYMAN!"

What to they base this argument on? Well, there's the whole "macaca" thing, and there's the fact that a while back, Allen owned a Confederate flag.

Oooooooo-kay. That's all they've got?

The same party of Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson, the same party of Al "Jews are Diamond Merchants" Sharpton, the same party as Robert "Grand Kleagle" Byrd, is trying to label George Allen as a racist.

A Republican president made Colin Powel SecState. The Democrats called him an "Uncle Tom".

A Republican president made Condoleza Rice SecState. The Democrats called her a "House Nigger".

A Republican president made Alberto Gonzales, a Hispanic, the AG. Who was Clinton's AG again? Oh, right. Janet Reno, quite possibly the whitest woman on the face of the earth.

The Republicans are running Lt. Gov. Steele in Maryland for a Sentate seat. The Democrats call him an "Oreo" and throw cookies at him.

But because Allen once owned a Confederate flag, he's a racist. Yeah. Why don't you run with that, Dimocrats? Keep it up. See you in November.

Chilling

Cap'n Jim has taken a little perusal of some documents that detail the Clinton's plans to disarm America. Here's a money quote:

"We are going to do to [the gun industry] what we did to tobacco. It's going to be a very large war."

Democrats: The party of gun control. The party of disarming America. The party that shits all over the 2nd Amendment every chance it gets.

Just keep that in mind come November. And factor in that some Leftists are once again trying to fly the "GUNS CAUSE CRIME!" flag. If the Leftists ever get back into power, you can watch all our gains in the 2nd Amendment area get cut away. Scratch a Democrat, find a dictator.

Music sooths the savage beast

I'm listening to Aaron Copland's "Fanfare for the Comman Man" right now. I think if there was a quintessential sound for America, this would be the song. Bold, brassy, just a powerful sound that hits you at the right moment.

I don't think I can explain just now much music effects me on an almost genetic level. I think that's half the reason my music collection looks like a schizophrenic's hallucination. I've got everything except rap. From Copland, to Thenonius Monk, to Disturbed, I've got CD's from almost every imaginable music style. And every CD I have is because at least one of the songs managed to produce an almost overpowering emotion in me. To laugh, cry, scream or relax, or sometimes all of the above.

Even though my parents weren't the most musically talented people, they managed to raise me surrounded by music from the time I was born. I took piano lessons at an early age, tried my hand at the violin for a year, and eventually settled on percussion. In highschool I found out I could sing, and so I was in two choirs as well as the Concert Band by my senior year. I was also singing in my church choir until I left my hometown. Hell, I'm the de-facto director of my church choir right now until someone with real experience takes over the job. I'm the kind of guy who will get a song stuck in his head and it'll stay there until I find it and play it on my stereo once or twice. I've bought a couple of CD's that way. "Oh, THAT'S the song! Honey, I'm buying this!"

I can hear you saying "Yo, Dave, what's with this heart-pouring-out thing? Shut the hell up and rage!" I'll get around to it. But this whole post was started when I was searching for a song I'd heard in a movie, and stumbled across this page. It's a tribute to a beautiful woman, and it has the song I was looking for. "A Welsh Lullaby". Why point it out? Hell, I don't know. Maybe because a song that good needs to be heard. You can listen from the page, or download it as an MP3. I guarantee, you've heard this song before, you just might not have known the name of it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have "Panis Angelicus" running through my head, and I need to go find a recording of it.

Piling on the Left

Over the past few weeks, there has been more damning evidence come out against the Left and what it proclaims to stand for than I can count. Hell, half the time I feel like I'm on information overload. "What? They did WHAT? How? When? Crap, they did it again! Didn't they learn the first time?"

This just adds to that pile.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry was delegated to investigate who knew what about corruption in the U.N.'s oil-for-food program in Iraq. The report has now been made public by a Swedish radio station. It says that Ole Kolby, Norway's U.N. ambassador at the time and head of the sanctions committee, knew about the program's corruption but "remained quiet for fear of angering Iraq and big companies involved in the program."

In short, they knew there was some backdoor hankey-pankey going on with Saddam and several countries, but the didn't let anyone know what they knew for fear of upsetting people.

Huh? Gosh, for people who claim to care about the rule of law (I mean, this is the group that was screeching about "International Law" for months leading up to the invasion of Iraq) they really play fast and loose with the facts when it suits their politics, don't they?

This is reminiscent of the recent admission by Kevin Drum, a rather prominent liberal, especially on the web, that he refrains from writing about the threat posed by Iran because doing so would help the Bush administration. One wonders how much of the "reality" reported in the news is influenced by the determination of both politicians and journalists not to mention the facts that tend to support the reasonableness of, and necessity for, the Bush administration's policies.

Um, yep. At this point, nothing that comes out of the Left should be taken as the truth until it's been double, triple, and quadruple checked by at least three people. They can't be trusted to tell the truth at all until it suits their politics, and most of the time you can't even trust them then.

Also, Mr. Volokh comments on the decline of Amnesty International. (Via Instapundit)

"[In a report accusing Israel of war crimes, Amnesty International] accused Israel of applying an overly broad interpretation of what constituted a military objective when it attacked power plants, bridges, main roads, seaports and Beirut's international airport, all of which are 'presumed to be civilian.'"

"Presumed to be civilian". Tell me, are the terrorists also "presumed to be civilian" since they don't wear uniforms and operate out of civilian centers? Volokh comments thusly:

I'm no military expert, but every book, movie, documentary, etc., I've ever seen on war assumes that at least bridges [how many WWII movies have a scene focused on taking a bridge?], roads and seaports are important military targets, and in modern times I'd have to put airports on that list, too. The idea that a country at war can't attack the enemy's resupply routes (at least until it has direct evidence that there is a particular military shipment arriving) has nothing to do with human rights or war crimes, and a lot to do with a pacifist attitude that seeks to make war, regardless of the justification for it or the restraint in prosecuting it [at least if it's a Western country doing it], an international "crime."

Bridges, roads, seaports and airports, when used to resupply an attacking force, no longer are "civilian". By their very use, they have become military targets. Much like using a hospital, school or religious building as a base of military operations allows the destruction of those buildings under the Geneva Convention, when you use an object for military purposes you make it a military target. This is basic level, privates-learn-this-in-basic-training kind of stuff. The fact that an agency supposedly devoted to protecting civilians can't even bother to read the damn Geneva Conventions and learn what is and is not permitted speaks volumes about that agency.

But then, I'll give a shit about world opinion when they focus on holding terrorists accountable more than they focus on condemning Israel.
