Yes, modern pop music sucks

More than you will ever know.

This one's for you, Pigpen.

  1. This is exactly the point of why nearly all, if not all, of the music today is never going to reach the levels of the 60's and 70's. There is no incentive for the major labels to take a chance on an up and coming band, who have built a following, and just need national exposure. The labels are run by accountants, not by music people, and as such, they do to the music consumer what is done to every other consumer today, that is, they will TELL you what you want, and you are meant to like it.
I played in a cover band back in the 90's, I was the sax player, and a little guitar. We actually had a following, and wanted to try and go places. We quickly found that the only place most bands are going, no matter how good they are, is to the next bar or wedding. Fortunately, I figured it out early on, and played just for the joy of it, and not with the dreams of a young person. We were all in our 30's at the time, with two sisters who sang, and were fantastic and gorgeous.
It is telling that real music lovers, even young people, prefer to listen to oldies or classic rock stations on the radio now.
Thanks for the post today. I actually had seen it before, and find it to be spot on. At least with youtube and others, you can go looking for good music, and find it.
