Weed smokers need more anesthetic

Just another reason to avoid using it.

Along with anecdotal reports, a 2019 study found that patients who reported smoking weed or ingesting edibles on a daily or weekly basis needed more than double the amount of the anesthetic propofol for endoscopic procedures (like colonoscopies) than non-users. They also needed 19.6% more midazolam and 14% more fentanyl.

Look, I know some folks out there use it for medicinal purposes, but let's be honest shall we?  That accounts for a very, very small percentage of actual users.  The vast majority of weed smokers are just getting high every day, and unlike cigarettes or alcohol, there's a culture in America that cheers for the constant intoxication of a generation via cannabis.  Cheering on marijuana use is like cheering on chugging a pint of whiskey and smoking two packs of cigarettes.

We haven't even begun to see the damage that is occurring, both to individuals and to society at large, and by the time you will see it it will be too late to do anything about it.

Always on the outside looking in ;-)

Fibromyalgia, arthritis, nerve impingement and multiple service-connected injuries (knee, back, shoulder, tinnitus, etc.) means that the actual amount of pain killers I would be prescribed would make me stupid and sleepy, 24/7/365. I can titrate much better than having to cut pills into pieces. But I have been the exception to the rule so often that it's a rule of thumb-level first approximation whenever I am involved.

  2. Drum, for every one of you, there's a thousand hobos on the San Fernando Valley bike path saying "Yeah doc, I got.... uh... glock-o-rama! Yeah!" If medical marijuana were used by people with actual medical conditions, there would not have been a "medical" pot dispensary on every block in Van Nuys and Reseda.

Of course, that's all a moot point now.
