Why would I want to be out in crowds like this?
More importantly, why would I want to follow up a day of gratitude, a day when we thank the Lord for the blessings that we have, to turn around and be consumed by greed and envy?
Is this what we really want? To beat our fellow man over a cheap TV or some other household item than you can buy on every other single day of the year? "But Dave, it's half-off!" So is that other person's dignity, or yours, worth a couple hundred bucks? Is that how cheap dignity is these days?
I refuse. I refuse to participate in an event that makes a mockery of a day dedicated to gratitude, and also a mockery of the Feast of the Nativity of our Lord and King Jesus Christ, also known as Christ's Mass, which people now call Christmas. "Let's all celebrate our Redeemer by beating the shit out of each other for a half-priced jacket!" Nope.
There might be dozens or hundreds of reasons why you would come to blows with another person. A good deal on children's toys does not fall into any of those reasons.
