Happy Birthday to any Squids out there.

November 13th, 1775.  After the Army, of course.  HOOAH!

  1. FYI... "Squid" is also a derogatory term for a certain type of motorcyclist. It is the gym regular/muscle head white dude (I have never seen a black biker ride this way) riding a high performance sport bike not wearing a helmet, an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt (flying out behind him), Bermuda shorts, and flip-flops while riding at high speed and aggressively. He is sometimes accompanied by a hot young female wearing nothing more than a bikini and flip-flops. They are one wrong move from becoming one long co-mingled grease spot on the road.

  2. I knew about the motorcycle reference. Apparently, it's a term used on someone whom you expect to be turned into a lump of boneless flesh flopping around on the pavement.

  3. Ragin' Dave: I always knew Navy personnel as "Swabbies". Regardless of the terms, I have many family members that proudly served in the Navy. My Dad (Korea) was on carriers, his older brother Donald (WWII & Korea), my cousin Brien was a Submariner (Viet Nam), and my other cousin Chris from the Cold War, Gulf War I, through Global War on Terror.

So I should have said it in my earlier comment... Happy Birthday Navy!

  4. Proud to have served and worked for the Navy for 38 years. I'll be retiring at the end of the year. I was proud to of served as a blue jacket in President Reagan's 600 ship Navy.

  5. My grandfather was in the Navy for twenty years. Spent the entirety of WWII in the Pacific on a destroyer. One of his bothers also joined the Navy for WWII. Dad's a Marine. Had an uncle in the Air Force. Lots of fun times to be had at family gatherings
