You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once. - Robert A. Heinlein -

The Dimocrat's Problems
Considering that the Dimocrats are the most corrupt asshats in America, the voters who put them in power should have seen this coming. God knows people have them enough warning.
All of this re-enforces the point that the Dimocrats did not win this election; the Stupid Party lost it. But now the chickens are coming home to roost for the American Socialists.
Twist in the wind, you corrupt bastards. I'll be taking aim at you for the next two years.
Pelosi apparently wants to prove herself as worse than mediocre before taking the gavel from Hastert. I called Murtha an unforced error on Tuesday, and the more Murtha speaks publicly, the more obvious this becomes. Murtha is almost incoherent when on camera; he makes a terrible public face for the party. Murtha's power comes from his legendary ability to maneuver pork as rewards for allies and punishment for opponents, the exact kind of politics that Democrats claimed to oppose in the midterms last week.
And then there's Alcee Hastings, the man Pelosi wants to replace Harman as Intel chair. I started writing about Hastings in June, when his name first got floated as the potential chair for this committee, and I've mentioned him a few times since. Murtha might represent old-fashioned pork politics, but Hastings actually was corrupt enough to get impeached and removed from the federal bench -- by a Democratic Congress. If Murtha was an unforced error, Hastings is an embarrassing example of Pelosi's judgment. She needs the support of the Congressional Black Caucus to get elected Speaker, and they want Hastings to succeed Harman, if Harman doesn't get the chair. Pelosi can't afford to alienate them any further after she had the audacity to ask William Jefferson to resign from his committee assignments after the FBI found $90,000 in his freezer.
All of this re-enforces the point that the Dimocrats did not win this election; the Stupid Party lost it. But now the chickens are coming home to roost for the American Socialists.
Democrats are in a bad position. They can't afford to throw Pelosi under the bus after promoting her as the first woman Speaker in American history. They can't afford to have Hastings and Murtha in leadership positions and then face the voters in 2008 who wanted reform and change. They can't afford to undermine her authority and openly campaign for the reversal of Hastings' appointment and the failure of her Murtha endorsement.
Twist in the wind, you corrupt bastards. I'll be taking aim at you for the next two years.
Now this is what I call a good idea.
When a town council respectfully suggests that all households own a handgun and learn how to use it. The actual ordinance:
I wish all the towns in America would do this. I really do.
“In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, it is recommended that every head of household residing in the city limits maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore, and obtain appropriate training relating to proper, safe and lawful handling of firearms.”
I wish all the towns in America would do this. I really do.

They refuse to learn
This is the end.
The end of any support from me to the Republicans. The end of the Republicans as a national party. The end of any hope of the Republicans learning a g-d damned thing other than how to self-destruct.
I cannot believe these ignorant pieces of shit held together for as long as they did, because they've proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are the most worthless, money-grubbing, power-for-power's sake group of asswits, jack-offs, morons and parasites, second only to the Dimocrats. Fuck them. Fuck them all.
Stop supporting the Republicans, people. Stop sending money. Stop voting for them. Stop giving them any reason to exist as a national party, because they DO NOT REPRESENT YOU! They DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU! Cut them off, let them die. They deserve it. They are nothing more than Dimocrats dressed in RINO clothing. They need to die off so that a real conservative party can exist.
The sooner the Republican party is demolished, the sooner we can get back to putting this country back on track. Until then the Republicans are just another obstruction, part of the problem. They've just shown us that they will never be part of the solution.
LET THEM DIE!
WASHINGTON - Mississippi Sen. Trent Lott, ousted from the top Senate Republican leadership job four years ago because of remarks considered racially insensitive, won election to the No. 2 post Wednesday for the minority GOP in the next Congress.
Lott returned to the center of power by getting the position of vote-counting GOP whip, nosing out Sen. Lamar Alexander. Sen. Rick Santorum told reporters that Lott beat Alexander by a 25-24 vote.
The end of any support from me to the Republicans. The end of the Republicans as a national party. The end of any hope of the Republicans learning a g-d damned thing other than how to self-destruct.

Gotta love those Liberal "Values".
By the way, where is our new Speaker of the House from? Oh, right.
Pardon me, I need to go vomit at the thought of the anti-military communists who will soon be in charge of Congress.

Can't say I'm surprised
I mean, who gives a shit about valor, honor, duty, and courage at the NYT when there's Bush to be defeated and Dimocrats to support?
They're not anti-war, their anti-American. They work for the enemy, and do their best to demoralize the US and our allies.
We need to stop letting the moonbats define the debate, and call them what they are.
November 14, 2006 -- The nation's highest honor for combat valor was awarded posthumously to a U.S. Marine from upstate New York on Friday - and The New York Times didn't notice.
It was a shameful act of neglect, though not surprising in the least.
"As long as we have Marines like Cpl. [Jason] Dunham, America will never fear for her liberty," a clearly moved President Bush said at the dedication of the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Va.
It was only the second MOH awarded in the Iraq war, and it was major news everywhere - especially in New York.
But . . . not a word in the Times
They're not anti-war, their anti-American. They work for the enemy, and do their best to demoralize the US and our allies.
We need to stop letting the moonbats define the debate, and call them what they are.

Ain't this the cutest pic?
I mean, just look!
What better picture of the Dimocrats could you have but those anti-American communist cluster-fucks?
Get ready for two years of my vitrol, folks. Because it ain't getting any better from where I'm sitting.
JFKerry(D) left in the lurch by Charles Schumer (D-NY), who send (D)emocrat party operatives to illegally pull financial records on (R)epublican candidates...
'Dirty' Harry Reid(D), one of the most corrupt congressman in Washington...
Patty 'Osama Mama' Murray(D), who was featured on video in a high school telling our youth that Osama provides 'health care' and was so arrogant she refused even the token pose of returning Abramoff Money.
The "Dick" Durbin(D), who called our boys... Nazis.

A Damn Good Question
From Jules Crittenden.
I'm praying that the Surrender-Monkey Defeatocrats don't get their wish. But I'm getting a sick feeling in my stomach every time I hear what the Defeatocrats open their mouths.
They've been screaming "VIET NAM!" for years, despite all evidence to the contrary. Now I'm afraid that they're going to turn Iraq into Viet Nam just to say that they were right. And the blood of our troops will once again be spent for no damn reason, other than to satisfy the political wishes of a corrupt, foul, anti-American group of communists and traitors known as "Democrats".
Thomas Jefferson would vomit if he saw what the Party he helped create has turned into.
America is unique in history, a world power that spent precious blood and treasure not to subjugate but to liberate. The United States is the standard bearer of liberty, democracy and free enterprise - the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
How many times can a great nation retreat from inferior forces and remain great? If its people won’t fight for what they believe in, then of what worth are that nation’s values?

Town does what Feds will not
As in, take measures to curb illegal immigration.
Look, to me immigration is a very simple thing. You can come to this country. You can work here. You can apply to be a citizen. But by god, you had better follow the damn laws and sign the guest book on your way in. If you can't even bother to follow the law, then I don't want you here.
LEGAL immigration is welcomed. ILLEGAL immigrants can get the hell out. And if that offends people, too damn bad.
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas — This Dallas suburb became the first Texas city to pass tough anti-immigration measures, prompting fears they could lead to sanctioned discrimination and racism.
City Council members unanimously approved fines for landlords who rent to illegal immigrants, making English the city's official language and allowing local authorities to screen suspects in police custody to check their immigration status.

Why, those filthy bastards!
Where's the outrage? Where's the anger? I mean, look at all the POLLUTION!
Maybe Barbara Streisand or Al Gore will fly in on their private jets to condemn those nasty polluters!
The film and television industry and associated activities make a larger contribution to air pollution in the five-county Los Angeles region than almost all five other sectors researched, according to a two-year study released Tuesday by the University of California at Los Angeles.
Although Hollywood seems environmentally conscious thanks to celebrities who lend their names to various causes, the industry created more pollution than individually produced by aerospace manufacturing, apparel, hotels and semiconductor manufacturing, the study found.
Only petroleum manufacturing belched more emissions.
Maybe Barbara Streisand or Al Gore will fly in on their private jets to condemn those nasty polluters!

Uneasing things on TV
Firstly: Michael Steele on C-SPAN, letting Donna Brazile get away with characterizing the "Haroold, call me!" commercials as race baiting. In fact he was nodding agreement.
Secondly: Howard Dean, when asked by Tim Russert what the Democrats plan to do about Iraq, said something like "Well that's up to the Commander in Chief."
Sheesh.

I have to pass this along
Because you need news like this to remind you that life isn't all bad.
A fifteen year old girl who taught herself to play the bugle so that she could properly honor fallen veterans.
If there's a hope for this country's future, it's in the hearts and minds of young people like her.

On the day they buried Beecher Pierce, Nichelle Cushing stood at parade rest in a cold, pounding rain, some hundred yards from the coffin. High-top, lace-up boots slightly apart. A black beret cocked with formal precision on her hair. A small American flag pinned near the neck of her long black dress. One hand behind her back, the other gripping a 105-year-old bugle.
As Pierce's Masonic brothers concluded the rites, a gun squad of airmen in dress blue uniforms raised their rifles. Three volleys echoed across Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
Nichelle brought her boots together, shut her eyes, drew her full 5 feet and 1 inch to attention, raised the bugle to her lips and sounded the nation's final tribute to a fallen hero -- taps.
The 15-year-old Palmer High School sophomore never met Pierce, an 80-year-old widower when he died Aug. 13 in Anchorage. She only knew he was a military veteran and thus deserved to have the traditional "lights out" signal played at his funeral and to have it played by a living, breathing human being.
"I feel our servicemen should be buried with an actual bugler," she said, "not a recording."

A few thoughts on the election
From the master of conservative writing.
I'm writing each and every one of my congresscritters today to let them know one very simple fact: Republicans did not lose the way they did because they held on to their conservative ideals. They lost because the Republicans acted like the Dimocrats, and alienated the very people who voted for them in the first place. Via Instapundit:
We need to let the Republicans know that if they expect to win in 2008, they must return to the conservative principals they supposedly supported during the election years. Which means no more Denny Hastert protecting corrupt congresscritters. No more waffling on border security. No more "Well, mebbe we'll keep the tax cuts, but we'll vote on that later" bullshit. No more pork barrel politics that both sides of the political sphere practiced in recent years. Let's face the truth: Many of the Republicans in Congress were the very picture of what conservatives vote against, and it cost them. We have a chance to tell the Republicans exactly what they need to do in order to win elections, and I'm willing to bet that they'll be much more disposed to listen right now.
Yes, losing sucks. But rather than scream and yell and cry about it, we need to ensure that it doesn't happen again in 2008. Let's get cracking!
Perhaps I can add my thoughts to TVE's post below. Yes, the media controlled the debate. What did you expect? The MSM has been carrying the Dimocrats for years now. Without the biased reported from ABCCBSNBCCNNMSNBC, the Dimocrats wouldn't be capable of sniffing any seats in Congress. But what did the Republicans do when faced with this challenge? They just sat back and let it continue. The heavy lifting in the war of ideas wasn't done by any elected Republican, it was done by blogs, or talk radio, or other alternative media. It was very few and far between that an elected Republican came out and laid out THEIR thoughts. As the Dimocrats slung mud and crap everywhere they could, the Republicans did...... nothing. It wasn't until President Bush came out on the election trail and started asking "What plan, exactly, DO the Dimocrats have?" that people started to wake up and ask the same thing. What do you think would have happened if some Representative stood up a few months ago and asked that question? If the Dimocrats had been taken to task? "So, Ms. Pelosi, you have been criticizing the President for a while now. In plain words, what alternative plan do you have?"
The Dimocrats didn't have any plan they wanted regular Americans to know about, but nobody pushed that point until a few weeks before the election. That was a major foul-up, plain and simple.
So what's next? We lost some good people, plain and simple. But we also lost some dead weight. This isn't the end, so long as we work towards the next election. Let's clear out the trash in the next PRIMARIES, not general elections. And let's get the Republican party back to where they were in 1994, not 2006.
We have to accept the fact that the conservatives we sent to Congress in 1994 became the bloated, earmarking, tone-deaf toads of 2006. They thought they could do whatever they wanted, regardless of what their constituents think, and now they have been reminded of just who is working for whom. Remedying that sense of isolation and disconnect and unchecked power is why we have elections in the first place, and as to the consequences of it, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Over in Tim Blair's comment section, a guy named Dave S. said this:
"The Republicans lost and the Democrats won for the same reason -- they distanced themselves from their base. "
That's the sentence of the year, in my opinion.
We need to let the Republicans know that if they expect to win in 2008, they must return to the conservative principals they supposedly supported during the election years. Perfect As The Enemy Of The Good - A Dose of Reality
So Rs got thrashed for not being the conservatives they should have been? They never will be. Democrats have never been the leftists that leftists want them to be, but they are a far more loyal and forgiving group it seems. I've seen a lot of this type of excuse from Rs since Tuesday night. Mark my words, the narrative from here on out will be "Voters threw Republicans out because of the Iraq war". It will stick and no amount denial on our part will change that. That doesn't mean I think Republicans deserved to be thrown out because of the Iraq war. No way. People have unrealistic expectations of the Iraq war. They were constantly told that it was going poorly because Bush and Republicans couldn't make it better. Democrats were NEVER expected to step up and present an alternative vision that would meet their expectations of what constituted victory (which they defined as nothing short of absolute tranquility, Iraq without bloodshed), and if you think that is going to change, then you have forgotten the NUMBER ONE reason why conservatives have found themselves in the minority in congress and without representatives like Rick Santorum - the Media carries the water for the Democrat party. If you don't control the debate, you don't win in the realm of ideas. Period. How much time did we spend debating how poorly Republicans performed as conservatives? Constantly. How much time did we spend debating how poorly Democrats were performing as their radical left wing base expects them to? We didn't. Oh sure there was a brief mention of this dynamic when Lieberman lost his primary to Nutroot Lamont, but that was the extent of it. Were any of the following issues solely Republican - corruption, earmarks, pork, Abramoff, improper dialogue with minor congressional pages? Hell no. But they were the issues that got the lions share of attention and Republicans were the only ones that were hounded relentlessly on them. Remember hurricane Katrina and the resulting chatter in congress? All the blame laid where? Ever see the video of the levee breaking? Probably not. It had been leaking at the location where it broke prior to the onset of the storm. The water did not flow out over the top of the levee system. The people most directly responsible for the tragic flooding were the local authorities. The rescue effort, when compared to previous rescue efforts, was nothing short of incredible. Yet! Blame Bush. Blame Republicans. On this and a meriad of other issues smug imbiciles like those at National Review endulged the idiotic accusations of Democrats and postulated half-hearted half-assed defenses for those who best represented them in government when they weren't conceding points to the opposition that should never have been conceded in the first place. The economy roared, and Democrats brayed about the Great Depression. And when Democrats weren't lying their ass off and denying us our successes they were virtually silent on the issues that would keep them from ever being elected. Now, however. More Anti-gun legislation? It's coming. Limits on partial birth abortion and abortion on demand or required parental consent? Try "federal funding for abortion". Despite the success of the Michigan referendum against race based preferences, I think it's safe to add the cause of creating a color-blind society to the ash heap as well. Democrat victim groups rest assured - you will retain your legally enshrined priveledge status. Tax rates? Increased! The global war on terrorism? Defensive posture. Think France. And Iraq? Cambodia. You think you've seen bloodshed there to date? You've seen nothing yet! America will disengage from areas desperately in need of a potent democratic ally. Iran? HAW! Sharpening Hezbollah's scimitars and eyeballing Israel as I type. North Korea? Our wasted bribe money will flow their direction yet again! They should start thinking of ways to spend it. The budget deficits that have been shrinking? Democrats will show you (or remind you) what "spending like drunken sailors" truly looks like. And the whole time this is happening, the Democrat Main Stream Media will lavish them with praise and affection. Casualties in Iraq will evaporate from the headlines and evening news reports after congress forces our withdrawal from Iraq, as will worries about the health of the military. Lessons? Know what lesson Republicans will learn? Be like McCain. Be more like Democrats. They win. I realize I'm bucking conservative punditry conventional wisdom regarding the "why" of our 2006 election losses and what the prudent way forward should be, but when we're still getting our asses kicked and Republicans are acting more and more like Democrats all while blustering about how we need to rededicate ourselves to the principles of the Contract with America, ask yourself where expecting perfection from Republicans has gotten us. Ask yourself if Democrats are discussing earmarks, pork, budget deficits, spending restraint, or limited government and if WE are discussing those things why they aren't having an impact on Democrat fortunes. You want a way forward? Lead. Fight harder. Stop expecting a limited number of elected Republicans to take the lead on every issue and fight the opposition party, the news media, and the entertainment industry on their own. We can't let Democrats and their Media continue to set the subjects, focus, or tone of the national debate. If we do, our status as the minority in government will be permanent. And cut the introspective crap.

Pelosi’s America...
Dems take the House
Get ready for two years of shrill screeching from Bela Pelosi and the other assorted anti-American communists in the Dimocrat Party.
The only good thing that can come from this is that the entire country can now see just how empty the Dimocrats are. No ideas. No plans, other than ramping up taxes, de-funding our military, surrendering the War on Terror, and attacking Republicans, and attempting to impliment their "progressive" agenda.
I don't know who I'm angry at more: The people who elected the Dimocrats, or the Republicans who screwed up so badly that they allowed the Dimocrats to make these gains. Let's hope this is a wake-up call for the Right. Hell, let's hope that this is a clue-by-four to the foreheads of every Republican in office.
And maybe next Primary season, we can effect some change to the Republican party.
