In all the discussion about journalist casualties in Iraq, I have heard no one comment on the fact that the media's behavior increases the risk to its reporters. The goal of the terrorists in Iraq, like that of terrorists everywhere, is not to inflict casualties, but rather to frighten people by creating the impression of lawlessness and illustrate the inability of legally constituted authorities to maintain order and provide protection. The media are a vital tool in achieving this goal. If the terrorists can get more media coverage by killing or seriously injuring one reporter than by killing a division of Iraqi soldiers, guess whom they are going to target.

If the networks really wanted to protect their reporters, they would do the following: First, issue large press decals to put on helmets, vehicles, etc. so that reporters were readily identifiable. Second, establish a well-publicized policy that any terrorist injury or killing of a reporter would cause a one-week blackout of any coverage of terrorist acts in Iraq. All coverage from Iraq for that week would focus on progress in rebuilding the nation and "good" news. Such a policy would reduce the deaths of, and injuries to, reporters in Iraq by at least a factor of 10. After all, how many al-Jeezera reporters have been killed by the Iraqi terrorists? The Iraqi terrorists are bloodthirsty and evil, but within their warped view of the world, they are not stupid.

Sadly, the media seem willing to risk the lives of their reporters in order to focus on the bad news in Iraq.

And it's not just terrorists that are smarter than the media, the MSM's intended audience has largely outgrown them as well.

...the Mother Sheehan Arrest Story this morning. The schmecklehead anchor was "reporting" what had happened (he was looking down and reading) and Soledad O'Brien, from the other side of the split screen, interrupted him to note that Sheehan was asked to cover up her shirt and refused prior to her removal. The anchor said: "That differs from this account here. This is from her blog on michaelmoore.com..." and then he read Sheehan's "letter" verbatim with the text on screen.

The only way you could find about about how far left Ginsburg was, was by listening to conservative radio, which in 1993 meant Rush Limbaugh and various local DJs. The conservative backlash against the Has-Been media started on the radio, and we've controlled the airwaves ever since, at least in national ratings. I make no guarantees when it comes to local nutjobs. God knows Seattle had more than it's share.

I guess what really makes my mind pop is the fact that the Has-Been Media still tries to call itself "objective". They haven't been objective in fifty years, and they ain't gonna change now.

Pay no mind to the fact that the House of Saud exports Wahabbism at every opportunity. Forget that if it weren't for the fact that Saudi Arabia supports splodydopes in palestine, the splodydopes would run out of money and support rather quickly. It's all the fault of the nasty USA!

"Moreover, the U.S administration's faith in the power of elections to transform people makes it oblivious to the possibility that the democratic process is often a double-edged sword which can have unintended consequences," goes on to say the policy brief delivered last Dec. 27 by the SNSAP's director, Nawaf Obaid.

Furthermore, the brief states that the U.S. failed to press "Abbas to implement his commitments to security and disarmament, and has not succeeded in convincing donor nations to fulfill their pledges for financial assistance to the Palestinians."

It's laughable. It really is. The Arab countries in the Middle East have been using and supporting the terrorist groups that make up palestine for decades, and now that those terrorist groups are in power, the goat-fucking sand fleas want to whine and blame us.

Recent surveys conducted by the Saudi National Security Assessment Project indicate that there is deep distrust of senior officials in the Palestinian Authority, most of whom are Fatah members. "This situation has created an opportunity that Hamas has been able to exploit."

The brief cites United Nations statistics indicating that "almost 75 percent of Palestinians live below the poverty line."

Maybe that's because the United Nations as a whole were too busy giving Yasser Arafish a humjob to notice that he was a corrupt greedy crook who took the billions upon billions of dollars given to the palestinian authority and used them for his own perposes, mostly including blowing up Jewish children. The palestinians as a country and as a society produce nothing but misery and terrorists. They choose to be that way. I say to hell with them all. Maybe when they stop blowing up busses and bat mitzvahs and pizza shops I'll start caring about them again.

Iraq's Insurgency Joins Fight for Democratic Iraq - Democrats SILENT

Democrats (be they on the internet or your TV set), driven by the radical left, have made it quite clear what their assessment of our efforts in Iraq have amounted to - "QUAGMIRE", WITHDRAW THE TROOPS (Quickly! We don't want there to be the "appearance" of victory!), WE HAVEN'T AND WON'T ACOMPLISH ANYHING! They based this on the grim news coming out of Iraq as the Sunni Arabs (former Saddam loyalists) had paired with foriegn members of al Qaeda's terrorist network to thwart our attempts to build a stable democracy in Iraq. Democrats kept close count of our dead and never mentioned our successes hoping that they would succeed in doing what the insurgency and terrorists in Iraq could not - force us to abandon our efforts before we had achieved our objectives. In November 2005 Democrat John Murtha called for an immediate withdrawal and redeployment of US troops. That was right before the December 15th elections. Up until those elections our men and women in uniform had been fighting diligently to foster a secure environment while a constitutional democracy could take root and the security forces to defend it could be established. A temporary slate of representatives was elected and drafted a constitution which was ratified by the Iraqi people who's turnout (measured as a percent of the population voting) was greater than the turnout for the 2004 Presidential election in this country. This was followed by another vote which saw even greater turnout in which the Iraqis voted for their first official slate of representatives based on the ratified constition. The election of December 15th has proven a monumental turning point in our struggle to make Iraqi into a democratic ally in our war on terror. The Sunni Arab Iraqi resistance recognized the election as a crossroads. Their fellow citizens were deciding their own destiny through democratic action while they fought against the coalition forces and the growing Iraqi security forces. They could continue down this dark and bloody path, or they could participate in the process and attain equal representation for themselves in determining the future of their country. They chose wisely.

Since then the news has been exceptionally less grim, the Democrats on the internet and on tv have reacted primarily with SILENCE. Were they truely concerned about the fate of Iraq, the would join us in celebrating the amazing transformation taking place right now. But their silence is owing to their previous defeatist declarations. They predicted this was all a terrible waste and that there was no salvation save for our withdrawal. They offered no constructive critisism - nothing that would help us achieve our goals. They offered only constant complaints based upon the bad news, discounting any news that indicated progress toward the same. But progress we have made. Iraq is a constitutional democracy. It's security forces will soon be built out and by early next year their police force should also reach expected numbers. Their economy is improving along with their infrastructure. And since December 15th, the "home grown" Sunni Arab insurgency have come to realize that the foriegn terrorists don't have their best interests at heart.

The results of the December 15th elections:

An alliance of Shiite religious parties won the most seats in Iraq’s new parliament but not enough to rule without coalition partners. Sunni Arabs gained seats over previous balloting. The Shiite United Iraqi Alliance captured 128 of the 275 seats in the Dec. 15 election, down from the 146 it won in January 2005 balloting, said commission official Safwat Rasheed. It needed 138 to rule without partners.
A Sunni ticket, the Iraqi Accordance Front, won 44 seats. Another Sunni coalition headed by Saleh al-Mutlaq finished with 11 seats, Rasheed said. A few other Sunnis won seats on other tickets. That will give the Sunni Arabs a bigger voice in the legislature than they had in the outgoing assembly, which included only 17 from the community forming the backbone of the insurgency. Many Sunnis had boycotted the January vote. Women hold 59 out of 275 seats though the constitution grants them 69.

Iraqis Taking Over Anbar Security

Haider Ajina sends what sounds like great news from Anbar province in Iraq, a part of the Sunni triangle which has been one of the main centers of the "insurgency." This is a portion of Haider's translation of an article from the Arabic newspaper Dar Alhayat.

Dar Alhayat newspaper has learned that Iraqi Prime Minster Aljaafery has agreed to replace U.S. forces spread throughout Anbar province with locally enlisted forces. This agreement was drafted in a meeting between tribal leaders, Aljaafery, the U.S. Ambassador Khalil Zad and commander of the multi national forces General George Casey. The agreement was reached in a meeting last Sunday in the province. The local tribal leaders committed to expelling the foreign fighters and isolating the local Alqaida network lead by Zarqawi. In preparation for this local involvement local recruiting centers have been reopened and local training camps have been set up. These camps will prepare locals to take over full security responsibility in their province [as in Nejaf, Kerbala, Kut, parts of Baghdad etc…]. These newly (U.S.) trained local units' primary responsibility will be fighting, terrorists, and chasing down or chasing away-armed groups. This will be done as U.S. forces withdraw gradually. Alhilli [a high ranking member in the leadership of the Aldaawa party the head of which is PM Aljaafery] said: "This agreement resulted from requests of Anbar tribal leaders (including the Dulaimy tribe) for government, monetary, political and social aid to defy and get rid of Zarqawi’s organization. Haithem Alalusi, an official of the “Congress of the Islamic Revolution,” confirmed this request. Families and tribal leaders in the Alkhalediah, Alfelahat and Alkermeh areas (south of Felujeh) have formed local councils. Council members are Local Imams and educated individuals who will educate locals to reject violence and terror. Sources close to armed Iraqi groups said that Zarqawi’s organization is trying to gain favor with Iraqi resistance groups by shooting down three U.S. helicopters. But local fighters in Ramadi have labeled Zarqawi and his organization terrorist and have had armed clashes with them. These sources also said that the local resistance in Ramadi and the tribal leaders are trying to force Zarqawi out of Iraq and are looking for any means to get rid of Zarqawi. Some local families have asked for Zarqawi and his follower’s heads, after locals were killed in bombings while enlisting at police recruiting stations. Theses bombings have lead to armed clashes against Alzarqwi’s group, which resulted in the death a tribal leader. Samara has also formed local committees to chase and keep away foreign fighters and reestablish the local council. Albubaz family of Samara was able to kill four and chase away 11 foreign fighters in joint operation with Iraqi security and other tribes. Tribes of Samara have asked to reopen military and police recruiting centers, government offices and promised to guard the city from attacks.

Haider comments - This area is no longer a safe haven for Zarqawi and his followers nor is it an open recruiting ground any more. This is a 180-degree turn around from just 8 months to a year ago when these areas provided support for Alqaida in Iraq. Now these areas are recruiting grounds for the fight against Zarqawi and his ilk.

Six Iraqi militant groups announced that they will unite their forces and join the rest of resident of Anbar and Salahiddin in fighting al-Qeda.

And fellow blogger Scaramonga at Curiouser and Curiouser points us to this supporting information as well:

The Anbar tribes’ campaign to rid the province of Zarqawi’s terror organization, al-Qaeda in Iraq is in its 2nd day and so far, 270 Arab and foreign intruders have been arrested. Usama Jad’aan, the leader of Karabila tribes in Qaim told al-Hayat that “the operation will continue to eliminate terror elements according to a quality plan” and added “270 Arab and foreign intruders have been arrested, in addition to some Iraqis who were providing them shelter”. Sheikh Jad’aan added “the operation is conducted in coordination between the tribes and the minister of defense Sa’doun al-Dulaimi and since we arrested hundreds of terrorists, I don’t expect the operation to take a lot of time”.

Democrats will continue to remain silent during this historic turn of events. The radical left will hope that the fledgling Iraqi democracy will fail. But their inaction will not make the progress disappear and their hope will not cause Iraq's new government to fail. Leftist Democrats and Al Qaeda terrorists are holding a losing hand.

A couple of thoughts

The past few weeks have been rather interesting, and here's a few thoughts I've had on some of the going-ons.

Hamas wins elections in Palestine. OK, so the big difference is instead of a government claiming that they want peace and then blowing up bat mitzvahs, we now will have a government screaming "DEATH TO THE JEWS" and blowing up bat mitzvahs. I'll take an enemy stupid enough to tell me what he's going to do any day of the week. What this does is allow us, as a country, to treat the palestinians like the monkey felching terrorists they are. When the group who's motto is "Death to Israel" gets elected, you can't say "Oh, they're just a fringe group" anymore. We don't have to grin and pretend that the people we're dealing with aren't a bunch of murdering neanderthals who don't have enough collective IQ to tie their shoes. We don't have to pretend that these people actually want peace. By electing Hamas, the palestinians have given us the freedom to do what we should have done years ago. Allow the palestinians to drop off the face of the earth. Or in their case, blow themselves off the face of the earth. Hell, I'd settle for Israel blowing them off the face of the earth, at least until they give up terrorism as a way of life. Maybe when the cesspool currently known as the Gaza Strip is clean of palestinians, Israel can take a break from defending itself for once.

Nah. Iran will make sure she can't take a break.

Judge Alito is going to become Justice Alito. It's a given at this point, and I really do hope that the Dhimmocrats refuse to acknowledge that fact and continue their campaign against him. If accusing him of being a racist, bigoted, anti-woman, government loving thug on national TV didn't get the Dhimmocrat's ratings up, I don't know what will? And making his wife cry on national TV? Priceless? C'mon Teddy, (hic!) throw something else at him!

The Dhimmocrats painted themselves into this particular corner. They politicized the Supreme Court, and starting putting some of the most partisan liberals they could find on the bench. And to make sure that their nominees got to the bench, they started making certain "rules". "You can't ask the nominee about this. They don't have to answer questions about that. Blah blah blah blah blah." So when Alito simply didn't answer some of their questions, what could they say? Ginsburg set that particular policy up, and don't think for one minute that the Republicans have forgotten that fact. They were just waiting to open up on Teddy (hic) Kennedy, Chucky Schumer, and the rest of the depraved fucksticks who couldn't shut their pieholes on national TV.

I'm a red-blooded, gun owning American in the Army, and yet Ted Kennedy has killed more people than I have. How's that get ya?

So after embarrassing themselves (live!) on national TV, the Donks really can't do anything to block Alito. Although I still want to see them attempt a filibuster. On yeah baby. During an election year. GO FOR IT, TEDDY! GO FOR IT, LURCH! THE HOPES OF THE DHIMMOCRAT PARTY REST ON YOUR SHOULDERS!

I don't understand why people are so up in arms about this. Stein is only printing what the majority of the Left feels, but don't want to admit in public. Those of us on the Right (and in the right) shouldn't get upset, because we had this information already. Stein is simply being honest about the way the Left feels, which puts him above most the other Leftists out there who lie about their opinions for political gain. We should just hold him up everytime we hear some Leftist shitstain claim "but I support the troops". Oh really? Do you?

Hillary Clinton seems to be making a full court press for the presidential nomination in '08. The more I hear her, the more I'm reminded that she's nothing more than a communist cunt. But that's fine, because everytime she flaps her lips, she gives conservatives more ammunition. Anyone who needs a primer on the Clintons just needs to remember one simple rule: Everything about the Clintons, all of them, is corrupt. Rotten as a six month old tomato. Dirty. Filthy. Horrid. As putrid as a slaugherhouse in mid August.

When it rains, it pours

I apologize for the lack of any real posting lately. The Raging Mrs. and I have been dealing with a few health issues, which translates to I've been taking care of my wife as she can no longer walk without massive amounts of painkillers.

She had an MRI done on her back, and the bottom line is that things are pretty messed up around the L4-L5-S1 region, and she's going to see a neurologist to determine if she needs surgery. I think it's hard to accept because for years my wife was seemingly indestructible. One day she actually wrapped her car door around her leg (long story, but from then on you could see daylight coming from the warped section on the bottom of her car door) and she was up and walking around the next day. So to have an injury that she can't just laugh off is unsettling to her, to say the least. It's also taken away most of my free time, (which I give up gladly, it's not a complaint) because I'm now doing everything she used to be able to do, as well as assist her in whatever I can.

In any case, I'll keep y'all updated and post when I can. Hopefully we'll get everything rolling along in short order.

Just read this on a message board for Philadelphia Eagles fans:

The only difference between Hamas and Fatah is the sheen of legitimacy Fatah enjoyed due to more than a decade of coddling from the Clinton/ Bush administrations and the United Nations. Between the Nobel Peace Prize Arafat shared with Barak to the photo-ops at the White House with terrorists Arafat and Abu Masin (again, on both administration's watches), Fatah was able to establish itself, against all logic and reason, as a legitimate political organization while conducting endless warfare against Israeli citizens through its al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades.

Now that the Jordanian/Egyptian/Syrian squatters known as the palestinians have chosen an Iranian-backed death squad to lead them, the veneer of legitimacy is gone. And their next act of violence against the Israeli people will be rightly considered an act of war -- and the international community will not have a leg, or a Peace Prize, to stand on if they attempt to refute that fact.

Not to mention the power struggle to come between the Hamas terrorists and the al-Aqsa terrorists. And, of course you know, in a place like palestine, the words 'power struggle' are synonymous with the words 'civil war'. Don't be surprised if Fatah attacks Israel first, just to unleash the IDF's wrath on Hamas.

When the civilized world pressed to give savages who parade their children in front of cameras wearing mock suicide belts and take to the streets to celebrate terrorist attacks the right to vote, surely they knew this was a very real possibility. They went ahead with it because either way, the result could be beneficial to western civilization. In the case of a Hamas victory, that benefit is transparency.

Palestine is now undeniably a terrorist state, controlled by a terrorist arm of an international pariah (Iran). At least the situation can be dealt with honestly now.

She had a wonderful life that was extended for a few months when we found her in heart failure in October. Still she was independent to the end and had no suffering other than shortness of breath. She was a great Conservative who passed on her humanity and wisdom to me by example instead of indoctrination.

Democrats are responsible for much of the nation's progress in areas like civil rights? Gee, would that be the same Democrats who attempted to filibuster the 1964 Civil Rights Bill? Led by KKK Grand Kleagle Robert Byrd? THOSE Democrats, Hillary? Are there any other crowning achievements by the Dhimmocrats that we need to know about?

And as for her assertion "that the House has been "run like a plantation" under Republicans." Do you mean calling Colin Powell a House Slave because he doesn't think like you do? Do you mean calling Condi Rice a "skeeza" because she doesn't think like you do? Are you talking about calling Michael Steele "Simple Sambo" and putting up pictures of him in blackface because he doesn't think like you do? I agree, Hillary; those kinds of intimidation are horrible and should not be allowed.

In Monday's edition of the NEW YORK SUN, reporter Brian McGuire and contributor R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., break the first look at the long-anticipated report from Independent Counsel David Barrett, whose investigation lasted 10 year and cost taxpayers $23 million.

The SUN outlines the report's details surrounding the alleged illicit activity and cover up that involving former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros before and during his time in the Clinton Administration.

The Sun reveals that the Barrett report connects the dots that allege that senior officials of the Clinton Administration hindered investigations by the IRS in both Texas and Washington, as well as the investigations of a grand jury examining the independent counsel's evidence.

The full report, more than 400 pages, with more than 100 pages of redacted material, hits the street on Thursday morning at 9 am...

I don't seem to remember the media making much of a fuss about corruption and cover-ups in the Executive Branch itself. Of course, that was "good corruption," I suppose, just like there are "good leaks."

Must have been out of concern for national security. Lot of big military secrets tied up in the Housing and Urban Development Department.

How many people here have been to a military funeral?

The military is big on pomp and ceremony. Some of it seems outdated, and some of it is deadly serious. But a military funeral is one of the most solemn occasions you will ever experience in your life. The rendering of final honors to a fallen soldier will shake the soul of anyone with a fragment of a heart left.

I'm on one of three teams from Puerto Rico who carry out the ceremonies. I rotate from being a pallbearer to a member of the rifle squad, depending on where they need me at the time. But one other ceremony that people in Puerto Rico perform that I haven't seen done anywhere else is receiving the body when it comes into the country, at the airport.

It's a simple ceremony in the grand scheme of things. The pall bearers receive the body from the airplane and escort it (i.e. carry the casket) to the waiting hearse. Sometimes there's no one around but other military personel. Sometimes the family is there.

That's what I'll be doing tonight.

I know I'm far from being the only person who has been part of a funeral ceremony. But seeing as this is a fellow soldier, and there but for the grace of God go I, every time I participate it reaffirms my belief in what we're doing.

Running from Iraq would dishonor the deaths of the people who are coming home one last time. Withdrawl would render their sacrifice null and void, pointless. This is what the Democrats want.

I believe it's my duty to ensure that the Dhimmocrats don't get what they want. Not just for myself, or for my readers, but for the men and women I escort back to their families.

As well as, the anti-american demonstrations that took place following the bombing. Then comes the truth and the most freaking important part of the damned article. If this was to happen here in the good ol' USA, you would be arrested for aiding and abetting a known felon. But in the world of the Middle East and terrorist haven, you need to duck hellfire missiles and bombs. If you don't want to spend your day hiding from missiles and bombs, don't invite freakin' terrorists to dinner. Iraq's Sunni Arabs Ditch Terrorism to Fight Terrorists - Democrats Sad

We begin our journey into the current state of affairs in the country of Iraq which Democrats have been claiming we lost to the "freedom fighters" of al Qaeda since we set foot in the country. It seems that the determination of President George W. Bush to ignore the ignorant defeatist proclamations of Democrats and create a constitutional democracy where once was a brutal, terrorist-supporting dictator who had almost waited out a failing sanctions regime in order to procure his hearts content in weapons of mass destruction has given even his hardest-hearted loyalists a choice between self determination and self destruction, and go figure - they're choosing self determination:

Iraqis are increasingly saying that they regard Al Qaeda as a foreign-led force, whose extreme religious goals and desires for sectarian war against Iraq's Shiite majority override Iraqi tribal and nationalist traditions.

According to an American and an Iraqi intelligence official, as well as Iraqi insurgents, clashes between Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia and Iraqi insurgent groups like the Islamic Army and Muhammad's Army have broken out in Ramadi, Husayba, Yusifiya, Dhuluiya and Karmah. In town after town, Iraqis and Americans say, local Iraqi insurgents and tribal groups have begun trying to expel Al Qaeda's fighters, and, in some cases, kill them. [I]n most Sunni cities, Iraqis defied Al Qaeda's threats and turned out to vote in large numbers on Dec. 15. "The tribes are fed up with Al Qaeda and they will not tolerate any more," said a senior Iraqi intelligence official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. The intelligence official confirmed reports that a Sunni tribe in Samarra had tried and executed Qaeda members for their role in assassinating a local sheik. "It was a beautiful mistake," the intelligence official said of the sheik's assassination by Al Qaeda. "Now the tribes will kill Al Qaeda. Now they have the courage." "It is against my beliefs to put my hand with the Americans," said an Iraqi member of the Islamic Army who uses the nom de guerre Abu Omar. Still, he said in an interview in a house in Baghdad, he allowed himself a small celebration whenever a member of Al Qaeda fell to an American bullet. "I feel happy when the Americans kill them," he said.

The story told by the two Iraqi guerrillas cut to the heart of the war that Iraqi and American officials now believe is raging inside the Iraqi insurgency. In October, the two insurgents said in interviews, a group of local fighters from the Islamic Army gathered for an open-air meeting on a street corner in Taji, a city north of Baghdad. Across from the Iraqis stood the men from Al Qaeda, mostly Arabs from outside Iraq. Some of them wore suicide belts. The men from the Islamic Army accused the Qaeda fighters of murdering their comrades. “Al Qaeda killed two people from our group,” said an Islamic Army fighter who uses the nom de guerre Abu Lil and who claimed that he attended the meeting. “They repeatedly kill our people.” The encounter ended angrily. A few days later, the insurgents said, Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia and the Islamic Army fought a bloody battle on the outskirts of town. The battle, which the insurgents said was fought on Oct. 23, was one of several clashes between Al Qaeda and local Iraqi guerrilla groups that have broken out in recent months across the Sunni Triangle. American and Iraqi officials believe that the conflicts present them with one of the biggest opportunities since the insurgency burst upon Iraq nearly three years ago. They have begun talking with local insurgents, hoping to enlist them to cooperate against Al Qaeda, said Western diplomats, Iraqi officials and an insurgent leader.

RAMADI, Iraq — Qassan Ashar Ali, 24, and his brother Omar made their way past three checkpoints, two bomb-sniffing dogs and an X-ray truck and became the first recruits to enter the glass factory in Ramadi after last week's bombing. A few months ago, Ali saw masked gunmen shoot his cousin — a former police officer — four times in the head. Despite the assault, Ali wanted to follow in his footsteps. "I want to try to secure my city," he said. Behind them were at least 225 young Sunni men, many carrying sport bags with clean clothes, toiletries and pictures of loved ones for their trip to the police academy in Baghdad. "We've been scared for a long time," Ali said. "We've had enough." U.S. commanders hope the turnout of people such as Ali signifies a watershed moment in Ramadi, the provincial capital of Al Anbar, which is among the most brittle of cities in Iraq. "The Iraqi army is important, but it's the police that will be responsible for the rule of law," said Maj. Robert Rice of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, who oversees the Iraqi police program in Al Anbar. "They're the foundation to be able to fight a counterinsurgency." Commanders here say they garnered support for the recruitment drive through weeks of meetings with clerics and sheiks, some of them with ties to local rebels. Americans hope to drive a wedge between local rebels and radical Islamist elements of the insurgency — in part by recruiting locals to police the city. The focus on the Iraqi police is part of a countrywide priority shift for the Americans, who have long worked on building the Iraqi army. Political and military leaders have dubbed 2006 the Year of the Police. At the same time, the U.S. military has launched a strategy to combat bombings. Last week, Operation Green Trident was launched 25 miles south of Fallouja, involving hundreds of coalition and Iraqi soldiers. The sweep netted about 11 tons of munitions from 72 sites, mostly shallow holes along the banks of the Euphrates. The military also is using bomb-sniffing dogs, high-altitude spy drones and citizen tips to curtail bombings. Coalition forces anticipate more attacks like those at the factory gates as progress is made toward establishing a permanent Iraqi government. "Increased attacks across Iraq this past week clearly indicate Al Qaeda and other terrorists still have the capability to surge," coalition spokesman Brig. Gen. Don Alston told reporters Thursday in Baghdad. "As democracy advances in the form of elections … and government formation and military pressure continues, we expect more violence across Iraq." The Bush administration has said it wants to have working Iraqi security forces before considering a drawdown of American troops. And that, commanders say, is the incentive they offered local leaders. "We basically have a common vision: We certainly don't want coalition forces in their city forever," said Army Col. John L. Gronski, commander of the 28th Infantry's Second Brigade Combat Team, based in Ramadi. "They want their city to return to normal. They understand the more they fight the coalition forces, the longer we're going to stay." Withdrawal moved to the top of the agenda shortly after Brig. Gen. James L. Williams, assistant commander of the 2nd Marine Division, and Al Anbar Gov. Mamoun Sami Alwani persuaded key leaders to enter into a dialogue, said Col. Miles Burdine, commander of the governance support team. "It gave us an opportunity to say, 'If you can convince the sons of Al Anbar to join Iraqi police and the Iraqi army … we will leave,' " Burdine said. The first meeting to discuss withdrawal conditions, which drew 200 Sunnis from Ramadi, sparked the formation of Al Anbar Security Council, which has since met weekly with U.S. commanders. As Sunnis have shown more willingness to engage and participate in elections, U.S. commanders have shown more readiness to meet with rebels or those connected to the local insurgency, commanders said. "We have more of an open mind than we may have had in the past," said Gronski, who assumed control of the area in July. "Right now it seems promising, and we're ready to trust the local leaders." But, he added, "we're still out there engaging the [radicals] with bombs and with bullets."

And while good men and women put their lives on the line and sacrafice in order to create a free Iraq and partner in our fight against terrorism, sad sacks like John Murtha (who seems to be the only leadership voice in the Democrat party regarding the war in Iraq) has this to say:

I think the political people who give advice will say to him (Bush), ‘You don’t want a Democratic Congress. You want to keep a Republican majority, and the only way you’re going to keep it is by reducing substantially the troops in Iraq,’” Murtha said.

You'll excuse us for laughing in the face of such advice, Mr. Mogadishu. It's nothing more than wishful thinking on his part. One could almost forgive him for his misplaced confidence if he based it on the results of polling like this:

First, only 81% of respondents were even eligible to vote, and there's no indication of how many of them actually went to the polls in 2004..
1. Party Leanings - The poll is slanted 52-40% towards Democrats, even though the voters in the 2004 election were split evenly at 37% between Republicans and Democrats.
2. Religion - Next, a whopping 19% of respondents had "no" religion, while in 2004 only 10% of voters had "no" religion, and they voted overwhelmingly for Kerry (+36%).
3. Age of Respondents In this poll 31% of the respondents were between 18-34, even though the 18-29 year olds (a slightly smaller demo) only made up 17% of the electorate in the 2004 election. I think it's pretty safe to say that by including 30-34 year olds that number would still not have come close to the IPSOS sample.
4. Income Level of Respondents - This one is amazing. In this poll 15% of respondents made under $15,000 per year. In 2004, only 8% of voters were in this income bracket, and voted 63-36% for Kerry.
5. Marital Status - In this poll, only 56% of respondents are married. In 2004, 63% of voters were married, and voted 57-42% for Bush.
6. Geography - In this poll, only 17% of respondents were from "rural" areas. In 2004, 25% of voters were from rural areas, and voted 57-42% for Bush.
7. Race - In this poll, there were 71% white respondents and 12% Hispanic respondents. In 2004, 77% of voters were white, and only 8% Hispanic. Bush won the white vote 58-41% and Kerry the Hispanic vote 53-44%.

Here's a poll Mr. Murtha may or may not be aware of and one that should give him pause as it is an example of what can be accomplished in a country where brutal oppression existed where a legitimate government should have been.

In Iraq we are on the verge of attaining the cooperation of the last hold-outs of the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein. They are coming to the realization that we are there to improve the lives of all Iraqis. Iraqis as a whole are now working toward a future that they will determine just as their neighbors in Afghanistan have been doing. The Afghanis have had a head-start as they were liberated from the Taliban before Operation Iraqi Freedom began. Iraq just became a constiutional democracy while Afghanistan has had a constitution and democratically elected President for over a year. There are about the same number of people in each country. Each is composed of Shia and Sunni muslims. Afghanistan does not have the natural resources that Iraq does, which means that as Iraq's economy comes fully online, it will boom. Polling in Iraq 1 year from now should be similar OR BETTER than what we are seeing in Afghanistan right now. The Democrats know this. That's why they are solely focused on "withdrawal". Can't have "the appearance of victory". That is why they are sad.

Chuck Schumer walked out before the judges started to speak. Teddy Kennedy showed up late, stayed for 10 minutes, then left. Pat Leahy put on a dour face for a short time, and also bailed. Dianne Feinstein, to her credit, remained for the duration and asked respectful questions.

What is she referring to? When six judges sat down to speak about the qualifications of Justice Alito, the worthless, spineless, yellow-bellied, hypocritical, slimy, worthless shitsack Democrats (redundancy alert) who had beem smearing Justice Alito for several days with their lies and hysterics DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO LISTEN TO THEM!

Powerline says it better than I can, mainly because I can't see my screen very well due to the red haze of rage that has settled over my eyes.

This is truly extraordinary. Extraordinary that Judge Alito's colleagues have turned out to defend him against the Democrats' smears; extraordinary that the Democrats themselves couldn't be bothered to stick around to hear what this distinguished group of judges had to say. After all, if the Democrats were actually interested in what kind of judge Sam Alito is, these are precisely the witnesses who could tell them. If the Democrats really thought that Alito's judicial opinions reflect poorly on him, these are exactly the people who could answer their questions, and, if they are correct, confirm their fears. But the Democrats apparently knew that wasn't going to happen. The only conclusion one can draw is that the Democrats knew they were smearing a fine man and a fine judge. But the fact that they didn't even have the decency or respect to stay and listen to Alito's colleagues is disgusting.

Just when you think that the Dhimmocrats couldn't get any worse, they sink to a new level. And to top it all off, I also saw this:

Nikon has been seeing some success in the ultra-competitive digital camera market, and now that those sales account for more than 95% of their business, they're ready to go all the way (almost) and are ditching their existing film cameras and lenses -- except for their flagship F6 line and its relevant glass.

I had been looking at good Nikon digital gear, but it's way expensive, in my opinion.



I'd give just about anything for a top notch digital camera and a corresponding top notch macro lense, but not $1500, alas.



Plus, conventional wisdom sez Canon is better. And I have Nikon lenses.

Just in case anyone was wondering where I went and what I was doing, here's the answer: I was in Panama, performing one of the most important functions that a soldier can do outside of combat.

I was part of a funeral detail for another soldier.

Maybe this is why goat-fucking pissants like Murtha and Moran piss me off so much. They denigrate the service of men like the one I just helped bury. Men who believe so much in what they're doing in Iraq that they re-enlist, or retain their commission, even after being in Iraq or Afghanistan, after seeing combat. These men have been knee-deep in shit and knew that they were fighting for something good, something worthwhile. And to have cowardly fucksticks like Murtha and Moran shit all over the military while good men and women fight and die for what they know to be right makes me see red. Craven pusswads like Moran and Murtha don't deserve to lick the dust off of a soldier's boots. And yet they sit there, spewing the worst kind of crap out of their mouths, and it makes me want to kick both of them in the nuts so hard that their voices are a permenant squeak.

The man I carried to his grave should not have his life violated by the likes of Murtha and Moran. They can choke and fucking die for all I care. I buried a better man than they could ever hope to be.



I might write more on this later, I don't know. Mebby when I feel up to more than bashing in the skulls of Murtha and Moran with a baseball bat.

I'm back, and I have a question

Are the Dhimmocrats just a bunch of moronic fuckwits who are so full of shit that it spills out every time they open their pieholes, or are they a group of corrupt power-hungry jackals who need to be taken out and shot for the good of the country?

Yep, I'm back, and I'll let you all know what I was doing sometime tomorrow. But while I was away on Army duties, I managed to watch a bit of news, and quite frankly, it made me want to vomit.

The hearings on Judge Alito have turned into the three-ring circus I thought it was going to be. Seriously, nothing can frame the Dhimmocrats better than the sight of Joe Biden going on a rambling, 13 minute diatribe against President Bush. Quite frankly, he reminded me of some of the homeless people I saw living in Pioneer Square in Seattle.

"You're evilevilevil because I SAID SO AND I just need a few cents because I haven't eaten for days and you're gonna overturn Roe v. Murtha peddled his military credentials away, and turned himself into a cowardly, yellow-bellied, pathetic fucking sack of partisan bullshit. And after he shits all over the military, demeans their actions and their sacrifices, calls for immediate surrender withdrawal surrender (I had it right the first time), he doesn't even have the balls to speak with a veteran of the Afghanistan campaign! Both Murtha and Moran, two gutless fucking shitstains on the rumpled bedsheets of humanity, couldn't face one of the soldiers that they had been denigrating for months. Those two syphilis sores don't have enough backbone between the two of them to equal one servicemember, and that needs to be shown on a daily basis. Do you want the party of surrender, the party of running and hiding, the party of allowing American citizens to be blown up by terrorists while they whimper and cringe under the bed, to be in control of ANY PART of this country's government in 2006?

(Excuse me while I rant for a minute.) Let me explain something - even if Iran was not producing nukes, it would still be the next logical target in the War on Terrorism. Iran is the mother of all terrorist groups. And I don't think we would need to occupy Iran like we are Iraq. With Iraq and Afghanistan as strategic allies, and a largely pro-western younger population in Iran, all that would be necessary would be removal of the head. The USAF could take out the mullahs and their nukes in one massive airstrike. Just declare all of Iran one big "no-fly zone" until Iran's terrorist President gives himself up or is dead. That'd be a good start. If Iran were to join the rest of the civilized world and allow its people to govern themselves and the freedom to associate with the rest of the world, I wouldn't even mind them having nukes. We'd be so much safer than we are now. It is nukes in the hands of a terrorist regime, which has consistently referred to my country as "the Great Satan" for more than a quarter century now, and has spawned groups that blow people up all over the world, that is intolerable. Taking a defensive posture will not win this fight, and we cannot allow the world's leading sponsor of terrorism perpetual "deniability." Iran is the leading sponsor of terrorism, and therefore should be held responsible for terrorist acts.

Furthermore, Iran is the honor killing, rape, sharia, decapitation capital of the world. If a woman is raped in Iran, she gets stoned... do I need to explain how that works? Iraq's Sunni Arabs Reject Violence - Democrats Screwed

Any Democrats out there praying that the constitutional democracy that George W. Bush insisted on planting in Iraq would collapse into a civil war should lose what little hope for a U.S. failure in Iraq that they had left after this:

Salih al-Mutlaq is another Sunni politician who apparently feels that Zarqawi was addressing him as well. Al-Mutlaq has also condemned violence again today and stressed that “ending violence is the key to stability in Iraq”.

What matters most about such immediate firm reactions to Zarqawi’s call is that they show that the gap between foreign terrorists like Zarqawi and Sunni Arabs in Iraq is growing wider by the day

In response to a decision by U.S. commanders in Iraq to reduce the number of U.S. troops in Iraq due to the increasing capability of Iraqi security forces:

Al Qaeda's Number 2, (or is he number one now?) Ayman al Zawahri said:

“You remember I told you more than a year ago that the American withdrawal from Iraq is only a matter of time, and here they are now … negotiating with the mujahedeen,” al-Zawahri said.

And Democrat leader John Murtha said:

"I worry about a slow withdrawal which makes it look like there's a victory when I think it should be a redeployment as quickly as possible and let the Iraqis handle the whole thing."
