Well, my computer is fucked

I have a cheap Chromebook as a backup, which is how I'm typing this out right now.  Content may be limited a bit.

I have had both a decent Windoze laptop and this Acer Chromebook. The Chromebook is faster, more trouble free and on the whole for my purposes superior.

OTOH the Windoze machine could store info ON the unit which made some net activity much easier and any high-end computing power possible.

I suppose as with everything else it is relative - relative to what you mainly do. I use this for browsing, commenting and financial transactions. This unit reported 6 months ago that no further updates or security fixes would be forthcoming. Essentially this would indicate I must replace this. I don't want to - battery is fine and other than some nicks it works just fine. I have thought about it and will keep using this until the lack of updates becomes a real problem or the damn thing takes a shit.

My biggest problem with the Chromebook is the ergonomics. The thing is tiny. But we only paid a hundred bucks for it, so it'll do as a backup until my computer gets fixed.

Oh, and I can't use the Brave browser on it. You never realize how many ads are out there until you use a browser that doesn't block them.
