Hey - I was playing D&D when the entire set came in one box, and you had to fill in the numbers on the dice with a crayon. I got my role-playing geek cred.
Well, I wasn't playing yet, but that was the first set I owned (blue box Basic D&D). Reading those rules at a young age taught me more about reading and analysis than my schoolbooks (I believe I was 7 at the time).
