So, a 4.5 mile run

is about 8000 steps, give or take.  The Mrs. gave me her old FitBit when she got the newer whizbang model.  I don't use it all the time, but I wear it to see just how much activity I'm getting whilst going about my day.

It's more to assuage my curiosity than anything else.  Plus, it helps me kick her butt into gear when we need to go walking.

Over 2 million defensive uses of a gun every year

As Insty said, the science was settled. And Secret.

Florida State University criminologist Gary Kleck conducted the most thorough previously known survey data on the question in the 1990s. His study, which has been harshly disputed in pro-gun-control quarters, indicated that there were more than 2.2 million such defensive uses of guns (DGUs) in America a year.
Now Kleck has unearthed some lost CDC survey data on the question. The CDC essentially confirmed Kleck's results. But Kleck didn't know about that until now, because the CDC never reported what it found.

That's over two million criminal acts that were prevented or stopped by the victim having a firearm.

That's not a small number, folks.

Kleck further details how much these CDC surveys confirmed his own controversial work:
The final adjusted prevalence of 1.24% therefore implies that in an average year during 1996–1998, 2.46 million U.S. adults used a gun for self-defense. This estimate, based on an enormous sample of 12,870 cases (unweighted) in a nationally representative sample, strongly confirms the 2.5 million past-12-months estimate obtained Kleck and Gertz (1995)....CDC's results, then, imply that guns were used defensively by victims about 3.6 times as often as they were used offensively by criminals.
For those who wonder exactly how purely scientific CDC researchers are likely to be about issues of gun violence that implicate policy, Kleck notes that "CDC never reported the results of those surveys, does not report on their website any estimates of DGU frequency, and does not even acknowledge that they ever asked about the topic in any of their surveys."
If the government actually reported the numbers their studies had discovered, it would have shot a cannonball-sized hole in the gun-control argument of the 90's.  So they just hushed it up.

When you hear the Left scream about how they just want to end gun violence, remember that they're trying their best to prevent YOU from being able to defend yourself against a violent criminal.  The data backs up gun owners.

Remember Brandon Eichs? Welcome to the new rules

There are people saying that the far-left, snorting hate-beast who teaches at Fresno State shouldn't get fired for what she said about Barbara Bush's death.  And there are plenty of conservative reasons why a person shouldn't get fired for their grossly ignorant, hate-filled tweets.

But while Jarrar is facing calls to be terminated, she attracted support from multiple advocacy organizations and professors who defended her right to free speech.
“Jarrar’s tweets are unquestionably protected speech under the First Amendment and Fresno State has no power to censor, punish, or terminate Jarrar for them,” Adam Steinbaugh, senior program officer for FIRE (Foundation for Individual Rights in Education), said in a statement to Fox News.
FIRE also joined other free speech advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, in opposing the university’s decision to investigate Jarrar, saying it conflicts with the First Amendment.
Normally, I would agree with FIRE on this.  However....

The rules do not apply equally to both sides.  Not yet.  When the CEO of a company can be hounded out of his position not for any public statements he made, but for donating to a political cause that the Left didn't like, then this blubbery, bloated abscess can and should be hung out to dry for what she said publicly.

If the Left doesn't like their rules, then they shouldn't be forcing everyone else to play by them.  And until the Left feels the sting of the rules they demand for the Right, then they'll continue marching through public and private institutions demanding that everybody bow to them and their rules.  Well, watching this corpulent canker-sore get fired might just make some people on the Left figure out that their rules can be applied both ways, and they won't like living by their own rules.

These are not rules that the Right has come up with.  They are entirely created by Leftism, and dammit, the Left should be held to them the same as any conservative would be.  So, sorry not sorry to the Fat Festering Fuckhead of Fresno State.  Conservatives have lost their jobs for far less.  Time for the Left to enjoy the rules they have established.

They were warned that they would not like their rules.  They didn't give a shit as long as they could attack conservatives without repercussion.  That time is now over.

The Mrs. has a CriCut

And a heat press.  And I have tee-shirts with reflective vinyl to use for PT.  And she has a nascent business.

She made me a coffee cup that reads "Coffee doesn't ask me stupid questions in the morning.  Be more like Coffee."

She also made me a unit mug.  And my office all has matching work-out gear.

I think she'll be keeping this up for a bit.

Just a reminder

That Robert Mueller is a political hack, and has been for decades.  He's only "respected" because he helps cover up Democrat corruption and government over-reach.

Damn good question

The pilot did what she was expected to do - get the plane on the ground in the case of an emergency.  She did an admirable job.  You could say she went above and beyond, and it's probably true.  But no passenger is ever asked to plug a HOLE IN THE PLANE with THEIR OWN BODY.  IN MID-AIR.

God forbid we have positive stories about men in the news.  That doesn't help the narrative.

In case you don't know, I love a capella

Yes, I do.  Damn you Kim, I spent far too much time listening to this.

This rabid land-whale is a tenured professor

So, Barbara Bush died yesterday.  Her husband held her hand all day, and was there when she passed.  While I think that Bush 41 was a horrible president, this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that his wife of 73 years...

Let me repeat that - his wife of 73 years....

....has passed on, and quite frankly I don't know how much longer 41 has after this.  When people have been married for that long, sometimes they follow one another through that gate.  In any case, this was the perfect opportunity to express some good will, as well as hold a seven-decade marriage up as an example of what kids today should aspire to.

So naturally, a professor from Fresno State had to come out and demonstrated what a good little progressive leftist normally does.  In other words, by vomiting out some of the most demented bullshit one can think of.

You can go read the festering hatred if you wish.  This is a woman who's soul is blackened with corruption and rot.  And as usual, the outside soon begins to look like the inside.

Yeah.  That paragon of health and beauty decided that expressing hatred towards a woman who's lived a good life was a grand thing to do.  So now she's "on leave" from Fresno State.  Which means they are hunkering down and praying that the storm will blow over.  Sadly, they're saddled with that raging ProgNazi until she dies.  The good news is that given her blood type of Jell-o Pudding, that eventuality might not take too long.

Two-legged warthogs like this are why college is more and more of a sham and a scam.  Why on God's green earth should anyone spend $40,000 a year or more to get lectured by this snorting hate-beast?  Exactly what purpose does she serve, other than as an example of what NOT to be or do?

It's Tax Day.

Otherwise known as "The Day The Government Rapes You Without Lube Or A Reach-Around".

Well, this is rare

The Ragin' Mrs and I have sampled multiple variations of Boudin sausage, and I think it's safe to say that we don't quite enjoy any of them.

This may piss off multiple Cajuns, but it's all a matter of opinion.  We like what we like.  And although we can make an authentic boudin, it's not something that we want to do.

Andouille, on the other hand....

Big changes a-comin'

Let's just say that a lot of plans that I had made for the next couple of years have been tossed in the trash and set on fire.  But in a good way, mostly.

In the meantime, have you seen Comey's book?  I think he's implicated himself legally at least five or six times.  This guy is NOT the "smart" man than he tries to portray.  He's merely an educated one.
