Why are Homosexuals so desperate for Bert and Ernie to be gay?

And they are desperate for it.  Even if the creator of Bert says they're not.

Master puppeteer Frank Oz, whom everyone remembers as Yoda in "Star Wars," publicly disputed Saltzman's claim from his Twitter account: "It seems Mr. Mark Saltzman was asked if Bert & Ernie are gay. It’s fine that he feels they are. They’re not, of course. But why that question? Does it really matter? Why the need to define people as only gay? There’s much more to a human being than just straightness or gayness."

Such a plain statement caused the gay crowd to go into a tizzy, furious that their gay narrative just got stopped.  But why?  Why such a desire to make two iconic puppets from a children's show fit into the gay narrative?

Well...  CHILDREN'S show.  From "The Last Closet"

What sets gay culture apart from straight culture is the belief that early sex is good and beneficial, and the sure knowledge (don’t think for a second that they DON’T know) that the only way to produce another homosexual is to provide a boy with sexual experiences BEFORE he can be “ruined” by attraction to a girl.

They know that homosexuals are not "born that way".  They are made.  What better way to help make more than to make a children's show into indoctrination?
