Got home, checked the news

Saw what's going down in Paris.

Ho.  Lee.  Crap.

We'll see if France wakes up, won't we?

Melissa Click is a f**king joke

No, seriously, go check out her "resume".  These are the people "teaching" your kids at universities, if by "teaching" you mean "indoctrinating their students in anti-Constitutional, anti-Capitalist Marxist rhetoric and absolute mental dross".  It's amazing to me that someone that completely idiotic and stupid can hold a position of influence anywhere, but that just shows how far the University of Missouri has fallen.

In other news, if anyone applying for a job at your place of business has a degree from Mizzou, I think you can safely laugh them out of your office.

A good point

Regarding Trump and his critics on his immigration stance:  If you don’t like what Trump is proposing, come up with something better. I’ve yet to hear it from any of you.

I’ve got some bad news for you, sunshine. There’s nobody else on the Republican debate stage who’s come up with anything “realistic” that looks any better and most of them sound far more like Democrat surrender advocates than conservatives. Personally, I’ve grown tired of the disingenuous cable news coverage and the barely concealed scorn (or worse, damnation by faint praise) coming from many of our other candidates.

The vast majority of candidates, Marco Rubio included, favor Amnesty of some sort or another.  The reason Trump surged in the polls and still holds a rather high rating is his stance on illegal immigration.  That should have told the GOP something, but of course the national GOP is tone deaf when it comes to actually listening to the people who it counts on for votes.

Way back when

When I was a "yout", so to speak, I was helping a landscaping guy put in a sprinkler system.  I must have been about 14 or 15, just doing this to make some side cash.  Anyways, this guy was a Korean War vet.  Infantry.  And as we're laying the tubing for the system out, he regales me with some tales of HIS youth marching up and down the Korean coastline.  The Chinese had made a big push, and his platoon was part of a unit that was performing a tactical movement to the rear.  They've got the ChiComs coming down on them like a million pissed-off hornets, and they're screaming for help on just about every radio channel they've got.  Artillery from the Army is occupied elsewhere, and air support wasn't even close to an option, no help from them.  But the Navy has a destroyer close enough to lob some shells their way, and obliges to do so.

This guy relates to how they would get the call for incoming rounds, and they'd hunker down until the rounds landed.  While the dust was still in the air, they'd haul ass down the exit route until the dirty commies would start popping rounds at them again.  Then they'd hunker down and relay another set of coordinates to the destroyer, who would oblige with another barrage.

Unbeknownst to them, a battleship (he claimed it was the Missouri) had picked up the radio chatter, and the Captain decided that he was going to do the landlubbers a solid.  So they steam on over and politely tell the destroyer "Hey, we've got this."  The destroyer dips it's flag and continues on it's way. But nobody tells the Army guys on coast.  Somehow they got left out of the loop, and in the pause between the destroyer launching shells, and the battleship taking over, all the grunts know is that the firing stopped.  And they don't know why.

So they're radioing coordinates, and screaming for help, and wondering where the hell their fire support went, and thinking they were all gonna die.  And as this guy put it, "I was saying my final prayers when the entire ridge-line the commies had infested just disappeared.  Gone.  Turned into dust."  Anybody who was on their feet got flattened by the shockwave.  "We don't know how many of those bastards they took out, but not a single shot was fired in our direction for the rest of the day."  His platoon got on their feet, shook the dust out of their hair, and calmly walked back to the rendezvous point unmolested from that time on.

And apparently he bought a drink for every Sailor he met after that.

I have been privileged to meet many veterans in my life.  I've been able to shake the hands of men who were at Normandy during WWII.  I've had dinner with the men who liberated Italy in that war.  I've known and worked alongside men who fought in Korea, and Viet Nam, and Desert Storm.  And obviously I know and work with people from the current conflict.  I've known Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and even a Coastie or two.

In almost every case, I have been awed by the quality of men who wear that title, who have served, and continue to serve.  I'm going to spend a bit of time today making sure that I thank those people appropriately.  I suggest that you do the same.

On the GOP debates last night

Isn't it amazing what happens when the debate moderators actually moderate instead of attack the people on stage?

Dear Bloggers

If you run a blog that has white script on black background, I won't be reading you.  It's not that I don't like you, but it's that I cannot, literally physically cannot read what you write for more than fifteen seconds.

There are a couple of blogs like this who's authors I absolutely love to read, but I can't do it.  My eyes just won't take it.  Maybe it's just me.  Maybe I'm getting older (*&%# you Father Time!) and can't focus the way I could in my twenties.  But if you have white script on black, more likely than not I'm ending up skipping your writing because I cannot physically read what you put out.

This sucks.  And maybe it's evidence that Father Time hates me and is making me a whiney little bitch.  But I'm hardly the first in that regard, eh?

Here's what your money gets you at Yale

Nope right the fuck off.  All the parents of those infantile little shits might as well take their money and light it on fire in the backyard grill for all the good it does them.

Conversations that people don't have

But probably should:  8 Reasons It Doesn't Get Better For Homosexual Men.

These are discussions that people don't want to have, because modern society is so broken that telling the truth is now a crime.  But that doesn't make it any less true.

Soooo.....

Apparently Ben Carson thinks the Pyramids were built for grain storage.  And people are going nuts over it.

Before any Leftist starts yammering to me about Ben Carson's beliefs, I'm going to ask them what they think the Pyramids were build for.

"Tombs, Dave!  Duh!"  OK, but there are plenty of tombs that aren't in a pyramid at all.  Heck, they've found mummies all over the place.  A tomb is a tomb, and yes, the Pyramids do have tombs in them as far as I know.  But that doesn't specifically designate the entire building as a tomb, or even indicate that the first intended purpose was to be a tomb.

And reading Biblically, Joseph did tell the Pharaoh to store up grain.  Who's to say they didn't do that in the Pyramids?

Bottom line is that nobody actually knows what the Pyramids were built for.  Hell, they still can't explain how they were built at all, other than a mish-mash of theories.  So if Ben Carson thinks they were build to store grain, so be it.  There is not a single bit of evidence out there to really prove him wrong.

On the Media's hit job on Ben Carson

I was pleased to see people punch back almost immediately.  Warmed my heart, it did.

Oh, and in case you need to beat someone over the head with the truth, here it is straight from a recruiter's lips, m'kay?  The US Military Academy, aka West Point, calls it "scholarships".  So when Ben Carson says he was "offered a scholarship", that's probably the exact verbiage that was used.

The Politico piece was a total and complete hit job.  That they've had to re-write it, alter the headline, and continue to walk it back shows just what a dishonest hit job it was, and the fact that anyone even bothers to read that rag in today's age makes me shake my head at the stupidity of it's readers.  Ben Carson calling out Obama's Fan Club, the Media, warms my heart, and it shows that some people in the GOP have finally woken up to the reality that they won't be running against the Democrat in the race, they'll be running against the media itself, which is both the Democrat Propaganda Organ and the Democrat Stenographer Pool.  The same media which has spent the past seven years on it's knees in front of it's Marxist Messiah, the Communist Christ Obama, will now savage anyone on the Right to dares to point out that Obama is a massive clusterfuck of failures tied together by incompetence and narcissism.  Hillary will defeat herself.  She's one of the most unlikeable people in America.  It's only with the media attacking her opponent that she'll win.  So attack the media, because they're the ones doing the real work for the Democrats.

In the meantime, seeing Ben Carson punch the media right on the nose makes me think more of him.
