    I’ve found one has to understand the nuances written into award citations. The average civilian Joe Schmeedlick isn’t going to comprehend what really transpired whereas an experienced GI most likely will. Explaining the “why” behind the medal to our boy Joe is nigh on impossible. They usually just get it.

    It’d be nice to read a few of those citations if you’re of a mind to share…
