Maya Angelou is dead

Have you ever read anything of hers that you weren't forced to read by someone else, such as a teacher in high school?

I haven't.

Yeah, you can call me a troglodyte for that if you wish.  I'm the guy with the collective works of Edgar Allen Poe on his shelf, next to Robert Heinlein and the Federalist Papers.  But I never once ever felt the urge to read an entire book of Angelou's poetry  There was no there there, if you get my drift.

    Of course you and I are probably not educated and sophisticated enough to truly understand teh greatness conferred upon her by the intelligentsia.
