Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please!

 Let this happen.

The moment many of us have been praying for over the last several decades appears to be at hand. According to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito, it appears the Supreme Court has voted to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion on demand legal in all 50 states.

Is this going to end abortion?  No.  It will simply leave the decision as to legal abortion up to each individual state.  Which means Idaho can ban it and California can give away free abortions with each fill-up of they want to (and they probably do).

But Roe v Wade was such a horrible piece of garbage law that it needed to be destroyed.  It was yet another affront to the Constitution.  And now it might finally be drug out back and shot in the head as it should have been years ago.

  1. Remember that this leak - almost certainly from one of "Wise Latina"'s foreign-born clerks - was intended to drive pressure on the Supreme Court on a close issue, maybe scaring one of the five in the current majority into changing a vote. And CJ Roberts doesn't bother getting the FBI involved, he asks the SCOTUS Marshal to "look into it". (The office has neither subpoena powers nor arrest authority, about as effective as the Sergeant at Arms on State of the Union night.)

If Roberts wanted to eliminate the pressure and prevent such stunts in the future, he ought to ask the five to sign it, and issue it as an Official Decision. "You were worried about what might happen if? Well, you can stop worrying."

You are right about the Tenth kicking in. Texas will effectively ban them altogether, as will Idaho and Utah. At the other end of the spectrum, they will have more abortion clinics in California than Starbucks, with "Frequent Flyer" bonuses for having three or more in a 12-month period...
