I saw this news article and just nodded my head.
LendingTree rated the Beehive State last among all 50 U.S. states, noting that it led the nation in speeding infractions while also placing among the top 10 in citations, accidents and DUIs. Utah — which was 22nd on the company's annual list in 2020 and sixth last year — edged out California, Iowa, Wisconsin and Ohio for the dubious top spot this year.
OK, the DUI thing - the limit for DUI in Utah is .05, which is the lowest in the nation. So if you keep dropping the limit, you're going to end up with more DUIs than other states. Personally, I think that's sketchy, but welcome to Utah.
As for the accidents, speeding and citations? Yeah, I can confirm all that. I would also add in the cell phone usage, blatant disregard for whatever the speed limit is, driving 55 mph in the left hand lane on the interstate, and a whole host of other things.
The drivers here suck. I blame the influx of people from LA and San Franfreakshow.

What you don't know is that the mormon church started the big push to give sanctuary to illegals starting way back in the early 80's, you know..cheap, non-english speaking labor that would not complain about being screwed financially by the locals. That has grown into Salt lake City being a city ran by two Mob's, Mormons and Drug Cartels. True story, look it up. The Mormon Hierarchy is on the same level as Dope Cartels, maybe even worse.
I can't say I'm shocked. And given that SLC is the convergence of three different interstates it's hardly a surprise that the drug cartels would want some level of control.
In neighboring Idaho we fondly refer to our southern neighbors, when we see them on the road, as Utards! My kids taught me that one!
