I was up early firing up the smoker. Brisket and ribs today. Drinks tonight with friends. I'll be remembering every single Soldier I stood vigil over while I do so. Everything has a cost. This day has been paid for. Enjoy it, and tomorrow go back to fighting for it.

The Declaration of Independence was NOT signed on July 2. On July 2, the vote took place to assert independence from England. On July 4, the final draft of the Declaration was approved. The signatures were mostly affixed on August 2.
