Yeah, the goalie was WAY too far outside the box to provide proper protection... That would be like the catcher standing on first base, and trying to beat the throw home...
Something else I noticed is that if it hadn't been for the goalie actually touching the ball as it passes, it seems likely that the ball would have bounced off the left-hand upright and back into play, rather than into the goal... I could be wrong, but look at which direction it gets deflected by the goalie, and how close to the bar it passes.

ReplyDeleteIt may have. Of course at that point the game was 3-0 before the goal, so I think the outcome wasn't really in doubt.
