An oldie but a goodie

From Drumwaster, just in case some of you didn't see it in the comments.

I know it doesn't fit into the perception of happy hippy Jesus. but despite his long hair, Jesus was not a hippy.

Sorry to harsh your mellow, dude.

Still pissed about the fence

Every time I look into my front yard.

Non-insurance carrying bastard.

Still, thank god the fence was there, otherwise I'd be royally pissed about the gaping hole in my front living-room wall.

Good News / Bad News

Bad News - some Mexican just plowed into my front fence.  Hit the concrete post and slammed it into a 45 degree angle, taking a good portion of the rest of the fence with him.  This was after he took a bus-stop sign and snapped it off at knee level on the opposite corner, so he was hauling ass for a good long while after he hit the first curb.

Good News - the fence kept him from plowing into my living room.

I'll take what I can get.

This is what happens

When weak, gutless pathetic presidents are allowed to screw things up.  Or in other words, every time America has allowed a Democrat to infest the Oval Office.  Johnson screwed us into Viet Nam, and then did everything he could do to get us to lose.  Carter twiddled his thumbs as the Middle East fell apart.  Clinton screwed up Somalia, and allowed thousands to be slaughtered in Rwanda.  And Obama has probably done more to make things worse in the Middle East than Carter could even dream of.  He pissed away his chance to support the Iranian people in 2009.  He pushed out Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, and then supported the jihadi Muslim Brotherhood.  He drew his red line in the sand of Syria, then erased it, then drew it again, then erased it again, and finally begged Vladimir Putin to take over.

He pulled us out of Iraq without any concept of the consequences of his actions.  Like, say, 1,500 innocent people being slaughtered by ISIS.

Hell yes I'm laying this at his feet.  Obama ignored his military commanders.  Obama ignored al-Maliki, back when Maliki wanted the US to keep a force there.  Obama ignored the Iraqi parliament, who didn't want the USA to leave.

The decision to completely pull out and abandon Iraq is, was, and always will be entirely Obama's decision.  Therefore, the reactions to his decision will always be Obama's as well.  And as Iraq descends into chaos, and civilians get slaughtered by terrorists, we need to remember that this could have been prevented, but Obama allowed it to happen.

So, Dave...

Why do you still go to that traditional Latin Mass, anyways?  What's wrong with English?  Why do you have to be so old fashioned, huh?

This is why:

English changes.  HAS changed.  Latin?  Not so much.  There's a reason for the Mass to be done in Latin, after all - the church must pray as one, and that gets kind of hard to do when everyone prays in a different language.  Heck, it's hard enough to do when everyone tries to pray in English.  Even the English Mass used by the Novus Ordo is just an rough translation of the original Latin.

Oh, and for those folks who want to claim that Latin has changed?  Yes, sure, it has.  And those changes are now called Spanish, and French, and Italian, so on and so forth.  But the root language of Latin hasn't changed for about 1500 years or so.  It was the language of scholars in Europe, because you could communicate with your fellow scholars no matter where you or they were from or what language you grew up speaking.  And when the Mass was codified, it was Latin that was used to ensure that everyone in every church would pray as one, and that the Mass would STAY THE SAME.  That's a critical component there.  The Church didn't want the Mass to change as people and languages changed.  They didn't want to pull the Mass away from it's true meaning and significance due to the change in people.  And so the Latin Mass was used for centuries, until the Novus Ordo came along and decided that they really didn't need to worry about all that "God" business in church, and they did away with the true Mass.

You think that's harsh?  Let me explain:  Catholics believe that during the Mass, God is present on the altar.  He is present in the Host and the chalice.  That is why there is a tabernacle in every church.  That is the resting place of God.

So....  If God is present on the altar, and in the tabernacle, then why during the Novus Ordo Mass do the priests turn their back on him?  If you truly believe in God, and you offer the sacrifice of the Mass as he commanded you to do, why turn your back on him in the tabernacle?  Can you even see where the tabernacle sits in your church?  Do you know where the tabernacle is?  Is it veiled, or it is just sitting out in a corner somewhere, a forgotten part of the Novus Ordo mass?  "Oh, hey, yeah....  get some bread out of that fancy box over there, m'kay?"

In the traditional Mass, the tabernacle sits upon the alter, and the priest offers Mass while facing the tabernacle.  His back is to the congregation, and his face is towards God.  The canon of the Mass is said while the priest faces God.

Think about that for a while.

Boy, I need more coffee......

Rule of Law vs Rule of Man

When the Rule of Man supplants the Rule of Law, well....  what reason do men have to follow the Rule of another Man?

The Helmetta police officer replied, “Obama just decimated the freakin’ Constitution, so I don’t give a damn. If he doesn’t follow the Constitution, we don’t have to.”

And here is the downward spiral - when following the Law only gets you punished, and people who refuse to follow the law get away scott free, then it is in your self-interest to not follow the law.

Get ready for more of this.

Do you have a Kindle?

Or an Amazon account?

There is a flaming shit-ton of free Kipling books available for Kindles.  I was just looking for a poem or two, and found a veritable treasure trove.  I'll be re-reading Kipling for days and days.

Thatisall.

Drop them in the middle of Camp Pendleton

Let the real Marines know where they are.

Problem solved.  And make sure all the border-jumping wetbacks know exactly what happened to the people who wear the uniforms of a US Marine without earning it.  I guarantee you'll see less of it.

They know what side they're on

Journo reports on pro-Paleswinian demonstration in Canada, refuses to report that they chanted "Heil Hitler".

Don't you think that an anti-Israel crowd chanting "Heil Hitler" in Canada might just be news-worthy?  Maybe.  But that doesn't help advance the narrative that the Left wants to push, so they try to flush it down the memory hole.

Too bad for them people have video cameras today.

Brain dead

Anyone who's been reading me for a while knows that the quality of my writing has gone downhill in a big way.  And the reason is, quite simply, I'm brain-dead at this moment.

I keep forgetting the little things.  I keep forgetting the big things.  Hell, I showed up at church over an hour early yesterday, and couldn't figure out why anyone wasn't there.  I feel like I'm going senile, but I'm nowhere near that age.

A big part of it is my job.  It is a mind-numbing exercise in stupidity and futility, and I am honest when I say that every new day is worse than the last.  I have one year left in this hell hole, and then I'll move on to something that doesn't resemble an insane asylum.  Part of it is living in a polluted, filthy shithole of a city, where you are constantly under attack by something or someone.  I've had one or two good nights of sleep in the past three months, and that's it.  I'm sleep deprived beyond all get-out.  Between the shitty job and the hellish city, I'd rather be in Afghanistan.  At least in theater if I was being kept awake it was from out-going artillery.

I'm pretty sure that I'm on adrenaline overload at this point.

So I may have to have some pauses in the free ice cream every now and then.

Late to bed

The Ragin' Mrs. and I were all set up to go to bed at a decent time, and then something magical started to happen.

It started to rain.

There may be some folks who live in normal areas who are reading this and asking themselves why we think it's such a big idea.  Those folks have never lived in this craphole.  It hasn't rained in Los Angeles in months.    I haven't had water fall from the sky on to my yard in months.  It doesn't rain here during the summer, and after today it might not rain again until December or January.

So we stood outside in the rain and just enjoyed it.  We finally got to bed before Midnight, but it was worth it just to stand in the rain.
