Oh Our Sweet Princess

Hahahahahaa!
This was made clear Friday, when Ahmadinejad, speaking in a provincial tour, called on the "international community" to end the conflict by "restraining Israel." This was strange coming from a man who, before the current fighting, had vowed to destroy Israel on more than a dozen occasions.
Heh. What a pansie!

Talkin' tough, then dressing up sweet for Kofi.

A DUBIOUS 'DISTRACTION'

Facing a Bleak Future

Ah well we all knew it would be that way when we voted for the AWOLChimp.

A profitable company is to shutter a factory it built in 1992 as part of a much-hailed visionary strategy to take advantage of technology. But now it is just a cost to be cut. Eight hundred jobs, many of them well-paying blue collar positions (supposedly an endangered species) will disappear, while managerial and professional jobs are being protected.
Rethuglicans strike again.

Downsizing the New York Times

Cue Tom Petty!

Stupid Pet Tricks

Hezbollah kills --> UN snoozes.

Jews get to killin' (disproportionately, natch) --> Annan calls for beefed-up U.N. force in Lebanon.

Good boy!

Brother, can you spare a dime?

Because it looks like the Army needs it.

FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas — A diversion of dollars to help fight the war in Iraq has helped create a $530 million shortfall for Army posts at home and abroad, leaving some unable to pay utility bills or even cut the grass.

In San Antonio, Fort Sam Houston hasn't been able to pay its $1.4 million monthly utility bill since March, prompting workers in many of the post's administrative buildings to get automated disconnection notices.

This just chaps my hide. The US Government spends billions upon billions of dollars on all kinds of programs. Most programs have had their budgets increased. And yet the military is still scraping by.

This either needs to be fixed soon, or you're going to see a huge failure of equipment and manpower in the near future.

Juan Cole is wee-weeing his pants because the President said "shit".

On his site he has a link to this book, which took me back to this.

Because they're better than anyone else

Judges are now allowed to pack pistols while on duty in New York.

So tell me, if judges are in such danger that they're allowed to pack a pistol while on the bench, in a courthouse, with some of the highest security you can find in a city, what about the rest of us poor bastards who have to live our lives without all the security enhancements? Try getting a concealed carry permit in NYC, and see what happens. I have a better chance of growing a third arm than getting a permit to carry concealed in New York.

But I guess those judges are more equal than us, eh?

Look, I'm not pissed because they're allowed to pack some heat, I'm pissed that they're allowed to carry while the plebes are told to fuck off on a daily basis. Yes, judges make some enemies, and in New York some of those enemies have a long reach. But I guarantee that there are parts of the city that are more dangerous than any courtroom could ever be, and the people who live there are not allowed to protect themselves with a handgun. But a judge is allowed to carry a concealed pistol while sitting in one of the most protected environments the city can provide.

To me, that's elitism, plain and simple. Anyone see it a different way?

Sunday talk shows: The Democrats were relentless today

It's all Bush's fault. The most common "meme" was that "we don't have the respect and partnership of other nations so we are powerless to influence what is happening in Lebanon".

Oy! Like maybe if we were better friends with France, Bush and Chirac could do a joint presser, and Hezbolla would stand down, thinking: "Holy shit! Jacques is pissed! Let's get back to tea!"

Ludicrous.

And then there was Joe Biden with Tim Russert, saying we need to get one on one with North Korea and say: "Hey Jack, this is the way it's gonna be."

No, he really did say "Hey Jack".

Twice.

Biden said we should get with North Korea one on one and tell them if they do the right things we won't mess with them but if they do the wrong things we will. And he was SERIOUS.

The crack squad at NBC didn't have the appropriate graphic ready, naturally.

Re: "Disproportionate"

French, Spanish, Russians, The Vatican, they've all used the word. Putin elaborates:

Putin, whose government has expressed concern about the region sliding into war, said he agreed that Hizbollah's actions were "absolutely unacceptable".

"This is all true, and in this context, we consider Israel's concerns to be justified," the Russian president said. But, he said, "the use of force should be balanced".
Paul at Power Line replies: "Call me naive, but I had always thought that the object in a military action was to employ disproportionate (i.e., more) force than the enemy."

I suggest you scroll around Power Line while you are there -- great stuff in the past two days regarding a number of topics including Lebanon, the Democratic Gubernatorial Primary in Maryland, and a notably slanted AP poll regarding the 2006 elections.

Oh, and one more thing

How much more fugged would this situation be if Saddam Hussein were still in power in Iraq?

Only a handful of dominoes remain

Way back in Feburary I blogged about Abqaiq, the massive Saudi petroleum processing facility through which a substantial portion of Saudi Arabia's substantial oil exports flow. See below.

Northeast of Abqaiq is the likewise massive oil terminal at Dammam. Both are roughly 300 miles from Iran's Persian Gulf coast.

Roughly 500 miles to the east is the Strait of Hormuz, "at its narrowest, 21 miles wide, having two 1 mile wide channels for marine traffic separated by a 2 mile wide buffer zone, and is the only sea passage to the open ocean for large areas of the petroleum exporting Persian Gulf States". The Strait is bounded on the north by Iran, and so I think we might all become intimate with it in the next sixty days.

See what I'm getting at?

I figure Syria and Iran have already joined in Lebanon (Hezbollah didn't build no UAV), but if they really join, well then America will join as well and that is when we all find ourselves in jeopardy as Iran could easily topple a domino across the Strait, which doesn't just mean expensive oil, it might mean, for hundreds of millions worldwide, no oil.

If the mullahs are on the losing end then they might take a stab at Abqaiq or Dammam, which would have no strategic value, but it seems clear that Radical Islam is engaged in economic warfare with the West moreso than they have engaged the West with bullets or other weaponry.

As the title states, I think only a handful of dominoes remain between where we are today and real worldwide economic strife, and maybe even catastrophe.

Melodramatic? Perhaps, but my guess is that just about every American combat aviator, in the next two weeks, will study the arena until he knows it like the back of his hand, right down to the turds of camels in the desert west of Bandar Abbas. Any move Iran makes on the Strait or the Saudis must result in an American response that is just plain wicked.

Musings on a gym workout, Part 2

OK guys, this one is for you.

If I had my way, I would remove every last floor to ceiling mirror in existance. You want to work out? Fine, get on those weights and pump some iron. But if you want to slooooooooooooooooowly pull that weight up so that you can admire your flexed biceps in the mirror, get out of the way so that some of us can finish our workout.

I know you like to socialize. I know you like to look at yourself. You show it every day. You probably have a mirror above your bed so that when your tiny little steriod-shriveled dick is being ridden by whatever floozy you convinced to come home with you, you can look up in that mirror and pretend that you're having sex with yourself, because you're just that damn SEXY!

Yeah. Right.

Listen up, meathead: Some of us people have lives. Real lives, with real people involved in them. And we'd like to go about our lives, including our workouts, but we can't, because you're monopolizing the damned curl bench with your narcissism. And while you're trying to impress Little Miss Bubblehead with your hormone-enhanced deltoids, the rest of us are waiting to use the bench you've parked out on!

Find somewhere else for your self-glorification. Let the rest of us work out so that we can get on with our day.

Shining Light On The Behavior Of Liars - Bumped Posts

I orginally posted this on October 28th, 2005:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

FIRST - POOR POOR POOR POOR POOOOOOOR Li'l Plame just wants her privacy:

WRONG!

Here we see a picture of the very very very shy valerie in the July Issue of Vanity Fair!

The photo was taken at the magazine's annual dinner for the Tribeca Film Festival, and Plame's and Wilson's fellow guests included Robert deNiro, Nicole Kidman, Barry Diller, Willem Dafoe, John McEnroe, and many others. A "low key social life" indeed! Poor poor poor pooor poooooooooor li'l Plame!

SECOND - Pooor Poooooooor Poooooor li'l Plame was not "Outed"

Since "Straight Shootin'" Fitzgerald won't touch the issue, let's ask our friends in the Main Stream Media whether Plame was a secret agent at the time Robert Novak "outed" her:

"The nation's largest news organizations and journalism groups" filed a brief in federal court Wednesday arguing that "a federal court should first determine whether a crime has been committed in the disclosure of an undercover CIA operative's name before prosecutors are allowed to continue seeking testimony from journalists about their confidential sources," the Washington Post reports:

The 40-page brief, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, argues that there is "ample evidence . . . to doubt that a crime has been committed" in the case, which centers on the question of whether Bush administration officials knowingly revealed the identity of undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame in the summer of 2003.

But don't take their word alone. Authors of the Law Say No Law Broken – Plame Doesn’t qualify

THIRD - Bush's 16 words were WELL FOUNDED:

The British government yesterday bolstered President Bush's assertion that Iraq sought uranium from Niger, casting further doubt on former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV's claims to the contrary.
The conclusion was reached by Robin Butler, who once was Britain's top civil servant, in a major report on prewar intelligence that came five days after the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence reached a similar conclusion in its report.
Taken together, the British and U.S. reports appear to undermine Mr. Wilson's criticism of Mr. Bush, which led to a criminal investigation of the White House and made the retired diplomat a media darling.
"It is accepted by all parties that Iraqi officials visited Niger in 1999," the British report said. "The British government had intelligence from several different sources indicating that this visit was for the purpose of acquiring uranium.
"Since uranium constitutes almost three-quarters of Niger's exports, the intelligence was credible," the report added.
That buttressed an assertion by Mr. Bush in his 2003 State of the Union speech: "The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa."
Yesterday, the British report called that assertion "well founded." The report was cited by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who told Parliament: "It expressly supports the intelligence on Iraq's attempts to procure uranium from Niger in respect of Iraq's nuclear ambitions."
The State of the Union assertion rankled Mr. Wilson, who said he found no evidence of such an attempted purchase during a CIA-sponsored trip to Niger. Mr. Wilson arrived in the African nation in late February 2002.
"I spent the next eight days drinking sweet mint tea and meeting with dozens of people," he wrote in the New York Times 18 months later. "Niger formally denied the charges."

FOURTH- Why are we even having this debate? Because Joe Wilson, attempting to bolster his credibility, claimed that Cheney was responsible for sending him to Niger. That's a lie. It was his wife:

Wilson was on CNN's "American Morning" the day after his column ran, spinning his straw into golden fabrications:

HEMMER: It's a wonderful day for us here at American Morning! You went to Niger several years ago. You concluded essentially that Iraq could not buy this uranium from that country. Why not?

WILSON: Well, I went in, actually in February of 2002 was my most recent trip there — at the request, I was told, of the office of the vice president, which had seen a report in intelligence channels about this purported memorandum of agreement on uranium sales from Niger to Iraq.

The Senate Intelligence Committee also found that Wilson lied about the role played by his wife, Valerie Plame, in his trip to Niger. Wilson wrote in his book, ironically titled The Politics of Truth, "Valerie had nothing to do with the matter. She definitely had not proposed that I make the trip." In fact, however, the Committee reported at p. 4:
[D]ocuments provided to the committee indicate that [Wilson's] wife, a CPD employee, suggested his name for the trip. The CPD reports officer told Committee staff that the former ambassador's wife "offered up his name" and a memorandum to the Deputy Chief of the CPD on February 12, 2002 from the former ambassador's wife says, "my husband has good relations with both the PM [prime minister] and the former Minister of Mines (not to mention lots of French contacts), both of whom could possibly shed light on this sort of activity."
The former ambassador was selected for the 1999 trip after his wife mentioned to her supervisors that her husband was planning a business trip to Niger in the near future and might be willing to use his contacts in the region.

FIFTH - More Lies from Joe Liar Wilson (note: there are more than this even):

The Senate Intelligence Committee's report says about Wilson's trip to Niger - The following, at p. 8 of the report's "Niger" section:
The intelligence report based on the former ambassador's [Wilson's] trip was disseminated on March 8, 2002 ... The intelligence report indicated that former Nigerian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mayaki...said that in June 1999, [redacted] businessman, approached him and insisted that Mayaki meet with an Iraqi delegation to discuss "expanding commercial relations" between Niger and Iraq. The intelligence report said that Mayaki interpreted "expanding commercial relations" to mean that the delegation wanted to discuss uranium yellowcake sales.
When Wilson talked to the Committee's staff, he related a version of events that was different from the official CIA report that summarized his oral debriefing, and it also contradicted the recollections of the relevant CIA employees. The committee wrote, at p. 9 of its report:
When the former ambassador spoke to Committee staff, his description of his findings differed from the DO intelligence report and his account of information provided to him by the CIA differed from the CIA officials' accounts in some respects. First, the former ambassador described his findings to Committee staff as more directly related to Iraq and specifically, as refuting the possibility that Niger could have sold uranium to Iraq and that Iraq approached Niger to purchase uranium. The intelligence report...did not refute the possibility that Iraq had approached Niger to purchase uranium.
See also p. 38 of the report, where the Committee notes that most analysts understood Wilson's report from Niger as supporting the original CIA concerns about a possible uranium deal between Niger and Iraq.

And that's not all. The Senate committee also found that Wilson falsely leaked to the Washington Post the claim that certain documents purporting to show uranium sales between Niger and Iraq were forgeries because "the names were wrong and the dates were wrong," when in fact, he had never seen the documents and was not familiar with their contents. See p. 10 of the Committee's report:
Committee staff asked how the former ambassador could have come to the conclusion that the "dates were wrong and the names were wrong" when he had never seen the CIA reports and had no knowledge of what names and dates were in the reports. The former ambassador said that he may have "misspoken" to the reporter when he said he concluded the documents were "forged." He said he may have become confused about his own recollection....

To Sum up:

The Senate Intelligence Committee's report shows that:
1) Wilson lied in the New York Times about what he told the CIA after he returned from Niger. In fact, far from debunking the concern that Iraq may have tried to buy uranium from Niger, Wilson reported that Niger's former Prime Minister told him that Iraq had made just such an overture in 1999.
2) Wilson lied when he leaked a report to the Washington Post about documents he had not even seen.
3) Wilson lied when he said that his wife Valerie "had nothing to do with" his being chosen to go to Niger.

More to come....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

And I orginally posted this on November 3rd, 2005:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joe Wilson October 2003 on "Meet the Press":

"My wife has made it very clear that -- she has authorized me to say this -- she would rather chop off her right arm than say anything to the press and she will not allow herself to be photographed.".

The reason, said Wilson, is that "she's still employed" by the CIA "and has obligations to her employer."

Then in December of 2003.....2 MONTHS LATER:

October 2005:
BLITZER: Even though some of your supporters... they say your decision and your wife's decision to let her be photographed represented a major mistake because if there were people out there who may have been endangered by her name certainly when people might have seen her picture, they would have been further endangered.

WILSON: Her contacts and her network was endangered the minute Bob Novak wrote the article. The photograph of her did not identify her in any way anybody could identify.
To give you an indication of how effortlessly this guy lies, CNN was at that moment displaying the Vanity Fair photo of Wilson and Plame on a huge screen right behind him. So Wilson was asserting that no foreign intelligence service would be clever enough to see through the sunglasses-and-scarf "disguise" Plame is wearing in the photo.

WILSON: Let me just get this very clear. When one is faced with adversity, one of the ways that one acts in the face of adversity is to try and bring a certain amount of humor to the situation. It's called irony. And uh, if uh, people have no sense of humor or no sense of perspective on that, my response is it's about time to get a life. But in no way did that picture endanger anybody. What endangered people was the outing of her name, her maiden name, and subsequently the outing of the corporation she worked for...

BLITZER: So you don't have any regrets about the Vanity Fair picture?

WILSON: I think it's a great picture. I think...

BLITZER: It's a great picture, but I mean...

WILSON: I think someday it too will be in the International Spy Museum.

"HUMOR"!?! "IRONY"!?! What happened to "chopping off her right arm"?! I thought she was "still employed" by the CIA "and has obligations to her employer." "HUMOR"!?! "IRONY"?!?

July 2005:

"She's still employed" by the CIA "and has obligations to her employer." "She would rather chop off her right arm than say anything to the press and she will not allow herself to be photographed." "HUMOR" "IRONY"

Wait a tick! This poor poor poooooor woman's "cover" has been blown, her career is ruined.....right?

"She's still employed" by the CIA "and has obligations to her employer." Right?

"HUMOR"? "IRONY"?

BULLSHIT

Both are worth revisiting since we've recently learned that Rove will not be indicted, and Novak got Plame's name from the 2002 Who's Who in America. How is that for a compendium, Tim? :)

Now we wait to see how this plays out.

BEIRUT, Lebanon — Hezbollah fighters launched a raid into Israel and captured two Israeli soldiers Wednesday, triggering an Israeli assault with warplanes, gunboats and ground troops in southern Lebanon to hunt for the captives.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called the Hezbollah raid "an act of war" and held the Lebanese government responsible, vowing that the Israeli response "will be restrained, but very, very, very painful."

Hezbollah has been fighting a war against Israel, along with Hamas, and other countries through the terrorist organizations. It was only a matter of time before Israel was forced to retalliate.

Honestly, I hate to say it, but the best thing for Israel is to simply go to war with the countries that are supporting the terrorists. It's not nice, it's not pretty, but I think that is was is needed for Israel to be allowed to exist unmolested.

And that sucks. But Israel has been nice for too long, and it's about time that they finally reached the point where they won't take any more crap from genocidal terrorists hell-bent on destroying their country.

I loathe the "race card", but...

...I tuned to cable news, including Fox, MSNBC, and CNN, several times tonight and there was very, VERY little coverage of Mumbai. Fox was talking Bill Keller, MSNBC was talking budget deficit, CNN (heh) was talking about Robert Novak. The bombings in Mumbai that claimed 147 lives, it appears, are going to get about 1/10th the coverage of the London bombings that killed 52 just one year ago.

What can one glean from that?

Question

"Are the people who bombed trains in India, killing over 150 people, possessive of the rights of signatories to the Geneva Conventions, Justice Ginsburg?"

Another State sees the light

And simply says, "If you're a criminal breaking into a house in Mississippi, the owner can shoot you without a hassle"

The safety valve for the "Castle doctrine" is for burglars, crackheads, carjackers, strong-arm robbers, muggers, rapists, thieves and other assorted boils on the butt of humanity to stay out of homes, cars, stores, offices and other domiciles that don't belong to them and to stop mugging, robbing, raping and stealing.

Those who utilize that course of action aren't terribly likely to be shot. Those who don't likely will be.

Ah, the simple concept that the pants-wetting gun-grabbers simply cannot comprehend. If you don't break into a person's house, you won't get shot.

In short, if you're not a criminal, you don't have to worry.

The "Castle doctrine" should serve notice on those who choose a life of crime that the consequences of that choice may prove dire indeed - and that potential victims may indeed "shoot first and ask questions later."

Again, there's a safety valve for those criminals. It's called not breaking the law in the first place.

I've got a big grin on my face right now.

Objectification Pontification

Heh. Dave's post reminds me that I owe the crowd a note re: catheterization and objectification. It also reminds me that most women who object to objectification of women are women who would barely be objectified by a blind man on mushrooms.

It also reminds me of Kos.

Random Musings from a Gym Workout

So, all us guys know that we're not supposed to objectify women, right? Right.

So please tell me this: Why is it, that after decades of women saying they don't want to be objectified, do women walk into a weight room wearing pants so tight that I can tell if she's clean shaven or not, and proceed to use the hip-flexor machine? Legs spread, legs closed, legs spread, legs closed, all while wearing a lip-biting expression that says "YES, YES, YES!"

You wonder why men in this country are so screwed up? I don't. Not anymore. It's the sexual frustration caused when women's words and actions constantly contradict themselves. Modern society is pretty damn messed up. "I AM NOT A SEXUAL OBJECT" + clothing that clearly delineates the pubic region = Messed up. "DO NOT LOOK AT MY BREASTS!" + clothing that clearly shows the size, shape, and relative color of your nipples = Messed up.

Don't get me wrong, if women want to wear tighter-than-painted-on-latex clothing while performing exercises that mimic a sexual act, that's fine and dandy with me. That may even encourage more men to go to the gym. Just don't do it and then complain about being objectified.

I expect pissed off comments tomorrow. But honestly, I don't really care at this point. I know that there are women who behave much more modestly than the women I'm currently around, so if my little rant doesn't apply to you, please don't take it as such.

And guys, don't think I'm letting the male gender off to easily. That's just a rant for another day.

The Judge Came Back

...and there's gonna be trouble. Hey na, hey na, the judge came back!

WASHINGTON — A federal judge on Monday upheld the FBI's unprecedented raid of a congressional office, saying that barring searches of lawmakers' offices would turn Capitol Hill into "a taxpayer-subsidized sanctuary for crime."

Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas F. Hogan rejected requests from lawmakers and Rep. William Jefferson to return material seized by the FBI in a May 20-21 search of Jefferson's office.

At this point, I say search the offices of every damn congresscritter. They're all so damn corrupt that only a complete extermination of all the parasites can turn it around in any kind of quick measure.

Hell, if it works in congress, I say it's guilty by association. I wouldn't trust a congresscritter to wipe it's own as without finding a way to steal tax dollars for some pet project (or in the case of congresscritter Jefferson, a way to turn tax dollars into bribery cash for his own pocket).

Plus, I like the thought of congresscritters looking over their shoulders while they funnel tax dollars into their pockets. Let them know that we're finally tired of this crap.

Sick. Just plain sick.

Who in God's green earth would rape an ELEVEN YEAR OLD GIRL???

Police said Monday that more arrests are likely in a rape case involving an 11-year-old girl who may have been attacked by as many as 10 men.

Two arrests have been made in the Saturday attack, and officials said they have identified eight others as persons of interest. Most or all are students at either Fresno City College or Reedley College, police said.

Now, should I ever become a parent (the wife and I are in discussion about that, and have been for the past two years) and my little girl was raped by as many as 10 men, I can guarantee you one thing - I would do my best to ensure that the people who attacked my girl would never get a chance to go to trial.

Because they'd be six feet under before the trial date.

Kee-RIST! Eleven years old! ELEVEN!

If they're found guilty, I say give them a full castration, and I mean take EVERYTHING off, and then lock them up for the rest of their lives.

North Korea is China's dog. And if China doesn't want to keep their dog on a short leash, then the countries threatened by that dog will take steps to deal with it themselves.

Japan on Monday was considering a pre-emptive strike against North Korea's missile bases, signaling a firm stance before a possible U.N. Security Council vote on sanctions against the communist-led country.

When Japan is looking into the possibilities of a pre-emptive strike, you know that people are sick of Kimmy Dimmy Ding Dong's bullshit. China needs to understand that we, meaning the USA and our allies, are not amused.

I still say that we tell the ChiComs this: Any more missile tests, and we will arm any and all of our allies within that missile's range with nuclear weapons.

Watch how fast China pulls their dog in.

Why is this news?

I don't know what movie it's from, (hell, it's been used in dozens of movies) but there's a line, normally spoken with a massive New York accent, that goes:

"Hey, you mess wit da bull, sometimes you get da horns, yaknow?"

Or let me put it this way: If you choose to sprint in front of a one-ton animal that can run at high speeds, possesses rather large, sharp horns and a really bad attitude, then at some point someone is going to have a few large holes appear in random order in their body.

And yet it makes the news year after year. "BULL GORES RUNNER!" "DOG BITES MAN!" "THE SKY IS BLUE!" "WATER IS WET!" "ALGORE IS AN ANIMATRONIC ROBOT!"

We already know these things. Is it just a slow news day?

I don't feel sorry for Deb at all

I've been watching Protein Wisdom when I can, and Deb Frisch has shown to me what happens when a human being discards every scrap of morals they can and dives to the bottom of the sewers of their mind.

If Frisch has suffered because of what came about, it is self-inflicted suffering.

In the meantime, Shamil Basayev, who masterminded the Beslan massacre in Russia, has kicked the bucket.

I truly hope he's burning in hell right now. I know that God's forgiveness can make anything possible, but how you can forgive the wholesale slaughter of children is beyond me.

Trust me, the world wouldn't like it if I were the Holiest of Holies, I can tell ya that much.

On saving oil

Armed Liberal sesz there's no sea change required. To wit:

Six years ago, I needed a new car to replace the minivan I gave my ex- in the divorce. I had three sons, we camp and ski, and so the mandate was three rows of seats (so I don't have to Tase them too often on long trips) with space in back to put the plastic Tupperware boxes of gear that we travel with.

There were only three cars (plus several 12-passenger vans) that fit the requirement. Ford Excursion, Chevy or GMC Suburban, and a Honda Odyssey minivan.

Chancellor Dies

Denice Denton has died.

Denton was the Chancellor at UC Santa Cruz, hotbed of anti-military moonbattery.

Reason [Magazine] Online blames, in part, Michelle Malkin.

Did anyone else used to read Reason? I loved it when I first saw in ten years ago, but now it's just, well, ick.

Oh boy, I'm stealing that!

So I'm reading Protein Wisdom. Down in the comment section, one idiot named brooksfoe is showing his ass, and it gets spanked.

As I said, kid, a tin ear. You are articluate, but you don’t know much about the devices of rhetoric. Sullivan isn’t mentioning slavery and Rumsfeld in the same breath to create an objective, dispassionate impression. Only a naif would believe such a thing--and I grant you your poetic juxtaposition.

Jeff was merely pointing out that Sullivan’s increasingly left-wing spew undercuts whatever claims he may be making to ‘conservatism’ and objectivity.

Your worldview--as I’ve suggested before--is predicated on a dislike and distrust of the United States so deeply ingrained that you are not even aware of it. From this single attitude, all else in your “political philosophy” devolves. Yet, you examine yourself and find yourself to be a reasonable, liberal fellow. Logic, my ass. You are not the one to judge the quality of a logical argument. You haven’t the tools.

Yours is an attitude that is as repellent to others as it is to me. That’s where the hostility is coming from. You have no gift for perspective, knowledge of history or sense of the ebb and flow of life. You are a nihilist. You read neither broadly nor deeply. You do not interpret the things you have read very well. You cobble your arguments together from dry cuds left over from your school days and bits of hoary leftist propaganda you’ve collected from various fashionable, politically-caressed news sources. Contrary to what you may believe, you haven’t an original idea in your skull. You are a dupe, a tool and a useful idiot.

Yet, even that fails to prevent you from speaking arrogantly about issues of which you know virtually nothing and disparaging honorable people whose feet you are not fit to kiss.

I am so stealing that. There might be a better summation of Leftist ideology, but I haven't read it this month.

Nork Missiles launched

Yay.

Here's what pisses me off in all of this: North Korea is China's dog. Without China, North Korea would not even exist. Hell, without China, North Korea would never have come into creation. Kimmy Dimmy Ding Dong would fall quicker than a ten-dollar whore on payday if China simply said "Knock it off, you moron!"

But China is propping North Korea up, and I'm fairly certain they're encouraging the Norks to launch it's missiles, because it's making us rather uneasy. And in the Chinese government's eyes, that's a good thing. It's warmongering by proxy, and China holds the keys.

So if I were president, here's what I would do: Tell China, in no uncertain terms, that if they refuse to keep their dog on a short leash, we will arm every ally we have within Nork missile range with nuclear warheads. That means South Korea, Japan, and most importantly, Taiwan.

Let China throw it's fit, and tell them to go fuck off. And then start shipping missiles to those three countries, until China clamps a lid on North Korea.

It's time that we started playing hardball with those communist clusterfucks, because they've been playing it for decades while we've tried to be nice. And what did nice get us? North Korea with a nuke. Gee, that worked out well, didn't it? We're not dealing with a rational person, we're dealing with a half-pint commie filled with delusions of grandeur who has been selling weapons to anyone with cash for the past twenty or thirty years. Diplomacy doesn't work on the criminally insane. That's a proven fact. And Kim Jong Il is insane, make no doubt about it. He's nuts. Fucking loco. We need to stop treating him like he's an equal, and remind him that should the balloon go up, we can and will wipe any memory of him off the face of the earth. And let China know that should any hostilities take place, the Chinese would have US Army divisions right on their border within ten days.

If they don't like it, too bad.

But then, I'm not president. More's the pity.

And yes, I'm still typing this from an undisclosed location.

News that is fit to print

From the New York Times, 30 June 2006:

WTF???

Cartoons: Still Waiting

Gateway Pundit, impressed by the intrepid bravery of NY Times et al to print leaked stories re: Bush Administration anti-terror programs, invites NY Times et al to get really brave.

DANEgerus Roundup

DANEgerus has a nice roundup of NY Times / SWIFT polls and commentary. While it is pretty claer that the stoyr was a naked political offering to Democrats and other Bush Haters, I think I see nothing warranting prosecution of the Times here.

At the same time, I'd like to see the leakers found, tried, convicted, and, most importantly, stripped of their government pensions.

ALSO: Lichtblau: spinning, and busted.

No Internet notice

And for anyone who cares, the Puerto Rico Telephone Company is nothing more than a third rate craptastic group of incompetent shitnozzles.

After somehow losing the payments for the past two months, as well as still charging us for services we cut off three months ago, they had the gall to tell us that they would reconnect our phone sometime next week if we paid them a fee that was over one-hundred dollars. Y'know, to make up for the payments they lost, even though our bank statement says that they deposited our checks.

The Raging Mrs. lived up to the first part of her name. The person on the other end of the line was rather lucky that they were on the phone, rather than in person. I'm rather lucky as well, because had the conversation taken place face to face, I would have to find a place around here to dispose of one shredded body.

So the short short version is this: The Raging Mrs. told PRTC to fuck themselves with a chainsaw, which means we have no phone line. And since we can't get cable internet on post, we don't have any internet at our house. I'm typing this from an undisclosed location on post. In the meantime, we're trying to find some way of getting internet that doesn't require a phone line or cable. We thought we had found a company that could get us internet, but due to our location (or more importantly, due to the location of their broadcasting tower) that fell through. Needless to say, posts from me are going to decline in number for a while until we get this figured out.

But we will get it figured out, one way or another.

And now for some good news - the laptop stolen from a VA employee's house has been recovered.

WASHINGTON - Social Security numbers and other personal data on 26.5 million veterans and military troops were not copied from a Veterans Affairs computer missing for eight weeks, the FBI said Thursday.

The recovery of the laptop and external drive was a "positive note in this very sad saga," VA Secretary Jim Nicholson said.

Now, according to some of the reports I've seen, the employee had permission to take all that information home so that she could continue working. If that's the case, I want to see some heads way up high start rolling. But hopefully, none of the information was copied or removed.

Time will tell. The wife and I had a password installed on our bank account because of this. The tech we spoke with said that quite a few people had been doing that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Whatever it takes

Bomb them further into the stone age.

Level their power plants. Flatten their water supply. Destroy everything that allows them to function, until the terrorists give up the captured Israeli soldier.

And if they find the soldier dead, continue to flatten everything the terrorists have, until the terrorists can no longer attack Israel.

I have never understood the restraint Israel places on itself. They target as selectively as possible. They give up the Gaza Strip, for god's sake, hoping that the Palestinians will just leave them alone! But nothing works. Nothing works when the people you're dealing with are people in name only.

So if they don't want the carrot, give them the stick. And make damn sure it's a big stick.

Burn the ground and then salt it, so that no Palestinian can ever again use that land to attack Israel. As far as I'm concerned, until the Palestinians stop their terrorism against Israel, they have forfeited the right to live. If they cannot draw breath without using it to attack Israel, then prevent them from drawing another breath.

Is that nice? No. But the Palestinians have shown that they will only allow one group of people to survive. It is their own choice to attack. Israel should ensure that they never get the chance.

NEVER AGAIN!

There are some people....

There are some people out there that you just hate to meet, for whatever reason.

Some people don't know how to have any fun, as if laughter was something to be avoided. They don't know how to keep an interesting conversation going; they always interject something off-topic or smothering.

Some people have gone through life trying not to offend people by being PC, or by changing themselves to fit other people's perceptions. They try to be everything to everyone, and in doing so make themselves less, as if in assuming so many identities they have forgotten to forge their own.

Some people only say what other people want to hear, instead of saying the truth. Truth can be uncomfortable. Truth can be harsh and acidic. And thus, the truth can make some people fidget in their chairs and plug their ears.

Some people have run away from risks in life, staying in their comfort zone at all times, even when it means living a bland, average life. They've never experienced anything great, because they refuse to risk failing in their goal, and thus never even make it halfway to greatness.

Some people go through life doing what they're told, and never once saying "You know what? Screw you, I'm going to do what I want for once in my life!"

And then there are the other people. The other people that you love to meet, and try to surround yourself with.

These are the people who say what's on their mind, even when it might piss people off. They care more about the truth than your feelings, and even if they offend you in the process you're thankful that there's at least ONE person in the world who won't load you down with bullshit.

The other people not only know how to laugh and have a good time, they try to do it as much as they possibly can.

The other people are individuals to the core, and you know when you meet them that there ain't anyone else in the world quite like this guy or gal. Put twenty people in identical clothing and identical haircuts, and you can still pick those other people out, because the sheer act of fitting in with everyone else is so alien to them that they just can't do it.

The other people know that you don't get rich, or famous, or achieve greatness by sitting on your front porch bragging about what you did in highschool. You find the highest peak you can, and start climbing it, because the reward at the top of that peak is worth all the risks involved. And if you only made it halfway there, you can at least look down at all the miserable pukes who didn't even try, and pity them. Or tell them where the hand-holds are. Or both. What if the Wright Brothers said "Nah, too risky!'? What if the Pilgrims said "You know, Greenland should be good enough don't you think?" What if Christopher Columbus had said "Turn it around boys, it's too risky."? But they didn't. They were the other people.

Rob Smith was one of those other people. You read his blog, and you didn't know whether to curse him out or laugh out loud. You looked at the things he did in life, and you had one of two thoughts. It was either A) "Oh hell, I wish I'd done that!" or B) "Did you mean to fuck it up that bad, or was it an accident?"

Never once did you read his writing and go "Meh. Whatever."

Rob was found slumped on his couch this morning. He was in his mid 50's, but he packed more life into those years than some people could experience in three lifetimes. He lived life on his terms, and if you didn't like it then you could kiss his cracker ass.

I met Rob in Tacoma, when he and his friend Catfish (and Catfish's wife Georgia) were doing a road trip through the States. He was a cranky old coot, but that could have something to do with the fact that I showed up in a kilt and a smile with my then girlfriend (now wife) on my arm. We talked, and drank, and had a good time, and then my wife and I went home. We've kept in touch, kinda-sorta. I'd read his blog, he'd stop by here every now and then, and we'd wave at each other over the internet. I figured I'd get another chance to hang out with him when I got off this island.

Not this time.

Rob had written steadily for years. He influenced more people than even he knew. And when the bullshit was flying, you could always count on Rob to cut through the crap and lay out the truth as he saw it. Even if you didn't like what he presented, you knew he wasn't giving you a line of BS. He had a hell of a life, both good and bad, and towards the end of it managed to beat down his personal demons. Again, life on his terms. There wasn't anything that was going to control him if he had anything to say about it.

Rob wrote the way people should write. He was popular because he not only put his heart out on his blog, he made sure you could understand how he felt and why he felt that way. He was a better communicator than most of the intellectuals today could even dream of being.

Dammit, Rob, you're going to be missed. This planet needs more of people like you, not less.

But Godspeed, brother.

Ohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease!

Granted, I don't think it will actually happen, but at least someone is speaking about taking the New York Slimes to task for their leaks of classified programs.

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee urged the Bush administration on Sunday to seek criminal charges against newspapers that reported on a secret financial-monitoring program used to trace terrorists.

Rep. Peter King cited The New York Times in particular for publishing a story last week that the Treasury Department was working with the CIA to examine messages within a massive international database of money-transfer records.

There was nothing illegal about this latest program that the NYT exposed. It was working. It was successful. It was legal. And the Administration asked the Times to NOT PRINT THE DAMN STORY because it would compromise the program's effectivness.

But the NYT put it out anyway, and that's one more program that we cannot use to capture terrorists.

So I say hold their feet to the fire. Find out who's leaking the stories and burn their asses. Put people in jail for a good looooooooooooooooooong time.

But like I said, I don't think it will actually happen. As much as I hate to say it, I really do believe it will take another terrorist attack on this country before people get serious about dealing with terrorists and the countries that support them.

Bascially a tube inside a tube, one tube of which helps drain wastewater from one's system. The other is used solely to inflate (and, mercifully (in due time) deflate) the balloon that keeps the drainage tube in one's bladder.

Now, can anyone venture: what two words, when used adjacent to each other, mix most poorly with "Foley Catheter"?

Picture Time VII

This is from Panama. You know that every gringo who visits Panama has to take at least ONE picture of the Panama Canal.

Well, I took more than one. But I'm only showing you one of them, in the interest of keeping you interested in this blog.

I'm off to the beach. Toodles!

And Tim - Happy thoughts and good drugs, bro!

News Round-Up

With Tim getting fitted for his Bionic Tool (We can repair him! We can make him better!) I figured I'd check out what had been happening around the country.

Wow. That's what I get for not watching the news for a week.

We have a terror cell busted in Miami. The Left is in absolute denial about this, of course. "Oh, they weren't REAL terrorists! They were a bunch of bungling amateurs!"

Tell me, just what constitutes a "real" terrorist? Is it intent? Action? The amount of people that they can kill? If they plan to blow up a bus stop, but we catch them before they do it, are they no longer terrorists?

Can someone tell me how the Left can actually argue "The weren't real terrorists!" without their heads exploding from the influx of bullshit?

MORE confirmation of Chemical Weapons in Iraq. Um, duh. Anyone who hasn't been braindead and in denial for the past four years knew that Saddam had WMD. But the Left is so bankrupt of logic and facts that they had to hitch their wagon onto the "SADDAM WASN'T A THREAT" meme and hold on for dear life. Thus we get the laughable arguments that Saddam didn't have any WMD, Saddam didn't gas anybody, Saddam wasn't a threat, these are not the droids you're looking for, and various other drug-fueled pipe dreams and childish temper-tantrums put forth as "debate" from the Left.

By bringing Saddam's weapons to light AGAIN, it proves the Leftoids wrong on several counts AGAIN. Saddam was NOT contained. Saddam DID pose a threat. The weapons inspections were NOT working. And Saddam DID have weapons of mass destruction. This doesn't even begin to touch the other reasons for going into Iraq.

But let's face it - Saddam could have a parade in downtown NYC, where he's riding a nuke a la Dr. Strangelove and spraying Sarin gas all over Times Square, and the Leftoids would STILL find a reason to wail and gnash their teeth about the war. Because in the end, they're not against the war. They're against President Bush. Their hatred of all things Bush has snapped their already feeble minds and sent them spiraling downward in a well of hatred so damn big that they'll do anything they can in order to see President Bush brought down. And they don't care if they bring this country down with him. They don't care if American is left in smoking rubble so long as that BASTARD CHIMPY MCHITLERBURTON IS BROUGHT TO JUSTICE!!!11!1! POWER TO THE PEOPLE MAN!!!1

We're not dealing with rational people anymore. They would burn down their own house if they though Bush was inside it, even if they had to light the match from their own living room and bring the whole thing down around their ears. Sanity has departed from the Left.

Which merges rather nicely to this next bit - the NYT has once again leaked information regarding secret methods used to follow, observe and trap terrorists. And this time, the Slimes even admits there is nothing illegal going on! They just wanted people to know the truth, because, like, uh... it's IMPORTANT, MAN! GIMMIE MY PULITZER!

The Bush Administration asked the NYT not to run the story. We were still using the program to hunt terrorists, and we didn't want them to know what we were doing. And the NYT ran the story anyway.

Tell me, what do you call people who continually expose secret information to our enemy? What do you call people who work for our enemies? I call them traitors. And let's be clear - I don't think they're helping our enemies because they have a deep longing for a Caliphate. They're helping our enemies because they have a deep longing to see President Bush brought down for ANYTHING. They have been flinging shit at Bush for years, hoping that they could get something, anything to stick and create a scandal. And they've failed. So now, they're exposing the secrets with which we hunt down terrorists, feverishly searching for a scandal that they can pin on the Administration, and all they have done is alert the Terrorists to what we're doing. They've given away our secrets to al-Queda. They are actively working against this country because they can't stand the President.

In their hatred and seething they have done more harm to this country than anyone could have imagined. Whatever their motives, their actions have labeled them clearly. TRAITORS. Anti-American criminals who should be locked up for the rest of their lives, along with whoever leaked the information to them in the first place. Has there ever been another era where American citizens have worked so hard against American interests, all in the name of bringing down the President?

And what's even worse.... is anyone surprised by their actions? Nope. We expect them to be anti-American asshats these days. It's their MO. Until a Democrat is president, the NYT will be as anti-American as al-Jazeera. And we all know it.

Percocet Time I

While Dave has been enjoying his well-deserved vacation and spending some quality time with his bride, I have been spending some quality time with a urologist, who this morning at approximately 1100 Eastern used a special set of surgical tools to first look around inside my urethra and bladder and then to incise a half inch long stricture (or contracture) in said urethra.

((( luckily I was anaesthetized at the time ))) LOL

Anyway, the doc then sent me home with a catheter which I am to wear for 10 days while the incision heals around it. Add a couple follow up visits and my pecker should be back to normal.

Meanwhile: ouch.

Egypt in one word - brown.

The yellowish tint in this photo isn't because of bad film, or crappy proccessing. It's because everything in Egypt is brown. And after you've been outside for a while, all the dust makes you brown as well.

Today's picture comes to you from Virginia Beach. Fort Story, to be exact. I was on one of my beachcombing jaunts when I saw bird footprints in the sand, and just decided to take a shot of it. I haven't altered it in any way. It was the way the color of the sand, combined with the shadows, made it look almost like a photo of the surface of some different planet that appealed to me.

And yes, I'm still on vacation. And yes, I'm still enjoying it. Toodles!

Picture Time IV

I'm doing my best to avoid the news. I'm on vacation dammit!

The picture today comes from Pike Place Market in Seattle. As you walk inbetween the kiosks and shops, you enter a dark hallway, with seafood vendors and restaurants on one side, and produce vendors on the other. There's not much overhead lighting, so the vendors hang lights to make their goods look presentable. I took this shot with the apature closed ever so slightly so that the fruits and veggies would pop out at you, but everyone else not in direct light would fade into the background somewhat. As always, if someone wants this photo, let me know and I can send a larger copy via email.

Enjoy. I hear a gin and tonic calling my name....

Ummm, it seems to me that he is no longer lucid.

Picture Time III

This picture comes to you from an undisclosed location in New England. I was in Massachusetts for my brother's wedding in '04, and during some down time I was walking around a harbor looking for a good seafood restaurant. It was sunset, and while walking past a few boats I saw an opportunity for a good photo.

The picture in this size doesn't quite do it justice, but you can get the idea. The colors are mindblowing. If anyone wants it larger, just email me and I'll get it sent off to you.

After my vacation, of course.

Picture Time II

Yesterday we went with a picture from Korea. Today, we'll go with Puerto Rico.

In Old San Juan, you'll see the two castles that protected the city for centuries. El Castile del Morro, and El Castile de San Cristobal. El Morro is the more famous of the two, because it directly guards San Juan Bay. It is over six stories tall, built out of rock, and just the sheer look of it is imposing when you're sailing up close to it.

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera for that shot. I did, however, take a tour of El Morro, and that time managed to bring my camera with me.

One of the most famous symbols of Puerto Rico is la garita. La garita are the Spanish watchtowers that were built along the entirety of the huge wall that protected the city of Old San Juan. They are featured prominently in El Morro and San Cristobal, in artwork all over the island, and even in my unit's patch. Here is a view of the entrance to one -

For someone of my size, it's rather small and cramped. For someone who was part of the Spanish Army in the 1500's, it's rather roomy. These guard posts helped keep San Juan defended for four hundred years, until the Spanish American war and the invasion of the American Army.

As a bonus shot, here is a view of the entrance to San Juan Bay, shot from El Morro.

In the distace, you can see a spit of land. That land held another fort. Due to the way the city was planned, the only real way to get to the heart of the city was through San Juan Bay. And the bay was guarded by El Morro and this other fort. Their cannons would literally shred any fleet that was foolish enough to attack it. Your only other choice was to land a mile or two away from San Juan, and then march up to it's imposing walls and try to lay seige.

I'll say it again - for close to four-hundred years, nobody was able to conquer Puerto Rico. That's longer than the history of the United States of America.

Anyways, that's two photos and a history lesson, all in one day. I'm continuing my vacation now.

Chavez threatens TV stations

Crushing of dissent, Leftist style.

The Koran is burned and stained with blood.

Tammy Bruce asks: "Where is the Outraged Muslim Mob?"

Natalie Maines...

...in her own words:

The Chicks can't hide their disgust at the lack of support they received from other country performers. "A lot of artists cashed in on being against what we said or what we stood for because that was promoting their career, which was a horrible thing to do," says Robison.

"A lot of pandering started going on, and you'd see soldiers and the American flag in every video. It became a sickening display of ultra-patriotism."

"The entire country may disagree with me, but I don't understand the necessity for patriotism," Maines resumes, through gritted teeth. "Why do you have to be a patriot? About what? This land is our land? Why? You can like where you live and like your life, but as for loving the whole country… I don't see why people care about patriotism."
What a doof.

Picture Time

I've been scanning my photos into the computer so that I could make a CD of them, when I realized A) just how many damn photos I've taken and kept over the years, and B) just how many places I've been. Korea. Panama. Egypt. Canada. All over the USA. And now, Puerto Rico.

So I figured that while I'm on vacation, I'll post a few of my pictures from over the years. Hey, it's better than nothing, and I won't have to think up a blog post every day. I'll just get home, upload the picture, and call it good. Oh, and if anybody wants a copy of the photo, let me know. I've downsized these so that I don't kill the blog's bandwidth, but I'll be more than happy to email you a large copy of it.

So, for my very first photo, Camp Casey at dawn. This was my first morning in Korea. Little PVT Dave, at his first duty station, fresh out of Basic Training. I woke up, and walked outside for a smoke. The fog was so dense that you could barely see your hand in front of your face. As the sun came up, the fog started to clear so that you could make out individual trees. And I whipped out my handy-dandy camera and took this shot.

Oh, Kee-RIST!

Cynthia McKinney, psychopath moonbat bitch, will not be indicted for her assault on a police officer.

Any normal person who hit a police officer with a closed fist would be locked up, in jail, awaiting a judge to tell us just how long we'd be sharing a cell with Bubbah. But I guess if you're a whacked out fucking lunatic congresscritter, you have a get-out-of-jail-free card. Oh, and if you're black? You're home free, baby!

Cynthia McKinney is an absolute disgrace, and an embarassment to her city, her state, and this country. Only in America could someone who qualifies for a damn straightjacket get elected to congress. And only in America could a worthless commie whackjob get away with assaulting a police officer.

I'm so damn disgusted I could fucking puke. If the Republicans are smart, they'll hang that communist cunt around the necks of the Dimocrats for all she's worth. "You want to vote Dimocrat? HERE'S WHAT YOU GET IN OFFICE!"

If there were any justice in America, that psychotic wench would be in jail. Instead, we find out that being in political office is the best way to avoid obeying the law. And I hope that Cynthia McKinney, the police officer assaulting whore, gets voted out of office in her next election. She's the perfect example of Dimocrat values in action.

Then again, if she gets re-elected, we can hold her up as a campaign slogan. "McKinney! The Dimocrat's choice!"

Is it real? Or is itScrappleface?

You make the call:

Customers craving fresh crustaceans will have to look beyond Whole Foods Market Inc. after the natural-foods grocery chain decided Thursday to stop selling live lobsters and crabs on the grounds that it's inhumane.
.
.
.
The Austin-based grocer spent seven months studying the sale of live lobsters from ship to supermarket aisle, trying to determine whether the creatures suffer along the way.
.
.
.
Ultimately, Whole Foods management decided to immediately stop selling live lobsters and soft-shell crabs, saying they could not ensure the creatures are treated with respect and compassion.

"We place as much emphasis on the importance of humane treatment and quality of life for all animals as we do on the expectations for quality and flavor," John Mackey, Whole Foods' co-founder and chief executive, said in a statement.

Animal rights activities were thrilled with the decision, not just because of the way lobsters are harvested, shipped and stored but because of the fate that awaits many of them — being dropped alive into a pot of boiling water.

"The ways that lobsters are treated would warrant felony cruelty to animals charges if they were dogs or cats," said Bruce Friedrich, a spokesman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

In making its decision, Whole Foods pointed to a November report from the European Food Safety Authority Animal Health and Welfare panel that it said concluded all decapod crustaceans, including lobsters and crabs, appear to have some degree of awareness, feel pain and can learn.
I don't know what to say.

The word of the day is:

Leave. No no no, not YOU leave, or me LEAVING. Leave. As in, Military Leave, which I haven't taken in over a year.

I'm taking a vacation, folks. I'll be out and about, but my posting is going to drop off for a little while. My step-son will be here tomorrow, the beaches on the western end of the island call, and I need to recharge my batteries. So I'll drop little notes every now and then, but until the 26th....

See ya.

Still going strong

Two-hundred and thirty-one years ago today, freedom loving citizens of this country answered a call to duty.

The decendants of those citizens, both in body and mind, are still answering that call.

God Bless this man's Army.

The whining of the Moonbats

It hasn't been a good seven days for the Left, has it? Zarqawi takes a dirt nap last week, and now Karl Rove is NOT going to be charged in the Valerie Plame leak case.

Oh, and President Bush went to Baghdad to meet with Prime Minister Al-Maliki. If you listen very closely, that sound you hear.... sort of like a soft "pop"..... that's a moonbat's head exploding.

The Left, in their quest to make their FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELINGS more important than actual facts, have clung to the hope that Rove would be frogmarched out of the White House while their heroes Pelosi and Murtha impeached Chimpy McHitlerburton and Democrats won every seat in Congress.

And it ain't happening. But you have to admit, watching them demand that life conform to their warped beliefs is kinda cute for a little while. Like, say, 15 minutes. And then it gets annoying pretty quickly. Kinda like a snot-nosed brat who's furious because the batteries in his new remote controlled Al Gore doll died, and now he can't hear the Gorebot pontificate on global warming, and the brat is screaming and screaming while beating his controller on the ground, and demanding that Greenpeace declare war on Rethuglicans, because all of us Reichwingers are out to destroy the environment and club baby seals over the head with an endangered redwood, instead of just changing the damn batteries and shutting the hell up.

Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go have a celebratory sip of that sweet crude oil that the VRWC has been stealing from Iraq via a secret pipeline built in Afghanistan with slave labor.

What, you don't believe me?

Oh, and if you're a Leftist who's worldview has taken one too many blows this week, you definately do NOT want to go HERE.

You know what? If the Leftist's actions only threatened themselves, instead of endangering the lives of other Americans, I would actually find their forced ignorance and quasi-religious acceptance of Marxism rather amusing.

Surfing through Townhall.com

When I found a few gems. One by Thomas Sowell.

The beauty of doing nothing is that you can do it perfectly. Only when you do something is it almost impossible to do it without mistakes. Therefore people who are contributing nothing to society except their constant criticisms can feel both intellectually and morally superior.

If there is any quote that more perfectly frames the Anti-War Left at this time, I don't know if I can find it.

And now, has the furor over Ann Coulter's new book died down yet? Can we discuss it without a burst of self-flagellation?

Because let's admit it, folks. It's not what she said, it's how she said it that's pissing people off. And as a person who has been rude and crude quite often in his life, I'd just like to say that I agree with Ms. Coulter.

The Left has taken to using people who suffered great tragedy as their spokesmen, and then screaming "HOW DARE YOU ATTACK THIS POOR PERSON!" when valid objections are raised. Does Cindy Sheehan ring a bell? It should. Sheehan has been exposed as a particularly vile piece of filth, and yet she's still out there regurgitating the Democrat's talking points, plus a few of her own as well. The "Jersey Girls" are no exception. Question their political motives or message, and you're attacked with "YOU INSENSITIVE ASSHOLE! HOW DARE YOU ATTACK THEM! CAN'T YOU SEE THEY'RE GRIEVING?"

Actually, no, I can't see that they're grieving at all. That's the problem. Oh, I have no doubt that they suffered, and grieved at the loss of their husbands. But then they picked themselves up and used their victim status has a method with which to attack President Bush, the war in Iraq (and our military at the same time), Conservatives, Republicans, and anything to the Left of Howard Dean. And the Democrats were more than happy to use them, and give them microphones, and film political commercials with them as the stars, and are still using them this very day. So when Ann Coulter points that out, albeit not in the most polite fashion, the sheer verbal onslaught was staggering.

Methinks they doth protest too much.

A hell of a lot of people on the Right side of the blogosphere jumped away from Coulter as fast as they could. Condemnations were flying fast and furious over her writings about the Jersey Girls. People were jumping off that ship as fast as they could. And why? Because Coulter didn't just say what was wrong with the Jersey Girls, she delivered a few sucker punches while she was at it.

And for that, conservatives all over the web were shrieking.

There were only a few websites out there that stated "What she said was foul, harsh, and insulting, but her argument is essentially correct." Michelle Malkin brought up an essay by Dorothy Rabinowitz that stated much of what Coulter wrote, without the invective.

But if we as consumers didn't want Ann Coulter's invective, then Dorothy Rabinowitz would be a best selling author right now, while Ann Coulter would be a little known writer. So the hysterical shrieking and shouting over Ann Coulter's method of delivery strikes me as a bit odd, if not hypocritical. When Coulter talks about how the Jersey Girls are millionaires, reveling in their celebrity status, she's stating the truth. If she had not added "I've never seen people enjoying their husbandsÂ? deaths so much." this never would have been the shitstorm it became.

One damn sentance that is style rather than substance. That shouldn't void the entire argument, which is what the Left desparately wants. And what many people on the Right seem willing to give them.

Some times....

Stupidity can be painful.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger, the youngest quarterback to lead a team to the Super Bowl championship, broke his jaw and nose in a motorcycle crash Monday in which he was not wearing a helmet.

Not wearing a helmet. Hmmmmmmmmm..... and if the bike pictured in the news story is Big Ben's, then he was riding around on a crotch rocket.

Dumbass.

Listen, for anyone who rides a motorcycle or is planning on riding one - there are a few rules that you need to be aware of, the first of which is this:

Never get involved in a land war in Asia. Wait, no, that's not it.

OK, rule Number One: WHEN RIDING A MOTORCYCLE, EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD IS TRYING TO KILL YOU.

Rule Number Two: When operating a vehicle that places your head in front of your body, and goes very fast, PROTECT YOUR *@?@^#$ HEAD!

Would anyone like to guess why fatalities on "sport" bikes far outnumber the fatalities on cruisers? Because sportbikes have higher top speeds, and the position you are in is the "head first" position. Which means that in an accident, the first part of your body to hit the ground is most often your head. Whereas a cruiser puts your feet in front of the rest of your body, making an accident on that style of bike more broken legs, feet, hips, and arms.

So here's Ben Roethlisberger, the SuperBowl QB, possibly out for the season because he wanted to ride a fast bike and not protect his head.

I hope the thrill was worth it, dumbass.

Violent crime up for 1st time in 5 years - Yahoo! News

Classic quote from the AP:

"We see that budgets for policing are being slashed and the federal government has gotten out of that business," said James Alan Fox, a criminal justice professor at Northeastern University in Boston. "Funding for prevention at the federal level and many localities are down and the (National Rifle Association) has renewed strength."

YearlyKos: Democrats are moving to the wiggity-wack left big time. Makes me wonder if the best hope for a GOP White House win in 2008 would be a Democrat House for the two years prior.

Where do we find such men?

In the Army.

Nearly 18,000 military personnel have been wounded in combat since the war began in Iraq more than three years ago, according to Defense Department statistics. Some have lost legs and arms, suffered horrific burns to their bodies and gone home permanently.

But the vast majority have remained in Iraq or returned later - their bodies marked by small scars and their lives plagued by aches and pains.

I know that the majority of the Left simply can't understand the military. And I don't know anymore if that's really a bad thing.

Many of the injured soldiers have begged their commanders to let them come back. One soldier was sent home after a bomb exploded in his face and damaged his eyes. He likely will never return to Iraq, but still asks. Another was sent home because of a heart condition, but returned to Iraq three times, according to Lt. Col. Thomas Kunk, a commander in the 502nd Infantry Regiment.

Kunk, who is not a doctor, decides every week which wounded soldiers can return to duty. Often the soldiers research regulations and argue endlessly, he said.

It's heartbreaking when he has to say no, but he does.

"Sometimes there's too much 'Hooah!' in us guys," Kunk said. While he doesn't want to dampen that enthusiasm, he said, "I don't want to hurt the guy the rest of his life."

So, tell me again about how the military is a bunch of dumb morons who get suckered into going to Iraq? Tell me again about how the military doesn't want to be in Iraq?

Yeah, right. These men and women believe in what they're doing. And they prove it, every time they go back into the desert.

Kindly pardon the frank language, but...

...so long, shitforbrains.

Gateway Pundit: Zarqawi's Final Moments of Life

Click, if you please, and scroll to the bottom where you can find a link to an AP story alleging that American soldiers found Ole Zarqie alive and beat him to death.

If true, those soldiers should brought before a military tribunal so they can be awarded Bronze Stars.
