Goodbye Cruel World

BDS is now a pandemic.

My mental state is collapsing and deteriorating almost daily. It's so consistent you could practically graph it. My life is falling apart at an equally alarming rate, and yet I feel like doing nothing to salvage it. I feel like I'm standing at the bottom of one of the WTC towers, watching it come down on me, floor by floor, knowing I'll be blown to atoms, yet unable to move.

Patrick Ruffini :: September Straw Poll: Tag the Vote

Porkbusters

I don't understand the whole attraction around Porkbusters.

If I lived in Lahaska, Pennsylvania and my Congressman had gotten the town five million bucks to build a parking garage that will help alleviate congested streets, bring more businesses to the town, and bring more shoppers to the town, I'd be damned if I'd volunteer to decline the money so the governments of New Orleans and Louisiana can have it.

Cuts across the discretionary board, or convene the Senate and House and start redlining. That makes sense. But asking individual representatives to volunteer to slash their district's budgets to benefit New Orleans, it seems to me, is just delusional.

When the Dems need Votes, the Buses don't stay Parked

On 45 minutes notice, Landrieu's election campaign had no trouble finding drivers for New Orleans' buses when the cause was getting liberal voters to the polls, but with the election won and her poor voters left stranded in a soon-to-be flooded city with no food or drinkable water, the buses stayed parked. At least we know where her priorities are.
...when the management team got word at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday that a GOP tracking poll showed Jenkins ahead, it was time for an instant parade. "Within 45 minutes, we arranged a motorcade," Tucker said. "We found Mary and Marc, got school buses for workers and sound trucks with music and put on a parade to flush out our voters."
...[NOLA Democrat] teams tracked the turnout all day in target precincts. If the vote was slow compared to past elections, some of the 1,000 street workers were sent there to knock on doors and ask people to vote.
Emphasis mine. (Abridged version of original article here.)

"I was a lifelong Republican until Bush..."

We've all heard it before. Well, here is some choice debunkery.

More here.

Commander in Chief

Starts tonight on ABC. I wonder how many episodes go by before a funny talking Southern religious righter or two are craftily dismissed by our new Galantess in the White House? How long before the Patriot Act is vaguely referred to and criticized? How long before protestors in the streets are lauded for their involvement in the process?

Well only time will tell.
