I must admit - I did OK in algebra. Loved Geometry. Got to advanced algebra and my eyes started crossing. Maybe it was the fact that I couldn't see any real-world applications for it that I would use. I mean, geometry, yeah, I use that all the time, even today. But you got into some of the more abstract rules and formulas, and unless I could see a way to use it my my life, my brain just didn't accept it. Maybe it was the teacher, maybe it was just the way my brain works.
I'll still give it a whirl. What the hell, let's see if I can still remember half the crap I've learned from decades ago.
